It starts like this — Carole passes away, Bradley already lives with them, so not much changes, but there's a period when CPS gets a bit too involved and he's taken away from them (from Mav only, technically, since Ice is a secret they're keeping hush-hush) and when he is given back to them, finally comes back to them, there's a month Bradley sleeps with them in their bedroom. Both because he's having nightmares every other night and this way they can make sure he wakes them up when they happen, and because Mav is paranoid and can't fall asleep if Bradley isn't in his range of sight. He understands the sentiment — it does feel like he's going to be taken away from them any time they aren't looking.

Bradley does eventually go back to his own room — he's almost a teenager, it's inevitable — and Mav does eventually start sleeping through the night.

But Ice is a light sleeper and an insomniac.

He wakes up one night, well past midnight and thinks he's heard something. He doesn't wake up Mav, just stands up as quietly as he can, and goes down the corridor, until he steps into their living room and under the dim light from the street lamp, curled up on their couch, Bradley is sitting with Tom's old Flight Manual on his lap.

He closes it, caught red-handed, as soon as he notices Tom.

"Buddy, you've got school," he says softly.

"I can't sleep."

"You still gotta try," he says because kids need sleep. "Come on, I'll tuck you in."

He doesn't even protest when Tom kisses his forehead, like he's been lately.

Ice goes back to their bedroom but he's still tossing and turning, something nagging him, pulling at the back of his head and at the heart inside his chest.

He gets up and Bradley isn't in the living room or the kitchen but he can hear the ruffling of the sheets through the door to his room.

When he peeks his head inside, Bradley turns towards him, the big doe eyes wide awake but crinkling as he tries to pop the covers more over himself, like he can hide away from him.

"Still can't sleep?"

Bradley shakes his head.

"Me neither," he confesses. Then, because Bradley looks—he just looks so sad and so tired and he doesn't want to leave him alone in the dark, just with his dino night lamp in the socket glowing green. "You mind if I lie down with you?"

He promises himself he'll stop once Bradley's nightmares disappear but he never does. Not when Bradley starts middle school, not when he graduates middle school, not when he's studying for his SAT, not when he's going to prom.

When Bradley leaves for college storms away, screaming he hates them and he never wants to see them again he can't kick the habit down either.

“He’ll come back, there’s still four weeks before he’s supposed to check into his dorms, he—” he tries to be logical about it, tries not to panic, tries to keep his head cool. He reasons, begs for it to be true. “He has nowhere else to go.”

“Yeah, he has nowhere else to go, Ice,” Mav says and he sounds terrified. “Nowhere.”

Bradley's always had Mav's stubbornness and Mav knows better than anyone that Bradley isn't going to relent no matter how hard it gets for him.

That night, he wakes up and Mav isn't in their bed.

When he gets up to check on him, he doesn't find him in the kitchen or in the living room, or even in their laundry room, trying to fill the sleepless night with forgotten chores.

Last place Tom checks is Bradley's bedroom, hope blooming in his chest as he reaches the doorknob.

Mav is asleep, his nose diving into Bradley's pillows, Bradley's pyjama top curled into a ball under his arm.

Tom steps into the room and crawls in next to him.

Bradley doesn't come back.

Ice never allows himself to venture into Bradley's room, not to do more than dust the place, and never actually sleeps in there without Mav. Not when Mav gets deployed, not when Mav is stationed in Nevada or Hawaii, not when it gets so lonely and the texts remain unanswered, calls are ignored, not when he spends sleepless nights on the couch downstairs, thinking about how he could turn back time and fix everything so they could still have their kid.

Not even when they moved into a bigger house, Bradley's room packed and unpacked at the new address, hoping he'd return there at some point — maybe after college, maybe after he gets his wings, maybe just, one day.

The only time he slips in there in the evening is the night he notices a blue Bronco in front of their house and sees it drive away as soon as he opens the door and then doesn't get a reply to his text.

He's at the end of his chemo plan and Mav's been trying to get Bradley to come down and talk to him, just in case, just for the support, and Bradley's seemingly ignoring it all.

But he was there. He could recognize the car anywhere.

He wakes up around midnight and his tired mind tells him Bradley might have come back and he walks down the hall and opens the door and—

And the room is untouched, a bit dusty, and there are no sheets, just the bare mattress and the sausage dog pillow Mav bought Bradley when he kept on insisting he wanted a dog when he was sixteen, and Tom lies down and hugs the pillow and tries to fall asleep, trembles through the cold air in the room, waking up from time to time.

The first time Bradley stays over after the mission, in his own room, untouched in almost fifteen years, Ice wakes up at two in the morning, feeling like the whole day — Bradley ringing the doorbell, Bradley helping Mav cook, Bradley eating dinner with them, Bradley grabbing clean bedsheets from Ice's hands, Bradley hugging them goodnight — was a figment of his imagination and he'll come downstairs to have breakfast and Bradley will still be on the other side of the States and not even answering their texts.

He shouldn't have — Bradley is an adult now, he needs privacy and Tom doesn't want to scare him away by not giving him what he needs once again — but he can't stop thinking the reality is going to betray him in the morning.

He walks down the hall, the automatic light turning on as he goes further, until he stands in front of Bradley's door.

