Mata Nui refused to sleep.
He had not given a reason for it, in the distinct way one does not give a reason for something they find immensely discomforting, so none had bothered to pry further, and he had never slept.
This was a useful problem. Useful, because he could still rest through meditation whilst remaining aware of his sorroundings, meaning there was always someone to keep an eye out for the many rogue crawlies that infested Bara Magna at night and any Bone Hunter ambushes, so there was no need to take turns keeping awake and vigilant; a problem, because Kiina now had to be wrestled to sleep lest she abused the down time they had to pester the stranger on space and planets and the such, and Mata Nui was more than glad to speak of anything she might have inquired about at length.
That would have also been a useful problem, as his explanations were told in a low gentle monotone that could have lulled a furious Rock Steed into a chittering pup gently kicking and pawing at the sand in its slumber, if the Gaquri would have managed to stop interjecting with far too loud a volume of voice.
As it was, however, all their conversations did was hinder everybody else's attempt at getting some shut-eye.
When Ackar awoke, the night was perfectly silent.
He wondered briefly why in Plude he'd stirred. A sudden flesh-rendering pain jolting through his right shoulder answered him a little too eagerly for his tastes, and he groaned as he kneaded into it with his fingers.
"Ackar?" a half whisper reached him.
He grunted in acknowledgement.
Mata Nui shifted from where he sat to lean over him: "Is something the matter, my friend?"
The Glatorian pushed himself upright with a bit of difficulty: "Nothing, nothing... Give me a second," he muttered, "I shouldn't sleep with it, but - urgh! Alright, alright, hold my elbow a moment, would you?"
He hissed his thanks through gritted teeth as his limb was caught in a gentle grip. His fingers slipped below his armpit and fumbled angrily with the folds of his skin as his grimace twitched with each spark of pain: at last, with a few clunks and exhausted pops, the arm went limp in Mata Nui's hold as it detached from the rest of Ackar's body, leaving the Glatorian to sigh in relief and move his hand closer to the crook of his own neck.
His friend stared at the body part suddenly in his palms with no shortage of surprise.
"It is a prosthesis," he noted, a little awed: "I did not realize that."
"Yes, well - it's not really your fault for that. It's not that easy to tell, and I never mentioned it," the Glatorian replied as he did his best to massage his aching shoulder blade.
The motion attracted the attention of blue eyes: "Are you hurt?"
"Ah... Nothing to be worried about. I should not sleep with it, is all. It decides to start stinging like Plude if I do that too much."
"You have slept with it all these nights, though."
Ackar gave a lopsided smile: "I know, I know - but when you're out here in the desert, it's always better to have two arms at the ready rather than one."
Mata Nui nodded solemnly, with a grave air about him, as though the Glatorian had bestowed great wisdom upon him instead of basic Bara Magnan common sense, and the veteran warrior could not help chuckling a little at him.
The otherworlder took great care to place the fake limb on the sand so that it would not jam its inner mechanisms before turning once more to his friend: "May I help you?"
"With what?"
"Your shoulder."
"It's just inflamed muscles."
"It doesn't seem as though you can reach the spot bothering you very comfortably on your own. I would be glad to lend a hand."
"Oh? You have experience with this?" the Glatorian teased him lightly, but he did slowly begin unfastening his chest armor with careful movements made surprisingly swift by half a lifetime practicing with only one hand.
"I do not," Mata Nui confessed, completely missing any and all implications: "But I do wish to be of help."
"If it would please you, then, be my guest," Ackar smiled. "Though I will say, at the cost of sounding like a frail maiden - take off your gauntlets at least. I'm pretty sure you'd rip my flesh right off of me if it got pinched in your armor."
"I see. That is an unfortunate request."
"Why so?"
"I am physically incapable of removing my armor."
The other just shrugged casually as he pulled off his undershirt: "I can help you with it."
"You are very kind, but I did not mean that it is impractical to fasten or get out of," the otherworlder clarified. He placed a palm on where his clavicle should have been, lightly curling his phalanxes around the edges of the golden yellow metal covering his upper half: "Taking this off would be akin to skinning me."
Ackar responded to the information with a wide eyed stare.
"Ah," he convened finally: "That'd be quite terrible."
"It would indeed, my friend."
"So - hold it, hold it. You've been naked this whole time?"
"I... Would not... Describe myself as such."
"No, no, I mean--" the Glatorian reworded himself as he scooted over, "This whole time, we've been running around fighting for our lives, fending off vicious beasts and Bone Hunters, and you haven't had a single piece of protective gear on you?"
Mata Nui blinked: "I am shielded," he replied.
"I don't mean Click and the whole - thing, that you make him do that turns him into a shield," Ackar said as he settled down with his back to his friend. "I mean something that keeps your soft insides from getting sliced in half at the first swing of a blade, or from getting skewered by the first Thornax launched into the back of your knee."
"I am shielded." the other insisted.
"By what?"
"My carapace."
His fingertips laid on the Tapyri's back, only to retreat in confusion a moment after. Whatever puzzled him was eventually deemed inconsequential, as he returned to study the shoulder blade beneath his fingers in search of any anomalies beneath the skin that could clue him in on where to strike.
"Your what?" Ackar asked.
"My body is naturally armored," he explained without breaking focus: "Much like insects, certain species of reptiles, or likely the Vorox and Zesk from what I could observe of them, I am covered by an exoskeleton meant to protect my organs and sustain my body. It is unclear whether I possess an additional endoskeleton, like you, but I must confess I am not very keen to find out."
"Huh," his friend noted. After a moment, he added: "Because you'd have to be skinned."
"Yes."
"Very fair."
That was quite the load of information.
By all means, this wasn't necessarily the first time they'd heard of carapaced sentient beings - the Fezeri of the Iron tribe had something of the sort, and if you tried searching through their old settlements enough you were bound to find some molts that had survived the passage of time - but they still had bones in them. Like normal people.
And yes, of course, Mata Nui was abnormal under every aspect if you looked at him for longer than two minutes.
But being a huge humanoid bug?
Now that was unexpected.
More than everything else.
Including coming from space. Because even Kiina had imagined that spacepeople would have had bones in them, or at least been aware of having them.
All of a sudden the Glatorian gave a short snorting laugh.
"You're so confusing," he said whistfully, craning his neck back. "By the looks of it one would guess you're just a slightly irregular fellow, and yet you're some sort of alien who's more like Click than any of the rest of us. You're just full of surprises."
"Oh! I suppose that is true," Mata Nui mused.
He sounded somewhat amused by his resemblance to the beetle. Like he hadn't noticed it himself until now.
His fingers slid on what seemed like a slight bump under the oily skin. That must have been the problem, he thought to himself, and without further ado dug his thumb in the spot: against his carapace he almost felt the individual fibers of muscle flatten under the pressure he exercised upon them, the tight knot they were wrapped in struggling not to yield and unfurl.
He didn't quite get the time to focus on that, however, as he was startled out of the tactile sensation by a deep gurgling sound rattling almost right in his audio receptor.
Ackar, for his part, was trembling so much that the flesh folded around the back of his ribs seemed to be trying its hardest to imitate the vibrating tempo of a dragonfly's wings as it raced its peers across the surface of a lake.
"Oh, I think you found it!" he gingerly said before his friend could wonder whether he'd accidentally hurt him - which in a matter of seconds was no longer a concern seeing as the Glatorian all but leaned further into his thumb: "Go on, go on, those bastards are hard to get rid of--"
Another growl reverberated through the otherwise still air, and Mata Nui realized it was coming from directly under his palms.
Ergo, it was coming from Ackar.
He tried digging harder into the skin: the shoulder wiggled around his finger in a very curious way and the gurgling's volume raised a little more, while the trembling returned to rattle through the Tapyri just as hard as it had before.
Sound and tremors repeated in varying intensity as he continued to knead his fingers against the suffering spot, usually accompanied by the body in question trying to recline directly into the pressure much like certain creatures do when gently scratched in specific areas. He deduced these reactions must have been positive ones, meant to communicate a contented or happy disposition - perhaps specific to the Fire tribe? The trembling in particular, with its very visible reverberations all across the being's frame, seemed to require the presence of an amount of skin which was notably higher than what he could glimpse on Gaquri and Lebori alike... Although Ackar was also significantly older than Gresh, Berix and Kiina, and it would not have been wise to rule out the possibilty of age playing an important part in determining the quantity of soft tissue.
Speaking of the skin, though he was very taken with the large splatter-like marks all across his back, there was also something else that was puzzling if not outright concerning him about it.
"You're sweating quite a lot," Mata Nui noted out loud.
Ackar leaned so far into his hand that he almost dropped down right onto the sand.
"Ah - 'sss not sweat," he drawled through the rumbling in his neck: "Don'- don't frrreak out now, ok- 's mucus."
His friend hummed, unbothered: "That explains the consistency."
"Don' worrrrrry about it - 's norrrmal, yesss? We - us Tapyri, we jusss' make it, see... For the, the tem- RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Sorrrrrry, so'ry... We live near volcanos 'n' open lava pools, so the temp'raturesss would shrrrivel us up..."
"I understand... It keeps you hydrated in otherwise extreme climates."
"Uh-huh... Plus 's easierrr t' wash off the ash like that... Jusss' ssscoop it all off, and the'e, all clean like an oil'd up--" an even more powerful gurgle took over his throat, and he arched his back so much that Mata Nui had to quickly catch him with both hands before he slipped right out of his grip. Now that the Tapyri's face was in view he could note with great interest that his thin teeth were paraded in a wide trembling grin, almost clattering together, and that his eyes were squeezed shut as if he were in great pain - although the effect his expression gave off, even looking at it upside down as the fallen god was, seemed closer to exceptional enjoyment. He watched him mutter a curse under his breath before his voice raised again, slurring in bliss: "A'e you su'e you've nev'r done this beforrre? Y're good!"
"I am afraid I only have theoretical knowledge at my disposal, although in great quantities," his friend replied, a little embarrassed as he laid the other's head down onto his armored legs.
Ackar grinned a little wider as his nape touched down on something pleasantly warm: "Ahhh, booksss, booksss..." he chuckled, wriggling in place, fingers idly pulling the air in uncoordinated motions: "I g'ess they'rrre good f'r sssom'thin', eh?"
His chest jumped with a giddy silent giggle, causing his rumbling to stutter a few times.
Now that he looked at his actual arm better, Mata Nui realized that its back too sported large splatters of different pigmentation. He caught it in his free hand very carefully, turning it over to observe it better while the Glatorian simply allowed him to, maybe not even noticing: their position and shape was not as random as it appeared, but instead seemed to follow an imperfect pattern which mirrored that flanking the man's spine. A quick glance at his prosthesis revealed no such detail on the fake flesh.
Such a curious thing, he mused as he thoughtlessly played with the organic limb - pressing on its palm, lifting it, bending its elbow and wrist to watch the skin crease and muscles tense or relax. He'd seen this sort of appearance on a few creatures along his travels, usually to ward off predators by denoting some sort of poisonous nature... Perhaps the Fire tribe had evolved to secrete a type of venom mixed into their protective layer of mucus in response to threats, or it could have been a strategy of ages past that had managed to survive with each subsequent step they'd taken up their evolutionary ladder for some reason or another.
He'd never had a tongue to test the effects of different poisons personally, and while he might have had one now (though he wasn't sure, since he had not had the time to properly study or think about this body's anatomy much) he was a little uncertain on whether his friend would have appreciated having his fingers shoved in Mata Nui's mouth for the sake of scientific research.
He had come across a few sapient species that considered that a formal greeting, but he would rather not take his chances.
Maybe he could have asked later.
He felt Ackar's shoulders shift and squirm in his lap to get more comfortable, and he returned his attention to him just in time for the Tapyri to open his eyes and meet his gaze in turn.
For a small period of time they simply looked at one another. The otherworlder continued idly moving the other's limb, exercising a gentle pressure upon his palm as he shifted the arm up and down without any rhyme or reason; Ackar himself just let him do as he pleased, only blinking back at him, face stuck in a neutral expression, not making a singular attempt at stopping him.
"Oh," he spoke at last with a nervous laugh: "Well. Hello."
What a strange thing to say. Mata Nui tilted his head slightly: "Hello," he replied in tone.
"I've made myself comfortable, haven't I?"
"If you are referring to your position, I took the liberty to recline you myself in order to keep you from getting injured."
It was unclear if the information reassured the Glatorian or not, as his reaction was to widen his pupils slightly, considerably darken the skin of his nose, and only peep: "Ah."
"You were leaning rather far back. You could have fallen."
"Ah," he repeated. "Thank you, friend."
"It was my pleasure."
Ackar's nose turned a little darker again.
Mata Nui touched it thoughtlessly: its temperature had increased, he mused to himself, so perhaps blood was rushing to that specific spot for one reason or other.
"You might be building a fever," he warned.
"I do not believe I am," the Tapyri replied a little stilted, again with an embarrassed chuckle, "But thanks for worrying."
Concerns soothed, the fallen god dug a digit back in the pained spot and earned another gurgle for his good deed, which reverberated this time across the plates of his legs. He was surprised to find it caused a weird, pleasant sensation akin to a feeling he unfortunately was not sure he had a name for yet.
He returned his attention to his friend: "How is your shoulder feeling?"
Ackar had shut his eyes again, and squirmed in a sort of pleased manner: "Betterrr," he replied, growls now coming from his throat in shorter bursts. He cracked open an eyelid to look at his own arm being maneuvered by Mata Nui's hand as though it were the limb of some sort of machine, losing himself in the feeling of the armored palm and the limp movement of his own joints: "Havin' fun?"
The other followed his gaze, and instantly turned bashful: "Oh - I apologize. I was lost in thought," he whispered sheepishly, placing the limb down on the Glatorian's chest.
His friend cackled: "It's quite fine, it didn't hurt."
Another gargle rumbled through him as the last kink in his muscle was smoothed down.
Mata Nui continued massaging the spot either way, and Ackar continued quietly responding to his kindness with soft purrs; and for a short while, as the desert breathed its tired chill and the winds didn't blow any sand into their eyes or noses or mouths, they simply remained quiet.
Fingertips ran across his arm softly, slowly.
If he concentrated enough he could hear how the barely perceptible sound them scraping the mucus off of one another.
It was terribly comfortable.
Terribly soothing...
A soft monotone stirred him from the torpor he was falling into: "In truth, I was quite taken with your skin's markings."
Without opening his eyes, Ackar turned his head: "Hm?"
"These," his friend explained. He felt him trace an unclear shape on his forearm a few times, gently: "You present an irregular pattern of noticeably different pigmentation both here and on your back. The closest condition I could try to compare it to would be vitiligo, but it does not appear to be anything like it."
The Glatorian hummed softly: "Oh, we just have them... They're common, to us Tapyri. Splatters, spots, dots... Various colors, too..."
"How curious," the otherworlder murmured. He moved from one spot to the other seamlessly, following their borders. "Poisonous creatures often advertise their toxicity to potential predators through similar visual cues."
"Is that so..."
"Perhaps you too have some."
Ackar chuckled as he humored him: "Perhaps I do, who knows!"
"Like a salamander."
"And what is that?"
"It is a term that indicates a family of small amphibians of which many species contain a potent poison within their mucus-covered skin. Their appearance is quite similar to that of lizards, so they are often mistaken for reptiles despite their lack of scales. Land-dwelling turtles often incur into a similar yet opposite misconception, being believed to be amphibians when they are not."
"Hm. And their poison, what does it do?"
"It is deadly in exceptionally small doses and can affect the victim by means of contact with bruised skin, ingestion, inhalation, and injection."
"Oh, I'd like that."
"You would?"
"Yeah, why not? First sand bat to swallow me whole gets a nice surprise, and I take that bastard down with me."
He laughed softly, reclining his head further into Mata Nui's lap.
His yellowish eyes looked up again curved into half moons, meeting the fallen god's own with a lopsided grin: "That'd be a nice little consolation at least, wouldn't you think?"
His friend's glowing irises looked back down at him with a sort of vacuous glimmer.
They were a very nice blue.
The otherworlder's hands were heavily segmented, each articulation encased in a golden shell fitting perfectly against the others. It was really curious how he'd never noticed that until he had his cheeks cradled into one of those palms, weirdly coarse and warm like sand.
Mata Nui looked directly into his eyes: "You are so deeply interesting," he said with such earnest awe.
He sounded so starstruck - he was so starstruck, staring at the Glatorian utterly entranced as though he was marveling at the sight of in the most incredible discovery of this age.
"If the circumstances of our meeting had been different, less wrecked with quests and worries," the fallen god continued, speaking awfully softly as he returned his mellow grip to the Tapyri's hand and began shifting his arm around aimlessly again, to feel the shift of muscle and skin and mucus, "I would have loved to simply watch you live for weeks on end. To take note of your speech patterns, your specific anatomy, how your body moves, how it reacts to stimuli..."
"That," Ackar murmured, breathless: "Is a bit forward - isn't it?"
His friend leaned his head to the side ever so slightly, not blinking.
"At least you should first..."
He choked on his own breath very briefly; he shut his eyes with a little bewildered wheeze and smacked his palm on his face.
Great Beings.
That could have been incredibly awkward.
Mata Nui, who was still holding onto his hand waiting for an elaboration with a fair share of interest on the matter, decided the necessary amount of time for an explanation's request to be polite had passed and curteously encouraged him: "Do continue. I would like to know the proper steps to follow."
But the Glatorian shook his head with a breathy cackle: "Don't- it's nothing, don't think about it. I'm very tired and talking stupid."
"I apologize. I should let you rest, then."
"Oh, no, if you - if you want to talk about something, it's fine."
A surge of warmth radiated from the carapaced fingers wrapped around his hand: "It would not bother you?"
"No, no... You've got a soothing voice really, so it wouldn't... I don't know how long I can listen to you consciously, but if you'd just keep telling me about... Oh, I don't know..."
"Would you like me to continue with the salamanders?"
Oh, he knew that little wiggle that had just shaken his friend's legs. It was the same as Kiina's flapping knees while sitting crosslegged, Gresh's one-handed claps and the weird little laugh Berix sputtered when he saw something he liked way too much.
Mata Nui really wanted to tell him more about those beasties.
Maybe he was excited about the similarities he'd found between them and the Tapyri. Or maybe he just liked talking - he'd always seemed awfully happy rambling to Kiina.
Either way, the little terrors had already gotten in his good graces with their poison, so why not learn more about them?
"I reckon I would," he smiled.
His arm was lifted again, and he could now see the excitement in his friend's eyes: "It would be my pleasure," he assured him. He leaned a little further down, closer to his face: "What would you like for me to start with?"
The Glatorian twisted his mouth for a moment: "To start, to start... The legs, let's go with those. How many do they have?
"They tend to have four limbs, two front and two hind, although certain species completely lack the latter," Mata Nui began without missing a beat: "The number of toes is also variable, but never exceeds four on the front and five on the rear. A rather incredible ability the entire salamander genus can vaunt is that of fully regenerating entire limbs without any trace of scarring."
Ackar hummed, amused, and moved his lone shoulder blade as though its arm was still attached: "That's a real good one, I'll say... Don't quite get the lack of back legs, though."
"Specimens that showcase such a peculiar characteristic tend to be fully aquatic throughout their entire lifetime, so perhaps an additional pair of limbs were considered more superflous to them than they were to other species that maintain an amphibious existence or even turn completely terrestrial upon reaching adulthood - though still favoring damp, cool habitats due to their permeable skin, preferrably near water." the otherworlder explained. Then, as though remembering it suddenly, he added in a slightly humored tone: "Sapient inhabitants of the planet on which I observed these creatures most often associate them to fire, particularly to the ability to resist it unharmed or putting it out entirely. A misconception created by the salamanders' habit of making their nests in rotting logs, from which they would flee when they were placed in the fire, also led to the belief that they were born from flames."
Something else they had in common with Tapyri...
One of their oldest tales, a myth to tell children - they were the spawn of embers, born from ashes still warm of extinguished bonfires, from the glowing rivers trickling down the sides of volcanoes...
Ackar squeezed his eyes hard and forced himself concious. A small sigh escaped him: he was already fighting a losing battle with his eyelids to keep them open, lulled into a thoughtless state by Mata Nui's excited monotone gently and eagerly pouring as much information as he could into his head.
His throat rumbled weakly, its grumbles vibrating against the equally pleased lap wiggling beneath his head - oh, if he could stay awake a little more, just a little more...
"Their diet tends to vary based on their environment and size, but they are known to eat anything the deem large enough," Mata Nui kept going softly, stroking the Glatorian's hand with his thumb: "Among their most common preys are insects such as flies, beetles, cicadellidae, moths, caeliferae and aquatic bugs, arachnids such as mites and spiders, earthworms, hexapods, and various larvae, while larger species may also hunt crabs, small mammals, fish, and other amphibians; in case of particularly scarce resources they might also resort to cannibalizing other salamanders, something that often happens between young specimens. Their jaws have each a row of small teeth capable of bending inward to keep the prey from escaping, sometimes helped by patches of teeth found on their palatine bones and vomer as well to better hold it down - aquatic specimens rely on them to macerate and tear the prey, as their tongues lack muscles and cannot be flicked out to catch food in the way their terrestrial counterparts' can. This is made possible by their ability to secrete a sticky mucus from glands positioned on the roof of their mouth and the tip of the tongue itself..."
And he continued talking for a good couple of hours, droning in the night with his quiet excitement without worrying too much about Ackar's silent snoring adding itself to the sound of Kiina, Gresh and Berix, simply happy to listen to them breathe and live around him and talk, talk, talk about all the marvelous things he'd loved alone until now.

