So I'm genuinely stoked for the new music we're getting this year from B-T. I'm especially curious about the single "Taiyou to Ikarus" since I'm aware of the legend of Icarus, however minimal my knowledge might be. So just to pass time, I decided to see the film The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976) since it's been on my watchlist for quite a while now. And this is what I came across...

This film was released when Atsushi was prolly around 10 yrs old so I highly doubt if he saw this film when it was just released. Still, given that he's a huge Bowie stan I wonder if he's seen this film and if this is how he first came across the story of Icarus. Also, I'm not denying the possibility that he prolly found out about the story somewhere else. Still, would an interesting coincidence of sorts.

I mostly went with my favourite buck-tick song that aren't dress and romance and just one more kiss cause everyone knows these lol I also tried to go for at least a song in every decade, but I have to admit that I'm not familiar with their post-2012 releases, so yeah...

BUCK-TICK - 月世界 (Gessekai) I first found this song on a rotation blog, so I thought it was appropriate to put here. It was different from what I was listening, at the time, but there was something about this song that kept haunting me and that was what made me get into buck-tick Gessekai was a single released in 1998

BUCK-TICK - 羽虫のように (Hamushi no you ni) This was the last time i immediately fell in love with a buck-tick song. I don't have much to say aside from I think it's still as good as the first time I listened to it ! Hamushi no you ni was found on RAZZLE DAZZLE, released in 2010

I had originally chosen Passion, for this, but I want to use that song in another rotation, so I went with muma, in the end, as i figured they both have the kind of energy i wanted to convey here :3 十三階は月光 (juusankai wa gekkou) was released in 2005

BONUS : 櫻井敦司 (Sakurai Atsushi) - Space Oddity (Live David Bowie cover) I wanted to add a song from his solo career, and tbh I was going to go for Sacrifice, but I then remembered this existed and I figured it would make for a good last song for this rotation. Space Oddity was only performed live, but can be found on the Explosion - Ai No Wakusei Live 2004 DVD released in, well, 2004

I’d like to take a moment today to share one of my absolute favorite movies of all-time ✨

(English: Liza the Fox-Fairy)

Directed by Károly Ujj Mészáros (the husband of Mónika Balsai, who plays Liza)

Premise: Liza is a home-care nurse who requests a day off on her 30th birthday for the purpose of seeking out a lover like the one she reads about in her favorite Japanese novel.

(I know I know it doesn’t sound that great yet but bear with me!)

Over the course of the movie she attempts several dates that end up going disastrously, as the jealous Tomy Tani (a dead Japanese musician that appears to Liza as a spirit - played by David Sakurai) sabotages any potential male suitors. He convinces Liza that she’s a mystical creature from Japanese legends called a fox-fairy, and is therefore a danger to any man who desires her.

Meanwhile, a detective who really loves Finnish music is assigned to investigate all the mysterious deaths occurring around Liza.

I don’t want to spoil any more than that, but the movie itself is cute, fun, and honestly pretty heartwarming by the end. The characters are all great, and Liza in particular is just so fucking precious.

When I first found this movie, I ended up watching it about 3 times in a row (the 2nd time was so my spouse could watch it with me), because it just made me feel so nice and happy. It’s now one of my comfort movies that I like to put on when I’m sad, because it always cheers me up ♥️

So if you want a movie that’s funny and light-hearted, with an overall optimistic look on love and finding your person, I cannot recommend this enough. I’m typically not a fan of romance, but that’s not even what I enjoy about the movie. It’s just all-around fantastic.

Hell no we are not letting this OFMD finale distract from that THIS LETTER.

Had a signature from Taika Waititi. I understand the sensitivity here this issue with Taika being Jewish(and that’s not my place as someone that’s Not Jewish or in those regions to condemn him on that perspective’s behalf) but this letter is directly bastardizing the situation.

Now, when there is a major production from a major figure in this platform that did this, is when we can make the most impact. Remember our values, even when those values involve a show that is strengthening the LGBTQ community.

Because this letter tore down the strength of the movement in support of Gaza. There are going to be so many people that saw this letter and take it completely uncritically, unchallenged.

Standing up for our values means sacrificing our interests, holding accountable the things we enjoy.

And also. I don’t want to see ANYONE. Being fucking antisemitic or racist towards Taika here. That is never appropriate and absolutely inexcusable behavior. You should he ashamed if you think that’s okay even after Taika’s actions.
