A Long Time Coming
Gally X Original character female (OC IS THE POV)
TW: Assault, fight, yelling, first-time sex
Shit, I'm doing smut. Hate me later, read it now

------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------
The backstory:
You and Gally had a relationship that many would call, a love hate relationship. You could barely say you were friends, you had a tolerance for each other, yeah, that's what it was, a tolerance.
Now being the only girl in the glade however, it kind of made you like the fact that Gally wasn't begging for you to do him, it was actually somewhat nice, having someone that hated you.
You, Paisley the rebellious Paisley hated? Never. The fact that the boys were head over heels for you was, definitely something.
------------------------------------------------
"Hey Paisley, are you actually going to build or what?"
"Oh darling, go buy a bloody brain. You, shank, should already know that I rather climbing all the things that we, I mean you, dearest Gally builds."
"Oh, fuck you Paisley."
"I mean, if you insist" you look at Gally, grinning, but you knew if you went at it much longer you would step the line.
"I'd be in the right mind to call a bloody meeting of my fellow keepers and have you thrown in the slammer. Tread lightly, shuckface."
Now, as you'd learn soon, Gally would keep his word.
"Well, Gally's point still stands. Paisley doesn't chip in, she does no work."
"Newt, c'mon. I am not meant to be a builder, I want to do something where I can get rid of my energy, roam free or something."
Newt pulled Minho to the side, it was definitely something, why the shuck would Newt involve Minho, he was a runner, not a builder or a keeper of anything even closely related, wait, he was a runner, he got rid of energy, and got to roam free. Shit, Newt didn't think, shuck did he?
Minho looked at you, then back at Newt. They continued to talk, after they talked, they nodded in agreement.
"Hey Alby, C'mere for a second."
"Yeah, Newt, Minho, what's up?"
They whispered again, this time, it was Alby who nodded.
"Everybody quiet down, we have come to a conclusion."
Each keeper in the room took to their seats without a word, waiting eagerly to see what you were in for.
"Gally, I would like you to state what has been happening, for everyone to understand the situation."
"Ok, as everyone knows, Paisley, is not a very hard worker, and of all the jobs in the glade, she has failed to do any of them. With me, she is a bit more tame, because she is seriously just climbing around, she has seriously only built one thing. A shucking climbing frame."
A few people laughed at Gally's proclamation, a few look at you in annoyance.
"Okay, okay. Newt and myself have come to an agreement with one of the other keepers. Paisley has stated that she needed to get rid of her energy and roam free. Make you think of a job anyone?"
Frypan was first to speak "Runner?"
"Right on mate, Minho has agreed to this."
Minho nodded, he always liked a challenge, but, the two most sarcastic and snarky people in the glade, being cooped up with each other for 6-8 hours at a time, that, could get interesting.
Gally rolled his eyes, "Come on, give her the title of being a runner and then she can stay in the shucking maze for as long as she wants, you won't be able to get her out of there."
"Now now Gally the superhero, keep on rolling your eyes, who knows, maybe one day you will find the brain I told you to buy. Anyways Gally, you are seriously concerned or something."
"Oh you stupid klunk, I am just saying that you will probably stay in there, hopefully getting trapped. Then we won't have to deal with your shenanigans anymore, don't you get it, you, don't, belong. You aren't normal" he said the last two sentences with spite.
"Gally, Gally, Gally. How hard it must be for you, using all of your vocabulary in one statement. Also, define normal."
"Paisley, how about we go outside." a voice said, it was manipulated, like Gally's but also like Newt's, assuming it was Newt's you just walked outside.
Only after you got a few meters outside of council hall did you turn around. There he was, Gally, looking fuming.
"You better watch your self, you are getting so fucking close to being dead meat. I promise you, you don't want to be a runner."
"Well I don't give a fuck"
Gally, the giant he was, towered over you furious.
"You aren't my keeper anymore, that is Minho's job now, you are now a fucking nobody to me in this glade, you are just, another, person"
Gally, not being able to hold his temper, swung at you, aiming for your gut. Luckily you ducked and elbowed his crotch, causing him to fold like a deck chair. Flinging a fist to his back he collapsed completely to the ground.
Gally flung his arm out and snatched your wrist, pulling you into him.
"I tolerated you, haven't you noticed that I was nicest to you. You don't understand, now you have stepped the line."
Gally pulled himself up, and still held your wrist.
He began to walk toward the slammer, pulling you along with him.
He grabbed your other wrist and put it into his other hand, he had both of your arms in the grip of one hand.