I've been really into some of my own OCs lately, so here's some Willas and a Sam! I've been using them as subjects while experimenting with some more complex marker rendering, and it's really rather fun to have some more proper drawings of these guys.
Willa, I've talked about a few times before - she's a character who originated as a mashup of two of my favourite soldier characters (Generals Ironwood and Armstrong, from RWBY and FMA respectively), and has since grown into very much her own person who I'm very fond of. She's the classic exhausted leader type who exists to be a side character in someone else's story but, as a middle-aged butch aroace woman in a society that doesn't value any of those traits very highly, she's sick fed up of being side-lined and Not Going To Take It Anymore. I love her, she's exhausted and cranky and stuck leading the fight in a war for survival that she's pretty sure can't be won by someone like her, but she's going to burn herself to the ground trying anyway.
The two drawings I did of her were mainly to figure out her face properly, and I ended up with one dramatic pose and one that's supposed to have the vibe of an official portrait. I always have far too much fun drawing wrinkles on faces, and I've recently discovered how fun it is to include details like freckles and red patches on skin with coloured pencil. I also experimented with inking some of the lines in colours other than black, and it's a subtle effect but I rather like it.
The fellow with the ginger hair is Sam, otherwise known as Dr Hargrave, and he's a supporting character in Willa's story as the chief medical officer at the wall fort she commands in the frozen north of their country (which is very loosely science-fantasy!Scotland), and also the closest thing she has to a best friend. If you've followed me for a while, he might look a bit familiar, and that's because Sam actually originated as Sammarion Harnendil, my half-elf life cleric DnD character, who I've drawn a bunch of times before. This version of Sam is slightly different (he's fully human, for one, although he still has big ears), but on a personality level he's exactly the same, which makes him cheerful, friendly, dad-joke-making and deeply devoted to being a doctor and helping people. Translating Sam's DnD stuff over into a different setting was actually what helped me pin down the nature of the magitech in this setting, and that magitech is the reason that Sam looks like he does despite being practically the same age as Willa. He's got some complicated accidental immortality going on, it's fun.
That drawing of him came about because of a screencap that I rather liked of one of the characters he's based on (Dr Harry Cunningham from Silent Witness), and I had a lot of fun drawing the folds and creases in his jumper. Sam's also the reason I've ended up so fond of adding pencil details to faces, ever since I decided he ought to have freckles when I was first designing him. I'm really pleased with how he turned out, especially since that's the first full colour drawing I've done of this version of the guy, and my first time drawing his face from that angle.

Some warmer than luke warm takes? Go for it, I love reading peoples thoughts and opinions on episodes
Tumblr media
OHHH BROTHER, this ask has been here for a WHILE and I kept rewriting my thoughts (aka distraught venting) because I couldn't finish a single sentence or close off a point so here's my nteenth attempt. Enjoy.
the thing that bothered me with luz and hunter's relationship was that it had so much potential to go somewhere but simply didn't.
I don't mean this in terms of romance, honestly, I understand that a big part of Dana's vision for this show was having lumity be canon (plus huntlow), but rather in their general relationship development. it felt to me like during s2b there was a sort of... dissonance between Luz and Hunter's relationship vs the experiences they went through together, and what you'd sort of expect narratively to happen.
Luz is a caring person who's gone out of her way for people before, even enemies, so I was confused as to why we couldn't get any lines in about her being worried for Hunter, or showing us visually that she's attempted to contact him, or even have them hug/acknowledge what happened last time when they met up again.
I was expecting/hoping for a "You're okay!!!" from Luz and an "uh YEAH I'm okay I'm so competent haha please don't mention what happened last time to anyone EVER" which is. sort of what we got? I just want Luz to be relieved to see him, is all.
Just something?? to show us that they Get each other, so to speak (because s2 had to squeeze in a lot, I get that much plot that had to be skimmed over off-screen but STILL. Even small things would've been great).
I don't expect them to be BFFs. Cus i mean, he has spent more time with Willow and Gus so yeah, duh, he's gonna be closer with them. I just wish their relationship got the same treatment, or we at least got to see it grow during their scenes together.
imo the writers did seem to not let them interact as often as they could, for whatever reason. I still.... don't get why luz and amity had to be away while Hunter went undercover at hexside. The shenanigans that would've ensued.....
This isn't even exclusive to Hunter and Luz, I see it with Amity and Willow too. Again, this is mostly due to Disney's decision to axe tf out of this show, but I still think that they could've done quite a bit with what they had.
Alas, the writers are taking some of the relationships in a direction that I personally don't agree with which is 🤷‍♂️ It sucks, but that's how it is. I can always redirect my preference to fanon.
BUT!!!!!
s3 seems to be a bit different in that we look to be getting more hunter and Luz interactions! so hey! maybe all of what i said will be rendered null and pointless in like a week! we'll see i Guess!!
tldr: There are alotta missed opportunities, a lot is up to the show being canceled early but there are times when they could've squeezed in SOMETHING but decided not to. It's a huge shame but hopefully, we get to see them more in s3 so take my complaints with a grain of salt.

Romanced! Male!Companions react to Sole/Lone/Six being unable to walk the morning after.
I’ve got M!Companions from FO4, FO3, and FONV here, but let me know if you guys want me to include anyone else at all!
Might be just a little NSFW?
;)
Fallout 4 --
Danse:
Danse would feel absolutely horrible. After the initial flush on his cheeks at the mention of sex, his expression would turn to one of devastation. There honestly wouldn't be any sense of satisfaction whatsoever at having hurt you, and he would internally berate himself for not being as attentive to you, and as aware of your reactions as he should've been. That day he would tell you to take it easy and he would be at your constant beck and call in an attempt to make it up to you. He would spend all day beside you, working on cleaning and repairing your weapons and armor, engaging in idle conversation, and maybe listening to the radio. The next time you two are intimate he will be exceedingly gentle with you, and will take extra care to ensure you are more prepared for him before really getting into it.
Deacon:
He would feel really bad to have hurt you enough to impact you like this, but also he would feel just a small twinge of satisfaction at having been able to do so. He'll do his best to take care of you after you tell him about it though, spending the whole day with you in bed, just chatting away, playing little games with you, like “two truths, one lie” or 20 questions and the like. When the time does come for you two to be intimate again, he'll have you take the lead a few times in a row to get an idea of your preferred pacing so he can replicate it better and hopefully not hurt you in the future. But, and he's not particularly proud of this, he will ask your permission to tell some of the others back at HQ what had happened. (He just really just wants to see the look on Carrington’s face, and prove a certain something to Glory about his anatomy. But, of course, he wouldn’t use your name if you didn't want him to. Discretion is this man’s forte, after all).
 Hancock:
Is it still considered aftercare if it happens the day after you've had sex? Well, whatever it’s called, Hancock would do all that he can to make up for how he had made you feel. He should know better after all by now, he would feel horrible and try to think back to the way you had reacted to some of his movements in an effort to pinpoint what exactly had hurt you so he could make sure to never do it again. If you wanted chems to numb the pain, he'll surely offer them, and besides that, he'll spend the whole day just looking after you. Holding you close, telling you jokes and stories, making you food, maybe giving you a message, just anything to make you feel better. And when you two are intimate again, he'll be sure to make it up to you. Big time.
 MacCready:
Initially, he might feel a distinct sense of pride at having rendered you immobile with his vicious love, but once his brain wraps around the fact that you're actually in pain, he'll feel pretty bad. Maybe not as bad as he should, which he tries to hide, but it's pretty obvious given his little grin he has plastered on his face all day. But he’ll be sure to take good care of you, grabbing snacks and refreshments before curling up next to you with a couple of comic books, really just taking full advantage of the day off. From now on, when the two of you do have sex, he will try to prevent this from happening again by having you be in control for the most part, at least until he learns your body and its limits a bit better. He still might not completely ease up, but he’ll at least make it seem like he’s not as proud of what he’d done as he actually happens to be. And just a heads up, he may just bring up the fact that he was the one who “loved you so hard that you couldn’t walk” at every given opportunity, so just be aware of that.
Nick:
The poor old detective would feel dreadful, this was part of the reason he'd been hesitant to engage in physical acts of intimacy with you in the first place. Even if you assured him it was nothing more than some temporary soreness, he'd have trouble rationalizing being with you intimately for a little while. He would also take an easy day himself so he could keep an eye on you and get you whatever you might need. When you did manage to convince him that you would be okay to have sex again, he would be overly tender and gentle, just to make sure that you know how much your well-being means to him, and to assure you that he would never repeat the actions that had ended up hurting you ever again. As far as he was concerned, he wanted you to wake up feeling good after being with him, to feel satisfied and giddy and maybe just a little tired, but certainly not in pain.
Preston:
Oh lordy, good luck trying to get him to touch you again after he finds out that he hurt you. Initially, his brain would send a little spark of pride to the forefront of his mind when you first told him, but his conscious self would instantly shut it down, disgusted by the fact that it was present at all. He would insist you take the whole day off and would try to keep up on his work while also looking after you in every way possible. You'll really have to work to get him to be with you intimately again anytime soon, as he'll be quite worried about you, and once you do manage to convince him, he'll be extraordinarily gentle and slow. He's very sweet, but you'll have to be patient with him as he pauses with every heavy breath you release, or gasp you take, or moan you utter. Even good noises are scary for him, but don't worry, he'll get back to his usual pace eventually, and now be extra aware of your every reaction to him; which, as it turns out, can be quite handy.
X6-88:
The courser will be conflicted. On the one hand, you were aware that X6’s lovemaking is rough, you've known that from the start, so the two of you wouldn’t be unused to scenarios like this occurring. However, for it to have escalated to physically impairing you enough to prevent you from walking… that made him feel an ache of regret in his chest. Luckily, X6 doesn't miss a thing, and likely will recall which aspects of the night had led to this specific outcome, and he would try to eliminate those factors from future interactions. As for now, he will ensure that you are safe, and as comfortable as possible; he will guard you as you take the day to rest, and will fetch you anything that you require. Normally, when you were hurt, he would recommend paying a visit to the Institute medical facility, but in this case… he would rather try and help you himself if it comes to it. You’re not entirely sure if it’s because he’s embarrassed, or just possessive over certain areas of your body now, but you’d say his crimson cheeks were a bit of a giveaway.
Fallout 3 --
Butch:
On the outside, he would be the prime example of the sympathetic boyfriend. He would apologize and spend the day cuddling with you, playing with your hair, eating snack cakes and drinking nuka cola. On the inside, however, he would feel a certain sense of fulfillment, and would have to consciously hold back the wicked grin that threatened to spill onto his lips at the thought of his lovemaking being wild enough to make it so that you couldn’t walk. He certainly wouldn’t actively try to do it again, but he also wouldn’t necessarily try to prevent it from happening, so just be prepared for anything. But whether or not he’s successful in making you sore again, he’ll fully dedicate himself to caring for you afterwards, ensuring that you’re comfortable and content in his arms at the end of each night.
Charon:
The ghoul can’t say he’s surprised, he did warn you that this might happen, after all. His previous sexual experiences have all been initiated by past employers, so most of them have ranged from pretty negative ordeals to downright violent encounters, and though he'll try to leave that in the past, it's tough for him to let go of it completely since it’s really all he knows. That being said, he will still feel bad about hurting you, and will really try to take more care the next time the two of you are intimate. You'll have to work together on communication and focus more on foreplay in the future, but Charon aims to please, and would never purposefully try to hurt you (unless, of course, if you told him you were into it ;).
Jericho:
He’ll honestly just grin nice and big when you tell him. Sorry. If you wanted tenderness and sympathy, you should probably look into being with someone else. Jericho would consider this to be an achievement on his part, and assure you that this was a sign that the two of you had really done it right. He might complain a bit about having to stay in for the day, but that doesn't mean he won't still take care of you, in his own sort of way. He'll offer you a drink (or a few), or a cigarette (or a whole pack), and would probably just end up falling back into bed next to you and taking a nice, long nap at your side. He wouldn't really promise to change anything the next time the two of you have sex, but he might try to reassure you that it will get easier with more "practice."
Fallout New Vegas --
Arcade:
Oh, he would definitely laugh, because it's a joke. Obviously you're joking with him… right? No!? But-- how? He would be confused by this, and too busy thinking through what he possibly could have done to make you physically unable to walk, to actually address the issue. Once he snaps out of it, he'll ask if you're okay and try to keep his snarky and sarcastic quips to a minimum for the day. As much as Arcade loves giving you a hard time in general, this time he'd be too embarrassed to bring it up. In the event that you do mention it, you'd best be prepared for the pink hue that would adorn, not just his cheeks, nor even his face, but his entire body. When the two of you do have sex again, Arcade will be happy to let you take the lead so you can better control the pacing and keep from hurting yourself at all, (which really is just a win-win scenario, considering the fact that he really prefers you being in control anyway.)
Boone:
His brows would furrow at the news, barely noticeable through his sunglasses, but he would simply set down his rifle and bag and settle back into bed with you. The ex-soldier would curl his arms around you and stay beside you for the remainder of the day, rubbing his arms along your body comfortingly. He’s not big on small talk, but Boone would love to just sit and listen to you ramble all day long. When the evening comes, he’ll be sure to get up and make you both dinner before encouraging you to go to sleep early. Despite his stoic exterior, he's actually quite the tender caretaker. The next time you two are intimate together, he'll consciously focus on being more gentle and controlled with his movements, and certainly won't be shy in making sure you're properly "prepared" for him when he does get a little more rough.
Raul:
Aw, the poor old ghoul would feel horrible about hurting you, the ridge above his eyes would crinkle upwards as he flashed you a sympathetic smile. He'd be a little embarrassed about it as well, feeling like it was rude of him to let his self-control slip enough to have ended up hurting you. He'd take care of you for the day, taking the opportunity to tidy up your living space as he chats with you about anything and everything, telling you stories of his life from before the bombs dropped, teaching you some words in Spanish, and telling cheesy jokes to make you laugh. He would give you a bit of time to recover before agreeing to sleeping with you again, and this time he would suggest either you taking the lead, or using a safe word in case his control started slipping again.

ofc! i'm sorry about not being more specific!
would you be able to do a comfort drabble with orochimaru and a she/they reader, post war is preferred; maybe a sick reader who has a cold and orochimaru makes her some food or medicine?
While ordinarily I might not write him so soft, I could definitely see a post-war Orochimaru acting with a bit more compassion than his old self would have. I enjoyed writing this one.
Fever
Post-war Orochimaru x sick!gn!Reader
1.8k
You groaned quietly as you pressed yourself up to a seat. A feverish ache wracked your body as you struggled to get yourself upright. A vice had tightened around your head sometime during the night. You felt as though nails were being driven into your temples. This was a terribly inconvenient day to feel sick, as Orochimaru expected to see you in the lab in the next hour to assist him with the rather time-sensitive experiment you had been helping him with for the last several weeks.
With a herculean effort, you heaved yourself off of the bed you really didn't want to leave and stumbled into the bathroom on legs that might as well be made of stone, feeling your way along the wall as you moved, too unsteady to walk unassisted. With shaky hands, you twisted the taps to the sink to splash water on your face in an effort to wake yourself up. You sniffled once, feeling something wet on your lip.
Great.
Your nose was running like a faucet. Not a great look when you would need to be leaning over sensitive lab equipment all day. You turned the taps off and defeatedly lowered yourself onto the lip of the bathtub with a wad of tissue clamped over your nose. Your free hand gripped the edge on which you were perched, blanching your knuckles as you fought to steady yourself. The exhaustion was unreal. At this point, you didn't know how you were going to make it to the lab.
After blowing your nose and stuffing aside the feeling that your head was four sizes too big for your shoulders, you heaved yourself back onto your feet, pulled clean clothes onto your throbbing, aching body, and slowly made your way into the hall. Moving this much was more difficult than you anticipated. A chill rattled through your bones, and your vision wavered. It felt like you were climbing at altitude. The air was impossibly thin. You leaned into the cool, stone wall to keep yourself upright as you paused not fifteen feet from the doorway you just exited, drained of energy and entirely exhausted. Slowly, one heavy step at a time, you stumbled down the hall until your vision was clouded with dancing black static.
Every cell in your brain screamed that you needed to sit down, but you refused. Your fear of disappointing Orochimaru kept your limbs moving forward for a few more painful steps until you collapsed to the floor in a messy heap, smashing your face into the ground on the way down. That did not help with your raging headache. As you struggled to press yourself up again with your hands, you flinched and glanced down, watching as drops of blood fell like rain onto the stone beneath you. Unable to hold yourself upright any longer, you sank forward again until your face met the cold ground and everything went dark.
*~*~○~*~*
Orochimaru glanced impatiently between the antique clock adorning the wall and the door to the lab with brows furrowed.
You were late.
You were never late. In fact, he could almost always count on you being early, as you always displayed such an adoring eagerness to please him. That was one of the many things he liked about you. Curious as to what was keeping you, he casually made his way through the halls toward his room, chuckling to himself as he wondered if he had just worn you out too much the night before. You had been rendered a nonverbal pile of quivering limbs, to the point that you needed help getting into the shower after he was finished with you. It was possible that you were still sleeping it off. What he didn't expect to find, though, was you collapsed in the hall, thirty feet from his doorway, laying with your face in a smeared puddle of blood.
His expression now twisted in what almost resembled concern, he silently strode up to the trembling, shifting, heap that was you and your uncomfortable looking contortion of arms. Semi-conscious, you twitched where you laid, struggling to press yourself off the ground on trembling arms as you heard his approach.
"I'm sorry... I'm late," you heaved between breaths.
Inky tresses tickled your neck when Orochimaru leaned over and gently took you by the shoulders. He sat you up against the wall as you struggled to collect yourself, noting the blood smeared on your mouth that still seemed to be trickling down from your nose. With knotted brows, he examined your face, carefully turning your head by the chin from one side to the other. Delightfully cool fingers brushed against your cheek. Your skin was feverish and clammy. Confusion glassed your eyes. "Look at you. Unable to stand, yet you still tried to go to the laboratory," he mused.
Still trying to focus through the terrible, creeping ache that buzzed beneath your skin like armies of marching ants, you struggled through your argument. "I… I can... stand."
Orochimaru chuckled. "Oh? Did you simply take a nap in the hall for fun, then?"
You shook your head as you struggled to get your legs beneath you, trying to get up, but you were stopped by a hand on your shoulder.
"That's enough. You will not be going to the lab today."
"I'm fine… I can…"
He chortled again, slightly amused by your insistence that you weren't completely incapacitated. It was almost cute. He rose to his feet and observed as you fumbled and failed to get up, sliding back down against the wall again as your legs buckled. This time, Orochimaru caught you under the arms, cradling your head against his shoulder as your knees gave out.
"You have quite an impressive fever," he hummed while adjusting his grip on you to offer more support and leading you back down the hall toward his room, walking slowly and assisting your movements with the arm he had wrapped firmly around your back.
"Just tired and have a little headache," you mumbled. "M'fine."
"The blood dripping down your face is not simply the result of fatigue or a 'little headache'. You collapsed. The only place you're going is back to bed."
When you finally arrived after what felt like an arduous trek to your fatigued body, he guided you back to his bed and pressed on your shoulders, prompting you to sit before grabbing a bit of cloth from his pocket to deal with your still bleeding nose. With a shaky hand, you took it from him and squeezed it over your face.
"How long have you been feeling unwell, hm?" he inquired in that low, soft tone while pressing a cool hand to your forehead, both to gage the severity of your fever and to brush sticky hair away from your eyes.
"Just woke up feeling like hell," you croaked from behind the cloth pinched to your nose.
Piercing, amber eyes bored critical holes into your head. "So being unable to walk to the shower last night without assistance was unrelated to this?"
Groaning quietly, you leaned into the cool hand touching your face. It felt divine against your aching head. "Hnn..."
"It would be unwise to continue lying to me," he murmured dangerously, gently taking the tissue clamped over your nose from you once your nosebleed stopped and wiping away the bit of dried blood that clung to your upper lip.
"Started last night," you admitted finally, wincing as your head continued to thunderously throb.
Orochimaru traced his fingertips along your temple in thought for a moment before settling his hands on your shoulders and carefully tipping you onto your side. "Remain here."
With a soft whine, you caught his sleeve as he turned away. "Wait--"
A small, crooked smile pulled at his lips as he untangled your fingers from the fabric and placed your hand back down on the bedding beside you. Trailing pale digits along your hairline, he repeated the soothing motion once more before it vanished. Once you realized that he left, you groaned into your pillow, clenching your eyes. Laying down felt worse, but sitting up required so much effort. The creeping ache that blazed through your entire being left you with little motivation to move, other than what might be required to alleviate the screaming pulse in your skull. With a pained grunt and the shuffle of bedding, you finally maneuvered yourself to a seated position again, pressing your hands against your eye sockets as a shiver rattled your spine.
"I don't recall telling you that you were permitted to get up," a low voice chided as a hand came to rest atop your head.
"Down is worse," you hissed into your palms.
The hand on your head shifted beneath your chin, tipping your head upright with a curled knuckle. "Drink this." A small mug entered your line of sight.
You wrapped a shaking hand around the ceramic, taking a careful whiff of it before bringing the container to your lips. Atrocious. No doubt, this was one of Kabuto's old remedies. It smelled like a swamp and didn't taste much better. You choked the liquid back, suppressing the gagging cough that crept up from your stomach. "Thank you," you breathed in a raspy whisper.
"Lay back down before you fall on your face again," the serpent quipped, gleaming eyes focused hotly upon you as he took the mug from your trembling grip and set it on the nightstand to his left.
"But, the experiment--"
"Do you truly believe I'm going to allow you anywhere near the lab when you're delirious? It can wait."
"M'not--"
"Arguing with me is futile, my dear. I can promise you that you won't win," he chuckled lowly while taking a seat beside you and guiding you onto your side, spilling you over his lap despite your quiet protests. He effortlessly flipped a blanket over your shivering body before setting his hand down atop your head, idly stroking your hair like you were a cat. This was a sure-fire method to halt any struggling, as he knew just how weak you were for this rare display of affection.
You groaned contently into his leg. "Can you put your hand on my face again? Cold feels so good," you breathed in a muffled mumble.
With a soft chuckle, he honored your little request and softly laid his other palm down across your forehead, gifting relief to your sizzling skin with his chilly touch and covering your eyes in the process. "If you do as I say and rest, perhaps I will do this more often," he hummed temptingly.
Quite the temptation, indeed. That man knew your weaknesses all too well. With a heavy sigh, you felt yourself sink into your spot, head beginning to swim from the effects of the hellish medicine you drank. "S'the room s'posed to be spinning?"
"As I told you already, you're delirious and need to rest." His voice rumbled quietly from above and seemed to fade into a comfortable silence as you lost your ability to focus. The soft touch stroking your head continued as you reluctantly closed your eyes and succumbed to the siren's song that lured you to sleep.
Orochimaru stayed -- continuing his research with an open tome resting upon your sleeping form, quietly running his fingers across your scalp.

