DP OC parade day 1: introduction
Tumblr media
✨Personality✨
Lesli is simply a sociopath, holding a short temper, she has been thought from a short age to slit a throat rather than speak up her feelings, however, like a carnivore plant she likes to "lure" people around her by either relating to their stories or just out of intimidation, she has a soft spot and is willing to kill for those struggling with mental health or having experienced being "used as weapons", locked up in asylums or having any kind of rivality with their siblings (She has a huge Cain complex with her brother).
✨Basic backstory ✨
"As there's in the world good people, chaotic people and bad people with valid reasons, there's also people who simply enjoy pain, in the end everyone dies~." Lesli Adeluran, Tears and blood coming soon chapter.
She's basically Amity Park's local psycho from the lower places of Amity park, far away from the suburbs, she was meant to be a hitman but a series of unfortunate events let this cannibal beast rise, she may look human but that doesn't make her more human...
(She's the daughter of a human hitman and an half human wendigo).
Likes; human meat (her goal is to some day taste an halfa's meat), extremely sweet food (her taste buds barely identify other tastes than human meat), to take care of animals (normal and ghost), pit fights
Dislikes; regular food like fast food and vegetables unless it's extremely condimented and (to hear the hunting voices of people she killed thanks to her high sense of hearing and seeing the dead due her wendigo nature)
Blorbo!

MIQOMARCH: Introduction "Oh, me? I'm no one. Don't worry about it. Why am on the roof? Don't worry about that either! I think you'll find life is a lot more enjoyable when you worry less. Aaaaanyway, do you think the people who live here leave their doors unlocked?"

And if I have a bit of fun doing a guardian zone/perfume match up. What then.
Forests of Silence is to me so clearly Undergrowth by Örok. She's sweet she's earthy she has that distinct smell of plant matter breaking down and with the rich cherry and damp earth she smells like the nectar of the lilies of life spilling into the soil.
Pairing Squid by Zoologist for The Lake of Tears. Salty, smoky, inky, and undeniably fishy. What else could there be for Soldeen and the crew.
City of the Rats had me stumped but I'm gonna go for post-Lief Yakisugi Wood by Flâner Fragrance. Because well you know the dry, burning wood. I've not smelled it but Moth by Zoologist also sounds like a contender for pre-Lief Hira.
The Shifting Sands got me well and truly stumped but I'm going with Bull's Blood by Imaginary Authors. Bloody and mineralic - there's no way those sands don't smell at least a little bloody.
Dread Mountain I'm going with Hexensalbe by Stora Skuggan. Woody and aromatic and packed with poisonous plants. (More importantly, I can't think up anything for the stronghold itself right now.)
For Maze of the Beast I did briefly consider Shoreline, also by Örok (warm sands, sea air, a hint of sweat) but that's not the maze or the river Tor. That's like the dreaming dunes or something. I'm gonna pair it with Secretions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange - as if the maze wouldn't smell like a mix of marine notes and blood and sweat and milk that's about to turn.
Valley of the Lost I will pair with Cape Heartache by Imaginary Authors. I considered pairing this one with dread mountain but the damp undergrowth? The morning fog? The sweetness that feels like it shouldnt be there but works anyway? That's the valley of the lost, babey

can we talk about the ending to shubble’s afterlife series?? please??
like yes, mechanically, she lost her tenth life. she jumped and died from fall damage. but that’s not how she ended the story.
shulk shubble (shulkble?) had just witnessed the death of the only other person properly remaining, the inverse of herself, shadow joey/shadow boy/shadow 2.0. the last thing she wanted to do was watch the sunset and have a picnic, the one thing she endlessly craved on her first life back when she was the shadow.
“everybody’s kind of.. long gone and dead. onto the next… life. after-afterlife?”
“…i don’t really know what comes next.”
and then she simply vanishes. she simply says this is goodbye, and then the camera is obscured by a stray leaf and she’s gone. it’s quiet, there’s just the sound of the wind as it goes dark.
she always loved watching the sun.

