I know I can write in Digimoji
I’m sure that someone has pointed this out already, but I noticed that impmon’s new champion had digimoji written on it!

And that it spells out “PUNK”! Which I thought was a fun thing to the design

Though from the angle we see it at it is written backwards

digital angels mikimiki and mikemon ^0^!! for my digimon au. yapping below
as is Tradition by now i have to make a digimon au with these fools. shoutout to whoever asked this in the fuit gumy blog btw i love you /p. Yes they are. not necessarily there but you know
despite having infinitely more material to work with i don't know what a tetro digimon au would look like. do i do smth similar to my drdt digimon au, where it's like adventure+survive? do i do something silly like putting them in the canon kg but letting them escape frame 1 via their digimon? do i put them in a Battle Royale? i don't know yet! but here are everyone's partners and Crests (not final) :)
(i assigned crests based on their Most Defining Feature. the same crest may have different interpretations through different characters. i am leaving Zero Elaboration for crests bc of possible spoilers)
-) isono: mikemon (tailmon but orange + angel evolutions. haha digital angel. also nearly identical names); courage -) harada: elecmon (it just feels right + leomon evolutions. You know.); kindness -) chiba: tobucatmon (weird flying cat with unknown potential); courage -) kamimura: blacktailmon uver. (IT JUST FEELS RIGHT but also the first four mons are all cats and that's awesome); love -) hayashi: dobermon (intimidating virus-hunting vaccine mon); friendship -) wada: patamon (sad wet-eyed pathetic beast + angel evolutions, cohesion with isono); light -) sasaki: jazamon (foils with hiroaki, bird+machine rep); integrity -) ojima: terriermon (foils with monomoko, who is a white lopmon here); miracles -) okazaki: reppamon (it just feels right); knowledge -) hama: impmon x (two of them. hama also seems like he would vibe with beelzebumon); integrity -) tsuno: jellymon (TWO OF THEM. they vibe with each other HEAVY); hope -) hiroaki: vorvomon (foils with sasaki AND yanagi bc i'm not sure what else he could have); sincerity -) tamba: floramon (i actually STILL have no goddamn idea but we do need a plant rep and tamba seems like she'd have a bird rep and floramon is Both); friendship -) hasegawa: armadimon (funky animal + deep sea evolutions); knowledge -) watari: candmon (silly spooky fire guy + mage-ish evolutions); love -) yanagi: blucomon (foils with hiroaki + ice dragon that evolves into a Gallant and Dashing Knight); sincerity
if i feel like doing another fullbody somehow tsuno is next
edit: after further consideration im lockign in wada light and tsuno hope. these two crests share some fundamental similarities so i flip-flopped around them for a while but i'm more confident in these!
#gremlynposting#ingin menjadi illustrator namun enggan menggambar#tetro danganronpa pink#tdrp#isono miki#digimon#mikemon#gremlyn's tdrp x digimon au#two colored fullbodies in two weeks?? what has this series done to me.#the text on isono's clothes are digimoji. the official digimon language system#it translates to katakana for digital angel#Yes it was a valiant struggle to write

