Bride or Sacrifice?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like Yui, but I love the sacrificial brides.
The psychology behind it all: thinking that they would be the one to survive, yet they just die. We all think we would be Yui in the situation, but more than likely, we'd end up just like all the other brides.
So, this is a shoutout to:
All the brides who died due to the boys overindulgence and greed.
All the brides who tried to escape but got caught.
To all the girls who died due to Shu's apathy and carelessness.
To all the girls who died due to Reiji's poison.
All the girls who died due to Ayato's torture.
All the girls who were driven to insanity because of Laito.
The brides who were turned into wax dolls by Kanato.
All the girls who died at the hands of Subaru's reckless brutality.
Most importantly, all the girls who died during the awakening because of an old vampire's sick, twisted game.

She's something worth holding onto After everything she's gone through Rose full of thorns Hope through the storms She's got stories that could haunt you
— Curiosity by Bryce Savage
Yuriko pressed her palms together and lowered her gaze. She was standing at the far end of the backyard of the Mukami manor in the shadows of tall trees, where she had built a tiny stone shrine that held a photo frame with her mother’s picture. She had just placed a cup of rice right next to it.
Mom, if you can hear me… I’m so sorry what happened to you. I never realized how your life was, I never saw it for real. I probably made many mistakes, but you said nothing about them. And… I didn’t ask how you were and what was going on in your mind. Then you were suddenly gone… A whimpering sob escaped Yuriko’s lips. I wish we would have more time together… but I understand that you had to go to Yuuto. But… but… if only you had told me, then I would have realized sooner… I loved you so much, yet I didn’t say it often enough. And now, it’s too late…
So much had happened in the last few years. Yuriko’s mother, Tsukino Hisoka, had gone missing when Yuriko had been in her second year of high school. She had started to skip classes, until she hadn’t gone to school at all during her third year, ending up failing completely. After that, her father, Tsukino Keisuke, had moved them to Kaminashi City… which had turned Yuriko’s life upside down or more like, inside out.
Little had Yuriko known, that her parents had met in the said city, fallen in love there, and married, even though her mother had been a Kitsune and ran away from her home village that was located in the Demon World. All this had been slowly revealed to Yuriko after she had met a Vampire called Mukami Ruki in Ryoutei Academy where her father had forced her to start over her third year.
I know it might sound scary, Mom, but I have found my happiness with Ruki. Only because of him, the seal you and Dad made that witch put in my blood was broken and my fox side surfaced. Because of Ruki, I can finally be myself. Yuriko sighed. Was that too harsh? Surely, her parents had thought what would have been the best for her and that’s why hid away her supernatural true nature. I… I don’t blame you for doing it, of course not. But I’m happier this way. Ruki… I love him, and I don’t care that he is a Vampire. So, you simply need to accept that, Mom.
Was her mother happy now? Yuriko couldn’t help but wonder. Hisoka had been executed for running away and marrying a human, and Yuriko would never see her again. It had been so long ago since they had talked to each other the last time. So many things had been left unsaid.
Yuriko lifted her gaze and looked at her mother’s photo. Hisoka didn’t smile in it but stared into the distance. It had been taken in the same year, Yuriko had been born, hence Hisoka looked much younger in it than Yuriko remembered her. But it had been the only photo she had managed to find in the apartment she had shared with her father for a brief while. For some reason, Keisuke had left that photo behind along with all Yuriko’s things, when he had left. To where? Yuriko didn’t know… and she had come to realize that she didn’t care. It was better this way. Now, the man couldn’t hurt her or her big brother, Yuuto, anymore.
“But Mom, don’t worry. I’m going to do my best in school now and help Yuuto build his life here in the Human World. Everything will be fine for both of us. Your efforts weren’t in vain.” Yuriko clapped her hands together two times and bowed her head for a moment.
“Here you are…” The voice from behind the bushes made Yuriko flinch. She glanced at her mother one last time before turning around.
“Ruki…” Curling her lips up, Yuriko tried to make her eyes shine.
Ruki stepped into the shadows that offered a fresh spot in the summer’s heat. Even though Yuriko was sure the Vampires didn’t sweat, Ruki had replaced his usual combo of long-sleeved shirt and blazer with a black t-shirt that had a skull pattern. Yuriko was sure that Kou had gotten it for Ruki. She dug her bare toes into the soft ground as if drawing strength directly from the earth. She was only wearing a light sundress and still sweating. How unfair.
“A penny for your thoughts, my angel.”
“Umh…” Shifting in place, Yuriko hid her hands behind her back. “Nothing big… I just… came here to… talk to Mom…”
A cool touch brushed Yuriko’s hair off her cheek and behind her ear. Leaning in, Ruki pecked her lips. “I see.”
“I… I… know it doesn’t probably make sense, but I feel closer to her this way…”
“Then you should keep doing this. I will tell my brothers to leave this corner alone.” Ruki wrapped his arm around Yuriko’s waist. “But if you are done now, you could come to the pool with me.”
Yuriko leaned against Ruki. “Isn’t Yuma still in the garden, filling that mystery hole that had appeared while we all were buying the groceries?”
Ruki shook his head. “He finished with it. I still do not understand where it came from. It looked like something had dropped from the sky… Haa… probably my imagination.” Nudging his nose against Yuriko’s, Ruki smirked. “However, Kou took Yuma and Azusa out, so now, we are all alone here.” He captured Yuriko’s bottom lip between his and gave it a gentle tug.
Gasping, Yuriko nodded, and Ruki released her lip. Before she could say anything, he had already gathered her into his arms. Hastily she enveloped his neck with her hands, holding onto him while he marched through the yard towards the pool. When he stepped into direct sunlight, the heat welcomed Yuriko once more.
“Somehow, this summer feels hotter than any other…” Yuriko buried her face in the crook of Ruki’s neck. He was cold against her, like her personal cooler in the sweltering weather. But being this close to him caused a whole new problem, another one Yuriko had struggled with recently.
Was it because of the summer heat? Was it something else? Yuriko had no idea, but as she drew breath and Ruki’s musky scent sailed into her nose, her heart took a sudden leap and she was happy that he was carrying her, for her legs would surely have given up in this very instant. Sticky, soaking feeling slithered deep within her, gluing her panties between her thighs even though Ruki had literally done or suggested nothing more than alone time in the pool.
“Hmm… already turned on by your master~?” Ruki’s whisper vibrated against Yuriko’s eardrum, causing a squeeze in her. She shifted in his arms, letting him feel her fingernails on his nape. “Lately, you have been much more like this than before, almost like I have awoken something in you. I wonder what it is…”
I wonder about it too! Yuriko gasped against Ruki’s neck, covering it with tiny kisses. His groan encouraged her, and she gave him a tiny suck. Probably not enough to leave a mark but the sudden urge to have his everything was coursing faster and faster in her. She needed him right now.
“You started to use the new potion this month, did you not?” Ruki’s voice was already hoarse.
The new potion for contraception? Yuriko nodded. Ruki had gotten her another one that needed to take only once a month after she had started to forget her daily routine due to all the stress that had dropped on her shoulders lately.
“Mhm, I have… ” Yuriko breathed the words on his skin, tracing the column on his neck with her tongue. He was cool and salty, just what she yearned for.
“Good girl.” Ruki put Yuriko down right next to the pool before grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling the cloth over his head. It landed on the grass. “My brothers will be away until the evening…” There went his belt. “Come here…”
Grabbing Yuriko by her waist, Ruki pulled her against him. She could feel a bulge pressing on her belly as his hands traveled along her back until they met her buttocks and slid under them, flipping her hem. “So many clothes even though it is hot…”
“Maybe… you should help me get out of them… Master~?” Yuriko lifted her gaze, realizing it was blurry.
Ruki leaned in, capturing her lips with a brief smooch. “Color me curious. What is lying behind those pretty eyes of yours that just changed their shade?” Leaving Yuriko’s butt alone for a moment, Ruki lifted his hand and picked up her eyeglasses. He made sure they were secured on a table near the pool.
“Umh… thoughts of you in the night…” Yuriko swayed her hips. The soaked sensation heated her face even more. “Feelings… I might need to feed…”
“Yet the sun is far from setting…” Ruki stepped closer again, gazing at Yuriko from head to toe. “You look like a little angel…” Without further ado, he snatched her dress, ripping it off her and tossing it on the ground, leaving her standing in her lingerie in front of him.
The moist, soaking feeling was spreading. Soon, it would reach Yuriko’s thighs.
Ruki simply watched her, smirking. “Naughty thoughts, my angel?”
“I… I…  umh… just want to make you feel good…” This was almost too much. Yuriko feared she would faint soon if she didn’t cool down. With a hasty decision, she turned her back to Ruki, lifting her arm and inching her finger under her bra from the backside. Soon, it was unhooked, and she let it slide down.
“Hmm~?” There was a hint of intrigue in Ruki’s voice.
Almost quivering, Yuriko tugged her fingers under the waistband of her panties. She wished she would have worn lace instead of cotton today, but it couldn’t be helped now. Leaning forward, she glided the fabric down her bottom. She didn’t crouch her legs as she lowered the tiny piece of clothing, allowing Ruki to view her from behind for the whole time.
This surely didn’t help with the overly heated feeling but that was one of the reasons Yuriko let this happen. She lifted one foot after another, dropping the panties near the edge of the pool.
“Such a beautiful view. You should stay like that for a moment.” Ruki chuckled. “Or perhaps spread your legs a bit.”
Shivering, Yuriko moved her thighs apart. As she started to feel light-headed, she could hear the sound of Ruki’s zipper going down. Rustle revealed that his pants went off, probably along his boxers, releasing the hardness Yuriko would have wanted right this very instant. Her insides clenched, pushing out more sticky moistness of lust as if welcoming Ruki to enter anytime now.
I can’t handle this! I’m flaring all over! Yuriko straightened up, panting as she peeked over her shoulder only to notice how ready Ruki was for action. She could already imagine the wet slaps, skin against skin as he would thrust her into oblivion and bliss. Oh, she wanted him to shove his hardness deep into her so roughly she would see stars instantly. So harshly that her moans would echo from the wall of the manor. She needed him to fuck her until there was no sense left in anything.
I can’t be this lewd! Oh my gosh!
Turning her head, Yuriko took a leap. A step. Second. A jump. The air swooshed in her ears as her feet left the ground. She gasped and closed her eyes. Her feet broke the surface of the water first, sinking into coolness. The water splashed around her just before it covered her all over as she slid toward the bottom of the pool. Such a pleasure!
Yuriko’s soles reached the floor of the pool, and she bounced upwards. Only seconds later she broke the surface again, gulping for air and blinking as water ran down her cheeks. She couldn’t help but notice how Ruki stared at her from the edge of the pool.
“I should punish you for jumping off without permission.” The words came with a chuckle.
“Ehh? But —”
Yuriko’s protest was interrupted when Ruki dived into the pool. He broke the water hands and head first without splattering it as Yuriko had done. She could see how he swam closer and closer, popping up right next to her only moments later.
Droplets sparkled in Ruki’s dark hair and slid down his nose as he blinked for a while. Yuriko pedaled in place to keep herself in an upright position. She was still slightly out of breath from the jump… and now it felt like not even the water could completely cool her down. Could it be that the new potion made her act like this?
Ruki hauled Yuriko into his embrace, lifting her lightly. Without further thought, she enveloped his waist with her thighs only to feel his hard shaft pressing between their bodies. Holding Ruki by his nape, she raised her gaze to meet his eyes. As she nibbled her bottom lip, Ruki let out a chuckle.
“And now you are acting all innocent. Are you trying to spur your master on with these tricks of yours?” He tilted his head. “Is that so, my angel?”
“I…” Yuriko swallowed. To be honest, she wasn’t sure. It was like something new had opened in her this summer. After everything they had been through it felt impossible to hold back. Her life was here and now, and she wished to have everything with Ruki before someone would take it all away. It was clear that anything she had at the moment could turn out into nothing in the next one.
Before Yuriko could muster an answer, Ruki captured her mouth and pulled her into a kiss. He gave her lower lip a hungry nip as if reminding her how his love could easily hurt and heal at the same time. As always, his kiss was cruel and devouring, impossible to resist.
Already trembling in Ruki’s arms, Yuriko opened her mouth and allowed his tongue to meander in. Groaning, Ruki started a tempting tango that set Yuriko’s soul on fire and pushed all else from her mind.
Pouring everything in the smooch, Ruki made the couple float through the pool until Yuriko’s back met the edge in the shallower end. Only then, he broke the smack, leaving Yuriko panting. He spun her over, pressing her against the rim. In the instant his teeth raked her nape, tongue flicking over the skin.
