#dream about EP

[PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, almost nothing factual here, so feel free to skip it] I just had the cutest dream! Paul McCartney talking about EP 💭⚡

Disclaimer: This has barely nothing to do with real life, except for real life events and something about male hairstyles fashion trends in the 70s. I just found it a cute thing to have dreamed about this and wanted to share with you.

So... I've just dreamed Sir Paul McCartney had shared a post on his Instagram account about Elvis. 😅🥹 That's one of those "out of the blue" dreams I wonder "how in the world my mind figured dreaming something like this tonight?" but anyway... In my dream, I was reading what Paul wrote. Those were the words:

"Much of my 70s look come from this magazine [he shared the cover of it, but I didn't see it clearly] I bought up before meeting Elvis in 1965. He shown me how to do it [the hairstyles] from the top to the neck. He was a very kind man." — (Paul McCartney in my head, just tonight *lol*)

That was it. It really sounds like Paul, doesn't it? LOL. I found it so cute! It doesn't make much sense a magazine from the mid 60s having info on what would be trending on male hairstyles in the 70s, at least not for me... maybe if it was 1969 it would make more sense. Still... that would've been such a cute to share about EP!

On male hairstyles from the 70s, well... it was pretty much overgrown time, either with the shaggy, blow-dried, mullets hairstyles and so on, serving hair was the word! also there was lots of facial hair, like those mutton chops and big mustaches, and the thing Elvis loved, made it trending and immortalized in history: the sideburns - ever so present with him since the 50s (except during the army years) and which grew bigger as he got older. So what could Elvis have had possibly teach Paul McCartney on 70s hairstyles? I wonder. EP was much about shaggy hair that time.

Now, back to talking about the dream... I saw pictures of Paul McCartney in my dream (which one I don't remember now), one picture he shared on this Instagram post, showing his 70s hairstyle, and I also heard his voice in my head while I was reading his words, but I didn't see or listen to Elvis at all. Many dreams I have about him are something like this. Either I see someone looking quite like him, and I know it's him in my mind, but I can't see the face clearly, or I hear the songs he sang but he never speaks to me directly, or I only face mentions of his name but none Elvis image or voice. I've never dreamed about EP in a clear way, it's either mentions or blurred images of him, things my mind knows but my mind doesn't show me. At least up until now - except this one time I had this moment I thought I heard EP talking directly to me - it wasn't a dream, but I couldn't see his face either. What a boomer! Maybe one day.

Anyway... I thought about sharing this just because it was a cute dream, to me, like I said. That Elvis/Beatles meeting at Elvis' home at 525 Perugia Way, Bel Air, Los Angeles, on 27 August 1965, remains a thing to our imaginary to try to figure out how it happened. Of course, we have some recollections about that night on books, some interviews with Paul too, but the details are important and those we'll probably never know. Can you imagine THIS ELVIS below teaching 70s hairstyle to Paul McCartney that 1965 night? 😅 He was indeed a guy that didn't hold back what he had, so I can understand how my mind figured Elvis would have teach Paul anything he said he was interested in, considering Elvis knew something about it. EP was a generous guy. I can understand too how my mind portrayed EP as a visionary. He was in fact quite one.

Side note: Yes, my mind reaaally figured out the year of that meeting correctly, 1965. Paul actually mentions the year in his "Instagram post" I dreamed. Now, fully awake as I write this down (I have this thing about writing all my interesting dreams), I couldn't say if the year was precisely 1965 so I had to Google it to be sure I had the accurate info before I shared this with you. My mind didn't give the details on day/month or address, clearly because in real life Paul wouldn't share this on Instagram, not on this kind of post at least. He was just sharing a curiosity about him that involved Elvis somehow, so the exact info didn't matter, but still... the exact year my subconscious mind knew about... when my conscious mind wasn't sure. I find it SO amazing how our brains works.

i'm sorry but hotd positing that all women are innately cautious and peaceful and compassionate while men are rash warmongers is not a feminist win! i could see the value in everyone being hesitant to go to war at the onset of the story because it intensifies the tragedy of this house tearing itself apart, but at this stage, rhaenyra has as much reason for bloodlust (if not more) as the men on the show. it's pretty heavily implied that the shock of her usurpation killed her daughter, aemond killed lucerys, and one of aegon's kingsguard snuck into her quarters with the intent to assassinate her. most importantly, she has felt entitled to the throne since she was named heir as a child. she should be incensed! rhaenyra's inaction in the season 1 finale due to a sudden aversion to violence was already stretching believability -- this is the same woman who expressed nothing beyond mild shock at vaemond's beheading, who plotted with daemon to have an innocent man killed to facilitate laenor's escape while declaring that the realm should fear her. to have rhaenyra insist on peace at this point in the story, when war is already well underway, is incredibly irrational.

