I started this collage years ago, partly using covers and articles from my teenage collection from way back. I only finally finished it a few weeks after Eddie passed. My nod and tribute to the King for a lifetime of inspiration. Included in there are a few Vh shirt designs I had the honor of creating for the band the last 15 years or so. Art is my life and career and this one was extra personal. The juju goes all the way back to near childhood, as I’m sure this group understands. 4me4you features the artist Derek Gores.

Best known for lush collage portraits formed of recycled magazines and other paper, his work is an optical experience. From afar we see one image, and up close the image melts into poetic spaces, words and textures.

“I play in the gap between what you see and what you think you see. Inside your head is the real canvas. As in those great old long-exposure photos from 150 years ago, where you can feel the whole minute inside each image, I’m after a buzzing stillness. I like my pictures to barely come together with teasing little details, trusting distractions, and chance encounters along the way. When it goes well, there’s a chance to create a real experience, instead of just a picture of an experience” - Derek Gores.