“You burn like the sun…” Ruki placed a peck on the crook of Yuriko’s neck and nuzzled her shoulder, scraping it. “You should get your punishment…”
Ruki’s lips were as cold as his body but that wasn’t enough to stop the flaring that had taken Yuriko over. Without another warning, he pierced the skin of her shoulder with his fangs and grunted as her blood gushed out. A cry pressed out of Yuriko and her body arched against the edge of the pool as white pain shot through her, blinding her mind from other sensations for a moment. With each suck, Ruki pulled her deeper into dark temptations that contradicted the brightness dancing around the yard.
“Ruki… ahh… please…” Yuriko wasn’t sure what she begged for. Even in the scorching daylight, the world faded from her. Her entire body tingled at Ruki’s touch as his body prowled against hers. His rough hand squeezed and caressed her buttock.
Another pleading moan left Yuriko’s lips. “Please… please… please… I need you…”
As Ruki pulled his fangs out of her skin, Yuriko whimpered. His cold tongue glided over the fresh bite, sealing it but not taking away the sweet swollen pain that throbbed in her.
“You must state your wishes clearly.”
Ruki’s words made Yuriko pant. Frowning, she tried to muster out more even though her whole body was tensed, and her brain turned into a mush. “I… I… need… to fuck… you.”
Silence followed.
Ruki turned Yuriko around, meeting her gaze. There was a whirlpool behind his eyes of the cloudy evening sky. “You… need to fuck your master?”
Slowly, Yuriko managed a nod.
A smirk arose.
“I see. But it does not work like that.” Ruki’s voice was hoarse. He hauled Yuriko against him, his hardness rubbing on her belly. “I am your master, and I will fuck you. Not the other way around.”
Placing her hands on Ruki’s shoulders, Yuriko gripped them. She was pure fire inside, not wanting to hold back any longer. “Please… it… I… I… umh… wish… for it…”
Something flashed in Ruki’s eyes as his arms tightened possessively around Yuriko. His length pressed on her front; hard steel ready to intrude in her. The silence lingered again, and Yuriko dared not open her mouth again.
A minute passed. Perhaps two.
Suddenly, Ruki rolled them over, his back resting against the pool's edge. He lifted Yuriko up and onto his lap, onto his shaft. “Then that is what you will get.”
Gasping, Yuriko held Ruki’s shoulders tighter. Emboldened by her own reckless desire, she swayed her hips and guided him in, not believing that she truly was straddling him, easing herself down and taking him in. His girth stretched her, forcing a long moan out of her lungs.
Ruki gripped Yuriko’s hips, his fingernails slightly digging into her skin as a groan compressed through her mouth. He jerked his shaft up, filling Yuriko to the deepest parts of her. Her back arched in response, and she wiggled against him, whining in a way that sounded almost like howling.
“That’s… my… good… girl!” Ruki thrusted up, groaning between each word. He slid one hand on the small of Yuriko’s back and the other up her spine, all the way to her head, pressing her face closer while his fingers entangled with her hair.
Capturing her lips, Ruki locked Yuriko into his embrace and started to ram into her. Their foreheads pressed together as they moved together, body to body, mouth to mouth. Each thrust sent Yuriko reeling as she enjoyed every single second of holding Ruki inside her.
Almost scrunching Yuriko, Ruki kept going, and she luxuriated in the sweet sensation of almost painful penetration that sent her toward the flaring sun. Powerful sensations built and throbbed below her waist as her every nerve end quivered. Her body clenched around Ruki’s thick manhood, his rough motions sending her closer and closer to the edge already. Her entire body vibrated in response.
Tongues tangling, Yuriko’s insides squeezed against Ruki’s member faster and faster as she was riding to the release she ached for. Sobbing and moaning into Ruki’s mouth, she swayed her body at the pace of his harsh lunges, her cells turning into sparkles as every secret part of her cried out his name. And when he finally poured himself into her, bucking and groaning, Yuriko’s toes curled and back arched as she came apart too.
Hanging on half into kissing, half heaving, Yuriko quivered in Ruki’s arms, relishing the sensation of his cold cum flooding her. Lazily, she swung her butt, hugging his slowly softening shaft with her walls as if her body was trying to get every last drop of his juices. His hand glided to her nape, giving it a tiny clutch.
“You are such a bad girl when the mood is right…” Ruki’s whisper vibrated on Yuriko’s lips. “You simply cannot shake your lust for your master, is that it?”
“Mhm…” Yuriko swallowed, still panting. “I… I just want to be used… by you… because I trust you and love you.”
“Is that so?” Ruki chuckled.
As an answer Yuriko clenched her walls again, this time deliberately, forcing Ruki to grunt.
“I see…” Lifting Yuriko from his lap, Ruki pulled out and whirled her bridal style in his arms. “Let me carry you in.” He pecked her lips before getting up from the water and walking out of the pool.
The summer breeze traced Yuriko’s bare skin as Ruki walked under the trees and toward the manor. Even being exhausted after their tryst, she couldn’t help the heated feeling that was already coursing its way back into her veins.
Ruki stepped into the manor, heading toward his bedroom. “I love you. From the bottom of my heart. And for that, I will fulfill your wishes.”

Yuriko yawned, cuddling against Ruki on his bed. Ruki was playing with her hair in an almost lazy manner as if he had been much more relaxed than usual. The sun was sinking behind the window, disappearing behind the tall trees of the forest.
Finally, the inner burning had eased up a little. Yuriko pressed her nose against the column of Ruki’s neck. It was dry now. They had taken a shower – a rather long and heated one – after what had gone on in the pool, and then Ruki had wrapped Yuriko in a towel, making sure she had been properly dried before bringing her into his bed. Her curls were still somewhat damp, and the moist summer heat was wafting in the air, but her muscles weren’t stiff, and she was able to close her eyes and simply breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe.
This moment of peace. The couple wasn’t in a hurry. Everything was perfect right now; their worries were pushed aside. This was what Yuriko needed.
“You should move into this room…” Ruki placed a kiss on the top of Yuriko’s head. “You are always sleeping next to me anyway. We could bring your clothes and other things in here. I can move my bookshelves in the library so that we have more space here.”
“Umh… are you sure?” Yuriko fluttered her eyes open while her heart bounced a little faster. “I mean… I would love to share this room with you.”
That way we would be even more together officially, right? The soft sensation of her lips curling sent warm shivers through Yuriko’s body. She sighed when Ruki’s fingertips caressed her cheek.
“I am sure. I want to have you by my side at all times. Your everything belongs to me, and I will never let go of you. It only makes sense for us to live in the same room.” Ruki’s nose rubbed against Yuriko’s hair as he drew breath. “I wish nothing more than —”
A tap on the window.
Yuriko flinched from the sound and lifted her head, almost hitting Ruki’s chin. He crawled upright, moving her a bit further before landing his feet on the floor and heading toward the window. As he opened it, a tiny bat flew in, dropping an envelope into his hands. It flapped its wings, dancing in the air around Ruki.
“Good boy, you did well. I will call you again later, when I have read this and decided if it demands an answer.” With Ruki’s words, the bat flew back out, and Ruki made sure the window was shut again.
“Umh… what is it?” Yuriko sat up, pulling the blanket on her lap. It was too hot to wrap her body into it, and honestly, she didn’t mind Ruki seeing her naked anymore. He had seen everything and… he loved every inch of her. That much she had already learned.
Ruki scooted right next to Yuriko, pecking her cheek before he shredded the envelope open. He pulled out something that looked more like parchment than regular paper — it even had a dusty scent on it. Without answering Yuriko, Ruki focused on reading the message. And with each sentence, his brows knitted closer together.
“Haa… It seems I need to take my words back…” Ruki dropped the letter on the bed and ran his hand through his hair. “Do not get me wrong. I want to stay by your side, and I want you to live in this room with me… but that must wait a bit longer.”
“Eh?” Yuriko swallowed but that only made something cold slither down her stomach. There was such a serious tone in Ruki’s voice.
The Vampire raised his hand, brushing a damp curl behind Yuriko’s ear. “Karlheinz-sama has invited me to Eden.”
“For what?” Yuriko could hear how her voice quivered.
“I do not know. The letter said he had something important to discuss with me and that I should arrive alone.” Ruki sighed. “I am probably away for a few days. I will make sure that you are safe all the time. One of my brothers will accompany you.”
“Umh…” Yuriko hung her head. Ruki was her perfect distraction from unwanted thoughts, and now he would be gone. Even if it was only for a few days…
“You could meet up with Elizabeth. I will ask Kou to bring you to the mall and entertain you there. He knows how to do that.” Ruki snatched Yuriko’s chin and lifted it. “Then perhaps a library visit on another day and catching up with your brother on the third. You will be so busy that you do not have time to worry. And when I come back, I will spoil you so much that you will beg me to let you rest. So, make sure you will sleep enough while I am gone.”
Once again, the heat covered Yuriko’s face before the words even had time to sink in. She noticed that a glance from Ruki was enough to make her nod. She would do exactly how he wished. To be his good girl.

~~~~~~~~~~
The look that was once full of joy when she looked at the pictures of her sister was long gone. Her gaze went out of the window of the big house, one day she would burn it down, try to leave all this behind and come to her beloved sister.
Her eyes went from the full moon to the pink flip phone she saw in her gallery of photos, her sister reading her to sleep and other books. The two of them playing together, from dolls to self-made figures, and baking together, something she particularly missed.
Baking was at least something she could still do here when she was left alone...and that was something that was rather rare. But when the clicking sound of her cell phone went through her room and the screen went black, taking her grief with it for at least that night, she knew that in order not to lose her mind any more, she had to do just that.
You said it helps if you do something familiar, she thought of her sister's wise words then and perhaps now, but it was almost a joke that made her smile. A skinny girl with an eating disorder likes to bake - a bad joke that had come from Ayato or Laito all too often.
Something she was aware of but ignored, she was better than that and she would defend herself if it came to that. Slipping her pink hand into the barely visible pocket of her long, frilly dress in a light shade of pink, she picked up her favorite parasol. It must have looked a little strange for someone to walk through a house with an umbrella, but none of them were normal here. They were all lost.
Closing the door behind her, she made her way down the corridor and listened as carefully as she could in the hallway, but none of the six brothers seemed to make a sound. Shu wasn't snoring, Reiji wasn't experimenting, Ayato wasn't mumbling, Kanato wasn't screaming and Laito and Subaru weren't making a sound.
A place full of dangerous, bloodthirsty vampires should never be quiet, she knew that too. However, as she made her way through the forest, she knew that she was being watched.
She was always being watched by the six, her emotions a trigger for the vampires to feast on her. Feasting on her fear, her pain and trying to eradicate every last bit of happiness to feed on this hopelessness.
As she made her way along the corridors towards her destination, however, she felt the gaze upon her. They're here, she thought to herself, gripping the parasol tighter, not wanting to give them the satisfaction of fear. She could already see the kitchen ahead of her, but at the same moment the red-haired vampire with the green eyes emerged from the shadows.
,,If that's not a pretty bow, what are you up to?" he asked with a grin and she already seemed to know what he was getting at. If she wasn't being terrorized by the brothers then she was being used to do these things.
,,I'm baking Ayato and no, I'm not making takoyaki with you," she said sternly without showing any sign of anger on her face, but a twitch of a muscle would be enough for him to see and he could forget himself. They could all forget themselves.
She wanted to push past him with the help of the umbrella. She had seen how his grin had fallen and had not followed his order. ,,How dare you!" he interrupted and pulled her back towards him by her dress, trying to get her into his arms to drink from her. But the tearing of the fabric tore the dress, the dress her beloved sister had left her. Broken.
The pink ribbons fell down and no longer held. ,,Yui" her sister's name fell to the only person she wanted to see. Ayato paused, he knew the blonde had heard the name and tasted the blood. But in the next moment, her anger escaped the calm she had tried to maintain.
In a moment when she could have screamed, killed him, tried to kill everything and everyone, she held out her parasol and soaked the pretty white with his blood when suddenly a hand placed itself on Ayato's shoulder and pushed him backwards so violently that the eldest of the drillings was thrown against the wall. The cracking of the stone was clearly audible.
,,Ayato, be quieter... you have no right," muttered Shu, the only one of the others who almost always interfered, a detail she had also noticed. A detail that everyone had noticed. The eldest of the brothers seemed unable to detach himself from her.
An obsession, her as his property and something told Kianna that of all the evils he was the worst the worst evil which was her greatest and dearest help.
,,Miserable sleeper, then take her, but one day she will grow to my size," Ayato hissed, moving away from the wall and walking away from the two of them, but Ayato's words of warning let them both know that this was not over yet. ,,He needs to learn who you belong to," Shu murmured, his blue eyes shifting from the fallen bows to the brown-haired girl's bright, almost golden eyes.
He took one of the bows and twirled it between his fingers before handing it over and walking past her outside without a word. But his gaze, those engaging blue eyes, told her to follow him.
Taking up the remaining ribbons, she straightened her beloved kelid as best she could and put them on her cell phone before following the blond. ,,You didn't have to do that... but thank you," she reminded him, knowing that she might not have been able to kill Ayato, but she would have done anything to defend her sister, her only light in this hopeless world.