The Man with Red Eyes
Tsukiyama Shuu x male demon reader
Summary: Ghouls were not the only monsters that preyed upon humans, Tsukiyama learned this when he bumped into a stranger that offered more than a bite.
Demon au
Warning: Mention of blood and violence.
This is something I wanted to experiment with a bit, by attempting to write a colder, more darker reader instead of the character. I would love feedback on this please.
Thank you. Please enjoy.
Tumblr media
It was no real secret that ghouls were not the only monsters that preyed upon humans. Not the only apex predators that stalked and observed their prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. Though, these ones were different; while some resembled humans, others didn’t share as many qualities. Appearing monstrous and horrific was their biggest flaw, that and that the mere touch of sunlight was enough to scorch their skin, rendering them to nothing but cinders.
Demons. Conflicts between the two predators that share the same prey and territory was often, but only the bodies of ghouls were shown. Well, that or sometimes a large pile of ash or dust. Shuu himself had faced against his fair share of demons, no two fights being the same. He could not forget the one that left him bloody and bruised with his arm ripped off, it took weeks to heal from that. He has spent some time tracking the demon, a four-eyed beast that made an odd ticking sound with its jaws, and was more than happy to return the favour.
Perhaps he could sample the demon? The past few times, demons have tasted awfully foul and bitter, but perhaps this one may be different? If not, then at least he will have a few moments of enjoying watching the demon squirm.
Shadows danced and swayed as the moon’s light was sheathed and unsheathed by the thick clouds, offering moments of pale light to break the shadows and show the path ahead. Both shadows and moonlight thriving in the sun’s absence, allowing themselves to stretch freely rather than be constricted to small corners and alleyways. A puddle rippled from the footstep that caught the edge of it, disturbing its peace as the person walked down the dark alley, unfazed by the shifting and growing shadows. Soft whispers slithering along the small breeze, riding the wind gusts and brushing their cool touches against coats, against exposed skin and through hair.
Though their touches went unnoticed by the violet-eyed man as he walked, his attention solely on one thing: His prey. The blood trail the demon had left in its wake, leading him right to it. Thick, blackish substance replacing what should have been a crimson liquid, further showing just how distant demons were from humans. They didn’t even bleed the same. It was surprising how Shuu was able to get the jump on the four-eyed demon, then again, he did use the element of surprise to get the advantage; waiting until the demon was deep in feasting before driving his kagune deep into its chest, slicing through flesh and bone, to leave a gaping hole from the chest to its side. He relished in the pained scream it released before fleeing. It wouldn’t get too far, not with a wound like that, a shark hunting down a wounded barracuda.
As mentioned before, it was not uncommon for ghouls and demons to clash, but it all depended on who held the upper hand. Who was the strongest, but also the more cunning. Some S ranking ghouls have fallen to powerful demons, but also vice versa, with weak demons losing to weak ghouls. Some fights taking some time to end, while some being over in but seconds. Shuu was going to enjoy this.
The young man came to a stop at the corner of the alley, seeing the four-eyed demon leaning against the wall, attempting to heal his wounds faster, and struggling to.
“Shit, shit, shit!” he hissed, holding the wound together as the flesh and muscle weakly stitched itself together, slowly regenerating. Very slowly. A soft chuckle left Shuu’s chest at this, eyes falling to their deep crimson glow as he approached, emerging from the shadows.
“My, my, so weak are we, mon ami?” He smiled as the demon snapped his head towards his voice, all four eyes widening at the sight of him. “I must say, I’m quite disappointed, I thought you would have more fight in you given how you left me all those weeks ago.” He continued to approach, amusement flourishing within him with sparks of confidence, the kind one felt when he knew he had already won a battle. The way fear filled each one of those eyes as he approached, how his form crumbled down to a submissive bow. How his body shook with the tension that tightened his nerves within his body.
How that cold breeze washed against Shuu’s back, claws brushing over the muscle in an outward motion, like spider legs crawling over his back, over the shoulders and down his chest, putting his own nerves on edge at this sudden presence.
“Ce que le?” Darkened eyes searched the shadows around them, searching for this third presence that sourced such coldness, and erupted such fear from the demon. Quiet tapping rhythm of footsteps echoed as a man emerged from the shadows, almost as if he had materialised from them given how the shadows seemed to clutch onto his form, not wanting him to abandon them and leave them to evaporate into nothing.
Monotone in range of colours, dressed smart with his casual dark suit, but with his face concealed by the shadows casted by his hat. [Hair colour] hair combed neatly, working perfectly with his [Skin colour] complexation. But there was no mistake, this man was the source of that biting coldness. He passed the ghoul without so much as a second glance, relaxed even, unfazed by the ghoul’s presence. Or more along the lines of unconcerned as he approached the shivering demon.
“You disappoint me. Time, and time again.” He spoke, a calmness filling his voice that was laced with a burning venom. “And yet, you never improve.”
“P-Please, master. I-I can do better, I-I promise! Just give me time, I’ll heal! I’ll-” The four-eyed demon’s voice was cut off by the [Hair colour] demon raising his hand, one nail growing, sharpening into a claw before plunging itself deep into the demon’s skull.
“You fail me, and then have the audacity to raise your voice at me? Pathetic.” Pain cracked the demon’s face as his body began to violently convulse and shake from the blood being forced into his body from the claw. His body unable to cope before the cells broke down, melting the body and leaving a pool of tar-black liquid and clothing. Shuu held his breath, catching it in his lungs at what he had just witnessed. Demons were capable of that form of....whatever the Hell that was?
The man, no, demon, stood up and sighed softly, an odd sense of calmness in his actions despite the threat that he radiated. He turned his gaze towards the ghoul, crimson red eyes glowing with a haunting glare that pierced through the darkness. Pupils that should have been circular sat slitted, not unlike a cat or snake’s eyes, different shades of reds melting together, like rose petals falling against rubies resting in blood. An interesting set in his thoughts.
“Well, that was a sight to see.” Shuu remarked, a sly smile on his lips as he refused to avert his gaze, choosing to stare his opponent down and show no weakness. Despite a hushed whisper in the back of his mind begging to flee.
“Don’t fool yourself. This was nothing spectacular, ghoul.” he spoke, pulling a tissue out and cleaning the blood from his finger before tossing it to the ground. “My patience for his excuses grew thin, as is for you.”
“And one cannot help to find you....interesting, mon ami.” the ghoul smiled, “After all, few can be worthy of standing before The Gourmet.” Many demons knew ghouls by their aliases, often having overheard it from others. This demon, though, gave no flash of emotion to this, not even a silver of anything.
“The Gourmet? Never heard of you.” the [Hair colour] demon turned on his heel, beginning to walk away when Shuu gave a glare, how dare he turn his back on him!
“Putain, bâtard!” A flash of purple sprouted from the shoulder blade, coiling around his arm as the blade sharpened, aiming to pierce right through the demon’s head only to meet thin air. Confusion flickered for a moment before a grip latched onto the kagune blade, holding it in place.
“I am not interested in fighting, I have other things to occupy my attention and time with.” Another hand shot forward, tightly gripping Shuu’s jaws with the light pricking of claws pressing against his skin, threatening to break the skin. Those crimson eyes piercing through Shuu’s own eyes, a sense of... something fluttering within the ghoul. The feeling of being at risk, that another stronger force was overpowering him. It was strange but tingling. How odd. “Do not push my mercy for allowing you to live, ghoul. Mercy is not my nature.”
“Then why show it to me?” That question earned a tightening from both grips around the kagune and his jaw, and sending that tingling sensation ablaze against his skin. Instead of an answer, he was given a dark glare before he was thrown against the wall, cracking the bricks and even knocking some loose. A grunt left his gritted teeth as his kagune reverted and he looked back up at him. “All of this and I don’t even know your name.” An odd thing to say, but Shuu didn’t care. He wanted to know the name of the demon who sparked such peculiar sensations.
A slow head turn, [Hair colour] strands falling from their position as if trying to hide his eyes again but failed. “[Name] [Surname].” Then a sharp snap of his fingers was made before his entire form vanished into the shadows.
Shuu took a small breath, feeling any bruising on his back fade before chuckling. This evening could not have turned out better if he had planned it.

WWX decides to kill two birds with one stone and with the help of WQ reforges the Stygian Tiger Seal into a artificial golden core replacement which she implants into WWX.
WWXs eyes are now permanently red and he has the full power of the seal at his fingertips at all times because its part of him now.
Another side effect of this Stygian Core is discovered when WWX misses JZXs ambush and is instead attacked and disembowled in Carp Tower in full view of the cultivation world but then immediately regenerates without a scratch and blood ruined robes.
Watching WWX be more annoyed at the bloody robes than being disembowled because the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation has apparently cultivated to immortality USING RESENTMENT shakes a lot of people.
“Huh.” Wen Qing says as she observes yet another failure of Wei Wuxian’s inventions quite literally blow up in his face. “So this Seal of yours protects you?”
Wei Wuxian coughs from the smoke of his busted invention, “Well, yeah. What about it?”
“It’s sentient, correct?”
“Yeah....?”
“Hmm.” Wen Qing observed the Seal slowly bobbing up and down. “Can you circulate resentful energy through the Seal for a moment? Don’t make it do anything. Just channel resentful energy through it like you would if you channeled spiritual energy normally.”
“Okayyy??” Wei Wuxian was perplexed but nevertheless obeyed and watched as Wen Qing’s eyes brightened. “What? What is it? Wen Qing, tell meeeeee! Don’t leave me out!!!!!”
“Brat, I’m trying to concentrate.” She scolded him, but her tone was fond.
Wei Wuxian waited a few more moments before it seemed like Wen Qing had seen enough.
“I want you to calm down when I say this, but I think you can reforge the Seal into a core which I can transfer into you.”
Wei Wuxian was silent......for about two seconds. “............What?”
Wen Qing sighed. “Wei Wuxian, when you channeled resentful energy through the Seal, the Seal acted much like how it would if someone were to channel spiritual energy through their core. The Seal can be made into an artificial core is what I’m saying.”
“I.....you are sure?” Wei Wuxian asked. He knew Wen Qing wouldn’t joke about this.
“Yes. I’m about eighty percent sure this will go well. I can even knock you out when I cut you open this time.”
“I.....okay.” Wei Wuxian was at a loss for words.
“So I’ve rendered you speechless.” Wen Qing smiled. “That kinda feels good.”
Wei Wuxian pouted.
...........
It took a few days to reform the Seal into a form that would resemble a core but Wei Wuxian was a genius and having Wen Qing there to bounce ideas off of helped in giving him a clue as to how a core should look and feel like.
“Are you ready?” Wen Qing asked.
Wei Wuxian, who was one hundred percent not ready, said, “Yes.”
Wen Qing saw through this. “It will be alright.” She squeezed his hand. “This time, it will be alright.”
That was the last thing he heard before he was knocked out.
.
.
.
When he awoke, his eyes had burned for a little before the pain dissipated.
Wen Qing had been in the midst of declaring the operation successful when she suddenly paused, “Huh.”
“What is it?” He asked nervously. Did something go wrong?
“Oh.....it’s, hmm. A’ Ning, get me some water, will you?”
Wen Ning returned not long later and locked eyes with Wei Wuxian. He seemed quite startled and that made Wei Wuxian even more curious. Based on Wen Qing’s reaction, it wasn’t anything bad, but still.....
“Wei Wuxian.”
“Yes?”
“Look at your reflection and you’ll understand why A’ Ning and I looked startled.”
Wei Wuxian did.
And he was shocked to see that his eyes have now become a brilliant shade of red. “What the hell?”
“Mmhm.”
“Why are my eyes red???”
“Well, Wei Wuxian, I’m not sure if anyone’s told you, but you’re aware your eyes turn red everytime you use demonic cultivation, right?”
“Umm, no??”
“Well, they do. And considering what your core is, well. I’m not entirely surprised this happened. It was certainly unexpected though.” She finished cleaning up and left Wei Wuxian to just sit and admire his reflection.
...................
A week and some carefully supervised experiments later, Wei Wuxian had full control over his core. It was really just the same thing as how one would normally use a golden core, so it didn’t take long for him to get the hang of it. However, considering his core is the Seal, he also had the ability to control thousands of corpses and this time without any of the side effects.
He also spent time trying to get Suibian to respond to him using resentful energy. Considering that the sword was a spiritual sword, he was unsure of the compatibility but Suibian seemed to adapt well enough and Wei Wuxian was so glad he didn’t have to give up ever using his beloved sword again.
The next step on his agenda was to update the wards. Using the power of the Seal to strengthen it was a walk in the park and Wei Wuxian finally felt like despite how the cultivation world was always on the verge of killing him and the Wens, they’d be safe. The wards would hold out.
He then started absorbing all the deep-seated resentment in the soil to make it more fertile as well as trying to clear the Burial Mounds resentment by listening to the stories of the dead and helping them pass on. He also painstakingly dug up all the strewn about corpses, burned them and held proper funeral rites for them.
The crops flourished, the Wens and him were well-fed, and the Burial Mounds started to lighten up. Wei Wuxian no longer looked to be on the verge of death and he was able to cultivate without any problem.
Like this, time passed peacefully.
..........................
He was invited to his nephew’s one month celebration not long later and Wei Wuxian decided that this would be a good time to show the cultivation world that he truly is the grandmaster of demonic cultivation they all claim him to be. (In truth, he never considered himself to be any sort of grandmaster considering how little he knew of demonic cultivation, but it was different now.)
He told Wen Ning and the other corpses - of the resentful spirits that stayed behind saying they wanted to help him - to watch for any Jins since he trusted they’d take this chance to attack the Burial Mounds.
After he put on a concealing talisman for his eyes - since he knew that his different eye color would make a huge uproar -, he took to the skies with Suibian and nearly teared up. He’d missed flying. He’d missed this feeling. Laughing happily, he circulated the resentful energy in his core and sped up, becoming a black blur as he flew straight over Qiongqi Path.
When he landed at the foot of Koi Tower, invitation in hand, the Jin guards seemed surprised to see him there but had to let him in, not wanting to offend him.
Jiang Yanli-- no, it was Jin Yanli saw him and waved excitedly, beckoning him over. Out of his sight, Jin Guangyao and Jin Guangshan seemed surprised to see him there.
“A’ Xian!”
“Shijie!” The form of address slipped out.
Her face softened. “You made it!”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world!”
The whispers of the people around him, wondering why he was there, surrounded him, but he ignored it. “Shijie, here’s my present!”
She looked at the bell with a little bit of wonder. “What does it do?”
“It’ll ensure that high level resentful beings and below won’t be able to move!”
“Oh, A’ Xian! This is perfect.”
“Thank you.” Jin Zixuan said, awkwardly. Wei Wuxian had forgotten he was there.
“No need! If it’s for Shijie’s son, I’d do anything!”
“He’s my son, too.”
Wei Wuxian made a face at that. “Well, yeah.”
“Wei Wuxian!” Jiang Cheng called and then stopped. “You have your sword?”
Wei Wuxian shrugged, “Yep!” He twirled around. “I started picking Suibian up again! But let’s not focus on that, Jiang Cheng!”
Jiang Cheng seemed hesitant but dropped it readily enough as they started bickering like they used to.
Suddenly--
“Wei Wuxian!” Someone yelled.
Wei Wuxian groaned. Can one day go on without someone yelling my name with hatred??? Like, please??
“Yeeeeeees?” He drawled tiredly.
And some Jin guy that vaguely looked like Jin Zixuan stomped in, looking murderous. “You, remove the curse that you put on me!!”
Murmurs started up all around them.
“Curse?” Wei Wuxian looked confused. “What curse? And who are you anyway? Am I supposed to know you from somewhere??”
“You know who I am!!”
“No, I don’t actually.” Wei Wuxian scratched his head as he walked forward to get a better look. He really didn’t know!
“That’s Jin Zixun.” His shijie said, coming up to him. “From the Phoenix Mountain hunt?” Before Wei Wuxian could say anything, she continued. “The one that was supposed to apologize to you.”
“Hmm?” Wei Wuxian thought really hard. “Oh! I remember you now!” He said to a rather red-faced Jin Zixun. “Sorry about that buddy, but uhh I didn’t curse you! I didn’t even remember you until now!”
“It must be you! It has to be you!!” He screamed and it was really grating on his nerves. “See! Look at this!” He ripped his robes open and everyone gasped at the evidence of the Hundred Holes curse on his torso.
Wei Wuxian whistled. “Well, that’s quite some curse. But I still didn’t do it.” Jin Zixun looked ready to refute so he continued, “Why would I curse you secretly when I usually make a big production of those I kill?”
People had to admit he had a point.
Jin Zixun continued to scream expletives until he finally rushed forward and in a rather bold move, drew his sword, plunging forward. However, in his anger, he completely missed his target and the direction of the blade pointed towards Jin Yanli.
“A’ Jie!!” Jiang Cheng screamed
Wei Wuxian was the closest to her and pushed her back, stepping in front of her taking the sword to his gut.
“A’ XIAN!!!” “WEI WUXIAN!!” “WEI YING!!” Jin Yanli, Jiang Cheng, and Lan Wangji, who was actually there, all screamed.
And Wei Wuxian who had just been disemboweled, grit his teeth and pulled out the sword. Which, in hindsight, was a horrible decision since blood got everywhere. Though not so much when his stomach stitched itself back together. “................Huh.” I knew I regenerated quickly considering how often I got hurt plowing the fields and digging up the corpses to put them to rest, but damn that was quick. Though..... “My robes!” He fake-cried, turning his attention to a stunned Jin Zixun. “You ruined my robes! I just managed to scrounge up enough money to buy this new pair and you ruined them!!!!” He fretted over the large rip over his abdomen. “What am I going to tell Wen Qing? She just told me not to stain them!”
The entire cultivation just stared at him in silent shock, making Wei Wuxian feel a little self-conscious.
“Uhh, what are all of you staring at me for?”
“Wei Wuxian,” Jiang Cheng said with all the patience of an exasperated brother. “Is that the only thing you can ask?!” He glared, signaling for two Jiang disciples to restrain Jin Zixun from anymore stupid ideas he’d like to enact. “When did you cultivate to immortality?”
“I didn’t??? What do you mean??”
“Wei Ying.” Lan Zhan said, checking him over. “Are you alright?”
“Hmm? I’m a little dizzy considering all the blood I’ve lost, but it’s nothing big!” He grinned. It felt nice to have Lan Zhan care for him rather than fight with him.
“Wei Wuxian, stop flirting with Hanguang-Jun and answer the damn question.”
Wei Wuxian turned his attention back to his brother and pouted at him, missing Lan Wangji’s red ears. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“A’ Xian.” Shijie said and Wei Wuxian abruptly realized her robes had his blood on them.
“Shijie, I’m sorry I got your robes dirty!”
“It’s fine.” She patted him. “But A’ Xian, I know you didn’t pay attention to those lectures, but only immortals can heal from wounds like that that quickly.”
“Really?”
“Mn.” Lan Zhan confirmed.
“Huh. So I’m immortal?”
“Yes.” Jiang Cheng deadpanned. “And you didn’t even notice it. In true Wei Wuxian fashion.”
Lan Zhan frowned then. He had still been checking Wei Wuxian’s pulse. “Wei Ying, what happened to your core?”
“Hmm? .........Oh shit.”
“Why is it covered in resentment?”
“Oh. Umm.” Wei Wuxian really was at a loss for words now. “We can discuss that later?”
“Wei Ying.”
“Aiya, how do you make my name sound like reprimand?”
“Don’t try to deflect the conversation.” Jiang Cheng said, now paying attention.
Wei Wuxian groaned. “Okay. Well, everyone would have found out sooner or later but umm. I might have cultivated to immortality accidentally via demonic cultivation? Haha, ha......”
No one laughed with him. They all looked pretty shaken and Wei Wuxian wanted to laugh at their reaction. He felt pretty detached from it all, to be honest.
“Can we all just forget about this and continue celebrating Jin Ling’s one month celebration?”
And everyone collectively said, “No.”
“Aww.”