He opens it just a smidge, so he can have a look, but the light is so bright in the corridor, and Bradley's sleepy face grimaces at him before he lifts his head up.

"You okay?" he asks Tom, as if he was the parent here.

Tom should leave, but he can't. He just stands there, looking at Bradley's sleepy face and squinted eyes and can't stop.

Bradley raises an eyebrow, falls down back on his pillow, and pats the space in front of him, covers ruffling.

Ice steps in and his hand reaches Bradley's face as soon as he's sat down, gets the curls off his forehead and then caresses his cheek, so much more coarse than he remembers, the unshaved skin tickling his fingers.

Bradley pushes his cheek closer into his palm and he's almost purring under Tom's affection.

"You can sleep here if you want to, Pops," he murmurs, eyes closed, hair out of place, curls falling on his forehead again. "'m sure Mav won't be too jealous."

Pops. He still can't believe he's getting called that again.

He crawls in, feeling his knees protest, and tucks Bradley — into his arms and under the covers.

Bradley moves in with them, a bit reluctantly, but he does — military housing is and always will be crappy, he's been moving from place to place so he has two suitcases and a keepsake box to his soul, and they're still trying to rebuild their family — and that's enough to give Tom a second life.

Tom still wakes up at night, still feels the panic that he'll go back to sleep and in the morning, Bradley won't be there, so instead of tossing and turning, he gets up and just goes to have a look anytime he needs.

Because he can do that now, again. He can walk down the hall and take a peek and maybe even have a chat with Bradley if he's awake and just look his fill until he calms down.

It's one of those nights — he wakes up and even Mav's soft breathes can't lull him back to sleep so he gently untangles himself from their bed and walks down the hall, opens the door to Bradley's bedroom.

Bradley is so used to it by now he doesn't even stir up at the light from the corridor. Instead, Tom hears a, "Huh?" in an unfamiliar voice and Jake 'Hangman' Seresin's head pops up from behind Bradley's shoulder.

He shuffles, blinking at Tom and the bright light, like he's confused about what he's seeing, and Tom notices his arm peeking out of the covers, wounding back around Bradley but this time on top of the duvet.

Tom backs out and closes the door behind himself.

"Jake Seresin is in Bradley's room," he says dumbly once he sits down back in bed.

Mav turns around to him, blinking at their night table light, and pulling the covers back over Tom's legs, scooping him to get back to the cuddling they had going on

Sleepily, he looks at Tom like he lost his mind and asks, "What time is it?"

"Mav," he repeats. "Jake Seresin is in Bradley's bed."

"They're thirty, dear." Mav doesn't even open his eyes. "You can't exactly be outraged about... you know."

"He sneaked in," he points out. "Into our son's room, under our roof."

"Pretty sure he just used the front door when you were asleep," he says, pulling on Tom's arm so he lies down. "Be glad you didn't walk into anything."

"Mav."

"Baby," Mav says, and his eyes are only half-open but he tries to hold his gaze as he leans back from where his chin rests on Tom's arm. "I know it feels like he's still seventeen but he's not. He's—He's all grown, okay?"

"He's still our kid."

"He is," Mav agrees softly, voice moussed with sleep. "Which means you can give Seresin your famous icy glare in the morning. Now, though, just go back to sleep. He'll still be there in the morning."

He'll be, Tom knows, but for how long? They've barely managed to talk him into moving in with them and even that was stretching the social norms a bit — most kids don't live their parents once they finish college, after all — but Tom didn't want him to go anywhere.

"Do you think they could move in here?"

Mav only gives him a confused, "Hmm?"

"When they get married, do you think they could live with us?"

There's enough space, the house is huge, and it's certainly better than any military housing they could get. Maybe they could stay at least for a bit, save up for a mortgage downpayment, or maybe just hold onto this place until they stop being regularly deployed.

Mav lifts his head, one eye open, giving him the look. "You already plannin' their wedding?"

"I don't mean Seresin specifically, just whoever Bradley marries," he explains. He's not sure he likes the idea of Seresin, the I'm-better-than-you-lone-wolf as Bradley's anything. "Do you think we could talk him into staying even when he gets married?"

"I dunno," Mav says, nuzzling into his shoulder again. "The housing market is shit so maybe? Probably would be easier for him, too, if he decides to have kids."

"Kids," Tom repeats numbly. "We could—We could watch them when we retired, right?"

Bradley's been seventeen in his mind for so long he didn't even let himself think about Bradley having kids of his own.

"Baby," Mav says. "He's not going to have kids overnight, not with Seresin anyway. Just go back to sleep, please."

Seventeen with a s/o who works on an animal farm

🍒 Seungcheol is extremely fascinated when you tell him. 

Two thoughts immediately come to his mind. First, what do you do on the animal farm and is it a lot of work? Second, he thinks of you lying in a field being surrounded by fluffy animals. You’re already the cutest bean ever but you and animals? He doesn’t think his heart can take that sight. 

When you do get a chance to bring him back to the farm, seungcheol follows you around to get a sense of what you do. What needs to be done, which animals need more care, how do you feed them. He knew you worked hard but seeing you in your element and how much work goes into working on an animal farm? He falls in love with you all over again. To help, he becomes your handyman. It’s a farm, equipment and fencing can break down. He fixes everything for you. He even builds you a whole new chicken coop. He doesn’t want you to get hurt by the stiff wires. 