Following him out of the annexe, she found herself in the large rose garden, white and shiny roses growing in the dark light of the moon. ,,I didn't have to do it Kianna but they learn that you are mine and I thought you would have learned that too" he reminded her as if it was something they had both agreed to. Maybe we did, she thought, looking at Shu who had wrapped his hand around one of the roses, plucking the flower and holding it out to her.
,,Learn? Shu can you learn something like this it's in your nature this...madness" she said and took the rose anyway knowing that Yui had treasured it too knowing that no matter what happened he would do anything to keep it with him. Tucking the rose into her hair, she looked up at the moon, the bright yet sinister light she knew vampires actually liked but every light had light and every light was disturbing to vampires.
,,So you call it madness even though you know the truth," he replied, following her gaze before she suddenly opened her parasol and gave him an inviting look. She saw his semblance of a smile before he stood under her umbrella with her, knowing by this gesture what it meant.
Before he gave her an almost gentle rewarding kiss on the top of her head she didn't flinch as she usually did, allowing his touch for a moment before she latched onto him.
Enjoying the stillness that the night brought and the madness that seemed to slowly take over her seemed inviting all at once knowing that he was with her. That Shu would protect her, that he could at least give her love in her so damned life. If it meant being his Kianna knew that she would survive this pain too. She had done so all her life.
For a while I was thinking that DL Ghouls were not immortal, they just had more extended lives than humans since they couldn't die naturally (like from diseases, given the place they live in); even though they are weaker than the rest of demons.
But thinking about it... considering that Kino is older than almost everyone, only being younger than Carla, and that Yuuri, his Ghoul assistant, has been with him this whole time... from his childhood when they were raised together, to the present when Kino is out of control going batshit with all clans—
Leads me to think, how old is Yuuri?
It was said that Yui tends to refer to Yuuri as 'man' and Kino as 'boy' when she points them out in LE, so Yuuri seems to be visibly older than Kino. Which I expected, but now my view on Ghouls and their life expectation has changed...
HIS VERY OWN
Tumblr media
Some time had passed since Eve chose her Adam. Komori Yui and Sakamaki Shu were now trying to have a serious relationship. Thus the task of the Mukami family was fulfilled and there was no longer a reason for Mukami Ruki to tempt Eve. However, by order of Sakamaki Karlheinz, the Mukamis were to remain in Kaminashi City and continue to attend school. Ruki was not happy with this and suffered from boredom.
At the beginning of April, Tsukino Yuriko moved from Kyoto to Kaminashi City. On her first day of school, she went to the school library before classes, looking for interesting books. Lost in thoughts, she suddenly stumbled into someone. That someone was none other than Mukami Ruki.
Of course, Yuriko immediately excused. But Ruki reacted rudely and arrogantly, calling her a clumsy livestock. Intimidated and annoyed, Yuriko cursed in her mind, but was unable to speak her thoughts aloud. Instead, she tried to make Ruki friendly again with another apology. Unfortunately her attempt failed.
Ruki's sadistic side broke through and he was amused by the scared woman. Due to her reaction the vampire decided to play a game and chose Yuriko as his new prey. Pushing her against a bookshelf, Ruki messed with her. The sadist enjoyed how the fear inside her grew.
Fortunately for Yuriko, the school bell ended the mental torture. As if nothing had happened, Ruki turned around and disappeared. Stunned by the incident in the library and with trembling legs, Yuriko dragged herself to the classroom. Once there, she had to find out that Ruki was one of her new classmates.
Tumblr media
Yuriko's admin (@yuriko-mukami) and I (@ruki-mukami-dl) have been writing Yuriko's and Ruki's story since January 2022. Due to the roleplay writing style and the enormous length/word count, we decided to keep the original writing private. However, we wanted to give you an insight into Rukiko's world and will now gradually post summaries of His Very Own. We are still continuing the story and hope that we can do this for a long time. Enjoy reading~
It's easy to be entranced.
A story begins with a "once upon a time", and this story is no different. Once upon a time, there was a woman. A woman who would cast away everything, down to her humanity.
---
Azar,
I am sorry that you no longer feel comfortable around me, though I may not know the reason why. You are the only man I have ever loved, and I hope you will be happy. Forever.
--Yours, Viola
---
No one saw her leave her house. Her belongings had been abandoned. Dr. Eclez inquired after her, yet no response came from his students.
Once a missing person report was issued, her face was found by chance, as a peculiar photographer had caught sight of her entering a mansion known well for its ominous presence.
"Huh?" is the intelligent sound that resounds from Viola's throat as she stares into the magenta eyes of the man currently standing over her, his face eclipsing the little light the room affords. His dark hair burns at the edges.
"Honestly... for you to collapse so willingly. You're truly pathetic."
"...yeah," she agrees, playing with her hands. "Who are you?"
"You've forgotten again?" the male lays his shoe on her bloody hand, brutally crushing it against the polished wooden floor. She cries in silence. "Listen closely with those incompetent ears. My name is Sakamaki Reiji. You are my servant, and you will do as I ask. Do you recall your position now?"
Viola silently nods, turning her eyes away from Reiji's.
2
Blue ceramic laid scattered on the floor between two pairs of feet, jagged edges glinting in the cool light of Reiji's office. It was not an important cup, yet it was part of his collection.
Though she knelt to pick up the pieces, Reiji was faster as he grabbed her by the wrist, almost taking her shoulder straight out of its socket. He looked at her with irritation while she looked at him in hopelessness.
Wordlessly, he dragged her into the basement and made a point of explaining in excruciating detail what every torture device was used for before asking her which one she would prefer.
She surprised him, despite looking so sick that he imagined she would vomit at any second.
"The branding iron," she said hollowly, pointing at a long piece of metal fitted with an older version of the Sakamaki crest, one that had been used on cattle to be offered to desperate men looking to sacrifice their daughters.
Reiji hesitated. She might die of shock---it crossed his mind, though he waved away the thought. It didn't matter, after all.
White-hot iron met the white skin of Viola's tender back, and the screams ripped through the manor. The blood on her back popped and cracked as she collapsed.
3
"Viola, you... You really can't see, can you?" Reiji asked, having noticed she was fumbling around for walls as she stumbled in search of his voice. She shook her head. "Your eyes should be fine."
He stands and walks closer to her, quickly finding that her eyes aren't following him as he moves. When had she lost her vision? He had noticed that she had been stumbling more often lately, but for it to be gone entirely?
She stepped towards him and patted his shoulder as her balance wavered, her hand clutching Reiji with feeble, bony fingers. It was only at that point that he remembered she had been denying food since the moment he offered it to her. She was truly weak. Emaciated. Had his servant become like this in his negligence?
"Come," he said, and she latched onto his sleeve as he brought her into the dining room. "It's time you ate. I can't have you starve to death simply because I forgot."
She let go of his sleeve, making Reiji turn to look at her. She said nothing.
"Come," Reiji repeated, much more harshly, and she eventually resumed holding his sleeve until he put her into a chair and cooked for her.
She sobbed between bites.
Under this damn contract
Tumblr media
Summary: Ariadna was just your average college student that suddenly found herself in a tight situation: she woke up inside her favorite novel! Well, isn’t that nice~? WRONG! She reincarnated as a support character whose fate is to end up dead, victim of the novel’s villain Kino, who’s thirst for blood and power makes him extremely dangerous! Right now, she’s one year ahead from the tragedy so Ariadna’s only choice is to find a way to survive. Ari must do anything in her power in order to avoid the destiny that was given to her. The question now is: will she make it?
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, […]
Chapter 8: Playing with fire.
Mun Ari: One piece of advice: Do.not.write.anything.without.prior.planification!! I made these mistakes so YOU don’t make them! I wonder if it is only me though… meh! Anyway! I want to thank you for your patience while waiting for my brain to come up with a good idea on how to proceed with the story. I hope it won’t disappoint ^^.
Anyway, enjoy!
Ari finished making her order to the kind waitress and soon she left to prepare it. Ari sat by her favorite spot at the cafe in Sutzig city, waiting patiently for her guest to arrive.
“Ari!” She heard someone calling her. Ari raised her eyes and soon Naomi made her way through the restaurant until she sat across from Ari’s chair.
“I’m so happy you made it Naomi!” Ari said cheerfully “It’s been a while since we could hang out together!”
“I agree, it’s such a shame…” Naomi sighed.
Ari felt guilty, after all she couldn’t keep in touch as much as she could due to her new “social life”. Yet, she hoped Naomi wouldn’t know about that.
“I would like to offer you an apology regarding this” Naomi interrupted Ari’s thoughts.
“You? Why?” Ari questioned her.
Naomi left a tired sigh.
“The truth is I’ve been very busy within my responsibilities to be able to send you letters” Naomi replied.
“Is that so… then it couldn’t be helped. Please don’t worry about it” Ari tried to comfort her.
“Still, I would like to apologize. Please accept them” Naomi insisted.
“Very well~”.
There was a tiny pause between them.
“You won’t ask about the things that have kept me busy?” Naomi inquired.
“I mean… I suppose that they are confidential topics that I shouldn’t know” Ari replied, confused.
“You’re right but, aren’t you curious?”
“I-I would be lying if I said I wasn’t” Ari admitted “But I think it is not correct for me to ask”.
Naomi smiled.
“You’re so honest and correct~” Noami praised Ari “Yet, it could help me to sort out my thoughts by talking it out with you”.
“Why me?”
“You’re my friend and I trust you”.
Ari felt touched by Naomi’s words and simply smiled.
Naomi left a tired sigh and soon started talking.
“Remember what I told you about the Eagle clan job regarding the barrier? Also regarding the towers that surround our kingdom so that the barrier reaches every place in our empire?”
"Yes, I remember," Ari said.
“However, the situation hasn’t been ideal. Just recently, the fluctuations have been more recurrent and are becoming a serious matter for us”.
(Wait! If the barrier comes from KarlHeinz, then…!) Ari’s eyes opened in realization. (Doesn’t this mean that these fluctuations means that his health is deteriorating!?).
“We have no way to know what exactly is causing this, but I hope it gets fixed soon. In the meantime, we have already asked for reinforcements” Naomi concluded.
(Then no one must be aware of this fact!!) Ari got worried.
Naomi noticed that Ari’s expression on her face. Naomi smiled, as she spoke.
“Don’t worry Ari. I assure you that with some more magicians the barrier will be restored in no time. We are fully prepared to whatever emergency that may arise in the future, so worry not~”
Ari smiled, but deep down she knew better that that wouldn’t be true.
(Now that I think about it, in the novel no one spoke about these incidents) Ari thought (These were subtable signs from KarlHeinz’s health slowly declining and no one seemed to notice or link these fluctuations with him. The barriers will cease to exist when KarlHeinz dies in Autumn… as well as Iberitia and everyone living there… even myself).
But she knew better than she had no way to tell Naomi that as she had no proof and probably thought of her as some lunatic.
“I hope so too Naomi” Ari finally stated.
“Let’s change to a more pleasant subject, shall we~?” Naomi said cheerfully “How have you been? Is there anything you’d like to tell me?”
“Not really. I’m doing well” Ari said as she took a sip of her tea.
“Really~? Is there really anything you’d like to tell me~?” Naomi said while taking her tea as well “Then I must have heard wrong since I heard you were having quite a social life~”
Ari shrugged.
“Oh, that? They’re exaggerating~” she lied “Just a couple of parties or reunions here and there~” Ari then took another sip.
“Really~? Then, how is it that I heard you have been accompanying certain young man to these ‘occasional’ gatherings~?”
Ari almost choked on her tea. She coughed and cleaned her mouth as she tried to recover.
“Y-You knew!?” Ari asked. “I thought you d-didn’t care about listening to rumors”.
“I usually don’t care about them as I believe they are a waste of time” Naomi agreed. “However… when my friend’s name was mentioned I couldn’t ignore them”.
Ari tensed.
“I had really hoped you hadn’t listened to them… at least this time” Ari admitted.
“Rumors fly and it was a matter of time before I knew” Naomi shrugged.
Ari gulped discreetly, she had to come up with an excuse for Naomi to lose interest and let it be.
“The duke Kino from Rottisen, huh?” Naomi said and after a brief pause she spoke again “I don’t like him”.
Ari opened her eyes in awe. Naomi had never openly expressed a dislike towards someone. She could guess so by the way she interacted with them, but everything kept being respectful.
“H-How so? Do you know him by any chance? Ari asked.
(If Naomi knew something, maybe I can use that to my advantage!).
“That’s my point: I have never heard of him before” Naomi replied “And that makes me doubt him. Ari, due to my position, I know every single member of the nobility. They are part of my responsibilities as I have to interact with them at some point, therefore I have to know about them to maintain diplomatic relationships. Not just nobles here in the Makai, but I also know the most important members of the foreign nobility. Yet, I’ve never heard of the existence of the duke of Rottissen”.
