If the blue headdress worn by Pat Carroll in "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" was worn by Matthew Porretta in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights," could Dave Chapelle be wearing Barbara Ruick's peach headdress?
Indeed he is! I haven't posted it yet, but will be eventually!

Joe: This woman is the most adorable creature I've ever been in contact with. If she turns out even to be as good-looking as a mailbox… I'd be crazy not to turn my life upside down and marry her.

John Mulaney made a career out of doing the kind of stand up comedy that people who don’t like comedians who are offensive for the sake of being offensive can enjoy, and has been praised for that
So why did he think having a comedian whose main thing right now is going “I’m gonna offend trans people and nobody can stop me” open for him and do exactly that?
How could he have possibly thought his audience would react well to that

Saw your tag, what jokes had John Mulaney had that are transphobic? I can think of the drag Queen one on the first album but that specially about drag Queens. A lot of the stuff he wrote for Stefan was ableist , but I can’t think of particularly transphobic jokes on his three Netflix specials, is it in his new stuff? Also I am not challenging that you’re right I just would like to be aware. Thanks!
On Friday, during one of his shows, he invited Dave Chapelle to frontline without notifying anyone in attendance. Chapelle has made a name for himself as a really transphobic performer, and sure enough most of his material last night was transphobic, homophobic, and ableist jokes (one of which involved beastiality and an audience member's service dog). John purposely made no sure one was able to use their phones to record the show, knowing Dave would be making horrific and offensive jokes (as he thanked the crowd for not having a violent reaction). He spent the evening laughing at Dave's jokes and embraced him on stage afterward, calling him his best friend. There are multiple accounts of what happened and a few articles written about the show on twitter, but like I said, no video footage. John fully knew what he was doing by inviting Dave.
Here are a few more articles about it. (x) (x) (x)

Privilege is a hell of a drug and, while comedy and satire are important, you need to use that power responsibly.
If you're punching down at the less privileged, you are not using that power responsibly.
Listen to George Carlin's words on this, uttered on the Larry King show in 1990.
[cw for outdated language: use of "the gays" and the term "gypsy"]
As a paraphrase of Terry Pratchett states, "Satire is meant to ridicule power. If you are laughing at people who are hurting, it's not satire, it's bullying."

In light of the John Mulaney being a dick stuff, Tumblr strikes again so I just wanna throw it out there
I did like John Mulaney but only based on the stand up show on Netflix (Horse in a hospital one), I don't follow his life and I haven't actively tried to seek out his other comedy. And I imagine many others are the same.
But there's so many posts saying "he's always been racist and ableist, why are you surprised?" And "hey white trans people, if this is your final straw maybe look at why that is. Obviously you don't care about racism and ableism" Stop it! It doesn't help anyone saying someone was always shitty and accusing people who didn't know, especially those who were at the show and shocked by Dave Chapelle appearing on stage. I fucking hate the weird thing of tumblr expecting everyone to know everything about all celebrities and every work they've ever done. John Mulaney is shitty, it doesn't mean people who didn't know before are bad people

I just wanna say, I made this months ago and am still really proud of it, but I no longer like John Mulaney. I do not stand for his actions, nor do I agree with his impassiveness towards transphobia. That being said, if there's any suggestion for someone to take his place, I'm totally up to redraw his part. I'm thinking Thomas Sanders? Edit: I did it!

Let's say — hypothetically — someone DOES NOT want to support Netflix, but DOES want to watch some of their stand-up comedy specials.
.............
Like, is there a cure for that?
I've heard about resources for lots of different kinds of streaming content. Movies, anime, TV series, whatever. It's crazy how much y'all have found out there on the webz.
Never seen ANY resource like those for stand-up comedy, though. Which is interesting.

Anyway when talking about Dave chapelle on John Mulaneys show incident dont leave out that Chapelle sexually harrassed a disabled woman in the audience by asking if she ever let her assistance dog perform sexual acts on her, doubting the usefulness of the dog and equating it to just a servant that brings beer. That is also extremely disgusting and should be mentioned when talking about this