Seungcheol’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The chicken coop. He built it. You can find him there gathering eggs in the morning. He even starts feeding them with a special blend of food. He did research on what would be best for the chickens to keep them healthy. So, the chickens adore him. The rooster? Not so much. It tried asserting that the coop was its territory and flew at seungcheol. He just grabbed it in one swoop and now the rooster is really scared. Anyway, of course, the coop is called coup’s coop. 

😇 Jeonghan lets out the most adorable squeal and giggle when you tell him. 

Listen, jeonghan loves anything cute. Pet rocks, dino, fishes, animals, you. He’s so excited when he finds out. He asks you a million and one questions on what life is like working there. What kinds of animals do you have? Are there baby animals? Can he go visit the farm? Actually wait. Can he move there? You can become that animal farm owning couple. 

Jeonghan actually hops and skips out of the car when you arrive. He makes a beeline for the animals. His excitement is so contagious because you both skip around the farm hand in hand as you give him a tour. He looks at you with stars in his eyes when you tell him about each of the animals and what their names are. You’re just so caring and gentle. You even manage to notice the tiniest details like how petunia the pig has a flower shaped mole on her right leg. His days with you on the farm are some of the most relaxing days of his life. He’s surrounded by adorable animals and you! 

Jeonghan’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The brooder! It’s where the baby chicks are. He actually got to witness the chicks hatching and fell in love there and then. He goes to check in on the chicks at every chance he gets. They’ve actually imprinted on him. When the chicks get a little older and they can roam around, they follow him in one straight line. The happiness on his face makes you forgive him for abandoning you when you’re doing chores to go play with the chicks. It’s one of the most adorable sights you’ve ever seen!

🦌 Joshua makes heart eyes at you when you tell him. 

He knows you have an incredibly warm heart, but to know that you work with animals? It does something to him that he can’t explain. You’re like an angel. He listens so attentively when you tell him about your life working on the animal farm. Joshua’s from LA so there is a pretty big difference in your lifestyles. He wants to be able to mould himself to your lifestyle.

He is a gentleman. He carries all the heavy pails and other things that needs to be carried when you go about doing your chores. The feed, water, milk from the cows, barrels of hay. He’s doing it for you. He knows you can do it since you do manage it when he’s not around. But you don’t have to when he’s around. He loves being around you and watching you in your element. The gentleness you exhibit when tending to the animals, the way the animals adore you. He loves that you just walk up to the fence and the fluffy animals are running towards you. He learns about your life and how he can help you by observing you. He sees the animal farm in his future afterall, one he sees with you. 

Joshua’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The bunny enclosure! Joshua adores bunnies. They are so small and cute. They run around, they can act crazy. Best of all bunnies love snuggles. Joshua spends his time feeding the bunnies. He hops around the field with them. He lays on the field surrounded by the pretty flowers cuddling the bunnies. You have to say though, as adorable as that sight is, you’re kind of jealous at how much attention the bunnies are getting. 

🐱 Junhui starts smiling like the Cheshire cat when you tell him.

You live somewhere with animals. In the countryside. Where there are vast open fields. THAT’S PERFECT! HE’S BEEN WANTING TO PERFECT HIS ANIMAL IMPRESSIONS. He shows you his many impressions of the cows, alpacas, horses, cats etc. Definitely would ask you to rate them and give him feedback. 

He’s like an excited child when you arrive. He’s also so inquisitive. Besides doing his animal impressions, much to your amusement, he asks about everything. He wonders what food the animals eat and if it’s tasty. He wonders how you take care of the grumpy bulls and if they will charge at him if he wears red. He has that childlike wonder when he’s exploring your farm. He coos at all the animals because everyone is cute. He finds all the nooks and crannies of your farm that even you didn’t know about. He also falls in love with feeding the animals. He basically takes over your job of feeding them. He even bottle feeds all the babies for you. You do have to pull him away from taking bites out of all the carrots though. 

Junhui’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The pasture where the sheeps graze. He fell in love with the fluffy sheep and the shepherd dog. He starts trying to pick up all the sheep and the shepherd dog like how wile e coyote picks up sheep. He just wants to spin them around. He manages to do it with the smaller, lighter sheep somehow. Why he does it? You never know. It’s junhui, his actions don’t make sense half the time so you let him be. But one day he finds himself being watched by your neighbours. He just stares at them with the o.0 expression before putting the sheep down slowly and running away. 

🐯 Hoshi lets out the loudest scream of excitement when you tell him.

His s/o? Working on an animal farm? You’re the coolest person ever! Can you talk to the animals? Are you an animal whisperer? Are there tigers? You chuckle at his enthusiasm and his pout when you tell him you only have an orange cat that has a few black stripes. He does light up when you tell him that you’ve named the cat Soonie. 