Ari didn’t know what to say. If she dared to say something wrong, Naomi could know about Kino’s secret identity and complicate things more. She had to cover up for Kino.
“Is he your lover by any chance?” Naomi interrupted Ari’s thoughts.
“I-I! W-Well! I-I mean! We are still getting to know each other!” Ari said blushing.
(I wish I could explain to her the type of situation I’m stuck in…) Ari thought ashamed.
(For what I learnt, here in the world of the novel something as ‘boyfriend’ doesn’t exist. Apparently, the closest to it would be ‘lover’, but having that title means a step closer to becoming a fiance!).
Naomi looked at Ari and left her tea cup on the table.
“I don’t like it…” she repeated.
“Y-You don’t have to worry about it Naomi!”
Naomi sighed.
“I would have preferred you to go out with someone I knew. That way I could have given you useful advice in order for you to make a good decision. For example, if you had chosen Sir Tersul… Sure, he looks like a gentleman, but he’s addicted to gambling. Or maybe if you had chosen his highness the fifth prince, I would have warned you about his famous whereabouts with various ladies. Something as fidelity isn’t in his vocabulary…”
Ari giggled, yet Naomi went serious.
“Yet his grace… I know nothing. It makes me feel uneasy”.
Ari felt moved, having such a great friend like Naomi moved her heart deeply. Naomi was never mentioned in the novel, so Ari suspected she wasn’t someone of importance and most likely ended up as Kino’s victim at some point in the novel. Although she greatly appreciated her, she had to keep her as far as she could from all this issue… to keep her safe.
“Don’t worry Naomi… I mean it when I tell you I’m fine” Ari smiled at her.
Naomi sighed once again.
“I trust your intuition, so I’ll respect your decision and won’t push it further. Still, I would like to advise you to be careful with his grace. Since no one seems to know about him, I can only offer you this much advice”.
Ari nodded and so they changed the topic.
Some time later, they finally said their goodbyes and parted in different directions.
As Naomi had just entered her carriage, it started moving. Naomi was deep in thought regarding the conversation she had today with Ariadna.
(Duke Kino from Rottisen, huh? Sounds fishy…) Naomi thought seriously (Besides… Why does that land’s name sound familiar? I’ll have to look into this further…)
Soon she heard a light knock by her window. She opened it and one of her soldiers looked at her with urgency.
“I’m sorry ma’am, but your presence is urgently required back to the Eagle territory” the soldier said “The barrier is going through a new fluctuation right now”.
Naomi opened her eyes, surprised.
“What? But it stabilized just hours ago!” Naomi exclaimed.
“The messenger just came to inform us ma’am” the soldier replied.
“Very well. Then let us hurry back, we’ll use a magic portal to arrive as soon as possible. Hurry everyone!” Naomi ordered and all her soldiers went back to work.
Naomi sighed.
(This can’t be normal. If this continues there’s no way we can keep it a secret much longer. And we haven’t received any reply yet from the imperial palace. Just what is going on?) Naomi thought as her carriage hurried. (I need to take care of this before anything else. I’ll need to put Ari's situation on hold. I hope I’m wrong about it and not to worry Ari unnecessary).
Naomi’s carriage took the magic portal and soon vanished, taking their preoccupations with them.
Tumblr media
As Ari was getting ready for the party she was heading out to, she kept thinking about her conversation with Naomi the previous day.
(There’s no doubt that these fluctuations are signs that KarlHeinz’s weakening by the day. At this point, the story will follow its original curse) Ari thought as Mia was styling her hair by her mirror (We are just 2 months away from the Star’s festival and therefore the prediction of the oracle…).
“All done my lady! You look stunning!” Mia exclaimed.
“Thank you Mia,” Ari said as she rose.
She headed to the carriage waiting for her by the entrance of her home. Once inside, it made its way to her already designated encounter point with Kino. When she arrived and both made their way to the party, silence always prevailed. It was clear that they took the ‘business only’ by heart. Ari sighed at the uncomfortable atmosphere between them. She had tried to start a conversation with him several times before, but they had died soon after they had started. It was clear that Kino refused to speak beyond the necessary… not to mention he wouldn’t speak about his plans at all with her.
(He’s unapproachable. He’s also very cautions around me and he doesn’t trust me at all) Ari thought gazing at him from across her seat, while he was looking out the window (If I could only know what he’s looking for at the moment and I managed to get it for him…. then I could have some chance to get him to trust me).
The carriage stopped and both descended.
(I need to find out what: it can be information or maybe an object or maybe getting closer to a specific noble… if I manage to get it for him first! He might think of me as useful!).
They entered as they were announced. Soon Ari felt the guest’s stares and somehow she had gotten used to them at some point. They walked together and slowly they were greeted by various guests.
(I guess I have to start by sticking with him at all times to find it out) Ari thought.
Yet, at some point, as she was greeting some ladies that greeted her, she lost sight of Kino. Ari made her best effort to be by his side, yet he sneaked somehow every time. At some point, Ari ended up by herself by the dance floor.
(I can’t believe it! Is he doing it on purpose!? Why can't I remain by his side!?) Ari thought frustrated, looking everywhere for Kino. (He’s a sneaky jerk! Like a hummingbird flying at high speed from flower to flower! I can’t keep up with him!).
Ari’s eyes couldn’t find him anywhere. In late parties, he would leave her by herself and disappear not to be found by her until the end of the party or after some hours if she was lucky.
(If this keeps happening! I won’t make any progress at this rate!) Ari groaned, still looking around. Suddenly, she felt someone touch her shoulder making her go back to her senses.
“Lady Ariadna! It’s been a while!” a group of young ladies she had met at Lady Mindel’s party, Lady Shabel being one of them.
“Oh my~! You’re right! How have you all been?” Ari asked them.
(Oh dear, what a bad timing…) Ari thought as she smiled at them.
“It’s a pleasure to have encountered my lady!” lady Shabel exclaimed.
“The pleasure is all mine,” Ari said, and started talking about meaningless things.
Although Ari was secretly looking around for Kino and as soon as she would spot him she’ll excuse herself to go directly to him.
At a certain point, the music changed and all the ladies started leaving in search of a partner to dance or being asked to dance by a brave gentleman. In the end, lady Shabel, a lady called Linda and Ari remained with no one asking them to join them for a dance.
“Where is his grace, my lady?” Lady Linda asked curiously “I thought he would come to take you for a dance by now”.
“A-Ah! His Grace had some business to attend with other guests at the party and had to retire for a while” Ari invented an excuse.
“Oh! If it was for work, it can’t be helped~” Lady Shabel replied understandingly.
“I agree. Sometimes my father would take the opportunity to make business at gatherings such as this one” Lady Linda agreed.
Ari thanked they believed her lie, while she kept looking around for him. Yet when she laid her eyes on the dance floor, she forgot her search for Kino as she focused on the dancing couples. They swung around in sync with the music, somehow they were so coordinated that Ari thought of those movies back on her world replicating a ball like the one she was seeing herself. They all danced like they were professional dancers with a lot of practice for the big event. Ari always felt her heart beating fast with emotion at those scenes, but seeing it with her own eyes felt surreal. Since she was little, things like balls, dresses, princesses and anything related made her wish she was there. Even in the tight situation she found herself in, she wished she could join them… everytime.
(Even if I was asked to dance I don’t know how to do it. Maybe the original Ariadna knew as she was a noble since birth, but not me. I can’t risk making a fool of myself) Ari thought, yet her eyes never left the dance floor. (Besides, if I happen to dance with someone else, I can make Kino angry with me).
The dance piece came to an end and a round of applause followed. Ari resumed looking for Kino, but got distracted by a sudden commotion on her surroundings.
“Oh my! Could it be…?” someone said.
“I don’t believe it!” someone else said.
“What is she doing here?” Lady Linda asked incredulously.
“I never thought someone like her would attend an event like this,” Lady Shabel added.
Ari followed their direction and by the entrance she saw that a new guest arrived at the party.
A beautiful lady was slowly descending the long stair by the entrance. Her long straight hair looked like strands of gold fluttering behind her. She was wearing a deep wine dress, richly decorated with details in black. When she arrived at the bottom of the stairs, she made a little bow with her head to viscount and viscountess Weiter, the hosts of the party, that were there. They reciprocated as they thanked her for joining them. She nodded and focused once again to the rest of the party and slowly made her way through them. They moved aside as she walked, somehow intimidated by her mere presence.
“I’m shocked she’s here” Lady Linda commented, her voice almost a whisper.
“I agree. This isn’t the type of party she would attend” Lady Shabel agreed with lady Linda as well in a whisper.
“Who is she?” Ari said, realizing late that she thought it out loud.
“You don’t know who she is, Lady Ariadna!?” both ladies exclaimed looking at Ari surprised.
Before allowing her to answer, Lady Linda spoke.
“She’s her Grace Sabine Tachihara! The heiress from the Vibora clan!”
“Not to mention she’s currently the one that leads all trends in the empire. Whatever she wears or says is for sure turning into the next trend in the coming days”. Lady Shabel added.
“Everyone wishes to be part of her group or at least be on her good side. If someone dares to offend her or making her angry, it will be a social suicide! She can turn everyone against that person and it would be almost impossible to recover from it”.
Ari looked at Sabine as she kept walking. She passed exactly in front of Ari and the ladies and for a fraction of a second, Sabine seemed to look towards her direction and Ari could have sworn her eyes seemed cold and almost hateful. Was she looking at her? Did she imagine it?
Sabine kept walking across the center of the ballroom.
“Oh dear…” Ari heard Lady Shabel mutter and Ari looked towards the direction she was looking.
As people were moving away from her, someone didn’t move. Ari opened her eyes, surprised that that somebody was Kino. He was distracted by a conversation he was having with a man Ari didn’t recognize. Ari also saw that man looked behind Kino and closed his mouth in astonishment. Kino must have wondered the reason for that behavior and finally turned around to find himself face to face with Sabine that was forced to stop by this. They both look at each other, like analyzing each other. They looked like two beasts measuring their strengths. Everyone at the ball seemed to stop breathing, Ari could hear some worried whisperings around her wondering what would happen next. Some whispers claimed that Kino was being reckless by not moving aside on time, while others wondered what yould be Sabine’s next move.
After what seemed like an eternity, they simply smiled at each other and bowed at each other.
“Your grace” she greeted him.
“Your grace” he reciprocated.
Everyone was astonished and Ari could guess Kino achieved something big.
“I finally have the pleasure to make your acquaintance your grace” Sabine continued.
“The pleasure is all mine” Kino gave her a charming smile.
“I look forward to having a conversation with your grace in the near future” with another bow Sabine walked past Kino and continued her way.
As soon as Sabine disappeared, everyone seemed like they were holding their breath and finally were allowed to breathe. Soon whispers could be heard everywhere, but Kino was unbothered and resumed his conversation with the gentlemen around him that joined him once again, but Ari could tell they were somehow more lively after what had happened, most likely proud from Kino’s achievement.
“Her mere presence is intimidating” Lady Linda commented.
“I can see that…” Ari said, but was more impressed as to how Kino handled it. (It felt like a scene from Mean girls if you ask me) Ari laughed internally.
“I still can’t think of a good reason as to why her grace would attend a party like this one” Lady Shabel said.
“Whatever the reason she might have had… I’m so glad I came as well! Is it better to experience it than to hear about it, don’t you think?” Lady Linda replied excitedly.
“I agree! The rest of the ladies will be so jealous when they hear about~! I can't wait for our next gathering!” Lady Shabel agreed.
Yet Ari remembered that stare Sabine had given her. She also wasn’t quite sure if she had to admire Kino’s nerves of steel or question Kino’s sanity. In any case, she had to find him, she couldn’t go home like she always had with no progress on her plan… or any plan she had made anyway.
She excused herself and went to find Kino, only to spot him just in time taking some stairs open to the guests to the second floor. She hurried after him and when she arrived to the second floor, she lost sight of him. The second floor merely consisted of a huge corridor with an incredible set of large window-like doors that led to small balconies for guests to use for a brief pause to have some fresh air. Something that just made sense since Ari well knew that viscount and viscountess Weiter enjoyed hosting various parties every couple of weeks. As an introvert herself, she thanked having somewhere to escape to when she felt like charging her “social battery”. As Ari walked looking for Kino, she heard some noises coming from the last of the balconies on the right side of the hall. She peaked and found Kino, but she discovered Kino wasn’t alone: Sabine was with him.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, your grace, I’m glad to have encountered you this evening” Ari heard Sabine said.
“Heh? And what is that I perhaps owe the pleasure for her grace to look forward to have a word with me?” Kino replied.
“Rumors spread fast and wide in this empire, it was a matter of time for me to hear about you. I must say that what I heard has picked my interest”.
(Then what the ladies said is true!) Ari thought surprised (If she’s aware of Kino’s existence our rumors have made it to the higher circles).
“I have to say that it is quite an honor to have caught the interest of a lady such as her grace,” Kino replied, clearly satisfied.