"Gally, stop it."
You wriggled your wrists, attempting to remove them from his grip, only to being given an even tighter grip and to be dragged even harder.
You were almost at the slammer when Gally spoke,
"You know, Paisley, there is a reason I have always picked on you, been really stubborn with you."
"Why is that, Gally, because I am fun to annoy, because I bite back?"
"Ughh, shuck it. It's because I fucking like you, you dumb shank, how hadn't you noticed. It's ruined anyways, no doubt about that."
Gally yanked the door to the slammer open.
It wasn't your first time being in the slammer, you had seen in when you were on the tour.
It smelled musty and sweaty. The walls were cracked and scratched at, they had a bit of graffiti on them too, typical boys. The ground, it was just dirt. Sitting in the middle of the slammer, covered in dirt, was the chair, the one that Nick, poor, poor Nick told you had 1 leg shorter to cause discomfort.
"Gally, what are we doing here. I don't under-" Your words were stopped by Gally pushing you in, this wasn't a gentle push, it was enough to send you into the opposite wall, even though the slammer wasn't that big.
The door slammed behind you, making you shudder.
"Gally, what the fuck has gotten into you."
"Paisley, I need you to listen to me, and don't interrupt me until I am done"
"Well it's not like I have a choice, is it?"
"Nope"
"Well go on then, I don't have all night"
"I have always told myself that, you were the only girl, that must have hardships, she probably has had enough with boys and their desires, so I should treat her how I treat my men, never make any exceptions, and crack down just as hard for anything she does. And for the most part, that is what happened. But Paisley, I like you, I like how you are sarcastic, I love that you can stand up for yourself. And I am sorry for trying to punch you earlier, I needed to get you here, so you would have to listen."
"Gally, slow down, let me out."
He complied, prepared for you to be angry.
The door creaked open and he got punched in the face with the smell of sweat and mildew.
You walked out, confidence filling your body, you had the upper hand, the ball was in your court.
"Gally, I can't believe you. I fucking can't believe it."
He was confused, he expected you to hit him already.
I mean, you did hit him, but, like, with a hug.
You slammed your body into his, pushing him backwards into the door, grasping your arms around him, savoring the warmth of his body, turning your head into his chest, you listened to his heart, it beat quite fast.
Gally smelled like clean, like fresh, he had the smell of soap, but a hint of lemongrass and dill.
-------------------------------------
Gally POV:
I thought she would have hit me, I made an outrageous statement, that I was in love with her, yet she took it so easily.
She just leapt at me, as a flash of black and blue. It all went so fast, I tried to stand firm, knowing that we were probably about to get in a fistfight.
I stood frozen for what felt like forever, and then she was on me, small little Paisley, the little fighter, but she wasn't fighting, she was embracing.
I don't know what got into me, I was paralyzed. She gripped her arms around my midriff and clawed at my back, pushing herself into me, refusing to let go.
My heart was pounding, I still don't know what got into me, the effect she was having was unrecognizable to any other emotion that I had.
-------------------------------------
He wasn't present in that moment, he was like a statue. That was until, you felt him begin to melt, his muscles relaxing and his bending over, leaning into you.
His arms drifted slowly around you, like they were light as a feather, he took care not to put too much pressure on your body.
You released your arms from his back, moving them up to his face, pulling his face in toward yours, closing the gap between you even more.
Your lips pressed together, slowly moving, creating a gentle suction, Gally grazed your lips with his teeth, making your lips tingle.
Gally moved his up and down your hips, pushing on them, all the while pulling you in.
Before you knew it, his hands slipped under your shirt and tried pulling it off, man, this boy has got some nerve, but you allowed him, momentarily stopping kissing.
Then he pulled off his shirt, showing his smooth, layered, rippling muscles, and his tanned skin, warm and inviting.
He pulled you behind the slammer, so nobody could see the two of you, making love after you just got into a fight.
Gently tracing up your arm, over your collar bone, up your neck and chin, he spoke soft words,
"Are you sure you are fine with this Pai?"
"Yes, yes, show me how much you have always wanted me." you spoke breathy, flustered and alarmed. He wanted you, shit, that is cool.
As soon as you had finished speaking, he grabbed both your hands in one of his, in a simple sweep, then he had them up and slammed them against the wall of the slammer.
He pushed his head into your neck and sucked, leaving marks, leaving hickeys.
Your breathing and your heartrate sped up and you couldn't stop yourself from making a small noise, a moan.