Name: Podoboo
Debut: Super Mario Bros.
Before I start this post, I’d like to clear something up. Podoboo? Yes, Podoboo! I’m well aware these enemies are often called Lava Bubbles and that’s the name Nintendo has been trying to make standardised these days, but you know what? You can’t make me! Podoboo is a lot cuter, plus its the name I grew up with and changes in society scare me and cause me to lash out! Maybe Lava Bubble is closer to the Japanese name of just “Bubble”, but since when has that been a factor in any of the localised names? Do you really want to refer as Lakitu as “Jugemu”, huh? I’ll have you know one of my civil rights as a citizen of Wet Dry World is to refer to Mario enemies with whichever official name I please. Like it or leave it!
Tumblr media
So this is a post about Podoboo. Do you like Podoboo? I certainly Podo-do! They are perhaps the most generic design you could give to a Mario enemy, a visibly Dangerous Thing with two eyes, but they have always charmed me! It’s the little things, like their distinct shape and the fact their pupils are somewhat wider than most obstacles like this. They bring me comfort in dire times. No matter what happens, I know Podoboo will be there, jumping at a set height in a particular spot of lava! Without them I would be nothing!
Tumblr media
So simple is their design, isn’t it weird to think they started off as even simpler? The Podoboos in the first SMB game are completely blind, and with no eyes they may as well not be creatures at all! Of course, I’m very glad they are creatures, and their iconic behaviour was there from the start! They love to jump, of course! There is nothing they would rather be doing!
Tumblr media
Awaken! As of Super Mario World, they have been gifted sight and are no longer blind to the sins of this world! Hurray! What do you think they see as they jump up and down? I’m surprised it doesn’t make them dizzy!
Tumblr media
You’ll be glad to hear Podoboos have had an expansive career ever since, now with their new trademark eyes! After all, they are THE lava enemy! Anywhere you’ve got that tasty hot fire juice, these guys are soon to follow! Here they are in Super Mario RPG, called Sparkies here because they couldn’t make up their minds on a localized name and probably because they confused them with Li’l Sparkies. In Yoshi’s Story they even called them Spark Spooks! Geez, I’ll even take the name Lava Bubble over this! But doesn’t this render look nice and juicy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though any great career has its flops, and I have to say... I am usually the first to campaign for the unique designs from the first three Paper Marios, but I do not really like this Lava Bubble! This takes away from their distinct Mario-y charm and makes them look like a Fire Enemy you could find in any other game! Though in the RPGs they are able to float around without needing any lava, the ones in Super Paper Mario act just like the platformer ones, jumping around despite not looking like they should be doing that! Ok!
Tumblr media
The Podoboo from New Super Mario Bros. DS just wasn’t trying very hard at all. Come on! They could’ve it a bit more justice than this!
Tumblr media
Ah, there we go! The Podoboos in New Super Mario Bros. Wii decided to finally stop messing about and go back to what everyone loved from them in Super Mario World. I encourage experimenting with your identity, of course, but it’s good to be back, and now they are more mortal than ever! A single shot from an Ice Flower is enough to instantly vaporize a Podoboo in a puff of smoke, which is a bit scary! Are they really just pure fireballs that can be put out just like that? What a frightening life to live!
Tumblr media
And in Super Mario Galaxy 2, they... hey, wait!! You took away their eyes again! Now you are just being inconsiderate. This outraged me as a kid! One of my most vivid memories of playing this game with my brother involved chanting “Podoboo rights! They deserve eyes!” because this upset me so much. Maybe my past as an activist is why I am so passionate about Mario enemies these days... I think I was 100 percent correct in hindsight, and now you know some of my backstory, too!
Tumblr media
What relief it gave me to find out they were back to their usual selves in 3D Land! And they have been ever since, of course getting redesigned for the modern Paper Mario games and everything.
Tumblr media
What’s this? Blue Podoboos! Podo-blues, even...! They show up in 3D World, in its incredibly cool-looking blue lava levels! It’s a well known fact that blue fire is objectively cooler than red fire, and it seems even the Podoboos wanted in on the action! Blue Lava is an actual phenomenon I’ve just learnt, though it’s a sulfuric fire rather than lava. Could it be that Podoboos, being made entirely of lava, adapt to their environment? I’m not sure...
Tumblr media
As an aside, the blue Lava Bubbles aren’t to be confused with Lava Bubble (Blue), which are from Mario Galaxy and show up during King Kaliente’s fight! They hop around on the ground and have square-ish eyes, which is enough to make them different I guess!
Tumblr media
The Podoboo’s next big appearance, in Super Mario Odyssey, was in Soup! Yes you heard me- Soup! Some delightfully pepto-bismol pink coloured soup, no less. This is why I wasn’t too sure about Podoboo’s being able to adapt to their environment earlier- the Luncheon Kingdom is a big soup volcano after all, but the fact these Lava Bubbles are able to live in it is very interesting!
Tumblr media
There is simply no way I would talk about Odyssey here without talking about possibly its greatest achievement, the best game design decision ever made! After decades of begging from fans, they finally did the impossible- they made Podoboo playable! Now it is Podo-you! It is quite unlike the other captures in the game, since it keeps the Podoboo’s simple-looking eyes and simply adds onto it a nose and a mustache! You may very well be the world’s first Podoboo with a sense of smell! I wonder if that is a benefit or not. The constant smell of soup might be a bit overpowering.
Tumblr media
Not only is this delightful, but it gives us more insight into the life of the humble Podoboo. First of all is the fact that they can swim around in lava, not just jump in one spot! Do you think they do this when we aren’t looking? I really hope so! Imagine a school of Podoboos swimming through molten lava in a castle’s moat. How delightful!
Tumblr media
The Luncheon Kingdom is also home to a number of Lava cannons, marked with a Podoboo’s lovely face. These are cannons for only for Podoboos to launch themselves across the kingdom, from one body of lava to another! My question is whether this was technology made by Podoboos themselves or whether it was made by some generous Podoboo lovers as some lava equivalent to the Fish Tube. I think I would take either explanation!
Tumblr media
And last I have a Podoboo appearance that even I, the world’s biggest Podoboo fan, didn’t know about! Paper Mario Color Splash has a Big Lava Bubble boss which speaks with you through a Shy Guy translator! It is quite upset that you barged into its volcano and decided to change the temperature. Mario, of course, kills it anyway, and also the Shy Guy translator without a second thought.
Tumblr media
Still, just take a look at this sprite sheet! How cute! A little disappointing that they thinned out the eyes, but wow! They more than make up for it with this range of expressions! An angry Podoboo! A sad Podoboo! And my personal favorite is of course the shocked Podoboo with its assymetrical dot eyes, which might be one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
To be honest, I could talk about Podoboo forever! If you didn’t stop me, I would go on all day about their every appearance, but I kind of had to limit myself to some of the most relevant ones. I just think they’re neat! And cute! And silly! Besides, I’m Mod F Boy, so I’m basically obliged to talk about fireballs with eyes! But for now I must bid you Pod-adieu!
...Not! What, did you really believe me? Well you clicked the Keep Reading button, so you only have yourself to blame for this. Here I am talking about more Lava Bubbles from all over, because Lava Bubble’s career has taken it BEYOND the Mario series! Wow!
Tumblr media
Podoboo’s had quite a few appearance in the Zelda series, appearing in Link’s Awakening, both the Oracle games, and even Cadence of Hyrule! Their Zelda wiki page is still called Podoboo instead of Lava Bubble, which means those Zelda fans have it better than we do. But wow, this is a pretty angry looking Podoboo! I wouldn’t mess with them!
Tumblr media
Both the Oracle games even had a Podoboo Tower! Amazing! They look quite a lot like a Fire Snake, but they are simply a tower of Podoboos! Why don’t they do this more often?
Tumblr media
Hm... The Cadence of Hyrule one doesn’t have any eyes. Come on guys! It’s 2019! Podoboos having eyes should be standard! Though they still made the conscious decision to call them “Podoboos” in 2019, so I can’t be too mad.
Tumblr media
And they have even spread to Minecraft! In the Mario Mash-up Pack, they replace the Magma Cube enemies, and really there was no better choice for this. And now we have a Podoboo Cube! What more could possibly be left for Podoboo?
Tumblr media
The answer is obvious- Podoboo in real life! Thanks to a certain Lego Mario set, Podoboo is now real and can be in your home for the small price of 19,99 US dollars. Please give a Podoboo a home today! Just make sure you don’t own anything flammable.

attempt #37
This was the 52nd formula that Lena had come up with, the 45th solution that she had to wait several hours to synthesize, but only the 37th time she was injecting her shoulder with the resulting concoction.
It was bright green this time, which only made it seem all the more promising.
There’s a rush and some mild nausea that Lena had come to expect with the experiments, but everything else felt the same. For now. Setting the syringe aside, Lena called out, “Hope, think of a number between one and a million.”
Then, for the 37th time, Lena tried. She cleared her own mind, practiced the meditative mantras, stared intently into Eve’s eyes, bright blue yet blank with Hope’s quiet disinterest, and... nothing. Not a single digit came to mind.
No matter how hard Lena tried, the only thoughts in her head were her own.
With an exasperated sigh, Lena rolled her sleeve back down and directed Hope to log their latest attempt as yet another failure before storming off to start her day.
//
Lena emerged from the laboratory with wrinkled clothes and dark circles sunken around her eyes, which was probably why the first thing she heard as she stepped out of the elevator was her personal assistant’s hushed commentary of, Oh sweet Jesus, she looks tired.
“Oh, I’m well aware, Hector,” Lena said, lofty and without much malice. “Nothing a little coffee can’t fix though.”
Hector stared at her blankly. “I’m sorry, Miss Luthor?”
“Never mind,” Lena said, rolling her eyes. She took the outstretched coffee in question as she walked by the assistant’s desk. “Just hold all my calls until the afternoon, please.”
This time, when Hector grumbled under his breath about wow, she must be grumpy too, Lena ignored it. There were better things for the CEO to tackle, after all; as for example, some fitful sleep on her couch, perhaps?
Hours later, Lena was relatively well-rested, so she pored over her notes again, trying to pinpoint the exact variable she must have overlooked in her carelessness. Because by all accounts, the formula should have worked—Lena had been certain of it. But then again, she’d admittedly thought that of almost every attempt thus far.
When Hector walked into her office at some point in the late afternoon with a handful of contracts to be signed, Lena felt no closer to the solution and a slight headache coming on.
“Is there anything else I can help you with?”
“Another coffee would be great,” Lena said, as she sifted through the documents.
“Oh my God, if she takes in any more caffeine, her heart’s going to literally explode...” Hector muttered to himself. “Well, maybe she won’t notice if I get her decaf instead...?”
Lena dropped the papers onto her desk with a scoff. “You know I can hear you, right?”
Hector appeared startled, which seemed rather appropriate until he slowly said, “So... was that a yes on the espresso?”
“What?”
Hector maintained his slow cadence, carefully enunciating every syllable as if he were repeating himself, “Did you want to stick with your usual order... or maybe go with an espresso... because it’s a little stronger?”
But in a normal cadence, also in Hector’s voice and somehow clear as a bell in Lena’s head came, “If this woman doesn’t get another nap in pronto, she is going to drop dead, and everyone’s going to think I poisoned her coffee, because she’s always in—”
Absolutely stunned, Lena continued to stare up at Hector in silence, eyes narrowing as the assistant’s slightly panicked voice droned on and on in her head. Until a louder remark broke through the reverie.
“Whoa, did she just fall asleep with her eyes open?”
Lena blinked quite obviously, and her mild shock was accompanied with a loud and clear, yet unspoken Oh, thank God! from Hector.
But the Hector standing before her hadn’t moved his lips once, only watching the bewilderment play out on Lena’s face with some polite concern.
“The usual’s fine,” Lena interjected before her assistant could press again. “Or the espresso, or whatever. I don’t care, as long as it’s still hot and caffeinated.”
“You got it,” Hector said.
“Definitely getting her decaf,” Hector thought as he turned to leave, but Lena hardly minded. She was too busy restructuring the rest of her day around this most exciting realization.
After some quick bit of arithmetic in her head, Lena set a timer on her watch for five hours, which was presumably the amount of time it would take for her body to break down the serum and render it useless. Then she logged on to her private interface and happily directed Hope to re-record attempt #37 as a success.
//
The ability to read minds was, quite simply, quite the advantage.
Though it wasn’t so much “mind-reading,” as mind-receiving. The serum seemed to have granted Lena access to the loud and active thought processes of everyone around her—their inner monologue, if you will, everything put into words but left unsaid.
Lena had been hoping for more, to be able to break into other people’s minds so as to hack secrets, determine why supposed close friends would ever betray her, and the like. Maybe that would come with time and practice.
But as it turned out, there was rather plenty to be gleaned from the forefront of someone’s mind, as people often thought about the things they weren’t supposed to say before choosing more palatable means of expression. Which made the rest of Lena’s workday somewhat informative, if not a little fun.
For one thing, Lena found out that a lot more of her employees enjoyed working for her than she had thought. All of them respected her, several feared her, and quite a fair few entertained invasive thoughts about her décolletage before swiftly directing their attention elsewhere.
She also found out there was one board member in particular who liked to fudge the numbers during meetings, and that his face took on a very unappealing shade of off-white when Lena could inexplicably confront him with the actual results of his findings.
But most importantly of all, what Lena found out was that... she actually enjoyed this heretofore inaccessible sense of control this ability afforded her. She had taken on the experiments for a very specific purpose, but now, it was difficult to even imagine going back to how things were, even after the fact.
//
Lena walked into the DEO, and for the first time, the outpouring of distrust attached to the Luthor name was all but imagined. The disparaging thoughts followed her, even as the people who had them smiled or averted their eyes as she passed.
Nothing she wasn’t used to though.
Alex’s voice slid into Lena’s head in a whisper—... the hell?—one whole minute before she actually greeted her, “Lena, hey... Well, can’t say that I was expecting you.”
“Yes, that’s what it sounds like,” Lena mused, and Alex gave her a slight frown.
“So, did you need something?”
“Where’s Kara? I want to talk to her.”
Alex’s carefully composed face betrayed no emotion, but her thoughts sighed heavily, “Of course...” before ebbing away into something entirely indistinct and indecipherable.
Lena blinked. She hadn’t encountered anyone whose thoughts weren’t immediately accessible to her before. But here Alex was, giving directions to Kara’s current whereabouts, all the while muttering some underlying commentary in tones so hushed that Lena couldn’t quite make out any of it.
“... Is there something on my face?” Alex swiped her sleeve across her forehead. “What are you looking at?”
“What? No, nothing,” Lena said brusquely. “Thank you for telling me where Kara is. Bye.” She turned on her heel, headed for the hallway that would eventually lead to the training room.
“Well, that was weird...” Alex’s voice drifted after her, a literal afterthought. “But I mean, I guess she has a nice ass, so—”
Lena shot a dirty look over her shoulder, but Alex was already back on her computer, mind rattling off coordinates and running through tactical drills like a well-oiled machine.
//
Kara was wearing short shorts and a sports bra, panting, and absolutely drenched in sweat when Lena stepped foot into the training room. She looked over at Lena, her skin glistening against the dimmed green of the kryptonite-lined walls, and smiled wide.
“Oh, hey! What are you doing here?” Kara asked, giving the punching bag one last jab before tugging her gloves off. "Did something happen or...? I mean, not that I’m not happy to see you, of course.” She flashed Lena another bright grin before pressing a towel to her face and neck and chest.
It was enough to stop Lena in her tracks, and almost enough to put a damper on her plans. Almost.
“I need to talk to you,” Lena said evenly, eyes glued firmly to Kara’s forehead.
“Yeah, sure! Jeez... I’d give you a hug, but I’m like sweating in places I didn’t even know existed. Alex says that this is the only way to learn proper form and all, but wow. I can’t believe there are humans who actually do this for fun—”
“Kara,” Lena cut in, lips pursing in exasperation. “I’m serious. We need to talk right now.”
Kara blinked, then slowly nodded. “Okay, yeah, let’s talk... You wanna sit down?”
“I prefer to be standing.”
“Okay.” Kara remained standing as well, towel now crumpled in her hands. “So, what’s going on?”
Lena took a deep breath, quickly running through the meditative techniques meant to keep her mind clear and open, then asked, “Why did it take you so long to tell me that you’re Supergirl?”
Kara’s shoulders slumped. “Lena, I...”
“No, why did it take three years? Why didn’t you trust me?” Lena continued, her pace steady and firm just like she had practiced. “I trusted you. I trusted you with every part of me, which is extremely difficult for me to do, and you just... didn’t care, I guess.”
“Of course, I care. Lena... I never meant to hurt you,” Kara said insistently. Her voice was loud, emphatic, and at the moment, the only thing Lena could hear.
“Don’t!” Lena snapped when Kara started to approach her. “Don’t come any closer. And stop talking! Just listen.”
Kara exhaled sharply through her nose and raised her hands in tentative surrender in absolute, utter silence. Lena even paused for a beat or two, just to see if any of Kara’s thoughts would breach the surface, but none did.
“Why couldn’t you just trust me, Kara?” Lena asked, and regrettably her voice trembled on the last syllable. “Why did I have to hear it from Lex?”
Kara’s eyes widened. “Lex? Lex told you before I did?”
“Shut up. Do not talk,” Lena hissed out, waiting for Kara to snap her jaw shut before continuing with a bitter laugh, “Do you, do you even trust me now...?” Kara stared, gaze hardening. “And how do you expect me to trust anything you have to say for yourself now?”
Lena’s questions—all of the above and beyond—were met with silence, strained only by the sound of Kara’s heavy breath and Lena’s own thoughts.
Scoffing, Lena threw up her hands. “Do you even care that you hurt me?”
“... Can I talk now?” Kara demanded, seething like she had any right to it. But when Lena shook her head furiously, she held her tongue and apparently everything else as well, because Lena couldn’t hear a single damn thing.
When the alarm on her watch went off, Lena left, slamming the door on her way out. She contacted Hope through their private channel and had her re-log attempt #37 as just another failure.
Back to the fucking drawing board.

Some Words of Comfort.
Recently, I’ve seen a lot of people (especially those who have read spoilers/are actively searching for leaked content) lament about their future reactions to the deaths of our beloved characters in-game.
We all knew this was inevitable, and that them living was not an option for the plot of the game, but the time has finally come to face it head-on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I understand that someone outside this community might be like “it’s just a game”, but I know it’s way more than that to many: the concept of a female villain that, to many, can be seen as sympathizable and even endearing, is a bit of a new concept— especially on such a large scale as this instance.
In addition, Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters have become a bit of a comfort item for some (with an emphasis on sapphics/wlw, from what I’ve seen personally) in the form of a large, protective, and caring hypothetical partner, or even just a maternal character one can appreciate simply because of her love for her children. Regardless, most of us are here due to some desire for comfort.
Take my own story with this community, for example:
(tws for death, covid, suicide, and general medical emergencies)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frankly, 2020 and the beginning of 2021 have ruined me. I lost two men who were the only two positive father figures I’ve ever had. The last of the two tested positive for covid and deteriorated within days, to the point where less than a week after testing positive, my family was making the choice to pull the plug. This all occurred days before Christmas and my birthday. On the first day of the spring semester, having not had the time to properly mourn my grandfather, my mother is in the ER for multiple days with an internal infection that doctors said likely would have turned septic if she had waited to come in any longer. This led to three surgeries throughout the next few months. (Oh, and one of my relatives quite literally dropped dead on that first day of class, too). I am also estranged from one of my parents, and they have been trying to contact my family: they have multiple untreated mental illnesses (severe NPD, bipolar, and more) and they are extremely aggressive in that state of mind and they are agitated extremely easily. That only brings more stress, along with resurfacing trauma and related emotions. Every moment of every day has been a struggle. So much so that I failed half of my classes voluntarily simply because I couldn't do them anymore.
To be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t expect to be here right now. I expected that the pain of simply moving forward would have finally overridden my fears of death and that I would have already ended my suffering by now.
Then, in late January, I saw something trending on Twitter. About a new female villain in an upcoming horror game. And it went from there.
As cheesy as it sounds, this fandom and its content seriously saved my life. In the darkest of days, I’ve come to this tag for comfort. The oddest way I found said comfort was through those who were attracted to Alcina aesthetically. I have extremely long-term trauma related to being bullied and being the victim of a hybrid catfishing/'Oreo Game' on early social media by peers in middle school to the point where I do not think of myself as being able to be loved, let alone being worthy of it. Finding this community not only provided a great form of escapism (and opened a door into a fantasy world where I could imagine my own person vampire milf gf), but also gained a little bit of self-esteem (as many of you know, I share a lot of visual qualities with Alcina. -yes, I'm still kinda freaked out about it-) via seeing people where features/attributes like mine were actively praised and desired rather than insulted and pushed away like they have been until now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(okay sorry that kinda turned into a trauma dump but I needed to emphasize the fact that this community has seriously helped me during a really dark point in my life, and I know I can't be the only one with that sort of experience)
What I’m trying to get across here is that, like many others, this community and its content have been comforting and therapeutic, and it really is more than just a game to us. It’s entertaining and even a form of escapism in these extremely trying times. We all have some degree of PTSD from surviving a literal mass plague— and this is something we're using as a method of coping. a distraction. a coping mechanism.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With that being said, here are some ways to hopefully assist in lessening the emotional stress:
(please note that I am not a mental health professional and these may not be healthy coping mechanisms for everyone.)

Understand that it’s just a game.
I know, this sounds completely counterintuitive, but it’s more or less about keeping your level of immersion down. Personally, I can’t do scary shit in general: I have to listen to music on low volume while watching dark ARG vids at night or when I’m alone because I get too into it, and then my paranoia kicks in. Sometimes just pausing for a moment and grounding yourself/reminding yourself that this is a video game: a jumble of code and 3D rendering that doesn’t have to affect your views/headcanons if you don’t want it to. Did your favorite character just get slaughtered? Nope, that 3D rendering of them just got un-alived, that’s all.

Ignorance is Bliss/We are the Captain Now

Simple: Capcom can’t even pronounce Dimitrescu right, or even acknowledge the way it’s correctly said in Romanian culture itself. How can you trust them to give you a perfect canon? That’s the thing: with that logic, you can’t. What they say is true means little (if anything, for that matter) to your headcanons and preexisting ideas of the Dimitrescus. In short: fuck ‘em.
I’m currently seeking a double major in pop culture, and one of the cool things I’ve learned so far is affirmational vs transformational fandom. Affirmational is where official canon is seen as the law of the land, and followed to a T. Transformational is seen as much more inviting for audiences, allowing them to bend canon as they wish to fit their own creations. This fandom is obviously transformational, so take that game canon, rip it up, and get back to whatever you were doing.
Capcom’s canon is not the end-all, be-all. Far from it, actually.
Want to still acknowledge canon? Godmod your way out of it.

Character A died? It’d be a shame if they emerged from the rubble they 'died in' a few hours later, very beaten but alive nonetheless... how awful would it be if they sulked away, nursed their wounds, and continued to live... (/s)

Ignore it completely.
Tumblr media
Remember: give it time. Once the game drops, there w be a wave of grief, but eventually, we as a community will recover, and get back to business as usual. Think about it like the in any way. Stay with the version in your head that makes you happy.
Get Creative!
Tumblr media
If you're into creating fanart, writing fics, or even just posting a list of headcanons, take some advice from the late Carrie Fisher: "Take your broken heart, and make it into art". Make the fluff oneshot of your dreams! Draw the fanart you've been wanting to! dump lighthearted headcanons into the tags! Not only will it cheer you up, but sharing it with the community will spread the love!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know a lot of people are struggling with this emotionally (especially with the pandemic making entertainment like this even more important sources of escapism and coping mechanisms) and I hope that, at the very least, I was able to help comfort one person who reads this.
Remember: give it time. Once the game drops, there will be a wave of grief, but eventually, we as a community will recover, and get back to business as usual. Think about it like the flowers that bloom after major wildfires: after a period of loss, some beautiful can still come of it.

