hold on i have an unhinged idea. au where the person Experiencing The Timeloop is a non-sif party member, but loop is still the same (ex-sif) as in canon. they want to help their time-looping friend of course, but they CANNOT bring themselves to actually talk to them out of grief, alienation, Knowing they'll be seen as a stranger by someone they love, and of course guilt for causing them to be the looperrrrr. you know who they CAN talk to and use as a proxy to help their friend, though? their cute little replacement understudy! siffrin doesn't remember the loops so they'd have to re-explain stuff and/or find the best ways to guide or manipulate him each time. and they'd also need to figure out a way to feed the information they do find through siffrin to the looperrr party member somehow without being too suspicious or giving themselves away because they can't can't can't talk to them. i'm sure everything would go so well and smoothly and normally 👍🏽 and definitely not actively cause more problems and suspicion towards a genuinely relatively clueless siffrin in a way that'll put them in a fun and new Torment Nexus every loop 👍🏽 trust.

I love the concept of human Loop, and I do think that Loop, if they were to be given a physical, human form, would definitely just be a second Siffrin (for obvious reasons. lmao)

But I don't think they'd want to keep it that way

I think Loop would body craft themself and give themself their own look. I don't think they, with how much everything has changed and with how much they themself have changed, would feel comfortable looking like Siffrin

At this point, they're their own person

They wouldn't want to just be Siffrin #2

It was, in a word, fucked that he had to take gym a second time along with the rest of senior year. It was, in several words, absolutely fucking bullshit because he had actually passed gym the first time. Surely, his senior gym credit should still count, even if he’d treated it like office hours to set up deals with meatheads in a venue that didn’t actively put him in harm's way. Well, mostly out of harm’s way, as the blood spotting his uniform shirt can attest.

Hell, there were some days his last block gym class was the only one he’d attend. Slipping in with the bell at 2:15 in time to be the last one in the locker room and out on the line for attendance. Now he’s being forced back through it for what? No seriously, for what? Surely there was some other elective that could fit in this block, shouldn’t the second year senior get first dibs at study hall or something.

Maybe if he complains enough about the loss of his civil liberties. His freedom of expression is being taken from him by forcing him into this shit uniform. Maybe if he’s a big enough headache they’ll just let him leave. He’s learned the rules to enough of these little sports, there had to be a test he could take to prove that he doesn’t need to be a walking target on a volleyball court.

Not that he thinks Jenny Marshall meant to peg him in the face and give him a bloody nose, but the sentiment stands. Between the shorts and the blood he looks like a sad shaky shelter dog or something.

There are, of course, some fringe benefits. Eddie may have to wear the signature Tiger green, but so does Steve Harrington, who definitely has the legs for the outrageously short gym uniform they’re forced to dress out in. And if he’s going to keep looking for that silver fucking lining like he promised Uncle Wayne he would; thanks to Jenny Marshall he gets to ride the bleachers and watch pretty, pretty Steve Harrington bounce around in those shorts for the rest of class. Maybe a more bronzed lining than silver, Harrington hangs onto the sun warmed summer glow even with the October chill creeping in. Freckled thighs with nary a tan line in sight Eddie lets himself wonder if the rumors that had circled the big 18th birthday bash are true: when Harrington’s not in the swim team speedo he doesn’t swim in anything at all.

The volleyball net that Steve is playing at, floppy and torn, is more of a suggestion than a barrier. Now that Eddie is benched, it’s Harrington’s five against Hargrove’s four. The tides haven’t changed in anyone’s favor.

Billy had placed himself across from Harrington at the start of the game, his patience rewarded now as they rotate positions and the King is once again opposite him in the front row. That not-barrier doing all it can to keep the two a foot apart, Hargrove pacing in the eighteen inches of space his position in front of Steve allows. Jenny and her nose killer serve send the ball over to Hargrove’s side of the net. They get it up in the air again and Hargrove smacks the ball down hard between Steve and Sarah Smith. 

It hits the floor with a thwack that makes Eddie wince. Almost drowning out Billy’s mean little laugh, but there’s no missing the smug look on his face. The far too proud of himself smirk he sends somewhere to the left of Steve. 

It’s for Steve though. Definitely for Steve.  

The usurper to the throne, Hargrove has been sniffing for weakness that Eddie was pretty sure wasn’t there. The closest Harrington has ever come to failure was last year’s attempts at Nancy Wheeler, one he seemed to give up as soon as it started.