Gally let go of your hands and worked at removing your jeans, undoing the button, and undoing the zipper, before he finally pulled them off.
"Seriously Pai? Pink underwear, for the way you act, I would have thought it would be black hole colored."
You winced, embarrassed, but Gally took this as a chance to dominate you even more, he yanked your underwear down, dropping himself with it.
Peppering your abdomen with kisses was annoying, why can't he just get to the good stuff.
Then he began to finger you, effortlessly finding the right bundles of nerves on your skin, leaving you a trembling mess, shuddering and shaking.
You wrapped your fingers through his hair tugging at it. "Gally, we really shouldn't be doing this. It's too much."
"Pai, calm down, you don't need to get so concerned."
"Gally. Gally listen to me."
He stopped everything, and stepped back and looked down on you.
"What Pai, what is wrong, the fact that for once I am actually being nice for once?"
"No Gally, it just feels wrong doing, this. Especially when less than an hour ago we just fought each other. Maybe we can try this another day, please Gally, just let's take a break for a bit."
"Ok Pai, sorry I made you feel like that. But Pai, just remember I love you."
Gally stepped towards you.
"If you want to stop Paisley, I am fine with that, I only want to do what you are comfortable"
He cupped his hands around your cheeks and used his thumbs to massage up and down your cheek bones. He slid his hands around your head and dropped them behind your shoulders, pulling you into a gentle hug.
"I love you Pai, I love you Pai, you are so beautiful." he whispered into your ear.
"We can try again whenever you want. If that's okay with you."
"I love you Gally, thank you."
------------------------------------------------
Ok, it is finally done, this took way too long. Hope you enjoyed!

Some thoughts on the maze runner book series with slight spoilers probably
The maze runner book series and the movies are both interesting, but the best things about them don’t align at all, so people generally hate either books or movies, and sometimes both  I like the books more because of the things some people hate them for (though the second book was really testing my patience, especially in the middle)  and its so easy to hate some of the decisions Thomas makes, that it becomes this distinct feature to like about him as a protagonist since books follow his thoughts almost like his pov it turns this story into a story with unreliable narrator (kinda? at least it can possibly be seen like this?)  his thoughts contradict his actions quite often, and despite being convinced he’s “the smart guy” he clearly does the first thing that comes to his mind, and sometimes it even works surprisingly well i’d say he clearly has the spirit of a scientist, always ready to question something and to run and test his theories(mostly on himself, scaring everyone around) , but Theresa is the one with a mind of a scientist  And the funny thing is that they’re not even scientists - when they’re teenagers who lived in isolation in a postapocalyptic world in a really questionable environment from a very young age just to be a part of a big experiment, but from their perspective it’s more than just an experiment - it’s their whole known life  The books describe an experiment, and every part of the plot adds to this one idea of “the chosen one = the test subject”, and the movies have different perspective on the whole major thing that started this plot in the first place And it’s not a bad thing, on their own these movies can be quite entertaining, some of the point from the books are actually interesting to see in this sort of adaptation (though some of these details don’t work together and break this version’s logic, it can be overlooked, adaptations can be hard to make), but it’s a different story which looks like a story from the books only on the outside Books have completely different vibe and allow readers to be stuck in this situation with the protagonist, to suffer from the lack of important information just like the heroes with small bits of outside information to make it more interesting, and it helps building this sense of something incomprehensible, of knowing something is going wrong but nothing able to understand why, of being watched and controlled by someone, just like an experiment subject - and it’s unsettling,  it’s scary, it’s a psychological and physical torture  - and that defines these books for me But this format hurts the way characters are described - and it’s even addressed a few times how little the protagonist knows about a lot of people surrounding him - and for some readers this results in a lack of connection with the characters - because it takes some thinking and imagination really to get how weird and illogical some Thomas’s decisions look to anyone but him, and a lot of attention to actually get the differences in others’ personalities and their reasoning of their action -but it’s there at least at some degree it’s kinda like “show, don’t tell” but the light are all out - so maybe it was better to tell And, personally, i like it, it’s free “open to interpretation” thing  Also characters do have different way they act and react to different situations and a whole lot of traumatic evets thrown at them, and they change with the story - so they have different endings of their personal stories - and some interactions are painfully beautiful  (or beautifully panful in this case)  And it’s generally easier to explain some of the more stupid decisions in books, because all the events happen during a really short amount of time Some may complain about weird pacing - but it does convey the perception different of time in different situations  And the repetitions of the same ideas, especially in the first book, kinda help  convey how people subconsciously return to some thoughts if something about them seems off - and it also can be explained by some of the experiment’s conditions and the whole amnesia thing  Anyway - the first book is definitely worth reading - and it has all the good things + it feels really comfy for some reason and then hits with a bit of unreality - and that’s an interesting experience  And i just really wanted to share some thoughts on the series

ashley and laura both being in that episode is fantastic for iconic bestie reasons but also god the fucking. poetry of. both of them having embodied and voiced central characters in the games and now playing people who are witnesses to what causes the characters’ most central motivations? like ashley as anna watching marlene carry away her daughter who she knows was still part of her when she was bitten and ellie carries the weight of that for the rest of her life because of everything it means for the possibility of a cure. and laura as a nurse who watches the murder of this (for now) nameless doctor whose needless death will be something that haunts abby for the rest of her life. god . cross media storytelling is so ripe with phenomenal possibility for exactly this reason i’m Losing It

PirateAU! Miguel x Mermaid! Reader
Thanks to @sarapaprikas-blog for the idea ❤️✨. Been loving to experience with different AU'S lately ✨. Hope you like!