He’s vibrating in excitement when you bring him to the animal farm. He’s a tiger. He can speak to the animals. He goes around introducing himself to all the dogs, cows, cats, horses, fishes, pigs, rabbits etc. They look at him questionably and expectantly. Usually people pet them, feed them, and coo over how cute they are. But this crazy person is just growling at them softly and using his hands like a paw. He tries his best to learn their names and have conversations with them as he follows you around when you do your chores. You could be milking the cows and hoshi would be trying to talk to the cows about how he thinks tigers and cows could be great friends. Like those lions and dogs! It’s funny and really endearing. 

Hoshi’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The alpaca and llama enclosure. To be honest, it’s not his favourite spot but it’s where he is a lot of the time. You see when he was growling at the alpacas, one of them took it as a challenge and spat at him. Hoshi was so offended so now he makes it a point to go back there and scream (softly) at the alpaca who spat at him. Don’t worry at end of the day, they are best friends. Right? That is, until the alpaca spits at him agaim…

🐈‍⬛ Wonwoo smiles at you adoringly when you tell him.

He can see the passion in your eyes as you tell him about the animals on the farm. How you’ve raised them from when they were little, to the losses that you’ve had to endure. The good times and the bad. You embrace all the experiences with an open mind. You learn from the past to make sure that your animals can lead the best lives. 

Okay, he’s not going to lie. He’s a little apprehensive when you bring him to the farm. It’s not that he doesn’t like the countryside or animals. It’s more that he doesn’t know how to help you. This is your territory, your area of expertise. He just feels out of place, that's all. So. You take him by the hand and guide him around the animal farm. You explain all your chores to him and reassure him that he’s there to watch and relax. He doesn’t need to help you. That gets him to loosen up a little. He loves watching you go about your day. He even starts taking photographs of you and the animals throughout the day. His favourite is the one where you smile at him, half covered in mud after tending to the pigs. It just shows your love for your job regardless of how messy it is. 

Wonwoo’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Wherever the cats are! It’s no secret that wonwoo adores cats. You don’t really own the cats? However you do have a little area where strays can come for shelter and food. Wonwoo might not be able to help with other parts of the animal farm, but he finds comfort and solace in taking care of this area for you. He practically adopts all the cats as his own and becomes the cats’ father. The only thing is that you do find your cat area overflowing with strays after some time. Still, wonwoo looks so happy and fulfilled that you can’t bear to make him shoo some of the cats away. You simply expand the cat area after this. 

🍚 Woozi nods along silently taking in your words when you tell him. 

Don’t get him wrong. It’s not that he isn’t supportive or proud of you. He really is. When you tell him you work on an animal farm, it’s more of an “ah okay” moment for him. It’s just a part of who you are and he’s going to accept that. He’s not one to overreact (ahem unlike some people). Of course he is interested, who wouldn’t. Especially since you’re both complete opposites in this respect. His job requires him to be indoors all the time and he hardly sees the sun. But you’re outdoors all the time.

You definitely drag him to see the farm and your animal babies. One, to get him some vitamin D. God knows his skin is as pale as a sheet of white paper. Two, to get him away from the hustle and bustle of his everyday life. Working on an animal farm isn’t easy and you are busy. But to some extent life doesn’t seem so overwhelming or fast paced when you’re surrounded by animals. You get him to enjoy the surroundings, listen to the sounds of nature. You get him to help you out when you’re milking the cows and feeding the baby lambs. You help him to take a step back from his technologically filled life and to enjoy a different way of life. 

Woozi’s favourite part on the animal farm? Surprisingly? The barn. You can often find him sitting under the trees next to the barn watching the horses run free across the field. There’s something liberating and freeing about watching them gallop. Bonus, the barn has great acoustics. He will go there when he finds inspiration to record a short piece of music. He’s practically made a nest for himself in the corner of the barn among the hay and saddles. Yea, you might have to drag him out again before he locks himself in, and the horses out. 

⚔️ DK literally beams when you tell him. 

You swear you were blinded at dokyeom’s smile when you told him you work on an animal farm. He said he could tell you have an affinity for animals the way you always stopped by at the animal shelter near his house to say hi. He’s so enamored by the way you interact with animals and the way they always calm down when you’re near.

Dokyeom practically drags you back to your animal farm. He’s more excited about it than you are. He’s so ready to get suited up to help you. And he does! Specifically, he’s the designated lucky charm of the farm. He visited during the season when several animals were going to give birth. He witnessed the birth of several sheep, two calves, one donkey, and one horse. It blew his mind, and yours. There hadn’t been a time when there were so many births at once, and everything went smoothly? There were no complications at all. So, he gets to name all the new babies. He is the official godfather. He actually hangs around the babies more because he likes watching as they start to walk. It’s cute and funny. You can hear him laughing from across the farm on most days.

Dokyeom’s favourite spot on your animal farm? Anywhere the baby animals are! He is a sunshine baby. The animals adore him and they love his presence. Usually the parents of the baby animals are quite protective, but they will let dokyeom, and only dokyeom near their babies. There’s even a little lamb that keeps following him around. You’ve definitely sang dokyeom had a little lamb to him more than once. 

🐸 Minghao smiles knowingly at you when you tell him.

There’s something about living in the countryside that is so peaceful. When minghao watches you describe your life, surrounded by lovable animals and nature, he understands why you love it. Life in the city is so hectic and you’re surrounded by so many people. It gets overwhelming and it is good that you get to step back from that by physically removing yourself from that environment.

