The votes tick up one by one. Some souls call for Justice, and others for Mercy. Some are offered in silence, others with a word or two, one way or another, save for one.

Xander smiles a little, as Ghostheart next to him makes her speech and grants Dominick a vision. Hearing her so full of life, laughing and teasing fills him with a sense of warmth and pride. He's so glad for her, from the bottom of his heart, that she's come so far from just a little while ago, like a shadow's been lifted.

His smile only grows as the votes finish coming in. Mercy beating Justice by a great amount, with the final vote, Dominick's own. also coming in as Mercy. Finally, at the end of it all, the Lord of Roses is laid to rest with Dominick's earnest wish to just... Live. To finally live his own life, one of his own choosing. And with that vote.. It was all over. The game, everything that had come to pass over the weeks or months they'd all spent here was over.

What a thought that was. That this could end, and something new could begin from it's ashes.

Xander allows Dominick some time, just letting him cry into NULL's arms, before he addresses the ex-mastermind approaching him with an unreadable expression at first, until he's near the man...

And then reaches up to ruffle Dominick's hair and ears with a hand, his expression a bright grin once more. He may not be sure he'll ever forgive Dominick, but that didn't mean the man wasn't his friend. That he wasn't dear to Xander, even now. 

"And live thou shall, Dominick. That will be my curse, my final action as a demon. With the vestiges of my own dark power, I shall curse thee with a blessed life, one long and full of the joy you could not have before." He intones with a serious tone of voice, the dramatics coming to him as natural as breathing, though he no longer hides behind them. "The curse is laid upon thee now! So you'd best make the most of it or you'll suffer my wrath."

Cuddling w Belphie is fun and all until...

A/n: thought the idea was fun. But honestly...I kinda wanna just nap w Belphie however long he wants haha

Word count: 385 words.

Having Belphie as your lover is great and all, considering he's not as possessive or clingy as the other kings. But there's one thing that's both a blessing and a curse when you're with him: cuddles.

Cuddling with Belphie feels like being embraced by heaven's clouds and having the sun warming you up in just the right way. With Belphie being a quiet partner who doesn't move or make a sound in his sleep that you sometimes think he might be dead, cuddling with him is soft and easy and makes you sleep better than any bed you've ever laid on.

That is, until you wake up hours later and notice that he's still in the same position. One arm wrapped around your torso, laying on his stomach with his face buried in a pillow. You look at the clock and realize that you missed your 4 o'clock meeting with Paimon and Eligos.

You shift, trying to move Belphie's arm off you but it doesn't budge. It's too heavy and it doesn't help that Belphie unconsciously pulls you closer to him, arms wrapping tighter as if he knew you were trying to escape. You turn to your lover, trying to shake him awake but he merely grunts in response before going silent once again.

And then you realize further that it's Friday the 13th, which usually indicates that he's about to go on a week-long mini hibernation.

Cuddling with Belphie feels like being embraced by heaven's clouds until you realize that when he falls asleep like this, you're trapped with him until he eventually wakes up himself. Which, in your case, would be days away.

Beleth finds you in his king's room, squirming and trying to push the sleeping demon away, after he notices that you didn't leave Niflheim by the time you said you were going to. He chuckles sheepishly at your situation, looking away when you glare at him, and tries to make it up to you by providing you with necessities and other things you need to survive in a week in his king's embrace.

When Belphie eventually wakes up, you scramble to get out of his hold that he just lets you. He sits up, still groggy and tired, and asks Beleth why you were acting that way. Beleth just smiles.

He can feel them staring intensely. It doesn't bother him the slightest, given that he's received far more hostile glares, but that doesn't mean he's not curious. It's rare for his darling to look at him like that.

"Is there something wrong?"

Andrealphus turned to where they are, senses acute enough to locate them despite their quiet. There was a rustle of cloth and soon enough a body pressed against his.

"You have a lot of scars..."

"Do they bother you?"

He was never one for vanity, before or after being blind. What only mattered was that he was, at the very least, clothed. Even when he became one of Niflheim's nobles. Black did well with bloodstains and a simple suit was all he needed. A tie was out of the question because no matter how much he practiced, he somehow could never get it right. And the only reason that he bothered to braid his hair was because it could be a liability in battle, what with getting tangled or grabbed if he let it be.

So, appearances were the least of his concerns. So long as his body functioned well enough to fight, that's all that mattered.

"They don't bother me," they reassured. "It's just that, seeing them makes me realise what you went through."

Their fingers gently tapped at his wrist before holding his hand.

"I never really cared for the scars." For the majority of his existence, all Andrealphus did was fight. "The doctors from Paradise Lost can't say no to me when I ask for their assistance."