caught up on the new Ranma 1/2 which I wasn't going to watch but caved to the nostalgia and god. I missed my ridiculous kids. so happy to see that they've kept true to the characters and that Akane is the most badass teenager to ever live and Ranma is a little bitch

Fluke
CT-5121 was never meant to be an officer. He was barely even expected to graduate.
He always heard others’ whispered discussions behind his back. Other clones, trainers–it didn’t matter. They all said the same kind of thing:
“How’d he manage it?” “Gotta be a fluke.”
Maker, he’d heard that particular phrase more than he cared to count.
“Fluke,” he’d said suddenly at first-meal, drawing confused expressions from his squad. “What?” Wilde asked next to him.  “I think that’s what I want my name to be,” he shrugged, picking at the edge of the bandage secured across his nose.  “Why?” CT-3605 snorted, receiving a sharp elbow to the side from their squad’s 01.  “I’m not sure if your name should be picked entirely out of spite,” Shiner smiled at him. “But if that feels right to you, kih’vod, that’s what it’ll be.” “Thank the kriffin’ maker,” Gripp groaned. “I was getting tired of calling you ‘two-one’. Now we just need to find a name for ‘fivesy’ here.” He hooked an arm around 3605’s neck, grinding his knuckles into his head. Fluke chuckled as an exasperated grin stole over Shiner’s expression.
Graduation, medic training, a stint in the 212th, then command training. He’d done it all. Must’ve been a fluke.
With Wilde as his lieutenant and their new incoming Jedi, Fluke was now a captain of the new 763rd, though he was certain the formwork alone would be the end of him.
Their new general would be here soon. Fluke took a deep breath, letting it out in a slow hiss as he tried to push the nerves down.
Commander Cody had told him this jetii was a Healer and that his General Kenobi knew her well.
He checked the time at the top of the datapad. 1430. General Bakki was set to arrive shortly after late-meal. He pulled at the collar of his uniform–it had become somewhat itchy over the stretches of skin that had been tattooed on their first run ashore as shinies–as he noticed his leg start to bounce.
He frowned at the offending leg as though that would solve anything, eventually just setting aside his datapad to press the heels of his palms into his eyes. Get it together, a familiar voice hissed in the back of his mind.
He smelled the caf before he registered the door to his office sliding open.
“Maker, Cap, you look like shit,” Wilde smirked as he set a steaming cup down in front of him.
Fluke glared, but lifted the mug to his lips immediately, sipping the bitter liquid, doing his best–and apparently failing, if Wilde’s snickers were anything to go by–to disguise his distaste for it.
“When’s the last time you slept?” Wilde asked, scooping up Fluke’s datapad from the desk.
Fluke sighed, willing his mind to actually function. Wilde sputtered.
“The kriff is all this?” he grumbled as he scrolled through the seemingly endless formwork. “We haven’t even shipped out yet!”
“New kind of unit means everything’s gotta have a flimsitrail,” Fluke shrugged, taking a sip of his caf. “Under a damn microscope.”
Wilde scoffed, raising his mug in a mock toast. “To the experimental 763rd.”
Fluke smiled wearily, clinking his mug against Wilde’s as his comm beeped. “Go ahead.”
“Captain,” one of his troopers–the kid was so shiny, he wasn’t sure if he even had a name yet–said, sounding somewhat nervous. “Um, sir–”
Fluke suppressed a sigh. “What’s the matter, trooper?”
“Sir, uh, the new General is here, sir,” the shiny stammered.
Wilde nearly spat out his caf with a soft curse.
“Understood,” Fluke said, hoping he didn’t sound as flustered as he was beginning to feel. “Thank you, um…”
“Sig, sir,” the trooper supplied.
“Right. Thank you, Sig.”
The comm cut off and Fluke scrubbed a hand down his face. Kriff.