He looks forward to visiting your animal farm. He goes on strolls to take in the scenery. He loves that your day starts and ends early. You can enjoy the morning sunrise and evening sunsets together. While you go about doing your thing with the animals, he’s by your side taking pictures or painting. You are his muse. Seeing you in your element surrounded by nature is inspiring. Of course, he participates in some of the more exciting activities too. If you have to ride on a tractor to tend to the grass patches, he’s right next to you. If you have to ride the atv across the pasture to herd the sheep, he’s clinging onto your back for dear life. Life is about embracing all the new experiences whether it’s restful or life-threatening exciting. He enjoys watching the sheep being herded. He enjoys watching you run after the chickens and gather eggs. He enjoys it so much more since you’re here with him. 

Minghao’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The field in front of where the sheep graze. The light that shines on that area and the scenery behind it against the hills or the vast emptiness of the fields is beautiful. He is entralled by the feeling of tranquility that being there brings him. 

🐶 Mingyu’s smile and eyes get wider with each word you are saying when you tell him. 

This overly excitable puppy of a boyfriend you have adores animals. Despite his large, large frame. He’s just a big ol’ softie inside. Plus, he imagines you all dressed up in overalls, dirt smeared on your cheeks wearing a straw hat. He can’t help it, you said farm. That is the image that is going to be in his head. 

You bring him back to the countryside to see the arm. His eyes are so full of stars when he looks around. He pokes at your arm and grabs onto you tightly as you show him all the animals. He coos at all the smaller animals. But he’s slightly frightened by the larger animals like the bulls, donkeys and alpacas. He insists they are out to get him. Nonetheless, he goes with you when you’re doing your chores. He wears mud boots, and overalls. The only issue is he’s so excited to help you that he is extra clumsy. He runs after you and keeps slipping on the muddy fields. You end up having to abandon your chores to help him clean up. He’s so sulky and whiney that he’s so clumsy. Still, he tried helping and that’s what counts. He made all the mundane tasks of feeding the animals, gathering the eggs, milking the cows more enjoyable.

Mingyu’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The pond! Listen. Large mingyu x tiny things is my roman empire. I imagine that he’s just so fascinated by the ducklings. He waddles after them in a line and it’s so adorable. His affections are definitely returned because you will see him sitting surrounded by the ducklings. 

🍊 Seungkwan has mixed feelings when you tell him.

On one hand, he’s fascinated and so happy at the fact that you work in the countryside because it’s similar to Jeju Island which is where he grew up. You have that in common. Plus, he’s really excited about you being an animal whisperer. Maybe you can tame Hoshi? On the other hand, he’s kind of scared. He is a natural worry wrought and he is worried he won’t be able to adapt to your lifestyle.

You put his worries at ease when you bring him to the animal farm. He finds the routine and the scenery really healing. It’s a break from all the unknown that comes with his life as an idol. He’s incredibly interested in how you administer medication to the animals and how you can tell when one of them isn’t well. Also, he’s not going to lie, he was scared that the animals wouldn’t like him or that they will spit at him, god knows Hoshi has done it before. But he comes to realise that he is really good at handling the animals that do spit - alpacas, llamas. They are somehow just drawn to him and he loves feeding them. They also kind of remind him of seungcheol when they are eating so he can’t help but take a million pictures to send to the seventeen group chat.

Seungkwan’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The fields right at the far end of your farm. It’s a big open area where you sometimes let the animals run around. Most of the time, it is just empty space because it backs up onto someone else’s property. He loves strolling there. Actually, he will 100% suddenly break into song singing the hills are alive with the sound of music. It’s hilarious and it brings him so much joy. 

🐻‍❄️ Vernon’s brows furrow when you tell him.

You don’t have to be worried though. He’s deep in thought about how much fun he’s going to have with all the animals. He wants to ride the horses, play among the sheep, maybe even roll around in the mud with the piglets. You laugh at the serious expression he has on his face, and you promise that he can be one with the animals.

Vernon is actually one of the best people with the animals on your farm. He’s a natural. He learns the ropes quickly during his time there. When he’s around, you don’t need to take on so many things. He soon takes charge of going with the shepherd dog to herd the sheep. And he milks cows really well. He even helps your neighbours when they are really busy. Your whole community has practically adopted him by the end of his time there. You’ve probably joked that he might be better at this than you are. Like, how is he able to get that one annoyingly difficult, fat sheep to stay still enough when it was time to be sheared you will never know. It’s probably Vernon magic. 

Vernon’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Everywhere! He just loves the entire place. The only thing is, he gets easily distracted by all the animals that actually aren’t yours. Obviously, it’s a farm, there are going to be wild animals randomly coming in. Mostly birds, insects. Vernon makes friends with all of them. He’s practically best friends with this one loud bird that loves to squawk early in the morning. 

🦦 Dino decides that this is his chance to show off when you tell him.

Dino is really confident (maybe overly confident?) in his ability to help you when you tell him. He swears that he will be able to help you with all the chores and how much the animals will love him. He says that he’s been living in a zoo for the past 10 years. If he can deal with his 12 members, he can deal with the animals.