He's a model patient to them, following orders and recommendations to hasten his recovery. Rushing things would be a detriment in battle.

There had been times when he'd been too zealous with fighting and outright disregarding his physical state in order to fulfill his bloodlust. It cost him and his comrades dearly.

Gusion's rant and Bathin's disapproving comments still ring in his ears to this day. Yet they still helped him, dragging him back to where Marbas was in order to receive proper treatment. He made sure to express his thanks by staying put and actually listening to the doctor.

"Still," his darling insisted, snuggling closer to him. "It makes me sad, I guess? That you had to go experience such pain. I know you can handle it and that you've gone through worse but..."

The pair sat in silence, the mid afternoon sun filtering through the window and the sheets rumpled over their bare lap.

Andrealphus thinks he understands. Humans are delicate after all and Niflheim demons are the hardiest of devils in Hell, followed by those of Tartaros. Not to mention he is a noble to boot. Suffice to say, his body can take a lot before he's down for the count. Yet he also understands their concern, he thinks. They've never interacted with devils before they got to Hell and what knowledge they have of its residents are only surface level.

Maybe he should accept Gusion's offer of tutoring his darling about the norms and cultures in Hell. There was also a suggestion from Bathin to give them basic training for self defense.

Maybe.

Are his scars that unsightly that his darling would go so far as to point it out? It's not that he's unaware of them. They're just a fact of life, given that the entirety of Hell was at war for a century now and he was constantly on the frontline.

"Are they that unsightly?" Enough for them to point it out?

"No. Not the slightest. In fact," they trailed off, sounding a little hesitant. "I find them attractive."

"Oh, I have no doubt towards that," Andrealphus said with a chuckle. "If I remember correctly, you jumped on me the first time you saw me shirtless—oof!"

His darling punched him lightly (to him at least), as they grumbled in embarrassment. He wrapped his arms around them, pulling them in for a kiss. They still haven't cleaned up from earlier activities, thought that's the least of his concerns right now. Not when his darling kisses him back with equal fervor and adoration.

"Andrea–" They gasped, moaning as Andrealphus set his eager mouth to their chest. Such music to his ears. "C-can I touch your– Ah! Your scars–"

Their nails dug into his shoulders, trying to steady themself as he set them on his lap properly. He growled as they yanked at his hair, halting his onslaught so they can catch their breath.

"Can I?" They asked, breath ragged and a face flushed.

"You can touch wherever," he said, giving them one last kiss as reassurance. He let them settle on his lap properly and patiently waited.

Hesitant fingers traced along his right bicep. He knew there was a scar there having touched it when he bathes.

"Where is this from?"

"Sparring with Bathin."

"Oh?"

"He is skilled with his sword. If I were any slower, it would've gone through my arm."

His darling let out a concerned hum but kept quiet nonetheless.

The rest of their afternoon went like that. Tentative touches on scar tissues and hushed voices asking questions as they explored the visible scars on his body. They used to be inconsequential to him. Just another notch on his body as proof of another hard won battle and further proof of him reaching his goals. But with how his darling touches them, even going so far as to give the bigger ones a kiss made him feel proud to have them.

Andrealphus thinks he'd found a slice of paradise, here in his humble home, with his darling in his lap, and the rest of the world so far away.

Ever wonder where do the names of the kingdoms (or regions) of Hell come from? Let's find out in this trivia post :3

Gehenna

"Gehenna", in the Bible and in real life, was originally the name of the valley of Hinnom, outside of the city of Jerusalem. In this valley, many committed the gruesome sin of sacrificing children to the god Moloch. Because of this sin, the valley was cursed by the Jews and its name was used to call the final punishing place of the reprobate. In Christianity, "Gehenna" is used to designate the place where all the demons and the damned human will thrown in at the Last Judgement, "the lake of fire", "the unquenchable fire".

Tartaros

"Tartaros", or Tartarus, was originally the term to describe the abyss of torment and suffering for the wicked and the Titans in Greek mythology.

In the 4th century BC, Greek culture and language were spread to all Eastern Mediterranean countries by the conquest of Alexander the Great. Greek became the common language in these countries and remained so for many centuries. The New Testament of the Bible was written in Greek. The term "Tartaros" was adopted by Christianity to describe Hell. Although "Tartaros" doesn't technically appear in the Bible, the associated verb tartaroō ("throw to Tartaros") does. (The verb itself is a shortened form of another verb with similar meaning kata-tartaroō ("throw down to Tartaros").

In the Bible, Tartaros is the place where fallen angels are chained to wait for judgement.

Hades

The name of the underworld in Greek mythology. It was also adopted by Christianity and used to describe Hell. However, different from Gehenna and Tartaros, Hades is a little bit complicated.

