Female amd Male -1 Female-Male relationship seen in "Musume Dōjōji"
Kiyohime(清姫), a serpent who chases Anchin(安珍)
(From Encyclopedia Alpha)
Do you know the legend of Anchin Kiyohime ? This is a story about the origin of Dojoji Temple(道成寺) in Wakayama Prefecture. The synopsis is quoted from wikipedia.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Anchin and Kiyohime :beginning of love
The time is around the summer of the 6th year of extension (928), the reign of Emperor Daigo. There was a monk who came to visit Kumano from Oshu Shirakawa. This monk (Anchin) was a very beautiful figure. Kiyohime, the daughter of Kiyohime Shoji of Masago, Muro-gun, Kii Province, fell in love at first sight when she saw Anchin who rented her inn, and she crawls on his man at night. As a person who is worshiping, Anjchin is in trouble even if he is pressed like that, and he tricked her into stopping by on his way home, so he went quickly without stopping after worshiping.
Kiyohime's wrath
Kiyohime gets angry when she learns that she has been deceived, and she chases her barefoot and catches up on the way to Dojoji Temple (Ueno no Sato). Instead of rejoicing at her reunion, Anchin lay a lie on a lie that he was a different person, and even asked for help from Kumano Gongen and tried to escape when Kiyohime was tied sleeping paralysis . At this point, Kiyohime's anger strikes the heavens, and she finally turns into a snake and pursues her Anchin.
The end of Anchin
The one who follows Anchin who crossed the Hidakagawa River and escaped to Dojoji is the figure of a snake crossing the river on its own while blowing fire. It didn't make sense for her to ask the ferryman to "Don't let her cross the river." Achjin who has the big bell lowered and runs away into it. However, Kiyohime does not forgive and wraps around the bell. Causal retribution, pitiful Anchin was burned to death in the bell. After killing Anchjin, Kiyohime enters the water in the form of a snake and died.
Buddhahood
After reincarnating in the serpentine, they appear under the priest of Dojoji and ask for a memorial service. Due to the merit of the Hokkekyo(法華経) advocated by the priest, the two became Buddhahood and appeared in the dreams of the priest in the form of a heavenly man. In fact, these two were the incarnations of Kumano Gongen and Kanzeon Bosatsu, respectively, and ended in praise of the Hokkekyo.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Anchin who escapes to the bell, Kiyohime who winds the bell around.
It seems that their appearance can be imagined in a general gender relationship.
Kiyohime, who wraps around the bell with a snake body, is the "female genitals" itself. And does she mean, She burns out his male genitals. In fact, female genitals are sometimes referred to as "fireplace: hot". The man counters this fire by giving out "water" (ejaculation). Fire and water cancel each other out and SEX is completed. In this case, the woman's "love juice" is not water, but fire. It is "fire" because it burns out. This view can be seen in China's "Ying Yang Five Elements Theory".
Depending on the text, when Kiyohime crawls at night, Anchin responds by vowing to become a married couple overnight. It seems that there was a rich night life. In this case, Anchin is mostly bad.
Pine and Wisteria sonnet-like poetry
Pine tree: Hey, Ms. Wisteria,
You are entwined me,
How long will it be?
Wisteria: That was Mr. Pine, 10 years ago.
I wrapped around you.
Pine: That's right, anyway
After being entangled with you
I have no choice but to want water.
Wisteria: That's because you, we are still having sex.
Pine: You mean we are having sex ...
Wisteria: Mr. Pine, that's because I'm tightly wrapped around your skin
Is that part dented?
This is a testament to our love.
A word of the day: The kanji "必::must" is a hieroglyph and means to tighten a stick, and the word secret (秘/密) is similar and has a sexy meaning. I think you who read this blog will understand why.

