It took Royal an hour and a half to find all 20 eggs hidden outside.

Curtis told me the reason Oregon smells Like That in spring is actually because of these trees -- the cottonwoods. I can't believe I never knew that! On a beautifully mild, sunny spring day, the air fills with a honeysuckle smell, and it's heaven.

I’m proud to finally show off this awesome sculpt I helped design at work.

We wanted a toy that could be a great grinder but would also be pretty enough to use as a lawn ornament.

And thus the idea for the snail was born!

I poured this one custom for me but it’s one of our most color customizable toys thus far. This one has a pink gold/pearl shimmer swirl inside translucent black on the shell with a sky blue/pearl shimmer fade on the body and a grey base with a suction cup for more fun snail shenanigans.

I thought the snail would look really pretty sitting amongst the purple dead nettle cultivar in full bloom. I’m going to take another photoshoot after the bulgeweed (lol) blooms.

Bundled up in the absolute stillness that is any given park in winter I always think, "Actually, I like all seasons equally. I love the quiet and the way there's actually so much color in all this white. There's something to love in all of the seasons."

And then spring comes. And I'm like, "Aaaaaaaah... actually... yeah this is the one."

Honestly i understand why ppl turn to herbalism/natural remedies. Especially if you're chronically ill. Healthcare sucks. It is so difficult and expensive and inaccessible. I don't think you should replace medical care with oils, but I cant help but feel like that people who do that sort of stuff have to have been failed by healthcare in some way. You shouldn't do it, i just understand why

Dead Nettle Tea Season:

Purple Dead Nettle (Lamium purpureum) is a weedy mint native to Eurasia but thoroughly distributed throughout the eastern US. This plant grows in dense colonies typically in lawns and dry waste spaces in disturbed areas. The name dead nettle comes from the purple nettle-like leaves and notable lack of sting (hence the dead). This plant is usually most noticeable when flowering around late March to April

The above ground portion of the plant is pretty much entirely edible. I'll only recommend using the leaves (and flowers) for this tea. Of course I really need to stress that these plants grow in waste areas, it is really common for them to be in contaminated sites, also don't pick from lawns that have dogs, use pesticides, or roadsides. I gathered mine from an urban food forest...even then I was kind of iffy about them only taking from under an almond tree.

Anyway I gathered around 8 plants, you can have them fresh but it's not as good in my opinion. I let dry for about 4 days, if you're impatient you can always use the oven at a very low setting.

You're going to want to brew separated dry leaves in boiling water for 5-10 minutes. The leaves will smell very earthy however the flavor is different and very similar to nettle. It's a very pleasant tea overall.

There are a whole bunch of beneficial claims around consuming dead nettle however rather then mindlessly parrot some word-of-mouth phrases I've heard over the years I'll tell you to try this tea because it's a fun wild edible!

u have probably eaten a bug on purpose, and I'm not talking on dare or like a prepared bug or whatever (those are a thing apparently??) but just saw a bug and plopped it in ur mouth chewed it and enjoyed it. This is funny because now I'm thinking about the invasion of cockroaches at an old school of mine where one kid just started eating them to get rid of the cockroaches
