Data Sharing Agreements vs. Data Contracts
The terms “data sharing agreement” (DSA) and “data contract” often get confused, but they serve distinct purposes in the world of data governance. Both are legal documents, but they address different aspects of data usage and sharing. Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs): Legal Framework for CollaborationData Contracts: Technical Specifications for Internal SystemsKey Differences in a NutshellIn…

continuing to think about data a lot. juliana says they hoped the logs and memories of the people from omicron theta would give data Something To Work Off Of For Social Situations. i wonder to what extent he did reference them at first. like, in thine own self when he loses his memory for a minute he just blankly repeats everything that's said to him until he seems to remember how to actually form original sentences. i can imagine data after first being found and activated just directly quoting sentences from the journals in his brain until he works out how to actually use language himself.

People are kinda unhinged about Checo's Red Bull contract renewal...
Like yes, I was also surprised that Checo got signed for 2 years (though if it's 1+1 that some ppl are saying it is, it is more understandable) but come on, taking so much time just to comment and spam hate? Ridiculous and so immature.
And who should've replaced him? There are only so many available F1 drivers. So many haters are from the Versainz-lineup side (I too would've loved Versainz lol just for the vibes), but come on, realistically, Carlos was never going to work (just look at the Torro Rosso days...) and anyway it was news weeks ago that Carlos/Red Bull had no interest in signing a contract. I can see why some may say Yuki should be there but I can also understand why Red Bull may not want to promote him yet (no I will not elaborate because *gunshots*). And tbh, whichever driver they put in that seat, will still be crushed by Max. In fact, I think one of Checo's strong points is that he's managed to last fairly well against Max mentally- until last year where he got in over his head with the early talks of him possibly becoming wdc. Besides, even if you think another driver should have gotten that seat, it does not justify all the hate.
Also, some are just straight up delusional like somehow spinning it to hate on Max? E.g. those who think Max masterminded the whole contract (crazy take tbh) or got angry at Max for saying smt along the lines of how he's happy for Checo. Like what do you want him to say? "Omfg I hate having Sergio Perez as my teammate I wish [insert name of rando driver said angry person wanted to replace Checo] was my teammate instead!!" Be so fr guys.

I don't know that I've seen a quarterback exerting that kind of pressure on the organization....Joe Burrow has been incredibly consistent and vocal about wanting to keep Tee Higgins around...
Burrow's contract has already forced Cincinnati to start doing some things that they don't normally do. He has already broken rules that the Bengals have typically had in terms of how they handle their contracts. Like his deal is the type of deal that they don't sign previously. So they've already made exceptions...started to modernize...started to act the way the rest of the NFL does, because Burrow is so special...so if he was able to make them do that for his own contract, is he able to make them do that to keep Tee Higgins in the building? To go in a different direction than they would normally do?
#really liked this segment from check the mic#i typically like these guys. they discuss things in a very objective data driven non-hysterical way#which is refreshing for national media lol#i don't agree with everything they say on a bengals level just because again they're national so they aren't going to be#the most up to date on all 32 teams#like for instance as a follow up to this. steve says that they can't pay everyone. but all the local people have done the math. they can!#but regardless. i really like this because a. pointing out again how unique it is for joe to be doing this much public advocating#again. wish he didn't have to!! but love that he is! he's always gonna stand on business for his guys!!#and b. i like that sam points out like hey. the bengals HAVE shown they can do a modern contract!!#with like guaranteed money in the future and void years and all that fancy stuff!#of course they have ONLY done it with joe. and i'm sure very very begrudgingly (as evidenced by how fucking long it took them lol)#but. hey! it /could/ be a sign they're willing to do this for other players#like ja'marr i'm sure wanted an equivalent modern structure (more guaranteed money in future years and such!)#and that's part of the reason he didn't sign last year even when the amounts were fine. he wanted to get the same treatment as joe#(deservedly so!)#and because the bengals refused to budge on that they didn't get the deal done. the year before he breaks all these records#and gets the triple crown. making the price go WAY up#so you'd think they have to regret that right? had to have learned from it?? (you'd THINK)#so perhaps they can compare risk and find that actually you SHOULD do these modern contracts. and do them early!#and it actually pays off in the end!#anyway. all this to say. i like that so much of the media has taken note of joe's actions here#and god god god i hope it all pays off#joe burrow#cincinnati bengals

Requested a copy of the personal data tumblr has on me.
I'm trying to think how I feel about them keeping track of my answers for every single poll I've ever voted in. Knowing they could sell this information if they wanted, even though I opted out. I think I'll be more cautious with my answers in the future.

sometimes following your dreams means working a regular boring 8-4 job while doing what you love on the side. there's much less pressure when you're not depending on your passion for your whole income

I wonder if Marchement is not going to come back and it’s just easier for them in terms of paperwork and everything to just keep her on LTIR. It doesn’t hurt how many people are on the roster or under contract because they are able to sign a replacement for anyone on LTIR and the contract is only until after this season
Yeah i guess the only question is: is her contract currently suspended? Because if it is then she has next year. If not she’s probably still getting paid and it would be over at the end of this season (and they would want to try to get her back) but yeah we have a lot of people that would be tough to waive (also our reserve list is full so if anyone got waived when someone returns from ltir they’d probably get picked up by another team)

I ran out of jokes, so, uh. I'm just gonna write programming thoughts here now and continue the bit when it comes up.
I'm a massive shill for procedural programming - I think breaking a program up into data types and things you do to those types makes the most sense - but there's one thing I do miss about OOP: interfaces and the specific flavor of polymorphism (and composition) they brought to the table.
I know polymorphism is largely a mark against OOP. But, really, the ability to switch data types out by just implementing another that uses the same interface? It's so nice and I miss it so much!

Watched a video about these "AI assistants" that Meta has launched with celebrity faces (Kendall Jenner, Snoop Dogg etc.). Somebody speculated/mentioned in the comments that eventually Meta wants to sell assistant apps to companies, but that makes ... no sense.
If they mean in the sense of a glorified search engine that gives you subtly wrong answers half the time and can't do math, sure - not that that's any different than the stuff that already exists (????)
But if they literally mean assistant, that's complete bogus. The bulk of an assistant's job is organizing things - getting stuff purchased, herding a bunch of hard-to-reach people into the same meeting, booking flights and rides, following up on important conversations. Yes, for some of these there's already an app that has automated the process to a degree. But if these processes were sufficiently automated, companies would already have phased out assistant positions. Sticking a well-read chat bot on top of Siri won't solve this.
If I ask my assistant to get me the best flight to New York, I don't want it to succeed 80 % of time and the rest of the time, book me a flight at 2 a.m. or send me to New York, Florida or put me on a flight that's 8 hours longer than necessary. And yes, you can probably optimize an app + chat bot for this specific task so it only fails 2 % of the time. But you cannot optimize a program to be good at everything–booking flights, booking car rentals, organizing catering, welcoming people at the front desk and basically any other request a human could think off. What you're looking for is a human brain and body. Humans can improvise, prioritize, make decisions, and, very importantly, interact freely with the material world. Developing a sufficiently advanced assistant is a pipe dream.