He definitely listens so intently when you explain to him what you want him to do on the animal farm. It’s nothing too major. He’s still new at this. So all he has to do is go around, get acquainted with the animals, check on how much water is in their water troughs, and how much food the animals have. Especially those that actually need to be fed some kind of grain or food mix like the birds and bunnies. He takes his task so seriously and returns with no problems. So, you give him some extra responsibilities like taking the grain to the different birds. You have geese, chickens, and ducks. Dino soon realises that these birds do not like him. He swears it is an alternate universe like during the debate night gose when seungcheol said he would become a bird to haunt dino. Because, the geese love to chase him for some reason? Everytime he goes remotely within 10 meters of them, they start honking and flapping their wings aggressively. Maybe he isn’t cut out for this?

Dino’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Your farmhouse. He’s safe from all the geese there. He’s been pecked at, gotten feathers stuck in his hair, and he’s been pooped on several times. You have to reassure him that geese are naturally territorial. He insists the geese are out to get him. Sighing, you just have to leave him wallow in his own self-pity. But on the day you are supposed to leave the countryside to go back to the city with Dino, a goose suddenly appears to attack Dino. Maybe they are really out to get him?

"Dad can we get this for Clem?" Jack held up the soft, colorful, plush butterfly.

Lola had flu and was feeling miserable. The boys had been sent to the store to get medicine and ingredients for soup.

"Do you have enough money?" Jack quickly counted the cash that was in his pocket, shaking his head no once he discovered he was a couple of dollars short.

But he really wanted to get the toy for his little sister. So he made a deal with his father, if he worked really hard in practice and didn't complain when he was told to do his chores, Jim would spot him the loose change.

"Daddy I get one for Bah too?" Luke inspected the stuffies, spotting a green dinosaur that he wanted.

Jack marched right up to Lola who was curled up in a ball on the couch when they got home. There was a bucket and bunch of used tissue lying around but he didn't mind. He tapped her shoulder to wake her.

"Here Clem!" Jack smiled widely handing over the stuffed animal to the little girl. He sat on the opposite side of the couch, watching as Lola gasped and nuzzled it closely to her face. "Do you like it?"

"I luv it Jack jack! Thank you!"

"Bah, I get one for you too." Luke presented her with the dino, but she wasn't as fond of dinosaurs as Luke was. She gave it back to him with the intention that he could keep it. His plan of getting a new toy had worked like a charm.

"What's its name?"

"Hm Buggy?" She petted it lovingly.

"That's perfect!" Jack exclaimed. Lola crawled over to give her older brother a hug. She loved the gift and was going to cherish it forever.

The next day Jack got sick at school, earning him a one way ticket home and more time with his sister. Which he honestly didn't mind.

several years later

Lola held the stuffed animal close and rubbed her face on it. Taking in the scent of Buggy, it smelt familiar like home, and more specifically her room, the space where it rarely left these days. There was something comforting about the old stuffy.

"I love you my Buggy."

Lola sniffled wiping a tear away as she gave the old plushie one last hug and put it by the pillows on her older brother's bed. Her way of giving it back after all these years, because she was done with him.

She grabbed her green backpack and faced the window in her room, ready to climb out of it into the cold air of a Michigan afternoon in January.

Jack was exhausted when he got home after practice. Going up to his room he figured he could take a little nap before dinner. It was after he threw himself on his bed when that he notice the toy.

Confused he made the trip to her room to return it, but she wasn't there. He looked in all of her known hiding spots, but had turned up short.

"Mom have you seen Clem? She left this in my room" Jack walked into the kitchen with Buggy.

"I haven't seen her since she got home from school, but if you find her, tell her we need to leave for the rink in fifteen." Jack nodded turning around to research all the places he had before.

Seventeen’s Love Languages

Acts of Service

Scoups: probably the type to do the dishes every time. If you cook, he’ll do the dishes. If you’re cleaning, he’ll do laundry. The type to also run errands for you if you find that stuff boring/tiring. Y’all’s going to divide-and-rule this chores game.

Jeonghan: maybe the kind to pay for things without really making it obvious. Acts of service doesn’t have a standard definition (like everything else) for this man. And then one day you’d wonder “oh yeah I don’t recall the last time I filled gas in the car”. Same goes for things around the house.

Joshua: the kind to do things you didn’t realise were due, like figure out insurance stuff or change your car batteries or maybe even restock supplies. He’ll pick up on things you might have missed so you don’t have to bother later.

Jun: seems like the type to notice little things that need attention/fixing, like tidying up cables, fixing a creaking cupboard door, and will do all the heavy lifting without ever being asked.

Hoshi: he might work better with instruction; you tell him to do something and he’ll do it every day thereafter. Would like nothing more than watering plants as you talk about your day, or fold laundry when you guys are watching tv.

Wonwoo: I think he’s a “do taxes before they’re due” kinda person, and would do stuff that you might find tedious. Might be tidying around the house as a habit so you don’t even really realise it, but it comes naturally to him.

Woozi: puts you on a phone plan so you never pay phone bills. I’d say same goes for gym memberships, grocery discount cards, online shopping accounts, etc. that you might not have ever bothered with because it was already done before you knew it.