Before the work of redemption was completed in Jesus's death and resurrection, the gate of Heaven was closed. So when a someone died, that person would go to Hell (Hades) ragardless of good or bad. However, in Hades, there was "a great chasm", according to the Bible, separating the good and the bad. The good people either didn't suffer or was purified of their venial sins, while the bad people on the other side really did suffer. No one from "the good side" could cross to the other side, and vice versa.

After Jesus died, his soul descended to Hades and released the just who were detained in Hades and brought them to Heaven, while leaving the damned on the other side of the chasm, waiting for the Last Judgement, after which, both Hades and the wicked in it will be thrown into Gehenna "the lake of fire", for eternal punishment.

Abyssos

The name "Abyssos" comes from "abyss", which is also a word to describe Hell. The precise word "Abyssos" does not exist in the Bible or mythology, as far as I know.

Paradise Lost

This country shares its name with the famous work written by the poet John Milton in the 17th century. The poem Paradise Lost is a dramatized version that retells the story of the fallen angels and their role in the fall of Adam and Eve.

Niflheim

The name comes from Norse mythology of the Scandinavian people. Originally, Niflheim was realm of primordial ice and fog, being one of the two primordial realms, the other being Muspelheim, the realm of fire. Later, the realm became the abode of Hel, the daughter of the god Loki, and it became the afterlife for those who didn't die a heroic or notable death, overlapping with another realm in Norse cosmology, Helheim.

Abaddon

In the Bible, "Abaddon" is both a place and an entity. As a place, Abaddon is the place of destruction, the realm for the dead. As an individual entity, Abaddon is described in the Bible as "a king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon; in Latin Exterminans" - Revelation 9:11

Now "Abaddon" is entirely tied with the meaning of destruction. Abaddon itself means destruction or "place of destruction". The root of the word abad means perish, or destroy. Both the Greek name Apollyon and the Latin name Exterminans mean destroyer.

Patching up a demon is easier than patching up his uniform. A howl of frustration escaped your lips when Gusion's torn shirt landed in your hands. What was he doing? Did he fight angels or wrestle with lions? You preferred to be angry more than to cry on the sight of blood stains.

"He's okay." Bathin stroked your head as you sigh. The angels came after you and them being hurt was your fault, but you didn't pursue the topic, sure that he would deny it. Especially since you were one and there were two of them. As usual, Andrealphus won the "whose lap will you sit on" competition.

"Seventy two are the deadliest killing machines in Hell. You have nothing to worry about."

This so-called killing machine sat with his nose in your hair, holding you in his lap and wrapping his arms around your waist. He was quiet more than he spoke, but you could feel the vibrations in his chest as he purred against your back.

"I just wish you didn't have to take such risks."

"Especially since some of us do not hold back their strength." Gusion emerged from the room with a bandaged chest and a sterile dressing on his forehead, but otherwise looked fine. You breathed a sigh of relief. He also looked more relaxed than usual when he saw you. "Last time someone almost broke my arm."

"Because someone tried to chop off my horns." Andrea replied, unimpressed. "I can hear you're doing well."

"Quite."

Wide smile appeared on your lips. Everything was really fine with them. You clutched the fabric in your hands. The shirt was useless, but you had better ideas than fixing it.

"Bathin, can you take me to Earth?"

All three of them became alert. Gusion frowned, Bathin's hand went to the belt where he held his sword, and Andrea tightened his grip around your waist.

"Sure, but... why? It's dangerous."

You picked up the damaged material and showed all its pathetic nature, and even put Andrea's hand on it to let him know what was going on.

"It's of no use anymore. I thought... I could sew you something myself."

Soldiers melted at the sight of your smile. So what if they were killer machines? Suddenly, it became important for them to find out where the best fabric stores in whole Hell were. You didn't know yet what trip awaited you. Your hands patched their clothes, but it was your presence that patched their scarred hearts.

We were friends, Xander. I don’t want you to doubt that even in the face of all of this.

In an instant all of Xander's hard won anger dissipates. Damn it. This is what he'd wanted, wasn't it? For there to have been meaning in everything? For his friend to be in there somewhere? For Beowulf, for Dominick's kindness to have been real? He'd been so angry to see how Vanagandr had been acting, for him to act so cold, so distant, like none of these months had really meant anything at all. Xander was mad he'd fallen for that kind of trick again, but at the same time he'd refused to believe in it. Maybe that was stubbornness, or foolishness, but in the end, he'd been right.

You have a warm heart, you are kind, and I enjoyed our time together.

A warm heart. That gets to him more than anything else. After spending so long cold and alone, to be told he has a warm heart... So much for that speech, for the anger that had propelled such harsh words out of him. Hearing Dominick's words, Xander turns away, so no one can see the tears that start to stream down his face before freezing in place. Not that he can really hide that he's crying, not with the frost coating his shoulders and the table behind him.

