Lilith: Must we really sit for one of these every goddamn year?

Caleb: It's decennial, Lil, just like your silly little parties. And, yes, we must. It's important to preserve the passage of time.

Lilith: You say that, but don't tell me there aren't decades you'd rather never think about again, let alone find hanging on your wall for an eternity.

Waiter: [whispers] Ms. Vatore, your guests are beginning to arrive.

Lilith: Oh, thank god! I feel like I'm calcifying over here.

Caleb: But the portrait's not even close to finished!

Lilith: Forget the portrait, Caleb. If they're a professional, which they should be, considering the obscene amount of money you paid them, they can finish the job without us. Now, come. We have a grand entrance to make. And can you at least pretend to be happy to be here? I even let you invite some of your dreadfully dull vegetarian friends.

Caleb: Would you really call everyone else on the list your friends?

Lilith: Not in the strictest sense of the word, no, but I like to know I've got them all under my thumb regardless.

Quelle che non conosco proprio sono in tutto solo sei, delle altre ho visto almeno qualche episodio prima di mollarle, oppure ne ho beccato un episodio ogni tanto senza mai seguirle con continuità (per esempio cdca e updc).

Sometimes I feel funny about enjoying my life since I live and work in my hometown. I'm currently sitting in an office about 2 miles from the hospital where I was born. Growing up, everyone told me to leave, because there's nothing here.

I'm not so sure about that now, a decade after moving home. There's whatever we build and maintain here. We romanticize flight from the places we know. And that can be great. Broadened horizons, cultural encounters.

But everywhere needs lawyers. And nurses, teachers, custodians, construction workers, short haul truckers, grocery clerks, restauranteurs, and artists.

And you really can have broader horizons in your own backyard. I had an arepa for lunch made by the sweetest and most enthusiastic Venezuelan woman, who started her restaurant because a local small business incubator works with a Latine education center. I take art classes from talented and passionate people who have built an institution that offers everything from loom weaving to oil painting to welding to glass blowing. I'm a short drive from a dozen gorgeous lakes.

The difference an individual can make in a smaller city like this is more substantial and the community bonds are different. I never really felt like part of the campus community at my last school- I was set apart to evaluate and judge. Here I'm integrated, I build relationships, I'm anything but anonymous.

L'iconico attore è morto nella sua casa di Douchy, vicino a Parigi. Delon è stato una forza dominante nel cinema francese e internazionale, soprattutto negli anni '60 e '70. Ha raggiunto una vasta fama con il suo ruolo ne Il Gattopardo (1963) di Luchino Visconti, ma è stato il suo ritratto di un solitario sicario in Le Samouraï (1967) di Jean-Pierre Melville a consacrarlo come icona cinematografica. La sua persona fredda ed enigmatica, combinata con il suo aspetto affascinante, lo ha reso una presenza costante in numerosi film polizieschi e d'avventura. Tra questi La Piscina (1968), un thriller psicologico teso, e Borsalino (1970), dove ha recitato accanto a Jean-Paul Belmondo. Delon ha continuato a brillare anche in film successivi come Parole de Flic (1985), dimostrando il suo fascino duraturo. Nel 2019 è stato insignito della prestigiosa Palma d'Oro alla carriera al Festival di Cannes, in riconoscimento del suo contributo al cinema lungo decenni.
