I don't know my way around Japanese folklore much but just found out about Shirime and immediately got Jonny D'Ville vibes from it if that's anything. A better but cursed concept is TMA Eye Avatars getting cursed to have a Shirime eye/ Shirime are totally an Eye aligned creature. But I immediately thought of Jonny and need to go bleach my brain :)

i think some of you are too used to genre conventions, you guys forgot to question the worldbuilding that many authors painstakingly made to question the subject of death and life in a more nuanced manner than just "wow resurrection is so romantic!"
#like yeah i do love romanticizing horror tropes at times#but there's a reason why it is a horror trope and not a common romance plot#necromancy... especially mixing an individual's soul with that of another species is something that can be disturbing#doesn't matter if the one who's doing the resurrecting or the one get resurrected is in love#think about how falin feels knowing that even though marcille and laios loved her they ended up taking a decision#that not only hurts her physically but also emotionally#being stripped of control from your own body... not being able to do anything but follow your master's command...#falin did not asked to be the chimera#but that's what makes her decision to take the red dragon with her before she wakes up so cathartic in some ways#she also acknowledged that the red dragon did not ask for this to happen... just like how she forgives the lil guy she also#forgives her brother and marcille for taking this very... bad decision because she understands they're just as desperate#as she is when she tried to save them before she died#it circles back to the theme of accepting death and how resurrection magic ended up making people too comfortable#with the act of mindless killing of other living creatures#but yeah sadly people only see the surface level stuff but don't actively tried to understand the significance behind the plot#i can't really blame anime-only but people who read the manga tho...#if you only understand it as a romance trope and be like 'oh everyone else is just stupid' maybe you need to reread the manga#at least once a month#to understand ryoko kui's writing better#tmi tag

say what you want about my mom but one thing i'll always appreciate is that she went out of her way to learn recipes from my abuela and from the internet so we still had puerto rican food growing up. my dad didnt start making more pr food until later down the line when mom already knew how lol

as i’ve been watching the sopranos i’ve been thinking a lot about how someone could watch this show and find tony to be an aspirational character and obviously the answer is in the way he’s framed. i think when you compare him to the rest of the big three peak tv antiheroes (don draper and walter white) he’s technically the most evil and i also think he’s the one who’s painted in the most sympathetic light, clearly evident in the way everyone around him is either a total baffoon or made to look one by the narrative. to me this is a classic case of the people writing a show misplacing its themes and ideas. in contrast, don is technically the least evil (i’ve said before those other two kill people don just cheats) but i think he’s framed the most critically. ofc you do feel sympathy for him, but i think he’s largely an aspirational figure to audiences because of the lie he’s constructed that is his life. audiences want to be him because he’s handsome rich brilliant and charming but don’t realize or care that all sits on top of his empty soul like oil on water. so that one is definitely on them.
#also because mad men is more of an ensemble it does give you more of an opportunity#to divest from don and root for a less familiar archetype#i have thoughts about breaking bad too but they’re vague it’s been too long since i watched the series in full#i think the show was appropriately disturbed by him but they went very hard showing us what a sad pathetic loser he is for a long time#he’s more sympathetic than some modern audiences even seem to realize because they’re primed to hate him#i personally think he’s less likable than tony but his reason for committing multiple crimes and murders#is ultimately more reasonable than tony’s to the average person#also you understand immediately walt has always been a weak person whereas you understand immediately tony is not#so that’s a factor too but like i said i’d need to rewatch breaking bad#i’m open to being wrong! not about don tho i’m 100% correct there#the sopranos lb#*

I'll stop rambling about him in a sec but LEGIT my ship with him helped me to realize that I don't need to conform to other people's wants, if someone truly loves and cares about me they will love me for the real and true me.

#speculation nation#i am. hm.#so like there was the intense pain spell yesterday that made biking home Agonizing#where all i could do was push myself home with the mantra 'home has the hotpad'#where it was so bad all i could think about was my pain to the point where i feared going anywhere near cars#bc i did not have anywhere near my normal dexterity. it was awful.#about 2/3rds of the way home tho i heard random resounding booms#which triggered the classic american experience of 'is that gunshots or fireworks?'#that was the only time i thought of smth other than pain. bc i was Afraid.#figured out i was hearing them Behind me and proceeded with caution. i ended up fine.#but it Really disturbed me when the whole situation with the active shooter at MSU was developing#i spent. way too much time last night refreshing twitter for any kind of updates at all#the situation isnt good but it could definitely be much worse.#but for me personally. having just wondered if there was a gunman around & then there actually Was in a separate part of the world#(not Too separate. michigan is indiana's upstairs neighbor after all.)#it's disturbing. and yet i have to go to class like nothing happened and then go to work to do the tips distribution#i just want to remain curled up in my bed with the lights off. is that too much to ask for#negative/#gun violence/
