what's ameridan's relationship with drakon like? is it as close as history would have it? does he agree with drakon's expansion of orlais and the spread of the chant? does he think it could/should be done differently?
open inbox !!
the knife is sweet when it splits his palm, his brother’s open hand to clasp sweeter yet. embers spit witness as they drip into the fire, the way of kordillus’ grandfathers, but ameridan knows no anxiety. the only force that binds him here is love.
this oath i do give freely up to thee; the one who dares to spill thy blood spills mine. from all thy foemen shall i shelter thee; away from all dark places shall i redeem. now let my hours of life hold fast to thine. o maker mine pray hear me — be it ever thus!
history doesn’t have the half of it.
they’re in the dictionary next to ‘homoeroticism’.
drakon is to ameridan as jonathan is to david. as achilles is to patroclus. temujin to jamukha. eliwood to hector. odin and loki. guan yu, liu bei, and zhang fei.
if you were to read about their lives you’d probably say to yourself what a flaming pair of homosexuals and then a swarm of Historians™ would rise from their graves and push up their glasses and go ackshuallyyy they were just close friends —
they were far more than close friends. they were sworn brothers. they made blood-oaths to each other. they considered these vows to be holy, and just as if not more binding than those they made to their actual wives. with our modern sensibilities we could accurately describe them as queerplatonic. even when they were separated by entire nations one always had the sense that the other wasn't far behind.
this was fairly well-known by their contemporaries. we see codex entries stating that orlesian nobles assumed that ameridan would have a place on drakon's council with them, even though he is a foreign agent. a dalish mage had a reserved position in orlais' government with apparently not that much argument. inquisitor or not, that's insane! sources from the dales are less flattering in their reception of their bond, openly accusing ameridan of having conflicting and borderline treasonous interests, but even they don't deny the loyalty ameridan and drakon show each other.
by the dragon age historians had begun to debate this, in part due to deliberate suppression during the glory age. in the years leading to the exalted march on the dales, it suited propagandists to emphasize ameridan's elvhenness, exaggerating his heathen and untrustworthy nature. once hatred and distrust of elves was well-woven into the social fabric and the exalted march was over, they simply removed any references to him beyond the fact that a man named ameridan once lived and served as inquisitor. the end. with few surviving orlesian sources and next to no surviving dalish sources, history has only questions: were they lovers? kin? enemies? acquaintances at best? no one knows anymore.
they were soulmates; ea nas'falon.
we must keep in mind three things when it comes to examining orlais' early expansion: first, drakon believes (and ameridan likely also believes) that the return of the maker is an imminent event. not only could it happen in their lifetimes, they want it to happen in their lifetimes. second, the tevinter imperium has been greatly weakened but still remains a threat, particularly centers of power in parts of thedas that andraste's rebellion did not reach. these outposts are well-established, self-sufficient, and have had firm hold on the local populaces for generations. third, as the second blight builds it becomes increasingly obvious that a large, unified, and dedicated force is going to be needed to put it down. they have to manage that without leaving themselves vulnerable to any enemies that would take advantage of their distraction. when ameridan says that if the dales don't come to orlais' aid they will lose everything they have gained he isn't speaking metaphorically in terms of diplomacy or social progress. he very literally means 'someone will come and fuck us up while our enormous buffer zone is otherwise occupied'.
it's also just the right thing to do, but he knows by now that argument won't have as much traction.
all of this is to say that through a combination of the personal faith ameridan has in drakon, the religious faith he has in general, and his determination to preserve both their peoples from the lingering and opportunistic evils of the imperium and the general chaos of a world still floundering in its power-vacuum — he does encourage drakon's expansion of both his borders and of the chant. there are moments they disagree, but drakon tends to heed his counsel. there are moments they both come to regret, but they find strength and solace in each other. what they both want more than anything is to leave behind a better world. even if it's only a little better.
perfect is the enemy of good.
of course, hindsight is 20/20. in the divine age, there's always something happening that reminds ameridan why what they do is what must be done. there is always some new evil thing on the heels of the last to contend with. all of them, their entire extended circle, are too close to the moment, to the bleak reality of the world-that-is to be able to accurately predict the world-that-will-be.
maker forgive us.
800 years later it is insultingly easy to follow the branching lines of all their mistakes, the ones they knew they were making at the time as well as the ones they did not. ameridan hates himself for not being able to see this at the time. he curses that they hadn't thought it through just a little more, that they hadn't put up a safeguard here or there for the corruption and abuses that looking back now seem to have been inevitable. his own memories seem untrustworthy when their contradictions stand before him. worse, he doubts whether drakon loved him true. and worst of all, he still has no real idea how they could have done anything differently.
mala ar shivasan su na; relina mar lin relin 'ma. juharilla na ea 'ma'harillen; 'a'lethalen ea emma. ar ne arlise'amelan — ame lathan, ma ane emma vhen'an. sahl'in hasir var asahngar; sahl'in himan uthaan tamaris.
the words bleed well-practiced from his tongue, sincere and sacred, the beloved face he cradles more sincere and sacred yet. his cherished friend, his only brother, the one who knows him to his core…
drawing his lethallin close to his breast, kordillus seals this vow in the way of ameridan’s grandfathers — with a kiss.
