#during the sports festival when he froze him in ice

Ok but like back to the shie hassaikai arc and the chronozawa episode (I'm delusional, leave me be) Tamaki stabs chrono with his swordfish hand, and I'm thinking like, What if hari recieved nerve damage from literally being stabbed in the hand?
I wanna do minni comic thing for it
Now I'm thinking of hari being on the run after the raid but not being able to properly defend himself, not even being able to hold a gun properly, his hand starts to shake whenever he holds it and no matter how hard he tries to steady it with the other his aim is still putt off an he can't hit a target in one shot anymore

I'm watching the sports festival, and look, I love the build up in the first episodes because we know Izuku, Iida, Uraraka, and Bakugou want to be great heroes. From season 1, we saw that and got a lot of their information. And then comes Shouto.
In season 1, we got the idea he is a strong student. He ranked 2nd in the quirk assessment test on the first day of class. He beat Ojirou and Hagakure in a matter of seconds during the heroes vs. villains exercise by freezing them. And at the USJ, we get to see how he not only uses his quirk to defend himself, but he is also very intelligent and perceptive. He realized the villains had a reason to kill All Might. He got the information out of the villains by freezing them. He froze the nomu and helped All Might get away from it. And he was ready to fight Shigaraki. We are shown what he can do before we even know who he is. He looks like he's bored or ready to fall asleep half the time. He can be arrogant and a jerk. He's got that mark on his left eye (let's pretend we don't know what it is yet). He know his quirk name and he can use ice and from Present Mic's description, he can burn with his left side. So heat or fire. Cool. He doesn't use his left side, just once, so it's safe to say he prefers his right side or he feels more comfortable with it.
Then the sports festival starts. Reporters and spectators are talking about how Endeavor's son is a 1st year hero course student. We have only been shown that Endeavor is the #2 hero behind All Might. His quirk is fire. He has the most resolved cases.
Shouto challenges Izuku and tells him he'll beat him. No context, no explanation. He did that in front of the whole class and Izuku accepted the challenge. Shouto is cold, crass, and is not here to make friends. He is competitive. Why did he challenge Izuku, of all people? He overheard from Iida and Uraraka that Izuku and All Might are close. So what? He sees Izuku as a worthy opponent whom he can compete against, not because he is a strong student like him, but because All Might is supporting him. That SAYS a lot about Izuku, having All Might of ALL people root for him. Why is he so special that AM is cheering him on? Shouto doesn't know and doesn't care at that moment, but he wants to beat the #1 hero's protège. Shouto wants to be the best. And if he can beat the best hero's pupil, then he'll be the best student himself. (That is my logic.)
During the obstacle course, when Shouto freezes the giant robots, he says he wished UA had given the students something more difficult to fight against, especially since his Dear Old Dad was watching him. He spoke with sarcasm and annoyance and anger. He isn't excited about his dad watching him. He knocks out the robots and is ahead of everyone.
A couple of people in the crowd are talking about how he is very athletic (class 1A's jock confirmed lol), he is smart, and he has a great quirk. One person adds that he isn't surprised because his father is the Flame Hero: Endeavor.
See, it all writes itself. I know I've said Horikoshi sucks at writing, but no he doesn't. This is excellent storytelling. He has given us all the information up to this point to work with and put things together. He puts the information forward and adds onto it and connects the pieces so organically. Who would have guessed Shouto would be the #2 hero's son? Without all those clues and context, it would have come out of the blue. Shouto isn't the type to show off his lineage. From the one line he said of his dad, we can tell he doesn't even like him. I love how Endeavor watching and Shouto challenging Izuku raise the stakes. Izuku is already stressed out by trying to make All Might proud and win. The stakes for him are high already. Add Shouto challenging him and the stakes are higher. Not even mentioning the festival is on live television. Forgot to mention that. It's beautiful. There is foreshadowing. There is world building. We get more characters and character information. And we are following the characters introduced from season 1 that are becoming major players. I just think it's so cool.
I finished episode 16 so that's as far as my commentary goes for now. But I wanted to share my thoughts. Enjoy my essay.

When the leaks summary for that chapter(I can’t remember what chapter it was either 😅, I think it was one of the chapters where we entered the fight between ShigaAFO & Bakugou/big 3 but I’m not sure) said that a student said Dabi manipulated the public, people jumped on that student so fast 😭 and funny thing is it wasn’t in the actual chapter Dabi wasn’t even mentioned in either the fan-translation nor the official! It was literally peeps just falling for hearsay and acting like it’s facts when it was not even the case! Also everything you said in that ask FACTS!
Yeah, I think it was mostly just hearsay, but it was still like a "whoa" moment for me. I get people having sympathy for some of the villains or not liking some of the heroes and vice versa.
But sometimes how people react to what a character does makes me go "Okay, maybe we need to chill". And it be some of the littlest things!
The character won't even be committing a murder or some other horrendous crime, they'll say a line that gives their opinion and the fandom EXPLODES.
This is just me, but sometimes it feels like some of the fandom be playing favorites by the personalities of the characters. Which, yeah, we have our favorites. It's not a bad thing! It's just... I don't know... it's how it comes off sometimes, I guess?
Example, Bakugou gets a lot of hate because of the things he done, and yes those are some bad things, right?.And there's also his personality, the real aggressive type.
Yet, Todoroki (and I adore Todoroki) who, yes, had to deal with Endeavor, had almost killed some kids during the Sports Festival. And this is before we got his backstory! Oh, but I guess because he's pretty and not the aggressive type like Bakugo, we can just brush past it. He admittedly had froze the robots that by one wrong move, a student could have been crushed. If Tetsutetsu and Kirishima didn't have the quirks they had (I'm just realizing they both have been shot at), they could have been SEVERLY injured.
Then, oh ho, Sero! Again, one wrong move and Sero could have been IMPALED when Todoroki did that unnecessary huge ass ice move.
Yes, Todoroki has a shit dad, but at the time his emotions got the better of him and he could have killed a classmate because of it.
"Bakugo..." Bakugo was a bully, yes. But who allowed him? The adults! The adults who didn't just allow Bakugo to mistreat Midoriya but allowed the other students to and even mistreated Midoriya themselves.
The same way the fandom can blame Endeavor for Todoroki's actions, they better be on the adults in Bakugo and Midoriya's lives, too.
And if you're not gonna blame the adults, the same way people continously bring up Bakugo's faults, they better bring up Todoroki's. He is not perfect. For goodness sake, another "unhinged" moment of his is when he called the chief a "mutt". Yeah, yeah. It's funny, but that scene hits different when you read chapter 370 and onwards.
I said it before, everyone in BNHA is flawed. But that's what drives the story. There's many perspectives we can view, but a lot of times I feel like the fandom tends to jump on the bandwagon or don't look past a character's first layer.
When I engage in anything, I like to dive into it just a bit more. To find the what if's, the how's, the why's, the when's.
I won't say I'm an analyzing blog or I'm good at any meta, I'm far from that.
I just have a lot of thoughts because when I get into something, I just do.

Hii, I think your requests are open but I am not sure, so uhm, if they're not open just delete my ask and pretend it was never there, I'd hate to be disrespectful of you. Would you write about Deku, Shoto and Bakugo (or instead of Baku take Shoji) with an s/o that isn't in the hero course and has a shrinking quirk? Like mount lady but reverse, she can get as small as an ant but usuly when she does shrink she'll be shoulder sitting sized? That could make some adorable things like aaaaaaaa >///
fem!s/o with a shrinking quirk
[a/n: uhmm this concept is so adorable 🥺 thank you for the request anon, you’re so polite 💓 I decided to do all 4 boys so I hope that’s okay, sorry if it seems short...I wrote this in between classes hehe 🙈 enjoy!! -yours truly, bunnyy -`ღ´- ]

✤ you bet your diddly doo that this boy has MULTIPLE pages about your quirk
✤ when he first saw you use your quirk it was during the sports festival, you were standing there one second but then it seemed like you just disappeared
✤ he was stunned to see how much strength you actually had even when you were that size
✤ he was convinced that you and shinso were robbed of your spots in the hero course but there wasn’t much he could do about it
✤ I think it would take him a while to finally approach you, but when he does, he’s absolutely ecstatic that you didn’t mind all of his questions
✤ baby boy was quite literally vibrating with excitement
✤ “t-thank you so m-much for answering my questions, (l-l/n)-san.” He was stuttering so much but he couldn’t help it, he was talking to such a beautiful girl
✤ “it’s no problem but call me (y/n), at least that’s what my friends call me.” Now he was bright red as if he wasn’t already
✤ “f-friends?”
✤ but of course “friends” weren’t forever because soon after that, you both had confessed your feelings for each other
✤ from then on, he introduced you to a few of his 1-A class mates
✤ oh boy what a mistake that was
✤ you had gotten along really well with Denki of all people, so one day, the both of you prank bakugo apparently you both have a death wish and of course it backfired
✤ you had burst into the classroom with a panicked kaminari behind you, eyes frantically searching for a certain freckled boy. Your heart beating faster when you could hear explosions getting closer
✤ “Izu! Hide me!”
✤ “huh!? wait how will I-“ he was cut off when you sat on the desk and activated your quirk (you were about 4inches or 10cm tall) and made grabby hands at him
✤ he placed his hand near the edge of the desk so you could jump on
✤ “now put me in your jacket pocket!” Your voice was super cute but he held off his fanboying and did what you said, carefully placing you in his pocket
✤ perfect timing too
✤ “WHERE’S THAT DAMN BRAT?! I KNOW SHE’S IN HERE!!” he caught a glance of kaminari’s blonde hair and growled
✤ “I SEE YOU, DUNCE HEAD!!” And with that, they both were off
✤ you stood up and let your head peak out of the pocket
✤ “(y/n)?! Oh my gosh! That’s so cute!” Mina cooed, making both you and midoriya blush
✤ he carried you around on his shoulder often, he thought it was adorable
✤ he once hid you in the side pocket of his backpack and snuck you into the dorms
✤ it was a success so it was cuddle time!!
✤ if anyone ever bullied you about your quirk, he wad instantly be at your defense and comfort you if you needed it
✤ “Don’t listen to them (y/n), your quirk is amazing and very useful, especially in missions where....” and he went on rambling
✤ but it’s the thought that counts
✤ oh!! I almost forgot!
✤ whenever you were sat on his shoulder and feeling mischievous, stand up and give him kisses on the cheek or neck ;)
✤ this will always effectively fluster him into a blushing and stuttering mess

❆ uhm if you weren’t in the hero course, it would take him a little longer to notice you
❆ but you were friends with ochako so he actually often saw you at lunch
❆ one day, you were all sat down and midoriya asked about your quirk and since everyone seemed interested, you gave ‘em a little demonstration
❆ he was kinda paying attention but the soba was so good so he missed the part where you shrunk down a bit but when a gust of wind knocked you over and you landed in front of him, his eyes widened
❆ you were so tiny 🥺
❆ he held out a finger to you and you smiled greatfuly before grabbing onto it and hoisting yourself up, making sure to dust yourself off
❆ he thought your quirk was rather interesting and whenever you shrunk down to size, he would go all doe eyed because he thought you were so precious
❆ you reminded him of the fairies in the bed time stories his mother used to tell him
❆ (i will fight you if you don’t think he used to LOVE hearing about dragons or fairies and fantasy stories when he was a little boy 😤)
❆ once he realized his feelings for you, he just straight up told you
❆ you guys were the cutest couple, the prince and a fairy (ugh oh my god this is freaking cute)
❆ when you first mentioned that you wanted to try and sit on his shoulder while he walked around and stuff, he was a bit apprehensive since he was afraid of dropping you
❆ so you started off easy, you’d sit on his shoulder while he was doing his homework or something and once he was comfortable with that, then you guys got to the moving around thing
❆ he would love it if you sat on his shoulder while he read a book, and he’d read it to you
❆ as much as he loves your quirk, I honestly don’t see him wanting to just rather hold your hand while ya’ll walked around or something but give him those puppy dog eyes and he’d do anything for you
❆ he’d never out right say it but he loves when your on his shoulder and just nuzzle his cheek
❆ he’d call you his little fairy 🥺🦋
❆ “can I please, I’ve had a really long day.” You pouted.
❆ he softly gripped your chin and gently tugged you closer to his lips
❆ “hop on, my little fairy.” He leaned down and gently met you lips, slowly moving them against yours before pulling away and watching as your cheeks and the tips of your ears turned pink
❆ I’m so soft for this boy

✸ pfft i’m sorry, i just had to use this gif
✸ okay so he’d be all like, “Why would I care about some damn extra!!” As he usually is but specially if you weren’t a part of the hero course
✸ but you were friends with kirishima so he learned to deal with you
✸ he originally saw you do the shoulder thing with kiri and he thought he was having a stroke or something
✸ “kirishima, why do you have a damn bug on your shoulder?”
✸ “huh? Oh that’s (y/n)!”
✸ “hey! Who are you calling a bug, you jerk!”
✸ “call me a jerk again and I’ll squash you like a damn insect! Got that you idiot?!”
✸ one time, you fell asleep on denki’s shoulder and he forgot you were there
✸ so when bakugo saw him acting like a ‘reckless idiot’ he swooped in to save you
✸ he gently picked you up by the collar of your shirt and he put you on his own shoulder, making sure to walk around carefully as to not disturb your sleep
✸ you had accidentally disactivated your quirk so you went back to normal size, causing the both of you to fall to the ground with you laying on top of him
✸ he was in shock so he didn’t really move, your noses were touching, his arms had gone around your waist to hold you still
✸ “I’m so sorry, I-“ you had tried to get up be his hold on your waist only tightened
✸ “shut up! I’m trying to think!”
✸ he turned his head a bit and placed an experimental kiss on your lips
✸ well you definitely weren’t complaining anymore
✸ uhh he’d act like he absolutely hates having you on his shoulder
✸ he lives for it
✸ he likes to have you on his shoulder while he cooks so you guys can talk and whatever
✸ if you’re ever being a brat while on his shoulder, he’ll threaten to drop you in the hot oil
✸ he likes to tease you when you’re tiny
✸ as retaliation, you take his things while your tiny, like you’ll steal his eraser or something and he’d tear up his backpack looking for it before he finally spots it on the desk with you sitting on it
✸ he constantly worries about you because denki and sero like to mess with you when you’re in tiny mode
✸ it’s been too many times that he’s found you taped to something while posting about it
✸ i feel bad for the poor soul that decides it’s a good idea to bully you for your quirk
✸ he would quite literally, ‘blow up their asses’