scholarly bug digifake! pulling together several of my favourite themes and tropes to hopefully settle on a digimon partner after all these years :^) info + name origins below the cut!
LARMON
Level: In-Training/Baby II | Attribute: Vaccine | Field: Virus Busters | Type: Larva
A Larva Digimon that hides in its cloth-like outer garment, using its long antennae to listen to the world around it. This Digimon's movement is limited, so it hitches rides by quietly attaching itself to the backs of larger creatures, which can cause an ominous feeling to come over the host as they mistake it for a haunting. This effect seems completely accidental, however, as Larmon themselves tend to be quite sweet-natured and encouraging if they can overcome their shy nature. Overwhelming situations can cause them to give a nasty bite.
Attacks
Phantom Nip - Gives a nasty pinch from its small mandibles.
Night Light - Produces a soft golden glow from its marking and tail that gently repels those of violent spirit.
Namesake
larva(n.) - 1630s, "a ghost, specter, disembodied spirit" (earlier as larve, c. 1600), from Latin larva (plural larvae), earlier larua "ghost, evil spirit, demon," also "mask," a word from Roman mythology, of unknown origin; de Vaan finds a possible derivation from Lar "tutelary god" (see Lares) "quite attractive semantically." Crowded out in its original sense by the zoological use (1768) which began with Linnaeus, who applied the word to immature forms of animals that do not resemble, and thus "mask," the adult forms. [source]
Lares(n.) - Roman tutelary gods and household deities, worshipped in primitive cult rites, Latin, plural of Lar, a word of unknown origin. Infernal, protective of the state and the family, they could be potently evil if offended. Their shrine in the home was a lararium. [source]
---
PUERMON
Level: Rookie/Child | Attribute: Vaccine | Field: Virus Busters | Type: Insect
An Insect Digimon with the self-imposed task of infiltrating Virus type groups and strongholds, and using its unique undercover position to learn everything it can, training itself to be able to restore peace and defend the just. In this way, Puermon is sometimes considered a "pest" infesting the networks of Virus Digimon. Highly industrious, Puermon takes its work very seriously, and can lose its temper with anyone who interferes or risks blowing its cover. Its crystalline sceptre is made of all the data Puermon has absorbed, its helix shape slowly building towards Evolution.
Attacks
Lucidate - Holds its staff high, casting a bright golden light that makes evil Digimon lose their fighting spirit and want to move away, and gives focus and sharpness of mind to those with good intentions. The light from this staff can also help make sense of such things as computer code and Digimoji. Puermon may also call out the name of this attack before simply giving someone a punishing bop on the head.
Namesake
pupil(n.1) [student], late 14c., "orphan child, ward, person under the care of a guardian," from Old French pupille (14c.) and directly from Latin pupillus (fem. pupilla) "orphan child, ward, minor," diminutive of pupus "boy" (fem. pupa "girl"), probably related to puer "child" (and thus probably from a suffixed form of PIE root *pau- (1) "few, little"). Meaning "disciple, student youth or any person of either sex under the care of an instructor or tutor" is recorded by 1560s. [source]
puerile(adj.) 1660s, "youthful, boyish," a back-formation from puerility (q.v.), or else from French puéril (15c.), from Latin puerilis "boyish; childish," from puer "boy, child." The depreciative sense of "merely juvenile, immature, lacking intellectual force" is from 1680s. [source]
---
AXLAMON
Level: Champion/Adult | Attribute: Vaccine | Field: Virus Busters/Wind Guardians | Type: Insect
An advanced Insect Digimon that has picked up some high-level programming language. Though lacking the formal training of Witchelny, it reached this level of sorcery through necessity and instinct. Because of this, its reflexes and quick thinking put it almost equivalent with the likes of its Witchelny peers, and it spun itself a similar outfit to lend itself credibility as a sorcerer and to hide its true face beneath its cloak.
Its staff has hardened into the shape of an insect's horns, the light of its gathered knowledge kept between them and giving it strength. This staff can be ridden like a broomstick, letting Axlamon hide its new wings inside the sleeves of its cloak.
Despite its outwardly solitary and ascetic temperament, it appears this is simply a mask over the same shyness it had as a Child-level Digimon, and its secretly-passionate heart can be counted on to uplift others and balance the odds at any cost when things look grim.
Attacks
Kindle - Raises its staff to shine a brilliant light. Allies find their best strengths amplified and their wounds healed, and blackhearted foes are weakened and driven back from the holy beacon. This attack can also make sense of computer code, Digimoji, and sometimes things spoken or written in code.
Sacrosanctuary - Stands its ground and casts an illuminated shield of immutable truths and promises around itself and its allies. Its commitment is equal to the strength of its shield.
Opine Flare - Burns off some of its absorbed information data, converting it to a missile of pure energy to strike with. Some data is lost in the conversion, making direct attacks costly.
Namesake
In entomology, "alate" usually refers to the winged form of a social insect, especially ants[2] [source]
alate(adj.) "having wings, winged," 1660s, from Latin alatus, from ala "wing, armpit, wing of an army," from *axla, originally "joint of the wing or arm;" from PIE *aks- "axis" (see axis). [source]
axis (plural axes or (rare) axiis) - (geometry) An imaginary line around which an object spins (an axis of rotation) or is symmetrically arranged (an axis of symmetry). / The centre of attention within a process (e.g. the axis of investigation). [source]
---
uhhh if you read this far thank you for the interest! maybe someday i'll do their Perfect/Ultimate form or beyond but for now i ran out of steam so this lil guy's future is mysterious...
please don't use this fakie without permission, but if you do wanna borrow him for a roleplay or something please don't be shy of asking at least, i'm pretty chill

sharing a little bit about this kantonian pokemon alphabet/font i made for my own usage based on the text seen in lets go (based off Pokemon Aaah!’s guide)

it allegedly appears to be based off Korean interestingly enough! which i unfortunately do not know enough linguistics knowledge to put into practice.
the letters start repeating themselves after L, but i wanted them to all have distinct shape equivalents, so i decided to flip them horizontally once they start repeating. i wasnt sure how i felt about it at first but it does makes for an interesting shape language visually, in addition to what i can only imagine would be a nightmare to read if you’re dyslexic
I had to make distinct shapes for Y and Z, which i just stole from Digimoji since im a fan of how it looks, and it fit the consistency of other letters nicely.
(as a personal gripe i also decided to flip F and G since it was confusing/annoying to me that the letter shaped so close to f was only one off from it, lmao.)
i’m not a huge fan of how spaced out it is, i had a hard time organizing wording on the little fake magazine piece i did, in addition to trying to figure out different font design off the cuff. here’s a few of the many different things i was testing format-wise before settling on the final