Kresta
Kresta took one look at the Pelta-class frigate from the viewport and was instantly nauseous. The crew aboard consisted of nearly 600 troopers. It had the capacity for just as many patients. She couldn’t do this.
She froze in her steps, vision blurring as she stared at the ground. Her companions kept walking.
“Of course, there is a command structure beneath you, so it’s not as if you’d be managing–”
“General,” the commander murmured, tapping the general’s shoulder.
They both turned back to face her.
“Kresta? Are you alright?”
She blinked, shaking her head gently, as though that would clear the maelstrom of thoughts flooding her brain. She tucked her shaking hands behind her. Just breathe, she heard the other man’s master whisper in the back of her mind.
“Yes, sorry, I was… lost in thought,” she replied easily, forcing her mouth to curve upwards.
“Lost in thought,” Obi-Wan repeated, eyes narrowing slightly. He stepped nearer to her, his voice lowering slightly. “Or lost in worry?”
She smiled softly, somewhat genuinely. “You know me too well, Obi-Wan.”
“It’s going to be alright,” he tried to reassure her. “Kresta, you are one of the strongest people I know. You’re an expert swordsman and an even better Healer.”
“If I might add, sir,” Cody hummed. “Captain Fluke was a medical officer for the 212th for some time. He’s one of the best.”
“You see, my dear?” Obi-Wan said, his hands resting on her shoulders. “You are going to be just fine.”
She nodded. “Thank you both,” she said, tucking a few errant strands of hair behind her ear. “Old habits die hard, I suppose.”
Obi-Wan smiled again. “I know all too well.”
They continued their walk towards the ship–her ship.
As they walked, the few troopers they encountered would stand rigidly still at attention until they had passed, returning to their tasks.
“Commander?” Kresta said, looking past Obi-Wan’s shoulders to see the man, following close behind.
“Yes, sir?” he responded.
“Is there a way to… I mean, is it possible to perhaps… ask the troopers in the– ah, my unit to not… uh–”
Thankfully, both Cody and Obi-Wan seemed to understand. “Sir, you are free to ask just about any of your troops whatever you’d like.”
Obi-Wan nearly scoffed. “What Cody isn’t saying is that their training is rather… rigid, and while they’ll do their utmost to follow any order you give them… well, as you said, ‘old habits die hard.’” He winked at Cody and she was sure he was rolling his eyes behind the dark visor of his helmet.

Fluke
Fluke stood rigid at attention as the Generals entered the hangar. Half of all troopers otherwise unassigned lined up next to him, the other half lined up next to Wilde across from him. Despite his brother’s helmet, he could practically see him mouthing ‘haalur’ at him. Get it together, the voice whispered again.
He turned his head, watching as his old general and commander stepped off the ramp. Then he froze. Just behind Kenobi and Cody was the most striking person he’d ever seen.
She was tall, standing about the same height as her companions, though he suspected that she’d end up a bit shorter without her heeled leather boots. He could just start to make out the hint of her curves from the green and brown fabrics that hung from her form with far fewer layers than he’d seen on most other Jedi generals. Everything about her drew his eye; the sleeve of tattoos peeking out of her pushed-up sleeves on her left arm–the glint of metal he caught from the split of her skirt, the freckles that dotted across her face like a star map–but her hair shone in the industrial light like a fiery crown with braids running back on either side of her head to hold the copper tresses back from her face in a style that almost reminded him of his own.
He forced his jaw shut and his face forward just as Kenobi and Cody finished their quiet conversation and finally looked ahead at the lines of troopers. He wished he wasn’t in his dress uniform, the collar itching again.
“Captain,” General Kenobi greeted him warmly, a gentle smile pulling at his lips. “It’s good to see you again.”
“It’s good to see you, too, sir,” he responded.
“Su cuy’gar, vod,” Commander Cody chuckled.
Fluke cracked a smirk. “Gar cuyir balyc, ori’vod. Not for lack of effort, according to Stat’s comms, Commander.”
“Stat is… exaggerating.”
“Captain,” Kenobi cut in. “This is a dear friend of mine and your new general.”
Fluke was pretty sure he wasn’t breathing anymore as she stepped forward, greeting him with a soft smile and a light bow.
“Hello, Captain,” she said. “I’m Kresta Bakki.”
Her voice was strong and steady, like rain against the window of the Kaminoan training rooms. Her accent was similar to Kenobi’s.
But what struck him now as she stood before him were her eyes. Bright and curious–if a little apprehensive–and the most vivid sea green he’d ever seen in his short life.
Snap out of it, di’kut, he thought.
“CT-5121, sir,” he said, body going even more rigid than it already was.
“Oh, you don’t have to–”
“At ease, men,” Kenobi ordered to the lines of troopers, his voice clear. There was one loud thump as the men adjusted their stance simultaneously.
General Bakki looked almost startled but seemed to fight to maintain her calm expression.
General Kenobi leaned towards her, telling her something Fluke couldn’t quite make out. He smiled and she nodded.
“I’m sure you all have better things to do than to stand here watching me,” she called, raising her voice to echo across the hangar. “Everyone but the officers should go about their business. Oh, um– dismissed.”
Kenobi nodded as she turned to him. She spoke softly with him until Fluke and Wilde were the only two left in the hangar.
“What’s your name, Captain?” she smiled.
He tried not to melt at the sight of her smile.
“Fluke, sir,” he said, suddenly feeling a hint of insecurity over his chosen name. “And this is Lieutenant Wilde, CT-8111.”
“Sir,” Wilde nodded at her.
“It is good to meet you both,” she said.
“Would you like a tour of the ship, General?” Fluke asked. It felt right to ask, even though it was protocol.
“That sounds like a good idea,” she answered with a soft smile that set his heart ablaze.

