Returning to strengthen roots and bring up a young family, albeit a move inland from where we grew up to a place dominated by hills and woven through with rivers. Y Mynyddoedd Ddu/ Black mountains of Bannau Brycheiniog frame our landscape - ancient hills with a rawness and freedom, which connect us through the ages to a sense of place.

BIOGRAPHY
Peiriant are a duo of violin and electric guitar, who play with melody and tonality to create atmosphere and soundscape. Electronic equipment, samples and found objects also add to their semi-improvised pieces, which are spun from grounded ideas.
Rose and Dan Linn-Pearl draw from their foundation in folk and classical in addition to post-rock, minimalism and sound art to weave experimental music that is anchored in the Welsh landscape. They play with layers of drone and dissonance, contrasting with songs and pure tones to give a rich and sonorous auditory experience.
‘Welsh-born duo Peiriant’s self-titled LP sculpts startling instrumentals from the bones of folk music, guitar delays and deep drones.’
- Jude Rogers (The Guardian)
Live performances have included BBC Radio 3: Late Junction at Chapter arts centre, Cardiff 2017, NAWR concert series (Swansea & Hay on Wye 2018 to present). They are regular performers at Nozstock festival & How The Light Gets In. In 2021 they released River Songs E.P : A collection of four pieces inspired by the River Wye.
ABOUT
Rose Linn-Pearl balances playing the violin with work as a veterinary ophthalmologist.
Early classical training and folk complemented a lifelong interest in improvisation and experimental music. Her interest now lies predominantly in tonal shifts and playing with discord and pattern.
Dan Linn-Pearl is a composer, songwriter and sound artist. His work includes alternative rock and electronic music, sound installation, experimental film and moving image under Deaf Pictures. He is a founding member of sound art collective Gwaith Sŵn who produce a monthly thematic show for award-winning arts station Resonance 104.4FM.
Both Rose and Dan are members of experimental concert series NAWR whow curate shows featuring established and up-and-coming artists. These take place in Swansea, Aberystwyth and Hay on Wye.

193: Wyrd Visions // Half-Eaten Guitar
Tumblr media
Half-Eaten Guitar Wyrd Visions 2006, Blue Fog
The usual fear with learning biographical details about your favourite occult-coded neo-folk musician is discovering that they’re actually a Nazi. (Or possibly worse still, if prizing authenticity: finding out they aren’t.) If said musician is from Toronto though, the real dread is finding out that they have a LinkedIn.
Self-released in 2006 and reissued in 2014 by Phil Elverum in a seemingly plain cardboard sleeve that bears text impressions more easily deciphered with the fingertips than the eye, Wyrd Visions’ Half-Eaten Guitar has an intentional air of mystery. The sounds within (extremely slow, extremely minimal mostly-acoustic Nordic folk informed by the aesthetics of first-wave black metal) also point towards the work of a quasi-outsider artist, the sort of recording a label press release can claim to have “discovered” through some unlikely series of events. Still, notice how the inside of the sleeve is a striking, bold Undertaker-purple? That’s a clue.
youtube
As a matter of fact, Colin Bergh, the artist behind Wyrd Visions, was much better known in Toronto as part of the trio who founded Bad Day, a fashion and culture zine whose splashy gallery launch parties were attended by the fab international and hosted by people like James Franco and Gus Van Sant. (This sort of thing was an especially big deal in credibility-thirsty Toronto, a legitimate world city gnawed by the inner fear that it is secretly Columbus, Ohio with more colourful money.) The knowledge of Bergh’s identity as an haute couture guy whose previous band was called Awesome is inevitably going to impact how you hear Wyrd Visions. Any perception of irony is poison to monkish music like this, because it introduces the possibility that what you are hearing is actually a very slow, (almost literally) one-note joke. And if it is intended as a joke, are you a fool for following your instinct to engage with it on its own droning terms, for sinking into the somnambulant world it seems to evoke?
To Bergh’s credit, I think Wyrd Visions ultimately comes across as a sincere venture and that, given time, Half-Eaten Guitar’s stillness and austerity have the power to draw in even highly skeptical listeners. Wyrd Visions borrows black metal’s somber chord progressions and wintry vibes while jettisoning its machismo, particularly in Bergh’s youthful, Grizzly Bear-esque vocals. At times Half-Eaten Guitar is reminiscent of Agalloch’s more ambient work, such as the mournful electric guitar that enters on bonus track “Air Conditioning.” There is probably a think-piece (or a think-sentence) someone might feel like writing about someone from the fashion world covering Mayhem’s “Freezing Moon,” a band with a few guys in it who’d’ve at least thought about murdering Bergh for daring to play their music had he tried it in 1993. But, ach, is that sort of thing interesting anymore? Better to say that Bergh and guest singer Jennifer Castle find a nice midway point between campfire and bonfire light for the tune, a cold thrill in the old command to “follow the freezing moon.”