(oh, as another detail the symbols on Griffins shirt spell ‘PIKA’ in alolan! easily the coolest looking poke-alphabet imo)
Did you guys know that designing typography for a video game language that does not exist is Really Hard when you also don’t know anything about typography (shout out to my graphics design wizard friend avery for helping me w the composition <3)
designing their band logo was really fun though. a little sad the lightning bolt got cut off in the final but that’s what happens when you don’t think ahead lol. also made an english equivalent just for funsies
anyways i’m not sure how to go about remedying the letter’s spacing issue, im not sure how much of it is a font-problem (since they are really Block-y) or how much is a letter-design problem. maybe having new letters for certain common combinations (like one for ‘th’ or something?) though i wouldn’t know how to go about making that work conveniently with a font level at all. anyways figured i would share since i spent Way Too Much time messing with it

Digimon & Tamagotchi
Bandai V-Pet Crossovers Part 1 (Part 2)
In 1996 Bandai and WiZ inc. released the original Tamagotchi. To their surprise, the toy proved to be popular among boys as well, despite it being mostly marketed for girls. And in 1997, as a more targeted approach to this demographic, Digital Monsters was born!
A huge virtual pet boom followed and not only did Bandai and Wiz release new versions of Tamagotchi and Digital Monsters, and try multiple v-pets with a variety of styles within the next couple of years, but other companies also tried to bandwagon on the success of these virtual pets!
(Such as Nintendo in 1998 with the Pocket Pikachu-)
While the Tamagotchi was shaped like an egg (jap. tamago) with a crack in its shell where the screen is, the Digital Monster was shaped like a brick cage with bust-open bars! It also featured the ability to connect and battle! Otherwise they both use the same three button layout and similar menu icons. On the Tamagotchi, the toilet icon is portrayed by a duck themed potty, which is also used as the look for the Portable Potty items in many Digimon games.
Now with how closely these two franchises were developed, there's bound to be more that connects the two, right?
One such thing is Tamagotchimoji and Digimoji/DigiCode!
You can see that the two scripts are basically identical, just stylized differently. While Tamagotchimoji got used sparsely until they stopped using it in 2004 (But had a surprising comeback in one social media post on April 10, 2023?!), Digimoji has been used, and still is being used everywhere in the Digimon franchise! There is also a separate set of characters for the Latin Alphabet.
[Tamagotchimoji on the left, Digimoji on the right, respective Hiragana above the character]
Just like we know it from the Digimon Franchise, the Tamagotchi also grow through evolutionary stages along a branching path, depending on how well you take care of them! The original line of Tamagotchi as well as Digimon owe their designs to Kenji Watanabe! Generally all Tamagotchi's names end in "-tchi" or "-chi", similar to how Digimon names end in "-mon".
In these evolution charts, the Tamagotchi and Digimon are arranged by how well they've been taken care of / how good they are, with the top line being the best, and the bottom being the worst.
But that Tamagotchi chart is actually just the international version, which had "Bill" (aka Gaijintchi/Ketotchi) as secret character past the adult stage. Instead the Japanese version featured "Oyajitchi" (jap. oyaji means "old man").
But wait, doesn't that face look familiar...?
According to the Digimon Reference Book, Nanimon's true identity is unknown and it in fact came from another dimension, where it was known under the title OYAJI. In order to survive in the new environment of the Digital World, Nanimon had to go through a lot of training and battling.
Nanimon's name is also a play on its bizarre nature. In Japanese, "nanimon" is a casual abbreviation of "nanimono" which means "what (thing)". So, with intonation indicating a question, "nanimonda" can mean both "What are you?" or "I am Nanimon".
This joke is even included directly in Digimon World when the player encounters Nanimon.

「ん?なにもんだ?!」 "N? Nanimon da?!" “Huh? What are you?!” 「ナニモンだァ!」 "Nanimon da!" “I’m Nanimon!”
Nanimon's nature as an alien to this World is also reflected in his trait in the Card Game being "Invader".
Nanimon BT6-058 by Kenji Watanabe from BT-06 Booster Double Diamond
So yeah, Nanimon is supposed to be Oyajitchi who came from the Tamagotchi World to the Digital World.
Stay tuned for next friday when we talk about another World connected to the Digital World!
Special thanks to: tamagotchi wiki, gotchi-garden and tamatalk for being great resources!

CainVamdemon
Nível Perfeito/ Kanzentai/ Ultimate
Atributo Virus
Tipo Fera Demoníaca
Campo Soldados do Pesadelo (NSo)/ Área Negra (DA)
Filho da Meia-noite (Midnight Son) Emite uma Sombra Amaldiçoada que avança tão veloz que transpassa o inimigo corrompendo toda sua programação no processo;