“Is not something easy to achieve, considering that I’m hard to impress”.
“I wonder what I can do for her grace to keep her interest longer”.
(Could it be that Sabine is interested in Kino in a flirty way?) Ari wondered (I mean, she isn’t really the first, but a duchess as Sabine!? Was this a thing in the novel? I can’t remember–).
“Lady Koizumi?” a nearby voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Y-Yes!?” Ari jumped and turned to look around to find Viscount Weiter in front of her.
“I’m terribly sorry to startle you my lady” he apologized with a sympathetic chuckle for Ari’s reaction.
“N-Not at all my lord!” Ari quickly composed herself and bowed to greet him “I was simply distracted”.
“I see” the Viscount replied “Are you enjoying the party my lady?”
“Oh! Definitely! The selection of music and the decorations are wonderful! It’s clear that everything was planned with the utmost care!” Ari praised.
“I’ll let my wife know your thoughts, my lady. I’m glad it was of your liking”
“Please do, my lord. Plus your hospitality has played a great part as well!”
“You’re so very kind, my lady” Viscount Weiter said with a pleased smile “I was actually looking for his Grace, have you perhaps seen it?”
Ari paid extra attention to his words.
“Did something happen?”
“Nothing to worry, at least not as far as I'm concerned” he said “Is simply that he asked for a moment to have a word with me and is just until now that I’m finished greeting all guests that I can spare him some time”.
“I see!”
(This is my chance!) Ari thought.
“I thought you might know as his partner where could he be”
“As a matter of fact, I do know where to find him, my lord!” she answered “I’ll go and tell him myself, so if you'd like you can wait for him in one of the balconies and I tell him to go and find you”. Ari replied.
“Wonderful! Then, tell his grace I’ll be waiting on the last balcony on the other end of the hall for more privacy”.
“Sure! Meanwhile, my lord should use this time to have some fresh air himself while waiting!”
“What a great idea! You’re so kind, my lady” Viscount Weiter said and turned around and left.
Ari turned around as well and, after a deep breath, lightly knocked on the balcony’s door where they kept talking. After a brief pause, she entered.
“Excuse me…Oh! Your graces! I hope I’m not interrupting!” Ari faked surprise as she entered.
“Not at all~” Kino replied, but Ari had a glimpse of Sabine’s face to notice she wasn’t happy with her interruption “Were you looking for me?”
“I was, thankfully a servant saw you coming here and I was able to find you” Ari replied.
“Did you need something?” Kino asked.
“Actually, I came to tell you that Viscount Weiter is free now and is waiting for you in the balcony by the end of the hall”
“Ah~, then I can’t keep him waiting. If you’ll excuse me~”.
Kino left, leaving Ari and Sabine. Ari looked at her and felt the sudden change of the atmosphere. Sabine opened a fan to cover her face, not allowing Ari to read her expressions any longer.
(Kino you jerk, you didn’t introduce me to her!) Ari thought annoyed.
“Allow me to introduce myself with your grace: my name is Lady Ariadna Koizumi, youngest member of the Koizumi family” Ari introduced herself as she was of lower rank between them.
Sabine nodded. Ari felt uncomfortable in the awkward situation before her. After what felt like a long time, she spoke:
“I’ve heard about you”.
(You could have said so sooner!) Ari thought. (Ugh… This is so awkward! I want to leave!).
“It’s an honor, I hope only good things!” Ari tried to joke.
“Maybe…” Sabine answered coldly “but that doesn’t change the fact that is… annoying”.
Ari opened her eyes in surprise, taken aback by her words.
(Did I hear right?)
Ari could only look at her confused, but Sabine simply started walking towards the entrance behind her.
“If you’ll excuse me” and with that Sabine left.
Ari stayed there even after a couple of minutes trying to process what had happened.
(What was that!? Did I do something wrong? What did she mean by that?) Ari then felt angry (So the look she gave me before wasn’t my imagination!)
Ari took a deep breath and let it go.
(You won’t always be liked by other people… maybe she was just not in a good mood?) Ari said as she shrugged (Besides, I have other things to worry about).
Ari then entered the mansion and went directly to the other end of the hall where some gentlemen were having a private conversation.
(I have to find out what Kino is after. I need to try to be a step ahead of him!) Ari thought as she hurried.
As she approached the balcony silently, she listened as both gentlemen chatted.
“I’m afraid that as much as I would like to help his grace, I’m unable to do so” she heard viscount Weiter said.
“It’s hard for me to believe it, as you are well informed in all the affairs regarding the internal market,” Kino said.
Ari really didn’t have the background of their conversation, but kept listening.
“Is true, but what his grace is asking is beyond my capabilities. Rather than involving the market, I think that’s a topic more fitable for politics'’.
“Not even if I double the current offer?”
There was a brief pause, clearly Viscount Weiter was contemplating the offer.
“Something as offering such a large supply of magical weapons… enough to fully equip the Imperial Army: Are you saying that your land has a higher production capacity than the North Kingdom?”
Ari gulped.
(If Viscount Weiter knew that, in fact, Kino does have that capacity…) Ari thought, remembering the events of the novel.
Viscount Weiter sighed and the sound of footsteps was heard closer to the entrance.
“I seriously can’t help you, your Grace” Viscount said “You have great talent, I’ve heard of it and I’ve seen proof of it just now. If you continue like that you’ll have a bright future ahead. However, I don’t possess the resources or contacts to provide you with the information you need. My sincere apologies, I hope you find what you’re looking for”.
“It can’t be helped then” Kino concluded “Thank you for your time then”.
“We can sign the contract another day,” Viscount said. “However, with the original offer only”.
“You can keep the second offer, it doesn’t make a difference anyway”.
“There’s no need, the double offer was in case I could be of any help. I won’t rest if I take advantage of his grace. Now if you’ll excuse me”.
Ari heard those footsteps again, so she hid behind some curtains and waited until she was sure the Viscount was gone.
As she left her hideout, she heard Kino grunted, clearly angry that things didn’t go as we wanted.
“What a waste of time” Kino dropped the kind act “How is it possible for a business man like him not to know anything regarding the north border?”
(The north border? Could it be…?)
Kino took a deep breath and spoke in a serious tone:
“I know you’re there”.
(Dammit!) she thought, entering the balcony.
“Well, if it isn’t you~” Kino spoke mockingly “Bad habits die hard, I see~”.
“It wasn’t my intention” Ari replied apologetically.
“May I remind you that this habit of yours got you in this situation to begin with~?”
“I know”.
Standing next to each other, they saw far in the distance.
“So, how much did you listen?” Kino inquired.
“J-Just the last part” Ari replied.
“Great, just great” Kino sighed exasperated. “Just forget you heard anything”.
“I-Is there any way I can help?” Ari dared to ask.
“Another bad habit of yours: minding in other’s business. No, you can’t help” Kino turned around with the intention to leave.
Ari grasped on the balcony concrete trying to calm herself.
(I have to try something! I need to try to cross that line he’s putting between us, otherwise I won’t be able to make it!) Ari thought desperately (Those that don’t risk, don’t win!)
“I-Is pretty hard to introduce products into the Makai right?” Ari finally said nervously “Let alone cross the border… Well, or so I-I heard”.
She heard Kino’s footsteps stop. Ari dared to turn her head and saw he had turned his head around.
“What?”
“Y-Yes, after all the Makai is p-protected from external t-threats” she proceeded carefully “Is specially though in the northern barrier”.
“And that is…?” he inquired.
Ari was a nervous wreck, she had to keep going.
“T-The magic barrier of course” she declared. “It was made purely with the purpose to protect our empire”.
“You are telling me nothing new” Kino finally said and was about to leave when Ari once again said.
“Security these days has increased considerably, don’t you think?”
“Security has always been strong”.
“But you know the reason behind it?”
Kino squinted his eyes, not really answering which Ari could dare to think she had guessed it.
“Are you suggesting you know it?” Kino said in a mocking way.
“I do, in fact, know” Ari answered to his remark, sarcasm in her tone.
“I doubt it~” Kino shrugged, “so far, I have eyes and ears set on the north barrier, the reason behind it is confidential, someone as you knowing is…”
“Then, I suppose you already know about the fluctuations of the barrier” Ari finally said, somehow annoyed that Kino kept underestimating her.
Kino’s eyes opened so slightly.
“Fluctuations? In the barrier? That’s impossible” Kino said “That would mean the Makai is vulnerable to an attack any time a fluctuation lasts long enough for an army to invade”.
“Why do you think it has been kept as a secret or at least to just a few?” Ari questioned.
Kino went silent for a minute.
(Bingo! So there was something Kino didn’t know!) Ari thought satisfied.
“Fluctuations can be fixed sooner or later, even if what you said sure is interesting… doesn't make any much of a difference to me" Kino concluded to which Ari felt disappointed.
But backing off… wasn't an option anymore.
"That’s a shame really, you seem to go after big things"
"Which I deduce you can’t provide. Such a shame, better luck next time~"
"But, what if the fluctuations meant something bigger?"
Ari had his full attention and Ari had to place everything on the bet if she wanted to make a change.
"Bigger as?"
"Do you know where exactly the barrier comes from?"
"The towers" Kino answered with no hesitation "they are spread wide in the Makai"
"True, but not quite" Ari said "they amplify the magic so it covers the Makai as a whole”.
“I can hardly believe that” Kino replied “The towers must have a source of its own to produce enough magic to cover just a fraction of the land and where that ends the other tower close by would cover the next part and so on”.
“I understand your logic, but here in the Empire it is possible” Ari answered calmly. “The source is what really matters".
“Are you suggesting that something so powerful exists that is only required one of its kind to sustain the whole Empire and even better to be kept in only one place?”
"Actually, rather than imagining something… you should be thinking of someone".
"The source comes from someone and not something?"
Ari could tell Kino was confused, she had nailed what kind of information he was really after. It was understandable that it was something hard to believe, it was hard for her as well at first. However, everything made sense… at least for her with what she knew from the novel. She was given an advantage and she had to use it wisely.
"Magic reflects the state in which the porter is at. Can you imagine the severity of the situation?"
Kino was silent, Ari was expectantly waiting.
After what felt like forever, Kino spoke in a serious tone.
"Who is it? Who is producing all the magic enough to protect an empire and for it to only be distributed by the towers?"
Ari looked calmly at him, although she was a nervous wreck on the inside. It was time to use what she knew in her favor and assume the consequences that would come with them.
"No other than his Majesty the Emperor KarlHeinz".
Mun Ari: Wahhh it has been so long! I'm sorry for the delay! Honestly? The past months were so hectic for me with all the things I had to take care of: college, finals, prom and not to mention the process of getting my title… and of course a special call out to my terrible✨️writer's block✨️. I literally had to stop, sit down and plan. I'm very satisfied and proud of this chapter! I can assure you that the next chapter will not disappoint! I hope you look forward to it! Also! Did you notice we have a cute official cover!? I love it! It has been a surprise I've been saving for a while now! I was dying to show it to you! I loved it! It makes this feel more real and serious!! I hope you look forward to the next update! Until then: thank you for reading!
Tumblr media
Warning(s): Unwanted pregnancy, postpartum depression, abandonment, abuse and divorce.
Tumblr media
The fact that Ayato and Romantic have such similar traumas I think is quite significant for their relationship, since both would never have opened up to each other if it hadn't been for the things they shared in common, they understood each other. I never really got around to talk about Romi's character and he is really quite elaborate although it may not seem like it❔ At first glance, so I'll do it right now❕ ♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ )
Tumblr media
Romi is an unwanted child of two young parents in Mexico; his mother, Natalie, had postpartum depression; and his father, Felipe, abandoned them for months. He being the older brother of two other sisters: Alejandra and Ofelia.
Natalie despised him greatly, always separating him from his sisters and putting Romantic aside; punishing him or even hitting him for playing with his toys or not doing his homework. They were short of money because his mother she had to drop out of school to raise her children, and his father, instead of going to work was going to waste his time in vices, so he was never present in the house.
Romantic had to watch how his parents fought every night while his sisters were sleeping, even hitting each other, until his father ended up leaving without saying where one night and in desperation to lose him, his mother get even worst; stopping feeding, dressing, bathing and neglecting her children, sleeping all day instead.
For this same reason, Romi felt the need to impose on himself goals and responsibilities that were not his ( and at his age ) to help his sisters advance in what their paternal grandparents took the custody of their three children, causing Natalie to flee to Spain as soon as she was ‘free’ again.
At the request of his parents, Felipe reappeared and took ‘care’ of his children for a time. He saw his children more as an obligation rather than loved ones, but for someone like Romi who had been mistreated by his mother, his father was like some❔ Kind of hero; clinging to him, defending him and creating false expectations of what Felipe really was.
Romantic couldn't understand why his parents couldn't be a ‘happy family’ when he was little, he received a lot of contempt from other children who did have their parents together, making him hate his mother for abandoning them, for her abuse, and above all, for having 'ruined' his perfect family he always wanted by running away.