*screaming*
I HAVE AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
AFTER NINE MONTHS OF THIS MAP VEXING ME:
I HAVE FIGURED OUT WHAT LOCATION IGURO REPRESENTS
It's Myomanji Temple, new home to the temple bell that trapped the jilted-woman-turned-snake-demon in a legend from Dojoji Temple in Wakayama, and which happened to be the Kabuki play Iguro represented in the official Kimetsu-Kabuki collab. To clarify, the above images are from the second official Kyoto City/Kimetsu collab which took place shortly after the Kabuki event. Seems Myomanji is also a hot spot for poet society. That's sweet, since poetry is one of Iguro's official hobbies.
I knew my studies were leading up to something. *fist pump* EDIT: This post doesn't feel complete until I list the others on the map (or at least my interpretations of it):
Nezuko: Kawadoko restaurants in Kibune, built over the riverside Tanjiro: Kifune Shrine, home to the water god Urokodaki: Kurama Temple, home to the legend of Ushiwakamaru (later known as Minamoto no Yoshitsune) training under Kurama Tengu, and a modern-day giant Tengu mask statue Rengoku: Mt. Hidari-Daimonji/Ookitayama, lit up with big fires every year for O-bon Haganezuka: Shimogamo Shrine, the birthplace of mitarashi dango Kanao: Based on location, I'm guessing Kyoto University (original guess was Doshisha University, but Shinobu was being studious too so maybe that's where she is, not on this map) Giyuu: The Lake Biwa Canal, located in a popular maple leaf viewing area, we might as well say he's taken the whole Philosopher's Path that day Uzui: Minamiza, the Kabuki theater Muichiro: Based on location and five stories, probably Daigoji Temple, home to the oldest pagoda in the city (but my first guess was Toji Temple, the tallest pagoda). Zenitsu: Fushimi Inari, the obvious, for its foxes and torii gates Mitsuri: The map isn't exactly to scale, but since she's eating sakura-mochi, I feel she should be further west toward the better known sakura-mochi shops Shinazugawa: Kinda in between two famous ohagi shops that are known to run out of stock early Inosuke: Like, I don't know, the fish has me uncertain. Given the bricks, I'm guessing Takase-gawa, the small man-made river for cargo transport that runs alongside the more famous Kamo River. He's not on the map, but Himejima is playing the Shakuhachi on any given bridge spanning the Kamo River decorated with kiboushu (the caps on the posts). Since he played Benkei in the Kabuki collab, which is wildly appropriate given he is a warrior monk with absurd strength, I like to believe he's at Gojo Bridge, where Benkei met his future master Yoshitsune. (Actually, due to changing streets throughout history, they'd have been at the bridge north of that one, modern day Matsubara Bridge. Sigh, technicalities.)

Kiyohime crossing the Hidaka river, powerful art by Miki Katoh (seen on)
This piece show a variation of the Kiyohime myth. Usually the snake transformation takes place at the Dojoji temple - it’s the version featured in kabuki play Musume Dojoji.
The variation tells that Kiyohime, enraged by the monk Anchin rejection, transformed into a snake/dragon while swimming across the raging Hidaka river. (This take is super interesting as dragon/snakes are usually linked to water bodies in Asia.)
This transformation is heavily pictured in art, like in this famous ukiyoe by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka (the uroko kimono pattern depicts snake/dragon scales):

DOJOJI
The story of Kiyohime
The Legend of “Dojoji” is a tragic love tale depicted in many forms of Japanese traditional performing arts. The original story tells about a young girl called Kiyohime who fell in love with a handsome young Buddhist priest named Anchin. He gives her false promise to visit on the way back from his journey. Kiyohime's passion and the understanding she was deceived grows fierce transforming her body into a big serpent. She starts chasing after her unfaithful lover. Meanwhile Anchin reaches Dojoji Temple and begs the priests to hide him. They decide he hides inside a big cast bronze temple bell and Anchin follows it. However, when the serpent reaches the temple, she wraps herself around the bell bursting into flames to heat the bell until it becomes red-hot leaving Anchin burn to a crisp.
In our visual story, we tried to show how someone transforms from a young heartbroken girl into a monster. Using lighting, special make-up and styling, we manifested changing shapes and textures sliding from light into darkness, going from smooth to rough. Darkness captures space. It is when the beast comes out. However, it is not the state she want to live in and in last photos we see how Kiyohime cries with bloody tears understanding deep inside the spectrum of what she has become….

with gojo's theory of love is the most twisted curse, i wonder if akutami would bring it back to attention with another japanese folklore, especially the story of kiyohime. basically a woman liked a monk who was travelling on a pilgrimage but he was trying to avoid her and chose a different route on the return journey & the woman died in grief after finding out abt it. after her death a giant serpent emerged from her bedroom (i think she turned into that) pursue the monk b4 killing him in a (1)
bell in the dojoji temple where he had hidden. said monk appeared in a dream of a senior priest years after, begging the latter to get a copy of the lotus sutra to release him n kiyohime from their suffering in their rebirths. apparently when it's done they were reborn in separate heaven (2) - 🐱
gojo’s quote about love being the most twisted curse....UGH!!! That would be a great idea! I'd love to see more cultural/folklore allusions in the manga!
speaking of that quote....i have a drabble half written (takes place in the prequel) where gojo basically admits that he’d rather curse you than let you go LMAO
#romance amiright😁#ladies if a man ever tells you this RUN🗣#rip! mc please please please just get together with shoko already❗️❗️#ask#🐱 anon