♡ I think shoji is a little apprehensive about making new friends since he’s a bit insecure but he’s open to the idea
♡ so when he sees that you’re eating lunch alone, he decided to sit with you
♡ you were surprised that he had sat across from you, you froze in place while looking at him
♡ he hadn’t said anything though, he just ate his lunch and you relaxed, continuing to eat yours
♡ this went on for a couple of weeks before you finally broke the ice by offering him some of your onigiri, you watched as he grabbed the onigiri and fed it into the mouth on one of his arms
♡ “your quirk is really cool!” His eyes widened at your sudden confession, he watched as a blush formed on your cheeks and looked away. “sorry, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable...”
♡ he just chuckled and shook his head
♡ from then on the two of you would share your lunch with each other
♡ “come to think of it, I don’t know what your quirk is.”
♡ it was the first time you guys were hanging out outside of school, he had invited you to the dorms and you two were in the common room drinking some tea
♡ “I guess you’re right—hey! what’s that?!” he whipped around to where you were pointing
♡ “What? There’s...there’s nothing-what?” Once he had turned back to you, you were gone. “(Y/n)?”
♡ as he was looking around, you climbed up his sleeve and onto his shoulder, “I’m right here silly~” he looked around once more but couldn’t find you, “yoo-hoo! Shoji-kun!!”
♡ he looked down to his shoulder and oh...you were tiny
♡ he placed his hand near his shoulder and you jumped onto it, holding onto his finger as he held you right in front of his eyes
♡ he definitely wasn’t expecting that, he was so caught off guard that he started to blush (not that you’d be able to tell)
♡ you guys would also train together often and it was during one of those training sessions that he had confessed to you
♡ when you guys start dating, he’d definitely love to have you on his shoulder all the time...he can’t help it, he thinks you’re adorable
♡ “shoji...”
♡ “yes mr. Aizawa?”
♡ “what’s that on your shoulder?” You froze and trying to think of where to hide. “don’t make me do it.” He sighed
♡ “...do what?” Shoji tried playing dumb as he heard your tiny ‘oh crap!’ as you jumped off his shoulder, right when you did was when Aizawa activated his quirk and you reverted to normal size, falling to the ground
♡ there was a few giggles from the class as you got up, looking around
♡ “(y/n)? How’d you get there?” Shoji continued his act
♡ “you know, I was wondering the same thing...”
♡ “miss (l/n), please go back to class.”
♡ “yes sir.”
♡ that wasn’t the last time the two of you tried that
♡ he would also enjoy if you nuzzled and kissed his cheek while on his shoulder
♡ he vowed to protect you if anything were to ever happed
♡ he thinks you’re adorable, mini sized or not

Hi! I was wondering if you would be able to find some time travel/time loop AUs where Victor and Yuuri (and other members of the YoI cast) are thrown around in time please? Thank you so much!
Hi! These are some time travel fics (mix of both canonverse and AUs) I read and enjoyed:
Previous rec of time travel fics where they meet their other self in the other timeline
a great desire to love by lily_winterwood / @omgkatsudonplease [T, 22K]
For some strange, inexplicable, fantastic reason, Yuuri Katsuki and Viktor Nikiforov are trading places. Kimi no Na wa AU.
All Our Yesterdays by @kitsunebi-uk [E, 102K]
York, England, 2120: Yuuri Katsuki is a dime-a-dozen techie, spending his days doing routine repairs at the university. He hangs out with his friend Phichit, goes for a drink, watches holograms. It’s an existence – but is it a life?
Crowood Castle, Yorkshire, 1392: As the son of a baron, Sir Victor Nikiforov makes judgements where lives hang in the balance. As a knight, he must sometimes end them. It’s what he was born to do – but what of the heavy burden on his soul? Death is all too commonplace, while life and love remain elusive.
When a brilliant scientist goes rogue, journeying to the Middle Ages with the world’s first time machine, Yuuri is stunned to be called on as the last hope of preventing her from changing history. After an abrupt departure, he lands at Crowood Castle disguised as an enemy of the Nikiforovs, Sir Justin le Savage – and will need to act the part if he is to survive. It’s a tall order for someone who can barely tell the back end of a horse from the front. But if Ailis, in her own disguise, discovers who he is, his mission will end in a blaze of laser-gun fire. He must not give his real identity away, even to the beguiling knight he’s falling in love with…
Elevators Out of Order by mtothedestiel [E, 31K] *WIP
A Kate and Leopold AU. In 1876, Victor Nikiforov is a handsome duke with an inventive imagination and a dwindling fortune. The search for a wealthy bride brings him to America, and the capital of progress, New York City. Can an encounter with a mysterious stranger offer Victor a future he never dreamed of?
Meanwhile in 2017, physicist turned paper-pusher Yuuri Katsuki is just trying to get through the day, which is tough enough without surprise phone calls from his roommate announcing he has a 19th-century aristocrat out cold on their sofa.
To top things off, it would seem every elevator in Manhattan is suddenly out of order. What a coincidence.
Here Once and Back Again by Cbear2470 [E, 77K] *WIP *Major Character Death
“What?” was all Yuuri could say as a numbness froze over his body.
Something—something wasn’t right. It was then he realized he couldn’t remember getting to the rink. He couldn’t remember even stepping on the ice to start his program.
He couldn’t remember.
He tried to remember.
*
As Yuuri is skating his free skate, he knows something is off. But, he brushes it aside, too focused on executing the program flawlessly.
It isn't until after it's all over that Yuuri comes to discover that he just skated his gold-medal winning, record-breaking program at the 2014-15 Grand Prix Final in Sochi. The very same final Yuuri had once upon a time placed last in over two years ago.
here's to the glory still to be by @foxfireflamequeen [Not Rated, 12K]
“Hi,” says Viktor, smile bright and camera-ready. His hand, when he extends it, is small and delicate. “I think you know who I am, but we haven’t met.”
His accent is very thick, very Russian in a way Yuri has never heard before. He looks from the offered hand to Viktor’s face, barely an inch higher, and tracks his hair, long and pale and spilling over his shoulders. He can’t be older than, well, Yuri.
“No,” says Yuri. “We haven’t.”

Maelstrom by @feels-like-fire [E, 44K]
Victor Nikiforov is poised to win gold in his fifth consecutive Grand Prix Final. He has the world at his feet, is unparalleled in the sport--right up until a snowstorm blows into Sochi, and he finds himself repeating the same day over and over and over. He stumbles over Yuuri Katsuki, and everything changes.
(Or, the time loop au. Loosely based on Groundhog Day.)
On My Love by RikoJasmine [T, 73K] *WIP
For the second time, the Sochi Grand Prix Finals arrive, and with it a reborn Yuuri Katsuki. “Viktor,” Yuuri thinks over the pounding of his heart, the crowd going silent as the music begins. “I’ll show the world what you meant to me.”
Yuuri often thinks of his life as Before and After Viktor Nikiforov, the marking point being the day Viktor swept into his life and turned his world upside-down. After many years together, an accident leads to Yuuri suddenly waking up in the Before—back in Detroit, before the GPF, before he ever knew Viktor as anything other than his childhood idol.
As if it had all been just a dream.
paso doble by @cafecliche [G, 4K]
"Long before skating, or even ballet, Yuuri would hear about it at festivals, in the boiling humidity of Hasetsu summers dancing the Bon Odori in the streets. He remembered years where Mari would take him home alone, while their parents comforted lingering, distraught dancers. Sometimes, Mari had explained, they were crying because they’d seen lost loved ones. Some cried because they didn’t see who they’d hoped, but a stranger. And some cried because they hadn’t seen anyone at all.
Because it’s not just the steps. The dancers need, even for a second, to feel the exact same thing."
(Or: days before Hot Springs on Ice, Yuuri receives a visitor from another time.)
The League of the Green Carnation by @abarero [M, 62K]
There was one golden rule to being a Time Scientist: do not bring home anything that was a fixed point in history. This meant most artifacts, extinct animals and the like were permissible. Historical figures? Not so much.
But what about an author? Namely, Yuuri’s favorite author, who was murdered in 1887. Could he be saved?
Well. Yuuri was sure as hell about to find out.
Turn Back the Clock by IronScript [T, 59K] *WIP
When Yuuri and Viktor wake up over thirty years in the past, they don't know what to do. Does the other remember?
Luckily that particular question is quickly answered and they can relax slightly, but what about afterwards? Viktor was brought back to right before his first Olympics, and Yuuri isn’t even old enough to compete in Seniors’!
Then there's the fact that they're still very much in love, but a physical relationship would be illegal (and would gross them both out considering Yuuri's age), and they can't count on anyone to just trust them not to do anything age inappropriate. So maybe being long-distance (with as many in-person meetings as possible) would be better until Yuuri becomes a legal adult physically, never mind his actual age.
But it's hard to behave and act naturally when you're forced to be apart from your husband of twenty years, especially during one of the most stressful parts of anyone's life, so Yuuri and Viktor have to distract themselves somehow, right?
Right.
And if everyone around them ends up completely confused and blindsided at their sudden changes (though admittedly they seem to have changed for the better), then so be it!

Touya’s "weak" constitution…or was it just unachievable standards?
I was thinking, is there any proof either Touya or Rei has a weak constitution/a weak body? We've never seen or heard of Rei being physically weak or frail. We've only ever heard her children worry about her mental state, not her physical state. We also see Dabi holding his own during battles, even if he’s burning himself. So, why did Endeavor say Touya inherited Rei's weak constitution if physically both are healthy?
It's because Endeavor has a bias toward fire quirks and it serves as his gauge to assess someone's strength and worthiness. Look at his agency - every employee is a fire user. He doesn't employee any ice, wind, or water quirk users either, which would make a balanced team (see: Inasa and Shouto's fire tornado at the provisional licensing exam.) He never wished he had an ice quirk because he thought ice would be a useful fighting quirk to supplement his fire quirk. Instead, he wanted an ice quirk for thermoregulation and that's it. He never acknowledges Shouto's skilled ability to use his right side. It's always "SHOUTO USE YOUR LEFT SIDE" and he only ever emphasizes Shouto training Half-Hot and learning fire-related ultimate moves. Endeavor considers Shouto's right side as a convenient accessory, kind of like those 9 wee wees (first aid emergency kits) Shouto carries on his belt. Endeavor even calls Shouto an idiot for not using his fire side during his match with Sero at the sports festival when, honestly, did that battle call for fire? Shouto did fine only using his ice that time.
Like Midoriya said, Half-Cold is only half of Shouto's power, so why would Endeavor hyperfixate on improving/training only Shouto's left side instead of all his power? It's because Endeavor wants Shouto to be a fire-only user and limit the ice to a cooling mechanism, which is Endeavor's way of living vicariously through him to become #1. You could argue that Shouto already trained Half-Cold on his own and it doesn't need more training, but would that be the mentality of someone who's been the #2 hero for over 20 years and started training his son at 5 years old to surpass a man who was in his 40's at the time? Would Endeavor say, "You can stop training Half-Cold now Shouto, you're strong enough"? He'd never say that about Half-Hot either.
In Endeavor's eyes, the ice quirk and the body type for it are inferior. It's stated in canon that Rei doesn't like the heat, and we assume it's because of her ice quirk. Her body is suited for colder temperatures. Otherwise, she'd freeze anytime she used her quirk. But, Endeavor considers Rei and her body "weak" because she can't withstand heat, even though she's not supposed to.
So, Touya inherited Rei's constitution, aka her body type that is built to withstand cold temperatures. But the problem as we all know is that he inherited Endeavor's flames, and anytime he uses his quirk, his body burns. So, it's not that Touya was weak, but that he wasn't blessed with the ideal genetic combination of a body that was a good match for a fire quirk, and for that Endeavor shamed him and told him he wasn't good enough, that basically Touya’s entire existence was inherently wrong.
So no, Touya isn’t weak physically. He never was weak and there was nothing wrong with his body. Having a quirk doesn't mean you have to use it - a lot of people in the manga don't use theirs. Touya was a child who didn't win the genetic lottery but was told he’d become #1 someday, but then that came crashing down once his body couldn’t keep up. It must have been damaging for him to hear he was weak and therefore lesser because of how his body was built, for something he couldn’t change and had no control over. It's like being told by your parent who has a deep tan 24/7 that you're worthless because you're albino, but you tan to gain their approval and end up with severe burns. Or, being told that your lungs are wrong because you have asthma. There’s nothing inherently “wrong” about those conditions and they don’t make that individual “weak” - it requires them to take care of themselves differently, sure, but it doesn’t make them “weak” people. There's no correlation between someone's inherent worth and their physical (dis)abilities or physical characteristics.
But, Endeavor passes judgment and assigns value to his children on whether they have a fire quirk and whether they can use it. Like, what if Fuyumi or Natsuo have unbelievably strong ice quirks with a built in heating quirk so they won't get hypothermia or freeze, which enables them to surpass All Might? Endeavor never bothered with them though because they weren't mainly fire users and he wanted Hellflame, through his heir, to surpass All Might.
Also, this emphasizes that Endeavor never paused to think of the repercussions of his eugenics experiments. Endeavor made a child whose body does exactly what he didn't want and even worse - overheats AND burns his own flesh. Even after he realized Touya’s existence with a mismatched body and quirk meant physical agony and harm, it didn't stop him from trying for another child with the ideal quirk even though the child's health would potentially be at risk. What if instead of the ice and fire quirks working together, they work against each other? What if it was impossible to use both symbiotically? What if Touya’s case repeated itself and every time Shouto used his fire he burned because he inherited his mom's "weak" constitution on the left side and vice versa?
Also, this emphasizes that Endeavor only sees Shouto as primarily a fire user who has ice for cooling purposes, similar to how Early!Todoroki tried to be an ice user who sparingly used his fire quirk as a warming mechanism to thaw people and things he froze. But he's literally split down the middle - he's Half-Hot, Half-Cold. Endeavor was trying to mold his son into something his body wasn't built for too, just as he did with Touya. Endeavor was stifling Shouto by developing only his left side and reducing him to only half of his power. If Shouto hadn't trained his right side himself for combat out of spite, would Endeavor have trained it? I doubt it. It's like Endeavor was telling his ambidextrous kid to only write with his left hand when clearly learning to use both would be advantageous.
Ironic, isn't it?