Currently, Romi has forgiven both of his parents, especially his mother Natalie, for the mistakes they made. He already had a good relationship with her before going as an exchange student to Japan. (╯︵╰,) The bad thing is, Romantic has not been able to maintain a good connection with his family since he arrived at the Sakamaki Mansion, certainly because he fears that the brothers will forbid him to maintain some kind of relationship with them. Romantic loves his sisters and grandfathers even though he doesn't feel like he can see them again.
Rarely, Romantic goes outside to talk secretly on the street phone so he can only talk to the family. Only his mother and her sister Alejandra knew when he started dating Ayato, although he never confessed who he really was or his name. He said that Japan was a nice place and that perhaps he planned to stay in the country for life to study his career and that he has too much work at school to receive visits to reduce suspicion.
Ayato knows all this, he told him over time as they gained more trust and Romi feels comfortable doing so since he knows that he will keep the secret. ♡ I would like to say more, but that will be another time. ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯
♱ DIABOLIK LOVERS: Haunted Dark Bridal ー Sakamaki Ryuuto | After Story ♱
[ ✥ This Unlocks After Ryuuto’s Vampire (Good) Ending. ✥ ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⌜ Scene: Forest ⌟
ー There is a sound of horse footsteps. ー
Ryuuto: Woah, woah.
ー Ryuuto slows his horse. ー
Isn’t it thrilling, feeling the wind in your hair like this, trotting away?
…Hm?
Yui? Where on earth did you go?
ー Yui eventually emerges from behind him. ー
Yui: O-Ouch…
C-Can we go a little slower? My, err, behind is really s-sore from that “trocking”.
Ryuuto: “Trotting”, Pet. Although, slower, you say?
How can you expect to get any better if you don’t practise? Come along; Don’t fall too far behind now, we’re on the loop back toward the manor.
Yui: A-Ah, Ryuuto-san! Wait up!
I haven’t had much practise riding before, after all… And, this path…
It’s super rocky!
Ryuuto: Perhaps it was too ambitious an ask, going riding with you, then?
Yui: N-No, no…! I’m enjoying this, especially with you!
Ryuuto: In that case, what do you hope to achieve with complaining like that?
Yui: ( Uu… I guess that reaction couldn’t be helped. )
( After all, Ryuuto-san’s always been the sort of person to expect a thank you for even the most backhanded things… )
( But, I do appreciate taking me out today, regardless… Soーー )
Say, I didn’t tell you beforehand but…
Thank you for taking me for a horse ride today, Ryuuto-san!
Ryuuto: Hoh?Despite your endless critiques about it?
Yui: Fufu, yes…
Ryuuto: Well, the horses needed to stretch their legs, and Father was busy in his study… So, truthfully, that was the only reason I asked.
Although, it has become quite romantic with tonight’s beautiful sunset, hasn’t it?
Yui: Romantic…
( So he thought so too, with the view? )
I agree, it’s a lovely sight.
Ryuuto: With the way countless hues of pinks and orange melt together, it’s a scenery that would spark the creativity in any artist.
Yui: Fufu…
( Waah… Ryuuto-san’s quite cute when he’s all nerdy about art, like this. )
( The way his eyes glisten, and his eyebrows relax, when he’s enjoying himself… )
Ryuuto: In fact…
Yes, I think I shall.
Yui: …Eh? Did the view give you some inspiration?
Ryuuto: It most certainly has, inspiration to touch up a piece very dear to me.
Yui: Dear to you?
( I mean, I don’t want to get my hopes up but just recently he asked me to pose for him for a project in his studio… )
Oh, Ryuuto-san, that’s great!
( I wonder if he could actually be talking about that paintinーー )
Ryuuto: Isn’t it just? This ride is just what I needed to get my creativity flowing once more, for Mother and Father’s portrait.
Yui: H-Huh?
Ryuuto: Their portrait, in the entryway. You certainly know the one. It couldn’t hurt to give it a new lick of paint, coming into the new season, could it?
After all, how long has it been since I last touched it? My, my...
Yui: …Of course, how stupid of me…
Ryuuto: What was that?
Yui: A-Ah, nothing…
Ryuuto: Then, let us get moving, shall we?
After all, I think I want to make a start on that piece the moment we return home, whilst this scenery is fresh in my mind.
Yui: … …
( Even after all that’s happened, between Ryuuto-san and I… that horrible woman, she still manages to worm her way into his brain. )
( Cordelia… )
( I hate you! )
ー Yui suddenly tugs on her reigns, the horse whinnying. ー
Tumblr media
Huh…!?
ー The horse bucks her off suddenly. ー
Kyaaa!!
Ryuuto: …!!
ー Yui lands with a thump. ー
Yui: O-Ow...!!
Ryuuto: Woah, woah! What on earth happened?
ー Yui’s horse is calmed by Ryuuto. ー
Yui: I-It was my fault…
I th-think I pulled back on the reigns too hard…
Ryuuto: Tsk, that doesn’t surprise me… Father’s horse is quite the stubborn one; he certainly has an attitude much like his rider.
Yui: I-It was an accident…
( I guess I shouldn’t have let my feelings get the better of me… )
I-Is the horse okay?
Ryuuto: He’s fine, yes… Although, I can’t say the same for you.
You landed quite roughly by the sound of it.
ー She tries to stand. ー
Yui: O-Ouch…!
Ryuuto: Might you be able to put any pressure on it at all?
Yui: I d-don’t think so… It feels very sore…
Ryuuto: Perhaps you have managed to sprain it? In that caseーー
ー Ryuuto dismounts his horse, to pick her up. ー
ーーTo spare yourself anymore injuries, you’ll ride my horse with me. And, I’ll have my familiars lead Father’s horse behind us.
Yui: W-Wha…!
Ryuuto: I’ll only warn you this once, so don’t make me repeat myself, alright? Be sure not to wriggle about, in case you topple off again.
Tut, you’ve now turned our return trip into a twenty – rather than ten – minute one…
Not to mention how troublesome it will be to get you settled into bed, off this foot.
ー Ryuuto helps her up into the saddle, followed by himself. ー
You’re certainly lucky I am a patient artist, and a patient Master. Anybody else would just leave you here to make your own way back.
Now, hold on tight…
ー He urges the horse onwards. ー
Hyah.
 Yui: ( I-In a way… I’m glad I’m “troubling” Ryuuto-san somehow… )
( That means he’ll have less time in front of that painting. )
( Right…? )
ー Timeskip. ー
ー The scene picks up in Yui’s bedroom. ー
Ryuuto: This pillow here should keep your foot elevated nicely.
The servants should arrive in just a moment, with some ice and a bandage; You should be well taken care of if you keep off your feet.
Yui: You already sent for them?
Ryuuto: I didn’t. Although, they undoubtedly saw what state you were in when I carried you inside like a damsel in distress, no?
Yui: “D-Damsel in distress”…!?
W-Well, I did say that you didn’t need to carry me all the way to my room…!
Ryuuto: Just how would you have gotten upstairs, then?
Yui: Well… …
…Thank you, Ryuuto-san.
( I guess without him, it would have been a struggle up those stairs… )
…I’m sorry about the horse, too. I shouldn’t have pulled so hard…
Ryuuto: You’re still concerned about it?
Good grief, I told you it was expected; There’s no reason to dwell on it.
A stubborn horse, coupled with an incapable rider? I should have known it was a natural recipe for disaster.
Yui: I suppose you might be right…
Ryuuto: Haa… Honestly, Pet.
Only someone like you could wind up hurting themselves from such a silly accident.
So, you’re to stay here – in bed – until you can stand without help. If there is something you need, in the meantime, call for a servant.
Yui: E-Eh? By that, you mean… you won’t be staying?
Ryuuto: Who do you take me for, tending to you at your bedside?
I am your Master, not your nurse; Unless it is something urgent you need from myself, the servants are more than capable of assisting you.
ー Ryuuto stands from her bed. ー
After all, I told you I had some business to tend to. I can’t be expected to juggle that, alongside your recovery, can I?
That portrait won’t exactly paint itself.
Yui: Portrait…
ー Yui grasps onto his sleeve before he can leave. ー
W-Wait!
Ryuuto: Good grief… Out with it.
Yui: …My blood.
 I want you to suck my blood!
( So some reason, I want him to drink it, right now! Drink it, and reassure me that you want only me, Ryuuto-san… )
Ryuuto: Oh my, where on earth is this coming from?
Yui: Please…
Ryuuto: Fufu. When you’re pleading with me like that, how can I refuse?
Is this your idea of pain-relief, I wonder, Pet? Distracting yourself from your foot, by pleasuring yourself on my fangs?
Show your arm to me then… Let me taste you.
ー He bites her. ー
Yui: Ah!
Ryuuto: Nn…
Yui: ( …Maybe it is silly to be worried over someone who doesn’t exist anymore… )
… …
( But, in a way, she still lives on. )
Ryuuto: Hnn… What…
What is this?
Yui: ( In Ryuuto-san’s memory, in those portraits… )
( Despite choosing me… )
( Will I never be anything but second best, in the very end? )
Ryuuto: Hhng…
Ts…!
ー Suddenly, he pulls away from her. ー
Yui: ( That face… Why is he making such a sour expression…!? )
Ryuuto: …I think I’ve had more than enough from that small sample.
Yui: W-Wait…! Please, won’t you take some more?
Ryuuto: More? I don’t think so, I have no desire to drink any more from you... Something about your blood is… different, tonight.
I’ve never had injured prey taste so… off before.
Yui: “Off”?
What do you mean…?
( If Ryuuto-san doesn’t want to drink from someone with strange tasting blood, then… I really could turn out second-best, couldn’t I!? )
Ryuuto: It doesn’t taste right, is all I’ll say.
Perhaps it’s just the shock today’s fall took to your system, who can say? I’ll have the servants monitor your heartrate, as well, I think.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you to get settled.
Yui: …!!
Wait, could you test my blood one more time?
Ryuuto: I’ll test it after you get some rest, there is little point in ruining my appetite further.
Yui: But…
ー Ryuuto walks to the door. ー
Ryuuto: If I don’t make a start on this portrait, it will never get done. So, excuse me.
Yui: R-Ryuuto-san, wait!
Ryuuto: Hurry up and spit it out. What is it, now?
Yui: … …
( Nothing I say will get him to stay, will it? )
…It’s nothing.
Ryuuto: Very well, then.
Oh, and I suppose it should be common sense but, until I have finished with that portrait, my studio is off-limits to you, Pet.
I don’t want to risk you ruining my work with your snooping, is that clear?
Yui: …Got it.
Ryuuto: And, do remember what I said… Keep off that foot.
ー Ryuuto walks out, closing the door behind him. ー
…Uu…
Please don’t leave me.
Not for that woman. Not again…
ー Timeskip. ー
ー The scene changes to the hallway. ー
Yui: O-Ouch…
( Even though I should be resting this foot, I need to see Ryuuto-san. )
( Even if I have to lie a little to drag him away from that portrait, it will be worth it. )
Haa…
( …I never thought of myself as a jealous woman but… Something about Ryuuto-san’s persistence with that painting really irks me. )
( I wonder what he has been so eager to add to it, though? )
… …
Ah, finally!
( It feels like it’s taken forever to get to his room on this sore foot! )
( I know I should really knock but… )
 ー She tries the handle… and it swings open! ー
…!!
( It’s unlocked! And Ryuuto-san doesn’t seem to be inside… )
That must be the one! It’s covered up on the easel.
He’s left that portrait propped up, all alone…
… …
( I would never usually want to ruin anything he’s worked so hard on, but… )
( With no Ryuuto-san in sight… )
Now would be the perfect chance toーー
ー The door slams shut. ー
Ryuuto: To, what?
ー Suddenly Ryuuto appears. ー
Yui: Kyaaa!
Y-You spooked me, R-Ryuuto-san!
Ryuuto: Just what on earth are you doing, sneaking around like this? I thought I told you to keep off of your foot for a good while?
Yui: I… I, uhm…
Ryuuto: I thought I also told you that this place was off-limits?
Yui: I-I’m sorry, Ryuuto-san… I was just coming to look for you, is all.
Ryuuto: Tut. You’re doing yourself little favour, making your way here injured like that; You couldn’t have called for me via the servants?
Yui: I… err, I tried. But…
But, no one came when I called…! Yes, that’s right.
Ryuuto: …Hmm, is that so?
Yui: ( Phew, that was a close one… )
ー Ryuuto places down a few tins of paint. ー
Ryuuto: Well then, now that I’m here with my fresh supply of paint… out with it.
What did you need me for?
Yui: ( Great, now I really need to think of something worthwhile…! )
The reason was that, uhm…
Oh! I was beginning to get hungry… Yes, and I didn’t want to ask the servants for to get something; I thought I’d seek your… your permission, instead.
( Uu… Hopefully that sounded somewhat believable. )
Ryuuto: … …
Yui: S-So, there you have it!