#skyheld#⟬ verse ⟭ i've lean vianvallas athdhea.#⟬ kordillus drakon i ⟭ sahl'in himan uthaan tamaris.#‘drakon is my oldest friend’ on a technicality really#he’s known both telana and haron longer but one is his wife and the other is his cousin so#i spent way more time writing the vows than i had any right to but fun fact: ameridan swears in drakon’s language in the poetic verse -#- typical to the ciriane (iambic pentameter)#drakon swears in elven in the poetic verse typical to THAT tradition (hallelujah cadence) yes he asked telana to help him memorize it#they’re not married they’re something far worse and more important#i... don't know if i answered this satisfactorily but i hope so asfdsf

i'm real sorry to bother you !!! but since i know you're pretty hyperfixated on the bible,, heavily on david (and jonathan),, i just wanted to ask if you had any concept for solomon!! since i think the figure is pretty neat in my own personal opinion, i thought it'd be cool to ask :DDDD
I don’t have any unique ideas for Solomon, to be honest! I kind of see him as that quiet, smart kid who ends up with too many wives. 😎
But I do really like the story of him and Queen Sheba. It’s really short, but at the same time, it has big significance depending on which religion views it. I truly believe Solomon is a 'wife guy.' I mean, the Bible kind of shames him for it. His wives want to practice their religions, and he respects that by building temples just for them!? That’s dedication! But apparently, it’s a bad thing to make his country multicultural, I guess. 😂

Actress and Author, Lara Parker, of Dark Shadows, Passes at 84
Lara Parker, who found the role of a lifetime at just 28 years old when she was cast by Dark Shadows producer Dan Curtis as the beautiful, vengeful and altogether evil witch Angelique Bouchard Collins, died October 12 in her sleep in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer. She was 84.
Her death was announced by producer Jim Pierson of Dan Curtis Productions, on behalf of Parker’s family.
“I’m heartbroken, as all of us are who knew and loved her,” said her Dark Shadows co-star and longtime friend Kathryn Leigh Scott in a statement. “She graced our lives with her beauty, talent and friendship, and we are all richer for having had her in our lives.”
Parker was born Mary Lamar Rickey on Oct. 27, 1938, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her father, Albert, was an attorney, and her mother, Ann, was active in civic groups.
She graduated from Central High School in Memphis and attended Vassar — she roomed with Jane Fonda there — and Rhodes College in Memphis, where at 19 she served as Wink Martindale’s assistant on his WHBQ-TV show, Dance Party. She then earned a master’s degree from the University of Iowa.
Parker, who also authored four popular Dark Shadows-related novels from 1998-2016, arrived on the supernatural soap opera in 1967, not long after Canadian actor Jonathan Frid had been cast as vampire Barnabas Collins. Frid’s storyline changed the show from a moody, Gothic Jane Eyre-type serial into a flat-out horror show.
During breaks in production, Parker acted on Broadway in September 1968 in Woman Is My Idea, which lasted just five performances, and in the early Brian De Palma film Hi, Mom! (1970), starring Robert De Niro.
And toward the end of the daytime serial, she and fellow castmembers including John Karlen, Kate Jackson, David Selby and Grayson Hall appeared in the poorly received MGM film Night of Dark Shadows (1971).
In 1972, Parker relocated to Los Angeles and went on to appear on episodes of such shows as Medical Center, Kojak, The Rockford Files, Police Woman, Kolchak: The Night Stalker (as a witch) and The Incredible Hulk, where she played David Banner’s first wife in a flashback sequence in the pilot.
In her later years, Parker turned to writing and teaching — her novels include Angelique’s Descent (1998), The Salem Branch (2006), Wolf Moon Rising (2013) and Heiress of Collinwood (2016). The books proved popular among Dark Shadows‘ still-devoted, conventions-attending fan base, as well as devotees of romance and horror genre novels.
Parker kept in touch with her co-stars including Scott, Selby, Roger Davis, the late John Karlen and others throughout her life, particularly once the conventions became annual events in the late 1980s through the 1990s and up to the 50th anniversary celebration in 2017.
Many of the original cast, including Parker, recorded a series of Dark Shadows audio dramas in the 2000s released by Big Finish Productions. They also reunited for a “Smartphone Theatre” Zoom-style, Covid-era performance of A Christmas Carol in 2021 and, on Halloween night 2020, a YouTube/Zoom Dark Shadows cast reunion.
Parker is survived by second husband Jim Hawkins, daughter Caitlin, sons Rick and Andy, and their wives Miranda and Celia; and grandson Wesley.

I've found the best characters for my AEW/WWE Fan-Fiction stories, I got the main boys from the Vampire Diaries and the Originals, and got the three married wives and a former girlfriend turned friend.
We know that most of the wrestlers here will be faces or heels, but I want them as the baddest bosses while the good guys are gonna be portrayed as sixteen newcomers who's shorter.
I got Jordan "Dan" Sweeto, Kayleigh "Wolfy" Smyth | Wolfychu, Patrick "Patty" Walters, Dorothy "Dottie" Martin, Johnnie Guilbert, Alexandria "Alex" Dorame, James Tyler Hagen, Shannon "Shan" Taylor, Nathan "Nate" Owens, Leda "Monster Bunny" Muir, Damon "Dee" Fizzy, Carson Fanikos, Luke Jeydon Wale, Samantha "Sam" Rochelle, Kyle David Hall, and Meghan Marie Hogan for the OC portrayals cause I like people within the goth/punk/emo/scene style.
I figured that modern day of straight history meets attitude era for their bad influence; my sixteen OCs doesn't care for the rules and are the most rebellious people in WWE.
This takes place from SummerSlam 2012 for the Fallen Angels and their first victory in Night of Champions: Gold Rush; Survivor Series 2012 for the Shield and their first victory in TLC; Royal Rumble 2013 for the Dark Gods and their first victory in Elimination Chamber; WrestleMania 29 for the Resistance and their first victory in Extreme Rules; they're known as the Pack of Lone Wolves.
For each OC stable...their names are the following; the Unholy Circle for the girls, the Genesis for the girls, the Blood Order for the boys, and the Demolition for the boys; they're the Pride of Wild Lions.