Single-Parent!Headcanons
Characters: Kirishima Eijirou, Kaminari Denki, and Bakugo Katsuki
A/N: Inspired by y’all. Enjoy <3
Warnings: fluff overload? one tiny curse word
Tumblr media
Kirishima Eijirou:
the day his son was born was both the worst and best day of his life
his wife died upon delivery and he almost fainted when he heard the news, bakugo caught him before he could hit the floor
it took him 24 hours before he could gather the courage to go to the nursery and see his baby. he thought he wouldn’t be able to stomach the reminder of losing the love of his life
but when he held the small boy, who instantly nuzzled into his father’s chest, sighing with relief, kirishima was hooked for life
he just continued to hold his son into his chest and cry until he couldn’t anymore
from that day on, he swore he’d be the best parent he could be for his wife and his child’s sake
bc kiri is such a youthful and loving person, taking care of his son was easy, fun, and rewarding
ofc there were hard days, but it was all worth it when his baby would wake up with an adorable laugh, smiling up at him like he was his entire world
they’re two peas in a pod
he and his son are just the cutest pair
he takes his son everywhere, strapping him on his chest with a baby carrier
you bet your ass he’s taken him on (a safe) patrol around the block
kirishima is the kind of dad that puts his kid in a laundry basket, sits them in front of the tv, and acts out rollercoaster sounds
he lives for that loud laugh of his son’s
blows raspberries into the kid’s stomach whenever he starts getting cranky
his son’s first word was “manly” and kirishima spent the entire day bothering the bakusquad about it
everyone has 12 different copies of the videoy’know...just in case
when he takes his first steps, kiri’s swinging him around the house and giving him so many kisses on his chubby cheeks
when he saw his son had one spiky tooth growing in, he almost drowned from the cuteness
the kid gets himself into a lot of trouble tho. he’s always crawling towards the edge of something and putting his hand in things that could totally cut it off. kiri has a heart attack at least once a week
calls him, “son” “bud” and “buddy”
I hc that even though he’s lively around his dad, his son is very shy with new people and in new environments so school is kind of tough for him
but kirishima is always understanding of his troubles and tries his best to let him know that as long as he’s his son, he’ll always be his biggest supporter
if that doesn’t work, they go buy their fav meats and have a random bbq (kirishima just looks like the bbq dad™️ lmao). that always seems to do the trick
when his son enrolls in U.A., he’s there with a banner, his fav meat, and a bunch of tears when he sends him off
his son wears their matching crocs only to cheer up his dad. nothing else
aka he lowkey likes them but you didn’t hear that from me!
kirishima always has the urge to ft his kid, like, every hour. but he won’t bc he knows he’s busy training to be a hero
but he does send him uplifting snapchat videos from time to time
his son still wonders how in the world his dad even knows about snapchat
he makes sure nobody knows about this
when his son calls him about his insecurities, comparing himself to his classmates, kirishima is right there to lift him up. he also dealed with those same issues and tells his son that even on his worst days, he’s strong for just facing the day and he needs to believe in himself before others can believe in him
the next day, the bakusquad is watching the tournament together
kirishima has manly tears in his eyes as his little boy places second place in the sports festival
bakugo is threatening to kill him if he ruins his shirt
Tumblr media
Kaminari Denki:
denki becomes a dad from adopting a pair of four year old twins (one boy, one girl) that were left homeless and without parents after a villain attack
he kinda knew the parents from hero work and felt it was an obligation to at least make sure their children were okay
he wasn’t planning on necessarily adopting them. he was young and inexperienced with children. how could someone like him raise a kid when he could barely raise himself?
but after two visits to the orphanage and seeing how miserable they looked, he couldn’t leave the building without signing the papers
the transition was awkward. the twins were not only traumatized, but distrusting and scared. they didn’t really know kaminari and now he was suddenly their adoptive parent
kaminari tried everything from ice cream, to late night movie snacks, to hide n seek to get them to relax but it wouldn’t work
he almost gave up hope, and thought maybe it was a better idea to take them back to the orphanage. but that was before the night he woke up to them crawling into his bed, scared from the thunder storm that rumbled on outside
kaminari froze, scared that he’d frighten them away with any sudden movement, but he soon relaxed and hugged them close to his chest when they snuggled into his sides. he sleeps with a peaceful mind that night
although, he’s awoken to them bawling their eyes out over the nightmares they had. he panics but takes comfort in how they still grip to his shirt, face in his chest, seeking his comfort
therapy becomes a regular thing after that
kaminari finds more focus in his life
and as those helpful sessions go on, kaminari finds the twins beginning to open up more and more
they all sleep together now bc cuddle piles always scare the bad dreams away
the boy starts asking for kaminari to help him pick out his outfits
and the girl starts asking him about his quirk
it’s small things like that that lead up to things like this:
they’re in the midst of playing tickle monster when they scream with laughter, “stop! stop, daddy, you caught us!”
the twins stare at him in confusion (and slight worry) when he scoops them up and cries like he broke his leg or something
they got two huge scoops of ice cream that night so they don’t question it
dad jokes are a must
he wears typical dad outfits like hawaiian shirts, cargo shorts, and flip flops
he calls them his “little rockstars” and yes, it’s still embarrassing
kaminari is a playful dad who doesn’t really take things too seriously
his children are always laughing at his dumb jokes and are never afraid to talk to him about anything that crosses their minds
although, they won’t talk to him about love interests bc he likes to play match maker
the last time his daughter told him about some girl she was crushing on, she found out she left her a personally signed chargebolt poster for the girl in her name
kaminari called it a little boost in spirit
her brother found it funny
she was horrified
kaminari swears up and down he’s the cool dad. his kids think otherwise, but their friends LOVE how much of a jokester he is. and he lets them stay up at sleepovers
plus, he’s literally chargebolt
how could they not love him?
denki has a little trouble being serious when he needs to be, but he has good kids so it’s not that much of a problem
there was that one time his son tried to help him during a villain attack. even though kaminari ordered him to get to safety, he didn’t and ended up getting hurt
the twins had never seen their father so angry. it was kind of scary. however, in the next moment, he gathered them up in a big hug and made them swear not to scare him like that again
overall, kaminari is the sweet, fun loving, dad that everyone wishes they had
Tumblr media
Bakugo Katsuki:
katsuki became a father the day he found a baby and a note at his doorstep
the note read: “surprise! you’re a dad. i gave you all the legal rights, but you can place her up for adoption if you want.”
least to say, bakugo was pissed
he was even more pissed at himself for getting someone so cold and unloving pregnant
however, he decides to put the baby up for adoption. he cant take care of a baby! he’s at the height of his career. he can basically taste the number one hero spot on his tongue
he’s dead set w the decision, but as he stands outside of the orphanage, he freezes. he just can’t move
bakugo looks down at his daughter as she opens her eyes for the first time. he sees an identical pair of red eyes that make his chest tight with a feeling he hasn’t experienced in a long time
he turns back around and heads back home. it’s easily the best decision he’s ever made in his life
ngl though, growing into the dad role for bakugo was tough
before the girl, he only ever had to think of himself. he was still used to doing everything on his own time and for his own benefit. so being forced to put 100% of his attention to a small helpless human being was not easy
katsuki admits that the first couple of years weren’t his proudest. he was still short tempered, angry with the world, and frustrated bc he felt like his life was ruined
one time, the frustration and sleep deprivation would hit him all at once and he’d just start going off at the baby to just “shut the hell up!” before breaking down and crying with her
it was a dark moment for him, and yet, even after that, his little girl still curled up in his arms to rest when the tears tired her out
it had been a while since he felt unconditional love like that, and so he decided to change for the baby’s sake
you cant tell me that little girl isn’t spoiled rotten
bakugo is a hardass, but he’s all bark no bite. no matter what, he just can’t resist his little girl’s puppy dog eyes
he’s a girl dad to the t
yes he played the princess that needed saving from the big bad dragon. what about it?
his daughter is a firecracker. she started sassing him as soon as she could gargle
he pretends he hates it but his daughter is lowkey funny asl
they go at it when they fight. bakugo’s learned to be a little more patient, but he still has a bit of a temper and it doesn’t mix well when his mini-me has the same explosive anger
is the kind of dad that says sorry by asking her what she wants for dinner
they totally talk mess about other heroes together. he ignores the fact that she admires deku as long as she keeps it to herself
emotional talks are...awkward, but he forces himself through it
she finds it embarrassing (yet oddly endearing) that he got kicked out of a PTA club meeting for threatening to light up some mom for saying the art program didn’t matter
his daughter absolutely won’t talk to him about potential love interests unless she wants them coming up missing
bakugo won’t admit to watching baby videos of his daughter when he sends her off to U.A. and no, he didn’t cry, he got dust in his eye
doesn’t bother her too much, but jumps for his phone when he hears her ringtone
kirishima says he getting soft, but that’s just his little princess