Tumblr media
It was only a matter of time before your teasing became too much for the Fatui Harbinger. You’d traveled to Liyue Harbor out of boredom, after having a fight with your brother over something you couldn’t remember now. It didn’t matter now that you’d found someone to play with. And Childe was unlike anyone you’d ever met.
“Going to retire early? How boring.” You had been waiting for him outside of Northland Bank, in the shadows, planning on sneaking up on him on the way to your usual tavern. You’d been most shocked when he’d gone straight back to the place he was staying instead. It was irritating to see him blow you off so easily, so you’d decided to tease him about it.
He didn’t startle easily. On the contrary, Childe wore a smirk that said he’d expected this, expected you to follow him here, like a spider drawing the moth into its web, where escape was impossible. “Oh, I have no intentions of that. I merely wanted to see how far you’d follow me. It’s rather bold of you to come so close to someone’s bedroom. I might get the wrong idea.”
He wasn’t like others you toyed with. The Harbinger liked to play with you and didn’t worship at your feet as the people of Liyue did. He wasn’t enamored, nor pulled in by your charm. He had you chasing after him, a new experience. “The wrong idea? Whatever do you mean?” You batted your lashes, peeking from under them with feigned innocence.
Humans were oh so gullible. They fell for the act without much effort, tripping over themselves with heated cheeks and stuttered, incoherent apologies. They’d never be so bold as to proposition an Adeptus.
“I want you, little miss Adeptus.”
You were surprised, blinking in confusion. Did he outright ask for you? An Adeptus? It was frustrating. You were the one to play with humans, not the other way around. You’d only let your gaze fall away for a moment, debating how to approach this... how to win. How to make him beg for you.
Childe was quick, calculated. He’d rushed you, pressing your chest against the wall and using his weight to keep you there, expertly tying your wrists together behind your back. “You let your guard down. You’re my captive, now.” His tone dripped with smugness.
“You’re still human.” Snapping the ropes was child’s play for someone with your power. It was cute that he thought that these could... hold... you? You tugged and tugged but the ropes wouldn’t give. “What did you do?”
Childe snickered, placing a kiss on your exposed shoulder while his gloved fingers lightly traced up your thigh and under your skirt. “That was so adorable. I’m thrilled it worked.” He nipped at a sensitive spot on your neck, eliciting a moan from your lips. “I asked a mutual friend to supply with me an interesting artifact that suppresses your Adepti powers. You can’t see it, but I do have to say the bracelet looks beautiful on your wrist.”
Did an artifact like that even exist? It must, otherwise you couldn’t imagine how this was possible. “Zhongli--” He was the only one with access to such an object. Heat flooded your cheeks. Surely, Childe wouldn’t have told him what he wanted it for.
His fingers slipped into your panties, sliding between your legs. “Ah, look how wet you are. Were you wanting me to do this to you?” He loved the way you were unafraid to talk back to him, but he’d never had the ability to shut you up like he wanted.
Until now.
“Without your powers, you’re practically a human, and we both know who’s stronger now.” Childe rubbed your clit as he spoke. Normally, the two of you were evenly matched, as he was stronger than the average human. But you could hold your own.
Somehow, you felt so small now. Childe towered over you, his body caging you against the wall. And you liked it.
“Is that why you tied my hands? If you’re so much stronger -- Ah-” You gasped as he thrust two fingers into your wet cunt.
“You’re mine tonight. So, I’ll do whatever I want, and you’ll have no choice but to take it.”
You’d never heard a man sound so sexy before. His deep voice filled with a threat that sounded more of a promise to your ears. Humans were your playthings. Feebly creatures that you had your fun with. But you weren’t unaware that it was lacking. You craved this treatment.
Childe trailed kisses up your neck, nibbling on the lobe of your ear. “Unless you want me to stop. Simply say the word and I’ll leave. Otherwise, I’m going to take you to my room,” he paused to trace his tongue along the shell of your ear, sending a shiver down your body, “and I’m going to abuse you with pleasure until I’m satisfied. All. Night. Long.”
He’d given you an out, fully confident that you wouldn’t take it. Not with how your pussy clenched around his fingers. Not with your hips rocking against his hand, desperate for more than the languid pace he moved.
You wanted the abuse. You wanted to know what it felt like to be used and dominated by someone. It would feel so good to have him fill you up with his cock and make you cum over and over. Perhaps until you were begging him to stop.
The thought alone alighted your desire.
A whine passed your lips at his slow menstruation. “Please-” Each brush of his thumb across your clit sent a jolt of pleasure up your body. It wasn’t enough. You needed more.
But he wouldn’t give in so easily. “Please what? Let you go? Keep going? I’m getting a lot of mixed signals here.” Childe stilled his hand, chuckling at the frustration on your features. How he wished to see your face contort with pure ecstasy with only the pleasure he could provide. You’d certainly feel amazing on his cock, he was sure. So tight around his just fingers.
He would make you say it.
“Stop being an asshole and take me already!” You threw him a glare, annoyed and completely turned on by his attitude. You were taken by surprise when his hand clamped down over your mouth, fingers digging into your cheek.
“Seems I have a bit of brat on my hands. I’ll have to thoroughly fix that, won’t I?” Childe promised. He did so adore how you couldn’t fully give up your behavior. The mighty Adeptus now rendered helpless and under his control. It would be oh so fun to break you down into the slut he knew you were.
Voices floated down the hallway, heading in your direction. But Childe didn’t move you, instead thrusting his fingers up into your pussy quickly, grinding his palm roughly against your clit.
Surely, he wouldn’t risk you being caught. You couldn’t cum here, in the hallway, out in the open, when at least two of his subordinates were about to round the corner. But you had no choice.
“You’re so tight, little miss Adeptus. Are you excited? Admit it. You want them to find us here, to find you in such a shameful mess. A might Adeptus at the mercy of a lowly human, about to cum all over my hand. Should I wait for them? Show them how dirty you are?”
You shook your head, attempting to deny his words. But it made you weak in the knees. What would it be like to have them watch? Would they get hard? Would they tease her and spit on her? Call her words that no one dared? You were thankful for his hand over your mouth, muffling the moan that tumbled from your lips as you came so hard. Childe was unrelenting his assault on your pussy, letting you ride out the orgasm fully.
His cock was rock hard. He refrained from taking you right there. If you could see how you looked right now... at his mercy. He could pound you against this wall, right now, and have his subordinates discover you creaming all over his cock, a babbling mess. It was tempting.
“I want you all to myself tonight.” Childe caught you as your wobbly legs gave out. The thrill of almost being caught had given you an orgasm unlike any you’d had before. He threw you over his shoulder with a playful smack to your ass. “Don’t go quiet on me now. We’ve just begun.”
“Asshole. We were almost caught!” You said between pants. Obviously letting him know how much it had affected you would only feed his ego. And you couldn’t give that to him.
Childe was quick to take you to his room, not about to let that comment go. He only set you on your feet long enough to expertly strip you of your clothes before tossing you onto the bed. He tongue traced over his lips, blue eyes raking over your naked form. “What a treat. I wonder how many men have seen you like this?”
The hidden meaning behind his words evident to the both of you. She’d had intercourse before. You were thousands of years old. But you were always in control. Now, stripped of everything, including your powers, you were vulnerable, exposed. He could do anything to you, and you were unable to stop it.
Completely under his control.
And slightly embarrassed as Childe made no effort to remove his own clothing. He assessed you as a predator would its prey. The Harbinger was quick, hooking his arm under your knee the second you attempted to close your legs.
“Now, now. I want to see all of what’s mine, girlie.” Childe easily avoided the strike of your other leg, amused by your feeble attempt to kick him. He caught your ankle, now controlling both your legs. You truly were without your powers, and that thought alone made his cock twitch. He could do anything. You were his.
You turned your head away but frowned. “Stop teasing me. I want you to--” It was hard to say it. You were always the one teasing, asking if they really wanted you. How they wanted you. Winding them up tighter and tighter. Your pride unable to say the words you forced others to.
His tender kiss against your ankle a different pace to his rough treatment in the hallway. “What was that? You want me to...” He trailed off, placing kisses along your calf. If he were in the mood, he could worship your entire body with only his mouth. He’d save that for another time. He was well aware of what you truly wanted.
“Seriously? You’re going to play dumb? Untie my hands and let me show you what I can do even without my powers. Ouch!” You squealed as he bit hard on your inner thigh, licking away the pain with his hot tongue.
“I think I understand.” Childe said, nodding his head as he pondered his next move. He unceremoniously dropped both your legs, crawling onto the bed on top of you, taking a rough kiss from your lips. His hand clamped down on your throat, cutting off your air. His blue irises reflecting a demand for compliance.
Your struggle was useless. Without your hands, all you could do was writhe underneath him.
“This is what you want, isn’t it? Someone to be rough with you? It must be hard when the Adepti are so revered. I’ll be no one had ever given you a real good fucking, like you so clearly want. Poor thing. I’ll fix that for you.” He lessened his hold on your throat, just enough to allow you to suck in a gulp of air. His head tilted to the side ever so slightly. “Are you going to be a good girl, and do as I say, or do I need to continue to show you who you belong to?”
Childe loved the defiant look melting off your features. It was refreshing, having someone challenge him. But he was going to take this opportunity to absolutely ruin you. And he knew you’d let him. Because in all your years, you’d never been submissive to anyone. Adepti were above humans, but now you are nothing more than a human girl in the hands of the big, bad Harbinger.
“That’s a good girl. Open your mouth.” He instructed, positioning himself up on his knees, tugging his pants down to free his throbbing cock. As he waited, he stripped off his shirt, tossing it onto the floor behind him.
In all your years, you’d never allowed anyone to actually use your mouth. A teasing lick here or your hand to rile the man up but humans were there to serve you. You let them cum on your tits or stomach, never in your mouth. Besides that, you were enthralled by his nearly perfect cock, length and girth, with a little curve that would undoubtedly aid in hitting that sweet spot in your pussy.
“Come on,” Childe said, prodding the tip against your pink lips, precum coating as lipstick would. He could be achingly gentle when he wanted to be, stroking your cheek with his gloved fingers. As if he was aware that this was a first for you.
You parted your lips, heart leaping in your chest when he praised you. It barely fit, filling up your mouth so much that it ached. Childe’s guttural moan made heat flood to your cheeks.
He started out slow, slipping in and out of your mouth. Childe entangled his fingers into your silky hair, jerking your head back to create a better angle. “Breath through your nose.”
It escaped you as to why he’d say such a thing, until he thrust forward, all the way to the back of your throat. You gagged, the feeling completely foreign and it did limit your breathing.
“Keep your eyes open. Watch me fuck your mouth,” Childe demanded, giving you a smack on your cheek. He picked up speed, hitting the back of your throat over and over. Each time his cock hit, you felt it in your cut.
Spit drooled out the sides of your mouth. You probably looked disgusting, choking on his hard dick. Even tears spilled from your eyes. It was unbecoming of an Adeptus, but you wanted to hear more of his moans. Your legs started to twitch, thighs rubbing together for the tiniest amount of friction.
A smirk tugged on his lips. “Oh, someone is desperate for attention, aren’t they? But you look so pretty taking all of my cock. I’ll bet I’m the first to ever see you like this. Swallow it all for me.” He gritted his teeth, moaning between his words. A few more deep thrusts and he shot his load down your throat, warm and sticky.
As he pulled out, you sucked in a deep breath, able to fully breathe again. You coughed, keeping it from going down your windpipe. Although hazy, you could tell he was already ready to continue. You’d slept with a lot of humans, but they’d always quit after cumming once, even if you hadn’t gotten off.
“Untie my arms-” You said through your pants. Your entire body was oh so hot.
But Childe chuckled, leaning back against the headboard. “If you want me so badly, then come here, little miss Adeptus.” He threw out the nickname only he used, taunting you to make a move. It was a damned situation either way.
You whined loudly, kicking your legs. “You can’t abandon me at the good part! I AM an Adeptus and--”
His hand was at your throat in an instant, but he smiled down at you. “I wouldn’t finish that sentence if I were you. I do believe I told you that the bracelet takes away your power. But if you want to play the power game, I’m more than willing.” He didn’t squeeze, only threatening to.
You were silent, gauging how serious he was. You’d seen this side of him countless times in battles together. Ruthless.
“I’m sure as a revered Adeptus, you’ve never had to beg for anything. Humans bowing down in your presence. But right now, you’re nothing more than my plaything. So, if you want me to fuck you, to make you cum over and over, then beg. Prove to me that you want my cock more than anyone else.”
Childe only waited for a second more before sighing dramatically. “Ah, well. Be that way.” He climbed from the bed, pulling up his pants to hand loosely around his waist. “This was fun. Good luck freeing yourself from those ropes.”
He was really going to leave. No, you couldn’t allow that. Not with the heat pooling in your core, thighs slick with your own juices. You need release. And he was the only one who could give it to you. Your head hit the mattress, causing it to squeak. “Wait! Don’t leave me.”
But you got no response. Frustration built up in your body. When your eyes found him again, he was at the door, not even bothering to give you a glance. Tears pooled in your eyes. You needed him to come back. “Please! Childe! I need it. I can’t stand how much I need you!”
“Go on. I’m listening,” Childe toyed with you more, approaching the spot where you writhed on the bed. He loved the way your chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. Your body a sight, really. Otherworldly. He couldn't pass up an opportunity to have you, although it was cute that you believed him.
Gloved fingers trailed over your thighs. You bit down on your lip hard enough to draw blood. “You’re the only human I’d let do this to me. So, fuck me! Please!” It was the truth. You couldn’t imagine another human who could light your body on fire without having even entered you yet.
“Desperation makes you look so pretty, but I’ll bet you’ll look even better cumming around my cock,” He teased, ghosting his hand over your pussy just to see your hips buck forward. His gaze traveled over your trembling body. “Be sure to cry out for me as loud as you can.”
You whined when he pulled you to the edge of the bed, resting one of your legs against his shoulder. His tip prodded your entrance. “Don’t go soft on me now,” You barely got the words out. “Ah-”
Childe went easy until he’d sank fully into you, your walls barely adjusting to his size with a satisfied moan. “You’re so wet for me. Perfect for this-” He didn’t give time to think, snapping his hips back and forward with an intense pace. “Keep squeezing me like that.”
It wasn’t intentional. The curve of his cock hitting against your g-spot and how full he made you. Your pussy wanted to feel it more and more, harder and harder. “More-” You were losing your grip on reality, only able to focus on his ramming into you.
The Harbinger smirked. You’d only barely taken what he had in store for you, but you were already so far gone. “Cum for me.” He rubbed his fingers over your sensitive, swollen clit, a little too hard.
And you were oh so sensitive. Stars erupted in your eyes, toes curled, and your legs quivered as the coil snapped and you spiraled into the abyss of pleasure. It hardly sounded like your own voice coming from your mouth, noises you’d never made before spilling from your lips.
“Shit-” He was struggling to keep his pace with how tight your cunt had gotten, milking his cock. You nearly pushed him out, but he leaned down, pushing both your legs back toward your chest and thrusting you through the orgasm.
The room was spinning when you finally opened your eyes. Has anyone ever made you cum so hard before? “Hurts-” The muscles in your shoulders were aching from being pulled back by your tied wrists. “Take them off-”
Childe complied, freeing you from the ropes and bringing your red wrists up his lips, kissing them gently. He hadn’t intended to make you bleed but apparently, you’d been tugging so much that it had caused the rope to scratch your skin raw.
“It’ll heal.” You said, finally able to sit up without assistance, reaching out to wrap your arms around his neck. “Don’t stop now.” You pressed a kiss to the side of his head, languidly rocking your hips.
“I wasn’t planning to,” Childe retorted, easily lifting you off the bed, still all the way inside your drenched pussy. A showoff to the end. He had no issue holding you up, only using the wall to allow you to lean back, giving him access to your breasts that bounced with each thrust.
He dipped his head down to scrape his teeth over your hard nipple, biting gently and licking away the pain. You entangled your fingers into his soft hair, clinging to him with all the strength you had left. Breathy whines escaped your lips. Not as rough as before, but the changed position hit differently.
“Ah - I’m gonna-” Words were too difficult to form. Your legs loosened around his waist, but Childe’s arm tightened around your waist, holding you up. His lips exploring your breasts and up your collar, leaving marks to be found in the morning.
The third orgasm of the night left you speechless. Your mouth was open, but no sounds came out. It felt so good. You never wanted this feeling to end. Your walls clenching around his cock sent him over the edge as well. Childe came inside you without a second thought.
He made a few more languid thrusts, capturing your lips in a sloppy kiss. Neither of you could catch your breath but wanted to taste each other a little longer. But your bodies were exhausted, and Childe managed to get you to the bed and cover you both up with the covers.
His final thought before falling asleep was how cute you were cuddled up against him. He brushed his fingers through your hair, kissing your head tenderly.
                                                    << << <<
You arrived back at Wangshu Inn around dawn. Your escapade for the night over, and Childe had been called in for some emergency. Staying in his room after he left was strange, so you decided to go back home. You gave a halfhearted wave to Boss on the long walk up to the top floor. Were there always this many stairs?
“You stayed out all night again.”
The nagging voice of your brother this early in the morning was very annoying. “Were you worried, Xiao?” You flopped onto the bed, not bothering to get under the covers, or even fully crawl onto it. You were sore, but in the best way.
Xiao rolled his eyes, already aware of what you had been up to. He’d been witness to your escapades for centuries. Some more serious than others, always the one to pick up the pieces when the human inevitably didn’t meet your standards and your heart was broken.
“Don’t give me that look.”
“What look?”
You squint your eyes at him. “That look. The one that says, ‘You’re being irresponsible and going to end up hurt again.’ There are no feelings involved. Just sex, which by the way, you should try. It might mellow you out. Loosen up all those tense muscles- oof” You hadn’t the energy to block his chop to your head. Lifting any part of your body would be near impossible.
“At least get under the covers,” Xiao said, refusing to indulge in your teasing. He was a good brother, though. He took your shoes off before tugging the comforter back and getting you settled. “Get some sleep.”
“Only if you go get laid.” You grinned at his frown. He never spoke of any of his intimate relations with humans. It might have made anyone else wonder if he’d ever actually done it, but you knew better. He was simply private, and very good at keeping secrets.
Xiao pulled the covers up over your head and muttered a goodnight.
You giggled through a yawn. After only a few hours rest... after what Childe had made you experience... You were absolutely exhausted. It wasn’t so bad being human, if only with him. Perhaps there were other humans as commanding and brutal as he was in bed. You’d surely find out someday.