Ryuuto: …Fufufu, what a strange woman you are.
I suppose you can’t help but seek your Master out when the position of “Pet” has become quite natural for you, hasn’t it?
Yui: ( H-He doesn’t need to put it so bluntly…! )
Ryuuto: If that’s really the case, then there will be no harm in whipping something up for you this once, I suppose.
Yui: Eh? Wait…
You’re going to make me something?
Ryuuto: Although I did explicitly state I’m no nurse, it would be heartless of me to actively ignore your request in your situation.
With this special care, you might even recover quicker, hm?
Yui: But, what about the…
( What am I saying? It’s a good thing he’s not insisting on the painting! )
I would be grateful if you did!
Ryuuto: Don’t expect this treatment on any other occasion, though.
Come, Pet… I shall carry you, so you don’t starve on your otherwise long way there.
ー There is a short timeskip. ー
ー The scene opens to the kitchen. ー
Ryuuto: Hmm, hmm…
ー Ryuuto is whisking something together. ー
A light, breakfast-style meal should be suitable enough. You hardly need a banquet when you are the only one eating, after all.
Yui: Mm, it smells delicious already!
Ryuuto: You should know very well that I hardly cook, myself. I’m only doing this out of the goodness of my heart since you’re unwell.
So, if you have any complaints… Do keep them to yourself.
ー He begins to serve the food. ー
Tumblr media
Yui: Fufu… got it, Ryuuto-san.
( I’m not too hungry to tell the truth but… )
( I can’t let it go to waste! Like Ryuuto-san said, he did go out of his way to make it for me. )
ー Ryuuto places down the plate for her. ー
Ryuuto: Here, a light meal as promised.
Yui: Uwah…!
( For someone who “hardly cooks”, it looks amaziーー )
…Fufu.
Ryuuto: …What are you giggling about?
Yui: Fufu… It’s a little burnt on the edges, Ryuuto-san.
Ryuuto: Ahem. “If you have any complaints”…
Yui: Keep them to myself! Sorry, fufu.
But, it still looks delicious! Thank you.
Ryuuto: Hmph. You are free to add your own seasoning.
Yui: Mhm! I’m digging in!
ー She begins to eat. ー
Ryuuto: How is it? More than enough?
Yui: Mm! More than enough.
( Maybe even a little too much to finish it all... )
Ryuuto: Good. Then, once finished, are you able to see yourself back to your room?
Be it, with the help of the servants or on your lonesome?
Yui: Eh? I suppose so.
Ryuuto: And, you won’t need anything else after this, will you?
I’ve barely started on that portrait tonight, after all, and I’d much rather ensure I’m certainly undisturbed whilst doing so.
Yui: ( Even now, all he’s thinking about is that painting…? )
…I’d rather you stay with me, though, Ryuuto-san.
Ryuuto: Oh my. Where has this sudden clinginess come from?
Yui: “C-Clinginess”? It’s not that that all…!
Ryuuto: Then, why ask that of me?
Yui: W-Well…
( I don’t want to admit it right out but… )
( Is this jealousy? )
Ryuuto: If you’re going to take your time with coming up with your answer, at least try to finish that meal in the meantime, won’t you?
Despite your enthusiasm, you’ve hardly touched it.
Yui: It’s…
It’s a little too much to finish.
Ryuuto: Too much? You were just complaining before about how hungry you were.
Yui: … …
Ryuuto: Good grief, just what has gotten into you this evening? After personally whipping this up for you, as well?
Is that one little fall to blame for your strange behaviour, I wonder? Perhaps you bumped your head without realising it, as well?
That would certainly explain a lot…
Yui: Uu… I just can’t finish it at the moment.
I’ve lost my appetite…
Ryuuto: Hmph, in that case…
Perhaps you ought to get yourself back to bed quick. You may take this plate with you back to your room, and finish it later, however.
Yui: ( There’s no point in arguing. )
That might be for the best…
Ryuuto: Then, hold onto that plate tightly… I suppose I’ll carry you, just in case.
ー Ryuuto scoops Yui into his arms. ー
Yui: Eep…!
G-Got it!
Ryuuto: And, for goodness’ sake, don’t spill anything.
ー Ryuuto teleports with Yui to her bedroom. ー
Yui:( Suddenly… We’re back in my bedroom. )
( I don’t know if it’s because we moved so quickly and I have only just eaten, or it’s my thoughts getting to me, but… )
( Uu… I don’t feel too good… )
Ryuuto: Now listen well to me, Pet.
If you need something again, you’re not to get out of bed. Call the servants, and keep off your foot.
Heaven knows if you’re attempting to keep it sprained for as long as possible, for whatever reason, but that will certainly be the case if you don’t rest.
Is that clear?
Yui: Yeah…
Ryuuto: Repeat it back to me, so I might know you’ve understood.
Yui: Stay in bed, off my sore foot.
Ryuuto: Good girl. Let’s hope you abide by my words, this time.
I’m not above punishing you, even in your current state.
ー He assists her into bed. ー
Hand me your plate, so I might place it on the side table.
Yui: Thank you, Ryuuto-san.
ー He does just that, as Yui gets comfortable. ー
Haa… It’s a relief, taking weight off it.
Ryuuto: Keep it elevated, I can see it’s already beginning to swell up again.
Can you fix your pillows to do that yourself, or must I do everything for you?
Yui: I can do it.
Ryuuto: Whilst you get settled then, I’ll see myself out.
Yui: Oh…
( Once again, he’s off… )
Ryuuto: … …
I’m no idiot, Yui. So please do not try and take me for one.
Yui: E-Eh…?
Ryuuto: You’ve been giving me quite the cold shoulder each time I distance myself from you. Don’t tell me you’re getting separation anxiety, Pet.
After all, that would explain the taste of your blood…
Yui: It’s nothing like that…
Ryuuto: Well, something has been playing on your mind since our horse ride this evening. Yet, you’re refusing to acknowledge it directly.
You know I don’t appreciate you hiding anything from me.
Yui: It’s…
I-It’s nothing. I’m not hiding anything, I just…
( His stare is so intense! )
My ankle just hurts, a-and I feel better in your company.
( I don’t like lying… but the embarrassment would kill me. )
…I promise.
Ryuuto: … …
Yui: ( Please, Ryuuto-san… Leave it be. )
Ryuuto: …As I said beforehand, recovery is up to you.
The less time you spend pining for my company, and the more you spend recovering, the quicker you will be back by my side.
ー Ryuuto heads for the door. ー
Yui: … …
Ryuuto: I’ll come and check on you in a handful of hours, so I suggest getting some rest. I’m certain you need it, after all.
Yui: I’ll try…
Ryuuto: Goodnight, Pet.
ー He walks out, closing the door behind him. ー
Yui: Haa…
ー Yui rolls over and tries to get comfortable. ー
( Left alone again… )
… …
( It’s so silent without Ryuuto-san here… Yet, my thoughts are so loud. )
( Maybe he is right, though… Maybe I should try to worry more about recovering than anything else for the time being. )
… …
( But, how can I when it’s Cordelia that is in that painting? )
Sniff… Sniff…
( I thought she was behind him, that she was gone for good. If I can’t hear her in my thoughts anymore, why does she still invades his? )
( In the end, he choose me after all, right? So why is he… )
ー Yui wipes her eyes. ー
Tears…?
( Uu, I’m really working myself up, but I… can’t help it… )
… …
( Laying here, it’s unbearable. )
Ryuuto-san…
Please… Don’t let her get inside your head. Not again.
Don’t let her take you from me…
( Don’t make me take matters into my own hands… )
ー There is a timeskip. ー
ー The scene opens in the entrance hall. ー
Yui: … …
So, this must be it, then?
( Covered over so carefully, like it’s ready for an unveiling… )
…Hmph.
( Don’t you only unveil masterpieces? How on earth is Cordelia a masterpieーー )
Aah… I shouldn’t think like that.
After all, Ryuuto-san is the one who painted it so… insulting the painting would just be insulting the painter too, right?
( And even though she was a horrible woman, in every sense… she’s never been short of beautiful when Ryuuto-san paints her. )
… …
( Even though I can’t see it, just standing here in front of it makes me uneasy. )
…I wonder where Ryuuto-san is?
( Come to think of it… )
( If he’s nowhere around, how hard would it be to move it from this place, and hide it somewhere for a while? Somewhere where he would forget about it… )
( My foot is feeling a lot better now. I’m sure I could manage! )
…Or better yetーー
( Maybe I could add a few brush strokes of my own to it? Not enough to destroy it… )
Just enough to ruin that smug face of Cordelia’s… Fufu.
ー She makes sure the coast is clear. ー
Here goes nothing! I might not get another shot at this!
ー Yui approaches the painting, and tries to lift it at first. ー
Hmfff…! Pwah...
No way, it’s too heavy.
( No use trying to lift it. I’ll just have to sabotage it here… )
ー She grasps onto the cloth covering it. ー
Let’s see what we’re working with hereーー
Ryuuto: I see your curiosity couldn’t keep you at bay, Pet.
Yui: Kyaaa!!
ー Yui moves away from it very quickly. ー
Ryuuto: Careful, now. I wouldn’t want you to knock the portrait of its hook.
Yui: You scared me!!
Ryuuto: Evidently, fufu. You found the painting, I see…
I am very pleased to report I’ve completed it. Although it may still be a little wet, I wanted to re-hang it as soon as possible.
Do tell me you haven’t peeked?
Yui: I-I didn’t, I swear.
Ryuuto: You were hoping to though… Weren’t you?
Yui: W-Well…
( Busted. There’s no use… )
I’m sorry, Ryuuto-san…
Ryuuto: Tsk, tsk. It was good thing I caught you red-handed, no? That would have simply ruined the surprise, if you did.
After all, I was planning on keeping it covered only until you had recovered, so we might unveil it together. And, it seems you have.
Yui: Yeah… My foot is feeling a lot better, actually.
Ryuuto: Then, I do suppose now would be the perfect time.
Curiosity is surely eating away at you, hmm?
Yui: …On second thought, can you hold off showing me for a bit?
Ryuuto: Oh? Why the change of heart?
Yui: Well. You see…
( There’s no other excuse for it, I just have to admit it… )
Just the thought of seeing that sort of portrait, is…
I-It’s embarrassing to sound this jealous, but… If I’m being honest, I’d rather you get rid of it entirely, Ryuuto-san. Without me ever seeing it!
Ryuuto: “Jealous”? Fufu, what on earth are you…
Yui: To know a painting of that woman is something I have to see every day, it’s awful!
Ryuuto: Ah…
Yui: Just the thought of it, I can’t stand…
Ryuuto: I think I understand your confusion.
Yui: Every day, walking past it, i-it’s going to drive me crazy.
Ryuuto: Fufu… Pet.
Yui: Knowing you put so much time into it too, I hated every moment that I knew you were in your studio, working away!
Ryuuto: Yui.
Yui: Th-That’s why, I didn’t want to leave your side when I hurt my foot!
Ryuuto: Yui, take a breath…
Yui: Because I knew every other second would be spent on herーー
ー Ryuuto silences her with a kiss. ー
…!
( Wha…! Warm… Soft… )
( A kiss. )
Ryuuto: …Fufu. Foolish girl.
Do settle down, lest you say something you regret.
Yui: …B-But!
Ryuuto: And, before you overwhelm yourself anymore, allow me to show you something, won’t you?
Yui: Wait…!
ー Before she can speak again, Ryuuto uncovers the painting. ー
E-Eeh!?
ー The painting has been altered, to feature Ryuuto and Yui instead, now. ー
R-Ryuuto-san…
( Cordelia… She is nowhere in sight…!? )
( Instead, it’s… )
I-I don’t… understand…
( Even Richter… Th-That’s Ryuuto-san, in his place, right? )
I…
ー Yui almost faints in Ryuuto’s arms. ー
Ryuuto: Careful, now… Fufu.
Although I wanted to save you the trouble of overwhelming yourself, it seems I have done the exact opposite. You haven’t fainted, have you?
Yui: I-I’m…
Ryuuto: Speechless, it seems? Fufufu.
Then, allow me to explain.
This portrait… The one that was Mother’s and Father’s, has been playing on my mind ever since you returned to me in your body, Yui.
Catching glances of it, having to pass it day-in, day-out? I had blanked on my paintings, all because – in the back of my mind – it felt out of place.
Cordelia is no longer the head of this house… and thus, neither is Richter.
As his son, naturally, I assume his place.
As for hers? It seemed only natural that there was one answer alone, for who would replace her in this portrait, and in this life.
Yui: Ryuuto-san… You mean to say…
ー He embraces her. ー
Ryuuto: Who else should, rightfully, be by my side than you, Yui?
Yui: I-I’m so relieved.
Ryuuto: Relieved?
It was always you, there was no doubt about it. This only confirms it.
Yui: This p-painting…
Ryuuto: Everyone will see it – see us – side-by-side, shoulder to shoulder. Almost like husband and wife, wouldn’t you say?