call it fate (or a christmas miracle) || katsuki bakugou.
Tumblr media
* pairing: bodyguard!katsuki bakugou x earthbending quirk!reader (gender neutral!)
* genre: bodyguard!au, fluff, some angst, fake dating, aNd thEre wAs OnE bEd
* words: 10.3k (help)
* warnings: swearing bc bakugou, too much backstory, idk what bodyguards even do, there’s a fight scene (in a similar lieu to the sports festival arc), hunter x hunter? no this is tsundere x tsundere, i want to hug bakugou, yes i imagine mr. tanaka to be the tanaka from kuroshitsuji, christmas is a very minor aspect of the story (but the title was too good to resist)
* original request from @apexqueenie: Hnnnnnnnnnnnngh can I get a Bodygaurd Bakuboi x bratty reader who don’t like to be watched like a hawk cuz she wants to do fun things pretty please? // and from anonymous:  if it's ok, can I request Bakugou with a reader who has a quirk like earth bending please? // and from @killkurzyackerman: ÒWÓ UR REQS ARE OPEN can u do a bakubabe with like lil sassy bad bitch vibe reader bc ive seen a lot of fics that sorta like softie or angel type and no offense theyre great but ya know sumthn diff this time please
* a/n: this is a very long fic, to say the least. i combined these three requests! though reader’s quirk doesn’t appear often, it conveys my thoughts on how bakugou would go about with that quirk. moreover, i hope this reader is badass? i realize that that characterization is quite hard for me. so, i hope you don’t see reader as super soft! i made them fight back against bakugou (literally, too) and kinda bratty hehe. i got to explore a lot of new things with this fic, so i hope they reach you well. this is a repost because it originally did not show up in the tags!
* synopsis: things had gotten boring with bakugou as your bodyguard. it was only until an interesting proposal by the man that things would change. well, maybe a little too much would change...
you, to be quite simple and honest, were getting tired of katsuki bakugou. he'd been your bodyguard for years (years! much longer than any other you'd hired!) and he was getting boring. dull. plain. any synonymous word would fit. he was boring like a 24 hour session of watching paint dry, monotone like a professor’s droning that never failed to put you to sleep. (perhaps he was even more spiritless than professor sato at the academy. he caught you sleeping no less than thirteen times in his class. the number didn’t even account for the times he didn’t catch you.)
to the untrained eye, katsuki bakugou is vibrant. he's aggressive, unruly, and ruggedly charming (somehow). he's a wonder in a suit-and-tie and the epitome of an oxymoron with his harsh words, rough hands, and crisp suit. it was that very reason you’d hired him; his personality excited you. it seemed unpredictable and it was a challenge.
like all other challenges, bakugou was not impossible. once the challenge was overcome, time flow was stagnant; you watched the ticking of a clock as the day passed by you. you’d gotten used to him and he’d gotten used to you. these days, he watched you like a hawk. you could never slip past those sharp eyes anymore, no matter what you did. he was not fazed by any of your antics (ticked off mildly, sure, but he could live with it).
“leave me alooooone,” you whined for the fourth time in an hour as you exited a mall. bakugou's hands were full of shopping bags filled with everything from clothing to the latest technological invention. you weren’t sure how he was supposed to protect you in that condition. though, to be candid - in the first place, you didn’t need protection. you attended a private institution designed to maximize the use of your quirk as a child and graduated with absolutely flying colors. on top, you’d taken various martial arts outside of school. you didn’t know why your parents were still concerned about your wellbeing. you handled it fine. around 99.9% of the time, you could easily beat your bodyguard in a fair fight. it was a regular practice for you; so common that there was a reward if a bodyguard could last longer than six months working for you. not that any of them liked to be called bodyguards.
“sweetheart, i would if i could,” bakugou gritted through his teeth. “pay’s too good to- goddamn, what did you even buy?” he’d stopped behind you to adjust his grip on one of the bags.
you hummed pleasantly, continuing at your same, leisurely pace. his question was a rhetoric; he watched you buy everything with your black credit card. you watched as a car pulled up in front of you.
“there’s our ride,” you said, brushing bakugou’s shoulder as you stepped into the car. he grunted in response, loading the car with your purchases.
“fight me with your quirk when we get home,” you said during the ride. “you have, what, a boom boom quirk?”
he made a noise in his throat, voice hard. “my quirk’s explosions. nitroglycerin.”
“dangerous,” you said through a smile. he’d never used his quirk around you, but you were already starting to see possibilities of strategies you could use.
“so says the master earthbender,” he retorted sarcastically.
you clicked your tongue. “we’ll see who wins in the fight, explodo-boy.”
“finally brave enough to challenge me, eh?"
“i was always this brave.”
Tumblr media
“oh, give it up already, bakugou!” you directed another wall of rocky terrain toward bakugou, who blew up the land and sent rocks flying. his stance was hunched slightly, forehead matted with sweat. the sleeves of his white shirt were rolled up to his elbows, coat long abandoned on the rugged terrain.
“tired already?” he snarled. he put his hands together, preparing for a bigger explosion. you didn’t let him have this opportunity, slinging a large rock to absorb the impact of the explosion. he dodged swiftly, to your disappointment, but his attack seemed to be subdued.
you used his delayed reaction time to try to trap him with terrain under his feet, but he was somehow a step ahead of you. you heard a popping noise; bakugou was propelled through the air, your rocks blasted already and a cloud of dust forming. you cussed under your breath, already moving yourself away from his estimated landing spot that was too close to you.
he sent crackling explosions to the bottoms of your feet, but you easily dodged them. you created a temporary platform of elevated ground to protect yourself from the small explosions, jumping off it and rolling away. he was already aiming a larger blast toward you, presumably expecting your escape route. you figured it’d be a directed blast to pierce through a wall. you knew that the explosion would be unavoidable. to counter, you created a line of walls resembling dominos. they acted as stairsteps; you quickly ran up to the highest you could conjure in the short time you had before bakugou hit them. you grabbed the closest piece of rock that you could and leapt as bakugou’s blast made contact with your steps, chucking the rock at him and aiming to kick him when you landed. you knew he had no power to counter, being unable to react quickly due to the powerful nature of the blast he’d conjured.
you were about to win when the door to the training facility opened. you froze, literally, in midair and frowned, turning to look at the intruder.
“fighting, young-?” one of the butlers, tanaka, said. he was an elderly man with a gentle voice, but his eyes always seemed to glint with a clandestine humour in it.
“you can call me by my first name. please put me down, tanaka,” you said, no malice in your voice. he nodded, and you softly landed on your feet next to bakugou. you’d known tanaka for far too long for him to use honorifics with you. he’d practically raised you as a child.
“you haven’t fought in a while,” tanaka commented. he conjured a water bottle (you never knew how he had the right things for the right occasions) and walked toward you.
you made a noise of acknowledgement. “and it seems i was just about to win.”
he smiled tenderly. “i’m sure.” he handed you the water bottle, which upon further inspection, you saw was ice cold.
“thank you,” you said, gingerly accepting the beverage. the water flowed soothingly down your throat, easing the aching that had formed due to all the dust you’d kicked up in the fight.
“mr. bakugou?” tanaka asked, offering another water bottle (seriously, where did he get that?).
“thanks,” bakugou took the bottle. he drank feverishly, quickly finishing the bottle in what must’ve been two seconds flat. so undignified.
“y/n, you have an appointment in 15 minutes with-” tanaka said as you capped your water bottle.
“oh, yeah,” you said, waving off the matter. “i got it.”
you brushed off the dust on your clothes and started toward the exit. bakugou was quick to follow you, nodding politely to tanaka.
Tumblr media
bakugou stood outside the door during the meeting you had with your father. you were not a minute too late or too early when you stepped into your father’s office, freshened up and dressed in clean attire, the dusty clothing from your fight with bakugou long discarded. the smell of leather and mint enveloped you, reminding you of the days you’d play in your father’s office in your youth. the room was always dim, the light on your father’s desk being the brightest object in the vicinity when the curtains were pulled down. when you were younger, you liked to pretend the room was made of chocolate, as the color was so dominant on the interior. your father was not pleased to find five-year-old you trying to bite the corner of his desk, to say the least.
the sight of his office was ever-so familiar to you, and once held a feeling of endearment in your heart. that was then; now, you only ever entered the room for a business-related matter. your face was blank, lips held in a thin line -  you anticipated the topic of the meeting since your father first scheduled it a week ago. it, quite frankly, was inevitable; you could be neither opposed nor favorably disposed to it.
“i’ve found a compatible match for you, y/n.” your father sat at his desk, eyes intensely trained on you. “they’re from a well-off family with a strong quirk.”
compatible. it didn’t mean they got along with you or would be a good partner; no, it meant that they matched the superficial criteria set by your family.
“yes, father,” you said indifferently. he nodded, as if already expecting the answer.
“you’ll meet them soon. we’re arranging the date,” he folded his hands on the desk. “tanaka will alert you of it when it’s finalized. that is all.”
you nodded, taking your cue to leave. giving the room one last glance, you started to push the door open, then paused. door halfway open, allowing outside light to stream into the dark room, you looked back at your father. it was now or never to ask, you guessed.
“father… we wouldn’t happen to be having a family gathering anytime soon, would we? for new years or anything...” you hadn’t had any in the recent years, but you’d figured you’d ask. the scent of homemade food and the comforting chatter of the gatherings always made your heart swell.
he grunted, not looking up from the papers he shuffled around in his hands. “no.”
“ah. okay,” you said, sighing quietly. you knew better than to get your hopes up for such things. you turned back to the light, where bakugou was awaiting you, and shut the door behind you with a thud.
you walked in silence.
“so, no plans for the holidays?” bakugou asked bluntly.
“eavesdropping, i see,” you deadpanned.
“shouldn’t’ve had the conversation in front of the whole damn world.”
you rolled your eyes. “what about it?” you asked. “my lack of plans, i mean.”
“well-” he coughed awkwardly into his sleeve, averting his eyes. “that old hag- my, uh, mom, somehow got under the impression that i’m no longer… single. probably because of my profession - she thinks it’s ridden with scandals like a damn drama - but, uh… she’s expecting me to bring… company home for our christmas dinner…. and i can’t ask any of my friends, ‘cause she knows them… i wouldn’t damn ask you if i had no other option…”
“thanks,” you interjected. you held your tongue from making a comment about how little friends he probably had. “anyway, why don’t you tell her no?”
he slouched. “have you met her?” he grumbled. “the hag won’t listen to me. trust me, i would’ve, but… you can’t refuse her, once her mind is set on something… she’s too stubborn for her damn good.”
“like you,” you remarked, earning a small shove from the man.
“pl-” he choked, “pl - ah, fuck - please can you go to the dinner with me? it’s just for a night and morning, i need you to fake being my date. i can tell her we broke up later or whatever, i just really need…”
your lip curled. a desperate bakugou was a rare sight, and you wanted to relish in it for as long as you could. you feigned further consideration.
“but there’s so much i would rather be doing…” you whined. it was a lie. all you wanted was some variation in your life; a dinner didn't sound too bad. perhaps there was a dark secret within the bakugou family you could exploit.
“like what, wasting money?” bakugou muttered bitterly under his breath. you shot him a dirty look.
“fine, please?” he asked again. “there’ll be some damn good food… and, uh…” you tapped your foot with false impatience.
he cussed under his breath. “i’ll do whatever you want, damnit, just go with me! please!”
you cocked an eyebrow. “whatever i want?”
“yes, for a day,” he groused. “only a day.”
“alright!” you pumped your fist up. your father’s business training came in handy sometimes. “when’s the dinner?”
“this weekend,” bakugou said. “we also need to, uh, figure out how to act more… coupley.”
“...right,” you said. business class had not prepared you for that. “how the fuck do we do that?”
Tumblr media
as it turned out, you two were not the best pair to fake a relationship. neither of you had actually been in a relationship prior to this. you didn’t really have time to date on top of your studies and such; you didn’t need to, anyway, because all of the people who were romantically interested in you bored you. their personality traits either consisted of rich or doormat. as for bakugou - well, he was bakugou. you couldn’t see anyone wanting to date that brute.
“i’ll pay,” you said upon entering a cafe. it was a big cafe, nestled in the midst of an even bigger mall. your tone was firm; there’d be no way bakugou would be paying. you looked up at the menu and said to him, “the usual?”
he was silent for a moment, and you almost thought he hadn’t heard you. he cleared his throat. “uh, yeah, sure. the usual.” weird.
you ordered yourself a drink and bakugou his usual order, a decaf iced caramel macchiato with light ice. he looked at you with a strange emotion on his face when you handed him his drink.you practically shoved it in his hands while he was too starstruck about god-knows-what.
the two of you settled at a booth (“table,” bakugou had argued. you eventually won the debate).
“so… trivia about each other, right?” you asked. “i guess we’ve got to get to know each other more.” he nodded. “well, first, you need to stop being so quiet. right now, you’re not my bodyguard or anything. we’re, uh…. dating. we’re partners. datemates. lovers.”
he choked on his drink at the word “lovers.” he sputtered, then gained composure. “yeah.”
“okay, i need to you to be more casual.”
“tch, who said i’m not casual right now?!” there it was; this was the bakugou you’d known when you first met him. he was awkward and amateur-ish, stumbling on his words and failing miserably at being polite. it was a fond memory. overtime, he’d obviously polished himself up (but only in the presence of you and your family).
“that’s more like it,” you said.
“tch.” he sipped his coffee, unrelenting to admit that you’d won.
“well, let’s cover basic facts. your birthday is april 20 and you like spicy food.”
he coughed again, setting his drink down. “yeah.”
“are you okay? d’you need water, or something? are the lights in here too bright?”
he shook his head, eyes still dazed with a certain unclarity. “‘m fine, idiot.”
you weren’t convinced. “...whatever you say.”
he took another sip, closing his eyes then continuing as normal. normal, in the standards of bakugou, of course. “i-i think i know damn well enough about you. don’t need to prove shit,” he grumbled the last bit.
“a little bit too well,” you muttered saltily. “well, this is a learning experience for me, take it or leave it. we need to get along at the dinner, don’t we?” you drummed your fingers on the table, eyes darting around at the cafe. the decor was pretty.
he made a grievance under his breath, but nodded. “there’s my dad and my mom - the old hag - and me. i’m an only child.” figures. he continued, “they both work in fashion… yeah… my dad’s more quiet than my mom, she’s loud… apparently we’re a lot alike - don’t comment - but yeah, she’s my mom. they live in shizuoka, and it’ll be just them at the dinner. you’ll need to stay overnight...”
“seems… intimate,” you commented offhandedly.
he whistled. “you think?”
the gears in your head turned as you stared into the space over bakugou's shoulder at a large poster of some featured drink. it was all small talk to you, but you saw this meeting for what it was. an opportunity. it was your break from the uniform days plaguing you for the past week's - he wouldn’t need to watch over you, now your fake lover. lovers were equal.
love - what was love? you didn’t know, but it didn’t matter. feigned or not, it was different. couples were moody, from what you could gather. one day they’d be hanging off each other’s limbs, and the next, they were bickering their heads off. it sounded fun, to be a couple with bakugou rather than his employer. you could say goodbye to normalcy and tedium.
you felt your lips turn into a smile as a plan developed in your mind, tapping the table at an increasingly faster tempo. who cared about the dinner? you were a fake couple! you could break away from the norm and find the things that made bakugou tick. you could gain a one-up over him. you could pick his personality apart piece by piece until it broke the monotony of daily life. you watched bakugou’s expression grow puzzled and frustrated. you pretended to be deep in thought, aware that bakugou was opening his mouth to make a snarky comment presumably about how the smile on your face was getting unnerving to him.
you didn’t let him speak, instead cupping your face in your hands and leaning in towards him. “how do you think we should become more intimate, kat-su-ki?”
Tumblr media
you think you got soft over the years. when you first met bakugou, he was a rough little thing. being the same age as you, he was far less qualified compared to the other candidates to be your bodyguard. he looked out of place in his suit identical to everyone else. call it fate, or what you will, beckoning you towards him. when you first met him, you could’ve never imagined how far into the future you’d be stuck with the boy. all of the bodyguards you’d hired prior to bakugou’s appearance in your life didn’t last long. it wasn’t their fault; no, no, they were very competent. extremely competent - to the point it was boring, scrutinized under their meticulous gaze. you could do absolutely nothing under their watch, and where was the fun in that?
so, long story short, you hired bakugou for his incompetence. you’d low expectations for how long he’d last. you were surprised he could even put on a tie properly. from the way his hair spiked in every which way (“undignified!” your father had complained to you) and how his feet shuffled against the nice, newly polished cherry wood floors (“the scuff marks…”), bakugou was far from the epitome of a bodyguard. he couldn’t sit still and constantly made weird crackling noises (which you later learned were small explosions, not the concerningly incessant crack of his knuckles). the cherry on top to the disaster pie called bakugou, however, was his speech. he was polite, at face value, but also incredibly rough at face value. if you transcribed his words down, they’d be all standard formalities. it was the quirky way in which he presented his words; gritted out like somehow had forced him into this job. actually, scratch that, it was like this job was the be-all or end-all of his life. he was like an extremely tsundere shounen protagonist. he needed to win (“win what?” your father had laughed in disbelief) and be the very best. you'd… appreciate the sentiment more if you were his mentor in becoming a pokemon trainer.
of all the things bakugou was at the time, he was not a stoic old man nor a cold, indifferent boy who looked down on you snottily; he got the job. much to your father’s chagrin, of course. you’re pretty sure he had a backup bodyguard during the first month or so of bakugou’s employment, in case bakugou dropped out mysteriously for any reason.
surprisingly, bakugou was competent, but not infuriatingly so. he had snark, and under any other employer he would’ve been fired in the first week. he did his job, and that was all. it was fun to tick him off, too, and so easy. it was - dare you say it? - cute. you wanted to watch him fall apart and leave, as so many others had. you waited for the day he’d get used to you or vice versa, when you’d wake up with nothing to look forward to. in the end, no one ever stayed with you. you could usually figure that out within the first week of a bodyguard’s services.
these days, you started feeling that way. bakugou was just becoming everyone else you’d ever hired. he was becoming everyone else. for some reason, though, you still clasped onto the thread of hope that maybe he was different, and that led you down a series of events trying to convince yourself he was different.
at the same time, you told yourself he was like everyone else. did you want him to stay or not? you didn’t know anymore. maybe fate would spin something good out of this, or maybe he would. you didn’t want it in your hands anymore.
Tumblr media
being flirty was definitely not the best route of plan, but man, it was efficient. what better way to fake being a couple than organically develop that relationship? that was your bullshit reasoning to the logical part of yourself (when it was obviously far from the truth).
yeah, it was definitely not the best plan. you bored of it quite quickly, but couldn’t shake off the lasting feeling of fluttering in your stomach. you supposed it was because it was the most reaction you’d gotten from bakugou in months. you’d never seen him so disgruntled.
he was very, very blushy. you didn’t know how you hadn’t learned of it earlier. his cheeks were dusted strawberry red, matching the hue on the tips of his ears. ah, tsundere bakugou had returned for a short period of time. you wished you could've taken a picture of him.
you tapped the tip of his nose and he hissed at you, cheeks darkening a shade.
“a boop?” he scoffed indignantly in disbelief. “who calls it that? a five year old?” but you could tell that he really enjoyed it on the inside.
“what- what are you playing at, dumbass?” he swatted your hand when you tried to boop him again.
“c’mon, couples need to do coupley things, katsuki,” you cooed. “like overly affectionate pda~”
you didn’t know someone could get so red.
“since when did you call me by my first name?” he grumbled, unable to form any other type of response.
“since we started ‘dating,’” you teased back, realizing that watching bakugou become more and more uncomposed was more fun than you’d expected. he'd never become so open around you; after all, you'd had a strictly professional relationship prior, so bakugou never expressed any hint of a personality other than his behavior when he was first hired. it was a good change, in your eyes.
then, as you did of most things, you bored of it. sure, flustering bakugou was fun because he was so outwardly tsundere, but your attention span was short. he was already starting to recollect himself in record time, face cooling from a startling scarlet to pink and remarks becoming increasingly cohesive.
you're not even sure if he was aware of your gaze resting upon him as you half-assed responses and watched the gears in his head furiously turn. when he got real worked up, he pouted when speaking and occasionally slurred words together. his eyes tended to veer away when he thought of a response and he always got fidgety.
eventually, you stopped teasing him. by this time, the ice in his drink had already melted and you were dangerously close to kissing him on the cheek (it was an impulse thing! you were not catching feelings!).
if there was one thing you learned, it was this: bakugou was truly a sight in his emotional state, though you could argue his unassuming state was equally, if not more breathtaking.
Tumblr media
you noticed it as morning light illuminated him through the window of your room, hitting the silky fabric of your bedsheets around him. he was reading some book, dressed in comfortable attire that felt oddly domestic. maybe it'd be the most casual you'd ever see bakugou.
the thought struck a chord in you, making you wonder what'd happen after the dinner. it'd be awkward, for sure. it dawned on you that these moments with katsuki would vanish and things would go back to normal. they'd disappear into thin air, like nothing had ever happened. you weren't well educated in horology, but you were pretty sure that the time you'd spent with him would vanish as well, not to be spoken of or referenced ever again. time would keep trudging forward and you'd only be able to stare back as it disappeared on the horizon line.
you wanted to grasp the time that flooded your hands, encase the moment in glass and hold it in your palm forever.
"oi, idiot, what are you staring at?" and maybe it was the first time you truly heard bakugou's voice. it was rough on the edges with a soft core, you realized. maybe, after these couple of days, bakugou had started to care for you.
"nothing, stupid," you mumbled, returning your attention to your phone, but you couldn't shake off the newfound feeling that holed up in your heart. bakugou didn't care about you, you told yourself. you had a strictly professional relationship with him, and that was only broken for the time being because he needed a favour.
right. this was all for a favor.
nights spent testing each other on the most miniscule of facts and afternoons spent telling each other stories about each other - it was all nothing. it wasn't a big deal, you repeated to yourself.
still, you couldn't help but to look back up at bakugou and let your imagination run. he wore a black shirt and sweatpants, a complete 180 turn from the typical three piece suit he normally wore. maybe this is what he'd look like in the mornings if you were a proper couple, not client and bodyguard - maybe in another universe. you could imagine his bedhead, hair all messy and eyes still worn with sleep, vastly different from the professional persona he had around you.  you'd wake up inhaling the scent of caramel and feeling his warmth surround you, feeling secure merely in his embrace. it'd be him and you in your own little bubble, unperturbed by the entire world.
wait, caramel? you wondered. where did that come from?
"you're staring again, dumbass," bakugou grunted, not looking up from his book.
"zoned out on the blandest thing i saw, sorry," you replied.
you sat in silence like that for a while. you weren't not exactly sure how it was bonding time for the dinner (were you sharing telepathic waves?), but it was comfortable like a fluffy comforter on a frigid winter day. it felt secure, like a home you never had in your own bedroom. every now and then there was the sound of a page turning from bakugou and a tap on your phone from you, and things never felt so normal. it was too short an eternity for you; before you knew it, you had some event to attend to for your father, solely there for the image of his company.
you didn't see the bittersweet look on bakugou's face as he watched you leave, or how he hadn't even finished a chapter of his book during the hours he'd sat with you. as his eyes followed your disappearing silhouette, bakugou wondered if he'd ever be able to see you like that again.
Tumblr media
a foreign giddy feeling filled your chest as you got ready for the dinner with bakugou’s parents. you’d brought a bag for light travel packed with essentials (pyjamas, toothbrushes, and things like that), having planned ahead. you were typically indifferent to gatherings of any kind, having attended so many for your father. besides, this was a favor for bakugou. you weren’t sure why you were being so indecisive choosing an outfit for the dinner, or why your heart felt light as a feather, fluttering about in your rib cage boundless. this was no big deal, you told yourself. it’d only be bakugou and his parents; you’d spoken at gatherings of far more people with less nerves. you penned it down to only being excited for the food which was so coveted by bakugou. his mother, mitsuki, was apparently an outstanding cook (bakugou was apparently good as well), and you had to admit, you missed the heartening scent of homemade dishes. her specialty was spicy curry - your mouth watered at the thought.
yes, you reassured yourself as you walked out of the door and met the fresh, winter air outside, you were only in it for the food. you had an abnormally fast heart rate and a spring to your step (as noted by bakugou) solely for the food.
shizuoka prefecture was two hours away from your hometown, tokyo, and you forced bakugou to drive. the trip didn’t really feel like two hours, anyway, in your opinion. according to bakugou, that was only because you were sleeping the majority of the time and he was stuck with the dull task of driving and only the low hum of the radio to entertain him.
“well, this is it,” you said to bakugou, approaching his parents’ home, bag in hand. it looked quite elegant on the outside, snow thinly blanketing the well-kept greenery in the front. you turned to look at him. his suit looked nicer than usual, on full display because he refused to wear a coat despite the frigid air biting at any bit of bare skin unsheathed on your body. (“just the perks of having a great quirk like mine,” he’d said. you punched his shoulder.) you huddled closer into the warm padding of your coat, watching your white breath dissipate in the air.
“it is,” he belatedly said. his face was atypically solemn, eyes downcast and seemingly lost in thought. you didn’t comment on it. something about the nippy winter air numbed the atmosphere, as if all warmth had subsided only to your coat.
“do i look alright?” you asked him, trying to wipe away any last bits of drool you might’ve had on the corner of your mouth.
“yeah. you look… really nice,” he commented quietly. you didn’t mention that your bulky coat was covering the entirety of your attire. a heavy silence fell over the two of you.
anyway, the mood was quickly relieved by the presence of mitsuki bakugou, who greeted the pair of you at the door with her husband, masaru. bakugou really was a spitting image of his mother, sharing the same spiked blond hair and annoyingly clear skin with her. they also had similarly loud personalities, you observed later on. they’d often bicker with no real malicious intent. they were both much different compared to bakugou’s father, masaru, who was a gentle, soft-spoken man with brown hair and glasses.
mitsuki met you with enthusiasm, eagerly asking you questions about yourself and your relationship with bakugou. it was strange to see bakugou so quiet; though, at some points in the conversation, he looked like he was going to be sick. you didn’t have time to ask him about it, occupied by his mother’s unending but well-meaning questions. you’d expected to fib for most of them, but the truth easily slipped from your tongue. even compliments about him were half-truths.
"when we first met, he was like a fish out of water!" you recounted to mitsuki. "he stumbled on his words and my father didn't approve of him as my bodyguard. but, i pushed through, and here we are! right, katsuki?"
"r-right," he coughed, unable to look you in the eye and fidgeting nervously.
"it amazed me, too," mitsuki admitted. "i'd never seen our katsuki looking so polished before - it used to be a trouble getting him to even wake up at a decent time." she smiled at you. "you've brought a blessing on him."
bakugou cleared his throat. "don't talk about me like i'm not here," he grumbled.
"oh, katsuki," mitsuki cooed, pinching bakugou's cheek. "masaru, let's prepare dinner." she looked at you and bakugou. "the two of you don't need to worry about a thing - oh, you still have your bags! i’ll put them in katsuki’s room."
upon the absence of bakugou’s parents, the two of you sat beside each other without a word.
“are you… feeling alright?” you asked suddenly, breaking the silence. “you don’t look so well.”
“fine,” he grunted. “i’m fine.”
“are you sure?” you teased in an attempt to lighten the mood. “not nervous meeting the parents?”
he cracked a small smile, but his fingers still nudged each other in his lap. you touched his shoulder, first in an attempt to comfort him, but soon realized that he was very toasty. you scooted towards him; he stared at you with an surprised, indecipherable expression. you linked his arm with yours and leaned into him, inhaling his cologne and bathing in his warmth.
“what?” you mumbled. “you’re warm.” you intertwined his fingers with yours. “warm,” you happily cooed, eyes slipping shut.
“jesus christ,” bakugou hissed. “you’re freezing. is it humanly possible for your hands to be this cold?” his other hand enveloped your hand (still being held by his), rubbing his thumb soothingly on the heel of your palm. a bubble of warmth fizzed inside you, heart effervescing like a carbonated beverage. he held you long after your hand had passed room temperature, and you sensed that maybe the fuzzy feeling jittering about you wasn’t his quirk. it was like some sort of low fire, crackling deep within you. you hadn’t much time to dwell on the thought when your eyes jolted open, smelling really, really good food wafting from somewhere near.
“look at the lovebugs,” you heard mitsuki murmur, standing in the doorway connecting the kitchen to the living room leaning on her husband. “dinner’s ready,” she softly said upon noticing your eyes on her.
your eyes widened, looking down at the hand entwined in yours, and you look at the man next to you. bakugou was sound asleep, tranquil slumber having sheathed itself around him. his head leaned against the top of the couch, mouth slightly agape and chest falling rhythmically.
“hey,” you whispered. reluctant to let go of his hand, you used your opposite hand to tap his shoulder lightly. “hey, sleepyhead.”
bakugou groaned, eyes still closed and body unmoving. “five… more… minutes…”
“sure,” you said easier than you expected. you immediately let go of the man’s hand (he reached out toward you blindly at this) and stood up. “i’ll just eat all of that food you've been looking forward to by myself…” mitsuki and masaru looked at you fondly.
“nice try, dumbass,” he said gruffly, standing up and putting a hand on your shoulder. his eyes were lidded with torpor and his voice was an octave deeper. it sent shivers down your spine - you hadn’t ever heard his voice like that - and a part of you wanted to hear it again. sadly, the effects of sleep passed him quite quickly; by the time he’d said “let’s eat, dumbass,” and made his way to the dining room, his voice was back to normal.
dinner consisted of scrumptious-looking (and tasting!) chicken katsu, curry, and even more conversation. your mouth watered as you spooned yourself the perfect ratio of rice, curry, and chicken in one bite. you politely raved to bakugou’s mother about her heavenly cooking, and bakugou never looked so proud or embarrassed in his life. masaru discussed fashion with you, mitsuki occasionally chiming in and offering to show you pictures of young bakugou modelling. you courteously declined for the fear of bakugou’s face getting any redder than it was already.
“y’know, katsuki really wanted to be a pro-hero when he was younger,” mitsuki reminisced. “he even was accepted at that really prestigious hero school, ua.”
you looked at bakugou with questioning eyes, and he shook his head dismissively, hesitant to the topic. you wondered what he was doing here, as your bodyguard, rather than the hero he aspired to be. it wasn’t like he’d be unable to become a sidekick once out of ua, so what happened…?
at the end, you seemed to have gotten the approval of mitsuki and masaru. your heart twisted in pain realizing who you were and why you were here; this was asked of you, nothing real. you pushed the thought away, returning to the dining room after washing your hands.
“oh, my!” mitsuki exclaimed as you entered the dining room. “it’s getting late.” she turned to you. “we don’t have a guest bedroom, so you’ll have to share a room with katsuki, if that’s alright?”
you looked to bakugou, who seemed lost in his own thoughts. “sure, i don’t mind,” you replied.
“i’m sure you’d love to see bakugou’s childhood room.” this brought bakugou abruptly to his senses; his eyes rounded, face looking like a deer caught in headlights.
a smile tweaked your lips. “i’d love to.”
Tumblr media
you didn’t know what you were expecting when mitsuki opened the door to bakugou’s room. certainly, though, you were not expecting this. his room was decorated from head to toe with all might merchandise, carefully collected through the years. it could’ve been worse, you admitted to yourself, but bakugou’s interest in all might surprised you. the level of admiration bakugou had for the former symbol of peace was clear, plastered on the wall posters and figurines which dotted his bookshelves.
“of course,” misuki said, “this is all really from his middle school days. he had to move to a dormitory system in high school, and i’m afraid he didn’t take much along with him…”
you tilted your head at bakugou, who’d taken particular interest in the ground with his hand sheepishly on the back of his neck.
“it’s cute,” you reassured him gently.
“though katsuki’s bed is pretty big, we could pull out a futon if you’d like…”
“it’s alright.” shit. why did you say that? noting the bewilderment on bakugou’s face, you added, “we are dating and all…” you mentally smacked yourself for assuming bakugou would be comfortable sleeping in the same bed as you. “yeah,” bakugou said, much to your shock.
“that settles it!” mitsuki smiled. she winked. “don’t stay up too late.”
after mitsuki and masaru bade you goodnight and closed the door behind them, you were left alone with bakugou.
“hey, is that a picture of you?” after looking around the room, your eyes fell on a framed photo sitting on bakugou’s dresser. you reached for it, recognizing a familiar spiky haired blonde boy proudly holding a trophy.
“wait-” the frame was already held in your hands.
“aw, you were such a cute kid.” you teased, “can’t say the same about now.”
he huffed, ears reddening. “there’s a photo album on the bookshelf,” he mumbled, pointing to a thick looking book on his bookshelf. you eagerly plucked it from the shelf, holding it like a precious treasure in your two hands. he shoved his hands into his pockets and rested his chin on your shoulder, watching you open the photo album.
the first photo was a baby photo, of course, and you could feel that it was taking every part of bakugou not to rip the book from your hands and scorch it all out of embarrassment. the first few pages were those of baby bakugou, eating food with his hands or playing with his parents. as the book progressed, you watched him develop a quirk (blowing up a vase) and become interested in pro-heroes (clutching an all might doll to his chest with a big smile on his face). the photos became more scarce as bakugou grew, but he seemed to grow happier. paging through photos of him in high school, the man’s gaze seemed to grow softer and fonder. his high school pictures consisted of him either standing in front of the famous ua or making an indifferent face with a group of his friends, who looked vaguely familiar from somewhere. upon further inspection, it dawned on you. you could recognize them all - they were young versions of the pro-heroes red riot, pinky, chargebolt, and cellophane. they regularly appeared on your newsfeed for one heroic deed or another, so it came no surprise to you that they attended the famed ua high.
as for bakugou, though? you couldn’t understand what he was doing there, or rather, here. if he graduated ua, he’d be right on track to become a pro-hero, not a bodyguard.
bakugou already sensed your revelation, shutting the book and putting it down. sitting on the bed, he squeezed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“i know what you’re thinking,” he stated. he took a shaky breath. “i’m- i’m not ready to talk about it.”
“okay,” you replied. “i think… we should get some sleep. you have to drive back tomorrow.”
he snorted. “me?”
you nodded like it was a given.
Tumblr media
the night was long, dragging in the same manner that you’d trudge through deep snow with weights on your ankles. it wasn’t that bakugou’s old bed was uncomfortable; it was surprisingly plush. you laid awake, though, as the clock ticked by and the house went silent. you felt as stiff as a wooden board, staring at the dark ceiling and thinking about everything and nothing.
your thoughts first strayed to bakugou’s childhood, and how he’d seemed the poster child for an aspiring pro-hero. how could he have given that up? he had friends, dreams, and a path open to his aspirations. yet somehow his life had deviated into this, pretending to date you for his parents’ sake.
it felt strange to lay in his bed in his parents’ house and not to really call him yours. not that you wanted to call him yours outside of this scenario. definitely not. it was just the guilt gnawing at you that impaired your proper judgement - your conscience felt pity. you pulled off a large lie to bakugou’s parents that you were dating when in reality, you’d never even gone on a proper date with the man; for all you knew, he could be a terrible person. he could have terrible dating manners and leave to the bathroom when the check comes in an attempt to force his date to pay. it was hard to imagine, but hey, you reasoned to yourself, it was a possibility.
“can’t sleep either?” bakugou’s deep voice startled you. you thought he’d fallen asleep hours ago.
“yeah,” you snorted. “and here i thought you were in the habit of always sleeping early,” you referenced his mother’s stories of him in middle and high school. you turned on your side to face the man.
“kinda hard with five different all mights staring at me,” he joked, gesturing to his plethora of all might-themed decorations.
you imitated all might’s larger than life voice. “i am here! … to watch you sleep!”
bakugou first snickered, which then transitioned into a full-blown, unrestrained (yet somewhat hushed) laugh. you couldn’t help but laugh too, watching his features crinkle and gummy smile widen. your heart felt peculiar in your chest, but you couldn’t figure out the feeling. in the years you’d known him, you’d never seen him so relaxed or open. you knew you’d miss moments like this in the morning, when you’d drive back and the deal would be over. it sent a bittersweet pang to your heart - why couldn’t moments like these last forever?
Tumblr media
you woke up to find bakugou gone, leaving you alone in the bed with only a warm indentation next to you letting you know he’d just left. you rubbed your eyes groggily, sitting up and pushing the covers aside. you swung your legs over the edge of the bedside, standing up and making the bed once again. you padded out of the all might-furnished room to the kitchen, where you could hear quiet footsteps and the sizzling of a frying pan.
“someone’s finally awake,” bakugou’s husky voice remarked. he was standing at the stovetop, wearing an apron over his nightwear and frying eggs. sleep had worn his voice deeper; you swooned at the domestic sight before you. no, it wasn’t swooning, you told yourself. just… appreciation. you really wanted to make a comment on his muscles, bulging from his short-sleeved shirt.
“that looks really yummy,” you said, in no way whatsoever referencing his biceps and definitely referring to the egg in the pan.
“i’d like to pretend that was an innocent comment, but the direction your eyes are looking at beg to differ,” bakugou deadpanned. you looked away, flushed.
“so, whatcha making?” you said, plopping yourself on a chair.
“eggs, rice, natto, miso,” he said. “but nothing for you until you change and brush your teeth.”
you stuck your tongue out at him. “who are you, my mom?” you continued, “i used to hate natto when i was younger.”
“it’s good for you,” bakugou said, moving the egg onto a plate of steaming rice.
“you sound a lot like my mom,” you replied. “but i like natto now, just not too much of it.”
“i liked natto when i was younger,” bakugou said.
“really? all of my friends hated it. they complained about the smell.” you reminisced about your childhood days, when your biggest worry was whether you had homework or not.
“speaking of smell? your breath. go brush your teeth.”
“wh- i’m so far from you, there’s no way-”
“no hygiene, no food.”
“who even says that?” but you were already out of your chair and heading towards the bathroom.
Tumblr media
“oh, by the way,” bakugou said as you were halfway through emptying your plate with rice in your mouth, “what do you want?”
“wha?” you said, chewing the egg-natto-rice mixture in your mouth. “what?”
“the deal,” he said. “before my parents wake up.”
“the deal-?” you racked your mind for any deal you’d made in the recent days, as you weren’t much a gambler, then it hit you. the deal. in an attempt to convince you to pretend to be his date, he’d said he’d do whatever you wanted for a day in exchange. you hadn’t thought about it at all.
“um,” you said intelligently. what did you want? you wanted to spend more time with him, but there would be no way…
“take me ice skating.” he choked on his rice.
“what?”
“i really want to ice skate…” you lied. “i’ve never been.” another lie.
“you want to go ice skating with me?”
“pay for me.” you could’ve paid for yourself. “and, you have terrible dating skills. how are you supposed to get a real partner? consider this beneficial for yourself.”
he blinked, taken aback. “...okay,” he agreed, dumbfounded. you hoped he couldn’t see through you. “when?”
“today, duh.”
by the time you finished your plate, bakugou’s parents had woken up to bid the two of you farewell. hours later, you found yourself at an outdoor ice skating rink in tokyo.
Tumblr media
the rink was decorated festively; surrounding trees had been wrapped in golden lights and there was something in the atmosphere which bustled with cheer. those skating were either children or couples, laughing and skating together. you told yourself not to pay too much attention to them, but there was something about the way they looked so happy that made you yearn for the same.
you clumsily clomped toward the entrance of the rink itself, clad in four layers of warm clothing and worn rental skates. cold air nipped at your cheeks and your breath was a snowy white before your eyes. patting your cheeks in an attempt to half hype yourself up and half warm yourself up, you tensely stepped onto the frozen water. clunk. clunk.
“you look like an idiot,” bakugou said as you made your way onto the ice with slow clunks. he was surprisingly cocky about his skating prowess once he’d gotten his skates on, despite his lack of experience on the ice. he was unaffected by the chilly weather, wearing a thin jacket and denim jeans despite the vast majority of other skaters wearing winter coats.
“it’s cold,” you responded. slippery ice beneath your feet, you suddenly felt a great deal less confident in your ice skating abilities. it might as well have been your first time skating, in the eyes of bakugou. you took baby steps on the ice, both hands gripping the side rails while bakugou glided breezily past you.
“c’mon, idiot, loosen up~”
easy for him to say. “i’m- trying,” you gritted out, attempting to copy his fluid motions.
“hey, dumbass, take my hands.” bakugou stopped in front of you, both hands outstretched for you to hold. you looked at him warily, then accepted the offer, his hands replacing the railings.
“don’t hold them that hard,” bakugou said. “i’m not going to drop you. relax.”
you nodded, gulping as you released your death grip on his hands. starting to skate backwards (an incredible feat in your eyes), he slowly guided you along the edge of the rink. you spent most of the time staring at your own feet, trying to keep your balance and rhythm in time with bakugou’s. once you seemed to get the hang of it, he sped up ever so slightly, loosening his grip on your hands.
“just like that,” and his voice was much gentler than you’d ever heard it. you looked up to meet his soft gaze. your heart leapt and he quickly averted his eyes. “um,” he coughed awkwardly. “i think you’ve gotten the hang of it.”
“okay.” you started to let go of his hands, testing your balance skating without anything to hold onto. in small amounts at first, you start to let go, allowing your strides to become longer and longer. bakugou matched your pace beside you and eventually, the two of you fell into conversation. you’d both forgotten your own words about how this was for him to gain dating experience; it felt too real to be practice.
“the truth is, i was really, really close to becoming a pro-hero,” he confessed, “but i was injured in my third year. i had to take a break for a year or so, but by that time, i was too rusty for the job.”
“but-” you said, almost stumbling on the ice at the revelation, “didn’t you do all that training-?”
he shrugged. “it’s the reality of it,” he said dismissively, a momentary shadow crossing his face. he recomposed. “i’m over it now.”
you had the slight suspicion that his words didn’t ring quite true, but let go of it. still, you couldn’t help but think about all of his all might decor - he must have idolized the man, only to fail at his dream. his room was like a memento to everything he wanted yet couldn’t reach. “you wouldn’t have met me if you hadn’t become a bodyguard,” you said cheerily in an attempt to distract both him and yourself.
“true,” he smiled. then, almost to himself, he added, “i don’t regret that.”
the two of you skated a couple more laps around the rink. conversation faded and your feet became more and more sore after skating for so long. a chill had settled itself onto your bones as the sky tinted in anticipation of the evening to come.
“we should get going now,” bakugou said. “before it gets too cold.”
“yeah-” your phone buzzed in your pocket. “hang on, give me a second.”
it was tanaka, telling you that you had a date scheduled by your father in two hours. it took you a moment, it really did, to remember who you were and what your priorities truly lay.