I'm so excited to finally post this.
My full Murder Drones reference! so hopefully I can keep up consistency
Obviously, this is full of my own head canons so close ups and explanations under the cut (it's a LOT) >;]
To be totally honest my focus was on the main characters, and I think that shows in the designs of the Manor Drones and Cabin Fever Squad. BUT I'll still do my best to explain my process here.
For the Disassemblers I decided to do very different builds for each but the same color pallet.
My idea here was that since each have a different designation letter, that was akin to their model type. That's also why "the company" was able to clone J so easily, they just had her model on file. (also like to imagine there are 26 different forms of the Disassemblers Imao).
I had all the colors remain the same to show their unity and of course the Absolute Solver-ification of the basic Worker Drone color scheme. Essentially, I just took the monochromatic WD colors and put the highlighter yellow over it that Cyn loves so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For J I did a more lean and strong build. I wanted her to exude that leader energy. I also made her Core a star shape for similar reasons and then I also noticed that N and V had caution stripes at the top of their legs but as far as I could see J didn't, so I decided to add those to the very top of her legs to finish the garter belt look she's got going on. For her hair, I actually really like the pigtails I just flattened them out a bit because the big cutesy poof they had didn't fit her style in my opinion. I brought it back for her worker form though.
With V I gave her a round yet sharp look. (My favorite added detail is the sharp shoulders) I did make her the shortest of the DD because everyone loves the small but vicious archetype. For her core I made it a sword or spear shape, because she's extra violent. And finally, I made her legs a little more pointed than J's to finish off the sharp look.
Last but CERTAINLY not least, N's design is meant to be soft and plushy but still has a little edge to it. His hair is fluffy but the tufts curl to be sharp, His core is meant to look like a heart but it's upside down so the point is still facing the top (which makes it look more like a club but whatever) I gave him a rounder torso than the other two and his elbow and kneecaps are softer too. His general construction is still menacing, though, so don't get too comfortable with all the fluff. I also spent a LONG time contemplating if I should make his thighs black to look like little biker shorts to contrast with J and V's sock looks but went against it because I love how the hazard stripes stand out against the white.
For N and V's worker forms I basically took out all the sharp edges and rounded them out. J's still a little sharp though not as much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the Workers I did the opposite of the DD. They have the EXACT same body types (minus Uzi because she's little) and instead I changed their color schemes to all be unique to their eye lights
Since Worker Drones were made to... well... WORK I think their initial manufacturing would be pretty uniform. A copy and paste if you will. It was only when they were left to their own devices that the WD started to customize themselves. Thus came the wigs and clothes.
I like to think the color started with those infected with the Solver, so Yeva and Nori gained color and then passed that on to their kids. Thats also why Alice has color, but Khan, The Manor Squad, and some other drones in the colony don't. Does not explain Lizzy and Thad though (maybe they have a distant relative that had the solver idk)
It was a lot harder to infer about what a base WD body would look like Maybe I was just looking in the wrong places, but I had to infer with things like the worker helmets, we see every WD except Uzi wear one but they seem more coordinated with their outfits so I decided to just continue my color head-canon that its naturally monochrome and you can customize it if you want to!
I added a light to the feet of the worker drones to match the hand lights. I don't think there's a canon reason for the lights but, on the workers at least. I think they're there to help them do grunt work in the dark! to light their ways in caves or tight spaces so they could do their job better. Now they're just another robot cosmetic
Tumblr media
For the Parents, I gave them wrinkles because I thought it was unfair that Khan was the only one who got them. So, Nori gets crow's feet hurray! No but I probably had the most difficult time with these drones. It was hard to separate the canon from fanon since we know so little about them, but I fought off all the demons to keep their designs relatively grounded. Minus Khan's scar. And Alice's more natural horns. and-
I also gave some drones eyelashes. just cause. if I thought it fit, I added it and if it didn't, I didn't add it.
Now you may be wondering "Lexo what's up with all the cracks!?" the idea here is that it's the solver taking over. We see in Cabin Fever and Home that the solver virus fundamentally changes the body of a drone. The crack in the casing is basically this process. Depending on the stage of which your drone is at it changes the intensity. We see Cyn being the main host and essentially patient 0, so she has the most cracks. It starts at the core then spreads until it reshapes you entirely and you become a Disassembly Drone. Unless you stop it in time. Thats why J, V, and N have the pale lines on the bottom of their torso, they're more pretty and cleaner since they achieved the solvers "final form" so to speak. Nori and Yeva on the other hand, have repaired cracks but they're still messy since they were stopped mid-way. Alice, however, did not stop the spread with the solver cure since she was "abandoned" so instead she just cut out her core entirely. Yup. Shes functioning on pure insanity and spite at this point. And then of course with the new hosts, there is light spreading. TL: DR the cracks are a zombie bite.
Tumblr media
But that's it for my Murder Drones head canons and designs! If you read all the way to the end, you're a champ and I love you. Have a cookie superstar <3🍪