Comment down on ring names for my OCs and follow me at Wattpad on GlampireRockstar...sayonara guys!

Blog Blitz: The Love Remedy by Elizabeth Everett

Order
Add to Goodreads
Publication Date: March 19, 2024
Welcome to The Love Remedy book blitz with Berkley Publishing Group. (This blog blitz post is also posted on my Wordpressbook blog Whimsical Dragonette.)
Synopsis:
When a Victorian apothecary hires a stoic private investigator to protect her business, they learn there’s only one way to treat true love—with a happily ever after. When Lucinda Peterson’s recently perfected formula for a salve to treat croup goes missing, she’s certain it’s only the latest in a line of misfortunes at the hands of a rival apothecary. Outraged and fearing financial ruin, Lucy turns to private investigator Jonathan Thorne for help. She just didn’t expect her champion to be so . . . grumpy? A single father and an agent at Tierney & Co., Thorne accepts missions for a wide variety of employers—from the British government to wronged wives. None have intrigued him so much as the spirited Miss Peterson. As the two work side by side to unmask her scientific saboteur, Lucy slips ever so sweetly under Thorne’s battered armor, tempting him to abandon old promises. With no shortage of suspects—from a hostile political group to an erstwhile suitor—Thorne’s investigation becomes a threat to all that Lucy holds dear. As the truth unravels around them the cure to their problems is they must face the future together.
Author Bio
Elizabeth Everett lives in upstate New York with her family. She likes going for long walks or (very) short runs to nearby sites that figure prominently in the history of civil rights and women's suffrage. Her series is inspired by her admiration for rule breakers and her belief in the power of love to change the world.
Photo credit: Asa Shutts; from Elizabeth Everett's website.
My Rating: ★★★★★
*My Review and Non-Exclusive Excerpt below the cut.
My Review:
This is an engaging story about two people who are each carrying heavy burdens learning to let each other in. There are fun cameos from the women scientists books if you recognize them, but you can also read it without reading the other series.
I really liked all the characters. They were complex and felt very real. I loved Sadie and her gleeful recounting of all the facts she learned at her science school. Lucy was strong and determined but also bent to the point of breaking under the weight of her responsibilities. Thorne was closed off and rigid and desperately in need of someone breaking him out of his self-imposed shell.
The romance wasn't swoony but was more subtle, a gradual and reluctant giving in to a partnership of mutual appreciation and aide. I really liked that. I prefer a quiet partnership to a grand passionate romance anyway.
What I appreciate most about this story though, is how fiercely feminist it is. Lucy is determined to continue running the apothecary and providing real cures to people who can't afford them. Her sister Juliet works to provide medical and reproductive care to women in need. Her brother David seems flighty but has his own crusade. Lucy is also determined that every woman should be given the method and means to prevent pregnancy and induce menses if that choice is taken from them.
All of this flies in the face of Thorne's upper-class upbringing of what a 'good' woman should do and know, and serves to create the major conflict between them. Lucy refuses to compromise on her ideals and she shouldn't have to.
The author's note at the end brings that struggle into even starker relief. Elizabeth Everett makes it very clear where she stands on the issue of women's reproductive rights and more power to her. It's an issue that deserves fighting for and taking a strong stance on.
I would say that the writing and character development of this is even better than the women scientists series and I look forward to her next book.
*Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for providing an early copy for review.
Non-Exclusive Excerpt:
Lucy's guilt had been squeezing the breath from her lungs for weeks. On the counter, slightly dented from having been crushed in her fist, then thrown to the ground and stepped on, then heaved against the wall, sat a grimy little tin. Affixed to the top was a label with the all-too-familiar initials RSA. Rider and Son Apothecary. Rider and Son. The latter being the primary reason for this very worst of days. The longer she stared at the tin, the less Lucy felt the strain of responsibility for running Peterson's Apothecary and keeping her siblings housed and fed. Beneath the initials were printed the words Rider's Lozenges. The ever-present exhaustion that had weighed her down moments ago began to dissipate at the sight of the smaller print beneath, which read "exclusive." The more she stared, the more her guilt subsided beneath a wave of anger that coursed through her blood. "Exclusive patented formula for the relief of putrid throats." Exclusive patented formula. The anger simmered and simmered the longer she stared until it reached a boil and turned to rage. Grabbing her paletot from the coatrack and a random bonnet that may or may not have matched, Lucy stormed out of the shop, slamming the door behind her with a vengeance that was less impressive when she had to turn around the next second to lock it. Exclusive patent. The words burned in her brain, and she clenched her hands into fists. One warm summer afternoon four months ago, Lucy had been so tired, she'd stopped to sit on a park bench and had closed her eyes. Only for a minute or two, but long enough for a young gentleman passing by to notice and be concerned enough for her safety to inquire as to her well-being. While the brief rest had been involuntary, remaining on the bench and striking up a conversation with the handsome stranger was her choice, and a terrible one at that. Lucy had allowed Duncan Rider to walk her home, not questioning the coincidence that the son of her father's rival had been the one to find her vulnerable and offer his protection was down to her own stupidity. Now, as Lucy barreled down the rotting walkways of Calthorpe Street, she barely registered the admiring glances from the gentlemen walking in the opposite direction or the sudden appearance of the wan November sun as it poked through the gray clouds of autumn. Instead, her head was filled with memories so excruciating they jabbed at her chest like heated needles, rousing feelings of shame alongside her resentment. Such as the next time she'd seen Duncan, when he appeared during a busy day at the apothecary with a pretty nosegay of violets. He'd smelled like barley water and soap, a combination so simple and appealing it had scrambled her brains and left her giddy as a goose. Or the memory of how their kisses had unfolded in the back rooms of the apothecary, turning from delightfully sweet to something much more carnal. How kisses had proceeded to touches, and from there even more, and how she'd believed it a harbinger of what would come once they married. A shout ripped Lucy's attention back to the present, and she jerked back from the road, missing the broad side of a carriage by inches. The driver called out curses at her over his shoulder, but they bounced off her and scattered across the muddied street as Lucy turned the corner onto Gray's Inn Road. Halfway through a row of weathered stone buildings, almost invisible unless one knew what to look for, a discreet brass plaque to the left of a blackened oak door read: Tierney & Co., Bookkeeping Services Lucy took a deep breath, pulling the dirty brown beginnings of a London fog into her lungs and expelling it along with the remorse and shame that accompanied her memory of Duncan holding her handwritten formula for a new kind of throat lozenge she'd worked two years to perfect.
