Mirabel's gift is she can grant wishes! Like as soon as she touched her doorknob, it transformed into a genie lamp with Mirabel dressed as a genie.

Uhhhh. I think that when she's younger, she grants 1 wish, per person, per day. But the older she gets, the more wishes she can grant. By 10, she can grant up to 2, and by 15, 3 wishes per person, per day. She's not completely bound by the lamp though, she can use her magic to some extent outside of wishes. And I think while Mirabel is usually outside of her lamp to get wishes, Alma or some other family member might occasionally carry it around. She can be summoned if someone rubs the lamp, it gets annoying sometimes though, so she tries to leave it at Casita.

She might only be able to max out other people at 3 people, but for her family, she lets them have however many because she loves them <33 Also her magic I feel is limited by the usual things. No bringing back anyone from the dead, no killing, no making anyone fall in love, and no changing the past/messing with time in general. Mirabel also probably can refuse wishes.

I don't think she's magically bound to the lamp like other genies. It's only a gift, and if the candle ever went out, she's lost her genie magic lol. She might not have control over the outside of her lamp's appearance (Alma insists she keeps it looking "neat", her room inside is very??? I don't wanna say chaotic, but a lot is going on. As for where it is⁉️??? Maybe there’s like a carved out hole in the wall where her door should be, and it sort of sits on a pedestal or stand of some kind, and maybe her name is carved right above the hole. Probably glows too.

Since she has no door, technically, her lamp can travel with her, and so can her room. She can enter it and leave it freely, but others can't. For others to enter, the lamp first has to be in Casita, and then others can enter it. How idk.

I've had a Korrasami genie AU for a while now and I wanted to create the scene where they first meet Mako, Bolin, and Pabu. The story I had in mind for it was a combination of Aladdin and The Legend of Korra storylines told mainly from the perspectives of Korra and Asami. I have most of it written haven't figured out how to finish it. I'll probably share what I have during Korrasami week.

The Legend of Korra belongs to Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios.

Bartimaeus Sequence AU where in Golem's Eye Nathaniel is like "No there is no way I am summoning Bartimaeus again I am not stupid enough to summon a djinni who knows my birth name" but he's desperate to find a competent spirit and then he remembers that Bartimaeus recommended Faquarl's name, and he takes him up on that.

Bonus points if he does summon Bartimaeus but just to confirm that Faquarl was in fact the guy who broke him out of the Tower of London and otherwise fact-check his resume, leaving Bartimaeus torn between not wanting to praise Faquarl or acknowledge his achievements and wanting to get him stuck working with an annoying little twerp.

Double Bonus Points if Faquarl recognizes Nathaniel from the kitchen at Heddleham Hall and figures out what happened, and on one hand thinks the kid will be easier to manipulate than Makepeace, but on the other hand he is not letting Bartimaeus get away with this so he keeps being like: "Oh, well, this sort of thing isn't my area of expertise, but my old associate and worthy adversary Bartimaeus would be perfect for this job." Leading to Nathaniel summoning both of them and the rest of Golem's Eye being a complete disaster of a "buddy" comedy where they bicker the entire time and piss Nathaniel off but he refuses to dismiss either of them because he knows damn well if either one of them wins the "annoy master until he dismisses you first and gets the other one stuck in your service" competition the the other will become even worse.

Goodreads has recommended "36 Cozy and Feel-Good Fantasy and Sci-Fi Books" in my inbox and like, setting aside my complicated feelings about "Cozy and Feel-Good" as an abstracted genre and my general distaste for the endless warm-blanketification of what literature should be, it lists both Sisters of the Vast Black and Piranesi, both of which I have read and both of which are fantastic and memorable precisely because they are incisive and unsettling.

I keep tossing around this idea in my head for an AU where instead of getting killed Ptolemy gets sealed away or sent to the future somehow and ends up as Mr. Button's apprentice sometime between GE and PG

I haven't worked out all the details but roughly what I'm imagining is this:

Ptolemy's cousin is paranoid that he might have found a way to cheat death, so instead of having Ptolemy killed, he orders the Roman magicians to seal him away

Due to Ptolemy's trip to the Other Place, this actually works

2128-2129 years pass

Kitty has started learning magic from Mr. Button and is trying to find more information on Bart's masters

Mr. Button buys a bottle or similar item that is believed to have a spirit trapped inside with the intent of asking the spirit some questions

Surprise! It's not a spirit at all, it's Ptolemy!