Tumblr media
Warnings: Mild angst and historical figure mentions, implied mysticism ~
Prologue ✨
Pt. 2
As far as history was told, the sea had been the biggest grave in the world. Countless men, nations and civilizations perished under the might of the ever infinite sea. Not many dared to venture, after all, the stories of countless ships sunk under behemoth waves reached through all dry land known.
But that didn't stop the greatest empires to expand and colonize newly discovered lands thanks to years of observation. Many thought of the sea a living being, a being that could be tamed or at least controlled enough to small civilizations to be born in lands people only dreamed of.
However, as the sea earned it's title of a living creature, the mysticism around it grew. Many believed the sea was a she, and bringing a woman on board only made her jealous. A common belief among outcasts and pirates. Something that was debunked as the golden age of piracy advanced.
But even so, the word spread around was that the sea favored female pirates better than men. Lagertha, Mary Read, Anne Bonnie, Zheng Shi, Grace O'Malley, to name a few of the most iconic pirates that against all, conquered, navigated, commanded and plundered at their contempt.
Many believed that they had done a pact with the devil himself, but others strongly believed that there were creatures below that left no trace once the women settled for a target. Mermaids.
Creatures often described as the beauty of death itself embodied. Beautiful women luring men to their inevitable deaths. Something, that some men longed for, and feared by others. The rumor was that if you caught a mermaid alive, the creature was bound to grant you a wish.
But for Miguel, they were nothing but myths and lies. A once young and naive self had ventured in the sea to find one, so he could cure his daughter once the land medics had abandoned all hope. And so he did, once his little girl had closed her twinkling innocent eyes, full of dreams, forever.
He was a changed man after that. He didn't allow his men to talk about such nonsensical things in his ship, Reina Gabriela, and poor of the man that was caught red handed. Reason had gotten him where he was, a feared outlaw among the Spaniards and English folk alike. Not by his overall intimidating looks, but the ruthless and cunning of his attacks.
The Red Eyed Demon, they called him.
------
Miguel had settled the route towards an island that promised a proper restock of his resources. He would let his men unwind, he'd probably spend the night away with a well prepared courtesan. The type of woman that knew how to entertain him beyond the physical ways, once they were on land.
By sunset, he would be landing. The island itself wasn't a problem, the inhabitants of it were. At least for him, full of highly superstitious people, that were always showering him in foul smelling concoctions, lung itching fumes and heavy charms of protection to "cleanse the spirit of anything that could drag you and your ship down".
Isla del Sol, or Sunny Island as many called it, was like a secret hideway-paradise for Pirates that stopped by to rest. Opposite from what the Spaniards and English believed, the Island was run under the command of a council of five.
A retired English commander that did better as a pirate than a law enforcer named Edward, A Spaniard pirate well versed in the arts of administration named Xavier, A jamaican man which eloquence only rivaled the Queen's erudites themselves named Toussaint, An asian woman trained in the arts of killing and weaponry named Sheng Hyun, and a white haired chaman whose wisdom was often seeked by the rest.
So far the island had worked and thrived under their command. They had even asked Miguel to join them, because of his strategic and cunning mind. But of course, he refused. A man like him wasn't easily bound to bureaucratics, even though, ironically he had strict rules in his ship.
