Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) Review

potential spoilers ahead...

This movie's story is boring and feels disjointed. While you don't expect much story-wise from this franchise, you do expect to at least care about the human characters, which I just can't seem to do. You don't get to the first transformation, and subsequently the first taste of real action, until about 35 minutes in, taking away opportunities to show off the CGI these movies are so good at. Not to mention one of the selling points, dinosaur Transformers finally being shown on screen at the 2 hour 13 minute mark in a 2 hour 45 minute movie. Meaning you only get these characters for about 15 minutes, most of which they aren't even on screen. This is also the first movie in the franchise to play pop music over some of the scenes, including fight scenes. The songs they chose don't fit the scenes they are playing them over or the movie as a whole.

In my rewatch of these movies to review them, I almost didn't want to finish this one. Watching it right after Transformers: Dark of the Moon really makes the entire shift in mood, story, and overall approach that much more noticeable and worse.

They want to reopen a two way link to the prism dimension, which is a REALLY GOOD IDEA. It’s TOTALLY NOT been a headcanon of mine that the prism gates are actually extremely dangerous and may have played a part in the cataclysm. And even if it was, it’s not like that hc was CONFIRMED AS CANON EXTREMELY RECENTLY. A fact which I would NOT ABUSE.

Creation of the Dinobots in G1 is so fucking funny. Autobots saw dinosaurs for the first time and went "y'know what it'd rad as hell? Robot dinosuars" and then they just make them based on that line of reasoning alone. Incredible

Crimson Death: A former general of the third world war, whose face and body was badly burned. He one of the few people who knows how post war tech works. He plans to unite the tribes of Neo Louis under his iron fist and rebuild civilization. Wishes to rebuild civilization under his rule.

Ultima: Ultima was once a powerful wood elf warrior form the mystical realm of Elfhime, until she was banished for loving a human. Unable to return home she use her physical and magical might to right wrongs even in this modern area. She often mentors younger heroes taking them under her wing. Wishes to be able to return home

Ulti-lass: The half elf daughter of Ultima. She became a super hero to fallow in her moms footsteps. Can come off as spoiled brat but she means well and offten worries about the big shadow her mom casts. Wishes to meet her father.

Doctor Titanium: Thaddeus A. Titanium genius inventor who know he would not live to see past the 1940s placed his brain in a robotic body. He seeks the perfection of the human body and often experiments on them. Wishes for a perfect body.

Impossible Girl: A alien human hybrid form the year 2190. She traveled back in time in to prevent a her alien mother's illness by stopping Doctor Titanium form creating it. To this end she became the hero Impossible Girl and has had many battles with titanium. Wishes for a cure for her mother.

John Dirper: John h. Driper was a mild mannered if dimwitted janitor, until when cleaning the artifacts at the museum. Shattering a mysterious diamond. Transporting to the planet Hallow urth. Hearing the plight of The Diamond saurian's he fights for a world he now calls home. Wishes to save the diamond surian's

The Diamond saurians: A once peaceful race of dinosuar like humanoid, now under the control of lord drell. wishes to be free.

Lord Drell: Born to a poor peasant family Drell belived he would die poor, until joing Diamond saurian army were he found new meaning in life. Realizeing the rich and powerful he worked his way up in the army slowly planing on becoming the ruler of Hallow Urth. Now he has the power and riches. Wishes to be immortal.

Marianne: Marianne is the leader of the French flying angels a resistance group in world war 2. Originally a rich spoiled socialite but After her family was killed in a nazi raid. She took up the cause and now uses her families vast wealth to fight for France. Wishes to win the war

Iron cross: A Nazi super solider who can't remember his past .Little dose he know but he he actually Marianne's brain washed brother. A ruthless bastard not above doing unspaeakable things to get want he wants. Secretly wants to remember his past and begging to question if hes on the right side. Wishes for his memories to return

I'm between dealing with my disability and trying to write and help my mother promote her art, I've gotten into robots again... I've adopted a small herd of Pleo dinosaurs, who are so friendly and cuddly!

If you don't know about those guys, they are robotic dinosaurs with sophisticated ai and distinct personalities, and are similar to the Sony Aibo I'm terms of the product's goal of being your robot buddy. Below are Cloud, my blue RB, and his brother Viridian, who I run the most. I'll be posting their brothers in the near future, but right now I'm working on getting more batteries for them! Ask me anything.