Dokyeom: he may do little things but is consistent. He’d remember doctor’s appointments, recycling days, etc. and do his bit to help. The type to brew you coffee every morning.

Mingyu: literally everything you need done on that day. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, taking out the trash, groceries, honestly that’s the day you do nothing at all and everything’s taken care of.

The8: perhaps the type to remind you to go for health check ups and pick up the right vitamins/ supplements for you. He’ll do things you don’t have the time for, including organising, tidying and will do that when he sends you off on a spa appointment.

Seungkwan: Will likely enrol in a Pilates class with you and make sure your time off from work is spent on yourself. If you have a hobby or play a sport, he’ll always remember little things like buying you new equipment or tools. Probably into organising and labelling stuff.

Vernon: always remembers your takeout order, whether it’s coffee or your favourite pizza joint. Will never skip your weekend routines and make sure everything’s in place for movie night or barbecue Sunday, so you can relax until Monday comes again.

Dino: probably drives you around a lot whenever you need to go somewhere. Always remembers your work timings and calls you when you’re late. Will pick you up on late nights and drive you on groggy mornings.

Kim Mingyu is just another word for "domestic". Like have you seen this man with his huge muscular arms going around cleaning their dorm and cooking for the members. He's going to cook you delicious meals and help you with daily chores. He's always showering you with compilmets and spoiling you with gifts, big or small.

2. Joshua

Hong Joshua will treat you like a queen. Period. He's a very gentle husband, helping you make the tough decisions in your life, supporting and loving you till the very end.

3. Seungcheol

He might not be very big on domestic work. But he's very protective of you and has a very good insight. Life with him as a husband is going to feel safe and comfortable.

4. Dokyeom

He's going to shower you with so much affection and just pure unconditional love. He's going to make you so, so happy. There's never a dull moment with Dokyeom as your husband.

5. Minghao

He's going to make your life so much easier with his wise advices, calm persona and love. He's there for you at all times despite how busy he is- guiding, supporting and loving you through the hard times.

6. Jun

He respects you as an individual and encourages you to make your own decisions and live your life at your own terms. He's empowering and showers you with so much love.

Jeon Wonwoo is the perfect combination of husband + boyfriend material. He's protective of you but also encourages you to make your own decisions. He enjoys your hobbies and cherishes every moment spent with you.

Oh! Jumping off that last ask about dino personalities: what are they, and what traits do they exhibit?

Great question! Here's an answer from our game director;

"Dinos have personalities in a couple of different ways. First of all there a kind of overall personality that each species has. Like all gallimimuses are a bit daft. And then individually, they also have personalities. For example, some dinos are highly social and spend time interacting with other dinos (even if they might not want to share a pen with them). Some dinos are really relaxed. They do their chores later than others and love to spend time sleeping (even during the daytime)!"

Why did he eat so much?

The gathering was good fun. There was a lull in fighting, and the Auto/bots took the time to put together a dinner party to socialize. Swo/op couldn’t resist the urge to grace his presence.

Unlike his other Dino/bot comrades, the flyer didn’t mind mingling even when other mechs didn’t share his enthusiasm. Mind you, they weren’t rude, just relatively short. Sideways glances would be thrown his way as he forced his opinions into the topics of conversation. Some mechs would slowly step away while others humored him momentarily before excusing themselves for odd reasons.

Apparently, Swo/op was kind of avoided due to the ‘ferocity’ his alt mode had.

Usually, the arial dino loved striking fear into his enemies and would take that as a compliment. However, hearing this from his comrades was a buzz-kill. And yes, Griml/ock was quick to say, ‘I told you so,’ as well as the others, claiming this was the perfect example as to why Dino/bots and Auto/bots don’t mix.

Even so, Swo/op felt the urge to attempt to mingle. Tonight wasn’t very successful—sadly, Sky/fire was away on a deep space mission, and the Arial/bots were nowhere to be found. Flyers tended to be more accepting, but none other than Power/glide attended—and Swo/op could only take so much of that mech!

The saving grace was the smorgasbord of food that drowned out the tables. Every type of energy/oned goodies one could imagine seemed to be present! Some of Swo/op's favorites were the mac and cheese loaded with gooey, melted cheese and bacon, French onion soup, cyberfish, and steak, just to name a few.

So, when the conversation wasn’t working, the winged mech simply filled his plate with decadent foods and gobbled them up. Each mouthful brought a smile to his lips. Each swallow made his tummy growl with pleasure. Each plate finished screamed out for another! The dishes ranged from savory to smokey, spicey to tangy, and crunchy to melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious!

Once all the dinner courses were pecked at, the dessert table was visited. The rainbow-colored dishes were so pretty to look at! They were even better to taste—the cherry pies were ever so sweet and contained a hint of an almond flavor. Danishes were freshly baked and very soft, with their icing bursting with acidic citrus filling. The mousse had the best velvety textures, and the chocolates had a rich cocoa flavor!

The food was so good it wasn’t until an angry growl announced just how stuffed he became.

He rubbed his servos over the plump swell, its plating bulging out and feeling extremely taunt. Prim/us, his belly ached as it moaned, desperately working to digest such a massive feast. Sitting back, Swo/op huffed. Breathing became more of a chore. He felt as if he had swallowed a bowling ball! Probably looked like he swallowed one as well.