His men were loyal, after all, Miguel took proper care of his crew. Well fed, healthy, well armed, and now, well rested. Reina Gabriela approached the docks and soon the men worked. Some put the extended sails away, others put the weaponry in their place, others cleaned and so on. Everyone had a role aboard, and Miguel made sure for them to accomplish it.
He threw a small pouch of gold to a nearby man to watch over his ship as he was out. The island felt like another city, but difference was, that inside land there were no guards, no laws that didn't benefit them. And if anyone caused a ruckus, Sheng Hyun was sent to deal with it, personally.
His men scattered around, except for the quarter master, the cook, weaponry master, Navy Engineer and doctor. They discussed briefly the upgrades for the ship, new dishes to the menu, and new places to get weapons, medicines and sturdier woods from. He dismissed them once everyone had their list, then he was alone.
His feet took him nearby the merchants as they exposed their goods to everyone passing by. Guards uniforms, royal weapons and wax seals perfect for an unsuspecting ruse, medicines, a new type of powder that was a bit more waterproof, Chinese explosives, sedating darts, portraits of naked royal women, some gemstones, and of course, luck charms and talismans.
He scoffed as his eyes rolled at the various trinkets. He had to admit that whoever came with these ideas had found a gold mine that relied in people's blind faith, probably would shake their hand if he ever knew who it was. One trinket stood out from the rest.
It was an iridescent pearl, a quarter size of his palm, along some black and pearly scales protuding ontop. There was no chain around it to be worn, the merchant noticed him staring at the trinket and smiled.
"Good if y'wanna catch a mermaid. They love shiny things."
Miguel looked at him with an eyebrow quirked and a skeptical look.
"You seem confident enough to sell these... crafts."
"Ah, another nonbeliever. Tis'fine mate. I've dealt with so many like you before. Mostly of the non believing part roots from something denied to you in the past. Am'i'rite?"
Miguel's jaw clenched softly at the boldness of the man. He looked like the typical merchant with shady business on the side.
"Leave this man alone, Joseph." The chaman of the council spoke behind Miguel as she took the pearl in her old, wrinkled hands.
"Come" He motioned Miguel to follow. Despite being a highly spiritual woman, the council's chaman did not pressure him into believing, but rather spoke to him sometimes in riddles. Riddles that he grew tired of eventually. He followed.
"A surprise to find you watching these sort of trinkets, Miguel."
"Hard to not when they get stranger and colorful each time I come here."
The elder lady hooked her arm on his as she supported on Miguel, that secured her as he walked next to her.
"I'd be grateful if you wouldn't speak about anything mystic tonight."
"Wasn't my intention, boy. But I must say, you've got quite the eye for these things. It's a real pearl, if you wish to sell it."
Miguel kept walking, being led by the chaman.
"Or I could gift it to a mermaid" Miguel chuckled and the lady looked at him with curious eyes.
"Well, to do such thing, you'd have to find one first."
"I won't, cause they're not real."
The chaman smiled smugly at him.
"What would you do if your homeland got infested with rotting bodies, blood and so many other unpleasant things continuously?"
"I'd look for a new home." he humored, but the lady only nodded in approval.
"And what kind of home you'd look for?"
"One that wasn't near the cities or civilization. Probably a secret manantial or even a virgin island"
The lady smiled
"Congratulations, Miguel. You now have the first lead into finding a mermaid."
"You can't expect me to believe such things."
"No lo espero, pero sé que tu curiosidad por dichas criaturas ha aumentado. ¿Qué es lo deseas tener?" (I don't, but I know for sure that your curiosity for such creatures have peaked your interest. What is it you long for?)
Miguel looked down at the lady, wistfully and she rubbed his arm comfortingly. Like a grandma would.
"My dear. Mystical creatures can only do so much, Miguel. Sadly, bringing back the dead isn't something they can do."
"No sabes de lo que hablas. No me conoces" (You don't know what you are talking about. You don't know me)
He seethed the last words as his grip abandoned the lady. His body tensed when the chaman reached out again to take his large hand.
"Loss is part of our lives, Miguel" Her wrinkled hands put the pearl in his hand, hers covered his warmly, pushing the trinket further in his hands, "And we all move on eventually. Life is full of wonders, and who knows, maybe what you find ahead in your path is exactly what you need"
He nearly growled as another riddle was added to the list.
"Te dije que te dejaras de-" (Thought I told you to quit the-)
His mouth gaped slightly, the lady was gone. He was left alone with the pearl in his hand, "Acertijos..." (Riddles...) he sighed and stared at the pearl, to then tuck it back on his pocket.
What was he longed for?