When You’re Lost, I’ll Leave My Gaslight On ||Yandere!Alec Volturi x Female Reader||
A request by @tiger-khans-blog Part 1: Obsession  Part 3: These Violent Delights
Warnings: Yandere!Alec, obsessive behaviour, unhealthy relationships and implied non-con later on. This is possibly one of the darkest fics I have ever written so please be aware if controlling behaviour, gaslighting etc. is triggering to you, do not read this fic.
The following link will take you to a Citizen’s Advice Page that have resources regarding Domestic abuse and violence. They detail various organisations offering support, refuge and advice for both women and men in abusive situations, however these only apply to the UK.
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/family/gender-violence/domestic-violence-and-abuse-getting-help/
I am from the UK and therefore am not sure about what resources may be available internationally, however I know many of you are from places outwith the UK. If you have any resources you know of that would be useful or helpful to add here then please do! You can reblog this post with link in or message me a link to have me edit it into the original. I will post this link and any that get added in all three parts of this fic that I post.
Words: 4,436
Summary:  Alec’s actions earned him some time in the dungeons of Volterra, and he really seems to be trying his best to behave himself the second time around. However, as your relationship with him blossoms, you find yourself growing more and more insecure, unsure if things are really as they seem to be. Your descent into madness seems much slower than Alice’s fall down the rabbit hole.
Bella didn’t even write to you. Nor did Alice or Edward, or Emmet or Jasper. Only Carlisle had bothered to contact you, expressing his deepest regret you had gotten tangled up in all of this and his promise to speak to Aro on your behalf. Carlisle’s efforts had granted you your own quarters on the opposite side of the castle, smaller and far less grand than the ones you had woken up in but entirely yours to decorate how you pleased; at least, that was what Felix and Demetri had decided. The silence from back home was bad enough but on top of that you had to come to terms with the fact you were now forced to live with vampires who had little to no respect for human life, one of which had a mental gift she had loved to use on you as punishment for turning her brother against her as she put it.
To say you were depressed would have been an understatement.
It felt beyond impossible to consider feeling anything remotely positive when nothing seemed to go right for you. The secretaries who brought you food were the only interaction you had for the first few days and they were mostly too afraid to stick around and talk to you after hearing you were Alec’s mate. You had been utterly and entirely alone. Unbeknownst to you, this was a test, one you failed miserably, and after they hadn’t seen hide nor hair of you by day 4 of your stay with them Felix and Demetri had taken it upon themselves to visit you. They were quite patient, letting you stay as far from them as you wanted while they invaded what had become your safe space, those unblinking red eyes taking in the sparse walls and boring, plain wood desk and doors. It was then that Felix had spoken up about decorating and Demetri has enthusiastically agreed this was a wonderful idea.
Felix, it turned out, was quite the talented artist. Looking at the brute you’d never imagined he could hold a pencil without snapping it in half, but he had drawn up the most beautiful sketches you could imagine as you told them what your bedroom back home had looked like, and how you had wanted to decorate it with your father. They had let you cry again at that point and looking back on it it was rather amusing to watch the two immortals – who physically had lacked the ability to tear up for over a millennia now – share a panic stricken look and throw tissues at you. By the end of the week, they had come back to your room with everything they would need for their DIY project and helped you start painting your room. You had been a little overwhelmed at their kindness, but both had waved it off as nothing and whenever they got the chance over the next week, they had helped you decorate.
You had shared music tastes, let Demetri try to interest you in poetry (even if he had failed dramatically) and even sat to watch a movie with them once while you had lunch. Still, it didn’t feel like home, just an escape from an abysmal reality.
“You know, he will be freed tomorrow.” Felix said quietly. You were in the middle of stringing up some fairy lights around the canopy of your bed when the news rendered you immobile. You barely remembered to breathe until Demetri very gently touched your waist and helped you down from your bed before you fell.
“I don’t want him to be.” You whispered, eyes ducking away from theirs. Alec had been their friend for far longer after all and the confession was cruel. Demetri sighed slightly.
“We have visited him once or twice, spoken to him. He truly does feel awful about what happened.” He promised you. It was very obvious on your face you didn’t believe him, and even if you did you were certain Alec’s behaviour was not normal, it didn’t eradicate your fear to know he wished it never happened when it seemed like he had had no control over it in the first place. If he couldn’t control it, it could very well happen again. Felix watched you carefully as you sat back against the headboard, curling your knees to your chest.
“Why…why was he like that? Is it – I mean could he…will he be like that again?” you swallowed, mouth a little dry as your heart fluttered in your chest. You felt sick, suddenly no longer curious about whatever dinner the new secretary might bring. Gianna had stopped showing up two days ago and you didn’t need to ask to know why. They shared a side long look, Felix going back to putting together the bookshelf you had repainted with him. It was a bit of a pattern, that Demetri handled your more sensitive questions – Felix just didn’t have the tact or patience for them.
“You remember our discussion on the transformation process? How we are frozen at the stage of growth we are at when we turn?” he questioned, waiting for you to nod before continuing, “Alec was turned no older than you are now, just 16, you know yourself from growing up I’m sure what a volatile time that can be. It is not that Alec wishes to scare you, just that the violence of his feelings is something he will have to learn to control.”
“The violence of his feelings?” you asked warily. Demetri hummed, head tilting.
“We feel emotion far more intensely than you, little human. Our bodies are frozen but heightened, so that we might experience everything to the fullest extent and therefore miss out on nothing. Alec is essentially a teenager seeing the girl he has a rather potent crush on for the first time, the mate pull was both entirely unexpected and strong. He admitted himself he had no way of controlling his own actions but he has meditated and spoken to master Marcus for help since. He really does not wish to put you through that again.” Demetri assured you.
“You have to give the boy some reprieve, he wasn’t exactly having fun either. Alec prides himself on his self-control, your appearance tossed it right out of the window.” Felix pointed out. You hung your head, brows furrowed. It sounded an awful lot to you like they were defending the inexcusable behaviour. He’s just a boy, he couldn’t control it, it’s not his fault…well, it didn’t change the fact it had hurt you. It had traumatised you really, so much so that even when you replayed Demetri’s words in your head in an effort to help calm yourself you still found no sleep that night knowing Alec would be at your door tomorrow.
Except he wasn’t.
He didn’t come the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that, and you hated that you were beginning to wonder if he was ever coming at all. Was this a new, peculiar kind of torture? Making you wait for him? Every knock at the door made you jump the first day or two but after that you slowly began to unwind, your heavy heart coming to the conclusion he maybe wasn’t coming back, that he felt it better to stay away from you. You almost passed out when he finally did show up at your door, standing behind Demetri as still as stone and looking jut as perfect as any sculpture could. It really wasn’t fair the boy was so pretty. Demetri gave you a warm smile.
“Good evening Y/N, do you mind if we come in little human?” he asked. You hesitated. Did you want Alec in your safe space? Your room was your sanctuary, decorated how you liked with no trace of Alec inside it as of yet. He seemed to notice your hesitation and you were surprised to see just how much anguish it brought him.
“If you prefer, we could take a walk around the Gardens? Demetri says you haven’t left your room much.” Alec said. His voice was softer now, no longer did it have the rough edge to it it had held in the throne room. You swallowed thickly, slowly nodding your head, and moved to get your shoes from by the door. Alec inhaled sharply as the shirt you were wearing rode up slightly. His arms had left to sizable bruises on your torso and he had obviously seen them. You weren’t expecting him to look so torn up about it. Demetri glanced between you both, his eyes knowing.
“I would suggest a jumper, the evenings can be somewhat chillier.” He advised. You nodded, crossing to your closet. Once you were ready, you shut the door firmly behind you and stuck close to Demetri’s side, much to Alec’s obvious ire, but the boy kept himself in check with remarkable discipline that gave you hope he could maybe be better.
“How are you?” he asked, his voice strained. Your hair fell, covering your eyes until you pushed it back with a quick nod.
“I’m okay. How are you?” the small talk was entirely forced and thoroughly unpleasant, but Demetri stood firm between you two, absorbing it all. You were more than a little grateful.
“I have…been better,” Alec confessed, “Demetri explained the…difficulty, I’m having in being around you?” he asked. The strain in his voice was growing more obvious again now but one look from Demetri forced him to settle as you shuddered, memory flashing to the violent grip his arms had on you. If he noticed your hand subconsciously go to your bruised flesh, he didn’t comment on it.
“He told me you couldn’t control your feelings.” You said quietly. Alec huffed, eyes flashing with irritation.
“It’s as upsetting to me as it is to you, to think a mere human would make me so…so…” he trailed off, trying to choose the right word. You prompted him, curious to see what he would choose. “Obsessed.” He settled for the word with such a flat tone you couldn’t help but wrap your arms around yourself, mind reeling. It wasn’t a good word. It wasn’t your preferred word. Carlisle and Esme had been mates, hadn’t they? Rosalie and Emmett? Alice and Jasper? They had proven to you if nothing else that mates should be loving, kind. It was a relationship based on mutual attraction and desire, caring, not one person’s obsession with another. It was an unhealthy word.
“Why don’t you tell Alec of our trip to the market the other week?” Demetri hedged. He was clearly acting as chaperone today as you headed out into the fading sunlight. The Gardens of Castello Volterra were magnificent, kept tidy and neat and bursting with colour. A massive expanse of green dotted with vibrant hues of flowerbeds and glorious leafy sculptures in shapes you could recognise. Horses, chess pieces. Your answers were short, quiet, and Alec seemed to have moments he was incredibly open and vulnerable before he became a little more robotic, his control slipping when he found his emotions getting the best of him again. The amount of effort he put into his composure really astounded you, and by the time you were half-way around the Walled Garden you were actually starting to feel a little bit bad. Clearly your presence really did make him suffer.
“I don’t know how much more of this I can take.” He admitted finally, fists clenched at his sides. With a sharp exhale, Alec turned to you, ruby red eyes darkening as soon as they made contact with your own Y/E/C.
“Alec-“
“Y/N, I have tortured myself over the way I behaved towards you. I am truly sorry I ever laid a hand on you. I hope that as I work on controlling myself around you, you work on being able to forgive me for that.” Alec cut Demetri off, his body rigid with tension and eyes flickering to the very slight gap left between you and the tracker as you moved closer out of instinct to the person you trusted most out of the two of them. His nostrils flared, seemingly annoyed by it.
“I…can try. But you need to promise me Alec, promise me you won’t hurt me like that ever again.” You said. Truthfully you were intrigued by him. Demetri had told you you would also feel the mate pull eventually, though not as strongly as Alec did, and your curiosity to know more about the witch twin was the start of a very deep dark hole you were about to fall into. The air turned almost ominous, like that strange moment between hearing thunder and waiting to see if there would be lightning.
“I won’t make you promises I can’t keep.” Alec’s voice was all that was left of him, as he was gone by the time you blinked again. Demetri sighed slightly, though he tried to perk up his expression when he realised you were looking helplessly to him for answers.
“Well, that went rather well, do you not agree?” he asked. What had Alec meant? He had done so well today. Clearly he was getting the hang of controlling his emotions, he could be less of a threat. You had rather liked the sweeter side of Alec you had glimpsed today, the side that told you about how Jane had planted the peonies and had chased Felix quite literally out of the city when he accidentally trampled on them once, just to hear you laugh. You liked the side of Alec that had quietly complimented the way your hair reflected the dying light while you stood and admired another topiary.
A month passed this way before you finally felt comfortable enough to be around Alec on your own. He had really tried hard to become a better man for you and it showed. His smiles were more natural and he found it easier to relax in your presence, no more uptight Alec that left you wandering when he would snap. Felix and Demetri had continued to chaperone your dates for all that time until you finally asked one night if you might be allowed to be with Alec on your own for a little bit. Demetri had enthusiastically agreed, both Guards seemingly happy you were finally letting their friend have his chance. Alec seemed to sense your nerves when you appeared in the library, where you’d both agreed to meet for an hour to two to test the waters. He was more relaxed than you’d ever seen him, leaning back against the sofa with his eyes closed while he listened to some far-off birdsong you couldn’t hear, or so you imagined.
“I wasn’t sure you would come.” He admitted. You smiled slightly, pulling your sketchbook from your bag as you sat on the opposite sofa to him.
“I said I would,” You reminded him. Alec smiled slightly, head bobbing in agreement. “What are you reading?” you asked. Alec glanced to the book beside him.
“The Picture of Dorian Gray, though I confess myself bored of it. Wilde has never been my preferred author.” Alec answered, sitting up and eyeing your sketchbook with interest. You didn’t notice, too busy flipping through your pages to find the sketch you were working on now. The lines were already drawn, you had just wanted to finish your shading today.
“How is Jane?” you asked. You wanted to chase away the silence and figured it would be a nice way to maybe broach the topic that she had avoided you like the plague. Alec didn’t answer you and when you looked up to see why you saw his eyes fixated on your sketch, nothing but awe painting his face. You flushed a deep shade of red.
“Beautiful and talented, little human.” He breathed. You were fairly sure you weren’t supposed to hear, but it only made your blush darken. It was nothing worthy of a spot in the Louvre, just a sketch of the view from the fountain in the plaza looking down one of Volterra’s many alleyways. You tucked some hair behind your ear with a small smile.
“Thank you,” you said softly, “I started it the other day, when Demetri took me to that café I told you about? Where they do those really nice pastries?” As if a switch had been flipped Alec’s face shut off, all expression wiped away and an impassive mask replacing it. It had happened so fast you were unsure anything other than apathy had ever painted his face in the first place.
“Demetri takes you out often.” He noted. There was nothing his tone or his face to give away his feelings about that, but a strong sense of foreboding settled in your gut. You shut your sketchbook, knowing deep in your chest that the damage was already done. The atmosphere in the room had changed drastically, becoming charged and electric, like it was filled with current just waiting to frazzle and consume you whole.
“Yeah…it’s nice to get out of the castle, and it’s not like I’m a prison so why shouldn’t I see the city I’ve got to live in now?” you rambled ever so slightly, voice wavering a bit, but Alec’s expression changed so quickly you were sure he was trying to give you whiplash. With a laugh he nodded his head.
“Of course.” He made no further comment and you descended into silence again until it was time to leave, your sketchbook long abandoned and your eyes fixed on him, waiting for his mood to shift again. He was perfectly respectable in every other way however, his silence easy to brush off as nothing when he kissed your knuckles chivalrously after walking you back to your room. He still hadn’t set foot in it yet despite his obvious intrigue, waiting for you to invite him in personally. When the door closed behind you, you released a breath you didn’t know you had been holding. The whole evening had gone far better than expected even with the few minor road bumps. In fact, Alec’s mood seemed to do an entire 180 compared to how he had been when you first met. He was pleasant, charming even. That was where the problem started.
One night, he bought you flowers and a pastry from your favourite café, remembering the exact kind you liked and bringing it to your door so you could enjoy a walk with him in the Gardens once more, watching the stars come out. You’d passed Felix in the corridor and waved but the giant had hurried by as though he hadn’t seen you. A few days after that Alec had promised to take you out to the markets, but the weather had been too bright for him apparently even though you had argued it was overcast enough that the chances of him exposing himself were slim to none. He had come to your room with new sketching pencils that night, an apology gift to make it up to you, he said.
It had become a theme though, you noticed. Alec would promise to take you somewhere, and then he would find one way or another to weasel his way out of taking you out.
“I never promised you anything, I said we might, your imaging things.” He would dismiss it the same way every time and always follow up with a nice gesture that made you feel bad for questioning him on it. He really did feel guilty about you not getting to go out, didn’t he? It wasn’t just that though either, it was Demetri and Felix’s absence in your life that had grown concerning. You were conscious you hadn’t seen your friends for quite some time, Alec always claiming they were busy with guard duty or some other task, yet when you caught Demetri in the corridor once he had brushed you off with the enough regret in his eyes that it made you question Alec’s entire story.
“But they always found time to at least say hello to me before, so why-“
“Y/N, my love I don’t wish to upset you, but do you really think they were ever your friends?” Alec asked. You blinked, frowning in confusion.
“Of course they’re my friends! We decorated my room together and they helped us get to know each other. I just don’t get why they aren’t around anymore.” You huffed. Alec ran his hand down your arm gently, your skin tingling at the ice-cold contact. He had slowly started to incorporate physical affection into your relationship, and you would be lying if you said you weren’t thrilled with the little touches. It was a far cry from the rough embrace he had given you nearly two months ago.
“They were fulfilling a duty tesoro, you required a room and at the Masters request they built you one, and do you really think one little human can go unguarded in this place? They were your sentries, not your friends.” His expression was so sympathetic you wondered how you couldn’t not believe him, and he’d held you to him as you cried over their obvious betrayal. As weeks dragged into another month though your anxiety only grew, and it didn’t make sense. Things between you and Alec were really good. He had much more control now and he was affectionate and sweet, always giving you little gifts and making time in his day to see you even if no one else would, but something was just…wrong. You were sure you were going mad.
You wrote home frequently to the Cullen’s so they could pass letters on to Bella, but those letters sometimes went missing and despite being sure you wrote them, Alec assured you you hadn’t and he had never seen them materialise. As sweet as he was Alec always put down your clumsy little accidents to you being human to, laughing when you tripped into his arms or holding his breath as he cleaned up scrapes for you with that dreaded little saying of his.
“You’re only human Y/N.” he chuckled, as he carefully placed a band aid around the finger you had accidentally cut while cooking yourself dinner. You sighed dejectedly.
“I wish you’d stop saying that.” You admitted. It felt like you weren’t good enough. Your human needs were a bother to him, that much was clear. He always had to take time to make sure you had something to eat when he really just wanted to spend his free hours with you. Most of the time when he was free you were asleep and you could only imagine how boring it must be for him to have to spend so much time alone when you were across the castle, sleeping peacefully. Bathroom breaks were another thing that gave you almost nauseating anxiety now to, and you’d scrubbed your body pink on multiple occasions wondering if your personal hygiene was assaulting his nose or not after a day or two without showering.
You needed to clear your head, you decided, so a trip to your café was in order. Alec wouldn’t be able to take you you knew, not with the sun as bright as it was right then. It would fade quickly given the late time of year but you left a note just in case Alec wondered across your empty room. It felt good, to get fresh air and to sit in a window seat, watching the world go by without a care as sweet pastry melted in your mouth. You had brought a book with you to enjoy to, a fantasy world to escape to for a little bit before your old anxieties came crawling back in. Though your relationship with Alec was as yet undefined, you felt like you were to blame for that due to your inferior status. After all, what could you possible bring to a relationship with him that would make him want to call you his mate? You were only human after all.
“Now what are you doing here little human?” Demetri’s voice startled you so much you dropped your book to the tabletop with a gasp. Heart fluttering, you couldn’t help but laugh breathless, if only to ease the tension.
“Demetri, god you scared the hell out of me.” You swallowed, not liking the way he was frowning at you.
“Well you can consider us even then.” He said, arms folding across his chest. You felt a lot like you were a child being scolded in that moment.
“What?” you asked.
“You heard me. You cannot just leave the castle Y/N, not without telling someone or at least leaving a note. There was an uproar when Alec found you gone, we thought something had happened to you.” He chided. Your frown deepened.
“But I did leave a note, I taped it to my door so Alec would see.” You protested. Demetri’s eyebrows rose.
“Not according to Alec. He found no note and I did not see anything resembling one when I came to your room to see what the fuss was about. Come on, you have had your fun. A harmless misunderstanding it may be but you will be in for a scolding from the Masters.” he sighed, holding a hand to help you out of your chair. Your stomach twisted. You were going to have to see the Masters because you’d gone out for coffee? How had Alec missed your note? You were sure you had left it on the door for him! You remembered the schluuuuck sound of sticky tape and everything as you taped it up!
“But Demetri, I swear I left a note.” You said, packing away your things as your good mood crumbled. Demetri was quiet for a moment.
“Perhaps you did and it was overlooked, either way you have scared us all enough for one day.” He took your bag from you like the gentleman he was, escorting you back to the castle. You were so sure you had left that note for Alec, as sure as you were about your own name, but what if you hadn’t? You resolved to steel your nerves for now, take your scolding and ensure you left one next time. Hell, next time you would even tell the secretary to go and tell Alec in the throne room just to be safe. You weren’t going to worry your mate like this again, it wasn’t going to become a pattern.
How wrong you were.

Can you write some tokka angst 🙏
ofc I can anon and IM SORRY THIS IS SO LATE but better late than never I guess. this is set in modern times because modern times are fun to write for tokka okay? a bit longer than usual but the more angst the better am I right
Toph had promised Sokka that she’d go to the hospital when it happened, so that’s exactly what she’d done. She hadn’t promised that she’d actually get anyone’s attention. Or check in. Or ask for help.
Although… the contractions were getting more insistent, and she doubted the medical staff would leave her alone if she stripped off the stupid maternity pants and just squatted down right there on the lobby floor.
With a heavy sigh, she waddled her way over to the nearest front desk. Spirits, she hadn’t been in a hospital in years. She wasn’t even sure what the different branches and buildings and desks were all for. But there was no way that she was giving birth at home. Katara was in medical school, sure, but she wasn’t done. And Toph wasn’t about to risk her life and her child’s life for a “practice trial.”
Still, there was something unnerving about the hospital, with its stuffy feeling and too-squeaky floor. It feels clean, clean in a way that you can just sense. She didn’t need sight to tell her just how antibacterial this place was.
A pinging, traitorous part of her wishes that someone was here with her, that she didn’t have to do this alone. But it was her own stupid pride that had taken a cab all alone in a Wednesday night, and the only person she truly wanted present was somewhere she could never get him back from. She’d promised him before he died that she would go to the hospital if she felt even the slightest change. He wanted her to be safe, he said.
And now, of course, Sokka was dead and gone while she was here, swollen belly stretching out her sweater and maternity pants. As much of an annoyance as labor would be, getting the thing out of her was going to be a blessing. She’d spent too long unbalanced and vulnerable to attack.
“Can I help you?”
Toph was broken out of her musings by the question from someone sitting at the closest desk. She turned her head to where she hoped the person, a woman by the sound of it, would be.
“I hope so,” she smiled, falling back into a generic cover ID face. “I should probably see a doctor.”
“All right,” said the woman. She heard the clicking of nails on a keyboard, then something sliding across the desk. “Why don’t you take one of these forms, fill it out, and bring it back here?”
“Can’t ,” she said shortly. “I’m blind.”
“No worries.” The woman clicked her pen open like she had blind pregnant ladies come into the ER every day. Who knew - maybe she did. “I’ll ask you the questions and you answer, okay?”
“Okay.” Toph winced as another contraction hit her. At least the protruding baby bump gave her something to lean against. She made sure to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth as the woman began questioning her, just as Katara had instructed her to do. I’m a few hours, the whole thing would be over and then - she bit her lip and redirected her thoughts.
She wished Sokka was -
She redirected that thought, too.
“Reason for your visit?” the woman asked, yapping the pen against the clipboard.
Toph waited a moment before she turned around yet again, because she was in the middle of another contraction and couldn’t decide whether she’d rather scream or just go ahead and kill the lady.
“My contractions are about eight minutes apart,” she said.
The lady blinked once and then repeated, “They’re eight minutes apart from each other? So you’re in labor. Are you in active labor?”
Toph smiled sweetly. “Are you asking me to stick my fingers down and see whether or not I’m dilated to seven centimeters?”
To the woman's credit, the crudity didn't seem to faze her, and she plowed ahead with, “Ma’am, this is the ER. We’re not equipped for a birth. I’ll call you a wheelchair immediately, and we’ll get you up to Labor and Delivery. Trust me, it’ll be faster than checking in here and waiting for a transfer.”
“Where’s Labor and Delivery?”
“Fourth floor, and I -”
“I’ll just walk over there. It’s fine.”
“Ma’am, I really must insist. You’ve technically checked in—” she waved the yellow paper “—and you’re our responsibility now.”
Toph leaned heavily against the counter and deftly snatched the page out of the woman’s hand. At least her coordination was still functional.
“There. Now I didn’t check in, and I’m my own problem.”
“Ma’am, please. You’re in no condition to go wandering the hospital, whether you take that against your pregnancy or your eyesight. Let me just call someone to wheel you over.”
Luckily for the woman, another contraction rendered her unable to give a snappy retort. She waited for it to pass, quietly, quickly, then faced the lady once more.
“Fine,” she said tightly. “Fine. Fine.”
“Thank you,” the lady said, obviously relieved. Apparently she did not deal with stubborn blind pregnant women on the daily.
By the time she had been put in a wheelchair and taken through the long halls and winding corridors to Labor and Delivery, Toph had managed to calm herself down. Not because the situation was in any way calming, but because she’d stressed her body and mind out enough that she’d fallen into full-blown mission mode.
Which was fine. It’d probably be easier to give birth with that attitude.
“Well, you seem pretty together, Toph,” the nurse gushed as she checked in yet again at the front desk. “We’ll get you back as soon as possible. For now, if you can just take a seat in one of those chairs, and listen for your name.”
Toph let her real self fade into the background, giving over control to the five other women sitting in the waiting room, and promptly closed her eyes. If she was going to be in pain, she might as well rest while she could.
-
The calm blind girl out in the lobby was already a topic of discussion.
It wasn’t completely unheard of for someone to come in alone. Life was weird and sometimes people gave birth without anyone they knew to help them through the experience. But this girl? The calm young girl with ebony in her hair and in her eyes wasn’t any of the typical stories. She was clean and put together. She was calm and young and looked like the kind of person who would have a dozen friends by her side, even if the father of the child was no longer in the picture.
And yet, there she sat. First in the waiting room and then in her hospital room.
Alone.
Moreover, Miss Toph Beifong had claimed on her paperwork that her contractions were now five minutes apart. However, she was sitting too calmly for that. In fact, the nurse had sat with phone in hand and timed out more than ten minutes, and the girl hadn’t moved once. She’d sat there calmly. No wincing, no cursing, no crying.
It wasn’t until the nurse pulled the woman back and got down to take a look that anyone believe the claim at all.
"Shit,” the nurse murmured.
The doctor startled and glanced up to see if Toph had been offended by the curse. Fortunately, the girl seemed more concerned with how many fingers she had, and didn’t seem to have heard.
“What?” the doctormurmured, more quietly.
“Her cervix is nine centimeters,” the nurse answered.
“Shit,” the doctor echoed.
-
By the end of it all, Toph had decided she did not like labor. She’d made that decision before she began crowning, and nothing that followed did anything to change that. While she had experienced worse pain in her life, she had never experienced that kind of pain.
She had once spent four straight hours being absolutely crushed by a girl at the gym and, at the peak of labor, she was pretty sure she’d trade out that experience for her current one.
Nevertheless, she didn’t scream. She screwed up her eyes and doubled her body up and flexed her fingers. Tears leaked from her eyes from the sheer stress of it all. But her lips remained tightly closed. The skin around them grew white from where she bit them between her teeth, and the nurses were afraid she’d draw blood.
One well-intentioned nurse had advised that she just give in and cry out.
Toph had rolled her eyes, widened her legs, and pushed again.
In the end, nature was inevitable. Toph had always had someone to remind her to take good care of her body, so the whole experience was over in a few hours. She collapsed back against the wet bedding. There was sweat and blood and who-knew-what all over her, and she’d probably never feel clean again.
There was screaming in the background, and her eyes finally focused on the small infant being washed by the hospital staff.
Then her view was cut off by the ring of congratulating nurses.
“It’s a beautiful girl. Do you have the name ready for her?”
“Call it Toph, for all I fucking care,” Toph murmured, too quietly for anyone to make out. She turned over on her side, away from the child, and shut her eyes tight.
-
Later that night, after hours of tossing and turning in her sleep, Toph was awoken by the small mewing sound coming from her bedside. She sighed. She’d tried to have the baby whisked away to some far-off nursery where she wouldn’t have to ignore its presence, but apparently the hospital didn’t “do that anymore.”
Spirits, she felt so empty. Tired and empty and drained.
Deciding she could avoid it no further, Toph feels her way to the other side of the bed. The hospital is quiet, and she can’t even guess what time it is. Probably late at night. She waddled over to the bassinet, and the mewing became a full-fledged scream.
She jumped. The baby continued screaming, but less so, as if it hadn’t realized anyone was there. She found herself reaching down, feeling the child, the blankets, so afraid she would drop it or break it or… worse. For a moment she hesitated.
This is your baby, she thinks. You’re allowed to pick it up. It’s yours. And his. You can pick it up.
Her. She could almost hear Sokka’s voice echo through the room, reminding her that their child wasn’t an it. The thought made her smile.
Slowly, carefully, as though her life depended on it, Toph lowered her arms around the tiny, tiny baby and lifted her up. The baby stopped bawling and snuggled against her mother’s chest.
“Hello,” she said stupidly, like the kid could respond. But her mouth kept moving. “Um. Uh, my name’s Toph. I’m your - Spirits, I guess I’m your mom now, huh?”
The baby gurgled, her lips curled like she might cry again. Toph hurried to keep talking.
“Oh, God, um. What else, what else… uh, you have a bunch of aunts and uncles,” she said. “They’re all gonna help raise you. They’re annoying sometimes, but they mean well. You’re our first baby, you know.”
Our. The word made Toph close her eyes for a second. Try as she might, there would be no more “our.” There was only “she.” The “our” in her partnership was long gone. How was she supposed to tell her child that?
She decided to start with the basics.
“Your daddy was so brave,” she whispered. It hurt to talk about Sokka in the past tense, but she kept going. “He was so, so strong and brave and I just know he would have loved to meet you. He already loved you, you know. He wanted to meet you so bad, kid. He just never got the chance.”
The baby blinked, her eyelids heavy like hearing about the father she would never meet was too much for one night. Toph wholeheartedly agreed and set her down in the bassinet once more, making sure she was secure before plodding back to her own bed and face-planting on the blankets.
The nurse had told her the baby’s eyes were blue. She let that thought sink into her heart before drifting off to sleep.

