How do you think Emilia and the others would react to the concept of dreaming in No Rest for the Wicked?

“If I’m honest— sleeping isn’t even that bad,” Subaru starts, rubbing his eyes. He woke up an hour ago, but he still feels pretty sleepy— and how could he not, when Otto decided that the first thing he needed to do in the morning was discuss taxes with him? “You get to dream every night, which is pretty cool if you ask me.”

Subaru lets himself sink deeper into Emilia’s office couch. He loves it when she lets him watch her work.

He doesn’t usually like talking about sleeping much, not after all the trouble it already gave him— but today he dreamed he had momentarily traveled back in time to when he was eight years old, and was able to hug his parents one more time. Waking up hadn’t left him fatigued, on the contrary, it left him much better rested than usual. At least until Otto decided to be a pest, of course.

“Dreams?” Emilia raises her gaze from the papers in her desk and tilts her head to the side. “What are dreams?”

“Dreams are, uh…” He blinks. How could one describe dreaming? “It’s like traveling to another world—” no, that doesn't sound right, “—except the world doesn’t really exist ‘cus it’s merely a product of your imagination.” He crosses his arms. Did that even make sense? “Do you not do something like that when you are unconscious?”

People from Lugunica can still faint from blood-loss or other wounds. They surely had to dream then, right?

“You travel to another world when you sleep?”

Ok, maybe that was too much. Subaru blushes at the wonder marrying her voice. “Well, not literally. They are just a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep.”

“Natsuki-san, are you implying that when you sleep you… hallucinate?” The reason for his current nightmares —Otto�� opens the door of Emilia’s office with a sack of papers in his hands and turns to stare at him.

Subaru pauses and rubs his chin, deep in thought. Can dreams be considered hallucinations?

“Hallucinations?” Emilia repeats, voice distant.

Otto sighs. “Indeed, when people are in agony, they sometimes see things that aren't there."

Subaru starts laughing, then stops when he realizes what Otto actually meant. “Wait— what?” Oh cmon, this can’t happen again.  “I already said I'm not in pain when I sleep.”

“You say many things,” Otto glares. “But Lady Beatrice said you often squirm or wake up crying.”

Emilia gasps.

“You know that?!” Subaru stands up, then raises his hand to hold his head at the whiplash from changing positions so quickly. His own words finally sink in as his eyes widen. “I mean— I absolutely do not do that.”

Otto squints at him. He hadn’t missed his slight headache. “You should have told the healer about the hallucinations when he visited last week, Natuki-san.”

“They aren’t hallucinations.” Subaru blinks.

“Your description sure matched them. What is the difference between hallucinations and dreams, then?”

Emilia interrupts. “Are dreams another symptom of Subaru’s Partial Sleeping Beauty, then? Should we make sure he doesn’t dream?”

Otto shakes his head. “The only way to make him stop dreaming would be to make him stop sleeping, and the doctor said we shouldn't.”

“But that’s…”

“Time out!” Subaru raises his arms, crosses them and forms a stop sign. “The squirming is completely unrelated to the dreaming. I like dreaming, It’s relaxing.” Unless he is having a nightmare, he knows better than to address that topic.

Emilia’s purple eyes fill with tears. “Is your condition so bad that you prefer spending so many hours in a fake world rather than real life?”

What the fuck.

“No, absolutely not! I love real life is just—” Subaru groans.

He should have learnt to shut up by now.

(Some hours later:

“I wonder if Heinkel-san’s wife dreams,” Emilia says during dinner, after calming down. “If she has to sleep for so many years, it would be nice if she were to hallucinate that she is in a world in which her family is safe and sound.”)

Fala meus DEVs lindos (2 pessoas que seguem a página) durante minha jornada de Front-End eu me encanei bastante com o querido JavaScript em meus projetos, seja chat-bot, to do list ou qualquer mínima aplicação.

Atualmente eu tenho o objetivo de migrar para o TypeScript, PORÉM, não é tão simples refinar para o TS sem aprender o JS primeiro na minha opinião, sendo assim eu me enfiei em alguns cursos e quero gravar um FaaF Archive lá no canal desvendando um pouco das experiências que eu tive com o JavaScript que vou relatar um pouco aqui no BLOG.