Refs for my Witchelny digi OCs. Forge and Wes are twins; Solomon is their adopted little sibling. I've had these silly guys for over ten years-
Transcript under cut (but with extra details bc I either forgot to write it, or I couldn't write it all out.)
Forge:
Dual Matchstick Wands. Arrows point from the blue wand to his right belt holster, and red to his left holster.
Compression sleeve(neck and right arm) + Elbow(left arm)
Left side of mouth: Two stitches
Right side of mouth: Five stitches.
When in battle mode, the coat-tails and shoulders become animated flames.
They generate heat, but don't burn to the touch (unless he wills it to. He wouldn't tho.)
Wesley:
oh shit i forgot to write notes on the img itself uuuhh
Hair is braided.
Cracks on the hat's skull mirror the scars on his own face.
Also the eyes of the skull are synced with Wes' eyes.
Pendant on his cloak is a round doll head?. Looks similar to the Digimon V-Pet logo, but with three stitches on the mouth instead of three teeth.
Right leg zipper is a grinning expression.
Left leg zipper is opened, and a void maw.
Solomon:
Scar on right cheek.
Doesn't have a hat. Wears a hood sewn into his cloak instead.
Hair is short + messy.
They don't have a staff anymore, either.
Right leg zipper is a sad expression.
Bakumon form's furr is the same colour as his hair as Sorcerimon.
They devolve to their Rookie stage when exhausted, sick, or hungry.
(they also have the same Digimoji on their cape as Wesley, i just forgor to copy it over.)
I'm still ???? about some colours so these might bee updated someday
#im Anxious abt posting OCs publicly anymore but im trynna get over it haha [sweating]#akgOCs#DigimonMiasma#akg2023#akgOC: Forge#akgOC: Wesley#akgOC: Solomon#digimon#Wes was originally meant to have red eyes but I had to make them green to match Forge#now i needa work on Gen's ref but i'm stuck with certain details and i don t hav anybody to help with feedback aaaaa-#anyway expect more stuff from Miasma i've been working on this project for many years-#putting species tags at the end so they dont show up in tracked tags#wizarmon#flawizarmon#sorcerymon

More Digitwst! Ortho Shroud stuff (this post is technically like. Months old, I only just got around to finishing it)
Some notes about her under the cut:
She is an AI created by her brother (Idia). She interacts with her brother through an app that he made in the Net Ocean (appmon influence lol) she spends most of her time in the Digital World though. The upper left drawing is meant to represent that. Idia is looking in on her through his tablet, and Ortho Shroud feels small in comparison (there is so much going on with them lol)
Due to (my headcanons of) digimon/digital world customs, if you introduce yourself as something, then that’s what you’re called. Nicknames and shortening of names is only for close friends/partners or family, otherwise it’s seen as rude. As Ortho Shroud introduces herself with her full name, that’s what I will refer to this AU’s version of her as
The full body drawing is of her design once she joins the main group, being this “season’s” 6th ranger character for the main cast of freshman. All of them are 12 in this AU however,to better fall into digimon’s usual age group. For the anime at least. As for notes on her actual design, I was inspired by that one time twst was promoting some merch, and had all the characters dressed up in the tee shirts they were selling. Here’s the picture of what I’m talking about:

Ortho Shroud has a very similar top to this, the only real difference is the sleeves being shorter and the waistband sectioning her shirt. This creates the added effect of making it look kinda like she’s wearing a skirt, which I think deserves! Tbh I’m not entirely sure on the colors of her mask, I just know I wanted it to have those cyan accents. Same with the shoes, I wanted to give her some pink on her design and felt like those would be a good place for it, but idk. If I color her again, I’ll probably play around with that some more. I also decided to give her some LED bracelets, of which can change colors! This girl is Glow In The Dark. Her waistband also has her name written on it in the Latin alphabet of Digimoji, the writing system of the digital world.
Everyone in the main cast lives in the Ramshackle Mansion, and so the sign is the one she made to put outside of her door! Also, no ships will be made canon in this AU, but I thought it would be cute if Ortho Shroud had a crush on this AU’s version of Yuu. I think it could be made into a running gag that Yuu and Grim have no fucking clue about it while everyone else just pities her for falling for the only one who doesn’t realize Ortho Shroud’s crush on her. (Everyone agrees that if they were in Ortho Shroud’s shoes they probably also would’ve fallen for/developed an attachment to Yuu, based on sexuality and all, but feel bad that somehow Yuu hasn’t noticed the multitude of times the tips of Ortho Shroud’s hair goes punk when around them. The reason for this crush is because Yuu was the one to save her from letting the underworld take her when she falls in) (Yes, Yuu is the one who jumps in in this AU, not Vil, as 1) Vil isn’t here and 2) Grim also fell in. Like hell (heh) Yuu’s not going to do anything about that)
The comic is just a silly joke that perhaps only I find funny, about the design of most female presenting Digimon and the fact that Ortho never actually wears clothes, just different gears (like for real. Why are we seeing her ribs and stuff? I know that naturally skinny people exist, I’m one of them, but either she’s not wearing clothes or they’re so tight that you can see that. It’s fine cause she’s a robot, but I thought it’d be funny to draw attention to in this way)
Also the eye mask version of her design is a beanie and she lets her hair down. She’s also able to eat even though she doesn’t need to if she has a mouth, because everything is made of data. She’s also able would not be able to eat analog world food because it’s made of DNA and not 1s and 0s. Good thing she can’t go to the analog world ig?
And finally the drawing at the bottom is her when she just started out at STYX, young, naïve, non sentient, and then there’s a picture of her after she’s worked at STYX for who knows how long. Transitioning helped, but the weight of time still exists
Anyways, hope y’all liked this and my ramblings!