Kitty immediately sees the resemblance to Bartimaeus's favorite form and knows that if she can get Ptolemy on her side then Bartimaeus will be that much more willing to help her succeed at getting commoners and spirits to work together

(Of course there is a language barrier between Kitty and Ptolemy, and this isn't exactly something she can ask for Mr. Button's help with, so that part may take a while, but she's determined to make it work)

Not sure where the main plot would go from there, but I kinda want a version of the succubus scene where everything starts out pretty much the same except Ptolemy is also there, but when the succubus shows her true form the expression on Ptolemy's face morphs from polite interest to unfettered glee. He starts peppering her with a million questions that just came to his mind about the connections between a djinni's true form and their powers, why djinn almost never show their true forms on planes visible to magicians, etc.

This throws the succubus off long enough for Kitty to recover and give her her orders, by which point the succubus has decided that maybe this particular summoning won't be too awful and she's better off not being suicidally reckless this time.

Idk for some reason I just want Ptolemy to befriend the succubus (it would be completely platonic, just to be clear. Sooner or later Ptolemy would start summoning her without the magical safeguards like he did with Bartimaeus and his other djinn, which Mr. Button would not be pleased about when he finds out, and she'd just start hanging out in the house sometimes)

Some more EAH and MH stuff I made!

Pic 1: Apple Bite, my take on the leaked prototype dress that @luc-elementix posted a while ago. This would have been Apple dressed as/transformed into a vampire and would have happened in The Lost Movie or been movie exclusive dolls.

Pic 2: the Scarily Ever After doll line with Draculaura as Snow Bite, Frankie Stein as Threadarella, and Clawdeen as Little Dead Riding Wolf. (I know Frankie’s doesn’t really match the art, but I tried by best.)

Pic 3: Scarily Ever After Cleo and Abbey. They only appeared as background characters in Draculaura and Frankie’s stories, but I wanted to include them anyway. Cleo is the Evil Princess (/Queen) in Snow Bite and Abbey is the Fairy Ghoulmother (Scary Godmother in my head) from Threadarella. (In other stories, I think Cleo could be Sleeping Beauty and Abbey could be the Snow Queen.)

Pic 4: Destiny swapped Apple Queen and Raven White. Honestly, I just swapped their color palettes 😅 Nothing nuance here except maybe for Apple’s purple highlights. I kind of like this AU/theory. I know some people don’t and Apple could have just inherited her hair color from her dad (he’s stated as having blonde hair in the books), but it’s just such a cool theory to me.

Pic 7: Howleen Wolf fashion evolution (G1 and G3). I really like her second look. I know some people don’t but Howleen’s whole thing is that she’s trying to find herself. She feels like she has something to prove since her older siblings have all done great things. Fashion is great way to do that. She’s expressing herself through her fashion. (I couldn’t get the hair poof that she has in her first and newest look so I went with the braided/cornrow look (I don’t know what hairstyle this is. My knowledge of African hairstyles is abysmal.)

Pic 8: Casta Fierce, Catty Noir, and Ari Hauntington. Honestly, these were my favorite to make. I love that MH made some pop stars. I still listen to Witching Hour and Catty’s songs are so good. I also really like her and Pharaoh. They are so cute and would definitely be THE monster pop star power couple (in my opinion). Ari also has a really interesting storyline. She’s a pop star in both the human and monster worlds.

I'm just hurting myself.

I also recently came up with an idea for an AU in which Nathaniel survives but never dares to summon Bartimaeus again because of a pang of guilt.

It's only then that he realizes how much he hadn't imagined his life without Bartimaeus in at least some part of it. Yes, there were moments, a year, two years, a month, when they were cut off from each other because it was a rule, because it was necessary, but the notion that he could see the djinni in front of him at any second by simply saying the right words hung in the air and (before he could never admit it) was reassuring to realize this. Now he is looking at the level of the pentacle line, just looking, not even summoning anyone, and he realizes that he simply cannot, that he will not, that he will not allow himself to see Bartimaeus even once.

Although the possibility seems to be so close, literally at arm's length, his throat tightens with a spasm, so that he is unable to make a sound, and his heart seems to be getting heavier, pounding madly somewhere far inside his body. Thousands of unwanted images float before his eyes — a half-dead frog sprawled across the floor, a pyramid of slime, a barely noticeable stream of smoke...All that Nathaniel had seen, all that he had known when he and Bartimeus were one, all that pain, disgust, contempt, unrealized hope - he closes his eyes at this thought every time - hate.

And he realizes that he will never be John Mandrake again. He will never be that selfish again. His ideas and feelings don't matter in this situation, it's better to leave everything as it should be. Or have should been.

Only then does he leave the circle.

He leaves, thinking that he will never come back here again, not in this state, but every damn time he finds himself here, on the cold floor, looking at the painted runes, clutching his hands.