repost, I had to fix some issues.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The waiting room was hushed, with the tapping of keys from the receptionist’s desk as background noise. You glanced expectantly at the clock, disappointed when only two minutes had passed. It was 6:17 PM, and you doubted your roommate would arrive before 6:40. Lisa was a graduate teaching assistant at the local college. She’d left a message explaining that she had to print off a paper before she could drive your car back.
This late in the day, there was one other person waiting. You studied him, more out of boredom than anything else.
Black hair fell in waves to frame his forehead and eyes. He was dressed casually in a soft pink hoodie and jeans, his rings reflecting the overhead light as he skimmed through a magazine.
He abandoned it briefly, lifting his head to lock eyes with you. His lips twitched. A frown? A smile? You couldn’t tell.
He flipped the magazine around and held it up, so that you could see the pages he’d been on. It was a painting of a cherry tree in full bloom, with hints of a cerulean sky between the branches.
Beautiful.
The next spread was for Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Month. His brow furrowed as he witnessed you retreat into your shell, looking anywhere but at him.
Realization dawned when he saw the contents. “I’m sorry. I didn’t-”
The door to the E.R. clicked open, interrupting him, and a younger man crossed the threshold. Magazine Man shot to his feet and hurried over to him. “How are you feeling, Kook?”
“Tired.” ‘Kook’ shrugged into the coat he was handed, almost trodding on the other man’s heels as they exited the waiting room.
Stupid. You slumped forward, squeezing your eyes shut and rubbing your forehead. Get a grip.
Tumblr media
He sat a few seats away. You kept your head down, not eager to embarrass yourself further.
You’d heard his voice before, but for the first time, you realized how melodious it was. “I didn’t look before I turned the page that day. I’m sorry.”
You looked up. “I know. I’m sorry too, for how I acted.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He relaxed into the seat. “I’m Seokjin, by the way.”
“I was calling you Magazine Man in my head. Just so you know.”
He had a nice laugh. “There are worse names, I suppose. What’s yours?”
“Exhausted panda.”
“Panda? Is that your favorite animal?”
You blinked, taken aback at his interest. “Uh, no. That's not why. It’s for the dark circles under my eyes...it’s hard for me to get enough sleep.”
“...I see wings.” His voice was hesitant. Gentle.
You couldn’t understand why he’d been trying to boost your morale. “Oh...well. My actual name is Y/N.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Y/N.”
Tumblr media
The next time you saw Seokjin, he was worried when he learned you didn’t have an immediate ride home. Lisa had left on an urgent errand for her mother, and you hadn’t driven in the first place. It was kind of impossible to do that when you were incapacitated by pain and nausea.
He offered to drop you off after he took his brother home.
You couldn’t reply right away. You had some idea of who he was. You knew his name, and that he loved his brother dearly. But you didn’t know him well enough to feel completely comfortable.
But pain had always been your strongest motivator. The easiest fix for the agony snaking along your guts was a heating pad at home.
And here Seokjin was, with the tempting words that made you imagine how sweet the relief would be.
You said yes.
Tumblr media
Seokjin stopped next to you while you were browsing through the earrings at the local Walmart, almost giving you a heart attack before you recognized him.
He was with his brothers. You hadn’t known that there were others, besides Jungkook. But then again, you had only met in the hospital.
Thankfully, Jungkook appeared to be fine. But you knew all too well that didn't necessarily mean he felt that way. Still, his smile almost rivaled Seokjin’s.
Seokjin gave the jewelry a cursory scan before he snatched a pair left over from Christmas, stamped with Santa Claus’ image. “These would be perfect for you.”
You rolled your eyes, swatting his hand away. “More like for you.”
He didn't laugh. You were surprised to see him scrutinizing your features. “You’re feeling better.”
“Yeah.” You swallowed. He didn’t intend to, but his words reminded you of the fact that every meeting up to that point had happened with you rendered helpless in one way or another. You despised the idea that people thought of you as frail, vulnerable...weak.
Especially Seokjin.
But it was undeniable. You were weaker than the average person. Good days where you could cope had been reduced, and there weren't many days at all that you didn’t feel some symptom.
Seokjin had a window to Jungkook’s experiences. But even then, there was a disconnect between them. What then, did you hope that he could do for you, that you couldn’t do for yourself?
“I found something for you.” He took your hand in his. Cool metal pressed into your skin.
You uncurled your fingers to see midnight blue stones glinting up at you, set as the leaves of an earring climber. “It’s beautiful.”
He sent you a wink. “Of course it is. What would you choose for me, Y/N?”
They stood out almost immediately. You retrieved the pair of silver chain drop earrings and deposited it in his hand. They were rather plain, save for the metal stars at the ends of both.
He rolled the fine metal links across his thumb.
You hadn’t spoken, but his head lifted. He refused to look away from your eyes. His own had softened, resulting in the tension rippling across your shoulders. You didn't like it when people looked at you like that.
Seokjin had never seen one of your days, only glimpses. He had no idea of what you endured.
He had no right to meet your gaze with that familiarity.
“Butterfly.” His voice was hushed, stopping you in your tracks.
“‘Butterfly’...?”
“Can I call you that?”
“I didn’t think we were on a nickname basis. If we were friends, I’d allow it.”
“Friends…” he mused. “That’s fair.”
The image of rain, threatening to break through a wall of clouds, rolled across your mind.
He didn’t relent, daring to reach out. He folded your fingers around the piece of paper. “If you need a ride. Or if you want to talk.”
“Do you just carry your number around?”
He glanced downwards. “I wrote it after I saw you here.”
You nodded stiffly. You couldn’t see yourself turning to him for further help, but you weren’t about to tell him that. Besides, there was no harm in keeping the paper, just for a while.
-----
He had lovely handwriting. You left his note on your desk after entering his contact, though you debated for several weeks on what to text.
If you decided to text at all.
Red lights cutting through the midnight darkness and echoes of his voice in the enclosed space lingered. The memory of his presence paired with the absence of pain.
You were unable to forget that you owed him, and you wouldn’t be able to let the memory fade until you’d done something in return.
He replied with an invitation to a homemade dinner. It didn’t make sense. Honestly, it was frustrating. You just wanted to pay him back and be done with it.
But again, he insisted. The little voice in your head whispered that it’d be easier to explain yourself in person, rather than over text.
Tumblr media
While Seokjin had dug in right away, you set your fork down. “I have to be clear about this. I said yes because I owe you for the ride home before. There’s no other reason.”
He gazed at you from across the table. “I did that because I wanted to. You don’t owe me anything.”
“Seokjin, please.”
He sighed. “That’s what friends do. Can we be friends, Y/N? Not...whatever this is?”
You traced the rim of your glass, collecting condensation on your fingertip. “...I guess we can try.”
“Thank you.”
You glanced at him. His gentle smile and warm brown eyes caused an ache to bloom in your chest. Feeling your body temperature spike, you broke eye contact with him.
The clock on the wall read 6:32. The muted ticking of its hands and the clinking of silverware were the only noises in the room.
For a house with six other occupants, especially in the evening, you would’ve expected to overhear conversations and movement. “Where are your brothers?”
“Jungkook went to watch a movie with Jimin and Tae. Yoongi’s at his studio. Namjoon and Hoseok went back to campus to study.”
“Does that happen often? You getting the house to yourself?”
He smiled. “I may have...provided incentive to the youngest ones.”
Tumblr media
You stumbled upon a new author and earned a couple more pieces of literature to proofread. Since you hadn’t gone to college, you were grateful each time you found a new client.
When Seokjin refused monetary payment, you came up with a plan B.
While you couldn't be exactly sure of what Jungkook’s trigger foods were, you were reasonably sure that they included the worst ones for you. Red sauce (and everything that entailed) was pure evil on the most basic list of what foods to avoid. You had no clue what his other brothers liked, so you packed a variety of food.
He answered on the second ring. “Y/N?”
“Hey, you’re at home, right? Is everyone else there too?”
“Just a sec. ...Yoongi’s on the way. Everyone’s here beside him. Why?”
“I bought food, so we can all have dinner together.”
“Alright. You’re at home?”
“Yeah.”
“Wait there. I’ll come get you.”
“I can drive, Seokjin. But thank you.”
“See you soon, butterfly. Drive safely.”
--
Seokjin swung the door open. Surprise flickered across his expression. “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.” You lifted the basket, as if he hadn’t already seen it. “I brought food.” As if you hadn’t told him that earlier. You cringed, wondering why his compliment had thrown you off so badly.
If you were trying to distract him, it hadn’t worked. His thumb grazed your earlobe and the jewelry adorning it. “It matches you.”
Tumblr media
Seokjin’s presence in your life was like the moon. You’d walked for so long through the night that at first, even his light had been blinding. But it hadn’t taken too long to become accustomed to his honest, kind nature.
A few months went by. Though Seokjin hadn’t exactly hesitated to talk to you before, sending you cute animal pictures or memes, he became thoughtful when you saw him in person.
“I feel like you’re hiding something from me.” You sat across the table from him. His brothers had already finished eating and scattered throughout the house and yard. You’d declined his invitation for food, but accepted for the company.
He finished chewing, his hand over his mouth. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh yeah?” You looked - very deliberately - at his ears.
He bolted out of his seat. “Hey!”
You waited a long moment before rising. His hands pressed into your shoulders, holding you firmly in place. “Y/N, don’t turn around and I’ll talk.”
“Okay.”
“You’re special to me.”
“Special...in what way?”
“As my friend. As someone I like.” He claimed the chair next to you.
“Oh..”
“Can we give it a try? It doesn’t need to be official. I just want to know you better.”
“Seokjin, I haven’t been in a relationship for a long time. I’m not...suited for one.”
“If you don’t want to, that’s fine. But why do you think you’re not suitable?”
You drew patterns on the table. “Um, I’ve just never wanted another person there…”
His hand settled over yours. He squeezed your fingers. “Sure. But why, Y/N?”
Your throat grew tight. You choked out, “I didn’t want to be a burden.”
He drew you to him, tucking your head against his shoulder. You blinked tears away.
“You’ve had to be strong for so long.” He murmured, melancholy infusing his tone. “You’re not alone anymore, butterfly.”
------
It took a few hours to surface from the dark ocean.
You were in Seokjin’s room, watching him explore Hyrule. He had a Nintendo Switch hooked up to his TV, with a Breath of the Wild cartridge inserted. “Seokjin?”
“Hmm?” He frowned as he furiously mashed buttons. “Just a minute.” On the screen, Link was fighting a masked man in red. The enemy teleported around the battlefield, annoying Seokjin. “Stand still and let me kill you!”
He breathed a sigh of relief when his attacks connected. You kept an eye on the enemy’s HP bar, cheering inwardly each time it went down. After vanquishing the masked enemy, he set the Switch on his bedside table and turned his attention to you. “What is it, Y/N?”
“I’m ready to talk about why I’ve been afraid of relationships.”
He inclined his head, a silent ‘continue.’
“The fear of being a burden is constantly in the back of my mind, because of my health. I always thought...why would someone choose that? Why choose me, when so much of my life is this disease?”
“Because you’re a lovely person.”
“There are so many lovely people out there who are actually healthy.”
“But they’re not you.”
“I’m not any other person either, does that make them any less valuable?”
“No, of course not. That’s not-” He groaned. “Y/N, you’re making this impossible. Everyone is special. But you are in my life, and you’re important to me. I don’t give a damn about your health.”
You wanted to believe it.
If it had been anyone else, you wouldn’t have. Even so, doubts haunted you.
Seokjin was a good person to the core. You’d seen that when he took care of Jungkook, in his cooking for his brothers, and how he’d bolstered your spirits when it was all too much.
You could trust him.
But you didn’t want to drag him down. He deserved better.
He took your hand, thawing the ice in your bloodstream. “Look at me.”
You did. He intertwined his fingers with yours, his rings warm against your skin. “I know my own mind. And I like you. Your health doesn’t scare me.”
“It’s easy to say that.”
“If we were in a relationship, I could prove it. Remember Jungkook, too. I’ve seen his side of it.”
“..Okay. I’ll do my best.”
He chuckled softly. “You don’t need to do that. Butterfly, just be yourself.”
-----
Euphoria was unfamiliar. You poked at the dreamlike haze, searching for shadows. You relaxed when the sunlight faded. A full day had passed, and it hadn’t been a fantasy.
Grains of sand shifted under your shoes. Waves rolled against the shore, and he was at your side. “Jin, why did you start talking to me? In the hospital, I mean.”
“You looked sad. And I thought...maybe you could help Jungkook. He struggles with it a lot. If anyone can help, it’d be you, right?”
Moonlight spilled a silver path across the water. “I don’t know that I’d be able to help another person when I’m not in the best mindset. He should talk to a professional, I think.”
--
Jin parked next to the curb. You unbuckled the seat belt when he spoke, rushing through his words. “Y/N, there's something...I have to be honest. I didn’t ask you out purely for my sake. The next relationship I had, I wanted to meet someone similar to Jungkook.”
The euphoric bubble disintegrated. “What?”
“I’m sorry. But please believe me, I care about you.”
“Me or my disease?”
His face was veiled in shadow. “Y/N, it’s you.”
“I need time to think, Jin. You were using that part of me...and I just..”
---
His confession was a new experience. You’d struggled with self-esteem for years, only exacerbated by the crushing diagnosis. To fight with a resistant body and know that you would never, ever be freed from that for as long as you lived...it was hard.
There was always the hope of remission. But the risk of a flare-up was there too, in every period of peace.
Seokjin had deliberately sought you out because of your burden.
You knew that his intention was admirable and came from love for his brother. But the thought that not all of your interactions had been for the sake of, well, interacting...hurt.
A lot.
Were you not enough?
-------
Jungkook called after a few days, asking to talk in person. You agreed after he promised everyone else would be out of the house.
“How are you feeling?” You asked, looking him over. He didn’t appear pale, tired, or otherwise sick. What you were really concerned about were the possible symptoms you couldn't see.
“I’m okay. I managed to finish a painting.” His lopsided smile vanished. “I heard what happened.”
“Yeah...I assume you’re going to explain.”
“I’d like to. But I won’t if you don’t want to hear it.”
You couldn’t say no to his earnest request. “I’m listening.”
“He didn’t mean it like that. His exes were nice enough people, but they couldn’t understand how protective Jin-hyung and everyone else was of me. They wanted more from him than he was willing to give. He was just hoping that someone like me would be more sympathetic.”
You nodded slowly. “I can see that.”
Light glimmered in his eyes. “Can I pass on a message?”
“It’s alright, I’ll call him later. Jungkook, your brother said he was worried about you. Can I help you at all?”
He blinked at you, confusion clouding his face. “Help me..? On what?”
“Your health. If I can help, I mean. I only have my life to go off of, but I’ve been talking through it with a therapist.”
“Oh. Um...I want to ask you some questions.”
----
You dialed his number with shaking fingers.
“Y/N?” The concern in his voice made tears spring to your eyes.
“..yeah. It’s me. Um, listen, Jin. I talked to Jungkook earlier...and I thought a lot.” You opened the door, stepping onto the deck. When you tilted your head back, you could see the stars.
“Are you okay?”
“I will be. I just..needed to ask you something. It was real, right?”
“Yes, butterfly. I wouldn’t have gone this far if I didn’t care about you.”
“Okay.” You wiped at your eyes. “I still love you, Jin. Can we start over?”
“I’d like that.”
Your heart warmed when he blew you a kiss over the phone.
“Get some sleep, Y/N. I’ll text you tomorrow.”
“Yeah. Good night, Jin.”
Tumblr media
“What do you want to do in the future, Jin?”
“I’m supposed to take over the family business. After all, I got a degree for it.”
“Do you want that?” You asked, hearing wistfulness and regret entwined in his voice.
“I...no, not exactly. But I’m the eldest.” He nudged his plate of fried chicken.
“That doesn’t matter. What do you want to do, Jin?”
He dragged his plate closer to him, avoiding eye contact.
“You’re so good to everyone. What about yourself?”
“I’d like to work in a hospital...not a doctor, but maybe a nurse? I want to help people.”
“You can do that and still be there for your family.”
Although he didn’t look completely convinced, he resumed eating. You were glad for that, at least.
Tumblr media
Lisa wasn’t home when Jin pulled in, so he parked behind your car. He caught a glimpse of a bike, sheltered safely under the deck. “Is that yours?”
You followed his finger. “Yeah. It’s been a while, though.”
“Why? The weather's nice.”
Resignation dyed your tone a muted gray. “I can’t walk up a flight of stairs without getting tired most of the time. I don’t have the stamina for biking.”
Tumblr media
He was holding an extra helmet and standing next to a light blue bike. Your heart leaped when you noticed it was a two-seater bicycle.
Jin clasped the strap under your chin. He sat in front and kicked off.
You didn’t look at the scenery very much.
--
Jin was still seated when you clambered off his bike and removed your helmet. You attempted to do the same to his, but nervousness hampered your movements. He reached up and unclasped the strap. Carefully lifting his helmet, you set it on the ground.
You could swear he had a halo. He was cast in an azure glow.
Of course, you knew it was all in your mind. He couldn’t claim to be of angelic status any more than he could emit light. Physically, anyway.
You cradled his face in your hands and kissed him. “I want to spend more time with you today, doing something you like.”
His eyes lit up. He wheeled the bike back to his car. “How about playing some games?”
You laughed. “You bet.”
--
Jin was a master at Mario Kart. You tried to keep up with him (and Jungkook, who’d entered the living room before Jin started the game.)
But it was over for you when you looked over at Jin. It was too easy to get lost in his shining eyes and victorious laughter when he edged ahead in the race.
At the end of the round, you leaned against his shoulder. “‘M tired.”
He paused the game and plucked a pillow from the couch. “Lay down. I like to think I'm more comfy than the floor.”
You hugged the pillow to your chest, laying your head on his lap. You craned your neck to look up at him, smirking at the adorable tinge of red on his face and ears. The satisfaction transformed into a softer, rosy-hued emotion as you admired the intensity in his eyes.
Beautiful. He was in his element, playing a game he loved.
Your eyes fluttered shut. Even the grumbles of frustration when his cart fell behind didn’t tug you farther away from the realm of slumber.
The living room was gone, replaced by the dining room. Jin was standing in front of you. You were holding several forget-me-not flowers out to him. In his hands, the blue darkened to purple before fading into pink.
“What flower is that?”
He tucked it behind your ear. “It's saxifrage, butterfly.”
The stem was poking your cheek. You swiped at the sensation. It didn’t depart - if anything, the prodding intensified.
You blinked to see Jin, his index finger hovering above your face. Jungkook was splayed out on the couch behind him, fast asleep.
He broke into a grin. “You were out for an hour, sleepyhead.”
You stretched. “Well, I guess it’s time to go then.”
“Actually…” he pursed his lips. “If you want to, we could have dinner. I don’t really have time to make anything, but we could do takeout.”
You poked his cheek in retaliation, then swiped your thumb across his lips. They parted under your touch. “I’d love that.”
------------
Lisa landed a job as a journalist and moved out of the apartment.
Jin responded to the news with apprehension. “I don’t want you to be alone. You could try living with us.”
“That’s...I still have five months left on the lease. Besides, I can’t live with seven people, Jin, even if they’re your family. I need a separate bathroom.”
“Oh. Right.” He sighed over the phone.
“Did you hear back from the college yet?”
“Not yet. But I think I’ll be accepted...at least, I hope so.”
“They’d be crazy not to. You already have a good record with them.”
You could tell he was smiling. “Thanks, butterfly.”
“How’s Jungkook doing right now?”
Relief saturated his voice. “He got a good report from his doctor. They said he’s in remission.”
“That’s great! Tell him I said ‘Good job! Don’t overdo it.’”
He chuckled. “I will.”
Tumblr media
The door to Jin’s house opened before you could even knock. He leaned against the doorframe, with his forearm bearing most of his weight and his ankles crossed.
And his outfit...You raised an eyebrow. He was stunning, but you didn’t understand why he’d donned a fitted black suit when you were just coming over to hang out. At least, you’d thought it was a casual invitation. Then again, he had mentioned that he’d kicked his brothers out for a few hours.
His ears were turning a condemning shade of red the longer you stared at him.
“Jin…? Did you have ulterior motives, perhaps?”
“...Maybe a few..?”
You took a step closer. “I don’t mind them, Jin. Not from you, not like this.”
“Oh…” A small tremor ran through him as you grasped his tie.
“Although you didn’t need to dress up. If you could see yourself...well, besides through a mirror. You’re breathtaking, Jin.”
“Ah...okay.” Jin looked down at himself, a seed of doubt flickering in his expression. As if you could possibly be talking about anyone else.
You laughed softly. “Come here, you ridiculous man.” Tugging on his tie, you connected lips. His tongue swiped along your bottom lip, asking for entrance that you eagerly granted.
Jin’s hands settled on the small of your back, pulling you flush against him. He lifted you into the air as you flung your arms around his neck. Your legs wrapped around his middle before he supported your thighs.
You nibbled on his pierced earlobe, blowing a soft breath out and watching the silver drop earring sway. His grip tightened on you.
“Jin?”
“Yeah?”
Glimmers of moonlight reflected in his eyes.
You have the most beautiful heart.
How was I lucky enough to have these moments with you?
“I’m really happy we met, you know.” As he entered his room, you nudged the door shut with your foot.
“Me too.” Everything about Jin seemed impossibly tender. His voice, his eyes, his smile. He lowered you onto the bed with the same amount of care.
You shimmied out of your jeans, using his shoulder for balance. Your shirt landed on the floor next as you knelt. You undid his belt and started sliding his dress pants down his toned thighs, palming his bulge as you went. Above you, Jin let out a quiet groan, his fingers momentarily frozen in their descent of his shirt buttons.
Heat pooled in your core as he took time to fold his clothes and hang them over the back of a chair. He was playing with you now, you were sure. There was no way he didn’t know how much you yearned for his touch.
When he was within reach, you tangled a hand in his hair and slotted your mouth against his.
His hands slid up your bare back, lingering at the bra band. The fabric pressed into your skin before falling.
Jin pulled away. The lunar glow of his irises had been swallowed by a starless night. “I want to see all of you.”
A shiver raced down your spine. Breathless, you let the garment drop to the floor, followed by your underwear.
“Sit back properly, Y/N.”
You didn’t look away from him as you scooted backwards, into a nest of pillows. He sank to his knees. “Can I go down on you, butterfly?”
Butterfly.
You trembled at that, how he could call you so innocently, yet resemble nothing but temptation. His pupils were blown out in lust, his honey skin gleaming with a light sheen of sweat, and his lips swollen with your kisses.
“Yes.” You managed. “But you still have boxers on.”
He smiled at that. “I’m taking care of you right now. Lay back and relax.”
A yelp escaped when he gripped your thighs, lifting your lower body in order to place a pillow there. He propped himself up on his elbows.
Jin’s hair was silky, brushing against your skin as he pressed a kiss to your inner thigh. His thumb glided along your folds, paying attention to your clit. His tongue circled the bundle of nerves, switching between broad swipes and targeted licks.
Your body jolted when he inserted a finger past your entrance, curling it inside you. He lapped up the juices, his gaze flicking to yours.
A fresh wave of arousal hit you.
The casual way Jin had held you captive with just a look...he’d taken root in your life, to the point that you’d suffer without him. You’d recover, eventually.
You always did.
But not at full health. Your body couldn’t even remember what that was like, and your mind struggled to process the distance between who you were ‘before,’ and who you were ‘after.’
“Butterfly?” Jin called you back. He’d sat up.
You blinked. “Yeah?”
“You looked...sad.”
You rested your forehead against his. “It’s not much. I’m just grateful to have you in my life.”
His hands cupped your face. Searching your eyes, he asked, “Do you still want to continue?”
He saw the confirmation as you spoke, “Yes.”
Jin removed his boxers, tossing them on the floor. He positioned his cock at your folds and eased into you, watching your reactions. You bit your lip at the beginning of each movement, and let out a little sigh as pleasure overwhelmed any fading discomfort.
When he bottomed out, Jin touched your cheek. “Can I move, baby?” At your nod, he rolled his hips, delivering controlled, powerful strokes.
“Perfect for me.” He rasped. “My beautiful butterfly.” Jin intertwined his fingers with yours, gazing down at you. Locks of hair curled against his forehead, his earrings catching light with every thrust.
You dragged your nails across his back. His shoulders were incredibly broad, tapering to his more delicate waist. Despite all the power he possessed, he was one of the most gentle people you knew.
He bent his head. You felt a slight sting above your collarbone, but he soothed the love bite with his tongue. He latched onto a breast, teasing the sensitive bud and stoking the fire in your core. It raced along your nerves, leaving them alight and craving more.
Perhaps Jin was the best (non-medicinal) cure for you.
You traced his jaw, lightly hooking a finger under his chin and urging him further over you. You nosed at the hollow of his throat, and a moan tumbled from his lips. When you nipped at his skin and laved the mark, his hips stuttered.
“Y/N,” his voice had deepened, “I don’t wanna hold back anymore.”
You looked into his eyes. “Then don’t.”
“On your knees.” Ji-...Seokjin growled.
You scrambled to obey. His palms pressed into your shoulder blades, guiding your hands flat against the bed. You melted inside at the dual caress on either side of your spine, and swallowed a whimper when his hands became rough, kneading your ass.
“Let me hear your pretty voice.” He sank into your warmth.
Seokjin set a brutal pace, pounding into you. His panting, the slap of skin against skin, and your ragged breathing intermingled. You were hurtling towards the edge of release, but a wave of bone-deep weariness was licking at your heels.
His rhythm slowed. You had time to wonder if Seokjin or Jin was in charge, before his hand pushed your legs apart. He rubbed circles on your clit, varying the pressure of his touch.
You were falling apart under Seokjin’s skilled fingers, but the oncoming orgasm sapped your strength. Your arms shook, threatening to give out. Unable to fight the fatigue creeping in around your joints and limbs any longer, you gasped, “I can’t..Jin, I’m exhausted.”
He pulled out. In equal, warring measure, your body ached for rest and to have him inside you again.
You curled into a ball, listening to his steps fade. He was back within a minute, his touch and voice soft when he placed a hand on your shoulder. “Y/N?”
You made a muffled noise, hidden by the pillow. His weight sank into the bed. You lifted your head reluctantly when he stayed silent. “Jin...I'm so sorry.”
He shook his head. “You did your best, baby.”
Your lip quivered as you cast your gaze down. “-...do better for you.”
“I know.” He started to dab at your neck with a damp cloth. “You’re more important, Y/N. There are other ways to get off.”
You sat up slowly. Jin’s hand moved to your shoulder.
A strangled noise left your throat when you glanced downwards. You should’ve known, since he hadn’t climaxed earlier.
Actually seeing his erection made it sink in.
“How can I help you?”
“You don’t need to do anything.”
You were begging now, tears welling in your eyes. “Jin, baby, please. Let me help you.”
He wrenched his gaze away from your pleading, heartsick expression. “I’m sorry.”
You threw the duvet over your head, but it didn’t dampen the sound of running water in the next room.
He was taking a shower.
The tears overflowed.
You wanted to be his equal. He’d focused so much on your own pleasure, forgoing his own.
The shower stopped not long after. You burrowed closer to the wall, bunching the duvet in your fists to hold it down.
His steady footsteps halted at the edge of the bed. “Can you let me in, butterfly?”
Your resolve wavered, and you released the fabric. Cool air brushed against your back as you heard him get into bed. The duvet fell again, covering you up to the shoulder.
Jin embraced you from behind. His palm radiated warmth against your stomach, and he hooked his leg over yours.
You tried to wriggle out of his arms. “How can you want to touch me now?”
His voice was unsteady. “Because you’re my miracle, Y/N.”
“But I didn’t...you wouldn’t….I didn’t help you.”
“I didn’t want you to because you’re exhausted, butterfly. When you feel up to it, you can.”
You clamped a hand over your mouth, trying to stifle your sobs.
“Shh, baby. It’s okay.” Jin whispered into your ear. He didn’t loosen his hold, and you placed your other hand on his forearm.
Not to push him away, but to reassure him you understood. That you were grateful...for everything. And that you’d try your hardest to have him finish with you.
He listened to your breathing even out and felt your body go lax as sleep claimed you. A small twinge of regret flashed through him when he remembered the letter he’d received.
He’d tell you later, he decided. You needed rest, not excitement (even if you had been awake.)
----
“This is amazing, Jin!” You were beaming by the time you reached the end of his letter. “When does the program start?”
“September 5th.” He was smiling too, his dream glowing in his eyes.
Pride fluttered in your chest. “You’ll be great, baby. Wait-” A slight frown marred your forehead. “Is that why you had a suit on before? To celebrate?”
“Well...yes. It was the first reason, anyway.”
You covered your face with your hands. “Oh god. I just assumed...fuck. I’m sorry, Jin.”
He almost laughed, but guessed that would not have been the kindest reaction. “No, there was that too. I posed in the doorway like that to seduce you.”
You snorted, but it was betrayed by the warm curve of your lips. “Of course.”
------------------
His reason for wanting to be a nurse was simple. Two of the most important people in his life depended heavily on the hospital and its staff. He knew how important it was to have well-functioning hospitals, not just for you and Jungkook, but for everyone.
You were just happy to see him working towards his dream. You had no doubt that he'd be able to play a part in other people’s lives.
Jin had a healing presence, after all.