Another Lv.7/Super Ultimate concept, this time something a bit more heroic. This is Gilgamon, Jogress of my Xros WarGreymon and GalaxyLocomon.
I agonized over this one quite a bit. Asked for quite a bit of advice, went back and forth on a bunch of ideas, ended up translating the opening lines of The Epic of Gilgamesh into DigiMoji and then inscribing it onto half its body O_O That in and of itself was a process. Got caught on the hands and head for quite a while.
While I was definitely pulling from Omnimon/Omegamon a lot for this one, I really did want to differentiate it a lot visually from it. I think I accomplished that?
Still working on a card idea for this one. I have it's first effect down: [When Digivolving] Your opponent trashes their hand, then both players <Draw 1> for each card trashed. If DNA digivolving, this Digimon isn't affected by your opponent's effects until the end of their turn. But that's really it. I chose that effect because Jay's Locomon deck likes to draw cards, and my deck is mill based, so it accomplishes both goals. Sadly our decks don't actually mesh together like that, and I don't want to convince him to make his cards Black/Yellow just so they flow together slightly better, because that also raises evo costs and the like. (Hey, me from the future, I convinced him to make his cards black/yellow.)

Case 11 - Beware of the new Amanogawa High student!!
[AO3 version]
It had been a while since the 02 group had gotten a call from Inspector Fujieda. Apparently their capers with Arsenemon had turned less frequent. But that one from that night they just had settled that they would stop him from gathering the pieces of the ‘forbidden Digimental’ and recover the stolen ones.
(Ok, this was more of a Daisuke-only obsession than anything…)
“WAIT THERE, ARSENEMON!!” XV-mon screamed, while trying to catch up with the phantom thief. Daisuke was on his back, holding on the digimon’s neck.
“Non non, I have to go now” Arsenemon smiled, and then with a snap of fingers and a cloud of smoke… he vanished, “Adieu, Chosen Children~”
The Smoke was dispersed and Daisuke looked around with a pair of binoculars. No signal about Arsenemon!! Dang it!!
“He escaped!!” Daisuke growled, “Ugh, we were THIS close this time!!”
“Daisuke--” XV-mon was about to say something, but then his stomach growled, “... I’m hungry…”
“Alright…” Daisuke frowned, and with a sigh he said “Let’s go back and eat dinner…”
Ken spent the entire night thinking about the time he and the group discovered that the mysterious broken gems stolen by Arsenemon were… pieces of a Digimental. But not a regular Digimental, and yes a forbidden one.
He turned the computer on and started checking his old Kaiser-era tools, in order to check if he ever had that information before. He checked every archive and transcription of old digimoji materials like books, scrolls, walls, etc…
… Enough to fall asleep on the keyboard until morning.
One of the pages had the results of the time he had begun studying the Digimentals in order to counter Daisuke and the others’ powers, but he had given up on securing those objects before his former rivals.
“Ken-chan?”
In the morning, the sunlight hit the balcony’s glass and he was still there, sleeping on the keyboard. Wormmon Armor-evolved into Pucchiemon and went to wake Ken up.
“Ken-chan?” Pucchiemon gently shook Ken by the shoulder, “Wake up, you will get late for school…!”
“Uh… W-what!?” Ken opened his eyes, “Pucchiemon?”
“Hurry up, you will be late for school!!”
“Aa-ah!! Right, the school!!” He panicked for a second, then got up from the chair and went to change into his school uniform.
Pucchiemon looked at the computer next and realized there was something in Ken’s research, so he saved the info on an email and sent it to Miyako. Ken returned dressed for school and looked at Pucchiemon on the computer, “Huh, what did you do…?”
“Oh! I copied the part you highlighted from your documents and sent it to Miyako-san! If that's okay, right?”
“Ah, thanks for the help Pucchiemon” Ken smiled and gave the tiny fairy digimon a pat, “But why did you evolve into this form?”
“I think any other alternative would be bad for using the computer, hehe” Pucchiemon chuckled awkwardly. Ken imagined Stingmon’s hands would be too big and powerful for a computer, and he wouldn’t fit inside the room either…
“CRAP, I’LL BE LATE AGAIN!!” Daisuke had overslept, and lost the train. So he had to wait for another train and now he was super late, running as fast as he could and without paying enough attention to his surroundings…
“DAISUKE, WATCH OUT!!” Chibimon screamed but it was too late. Daisuke tried to stop to not collide with this person in front of him -- A blonde boy with bangs covering his eyes -- but it was a bad idea.
He just flew against the boy and BAM! Fell over the poor kid.
“I told you to be careful…” Chibimon was on the top of the ‘human pile’ and shaking his head.
“Ack! I’m-- Gah! I’m sorry!!” Daisuke got up and babbled apologies nonstop, then he helped the other to get up, “You OK?”
“Y-yes… I’m…” the boy was also in panic, “I’m sorry I should’ve paid attention to my surroundings…!!”
“No, it was just Daisuke who was careless,” Chibimon commented with a shrug.
“I already said sorry, Chibimon…!”
“I-it’s okay…” the boy tried to stop them from fighting, “Besides I’m new here so I’m… lost? And late for school,I presume…”
“Oh?” The duo looked at the stranger, and realized he was wearing the same uniform as Daisuke’s.
“Ah! I know where it is!!” Daisuke grinned, “You’re going to Amanogawa High, right? I study there too!! We’re getting hella late at this point, I’ll show ya my shortcut!”
“Shortcut?” the other blinked (though it wasn’t visible for anyone else because of the hair bangs in his face. Chibimon jumped from Daisuke’s back and evolved to V-mon.
“Hey, didn’t the principal say--” V-mon tried to argue, but!
“It’s okay, we don’t do this every single day so…” Daisuke pointed the digivice at V-mon, and then the digimon evolved into XV-mon. Daisuke dragged the new student to XV-mon’s back and the phantom dragon sighed.