"I'll just test it out for you, shall I?" he'd said, eyes roaming the page. Duncan and his father had long searched for a throat lozenge remedy that tasted as good as it worked. Might Duncan be tempted to impress his father with her lozenge? His lips curled up on one side as he read, and Lucy recalled the slight shadow of foreboding moving across the candlelight in the back storeroom where they carried out their affair. "I don't know," she'd hedged. Too late. He'd folded the formula and distracted her with kisses. "I've more space and materials at my disposal. I know you think this is ready to sell, but isn't it better that we take the time to make sure?" It might have been exhaustion that weakened Lucy just enough that she took advantage of an offer to help shoulder some of her burdens. However, the decision to let Duncan Rider walk out of Peterson's Apothecary with a formula that was worth a fortune was due not to her sleepless nights, but to a weakness in her character that allowed her to believe a man when he told her he loved her. Now, four months later, somehow Duncan had again betrayed her. Having already lost the lozenge formula to Duncan's avaricious grasp, Lucy had been horrified to find a second formula missing. She'd come up with a salve for treating babies' croup, a remedy even more profitable than the lozenges. What parent wouldn't pay through the nose to calm a croupy baby? Lucy was certain that Duncan must have found out about her work and stolen both the formula and ingredient list for the salve. This time, Lucy would not dissolve into tears and swear never to love again. This time, she was going eviscerate her rival and get her formula back. Then she would swear never to love again.

SELF-ENCOURAGEMENT
SELF-ENCOURAGEMENT
1 Samuel 30:6
How much do you love and value yourself? We all need encouragement at some point in life, but too often we tend to look outside to others for encouragement when we could start it ourselves.
David was one man who knew how to look to himself before looking outwards. And David encouraged himself in the Lord! David strengthened himself in the Lord! This is one statement that looks so lacking yet so full and encouraging.
David didn’t have many people around him in this time of distress to encourage him, but he didn’t let that deter him from carrying on. Instead, he looked up to God for what man couldn’t give him. We quote this scripture, but how much of it has sunk in?
Everyone needs encouragement in life. All of us, at some point, will face a crisis that will make us crave external encouragement, but there are bound to be times when, with no one around or willing, we must get ourselves out of the crisis with the help of the Lord.
But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. Rather than despairing over the destruction of Ziklag, David turned to God in prayer and worship, putting his trust completely in the Lord.
David went through a lot of crises—personal, physical, spiritual, and emotional—but at each point, there was someone available to encourage him, like his friend Jonathan did in 1 Samuel 23:16-17. But here, he had no one because the crisis was on everyone. They were in despair and needed someone as a scapegoat. Who better than David, their leader?
But David, having no one to turn to, with everyone against him, sought the Lord and spent time in His presence to receive the encouragement he so desperately needed.
I have gone through all kinds of crises, and there were times when I didn’t know how the Lord was going to pull me through, but He did. Sometimes, the Lord used the wonderful people He placed around me to encourage me. Other times, it may be a piece of music or worship, and often, it was a whisper through the scriptures. Regardless of what and how I received it, encouragement came from an external source.
There were other occasions when I couldn’t put words together to tell anyone what and how I felt. Those were the times I relied on myself, like David, to encourage myself in the Lord.
Self-encouragement is a powerful tool to help us navigate through tough times and stay motivated.
Positive Affirmations: Repeating positive statements about yourself can boost your confidence and morale.
"I am capable and strong."
"I can handle whatever comes my way."
"I am worthy of love and respect".
Remind yourself of times when you overcame challenges. This can help you realize your strength and resilience.
Whether we have the support of friends and loved ones when facing crises or face them alone (believe it or not, there will be times we all must face some things alone), take heart. God will always be there to empower and encourage us as promised in Psalm 23:4, so that we don’t face opposition alone. He’ll give us the courage and strength to go through them.
We must first trust Him and turn to Him in times of distress as David did. David and his company of six hundred men had been off serving in the military of King Achish of Gath and had left their wives and children in Ziklag unprotected. A raiding band of Amalekites, long-time enemies of Israel, came down on the village, captured the women and children, looted the place, and carried off everything of value, leaving nothing but rubbish behind.
This was the first time we hear of David’s men’s distress and discouragement. Why? Their wives, children, and properties had been damaged and taken. No wonder they were angry with David. We weren’t told that David lost heart but rather that he encouraged himself in the Lord. In the face of hostility, the threat of death, and defeat, he looked up to the Lord.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for your word that uplifts and encourages. Help me to always seek the word and allow it to revive and encourage me in times of despair. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Shalom

Need to take a moment to talk about these books I have lol.
These books about David/Jonathan, I love and hate. Idk, like, I just can’t point out exactly, it’s probably the way David/Jonathan are depicted, but it really does frustrate me a little while reading this David/Jonathan trilogy.
It’s genuinely written well, like the writing isn’t corny or overly detailed lol. But it’s written with a Christian perspective, so David and Jonathan aren’t gay in this (sigh). 😞 But in these books, usually each chapter goes back and forth from Jonathan and David’s pov, and I love that.