Enjoy! 💜
A fire seemed to ignite within Agatha. She had to learn how to break this spell, and fast. After careful investigation the next morning, Agatha determined Elara had no memory of the nightmares or even “Agnes” comforting her. Agatha had yet to decide if that was a blessing or a curse. There was a new glint of pain behind her wife’s eyes that wasn’t there before that only grew with each night’s passing. Every night Elara would cry out and Agatha would be by her side in a moment only leaving once dawn broke. When the two crossed paths again in the morning, Elara would appear right as rain outwardly, but Agatha could now feel her mind screaming out just like everyone else’s in this god forsaken town. It broke her heart.
Wanda had seemingly given Elara a daily routine, or rather a daily task: a walk with Wanda herself around town. The first time Elara left, Agatha impatiently sat on her front porch with a magazine, waiting for Elara’s return, ready to punt their witchy neighbor half way across town if even a finger was laid on her wife.
Of course when she spotted Wanda walking her up the driveway, everything was fine. A bubbly laugh escaping Elara’s lips as the two approached Agatha. It didn’t quite quell all her nerves, but she stepped into her “nosy neighbor” role nonetheless. “Sounds like you two had a darling romp around town!”
“We absolutely did!” Wanda replied. “I have to say, I’m quite jealous you get this charming girl’s company all to yourself, Agnes. Ella is just splendid company.”
Agatha’s eyes narrowed as she watched Elara glance to the ground as a rosy tint began to cover her features. “I couldn’t agree more.”
“And to think this gal’s single! I couldn’t believe my ears when she told me!”
As Wanda reached a hand out to grab Elara’s shoulder, Agatha stepped forward, slinking an arm around the girl’s waist and pulling her in tightly to her side. “I thought she’d gotten hitched centuries ago, but no cigar!”
Ella’s breath hitched as she felt an arm pull her close, looking up she saw it was Agnes and was even more surprised to find those icy baby blues staring into her own green ones. She quickly looked away, desperately trying to find anything to grab her focus as to not give away her feelings, though Ella was sure her face was as bright as a tomato by now.
“Will I be seeing you two at Dottie’s tomorrow?”
“You bet, sweet cheeks! You let us know if you need anything beforehand!”
Wanda said her goodbyes and turned to go, but not before giving a wink to Ella which Agatha absolutely noticed and stiffened her hold on her waist, quickly leading her back inside the door. “Now, you’ll have to tell me what you two got up to today!”
Ella took a seat on the couch with Agnes and picked up one of the glasses of lemonade laid out on the coffee table. “Oh, you know, everything and nothing,” she answered vaguely.
“Right…”
-//-
Little did Agatha know, Elara had spent her walk with Wanda sharing just how much she was falling for the beautiful woman who had offered her a place to stay. She had serious feelings for the brunette despite just meeting and Wanda had offered her ideas and advice on how to woo their beloved nosy neighbor before it was too late.
“I don’t know why, I just feel we are destined to be together, Wanda!” Ella had told the redhead.
Wanda smiled and patted the arm linked with hers, “Well, how about you whip up a nice meal, set out some candles, and tell her over dessert! Between you and me, I wouldn’t be surprised if she felt the same way.”
“You really think so?”
“I know so! I’ve seen the way she looks at you!”
“I just don’t want to make a fool of myself. I get so nervous around her.”
Wanda paused, thinking hard for a moment when suddenly an idea hit her. “I know! I’ll stop by right before and drop off a bottle of champagne! I have some leftover bottles from Vision and I’s wedding! A little bit of liquid courage couldn’t hurt.”
“Oh Wanda, I could never accept! I wouldn’t want to take something from your special day!”
“Please, we have plenty to save as keepsakes. And Vision doesn’t drink much of anything. I can’t possibly let it all just sit around the place. It’s no bother really!”
“Only if you're certain.”
“Positive.”
-//-
Ella must have been lost in thought because Agnes had begun to call her name. She finally came back to the present when she felt a cold hand press against her cheek. “I’m so sorry, Agnes, I got lost in my thoughts.”
“It’s alright, doll, just making sure you’re okay.”
After their little chat, Agatha put away the glasses and pitcher full of lemonade and returned to the basement to continue her studies. Usually she’d astral project into her lair and continue her day to day through her physical body up above, but Agatha found herself too distracted, needing to physically touch the ancient spell books as she scoured them for answers.
Reversing a mind control spell was easy. Agatha could practically do it in her sleep. But this magic was different, it was strangely powerful and deeply rooted in the minds of those living in Westview. It was unlike anything she had witnessed before. A moment of clarity hit the witch as she looked up from the book she was holding, her eyes falling onto the Dark Hold which was situated across the room on its own pedestal.
No…
Setting the spell book aside, Agatha called the Dark Hold towards her and began magically flipping through its pages until she found the section she was looking for.
The Scarlet Witch
Now she was making progress. Agatha read the pages over and over again, refreshing her knowledge on chaos magic and the dangers it ensued as well as, of course, ways to counteract it. This was a dangerous magic much more powerful than her own. Not to mention being weld by a mourning, thirty something, Avenger. There was no way in heaven she was going to experiment with chaos magic on her wife. So Agatha decided then and there.
She needed a victim.
Thankfully the two were slated to go to some meeting with Dottie tomorrow granting Agatha the perfect opportunity to sniff out someone off of Wanda’s radar.
-//-
Just as she was setting the Dark Hold back into place, Agatha heard the soft lilt of Elara’s voice calling for her, so she quickly checked her appearance and made her way upstairs.
“Sorry, hun, time must have slipped away from me down there-“ Agatha frowned and looked around, Elara nowhere to be found. “Ella, dear, where are you?”
“Out back!”
Curiosity peaked, Agatha made her way out the back door, through the kitchen. She was a little taken aback by the sight in front of her. The table was set out on the back patio, with candles, and a home made meal ready for the two to enjoy.
“Do you like it?”
Agatha turned to look at Elara and gasped. She was wearing a sleeveless, pastel pink dress with a lace overlay. Her hair was no longer tied away and fell just past her shoulders in perfect curls. She looked absolutely stunning.
Elara cleared her throat causing Agatha to blink, remembering she’d been asked a question. “Apologies dear, you're just a...a vision in pink over there, I simply…” Agatha let an awkward chuckle slip, not usually one to be caught speechless.
A grin broke out on Ella’s face, proud she had rendered the brunette a stuttering mess. Perhaps Wanda was right all along?
As they sat down to eat, Agatha noticed the bottle of champagne. “I didn’t think I had any champagne on hand.”
“Oh it was a gift from Wanda. Something about me being new to the neighborhood.” Ella shrugged it off.
“Wanda?”
“She dropped it off while you were downstairs.”

Once the two finished their meal, Elara moved to pop the cork, but Agatha grabbed her hand before she could. “Here let me, it’s the least I can do.” Agatha stood up and made her way inside having every intention to make sure the bottle wasn’t some kind of poison. “I’ll be right back, doll!”
Left to her thoughts, Ella began to run the past half hour over in her mind. Dinner had gone surprisingly well. Agnes had only caught her staring once or twice. They had started off making small talk about the upcoming events in Westview but somehow their conversation had turned to Ella’s past. To which Ella didn’t have much to say. All she knew was that she had been lonely, possibly upset and wanted a fresh start and before she knew it she was in Westview. Agnes looked upset upon hearing that she had been lonely and began apologizing. Ella merely laughed, thinking it strange how Agnes felt the need to apologize, ensuring her everything was okay. After all, since arriving in Westview everything had been going swimmingly so she couldn’t complain.
Hearing the back door swing open, then shut, Ella was pulled out of her thoughts and smiled as Agnes walked back to the table with the now open bottle. “Sorry to keep you waiting, hun, this bottle put up quite a fight!”
Elara giggled and Agatha returned to her seat across from her. “Now, are you sure you want a glass, dear?”
“I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve had a drink. It’ll be nice.”
Agatha remembered.
What an ordeal it had been too. Despite being in her early hundreds, Elara was a lightweight compared to Agatha who could drink almost anything and never feel a thing, much to Elara’s chagrin. On that particular night after a rather stressful magic lesson, the two decided to drink and one vodka soda later, Elara was attacking Agatha’s mouth with her own while various articles of her clothing had begun finding their way to the floor.
“Alrighty.” Agatha filled the two flute glasses and handed one to Elara before raising her own to her lips.
After the first glass the two decided to move inside to the couch. Agatha used her magic to put away the dishes that were outside.
Elara finished her second glass before her thoughts started slipping from her mouth unwarranted. Agatha merely cocked an eyebrow in amusement as she watched her tipsy wife passionately describe the ducks she had seen in the park during her walk with Wanda.
“That’s when Wanda gave me the idea. To make dinner tonight.”
“She did?”
“Yes!” Elara answered a little too enthusiastically. “I was supposed to seduce you but I think I forgot. Every time I look at you I...I forget everything I’m thinking, so I don’t know why I’m surprised.”
Agatha smirked, “Well my apologies for having that effect on you, love.” She then faked a whisper, “Can I tell you a secret?” Elara nodded and Agatha continued, “You make me feel the same way.”
Agatha laughed as Elara’s jaw dropped. “You’re too cute, toots.”
Ella felt a blush creep up her neck and poured another glass to hide her embarrassment. “I was afraid you’d think it strange, considering we just met a few days ago.”
-//-
Elara was completely gone after her third glass, and as usual, Agatha was completely unbothered. She was about to take Elara to bed when Agatha decided she’d take advantage of the situation, try and get a few more answers out of her about why she ended up in Westview. Perhaps the alcohol would let some memories slip through.
“I’ve already told you...I have no idea…”
“I know doll, but surely you remember something?”
After a moment Elara gasped as if all of a sudden she knew. In her excitement, she moved to sit on her knees and held Agatha’s shoulders. “I was...I was looking for something! Someone?”
“What darling? Who?” Finally they were getting somewhere. However her excitement was short-lived.
Elara started softly giggling again. “I like it when you call me that...darling.”
“And I like it when you answer my questions.” Agatha took Elara’s hands in her own, removing them from her shoulders. “Who were you looking for?”
Elara thought for a moment, searching for answers in Agatha’s face. “For some reason I think...I think I found her. Have we...do we know each other?”
Agatha merely frowned.
“I’m sorry, I really am!” Elara started giggling yet again, “It’s just, you’re very distracting. In a good way though! I mean...I think you're gorgeous. Kiss me?”
Agatha quickly grabbed her waist as Elara leaned in, trying to push her back, but it didn’t work. With a sigh and a wave of her hand, Agatha put her to sleep before anything could happen. Married or not, the idea of taking advantage of her giddy, under the influence, mind controlled wife didn’t sit right with Agatha. Slowly lowering Elara’s now limp body down onto the couch, she placed her head in her lap and began lazily twirling pieces of Elara’s blonde hair between her fingers.
“Well, that went well.”