“Fine, just only this time. Brace yourselves.”
“What are you--” the shy kid started his question, but XV-mon jumped into the sky and flew to the school’s yard “AA-aa--AAAAAAAAA--!!!”
“Hahaha! Hey don’t worry, it’s okay… The first time it’s a little scary but, XV-mon is a good bud.”
“Hmmm…!!”
“I won’t let you fall” XV-mon said, “If you fall, I can catch you before you hit the ground”
“S-sure…??”
“I’m Motomiya Daisuke, and this is my digimon partner, XV-mon” Daisuke introduced himself with a smile.
“I’m… N-Noel Le-Leblanc…” the kid replied, shyly and still afraid of falling from that height…
“Ah! So that’s why you said you’re new here! You’re an overseas student, right?? If you need anything you can ask me!”
“R-r-right…!!”
Once they arrived at school, Daisuke decided to give Noel a little help to get used to the school facilities, also a few train lines to get back and forth from school. It was too much information, the boy was taking notes, and asking a few questions with a timid voice.
Hikari and Takeru saw Daisuke with this new kid, but they noticed he was busy explaining stuff (in the most Daisuke-way as possible) that the moment Daisuke saw Takeru he asked for help.
Takeru was also nice, he and Hikari joined in the tour, and covered the subjects Daisuke wasn’t good at explaining. It was fun, except…
… All of them arrived late for their classes 💧
After class… Daisuke, Takeru and Hikari met with the others at the same karaoke booth. Daisuke was complaining about something and being comforted by Hikari and Takeru.
“Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I forgot today I was on morning duty!! *sigh* Goddammit!!”
“It’s okay, it’s okay… At least you explained to the teacher that you were helping the new student…” Hikari said gently.
“Hikari-chaaaan…” he was… crying now?
“New student?” Iori showed some curiosity on the subject.
“Yeah, Daisuke-kun helped him by showing the way to our school” Takeru replied, “He’s a 1st grade overseas student named Noel Leblanc.”
“I wonder what it's like to study abroad…” Miyako mused, “Maybe it’s scary but a good challenge…”
Ken looked at her, then he asked: “Miyako-san, did you read what Wormmon sent to you while I was busy?”
“Oh right! That’s why I called you all here!” She took her laptop and put it on the karaoke booth’s table.
“??” The other four and their partner digimon looked at the laptop’s screen.
“What is in the wall of text, Miyako??” Daisuke asked, clearly overwhelmed by the document.
“Um… *ahem* This is an old research I did when I was the Kaiser” Ken explained instead, quite embarrassed by this, “I gave up on it because I believed the Digimentals weren’t… useful.”
“He’s sulking because he was wrong about it… Ain’t he, dagya?”
“Yeah, he’s pretty much sulking here,” V-mon agreed with a nod.
“Sure sure,” same as Patamon.
“You guys are not helping here… 💧” Daisuke sighed.
Ken was feeling like he got stabbed by those comments and this hurt him harder than he could imagine. But he calmed down and continued: “If I can trust past me’s logs and notes, there were more than eight Digimentals in the past.”
“Right…” Daisuke said seriously, “There’s the Digimental of Miracles and Destiny too…”
“And Ichijouji-kun turned his Crest into a Digimental before,” Hikari added.
“Turns out that King Shoutmon’s story is legit.” Miyako continued, “Old transcripts found in the ruins mentioned a Digimental called ‘Digimental of Desire’ and it was too powerful, even more than the golden Digimentals we know.”
“But one detail in King Shoutmon’s story intrigues me” Tailmon looked at them, seriously, “If Vulcanusmon hid it… How did it reappear now in our current era, and broken into pieces?”
“I can answer that…” Ken seemed a bit… nervous now.
“Can you?” V-mon asked, innocently.
“... Ok, are you ready to know?” and the boy sighed.
“Yes/Yeah/Mhm!!”
“... I… I found it and broke it.”
“YOU WHAT!?” they all exclaimed together, in shock.
“Ken, how did you wreck a Digimental, dude!? Daisuke babbled, “What the heck!”
“With the power of a strong servant digimon and the ire of a god” Wormmon answered it, ashamed. Ken frowned, better none of the digimon know it…
“Another item to the Digimon Kaiser’s crime list” V-mon shrugged.
“If it was the strongest Digimental, why did you break it (dagya)!?” Hawkmon, Armadimon and Patamon asked in unison.
“..............”
“You couldn’t lift it, right?” The rest of the 02 group asked with an annoyed voice tone.
“G-guys… I… I tried to get rid of it because I didn’t want you to acquire it!! 💦”
“Yeah, he couldn’t lift it, so threw a tantrum and broke it” the others shook their heads. Ken felt an extra dose of shame.
“C-come on… I… No, you’re right…” he sighed again.
“I never thought you could break a Digimental…” Takeru commented, “That was a surprise to me.”
“So how many pieces did ya shatter this one, Ken?” Daisuke glanced at his best friend, “I’m not mad, I just wanna know how many of them we need to find before Arsenemon.”
“Uhh… Wormmon, do you remember the exact number of pieces we gathered and tried to hid without letting anyone know?”
“20 Pieces.”
“And how many pieces have we lost to Arsenemon so far?” Iori asked nonchalantly.
“3 pieces.”
“Counting with the ones with Izumi-senpai…” Miyako reported, “we have two pieces.”
“So there’s 15 pieces left…” Tailmon mused.
“But why would Arsenemon want those?” Hawkmon frowned, “I mean, he wouldn’t be a bad digimon, could he…? He stopped that Meicoomon from getting in trouble at that time.”
“Maybe he wants it for himself!!” Daisuke mused, “I’ve seen bad guys doing good things sometimes so…”
“Hmm…”
However, Ken’s old notes and research on the Digimentals did not clarify one important detail about the Digimental of Desire… … That its usage requires paying with a grand cost in return, so it was turned into a forbidden tool and hidden by Vulcanusmon.
“Boss!!” Espimon flew as fast as she could and stood in front of someone, who was definitely Arsenemon in disguise, “I’ve caught the signal of another piece!!”
“Ah… Now?” He blinked, “Hmm… Where is it?”