The first two books are in David and Jonathan’s pov, but in the third book “My Father the King”, it’s in David and Mephibosheth’s pov. I get a lot of inspo for Mephi’s story from this book, but I actually have yet to finish the book because I’m too scared to finish 😭 (it’s literally just like my situation with the Prince’s Psalm atm lmaoo)
But just from reading the first two books, it’s so obviously written for them to be in love. The books are literally about their relationship. David and Jonathan meets, they connect, they share their deepest secrets and feelings, they fight side by side, and David even saves Jonathan from dying in battle!! Jonathan gets shot by arrows, and David wouldn’t stop visiting him. And you know what, Jonathan also saves David from dying in battle! And there’s a moment where David and Jonathan finds a waterfall, and Jonathan would playfully shove David into the water, and they would swim together on a cool night, just like the Simba and Nala water scene from The Lion King with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” playing in the background if you know what I mean 😭 like AAAABABBAAAKSK, and throughout the books, even in the third book, David won’t stop yapping about how he constantly sees Jonathan in his dreams, as well as Jonathan who can’t get David out of his mind 😭 LIKE- NAHHH ☠️ hello??? Yeah, they’re definitely not in love or something… 🤔
But you know what, reading these books frustrated me so much.. The author made sure to constantly pull out the “we’re just friends!” card, so often 💀 it honestly doesn’t make sense to me ngl, from they way wanted to depict David and Jonathan’s relationship. Let me just say- if you’re going to dedicate an entire trilogy about David and Jonathan’s relationship only… there’s no fucking way you can pull it off as them just being “friends”, idk, it’s just not possible to me. The author would do this by, of course, “giving them a wife tactic”, but literally in the book, they cared more about each other than their wives LOL.
But yeah, my little review of this trilogy that I’ve been wanting to talk about. You can always check it out for yourself, I’d say I only recommend it if you like David retellings in general and if you want some Jonathan angst. Not kidding with the Jonathan angst 😭 he is so angsty in the books and a literal punching bag because every bad thing would happen to him. Like I would read about David going on some adventure, and when I turn to the next chapter, Jonathan is absolutely doomed by something 😭
And also, if you can handle the random preaching in the books where David breaks the forth wall and says that G-d is awesome or something and Jesus is coming, y’know, then perhaps you’ll enjoy the series 👍 (or maybe not)
#sorry for rambling again lol#rambling about christian depictions of David and Jonathan lmao#david and jonathan book#david and jonathan#bible fandom#book of samuel#tanakh#yapping#biblical gays#mephibosheth#the prince's psalm

Baker History
The Baker cornerstone by Thomas John Baker.
Anthony Baker I is most likely my 4x great grandfather born in 1720 in Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. He married Hannah (no maiden name listed) was born about 1722 in Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. Together they had four known children: Jonathan, Anthony II, Simeon, and Sarah.
Anthony Baker II is my 3x great grandfather and the first confirmed descendant. He was born in 1754, Twenty-two years before the British Colonies declared their independence 1776. By the time the revolution began, Anthony who was a royalist, went to the Province of New Brunswick and came to St John on the ship "Hope" with the spring fleet in 1783, and spent the first winter in St John. In May of 1784 he was still in St John but by June he had left...probably to claim his land in the Kingston area. Anthony was a pew holder at the St. John's Church, Gagetown in 1792 and had several children baptized there. Anthony was very good with numbers and he became a surveyor of lumber at St John, New Brunswick. He was granted lands at Kingston, Northampton parish and Prince William, on the St John's River. He returned to the city of St. John in 1804, where he died probably about 1817. Anthony had two wives that are known. Mary Kelly (possibly known as Hannah Kelly) who was an Irish Quaker from Ireland and a second wife named Abigail Parker Woodworth who is my 3x great grandmother. Altogether Anthony had thirteen children: With Mary (Hanna) – Jonathan, Simeon, Jesse, Samuel, Hannah, Anthony, Elizabeth, and David. With Abigail – Abigail, Hannah, Parker, Benjamin Griffith, and George Smally. Of these Benjamin Griffith is my 2x great grandfather.[iii]
Benjamin Griffith Baker may have been named after a man named Benjamin Griffith, an officer in Delancey's Brigade. Benjamin married Leah Ann Walton at the Woodstock Anglican Church in York County, New Brunswick, (later became Carleton Co) on October 26, 1827. Going by the birth records for the children (1851 Census), it appears that Benjamin and Leah Ann moved to Ontario somewhere between 1835 and 1839. On March 18,1862, Benjamin received a patent on the Crown land, which he seemed to have been living on prior to 1851 (Lot 12, concession 7). He paid $160.00 for the land. There are several land transaction at this time, and he sold it for $1000.00. On May 27, 1865, Leah Ann bought some broken lots (lots 21 and 22). From this point on Leah Ann's name appears on all land records. This may indicate that Benjamin was in poor health. There seems to be several land transactions to get money. On June 1, 1882, Benjamin passed away after being sick for a week with congestion in his lungs. He was living with his son Samuel Baker in Dresden, Ontario at that time. Together Benjamin and Leah Ann had ten children: Elisha, Samuel, Jesse, Benjamin, George, Jane, Joseph, Margaret, David, and Henry.