And Kitty asks him every time if he is okay, absolutely honestly and sincerely worried about her friend, and he realizes that he has to lie to her again, because he will never be "okay" again. Because he feels that a piece of his being, maybe even his heart, has been taken away from him, and that Bartimeus was that piece.

But only for him.

Because to even consider him a part of himself, something connected to him even for a drop is already stupidity and the very selfishness that he so shuns inside himself.

Because Bartimaeus exists and will continue to exist independently of him, as a personality, as something alive and special.

This is exactly how it should have been and how it was not.

But Kitty doesn't need to know this.

So he squeezes out a slight smile and says, "Yes, everything is fine," that he is slowly but surely getting better.

And then he thinks that maybe he should have shared this when he opens the door of the empty, nighttime office with almost trembling hands.

Why has the wound from the blow never hurt like this?

At that moment, he mentally promises both her and himself that one day he will tell her absolutely everything.

He does this over and over again, as if in a cursed circle, betraying his promises.

Have you thought of anything regarding other characters in the secret library au? Like the crown keepers + milo and anni and if they’re human or not?

Well, Milo has been in the AU since the inception of it as part of Ashton's story. But for some more details on them...

Milo is still human in this AU. They do most tinkering with modern tech, but they're also known to study artifacts to try and figure out what makes those tick as well.

Anni Aughta would be Milo's totally vanilla roommate (they don't live in the Library, though it's not unheard of for them to spend the night there). She's not part of the Secret Library and doesn't know about the supernatural stuff. She has met Ashton multiple times, though, while he was using a glamor/illusion to look human as a Friend From Work of Milo's. Anni is also aware that recently there's some AI robot project at Milo's work that is, for some fucking reason, named Fresh Cut Grass. The damn thing is disgustingly perky/happy from what she overheard on the phone.

The Crown Keepers would be the Emon branch Field Team.

Opal is human and she left podunk Byroden for the big city of Emon to try and make something of herself. Except shortly after she left, her twin sister Ted disappeared. Sort of. See, Opal can hear her sister's voice in her head, and sometimes her reflection or shadow will become Ted's and move independently from Opal. Opal stumbles into the Secret Library looking for answers to help Ted. Things get more problematic for Opal when puts on a super cursed circlet (y'all know the one😉), granting her spider-y magic powers.

Dariax got sort of accidentally recruited to the Library after stumbling into a few too many situations to be believed to be coincidence. He's 5'3" and human. Also oddly capable with a few magical artifacts.

Dorian is not human. He's descended from a proud and ancient line of djinni that are honor bound to assist the Secret Library since shortly after its founding. Dorian's honoring that about as far from the rest of his family as he can get (most of the Wyvernwinds work in the extra hidden Silken Squall branch). He got along very well with Orym (and Fearne) while he was at the Emon branch, but couldn't quite bring himself to follow Orym to Jrusar, and thus closer to the rest of the Wyvernwinds. But Orym and Dorian do keep in touch, letting each other know how things are going at their branches.

This is a commission I just finished for @ironbar36. He wanted Deathstroke from My Adventures with Superman as a Djinn. I've only seen clips of the show but the Clark/Superman and Lois dynamics is very wholesome.

On a side note, though I no longer do requests or art trades, I am open to commissions if I have the time and am comfortable with the subject matter. So yeah….as a quick reminder, my particular AU version of Mandy Anders (who I also gave her the superhero name of “Wildfire”), is essentially the same character from the original “I Am Not Starfire” graphic novel but she’s a lot more complex than the original version of her where instead of just being the complete polar opposite of her mom with seemingly no superpowers to speak of at first, she actually gets her powers much earlier in her life but unfortunately those same alien powers from her mother’s side of the family pretty much only help alienate her further (no pun intended) from her human friends and classmates since Mandy’s alien hybrid physiology generally makes her bigger, taller, stronger & much more physically imposing then your average high schooler or even most human adults (along with having genetic atavism from her mom’s side of the family that actually makes her look more big cat-like in appearance).

Not to mention the fact that she feels that she always has to compete with her older, prettier & much more popular half sister, Mar’i Grayson (a.k.a. the newest Gotham City superhero “Nightstar”) as she pretty much views herself as the angsty, moody & troublemaking “unfavorite” of the family). But at least Mandy has an actual Heavy Metal Band called “The Outlaws” alongside her only few friends to have her back when things get rough with Crush (Lobo’s Daughter) on bass & Cheshire Cat (Red Arrow’s Daughter) on drums respectively.