you made it a point not to tell bakugou what the call was about on the way back. you told him it was about a business deal, and he pretended to buy it. the car ride was desolate, lacking all warmth despite the heater blasting. you felt guilty; why had you lied to bakugou? you and he both knew you were lying about the business deal. was it pity? why had you felt the need to protect him?
you could only amount it to the fact that maybe bakugou was becoming a friend. maybe bakugou was becoming someone you never wanted to hurt. your thoughts were the only thing you could hear over the buzz of the car’s heater. you looked to the sky with imploring eyes as if some cloud on the lavender-tinged atmosphere listened and could provide you an answer.
you weren’t sure if it was the clouds’ doing or some star hiding behind the sun’s light that washed a sense of solemness by the time you returned to meet tanaka at the gates. it was almost enough to make you forget the sad feeling you held whilst looking at bakugou one last time before stepping out of the car to greet your old butler. the feeling was unfathomable to you; in your daze on the ride back, there’d seemingly been no reason for such a feeling to linger in your heart. why had you felt so much guilt, so much sadness for this man you were supposed to be strictly on business relations with?
not that you’d done this, anyway. your business relationship with bakugou ended the minute you agreed to that favour he’d proposed, and was further broken when you ice skated together. you wondered if he felt the same as you, or if things would return to the way they had been after this date tonight. somewhere deep in you hoped it wouldn’t - hoped he wouldn’t forget it all. (“stay here,” you’d told him when you stepped out of the car. his stare was vacant; would he? you weren’t sure why you even asked.)
“tanaka,” you said stiffly. the air was frigid around you (when had the temperature dropped so suddenly?) and a breeze wrapped itself around your legs. an impulse told you to turn back, look at bakugou, and tell him the things you left unsaid - but you didn’t.
“y/n,” he nodded. it was like a wake-up call. this was who you were, truly. your father’s pawn, his company’s pawn. you were a face used for business and nothing more. you traded your feelings for your father’s wealth - that’s who you were.
yet it was the past two days that made you feel more like yourself than ever before. the time spent with bakugou, of all people, made you feel genuinely happy. he made your name feel more like yours than your father’s. it seemed it was he who could only coax this feeling out of you. you, certainly, couldn’t imagine it being anyone else. there was something unlike anything you’d experienced before which bakugou gave you. but you couldn’t let your father down, could you?
“y/n, we must go now,” tanaka urged.
you didn’t look back.
Tumblr media
bakugou watched you leave with an inscrutable expression. as soon as you vanished from his sight, he let out a deep sigh and bashed his head on the steering wheel, then rubbed the spot of contact. that would leave a mark.
he wished he could pretend he didn’t know what your sudden meeting was about. he couldn’t. what kind of bodyguard was unaware of his client’s schedule? you were going on a date, on account of your father’s absolutely superb matchmaking skills. he wanted to strangle the bastard.
god, he was an idiot to have gotten his hopes up about you. just like countless other things in his life, you were unattainable. he was constantly in pursuit of the impossible, it felt, yet none of his endeavours’ ends had quite felt like this. it started when he was a child with a newly developed quirk. constant words of praise fluttered around his ears, all applauding his strong quirk and natural intelligence. it continued when he entered school, winning academic and athletic awards for what everyone called his talents. (he remembered looking up the definition of “talent” in a dictionary in his elementary school’s library and being sorely disappointed. no one had seen the hours he’d dedicated to practicing and studying after school - all of that couldn’t amount to what everyone else had called natural talent.)
in doing so - winning all those competitions - he’d somehow earned the approval of all those around him. it was never something he’d wanted or aimed for, but it soon started to fit him like a custom-tailored outfit. somewhere along the way, he started to seek out the approval of others, flaunting his accomplishments to do so. however, as years went by, one thing became apparent: the tactics used on his peers and teachers would never gain his parents’ approval. he so yearned for a tad of his parents’ praise or satisfaction; even an “i’m proud of you, katsuki,” from them would’ve sent katsuki to the stars and back. he never was quite sure, as a youth, how to gain this prize, so to speak. and so, for the sake of his parents, he became stronger and stronger and thus began his journey to attain the first impossibility in his life.
high school, at once, came knocking on his door in the midst of this endless journey. with it came izuku midoriya, the boy katsuki had bullied in middle school. this time, though, it was izuku who was stronger; katsuki had so wanted to atone for all that he’d done to the boy, but it proved something impossible. on the physical level, izuku had already forgiven him and moved on. it wasn’t enough for katsuki, who’d really done nothing to deserve izuku’s kindness. so katsuki set off, trying to truly deserve the boy’s forgiveness and make up for everything he’d done. in katsuki’s mind, there would be nothing he could do that would balance out the weight of his actions to izuku. hence unraveled the second impossibility katsuki set up for himself.
the third impossibility found itself in katsuki’s third year at ua academy. he was working for his parents’ approval and atonement for izuku; this impossibility, though, would send everything crumbling down. impossibles, unlike any math equations covered during his schooling, could not be cancelled out the more brought into the equation. it was perhaps katsuki’s only salvation and lifeline, his passion to become a hero. fate snatched this very possibility from katsuki’s hand, snapping the lifeline and dangling it just out of his reach. all of it was cruel - the sympathetic words spoken from recovery girl’s lips and the weeks katsuki had to sit out of hero training. even worse was how katsuki watch his grade drop from one of the top in the class to only passable in general studies, no longer sharp enough to qualify for a pro-hero. by the time he healed, he was rendered unable to rejoin the hero course. his goal was thrown away easily, becoming another impossibility.
katsuki trained himself physically for a new job. an acquaintance had introduced him to being a bodyguard, and katsuki figured that was close enough to being a hero. not that he particularly enjoyed the notion of waiting on someone’s every beck and call. but through and through his countless impossibilities and misfortunes, he had to move forward. he was tired, so tired - hearing his parents’ disappointed voices on the phone and looking up to see a billboard of the newest top pro-hero, deku. when he foolishly and naively got his hopes up about you, the logical part in him knew it was doomed. he knew that as he stared at you, illuminated by a golden light in your bedroom, it was ill-fated. you were a miracle opening up a new life to him - but miracles weren’t real.
of all the impossibilities in his life, you were the most painful. why was he cursed in such a way? where had the happiness in his life gone, if not with you as you walked away from him? he stared at his suit cuff, suffocated in the stupid attire. he should never have taken this job.
a knock. another knock. three more rapid knocks, and he finally looked up to see your eager face looking at him from the passenger side window. he hastily unlocked the car door with a click.
“finally,” your exasperated voice said to him, tinged in a happy hue that he’s confused by.
“wh-where’s tanaka?” katsuki stuttered. “your date-”
“i did it, bakugou.” you beamed at him. “i refused. i said no.”
“wha-what? you refused what?”
“the date, duh!” you laughed. you grew quiet. “i realized something. i realized that all i want is you, and it’s… it’s about time i start taking control of my life.”
katsuki cracked a smile. a real one, not painful like so many others he’d faked before. “you’re a dumbass, you know that?” and it was endearment, bringing you close to his heart.
maybe fate had decided to bless him. maybe it was all the impossibilities in his life that had cancelled each other out to give him you.
“oh, and by the way,” you said, changing the topic. “i’ve been thinking a lot about it recently. we need to have a rematch for that sorry excuse of a fight we had the other day. i will have an undisputed victory over you.”
“you’re on, moron.”
it was definitely fate that brought katsuki to you.