Vamos começar falando do porque eu acho que tem tanta gente que prefere o PYTHON a mexer no JavaScript, isso porque o PYTHON É UMA MÃE CARINHOSA perto da paulada que você vai encontrar aqui. Estamos falando de uma linguagem de programação que vai somar um Number com uma String! E tirando essas esquisitices de lógica de comparação, eu não encontrei dificuldade alguma com Variáveis, Elementos, condicionais e Fluxo de execução. Sem dúvida se você já possui uma lógica de programação na cabeça, vai ser uma questão de adaptação para você aprender a mexer no básico do JavaScript.

Uma das experiências mais legais que eu aprendi ao começar a programar em JavaScript foi a parte de Debbuger do VSCode, ele serve para indicar para você basicamente "Em que ponto paramos" assim que ele atingir uma linha de código que você indicou, fazendo ele parar ali e procurar entender o que tá rolando. Vou mostrar um exemplo:

Você está com um código em Loop dentro de um While e precisa saber se um item específico está dentro de uma lista, assim o código vai ficar em Loop até encontrar o que você quer. Primeiro passo é criar um "contador" e considerar que ele é menor que o número de itens na sua lista para ele verificar um por um.

Pega seu valor e soma 1 nele mesmo

Nesse exemplo de código abaixo ele vai verificar se há um destino em um Array de destinos:

Esses são os BreakPoints:

Assim, quando for Debbugar, o código vai parar nesses pontos

Assim você consegue verificar exatamente o que está acontecendo com o isso código, ou é claro, você pode ser RAIZ e meter uma série de console.log() e ver o que está acontecendo.

Meu último tópico sobre o JavaScript Básico o que eu tenho a comentar é que eu prefiro muito mais a estrutura do While do que do FOR, apesar de serem semelhantes existe uma mudança clara na estrutura do código.

Enquanto no While você insere a condição dentro do parênteses, no FOR você precisa colocar o valor da variável, sua condição e o que deve ser executado, tudo logo de cara e sem choro.

so like, do you know how people headcanon that logan glitches out sometimes? But everytime I see it, it’s mostly, like, TV static. So, I present to you, Logan as glitches I got when I was developing a videogame ✨ahjhakjg

Pic 1) It’s a graphical glitch that I actually didn’t get in my game, but it’s usual for older 3D games. Basically the polygons of the model get stuck somewhere because miscalculations on rendering, so in simpler words, parts of him are broken. Imo, because of the technical explation, and also because it looks super angst, I think this would be when he feels lonely, depressed and sad. 

2) This is a bit harder to explain, but the technical explanation it’s that his UV map is not aligned with the textures. Basically, imagine if you want to make a cube out of cardboard. You draw the six sides, so you can fold them and make a cube. The unfolded version is what we call the UV map. So, to put color on a model, you need to paint this unfolded map. But if you change how this unfolded map is placed, but not change the placement of the colors, you get this graphical result of all the colors being on the wrong place in the 3D model. Eh, bad explanation goes brr LOL. I think this for Logan means when he is confused or lost. He must be really frustated when he doesn’t understand something or can’t figure something out, because is Logic, he is Smart, he should resolve all problems, so yeah.

3) The third one is the classic, the T-pose. A lot of people know it’s the default position for a 3D model. But here is the thing: for most games, you have something called “states”, which basically says: now this character is running, now this character is standing, etc. Sometimes (a lot of times for me because i was writing states machines with boolean conditionals but ok), your character gets in a position where it doesn’t know which state it is in, so it doesn’t know which animation it should do, so it just goes to default, the T-pose.  And it’s upside down because I got the funniest glitch when I was debbuging and messed up the quartenion rotations. Anywayyy, I think this one is just generally Really Complicated Emotions that Logan doesn’t know how to react to. Imagined if you flirt with him and Logan just. T-poses. Because he doesn’t know how to react. God I am so dumb