hii! honeslty just curious, I read/watched kuroshitsuji AGES ago and I don't think I've finished the manga anyway, does grell go by she/her?? I vageuly remember ppl headcanonning them as enby though iirc in canon he's a guy?
Your tags peaked my curiosity, I haven't seen any Kuro content in a hot minute, but I remember it being the absolute must watch in my peak anime watching years lol And I absolutely loved the manga's artstyle
in canon grell is a trans woman, yana toboso has said something like "grell is a man with a woman's heart" ages ago and sometimes around 2014/16 had tweeted something about wanting to be more careful with her representation of people like grell in the future, don't quote me on that thought because i only read that tweet once and only remember reading a shitty screenshot of a translation of that interview where she allegedly said that.
i can however show you this:
Tumblr media
it's from a bonus chapter (after chapter 108) about the popularity polls (it's a very convoluted non canon chapter) but it's one of the most blatant example of her being trans.
there's also the way she constantly refers to herself as a "young maiden" ect. idk how it goes exactly in the og but in french they translated it so grell always refers to herself with feminine terms while everyone else misgender her including the narrator. she very consistently reaffirm herself as a woman through every single ones of her appearances, like it's a thing she very much does, every single time she's on screen.
i haven't watched the anime in forever (cause it's kind of a disgrace and insult to the manga lol) but if i remember properly (which i mostly likely don't) they did omit/lowkey censor some of grell explicitly going "i wish i had been born a woman/could have been able to carry children" when she first properly introduce herself as a shinigami & the other half of jack the killer. (the anime also really did lean a lot more into the pervert queer caricature whereas in the manga she's given a bit more dignity, especially the further the story goes. though that might be my own impression and maybe it didn't change that much i just love her a whole lot).
also because i have to, please forget the anime (the first two seasons that is) and read the manga first and foremost because oh boy, what a disaster the anime is (nostlagia and atmosphere wise it's entertaining, i really love the op & ed, but it just, i just cant man it doesn't even compare to the manga at all). only watch book of circus -> book of murder -> campania movie -> the new private school arc that's coming soon (idk what they called it) after reading the manga.