Extra Part 1
Tumblr media
U.A. a school for students to learn how to become the best Pro-Hero. When young Y/n Midoriya returns from her traveling to be accepted through recommendation. What awaits her when she meet the explosive blonde Katsuki Bakugo
Words- 1136
Katsuki Bakugo x Midoriya!Reader, Izuku Midoriya x Cousin!Reader
Series Masterlist
It was a normal day in the homeroom of class 1-A, most of the students sat around to finish up work or just hang out. Deku was sitting next to Ida writing stuff down as Ida frantically explaining something that Deku really wasn’t focusing on. Some of the girls were sitting on the desk chatting along with some of the other guys there.
“Hey has anyone seen Mr. Aizawa he hasn’t shown up?” Oraraka asked the students and they all shook their heads.
“Even Todoroki isn’t here yet.” Hagakure added. The students questioned when class was gonna start when Kaminari and Mineta came busting into the classroom
“Guys you gotta come to the TDL. Some girl is fighting Todoroki and she is kicking his ass.” Kaminari exclaimed motioning for everyone to follow him and Mineta.
“You gotta come, she's totally badass and super hot.” Mineta drools over the girl.
“Gross Mineta.” Uraraka shudders at Mineta being a perv.
“Come on, let's goo.” Kaminari started ushering people out of the class
“Well she must have some skills to be able to keep up with Todoroki.” Ida pointed out as most people got followed them.
Ashido squeals, capping her hands “Ooo a girl, maybe she’s staying with us.” Deku nodded, grabbing his notebook
“I wonder what her quirk is to be able to stand up to Todoroki.” Surprising Kirishima was able to drag Bakugo
“Eh she’s just some extra.”
When the group made it to the Gamma Gym they saw Mr. Aizawa and All-Might watching the two students fight. Ice was beginning shot everywhere with fire as well as Todoroki tried keeping up with her as she danced around the room dodging each of Todoroki’s attacks.
“She has good reflexes Ribbit.” Asui pointed out as everyone watched in awe as she got punches and kicks on Todoroki before getting pushed back by some ice.
“Is her quirk reflex?” Jiro questioned.
The students watched her trying to figure out what her quirk was. Deku tried figuring out who this girl was but it was unclear to see her face with how much she was moving. Todoroki waved his right arm sending shards of ice towards the girl at hurtling speed that everyone knew they couldn’t dodge. The girl stood her ground not moving and held her hands up and the ice froze inches from her face. The ice was covered in a red haze along with her hands, making Todoroki and the rest of the student’s jaw drop.
“Holy shit!” One of the students yelled. She raised her hands and flung her hands towards Todoroki and the ice came towards him. He quickly melted the ice with his left side, she created a ball of energy and threw it towards Todoroki who is now going on the defensive. Todoroki flew back hitting one of the walls. Walking up to him, the red haze surrounding her hands and Todoroki had flames coming from his arms. Before either of them could attack again the haze and flames disappeared making them both look and see Mr. Aziawa using his quirk.
“The match is over for you both.” He called out blinking, ending his quirk. The students began talking now that the fight was over
“Did you see that.” Sero said.
“That was amazing.” Another said,
“Her quirk was so cool!” Uraraka said in awe. Deku watched as the girl walk over to Todoroki and shake his hand and they began talking to each other as they walked up to the rest of the group.
“Midoriya.” Mr. Aziawa called out making both the girl and Deku lookup, the girl fixed her hair and Deku say who it was.
“Y/n?” Deku called out making the girl look over to him and the rest of the students looked at them.
“Izuku?” You replied. You smiled rushing over to him, throwing your arms around him.
“Oh my god, how are you.” Deku smiled pulling away
“I’m good! Look at you, not that small kid anymore” You laughed
“Yeah, not quirkless anymore.” Deku added. A cough caused you both to turn to the other students to watch you two.
“Umm Deku how do you know her?” Uraraka asked, pointing at you two.
“Oh yeah,” Deku nodded “This is my cousin.”
“COUSIN!” They yelled,
“You never told us you had a cousin!” Ashido exclaimed.
“Well I mean I thought it wasn’t important.” Deku waved his hands frantically
“Her quirk is quite impressive.” Ida pointed out making you blush.
“Ignore her quirk. She’s hot!” Mineta yelled trying to get close to you but was pushed back by Jiro.
“Ignore him, That was awesome, why weren’t you at the entrance exam?” Uraraka questioned,
“Well my parents and I used to live in Europe before we moved here and I joined through recommendation.” You explained as everyone was watching in awe.
“Midoriya.” Mr. Aizawa walked over to the group making you all turn to him “Your quirk is very impressive but you are holding back.” He said, making your head bow down upset in yourself.
“You have great skills that will make you a great Pro.” All Might complimented you making you smile.
“Thank you, All Might, Mr. Aizawa” You bowed to them
“Y/n here will be part of your class, I hope you show her respect as she is now one of your classmates.” Mr. Aizawa said to the students who nodded then he dismissed you all.
“So UA guess your dream is coming true huh.” You nudged Deku who blushed
“Yeah, um this is two of my closest friends here, Tenya Ida and Ochaco Uraraka.” Deku pointed to the two who gave you a smile and wave
“Yeah I saw you guys on Tv during the Sports Festival. Your quirks are so awesome.” You said making Ida smile in pride and Uraraka blush.
“It’s so nice to meet you, I never knew Deku had a cousin.” Ida shook your hand.
You punch Deku in the arm “I guess I wasn’t that important to talk about huh.” You tease making him wave his arms and frantically explain that it wasn’t that.
“Eh, just some extra. You just have some borrowed power like Deku.” Bakugo mumbled, sending a glare at you and Deku.
You turned and looked at the blonde, “Katsuki Bakugo, I thought you were relevant,” You shrugged, “Guess we were both wrong.” Someone choked on their spit at the insult towards Bakugo
“I like her.” Kirishima chuckled
“WHAT DID YOU SAY I’LL KILL YOU.” Bakugo tried lunging towards you only to be pulled back by Kirishima.
“Ok how about we head back to the class.” Ida stepped between the two of you. Kirishima pulls Bakugo away and out of the gym and you look over at Deku and his friends.
“Great first day of UA right.” You smirk.