“Inside this residence, by the way” Espimon showed a holographic map with a house, the house had a family name plate saying Shinjo.
“Oh? Hmm… I wonder if they’re aware of that…”
“Of what, boss?”
He shrugged, “Well, it won’t hurt to check it out ourselves. But I like to play a cat and rat game with that group of human children…”
“I see… If my radar is correct, they’re… Leaving the karaoke bar.”
“But how will we find those pieces?” Hikari mused, “Miyako-san, Ichijouji-kun do you have anything we could use to track them?”
“Uh… I…” they started together, but they stopped.
“What if we let Arsenemon send those cards and get’ em?” Daisuke suggested, “So we know when he will attack and then we can counterattack!”
“That sounds easier to say than done,” Iori commented.
“Right, you didn’t catch him until now so how can we be sure to catch him first, dagya?”
“H-HEY!!” Daisuke and V-mon hissed, “We almost caught him last night!!”
“And with this he got three pieces ahead of us” Patamon shook his head.
“You don’t need to remember us!! 💦”
“Patamon, you don’t need to tease them like that…” Takeru frowned, “Next time I’m sure Daisuke-kun and V-mon will catch him.”
“We will get him for sure!” Daisuke clenched his fists.
Suddenly something like a flier flew on Daisuke’s face. He growled irritated, and took the paper, then everyone noticed it was a small black card with a golden paw in it. A calling card!!
“Arsenemon made his move!” Wormmon exclaimed, and Ken immediately snatched the card from Daisuke’s hands.
“H-Hey!!”
“He says he will be going to Shinjo’s residence tonight to steal a treasure.” Ken read it, “Maybe for this one we can follow Daisuke’s idea.”
“Wait… Really?”
“Hmm, I will talk to Izumi-senpai and see if we can program a radar for the remaining pieces,” Miyako added, “Just don’t screw this up, Daisuke.”
“W-what? Wait, what do ya mean!?? Why do y’all think it’s my fault!?”
“We need to discover where to find this residence” Iori commented, “Hmm… I think I’ve seen someone whose family name is Shinjo before…”
“Hm? Who is?” Hawkmon asked, curious.
“There’s a new cafe shop, they are like a place for Chosen and digimon to gather and meet each other.”
“Oh that’s right! That one!” Miyako smiled, “I went there before to deliver some supplies!”
“Why does Iori know about that place?” V-mon was also curious.
“I passed by there once, saw Koushiro-san inside and I met this barista called Shinjo Michi.”
“We have to talk to her then! So let’s go--” He stopped walking and looked at someone a few meters away from them.
“What’s wrong?” Armadimon asked, and then everyone looked from Daisuke’s direction, seeing Noel kinda lost.
“Can y’all handle this for me?” he asked, with the palms of his hands together, “I have something to do…!!”
“Huh?” Miyako blinked, “Is it about that kid there?” But Daisuke and V-mon left, “D-don’t leave when we’re talking to you, Daisukeeee!!!”
“Who’s that boy Daisuke-san is talking to?” Iori asked Takeru and Hikari.
“That’s the new overseas student we talked about,” Takeru explained, “Daisuke-kun said he would help him with anything he needed…”
“I guess he’s lost again…?” Hikari frowned.
“... What was his name again?” Ken asked out of the blue, watching the other two boys and V-mon talking in the distance.
“Noel Leblanc, but why?” she replied.
“Out of curiosity,” then he turned to say to the others, “Let’s go to that cafe shop then…”
The group stood in front of the mentioned cafe and then Hikari noticed a barista talking with… Lune?! When they stepped in, they were received by a Lopmon (the owner’s partner)
“Welcome, please take a seat. I’ll send someone to take your orders.” and the long eared digimon gestured to a free table for five.
They thanked and sat on the free table, and then Hikari looked discreetly at Lune and the girl who looked like her somehow. There was something off there but could she tell what was?
“... Besides that,” they heard Lune talking to the girl, “I think you should be aware of your surroundings, Michi-san. I sense something… Extremely troublesome coming.”
She took her cup of espresso and left, waving, with Lunamon munching something that looked like a strawberry flavored candy.
“I wonder what she meant by that…” Miyako muttered to the group. Until Shinjo Michi went to take their orders.
“Hello, Welcome to Cafe Truffle!” Michi said, enthusiastically, “I’ll be your barista today, so can I take your orders?”
“Yeah!” Miyako spoke energetically “I would like a frappuccino, a strawberry cheesecake with tons of whipped cream, and two chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing, and one super sweet sundae, please.”
“M-Miyako-san…” the kids blinked while the digimon started asking stuff… Except Tailmon.
“W-wow… I mean, r-right!” Michi blinked, once she finished taking their orders, “Excuse me, I’ll prepare your order.” and she left their table.
“Miyako-san, we came here to talk with her about Arsenemon” Iori whispered, but he was calm.
“Oh… I… I got hungry, sorry hehe… And it’s rude to come in and not order anything, so I had to…!”
Hikari went after Michi, and called the other’s attention, “Um, Shinjo Michi-san?
“Yes?” Then Michi was cutting the strawberry cheesecake.
“Um, we came here to talk with you about a digimon.”
“Hm?” she looked at Hikari, smiling, “About which digimon?”
Ken left the table and went to meet with both girls, “A phantom thief digimon who has targeted your home.”
“W-what??” she stopped preparing Miyako and the digimon’s order and stared at them, in shock, “What do you mean??”
“Michi” Plotmon (her partner) came in “Someone left a note here…”
“A note!?” Michi then took the paper from Plotmon’s mouth. Ken and Hikari noticed it was the same style of the calling card that flew on Daisuke’s face, “You gotta be kidding!! Is this a prank!?”
“We got one too…” Ken showed her theirs, but the 02 group version was more casual -- as if they were already friends.
“Who’s this Arsenemon and why is he--”
“Because of this Digimental fragment you have” and then he showed his phone with the photos of the pieces stolen and the ones they had sent to Koushiro.
“This thing wasn’t a normal gem?!” both Michi and Plotmon exclaimed.