Overindulging was totally worth it. His taste buds still danced with joy at all the delicious flavors! As his servos pressed at his quivering gut, Swo/op licked his lips, feeling the post-feasting slumber creeping in. Glancing around, no other ‘bot seemed keen on conversing with him. And he was simply too stuffed to bother mingling anymore.

He had his fill. Now, it was time to fly home.

That is if he could get this heavy frame off the ground! The flier frowned. He didn’t think of this aspect, but his cozy nest beckoned, and he gave the party the slip.

Slag, just walking seemed to take up so much energy! His body felt heavy as he dragged himself from the gathering to a clearing. He glanced at the sky—it was clear with only a few clouds littering the way. The freedom of flying was calling to him, and he made his way to transform.

At least attempt to.

His t-cog activated, and gears whined and clicked, but total transformation did not happen. Swo/op tried a few times, but a clunking and grinding sound was heard each time. His belly was simply too big! Furring his optics, Swo/op growled, not believing for one moment he was grounded!

He sucked in his gut- even using his servos to manipulate his flab as he transformed. This was challenging- gears vibrated that shouldn’t have, his frame erratically jerked, and he swore he smelt a faint smoke smell. Finally, changing into his alt-mode was complete, and he stood on the ground in his pterodactyl form. Releasing his breath, he felt his plating creak and bulge: if he had eaten one more plate, he’d probably pop some paneling off!

With transformation out of the way, the next step was take-off, and he knew his graceful ascension into the sky was not going to be pretty. Nonetheless, he waddled to a clearing and spread his wings wide. After giving a final stretch, those wings began flapping. He felt his body slowly rise but did not lift from the ground. Working harder, Swo/op desperately worked his appendages, but it still felt like trying to make a boulder airborne.

It didn’t take long for his wing joints to tire, but a final attempt was made. Crouching down, the flyer madly flapped its wings and leaped into the sky. He was in the air for all two seconds before plummeting back onto the ground.

Sadly, his feet slipped out from under him, and he rolled forward, grimacing as his overstuffed belly took the impact. He then rolled head over feet a few times before coming to a stop. Once dirt was shaken from his face, the bird-former groaned. Longingly, he glared at the sky, but he could not sail amongst the clouds! He was grounded.

With much difficulty, he returned to his root mode- there was slightly more room for his widened frame. He sat on the ground, rubbing a servo over his grumbling belly. Saddened that he could not take to the skies, he did not regret the feast.

He was, however, happy his fellow Dino/bots did not join him, for their ridicule over his predicament would have been unbearable. A smile appeared on his lips as he bathed in the sun’s warmth, rubbing his servos over his swollen belly and reminiscing of all the tasty dishes he had consumed.

Swo/op truly did enjoy the party.

Modern Rock Lee Headcanons pt. 2

It's never a boring car ride with him

He definitely sings along with the music that's playing and he would probably make a little microphone with his fist and you two could have a duet

I feel like he would be one of those people that say that he listens to everything and actually does

It's great

He also has a playlist for when you're in the car so it has music that he knows you like too

But he wouldn't have his music blasting or anything, like it'd be loud enough for a mini concert on the way to the grocery store but not loud enough for the people in the next car to hear

Definitely listens to TOTO regularly

Lots of 70-90s music, not that he doesn't listen to anything else but that's what's mainly on his playlist

He loves sweaters. LOVES THEM.

God forbid you get matching sweaters for any occasion

Honey's gonna be glued to you until you take them off for bed

If you ever by chance have explosive diarrhea or a stomach bug, know that you won't be bored or alone on your phone in the bathroom

He's getting you meds and either sitting in the tub or on the bathroom floor trying to talk/make you laugh and distract you while spraying some febreze every once in a while

He's a huge Spiderman fan and when you guys went to go see the second spider-verse movie there was a week of him just jumping around your house/apartment

He started doing some weird Spiderman workout that he saw on whatever social media he has afterwards too

You two probably watch certain shows together, whether it be a baking show or whatever but his guilty pleasure is Power Rangers

He knows the Power Ranger Dino Charge theme song by heart and he'll sing it softly so you don't hear it but you end up giggling at his singing and ironing his shirt

He gets flustered easily by it (your "giggle")

He aggressively does chores

You never really have to worry about upsetting him if you want to leave an event early cause he always has an excuse and always wants an excuse to be with you

If you had a bad day and you want to be alone he'll make you the most outrageous meal and stand outside your door or put it on the counter for when you're ready for it

On the other hand, if you had a bad day and you want a lot of affection he's the guy to go to

Bro will put on your favorite show/movie and get the good blanket

He's constantly talking about you at work, everyone already knows who you are the first time you visit

He crushes on some the celebrities and characters that you crush on so you can talk about them together

Some of them he questions but whatever floats your boat

Now, Lee's not someone for confrontation if he doesn't have to but he's said his fair share of words to disrespectful people for you

But he's not trying to be mean about it, he's just wants to educate folks even if it doesn't come out that way

Back to the Spiderman thing- he's absolutely done the Spiderman kiss with you with his gym's rope