Plus I was just thinking about having this particular AU version of Mandy grow up to become a badass Spacefaring Bounty Hunting Antihero alongside her friends Crush & Cheshire Cat as she would also still pretty close to her family & friends back home on Earth as she occasionally helps out both The Teen Titans & Justice League with various missions while also trying desperately to find love on the side!!

To answer your second question first, no. Why are the black women in these movies always either bullied or the bullies? Why did they make a new Hook when Harriet is right there? When are they making new characters in general when there are so many right there? I'm just not that interested. I might watch it if it gets decent reviews from my mutuals, but it currently isn't something I'm interested in.

Ally has trauma from being forced to watch Alastor offer himself in her place to some of the Queen of Hearts' men. She's internalized that it was her fault and, as Alastor is always traveling, he's never been able to convince her that it wasn't.

Ambrose Nolan watched Ghost panic and try to kill Blossom. While Ghost didn't get far before Snow managed to comfort him, it was still horrifying.

Arturius still has nightmares from when Beast tried to take Amoracchius. It might not seem that bad, but he's one of the few who knows what that sword is capable of and the thought of what it could do in the wrong hands... he has PTSD from that.

Jordan almost died her first year at Auradon Prep. Djinni can't be separate from their lamps for too long, it makes them sick as their magic freaks out, but she was forced to leave her lamp in Agrabah. She has C-PTSD from that and usually can't even bear to leave her lamp in her room.

On one hand, I don’t need to write any more AUs, but on the other hand… Mianite Cursed Pirate Crew AU. The basic concept of this AU is based on a TTRPG called Rapscallions which I haven’t played but I love the concept of.

Basic setup is just that the cast are all members of a pirate crew and each one is cursed in some way.

The Crew: Capsize, Tom, Jordan, Redbeard, and Sonja

Capsize is the captain of the crew, though she’s rarely seen off her ship making her co-captain more known to the general public. Once during a particularly bad attack, she called out to the sea goddess to save everyone’s lives. Her calls worked, Capsize became one with the sea, being able to turn the ocean itself against their enemies. However this connection came with a price, her being forbidden from stepping foot on land. Notably she will always insist that she is forbidden, not unable, to step foot on land. She has never said exactly what’ll happen if she goes against this rule, just that the goddess wants to keep her close and she isn’t going to go against a goddess.

Tom is Capsize’s co-captain, a position which everyone else on the ship is definitely very happy about. He got himself cursed when dealing the final blow to a leviathan, an encounter that technically killed him. In his dying moments he swallowed leviathan blood, which revived him with a couple of consequences. Notably, he looks slightly off with no light in his eyes and an odd green tint to his skin. However, he also gained powers, though he’s still figuring out exactly how to use them, with one of the few he’s sure of is his new found ability to communicate with the giant sea beasts that once caused his death. 

Jordan would very much insist that he isn’t cursed, seeing that his actual abilities aren’t the things giving him trouble. However the others note that being touched by the gods in a way that gives him no special powers, but has inspired multiple groups to try and track him to to fulfil his apparent “terrible destiny” counts as a curse as they’re fighting to stop him from getting kidnapped or captured seemingly every other week. Despite his insistence that he isn’t cursed, he always gets quiet when asked when his apparent destiny is, not wanting to reveal what he is apparently destined for, especially not when he’s finally figured out who “the rival” and “the love interest” described in the terrible tale are supposed to be.

Redbeard, much like Tom, got cursed during a fight, but not one that killed him. During a raid on a cargo ship, a strange creature was unleashed on them, managing to claw and bite him before they took it down. This very quickly proved to have consequences as the body of the creature is identified as a lycanthrope and they realise what Redbeard being bitten by it means. They manage full moons as best as they can, making use of the brig and any magical locks they can get ahold of. They haven’t had any incidents thus far, but Redbeard still fears what will happen if he ever gets loose.

Sonja was the only to get cursed before joining the crew and she is the newest member of said crew. She was a researcher of many different kinds of magic and legends, though she tried to keep her activities on the down low due to attitudes of the town guard towards magically powerful people. However, one night while lost in her studies, she discovered  a creature claiming to be a djinni locked within one of the books she was studying. Not quite understanding what she was dealing with, she made a wish releasing the creature and binding herself to her journal. Now she has powers, the ability to gain knowledge just from writing questions in her journal as well as the odd power to bend luck, but she also cannot roam far from her journal and if anyone but her gets ahold of it, she has no choice but to do as they say.

She found the crew after writing in her question asking for somewhere safe to flee, knowing that if anyone in the town caught wind of what had happened she’d never have freedom again. They took her in without question (they can’t exactly turn down more hands on deck), though her sudden departure was noticed by a friend, who isn’t sure what to make of the news that she apparently was taken by a pirate crew.