Tommy H. would be the reason, if Eddie had any guesses. He tried to base an NPC group around the Harrington court once. Tommy a loyal knight to a mostly inept king. Tommy who sidles up close to Sarah, despite his own maiden the Lady Carol playing one net over, smirking the same smug smile as Hargrove -- maybe another weak spot in the Harrington reign -- he says something loud enough to embarrass Sarah if the way she flushes and scurries closer to Harrington’s side is any indication but not enough for Eddie to make out.

He never did get the character balances to work in the game. He scripted and broke down motivation and drive but every time he just couldn’t figure out what Hagan did for Steve. Couldn’t figure out why Harrington kept his so-called friends around.

Gym takes too damn long to end. Or maybe it ends too soon. The final bell that releases him from his prison like Cthulu from the deep is buried quickly under the ringing in his ears as Steve Harrington is calling his name. Resignation fills his spirit, but when the King beckons you wait.

the thing about time loops is that they're both freedom and entrapment

freedom to do as you please, to forgo all responsibilities, to not worry about how anyone else may perceive you— you can go out in full chainmail armor or completely naked— cause at the end of the day they all just forget. you don't have to work, or study, you don't even have to worry about money you can spend all you have and more, it'll all come back the next day. you can give in to all your worst impulses, there's no consequences to any of your actions.

but it's also a prison, trapped in a never ending routine, where nothing ever changes. the same conversations with the same people, never being able to get close to anyone, because they'll just forget whatever you did or talked about. you finally have time to learn how to knit, but all your work will be undone next loop. you're stagnant, you can't advance, can't make the changes you need to for your life to be better. you can and will change, but no one and nothing else will. you're trapped, forced to endure your life, no matter how horrible it is. because what else can you do but endure? It's out of your control, and you know it.

Today I sat down and on-and-off spent about 4-5 hours mixing a big new piece I've written for Amadeus, that is going to have layers just like the marimba piece. The base layer is very sparse, then a guitar layer fades in at a certain gameplay cue, and a percussion layer fades in last.

This is a sort of vague demonstration of the progression using only part of the piece (can't spoil the whole thing just yet) - but just imagine that the guitars and drums can fade in at ANY point, and you're expected to hear the piece in each phase at least once all the way through - anyway I think I got it about 80% to where I want it to be? so I am VERY pleased

In Drunk Space Pirate, Jonny calling himself first mate is the best way to show his character growth.

Ivy died in a library fire. Her last name is Alexandria. As in the Library of Alexandria. Which burned down.

Marius “mom says hi” von Raum in the UDAD live version of Favored Son.

Orpheus being called a borderline child in UDAD live show, but in the fiction he’s like 27.

Jonny playing the drums in the UDAD live show during Sirens. Very flamboyantly/pissily

Actea and Lyssa. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it discussed but it is one of my favorites. The vocals are so so good. And the fact that Actea thought that they were both running from the Hunter, only for Lyssa to be the thing she should have been running from.

The bass line in Cinder’s Song? So good.

Once you start to notice Ivy’s music in the back you can’t stop listening. I feel like it really pulls everything together.

“Also he fought a bear…” in Hereward the Wake. Such a random line and I love it.

All of Odin’s vocals in TBI. They really said “just do whatever.” And I’m thinking specifically of Odin and Ragnarok 2.

Seriously have you tried hitting the high notes in Ragnarok 2? Impossible.

How the hell did Brian get his prophetic powers? Both as the Hanged Man Merlin and in the City.

All of the live whistling is so impressive.

I just realized that Ulysses has their own motif in UDAD. It’s the piano from My Name is No-one and also repeats in ‘Olympians’ and Torn Suits at least.

I know it’s been mentioned but Lost in the Cosmos’ melody in the background of ‘The Tower’ is such a good foreshadowing moment.

Prometheus was punished for giving the people of Ilium a FIREwall. It’s so good it loops around to being bad.

The church bells in Gunfight at Dolores Guard signifying that it’s noon.

In the DTTM records by of Hellfire Jonny pauses right before ‘flock’. To gain control of the crowd, like a preacher would.

The Mechanisms are hated in-universe. So much. You can’t tell me that Lyf was the first Inspector to have to talk to them. The others probably all quit.