one of my fav things abt banban is the wait between games after a new character is teased/introduced. we barely know anything about them other than a name a gimmick and a face so everyone gets to make shit up until we actually find out what they're like in an eventual game. everyone makes their own interpretations of these characters from their gender to design and its fucking awesome we need to keep doing it

bee's poems entry 1: "introduction to poetry"
thanks for all the submissions so far! i've already had 12 responses! i hope if you think of poems to share, or if you find a new poem, you'll submit them throughout the year.
i want to officially kick off this blog with my thoughts on one of the submissions: "introduction to poetry" by billy collins. the submitter said that i should read it first if i could, and although i did read one other poem before it, i think this is a good place to officially start this project.
I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide or press an ear against its hive. I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe his way out, or walk inside the poem’s room and feel the walls for a light switch. I want them to waterski across the surface of a poem waving at the author’s name on the shore. But all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means.
i really liked this one. i especially like the beginning imagery of the color slide because that is how a lot of poems feel to me when i read them, like they all have a light shining through that comes from the same place, but the color film over it is unique to each poem. you know what i mean?
i also agree that many people try to analyze poetry completely separately from the emotion of it, thinking that if they can name all the devices it uses that means they understand it. while dissecting a poem can help you to understand it, trying to do that without first just letting yourself experience and think about it is more like hacking it apart with a meat cleaver. i think this is why lots of people think they don't like poetry! i believe there's poetry out there for everyone, some people just haven't been introduced properly.
☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ⋆⋅☆
i'm excited to be doing this! i'm not sure how i want to format this blog, but i thought maybe i could do a short journal entry, then a poem and what i thought of it.
i'm not going to aim for a deep analysis of every poem, just maybe one or two thoughts. i also don't think i'll include the full text of each poem in every post, especially with longer submissions, but i'll definitely always link to them or put the text under a read more.
i wonder if i should do the poem first and then the journal entry under so people who don't care about the journal part don't have to scroll past it? i think i'll try that.
also, don't think you only have to submit more traditionally published poems. submit things from blogs you like, send asks with pictures from books you find, send in your own poems! i promise to be nice about them if you do.
thanks for reading! let me know what you think—about the poem, about the project, about a cool bug you saw today, whatever you want to discuss. i want this blog to be a way for me to appreciate simple or mundane joys in life. poems are just one way i'm doing that.
i want to practice loving the world.
thanks for reading!

Whumpmas in July 2024 day 1: Introduction
Tumblr media
Here’s (almost) what I look like. Cred to Fotor for the filter.
Hey, all!
I’m Laur. He/him. I’ve always loved sickfics, both reading them and creating my own. I started off writing for OCs and several different fandoms, but eventually I’ve settled into working within the MCU. I have have ~ 10 different ‘verses ranging canon to AU, and many are focused on different individual characters.
Believe it or not, this is my 8th WIJ (or maybe I pre-date the event? I can’t remember.) Anyway, I’ve been posting fics here since 2017.
At the time I created this account, I training as a professional athlete and dabbling in bodybuilding (hence the name of this blog—the numbers are a random add-on to make the account unique.) I would cross train and swim for an hour every afternoon, then set up the laptop and pour my heart and soul into stories to post on Tumblr. I finally found my writing niche, and I’ve made some best friends for life in the whump/sickfic/emeto community.
My big claim to fame is my completion of the 2018 NaNoWriMo (My total word count was just over 90,000.) I filled the prompt for all 30 days of Novemetober, and I completed the draft of a novel with only 28 days of work. The book has since been published and is available on Amazon. (DM me if you want more info or a link to purchase.)
I used to be able to turn out fics and prompt fills every day, but in 2019 I had some huge health challenges that have slowed me down considerably. The deets aren’t so important, but here are some highlights: the onset of a mental illness, major organ failure, 10+ surgeries with general anesthesia, and three brain injoruous incidents. Now I mostly get around in a power wheelchair. Big change from a few years back.
These days, I have a lot of trouble concentrating, and I have a busy schedule, so my fic and art posts are now few and far between. I still love challenge events like WIJ. I know I won’t be able to answer the question/prompt for every day, but I do have ideas that I’m excited to share.