Of these children, David is my great grandfather. David was born in Chatham Twp., Kent Co, Ontario in 1845. In the 1861 census, he listed himself as a laborer and by 1871, he had left home. His first wife was Susannah Buhl and their first child was John Benjamin, born about 1874 in Canada. Their second child, Mary, was born in Michigan about 1876. Therefore, it is quite possible David went to Michigan about 1877. He seems to have travelled there with his father-in-law, John Buhl and other in-laws. Their third child came into the world in 1878 also in Michigan and named William Albert. At some point Susannah died and David became a widower. At this point he must have traveled back into Canada where he and his second wife, Mary Jane Hare from Cromwell, England gave birth to his fourth child James Henry. His next two children, Robert and Eliza both were born Canada. He migrated to the United States in 1900 and became a US citizen in Randolph county, Missouri. He eventually settled in Watertown, South Dakota where his last child Laura was born. Of the children, of David and Mary, my grandfather was James Henry Baker.
James was born in Montreal Canada on November 10, 1882.[iv] He migrated to the United States and settled with his parents in Watertown, South Dakota. It was here that James apparently met my Grandmother, Marie Ann Larsen. They entered the bonds of matrimony on December 18, 1919. A few years later my father, Ralph, was born, their only child. While still living in Watertown, South Dakota, My grandfather on October 25, 1925 entered the Salvation Army. He apparently was an active member and was in their band. He played the Drums and held the rank of Drum Sargent. James lived a good life and was good with his hands as a carpenter. During the great depression, my grandfather possibly worked for the WPA on one of the bridges that span the Mississippi River.[v] In 1943, he was employed as a janitor at the University of Minnesota. He was responsible for cleaning Pioneer Hall. He kept this job until 1951 when he retired. After retiring James and his wife, Marie, lived on assisted living at varying locations in Minneapolis. James died in December of 1967.

[ii] Nicholas Baker may be Francis Baker’s father, but this is not a confirmed. Francis Baker who was born about 1611 is the first possibly known paternal descendant of the Baker family. The other possible parents of Francis are Thomas and Frances Ingram Baker. Thomas Baker Sr. is the son of Francis, in which Thomas Baker Jr. is his son. Thomas Baker III born in 1744, is the weak link in the chain, for if he is the son Thomas Baker Jr. how can Anthony Baker be his son, for Anthony was born in 1754. Therefore, there possibly is a different Thomas Baker here, or Thomas Baker Jr. is Anthony’s father. Yet, this all remains speculative, with research still taking place. See: https://www.familysearch.org/service/records/storage/das-mem/patron/v2/TH-904-57845-117-7/dist.txt?ctx=ArtCtxPublic and http://darrel-betty-hagberg.com/genealogy/mclaughlin/d0004/g0000094.html. Further, it is possible that John Baker, born in 1545 in Brookland, Kent, England, is the Father of Nicholas Baker, but there is no proof.
[iii] Hannah Baker is listed twice. Either, he had two daughters with the same name, which is doubtful, or Hannah Kelly or Abigail Parker Woodworth is her mother.
[iv] The place of James Baker’s birth is in question. It was believed that he was born in Montreal, Québec, but a record from the Ontario Births and Baptisms registry of 1779-1899, states that he was born in Enniskillen, Lambton, Ontario. This makes sense seeing that his Father David William Baker home was Chatham-Kent, Ontario, 32 miles away.
[v] The Works Progress Administration, (1935) - This program was led by Harry Hopkins and had a budget of five billion dollars. By 1936, four million people were employed as they built schools, parks, roads, irrigation dams, and other civic improvements. (Source - American History after 1865 by Ray A. Billington and Martin Ridge.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting notes:
The ancestors listed here may have a connection to what is above, although it would be nice. At least there is no connecting link found as of yet, but the research continues. See footnotes about i and ii.
The earliest possible information of any paternal descendant begins as early as the sixteenth century possibly with Nicholas Baker, born in 1585 in Suffolk, England. The next possible descendent of the Baker family is the son of Nicholas, Francis Baker of Herefordshire, England. He immigrated to North America and settled in the Massachusetts colony at Yarmouth along with his wife Isabel Twining (Baker) of Herefordshire, England. Together they had eight children: Nathaniel, John, Samuel, Elizabeth, Daniel, Thomas, William, and Hannah. Of these eight children it is possible that my 6x great grandfather is Thomas Baker Sr., born 1654 in Yarmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. He married Bathsheba (Bashua) Lewis Abt. 1699, who is the daughter of George Lewis and Mary Lumbard. “Thomas Baker Sr. was the son to whom most of [his] father's property was left. Possibly because the other sons had been provided for, Thomas being the only one still unmarried at the time of his father's death. Thomas and his mother were made joint executors of [his] father's will. Thomas lived at Yarmouth and shared in the division of common lands there in 1712, after which [there is] no further trace of him.”[i] Thomas and Bathsheba had two children Mary Baker and Thomas Baker Jr. Thomas Baker Jr. listed above is possibly my 5x great grandfather born in 1703. Thomas married Phoebe Chase in 1733. Nothing more is known about him except that together they had Six children: Hannah, Mary, Bathsheba, Benjamin, Thomas, and Eleazar and of these Thomas Baker III is my 4x great grandfather. He married Abigail, (whose last name is unknown). They had five children: Samuel, Elijah, Mary, Thomas, and Anthony.

"Quicksilver." From 1 Samuel 30. Part 1.
The term ziklag means "a pint of liquid metal." As to what this probably is, I'll let you fantasize, whereas the spiritual-esoteric meaning comes from the shapelessness of a man's future once he achieves the Third Day, freedom from all delusions about violence and its causes.
As far as its role in the Kingdom of David, which means "advancing the cause of beauty" we obtain purchase with a sublime meaning hidden in the underpants of the Torah. The Gematria for ziklag is 547, hadzah, AKA huzzah! or "woo hoo!" in English, which is the precise opposite of the word for stress:
30 When David and his men reached Ziklag three days later, they discovered that the Amalekites had raided the desert hill country. They had attacked Ziklag in David’s absence, burned it,
2 and carried away the women and all the other inhabitants whom David had left behind. None of them were killed, but they were taken captive and carried back toward Amalek.