He just needs a while to recompose himself. And so he lets the conversation of the others wash over him, hears Fantasia's words and almost freezes in place as it seems to open up a better picture for him. Of what and why Dominick was acting like this. He holds those words and the ones that come after it in his mind. Firebug and then Elegante and then NULL after her. NULL, speaking so deeply from his heart that it made Xander's ache just listening to him.

He can't be angry anymore, seeing all that, hearing NULL speak from the bottom of his heart. Even if he's frustrated at Dominick himself, even if he's not sure he'll ever forgive him for any of this, he can't be mad. Tears still in his eyes, he turns back to face his friend, and stares him down.

"They're right, you know. Fantasia and NULL. About playing parts. It's easy, isn't it? To play a monster when it's the only role you've ever known, when it's comfortable, when it's what you feel you deserve. A weapon, a tool, a demon or a monster. A force of destruction, an intrument made to hurt. It's the simplest thing in the world to fall back on that, even when you want more. Even when you know you're the one who cast yourself in that role." Hands balling into fists again, ice crystals glittering around him as he speaks.

The ice has a mind of it's own, as Dominick had said. It always had been an indicator of powerful emotion, due to how Xander's power had manifested at all. Xander has found it frustrating, embarrassing that he couldn't control it. But here, he feels it just enforces his point. Of how strongly he feels about this.

"But you can't do that. You can't keep playing that part when your heart isn't in it. When you want more, despite what you've been made to think. We're friends, you said and that proves it. That you had friends at all, that you have NULL, that Fantasia can read you like an open book. That you're backing down now, that Haruka was able to change your mind in the last trial, that you said my heart is warm."

He gestures with his hands, no longer clenching them. With every movement there's a small flurry of snow and ice particles. "Your heart isn't ice cold, and I know because I thought mine was too. I've thought I was a demon since I was a kid, had people say it when they thought I couldn't hear, sometimes even to my face when they were upset enough. Grew up thinking I was a monster and deserved no better than that. But newsflash, that's fucked up! We're both so fucked up for thinking that we're nothing but weapons or whatever the hell people wanted us to be. Neither of us deserved to get to that point, and while you've committed some actual, literal atrocities, that doesn't mean all the hell you went through before was justified!"

Like a blizzard, like a storm, the momentum builds to a frenzy. He's speaking to Dominick from a very personal place now. He's been in this spot. Not so drastically sure, but he knows how it feels. Knows how hard it is to break from those thoughts. He struggles with them even now, and he knows it's only thanks to other people that he was ever able to break away at all. So he'll take their words, and try and hold them out to Dominick now, hold out a hand from one 'demon' to another. 

"None of that was okay, none of what you've done is okay either! You're gonna have to make your peace with the crimes you've committed, Dominick Derosiers, and you're going to have to figure out what the hell you want to be when you get out of here, because you're not gonna die here and you sure as hell aren't going to be a weapon anymore. I can't tell you what to be, I don't even know what I'm doing, but I do know this. You're gonna have the time to figure it out. You're gonna get off this godforsaken island -no offence Tempest, I'm sure it was great before- and you're gonna figure it out. Bou won't be forgiven, you won't forgive yourself, but you're going to figure it out and you're going to live as your own goddamn person!"

If the game decides to include in the game all of the 72 devils, which I highly doubt, we already know 29 of them.

Now I'm gonna answer some possible doubts.

Why is Asmodeus in the list of the 72 devils? I have no idea, I promise that I'm going to investigate that further and then I'll edit this post.

Why isn't the list organized? This is more of a quick list just to keep track of the demons we have available in the game and the ones we don't, I know they have an order and are even organized by rank, maybe in the future I'll make the list well, but it serves its purpose at least!

Those are not their names in the Ars Goetia! I know, i put in this list the names they used in the game (Only for the available ones) and some of them have many variations of their names, Prettybusy with some of the nobles used names that are not how some are used to call them for the game (I used the word "Name" too much in a single sentence)

Where is Bimet? Bimet is either Vine or Bune, but I'm still not sure.

With the introduction of Lucifer and Belphegor, they also introduced new S Class demons as their second-in-commands, Gamigin and Beleth, respectively.

I assume they will do the same with Asmodeus. So, Dantalian won’t be his second, instead a demon we haven’t met yet will be.

I’m wondering about what kind of dynamic Asmo and his second will have.

For example, we’ve had in Paradise Lost, pseudo little brother. In Niflheim, dependable and happy to serve. In Abyssos, stressed and overworked.

I think it would be ironic if Asmo’s second was asexual.

What kind of dynamic would you guys want them to have?