Episode 24.
This is the debut of Archnemon's humanoid form, though you will only notice she is a Digimon through the Digimoji that appears when she invades Ken's room. Though she is depicted as a horror villain, she will become much more comical later on.
Ankylomon, and Stingmon debut here, and the concept of Digimon created out of Dark Towers, though the latter is only teased.
With this, only Aquilamon is missing, which will be the next episode.
Edit: It is Digimoji, not Dijimoji. This has been corrected.
Edit 2: Fixing Arachnemon to Archnemon.

Okay so like logically, one would figure out the symbols in Digimon meant something, right? I mean, some of the squigly Digimon script has been there from the beginning, surely they'd have assigned meaning by now, yeah?
Well, I was today years old when I found out it's called 'Digimoji' and apparently the cypher was determined back when Adventure was developed because people can actually read things from the first series. This wasn't just random symbols; they made the whole-ass syllabary AND a Latin alphabet, and it's been there since the start.
We sometimes think of ciphers and conlangs as a modern thing, like before 2005 or so anyone besides Tolkien and Zamenhof were just scribbling and babbling for their fictional languages, but Tales of has been doing ciphers for several games now, and here's another example of an even fuller cipher going back 25 years.
I guess I'm just thinking about how we take older works for granted or think of them as less because they for children or considered 'old', which is sad, but I'm also super pleased about the love that goes into creating right now.