3 So David and his men arrived in the burned city and found their wives, daughters, and sons gone, taken captive by the Amalekite raiders.
4 And when they saw this, they cried out and wept aloud until they could weep no more.
5 David’s wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel, were among those carried off.
The Amelakites, "the talkers" plagued Israel many times during its upbringing. No matter the effort the temple and the universities put into creating a non-violent, sentient, intelligent human race, some loudmouth, a leftover from our savage species days will be sure to come along and suggest some ridiculous costume we should all wear instead. This phenomenon, which fails to recognize humanity has not quite grasped how to be fully content yet, but it could and it should has to be addressed.
We are creating a race of reactively unattached, atypically developed monster men that want to read religious books, overwhelm civil society and turn the world into a hell on earth. The Torah and the Bhagavad Gita, even Christ said to put these people to the sword and move on.
It all begins when ziklag is attacked by talkers. God doesn't care what you do with your squirt gun, not in private, not if the boy or man or girl is of age, and has been properly educated.
The sin of Onan was not squeaking the grease, it was prejudice. Onan was told to interbreed with persons of other races and he said no and dumped his puddle on the ground and that was not what he was told to do.
Otherwise, all we are told is to do is wait till we are of age and are able to withstand the responsibilities associated with touching another person in their intimate locations.
David was no stranger to this- he seduced the Queen Prince of Israel, Jonathan and shagged his way into power, and the greatest romance of all time kickstarted the greatest Kingdom of all time, just like that.
David's future plans, his wives, suffered when his ziklag came under fire by the gossipers:
David’s wives were Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel:
Ahinoam=My Brother Is Delight, Kindred To Sweetness
Jezreel= God sows
The verb זרע (zara') means to scatter seed or to sow but may even describe merely extending one's arm or even a leg and ultimately signify the bearing of fruit or even children (hence referred to as one's seed).
Nouns זרע (zera') and זרוע (zerua') mean a sowing or that which is sown, and may refer to: seed, sperm, one child, offspring, posterity, family or a whole community. Nouns זרע (zeroa') and זרען (zer'on) specifically denote vegetables. And noun מזרע (mizra') literally means a place or agent of sowing.
Nouns זרוע (zeroa') or זרע (zeroa') or אזרוע ('ezroa') mean arm but are mostly used to figuratively to denote the seat of strength of a person or a nation or even of God.
Noun זרה (zara) also means to scatter but where זרע (zara') scatters seed to bear fruit, זרה (zara) scatters chaff and debris. It means to winnow. Noun מזרה (mizreh), describes place or agent of scattering, which in this case denotes a winnowing fork.
Abigail= to celebrate
The verb גלל (galal) primarily expresses rolling, whirling or heaping and may also denote a broad sweep (of land or time). Noun גל (gal) means heap or pile; גיל (gel), a heap specifically of dung; גלל (galal), dung; גלול (gillul), idols. Noun גלה (gulla) means bowl, basin or spring; noun גלילה (gelila), circuit, boundary or territory. Noun גליל (galil) denotes a supporting cylinder or rod; adjective גליל (galil), probably describes a cylindrical hinge column, noun מגלה (megilla) means scroll.
Noun גלגל (gilgal) means wheel; noun גלגל (galgal), wheel or whirlwind. Noun גלגלת (gulgoleth) means skull or head. In cognate languages verb גלל (galal) extends to also describe the nobility of someone who rules a region.
The parallel verb גיל (gil) expresses a circular motion as is mostly associated with expressions of joy and celebration (dance). Nouns גיל (gil) and גילה (gila) mean a rejoicing. Noun גיל (gil) describes a circle or time: an age.
Nabal of Carmel=
The denominative verb נבא (naba'), meaning to prophesy (1 Samuel 10:11, Amos 2:12, Jeremiah 2:8). This verb appears to be derived from the previous noun. Various experts list all sorts of possible origins of the concept of prophesying, but the basic idea seems to be a vicarious pronunciation of some kind of message.
The noun כרם (kerem) means vineyard. It occurs in many Semitic languages but its ultimate origin is unclear. Vineyards are mentioned over ninety times in the Old Testament, and in poetical and metaphorical passages the vineyard is a dominant symbol that commonly denotes the whole of mankind's culture. The derived noun כרמל (karmel) means plantation. An obviously related word is יין (yayan), meaning wine.
6 David, too, was in anguish. Some of his men talked about stoning him because they were so bitter about their families being taken. But David took comfort in the Eternal One, his True God.
7 He called for the priest, Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, and instructed him to bring the priestly vest, which he did.
David (to the Lord):
8 Should we pursue these raiders? Can we catch them?
Eternal One: Go after them. You will catch them, and you will certainly rescue your families.
Raiders are the little things people do to oppress the powerless, children in particular. To oppress little kids, to attempt to impress widely accepted but totally inaccurate ideas about sex, gender, masturbation, and intercourse is positively ruinous to them and to the adults that do it.
Humanity, as the Tanakh states, has endured quite a lot of unnecessary trouble, we could give it a rest and let people handle their pee pee just fine on the basis of their own jurisprudence:
Abiathar son of Ahimelech=
The verb יתר (yatar) means to remain or to be a rest (a remainder). It may emphasize the survival of some carnage (being the last ones left), but it may also emphasize surplus (rest money after all bills are paid). Noun יתר (yeter) means remnant; יתרה (yitra) means abundance; יותר (yoter) means superiority; יתרון (yitron) means excellence.
The nouns יתר (yeter) and מיתר (metar) describe cords to tie things together with. This indicates that a remnant is not simply that what remains, but rather that which kept the original collective together in the first place.