Uh I am not so sure if Ice actually helps Dabi's body to regulate the heat?? Because otherwise, the fight with Geten would have been the Uno reverse card situation you were joking about hehe! But they had an actual head to head fight there so I am not so sure...he should have hands down won the ice Vs fire fight within no time but he was still burning then??
He probably could’ve done that, but keep in mind that the ice never actually got to his body during that fight because he kept fighting it with his fire. It probably would’ve been the smart thing to do to just let the ice cool him down, but there are a couple of reasons why he might have not done so on purpose:
1) Geten can manipulate ice. It’s possible that letting the ice get to Dabi’s body would actually give Geten the upper hand as he would then have a good grip on Dabi. Sure, as Dabi said himself “ice melts” (educated king<3) so it wouldn’t be an automatic loss, but it would probably still be a risk to let Geten so close to him. Besides, if Geten froze Dabi in place, then his only way of escape would be to melt the ice, which would require him to heat up his body, which would be counterproductive.
2) Although anyone that has ever seen Dabi fight (or anyone that has just seen Dabi in general) knows that his body and quirk don’t exactly match very well. However, just because his body doesn’t have a high tolerance for heat/fire, doesn’t automatically mean that he has a tolerance for the cold. Even Endvr, who doesn’t have a parent with an ice quirk, isn’t completely immune to his own flames when they reach certain temperatures or when he uses them too much. And considering that Dabi’s flames are stronger than his, people probably just assume that his body can’t tolerate such intense flames (I mean, a normal person would’ve already burned long ago, so it’s not like he has no tolerance at all, just not enough).
Not to mention that you should not use ice on a burn. Cool water? Yes. Ice or ice-cold water? No! That could just damage your skin tissue even further (example one: Shouto). So under normal circumstances, ice shouldn’t help him at all and if it did, it should make people suspicious. And we all know that he didn’t exactly go around telling every villain who he really is. He wouldn’t want someone like Geten to find out his true identity, so showing him that he - someone with a fire quirk - has a tolerance for ice would probably raise a few questions.
3) Finally, let’s talk about Dabi’s mindset. This is something that @linkspooky already talked about in this absolutely god-tier meta, but to sum it up, Dabi’s whole existence is about proving himself and proving that he is special. He was born as this special kid and raised with the mindset that he is special, he is the one to become the Number One and surpass All Might because he is special. Until one day, this whole identity of being the special one got taken away from him, leaving him with nothing.
So now, he is trying to prove himself, to prove that he is special. If he can’t be a special hero, then he’ll be a special villain instead. It’s just him, he is the one that will change and destroy hero society - just him and no one else. He doesn’t open up to the League, doesn’t tell anyone who he really is because he doesn’t need anyone. Because he’s special. And he will prove that to the world and most importantly he will prove that to Endvr, the person that tried to take that away from him.
Remember how up until his ~awakening~ at the sports festival, Shouto refused to use his fire side? Refused to win and become this great hero with the quirk he inherited from his father? How he was going to prove to him that he didn’t need him, that it wasn’t Endvr that would get Shouto to the Number One position, but only his mom’s quirk? That same mindset applies to Dabi, but the other way around.
It’s the ice part that made him worthless. The ice part that stood in his way to reach the potential he was supposed to reach. Endvr gave up on him because his tolerance for ice instead of fire meant he wasn’t special anymore. Sure, ice would help him cool down and prevent him from over-heating and burning himself, but it’s a matter of principle.
If he can prove that he can be the most special villain who will change the country despite the fact his own quirk is killing him, then he is special and worthy and then he proves Endvr wrong and shows him how he tossed his own kid aside for absolutely no reason.
It might be one of these reasons, a mixture of all of them, or maybe none of them. But these are just some possible explanations as to why he didn’t make use of the fact that he can tolerate ice (a less interesting explanation would be that Horikoshi just didn’t wanna make it too obvious that he is a Todoroki).

can i ask hcs for tamaki, mirio, deku and todo crushing on fem reader from 1A who is an absolute role model but has a cold personality, like, they're the smartest in the class, they have the strongest quirk, they're always n1 in exercises/tests, etc.
Hello there! Thank you for the request! Refreshing to write some fluffs since I just finished a yandere story lol. I’m not the best at writing a cold reader, as I am a friendly person myself.
Warning: Soft fluffs
Izuku Midoriya
Tumblr media
Your #1 fanboy since day 1. How you carry yourself across the room, the way you master your quirk like a pro, even the way you bite into your favorite ice cream... Izuku got it all down in that notebook.
You can act all cold and distant all you want; it is not going to stop Izuku!
He admires how you follow every rule, never stepping out of line. To him, you are the dictionary definition of a good student. Your marvellous grades are just another layer of awesomeness.
He notices how you would talk to the girls sometimes, but never consider them as “friends” or get attached to anyone. Being your friend is mission impossible? Consider Deku motivated.
One day he would approach you in the library, asking about a difficult question concerning history class. You would invite him to sit down with you and explain with great detail. When Izuku made a silly mistake, you chuckled.
He never heard or seen you laugh before, so he just froze there with astoundment.
That is when Izuku realize his feelings for you are more then simple admiration, more then the regular star-fan relationship. He would stick to you like a love-sick puppy from now on, beware.
After months of trying, you finally start to warm up to him. When he finally gathered the courage to ask you why you do not like making friends, you told him the story of your childhood. When you were young, you did not have a good control over your powerful quirk, and you had caused some permanent damage to some of your childhood friends. When you finally mastered it, you are already used to solitude. So you just did not bother.
“I’m surprised you want to spend time with someone like me, you surely have other friends.”
Why would you say such things? You are such an amazing person? Izuku is not going to let you hate yourself any longer.
Shoto Todoroki
Tumblr media
You two are cut from the same cloth, both act aloof toward others.
That made Shoto curious about your backstory, as his is tragic as hell
Ever the good girl, how you always stay in top 3 in every test is beyond him. The only person who could rival you is Momo.
Seeing you spend almost all of your free time in the training grounds, makes Shoto wonder about why you are not chatting with you friends.
So he asked to join you for training. You accept, as he is one of the best in your class.
Training with you had made him realize how strong you are, he feels like he is back to the kid training with his father again. The way you strike at every opening mercilessly is breathtaking. You are so graceful, even your battle moves look like a dance.
That is when Shoto found he had fall for you, hard.
Being the two loners of your class, it is not hard for him to suggest doing group projects together. Once he got close to you, Shoto found you are actually a kind soul, so why you shut everyone else with that cold attitude first?
You say you would tell him, but not before Shoto told you his story first.
When he finishes, you are almost in tears. You had always known Endeavor is a cruel, harsh man, but abusing his own family like that? It is awful. His story makes yours pale in comparison.
Pulling him into a hug, you gently pat his back and say all is going to be okay.
Shoto would have an internal panic attack: He was not expecting you to take things this far? But he is happy to have this moment you, nevertheless.
After hearing how you injured your friends, and how you used to see yourself as a menace to others, Shoto would feel so sorry, as he promised you are not a threat anymore, so you could have friends.
Take you out for Sushi that night, that is the first time he seen your eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. He made a silent promise to himself: Shoto would make sure that glow stays.
“Let me be your fireplace in the winter, and your popsicle in the summer.”
Mirio Togata
Tumblr media
Different from all the other boys, Mirio realize he is in love with you the moment he lay eyes on you. It’s love at first sight!
How can you be cold to him? Honestly, you will be a bit overwhelmed by his sunshine and warmth and stutter, breaking that icy façade you worked so hard on.
Mirio knows his way around shy or cold people: just look at him and Tamaki!
You are the only one who can land a hit on him during that brutal training session! Talk about a great first impression.
Would ask Midoriya all about you, from your performance on tests to your best friend.
Surprised to hear you do not really have any friends. An incredible, beautiful girl like you? Having no friends? What is happening in the world now...?
You start running into Mirio everywhere, it is like he memorized your schedule perfectly. He would attempt to make small talk at first, not getting discouraged when you give curt replies to his series of questions.
One day you would bluntly ask him why he is paying so much attention to you, surely he got more important stuff to do as a graduating student.
“But you are my priority.” Of course he did not say that out loud, it would only scare you away. He just says he happens to be free now.
When you accidently twisted your ankle while descending the stairs, luck is on Mirio’s side. He would pick you up and take you to the nurse’s office at that second!
He asked you why are you so distant towards other people, did something happen?
You guess you could tell him, since he just saved you a painful long walk.
“Don’t worry, you won’t hurt me! You got a better control over your quirk now, right? So why don’t you start opening up to other people again? Isolation is not good for you.”
Seeing him urging you to consider so earnestly, you couldn’t bring yourself to say no to Mirio.
“You can start with me! Hi there, I am Mirio Togata and I would like to by your friend!”
You would laugh at his foolish phrase; it would be a moment he would cherish forever. Your precious smile.
He would guard that at all costs.
Tamaki Amijiki
Tumblr media
How would you two initiate things?? Two introverts?? No way you two are just going to start talking by yourselves miraculously.
Tamaki is impressed, you were the only one in your class who managed to land a hit on Mirio! Why aren’t you the champion of the sports festival?
He found himself staring at you at lot when you were not looking. This dude is confused...what is this fluffy feeling in his chest? “IT”S CALLED LOVE, my friend!” Mirio almost broke his eardrums.
So when Fatgum said he would consider taking on one or two more work-study students, Tamaki recommended you and Kirishima.
The older man would notice the way he sings your praises, how you already grasped your quirk at such a young age, how your swiftness grants you endless advantage in battle. He would encourage Tamaki to say more, until the ravenette finally notice his intentions.
Oh, his shy little intern has a crush! How adorable, Fatgum has to do something.
Fatgum would be your wingman, no kidding. He would give you two a lot of alone time, saying Tamaki is experienced enough. Usually he would leave you two in the back while he and Kirishima walks in the front when patrolling.
Awkward silence is irritating, even for an unsociable person like yourself. So you would fill in the void with some chatter. The progress is slow though, as you are never talkative, and neither is Tamaki.
When he finally gathers the courage to ask you to train together during school, Tamaki would stutter. He did not expect to you to accept so soon, as you are already so good.
You are stunned by his quirk, even giving praises. You would start to bring him all kinds of food, just to see how he can utilize them in training.
“My quirk is nothing like yours, yours is everchanging! Mine is just so plain and boring compare to yours.”
Please do not say such bad things about yourself... You are amazing, quirk or no quirk.
You would start to join him and his friends for lunch whenever you have a break together and finds friendship to be a beautiful thing.
You would become a friendlier person not just towards Tamaki, but towards others too. He is happy that you have other friends now, but he would forever be your first friend in such a long time. You’ll remember him forever; Tamaki would make sure of that.

