Tokimeki Tonight Review
Tumblr media
shoujo is unfrotunately looked down upon and under apprciated by many anime fans and i simply wont sick back and abide by it. i mean this also generally applies to old anime which this is so as a true enjoyer of life who finds enjoyment from all generes across a wide varity of time periods i did my sacred duty and watched this awesome show
a romcom that is definately more comedy than romance but its got everything you could want this shit is peak ranzes parents espically are really funny but ranze is also great. i had no idea this was about like vampires and demons and stuff because i found out about this show from the awesome opening and somehow didnt notice any of the vampire references in it even though its literally immediately obvious from the very beinning of the show. honestly not a lot to say it could go down the list of episodes and characters and be like yeah this one is funny yeah this one is cute yeah shes funny and it would just be that over and over again so at the end of the day ill just say you should really watch this even if youre some kind of weirdo who thinks youre too good to watch a shoujo or a show from the 80s or a shoujo from the 80s

“horror movies of the 1980s exist at the glorious watershed when special visual effects finally catch up with the gory imaginings of horror fans and movie makers. technical advances in special effects (animatronics, liquid and foam latex) meant the human frame could be distorted to grotesque new dimensions on screen. 1980s horror movies delivered the full colour close-up, look-no-strings-attached, special effect in a way that previous practitioners of the art could only dream about. everything lurking in the shadows in older horror movies was now dragged into the garish light of day. the monsters were finally out of the closet.”

Hot off the presses, it's the first (and probably only) issue of Vatore Magazine! Pick up your copy now to see all 22 (!) looks in detail, shop the must-have CC, and - most importantly - collect some new scraps of coveted Vatore lore. 👀
READ VATORE MAGAZINE (PDF)
So, yeah, guess who thought they were going to do a straightforward decades lookbook and ended up making things entirely too complicated? 🙋‍♀️ The visual side of my brain is always tickled when CC creators put together little catalogs for their collections. That was my initial inspiration. Then I did a half-baked magazine cover concept and wanted to make a better one. I used this template as a base, and the headlines ended up being the most fun part. Anyway, I don't know how many people will click the link let alone scroll through the entire thing, but you'll be rewarded with several paragraphs of Vatore history if you do. I did this more to properly establish their timeline for myself than anything else, but I put a lot of care and time into it, so I appreciate anyone who reads. ❤️

I was wondering if you know of any bouffant hairstyles that wealthier / powerful women wore in the 70s - 80s? Like Countess Raine Spencer, Barbara Cartland, and Margaret Thatcher?

I finally made one of those lists of my favorite movies and even though I tried to be very discerning it still ended up being almost 300 movies, that's way too many to make one those polls for and the trend is probably over by now anyway.

Hyper Combat Unit Dangaioh Review
youtube
The first two episodes are beautiful, they look incredible. Third episode? At the very least the release quality isn’t as good so its hard to tell but you can really tell this is one of those OVA situations where you were just making shit and hoping they would keep giving you another episode. Bubblegum Crisis was lucky and got 8 this wasn’t so lucky and it only got 3. The story is, once again, nothing too crazy, but not bad either.

HIGH-RISE
I keep mentioning ballard over here, and on bsky I made a comment that robert laing and nick carraway "look"/"feel" similar in my mind: it's partially because of how characters function in their respective narratives (to over simplify it so I don't accidentally write a whole essay, they're "observers"), but also because both gatsby and high-rise give me parallel sensations of something like voyeuristic claustrophobia. which is why I usually re-read high-rise after finishing gatsby! it's not quite a cycle tho bc if I read high-rise first, I skip gatsby and go right to kingdom come
anyway: the man of the hour, robert laing!

I'm sorry but I simply do not accept that Edward doesn't like 60s or 70s music. I know the bit's playing on him being a Super Serious guy but you're really gonna tell me Edward wasn't excited exploring jazz fusion? Prog rock would've been at least hit-or-miss for him.
I would believe he holds a grudge because of the rise of bubblegum pop and disco or whatever. Fine. But tbh it's way more likely that he was half joking, half being a pretentious little hipster in front of his crush when he wrote those years off

Time travel is a reality! However, it's still in the early stages, and you can only go as far back as seventy-something years.
Feel free to explain your reasons in the tags :P