this problem is not limited to rhaenyra. alicent ordered larys to kill mysaria's network of spies and any suspected traitors in the red keep, presumably without any due process, and neither of these decisions was depicted with the gravity they deserved for a character who was once horrified by any bloodshed. meanwhile, aegon had a few extra ratcatchers executed, and not only was the direction sufficiently ominous, but we also got a lengthy monologue from otto about how it would spell his doom. it is probably pointless to bring up rhaenys because she is written less like a believable human being and more like a mouthpiece for the writers to assert whatever political opinion they believe is correct in a given episode -- but she did very much kill dozens if not hundreds of smallfolk last season. she did do that and very clearly did not care. why is she an advocate against war? for both alicent and rhaenys, there is a strange dissonance where their actions are at odds with their attitudes about opposing large-scale war for the good of the realm. i'm not saying this dissonance cannot exist, but it should at least be acknowledged.

helaena raising concerns about the losses suffered by the smallfolk might have worked in isolation, but for it to accompany everything above is exhausting. can none of these women be allowed to feel for themselves?

My current protocol theory is that these aren't about the fears, but about people's desires, and the monstrous things that people do to achieve them (cf: tmagp 4) or the things that those desires once fulfilled lead to (cf: tmagp 2)

Something that keep going through my head is how much I adore the quiet intimacy between Brimsley and Reynolds. Not just the sexiness, but just the intimacy. They seem so comfortable with each other when they're up in one of their rooms and their walls are down. And it's all thanks to Sam and Freddie. The book fails to capture the magic most of the time.

Like seriously the comfort of the dinner in bed scene in Ep 2 is just off the charts. The fire crackling, the candles lit. Reynold's head on Brimsley's chest, just lounging against him, even though he is by far the taller. Brimsley giving him the glass of wine(are they sharing it? I bet they are) and then smiling chuckling as he lifts food to his mouth but as the chuckle is gone, he's turning back to Reynolds.

It's so easy for them. This quiet post sex intimacy of sharing food and wine, talking and smiling together. The image that the storm is over and they have each other. (It's why I reject the novel that they were just fucking around at the time, it's clear that there was something between them by that point but that's a whole nother post but if it's novel verse sign me up for fwb to love match!)

(I also love the idea of Reynolds lounging on Brimsley and Brimsley feeding him, the novelization basically confirms that Brimsley was the superior in the bedroom and that scene kinda suggests that it wasn't JUST sexually but for a little bit, Reynolds could drop all pretenses and worries for George and just let himself be cared for and spoiled and let someone else lead and I think he probably needs that SO MUCH, needs the headspace Brimsley can take him to and I honestly need bottom!Reynolds fic so much so Reynolds can just get a break from being so strong and perfect)

And the bathtub scene where they're just talking quietly and letting each other see how much they want a lifetime and asking "do you think it's possible?" but their voices make it clear that they're not hopeful. That George can make it. But they both hope it to be so. For them and their King and Queen. While just gently rubbing each other's arms and drawing nonsensical shapes. Just at the peak of trust and unguardedness and comfort.

I just think it's something we don't get a lot in Bridgerton. Intimacy. It's all grand gestures and sex and while the Ep 2 hurried make out and banter was perfect, Freddie and Sam genuinely SHONE in those quiet moments of an established couple. I wish we got the stable scene so badly.

I want more of them together. (Also posts about the novel are coming don't worry)

I just wanted to say I love your Elvis drawings (my favorite is the one with him and the mirrors). Will you be doing any more of those in the future? I'd love to see more!

That aside, I really only draw him when I have a good idea in mind. There is a surplus of thoughtless media / art of him and I don't want to add to it.

Fun fact : The illustration you mentioned took me a year to finally sit down and draw ( The idea for it popped into my head during my second viewing of the Baz film, all the way back in June 2022 ). I'm happy you like it - It's one of my favorites too