Yui: U-Uwah…
Ryuuto: Fufu, what is with that face you’re pulling? Are those tears?
Yui: This feels like a weight off my shoulders, hearing you say all that.
I can’t help but get a little emotional, you know?
Ryuuto: I was right with suspecting something was the matter, after all.
Yui: I-I didn’t want to hide my worries from you, but… all I could think of was the embarrassment, and your reaction.
Ryuuto: My reaction? Honestly…
Look once more at the painting, Pet. Notice your position…
Yui: At your side?
Ryuuto: Yes, at my side.
That is extremely telling, wouldn’t you say?
Despite this being a surprise, if you had expressed your concerns, I would have immediately dispelled them; There is no reason to keep you on edge.
…Honestly, I should punish you for worrying yourself sick.
Yui: …Fufu, I guess so, jumping to those conclusions…
Ryuuto: However, I won’t.
I wouldn’t want to ruin this lovely surprise, after all.
Yui: …Then, I suppose now is a better time than any to admit something.
Ryuuto: Oh? Go on.
Yui: My blood… That’s why it tasted so “off”.
I think… my jealousy got the better of me, you know. That can happen, can’t it?
Ryuuto: I think you hit the nail on the head; That could very well have been the case.
Yui: Then, Ryuuto-san? Won’t you taste some now?
Ryuuto: Fufu. Most certainly.
ー He leans in and bites her. ー
Nnh… Mmn…
Oh my…
Yui: Don’t tell me it’s…
Ryuuto: Back to normal. In fact, dare I suggest it’s even sweeter, suddenly?
Yui: Thank God!
Ryuuto: I think I’ll take even more.
Yui: Yes…! Please, go ahead.
ー He bites her once again. ー
Ryuuto: Haa…
Nn…
Mmf…
Yui: Aah…
Ryuuto: Mmng…
Yes, this is much better.
Jealousy doesn’t taste the slightest bit pleasant. It’s too… nostalgic.
Yui: I’ll do my best to not get jealous like that again, fufu.
Ryuuto: Although, at the same time, it suits you. Knowing my Pet worries herself sick, to the point of turning her blood with jealousy, is flattering.
Jealous that her Master might find her second-rate, hm?
Yui: That’s so embarrassing…
Ryuuto: Whether that is embarrassing to hear, that is the truth, no?
And, I value such honesty between us; Between a Pet and her Master, nothing is more precious than those feelings, wouldn’t you say?
Yui: Yes…
Ryuuto: So…
ー He licks up a few more blood droplets. ー
Mm…
Yui: Ryuuto-san…
Ryuuto: …For the rest of your life, my love for you will be displayed transparently.
It would be a shame, after all, if you were to take such initiative, again, to interpret my acts of love as anything other than what they are.
For a simple human like yourself…
I’ll love you simply, until you turn to dust.
Yui: I’m so happy…
Ryuuto: As am I.
Is Maria your OC ?
Yes! her full name is María Rosario Iglesias Franco, although she is better known as "Gooseberry" since she initially started out as an original character of mine from another game.
Tumblr media
I decided to include both her and Daniel (“Sangria Velvet”) because of the vampire theme, i really like DL and wanted to see them in it. ♡
She is Daniel's love interest, they met in a dream for the first time and since then, she has decided to be part of the twilight to be by the side of her true love.
Tumblr media
And now I'm still working on her design at Ryoutei Academy, just bear with me a little longer and I'll bring them to you hot as bread!
06. First Day
Word Count: 1176
Warnings: intent to bite
Contains: Bara has her first day at school and spends lunch with Kanato
---
Finally, Bara got to attend school once again. Being able to be in a classroom and learn something new… It was something she always enjoyed, even if some subjects bore her.
And even better, she didn’t have to worry about Kanato due to him being a year above her. From what she could see while walking through the first-year hallway, it was only Subaru who was in the same year as her. If he was in her class, she didn’t know yet.
Bara took a glance at the sheet she was given upon arrival, noting her class number and taking action of getting there. She passed by other students, seeing how most seemed like her: human. They just chose a school for nighttime, which was reasonable with what she knew of some friends back home. Some people were more productive at night instead of during the day. And even from her own studies, she knew it was a fifty-fifty balance in humans to either function better during the day or night due to their primitive era habits.
When the class had begun, Bara introduced herself as any new transfer would before taking her seat. It felt just like it did back in her hometown. Bara would be focused, taking notes and following along with the lesson from the teacher. She spoke when called on. Bara even heard the whispers from unruly students like she used to. Comfort was back with her. This type of environment is what she loved.
After the first few courses, it was time for lunch. Midnight, right on the dot. With help from classmates, she found herself going toward the cafeteria. The food there was premade and ready to get, most likely from a class with a free hour. It was simple and made Bara happy to find a rhythm once again.
She bowed in her giving of thanks to the person behind the counter and took the small disposable bento in her hands. As Bara turned to leave and find somewhere to eat, the sight of purple hair made her freeze in her tracks.
“Kanato,” she blurted it and quickly followed with a question, “are you here to buy lunch?”
Kanato glanced from Bara’s face down to the small paper box in her hands. Just seeing how she even handled an item was delicate. The perfect hands to pour tea, to wear dainty gloves, to be caressed against his cold skin. Every little thing he observed about her made him enjoy Bara even more.
“No, I don’t like the food here. I prefer having sweets,” Kanato spoke before reaching out and grabbing one of Bara’s wrists to pull her along.
She stumbled for a minute and quickly readjusted her grip on her bento, her feet also stumbled over each other as she hurried to keep up with the pull Kanato had on her. At least this time he wasn’t holding her tightly enough to bruise her. It was only firm enough to keep her school jacket in place against her skin.
They journeyed through the hallways for a while before Kanato led the two of them outside into a small garden. It was chilly enough that other students had chosen to not be out in it, making it just Kanato and Bara out in the small flower bed. Kanato led the girl to a bench and made her sit down with him.
“You’re to be with me during any free hour here at school, got it?” Kanato spoke.
Bara registered what he said before nodding her head hesitantly. She really wasn’t getting a choice in anything here, but what was she to do? “Okay… Do I come to you before or after I get my food?”
Kanato took the moment to eye the bento again. A small smile crept up onto his face as an idea came into his head. “Both of us will get lunch together, got it? I’ll be waiting by your door at the beginning of every lunch period.”
It didn’t seem sinister to Bara, but she was still hesitant to accept the offer from Kanato. Plus, it felt like he was trying to leash her.
“That can work,” Bara said while opening the box. “I don’t see you have one, so we can share mine for now if you wish.”
Kanato held back a giggle from his amusement. Sure, he could eat human food, but his proper meal would be her. Fresh, sweet, and delectable. Having it on the daily at school was something he’d enjoy.
“I’m fine for the moment,” Kanato replied.
Bara gave a small curious glance at him before she went to take the sealed bowl of mushroom soup out. Besides the soup, there was a bed of rice with marinated chicken on top in another sealed container, a small array of vegetable tempura in another, and then a cup of fruit as well. It was small portions of all of it, considering the box’s width still didn’t span the size of her thighs put together but balanced all the same. She would pop off the plastic lid on the styrofoam cup and begin to sip on the broth, sometimes pausing to eat out the solids with the disposable chopsticks she had.
The time went by reasonably, but the silence only made Bara more conscious of how loud she ate. A slight pink hue would dust her face in embarrassment when a loud noise came from her, usually from a crunch of the tempura or a slurp of the soup. Sometimes she would glance at Kanato, but he seemed to just be daydreaming as she finished up her lunch.
It was when Bara began sorting trash from recyclables that Kanato looked back at her. He’d eye her carefully as she went to sort the items accordingly into each bin. How her simple movements seemed delicate, fingers moving deft and quickly, and the slight sway of her hair in its ponytail pulled him more into admiring the doll-like appearance she held.
“What a doll…” he thought. “And all mine too.”
While Kanato didn’t have a proper claim on the girl, yet, he would do everything to keep his brothers from swaying the girl away. He’d eye over at the door, seeing Shu pass by for a moment, most likely avoiding the teachers again for lecturing him on sleeping in the halls. The blonde glanced out and saw Kanato, but paid him no mind after a glance. Kanato’s gaze would then wander back to Bara, seeing her return over to him.
A small smile would creep onto his lips. “I’d like to eat now, doll.”
Bara would look at him with her brows upturned and eyes altering in shape from the muscles moving. “But… There’s no food. You didn’t want any of my lunch.”
All he’d do was giggle, enjoying how foolish she acted. Bara seemed to be book smart, but she wasn’t the best socially it seemed to the vampire. His laughter and smile would drop, face entering into Bara’s bubble.
“You’re my meal, Doll.”
Diabolik Lovers
Pairing: Ruki X fem. reader X Kou
Tumblr media
Tags: triangle/vs, eventual fluff for now, mixed deviant canon
Spoilers from: general, especially: Mukami Ruki Sequel (manga)/More Blood, Maniac 08, Ruki's route
~
Author's note: It's been a while since I was reading the Diabolik Lovers mangas. I started with Ruki's Sequel again and oh my, everything of the franchise is drawn so pretty. Still while reading there's one certain situation that actually broke my heart and still does, so what if y/N would solve it differently?
Like known from the series this fiction leads to canon like themes. In this fiction though the Mukami brothers have a stronger contrast between their human and cruel side.
~
Summary: You just moved in the Mukami mansion and became part of their family. You're happy to have accepted Ruki's offer living with them, going to school again, being protected by the brothers in exchange for one more or less small demand: your blood.
You befriended Ruki's brothers right away, especially Kou, but to you he keeps his distance. Your crush on him makes things even more complicated and a coming incident questions your trust towards him deeply.
~
~
Chapter I
You've leaving school early with Ruki-kun. He insisted to go home after you've collapsed in class. Luckily your headache was gone now and the cool evening breeze refreshes your skin. You feel so much better. Still holding your hand helping you walk, he promised to reward you later, since you refused to Reiji-sans demand to visit the Sakamakies again. In the end you're just food for them, right? They don't care about you. But... Ruki-kun? Does he? You want to believe so, you liked him right away, but somehow you can't just yet, you don't want to be disappointed again. You squeeze his hand, maybe hoping for him squeezing back, giving you confirmation you're more than blood to him, him caring about you, you hope. You blink to his side profile. He looks just beautiful. You blush over your thoughts and look away, you sure stared. Did he notice? Shoot, he did...
... but he then blushed as well, what you didn't see anymore, looking down in the moment.
His steel-blue are what always make you uncomfortable, just as now, you remember. They're cold and you don't want to let your guard down, for your own sake. Still, you want to know... What's really on his mind?
[...]
Your thoughts are cut off by meowing somewhere nearby, desperately. A cat...? It was so tiny, thin, with bruised fur, sitting in a box to be abandoned. How can someone be this cruel? You felt anger and desperation building up inside you, but it's no use you told yourself. You came closer, carefully not scaring it, lifting up the box. It might die here... It needs a home and the Mukami mansion has plenty of space, you visualize, but... You should ask Ruki-kun first, you decided, you don't want trouble.
"Uhm, Ruki-kun... this kitten..."
"... Let's go"
He touches your lower back to walk beside you. Is he showing his protection differently since you're carrying the box with both hand? And...
He doesn't seem to be angry at least. He doesn't say anything more, so it's okay? But... something feels off... A cat in a vampire mansion? What were you just thinking anyway? It sounds too odd. Ruki-kun could have clearly said it would be okay, but he didn't. And there you also remember again: these cold eyes. He's gentle to you, somewhat, because you keep your promise to stay with him, but... You felt unwell. Maybe you shouldn't leave the cat alone and maybe it's a good idea to ask Kou for help.
At home you go straight for a little blanket to keep the kitty warm, always holding it softly, but firm in your arms. Strolling with a smile through the corridor you find Kou in his room. He sometimes seemed moody to you, more annoyed to be honest, but you instantly got along with each other most time. He tried already to help you understand Ruki, when conversations ended unwell. If someone can tell you how to keep this cat safe here then it's Kou.
"M-Neko Chan...", sings Kou laying and smiling on his bed as you enter.
"I found this cat on our way home and I..." You hesitate. He's your closest friend here, you remind yourself, he even calls you kitten, so he likes cats... right? But he's also still a vampire, he scares you, too. But... for this cat you just saved, you overcome yourself.
"Kou-kun, I need to ask you a favour."
HIS VERY OWN
Tumblr media
Yuriko's admin (@yuriko-mukami) and I (@ruki-mukami-dl) have been writing Yuriko's and Ruki's story since January 2022.
Due to the roleplay writing style and the enormous length/word count, we decided to keep the original writing private.
However, we wanted to give you an insight into Rukiko's world and will now gradually post summaries of His Very Own. This post is the masterlist in which we will link all the summaries.
We are still continuing the story and hope that we can do this for a long time. Enjoy reading~