i think sacred music in the kryn dynasty would be very cyclical and repetitive in form to symbolize the idea that life is a continuous thing (at least those who are consecuted right right) and is a cycle across lifetimes and yeah

GHOST DRONE AU FACT: Beanie has the power (of using puppy eyes) to make N do whatever she wants and she uses that power to force him to eat rocks.
Not to say he didn't try to say no. However, it's very hard when this literal four-year-old says "but I worked very hard on it" and now he had to pretend to eat the damn rocks to satisfy her. You better believe he was making the "I don't like what I'm shoving in my mouth but i'm pretending I'm enjoying it for my tiny child's sake" face.
Unfortunately, this dumbass accidentally taught his daughter to look in drones' mouths to check if they ate, because Beanie definitely refused to eat things she didn't like and that was basically N's way of getting her to do it. So the horror on his face. When he realized that he'd actually have to swallow rocks. To ensure his daughter wouldn't feel betrayed by the fact her daddy didn't eat what she made for him.
Basically, by the end of it, he landed up telling V: "I have been digesting rocks for three hours. Send help."
This event is canon to the AU, btw.

"Do you know where we are going next?" I asked ART.
Y'know what, I think maybe I don't need any more Murderbot books. I think maybe ending things here is fucking perfect and as much as I love Wells's writing I'm genuinely not sure it can get better for me.
Like, so much of the books are about MB learning how to be a person, about becoming okay with being a complete individual with everything it entails. The first thing it does once it's actually allowed to decide on its own is it runs away from it all (admittedly to go on a mission to confirm some things about its past, because it genuinely just wants to be *good*). It shoves all its emotions away as much as it's able to. Then shit happens, and it makes its first friends, makes decisions based on these friendships, goes through a lot of emotionally intense situations...
And we get to this point here. MB having zero doubts about going with ART says a lot about its relationship with ART, but it also says a lot about its relationship with its humans - it knows that wherever it goes, when it comes back, the humans will still be there. Its humans actively acknowledge its struggles with being a now-free SecUnit and MB is willing to entertain the discussions to an extent and share information about its deeply personal experiences. Hell, System Collapse ends with MB admitting it might be somewhat broken, but that's okay as long as it can keep doing its job, and agreeing to basically do counselling - this is the guy what would rewatch its favourite TV show again and again in order to avoid acknowledging it even had Emotions a couple books back.
Reading this, I know that MB will be okay. It has hopes and goals and genuinely believes in itself and it has an amazing support system that its willing to lean on for the first time in its life. I'm convinced it'll go on to do great things with ART. And that's really the only thing I need to know.
#Murderbot#murderbot diaries#system collapse#Herr's personal tag#Also like. System collapse dives deep into MB's feelings about its life as secunit prior to the events of all systems red#I find this conversation from when they were discussing what would happen if the BE folks got to the colonists first /very/ telling#MB going on about how life as a corporate slave is absolute fucking hell#ART drone saying that they can't just kill people because the alternative is worse than death#ART: would it have been kinder to kill you before you'd disabled your governor module?#MB with zero fucking hesitation: /yes/#(followed by my favourite ART line ever. “You know I am not kind.”)#Like. MB would not have always admitted that it had hated its life as a secunit this openly#Saying it was shit is one thing saying I would rather be dead than think of me or anyone else going through this again is a very different#And here it has zero issues stating that. At least when talking to ART#And then later on it goes on to offer its actual memories for a publicly screened documentary#Because it knows it's the only way to make people see. The only way to save then from the same (ish) fate#And it's willing to do whatever it takes to save these people it's never even met before from what it views as fate worse than death#Including opening up and acknowledging its past experiences and past/current feelings#And I'm just like. Man I couldn't be more proud of you if I tried.#You go MB. Holy fuck I wish I could do what you've done. You might just be the person to defeat this evil capitalism my dude