The noun אח ('ah) means brother, or more broadly: a fellow member of a social economic node (a "house") within a broader economic whole.
The noun מלך (melek) means king, and a king is not merely a glorified tribal chief but the alpha of a complex, stratified society, implying a court and a complex government.
The Bible insists that a society must be governed by a triad of anointed sovereigns, namely prophets, priests and the king. A good king causes his people to be prosperous and peaceful whereas a bad one causes poverty and strife.
The difference between the two is dictated by how close to the Law of Nature (a.k.a. the Word of God) the king operates. A kingdom that is wholly in tune with the Law consists of only sovereign individuals and is thus without a physical king.
The Gematria for this section, found in verse 7-8 is 9959, טטהט, thutt, from ash-tut, meaning "thought":
The written Torah doesn’t start with that world. The Torah begins with a beit—the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It starts at the second part of the story. But at first there was a world that just emanated out of thought—and never left that place.
The second part of the story is when all those thoughts descended to become a concrete world. A place that seems separate from its Creator, outside of its source. Like speech: Your words travel outside of you and become part of someone else.
That’s the world we live in for six days. A world that pretends to have no source. We try to push it around a little, it pushes us around a lot, and we both pretend that this is a real and autonomous world. That there is a world, and there is us, and we are all separate things.
But then, on the seventh day, the Creator let into this world a taste of that higher plane of the “World of Thought.” We tune into it by no longer pushing anything around—or letting anything else push us around.
The moment a boy can ejaculate is the moment his sentience truly begins. It is treated with incredible importance by the Torah. This is the moment the intense feelings that drive life onward and a capable frontal lobe in the brain begin to work together to formulate the meaning of life. It is an amazing opportunity God gave us. It means everything to the future of humanity to treat it with respect. And we are so very cruel about it, all of the time, to everyone we know.
This story shall continue.

Headcanons! Could I please ask for your headcanons on how David would have been like if Jonathan had lived!
(or, for the sake of not deviating the whole story altoghether bc either way David was meant to be king at some point. What if like, Jonathan had gone into hidding like what happened to Mephibosheth and later on met with David to tell him that, hey, he's actually alive so :D. Honestly im just asking bc the idea of Jonathan teaching Jedediah/Solomon how to court and judge others got stuck to my head when I was writting my Testament of Solomon rewritte and that got me to think even more like, would Jonathan get along with Abigail, would David had stopped seeking out women to marry if Jonathan had run away with him, would Absalom or the other childre of David had confided secrets in him more than with his father because they trusted him more, or would the court had tried to make Jonathan guilty of a coup at some point, maybe a lot of times, due to his past royal background, and ofc how would Jonathan have raised his son?)
Sorry if this was long ᓚᘏᗢ boop!
You are giving me food and being able to talk about it!!! :D
My headcanon would be if Jonathan had lived, his and David's relationship would have continued to be romantic and supportive!
I think Jonathan would first go into hiding and try to find his son first. Mephibosheth would still become disabled due to all the chaos when the news comes to the palace. But I don't think they would go into hiding for too long. Abner was supportive to Saul’s family first, heck, he probably would see David as a threat towards Jonathan instead.
And when they reunite, Jonathan would have either stepped down from his role as the next king or maximized David's status, so they would essentially be two kings ruling one kingdom. He did give an oath and his title as king to David when they last met each other, so it would make sense that he kept his word.
David would still pursue other marriages for political alliances, likewise Jonathan too. However, I do believe that David wouldn't take Michal back because the only reason why he forced her to be his wife again was that he pretty much wanted to secure his political position as a king. Having Jonathan there on his side already supporting him, it wouldn't be necessary to marry her. All his other wives, I think he would still marry them for political reasons. Bathsheba though… I don't think he would seek her out… Or maybe David would. For me, he is a bit promiscuous. But I do like the idea that he wouldn't be as interested if Jonathan were still around.
There is a scene in The Prince's Psalm where David and Jonathan talk to each other about their boundaries in their relationship. Jonathan wants children, but he doesn't want to pick a random woman only to discard her after giving birth to a child, he wants to honor his children's mother by marrying her and taking care of her. But also secured David by saying that it's okay for him as well to marry and love another woman too, but ended with the decision that they are not allowed to take any male lovers.
It sounds fun that Jonathan would be friends with Abigail. Maybe they are two peas in a pod because David picked Abigail for love, unlike the other wives. And Abigail is the same "type" as Jonathan. That would be cute.
I do think that the majority of the royal drama would be more about people not trusting David. The second book of Samuel is just David getting rid of all his political enemies and marrying every high-royal-woman to secure his position. The reason why Saul's other family members, such as Jonathan's half-brothers, revolt against David is that they are the "true" line of the royal lineage. So if Jonathan was still in the picture and became king, then that drama of power wouldn't be so much on the nose.
Absalom and David's other children might have indeed confided in Jonathan, finding solace and other stuff when David wasn't emotionally available. Especially when Amnon attacks Tamar and everything just crumbles. Maybe the situation would look different when David forgives Absalom for killing Amnon, and by having another parental figure, maybe Absalom wouldn't decide to revolt against his father?
And if Absalom still decided to revolt against David, Mephibosheth would still be left behind in safety in the royal palace. And I don't think that the servant Ziba would be able to trick David into "disowning" Mephibosheth when Absalom takes over the palace. I don't think Jonathan would ever let that happen, but also David and Mephibosheth's relationship would be different in a way. I have a headcanon that David is very overprotective of Mephibosheth but he also puts him on a pedestal, so when someone lies about him, David immediately believes that lie because he actually doesn't really know who Mephibosheth actually is.
But that is all I have to say for now! I probably missed some thoughts I would like to bring up. But my brain is empty at the moment!