uh idk if this is the request box but just found your blog and so happy that requests are open. i was wondering if you could do a shinsou x female reader, where shinsou finds out that the reader likes him and he takes her out on a date and teases her about her liking him. And the reader is just straight out cluless and just goes along with the day. And at the endof the day he confesses to her and its just all fluffy (T-T). ok hopefully that made sense. THank you and stay safe!!!
Tumblr media
Thank you, and I hope you stay safe too! This was an adorable ask, I love Shinsou (he be my 3rd hubby) and ugh, just yes. I tried to make this fluffy! 2nd Anon, I hope you don’t mind me adding your request in here, this was fluffy, and you didn’t specify, so I hope you like it!Length: 2.1k wordsPronouns used: She/her
Full Name: (y/f/n)Quirk: (y/q)Age: 16
Cafe Confessions
Tumblr media
Shinsou was an extremely observant student. He was quiet, minding his own business, but he always kept an eye out for something- anything. He’d finally been placed into the hero course in his second year and he was even more quiet than usual.
Now, (f/n) had an enormous crush on Shinsou, it happened ever since she saw him at the Sports Festival. His quirk was amazing and Midoriya almost lost within the first ten seconds. Even though he ended up breaking free of Shinsou’s quirk and won, (f/n) couldn’t get him off of her mind.
She soon found out that he was in General Education and even had a chance to fight with him during the joint training session classes A and B had. He was cold and stoic, he barely talked to her and even if he did, it was all relating to the training. He outright refused to answer any other questions.
Shinsou had made it clearer than day that he wasn’t in the hero course to make friends and that was something that seriously hurt (f/n)’s feelings. She tried her best to get over it and it hurt even more when she saw Shinsou actually talking to the others and not her.
None of that helped her feelings which felt like a runaway roller coaster that no one could stop. No matter how hard she tried to give up on him, her stupid heart wouldn’t let her. Every time he’d talk to her, she’d blush or fidget (she definitely stumbled over her words), and she always tried to be near him. Simple things like sitting next to him or standing next to him in a line or something.
Shinsou caught on pretty fast, he wasn’t an idiot. (f/n) barely tried to hide her feelings and at first, he scoffed at the thought. Him dating her? It wouldn’t happen because he wasn’t looking for a relationship. He was trying to become a hero, something that required intense focus, training, and time. There was no mention of a girlfriend.
However, the more Shinsou took notice of (f/n)’s crush on him, the more he started to notice her.
(f/n) was a very beautiful girl in his eyes. He really liked her (h/c) hair. Her (long/short) locks looked soft and he often found himself wondering what they felt like. Her bright (e/c) eyes would light up every time she got an answer right or if someone complimented her. The way she’d giggle when Kaminari would say or do something stupid was cute. She’d cover her face, sometimes she’d try to hold back her laughter but it wouldn’t work.
Things like that always brought a smile to Shinsou’s face. She was adorable and he wasn’t going to lie about it. However, over time, Shinsou learned the error of his ways. He started to like (f/n) too.
He was in denial at first. How could he like her? He was too busy, he didn’t need this. But… she was a really nice girl. She was caring, considerate, joyful, determined, and her quirk was amazing, especially the way she used it. It only took about a month for Shinsou to go from not wanting a single friend to contemplating whether he’d ask (f/n) out.
He chose the latter.
***
“Wh-what?” (f/n) asked, her eyes widening a bit.
“You heard me, let’s go out. I know there’s an ice cream parlor that opened up nearby. Want to go?” He was asking her out? Why? (f/n)’s cheeks were a bright red and her head was a fuzzy mess.
“Wh-why?”
“Why not?”
“Ok… sure.” Shinsou gave her an innocent smile and she wasn’t able to see past it. The two started walking towards the shop, making small talk, nothing concerning.
“How are your classes coming along, (l/n)?” Shinsou inquired, peering down at the girl next to him.
“F-fine. I-I’ve been having trouble with Modern History though.” She commented, looking away from him a little.
“Oh? I can help you with that, if you’d like.” She turned to him with wide, hopeful eyes and nodded.
“Yes, please! That would be amazing!” Seeing the hope in her eyes made him feel… good. He wanted to see more of that because it made him happy when she gave him that bright smile of hers.
Yep. He liked her.
The two arrived at the ice cream parlor and stood in line. (f/n) stood in front of Shinsou, her eyes glancing at the menu to pick something that she liked. They had a variety of flavors and toppings which made (f/n) want to try something new.
She was so busy looking at the menu, she hadn’t even realized Shinsou was much closer to her now with his head on her shoulder. He almost laughed at how clueless she was.
“I really like that mango ice cream, what do you think?” She asked, her eyes not leaving the menu.
“Mango sounds good. There’s also grape pineapple.” Shinsou commented, making (f/n) giggle.
“I’m surprised you still like grapes after…” Shinsou backed up, grabbing her shoulder and turning her around.
“You did not.” She giggled at his shocked look and nodded, her hand covering her mouth. “Yeah well, I’m replacing that stupid grape now.”
“I think we all prefer you anyway,” She giggled but slowly stopped when she realized what she’d said. Her eyes widened a little as her cheeks turned red, making Shinsou smirk and lean down.
“Wow, cute blush you got there, (f/n).” Her blush darkened at the way he used her first name and at how close he’d gotten. She was frozen, which made him chuckle as he turned her around, making her break out of her trance.
The woman at the register smiled at her little antics, clearly thinking the two were just an adorable couple.
“How may I help you?” (f/n) approached the counter first with a shy smile.
“Y-yes, h-hi. I-I would like (ice cream flavor) please!”
“Any toppings?”
“(Yes, (insert topping)/No thanks).”
“And you, sir?”
“I’ll have Neapolitan please, with just sprinkles on top.” The woman nodded and typed in their orders, giving them their total afterward. (f/n) reached for her (purse/wallet), but was stopped by Shinsou. “I got it.”
The two found a small booth and sat across from each other with (f/n) thanking Shinsou for paying.
“Of course, cutie. This is a date after all.” (f/n) froze and almost seemed as if she hadn’t been able to comprehend what he had just said.
“A… wh-what?”
“I asked you out on a date, (f/n).” He repeated not even bothering to hide the amusement in his voice. (f/n) fell silent for a moment as her mind went off on a tangent, trying to piece together everything that had happened. He had been a bit flirty. He did ask her out, completely out of the blue, and he didn’t specify if it was a friendly hangout or… a date.
“This is… a date? Why?” He smirked.
“You like me, right?”
“I-I don’t.” She lied, looking away with a frown.
“That’s a lie,” He chuckled, his lilac eyes gazing at her. “You don’t really bother hiding it, do you? You’re always blushing, you’re always around me, you always try to talk to me. Except you stopped recently, I’m not sure why.”
(f/n)’s frown only deepened at his words. Yeah, she stopped because she thought she was just bothering him. At first, that was true. Shinsou didn’t want to make friends so everyone was bothering him, but after a while, that changed. He found himself liking his new companions and especially the cute girl that always said hello to him, not an ounce of worry about his quirk.
That was another thing. (f/n) always willingly started conversations with him and no matter what, she’d always respond to him without any hesitance. It warmed his heart that someone looked passed his quirk, someone who wouldn’t let it scare them, even though he came off so harsh.
“I can’t help it,” She whispered, looking up at him, “you’re amazing. Your determination is impressive and kinda scary too, but in a good way. You didn’t let what others say bring you down, you’re always looking to better yourself and it’s amazing.” He only nodded, taking in her words. Before she could continue, their orders were ready. Shinsou quickly got them and returned to (f/n) who happily took a bite, trying to relieve the awkwardness.
“Hmm, I like this. The strawberry tastes good.” Shinsou stated, letting the ice cream melt on his tongue. With a mischievous giggle, (f/n) reached out with her spoon and took a small scoop before eating it.
“Ooh, you’re right.”
“Hey!” He tried to pretend he was upset, however, he wasn’t able to keep his laughter in. He broke and stole some of hers.
“Hey!” She giggled, leaning closer, “that’s mine!”
“Oh? It doesn’t have your name on it.” He teased, making her lean closer as she stole another bite of his ice cream. “You haven’t learned, have you?”
“Two can play at this game, Shinsou!” She giggled, making him raise an eyebrow.
“You’re blushing, (f/n).” She quieted, with a shy smile and looked down fueling his need to tease her.
“Shut up.”
“Could you… I don’t know, like me?” (f/n) almost choked on her treat, her eyes almost popping out of her head.
“Wh-what?”
“I think you do.”
“I-I don-”
“You can’t deny it with that huge blush on your face. Oh? And now you’re shying away. How cute.”
“Shut up, Shinsou!” (f/n) grumbled, pouting.
“Wow, even that pout is cute of yours.”
“Stop teasing me!” She mumbled, “I’ll fight you and I’ll kick your butt! I’ll do it!”
“Oh yeah? Don’t tempt me to use my quirk.” He said with a smirk.
“You wouldn’t,” She declared with a confident smile, “I trust you and I know you wouldn’t.”
“Say I won’t.” He challenged her.
“You won’t.” She responded without hesitance, making him smile a little. Even now, as he threatened to use his mind control quirk on her, she was still trusting. She still willingly answered him instead of backing away.
“Ah, guess you called my bluff.” He answered, taking another bite of his ice cream. “You’re a brave one.”
“Brave? Hmm… I think I just know you a bit better.”
“Know me?”
“I know you don’t exactly like using your quirk. Especially when the situation doesn’t call for it. You don’t trick people unless it’s necessary either.” Damn. She was right, but she was also special and held a soft spot in his heart, so of course, he wasn’t going to tease her like that. Well… maybe.
“Do you trust me, (f/n)?” He asked, abruptly, making her eyes widen. However, she hardly wasted a second before nodding.
“I do.”
“You barely know me.”
“You’re a hero, right? That means you only want to do good. I trust you as a hero, Hitoshi Shinsou.” Those were words he longed to hear, he’d always wanted someone to say something like that to him.
Shinsou was at a loss of words, his lilac eyes studied every inch of (f/n)’s face trying to find any little trace of deception. His eyes followed (f/n) as she took another bite of her ice cream, her eyes landing on the frozen treat as her spoon picked up another scoop. A hero. She saw him as a hero, something he’d begged everyone for, but never had to ask her.
***
Both (f/n) and Shinsou were walking back to the dorms when he gently grabbed her hand. Her cheeks flushed red again as she looked back and forth between her hand and Shinsou’s eyes.
“Wh-what a-are you do-doing?”
“There’s something I have to tell you, (f/n). And it seems like you haven’t been able to catch on.”
“Wh-what?” Shinsou’s arm gently snaked around (f/n)’s waist as he tugged her closer. Her hands landed on his shoulders as he held her in place.
“I like you, (f/n). I really, really like you.” (f/n) had no response except for a little squeak that escaped her lips.
“Y-you do?” He nodded, his fingers brushing against her jaw.
“I do.” (f/n) swallowed, her eyes meeting Shinsou as the two leaned in. After a few long seconds, their lips finally met. It was brief, a quick brush against each other and they pulled apart.
“I-I like you too.” She confessed, which made him chuckle and hug her.
“I know, oh now, don’t pout like that. You’re absolutely adorable.”
“Whatever, Shinsou!”
“Hey, (f/n)?” The girl looked at him and watched as his cheeks flushed red.
“Call me Hitoshi.”
“Ok, Hitoshi.” He loved the way his name sounded on her lips. Yeah, his classmates were annoying and it was a challenge for Shinsou to get along with them, but with (f/n) at his side, it seemed easier. He’d achieve his goal of being a better hero than everyone, with her right next to him.

a matter of strength
request: So I wanted a really self-indulgent fic with me and Todoroki. My friend started shipping us and now I can't stop thinking about it. Friend even got me to do some kabedon art and I don't remember what led to the discussion of kabedon but then I was like "Well I guess I'm drawing Todoroki trapping me against a wall." So I want a fic of my self-insert OC meeting Todoroki and whatever the hell leads up to him doing a kabedon. It's certainly preferable for him to like me back, but more than anything I want him to be in character. So if the kabedon is because he's fed up with me flirting or something, then so be it. (requested by @kawayuni)
a/n: i hope i wrote your quirk in the right way!!
warnings: self doubt, a fight scene but nothing too gory

If it wasn’t for the the fact that Todoroki was with you, you would’ve probably been dead.
You really didn’t know what happened, you just froze. To think that today would finally lead up to this moment.
-
You woke up that morning feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day! Sure, maybe it was a bit hard to get out of bed but you did it eventually! Which is really all that counts. Around 7 am you were almost out the door to get to work and you were at the train station at 7:30. The station was crowded but you did your best to slink through to get to where you needed to be.
Once you got to work you immediately went into the office to see if you had any paperwork you had to get done. “Good morning, Y/L/N.”, a familiar voice said from behind you. “It’s indeed a good morning, especially now that I got to see you!”, you jokingly said and smiled at the receptionist who walked past. “You’re too sweet, Y/N.”, she laughed and walked over to the break room. Without hesitation you got to work and finished what needed to be done, you really just wanted to get out to the action. You weren’t always needed out, since you were a rescue worker but sometimes you got to go out on patrol. Today was that kind of day! You were actually patrolling with Todoroki, which you were very excited about. You had first met him at UA during the sports festival, and since then you had developed a little crush on him. Who wouldn’t, really, tough?
“Ready to go, Y/H/N?”, Todoroki asked as you got out of the changing room. “Ready as I’ll ever be, handsome!”, you grinned at the way his face got slightly more red. You were what people would call a flirt. Really you just tried to compliment people in that way, and most people were fine with it. Todoroki was one of those people and you had a fun time teasing him about the fact that he would easily blush. Sometimes you’d get a smile or even a chuckle out of him, which is why you usually saved your best one-liners for him personally.
During your patrol you kept it flirty and lighthearted, calling him by nicknames and telling silly pick-up lines. Todoroki didn’t complain, and simply went along with it, sometimes he’d roll his eyes but he’d always have a smile on his lips while doing so. “I appreciate you serving looks, but I’d also like to be served some food.”, you joked, “Wanna go out for lunch after patrol?” Usually you’d go out for lunch with the person you were patrolling with after doing your job, which is why you loved patrolling with Todoroki.  “Yeah, as long as we get back in time. I have some paper work to do.”, he nodded, ignoring the flirty remark you made even though his ears were turning slightly red as well as his cheeks. “Great what do you want to-”, you didn’t look at where you were going and bumped into someone, “Oh, I’m so sorry!” “Watch where you’re going.”, the man growled at you. “Sir, it was just a mistake. They apologiesed.”, Todoroki said in your defense. “Heroes these days... they’re so incapable...”, the man kept walking in the opposite direction of where you were going. You looked back at him for a while, there was just something that rubbed you the wrong way about him and you couldn’t get it out of your mind. “Are you okay? You know you shouldn’t take what he said to heart, right?”, Todoroki brought you out of your own head. “Yeah, yeah! I’m fine.”, you shrugged it off and decided to not focus your energy on a grumpy man.
Once your shift was over the two of you went out to get soba, still in your hero costumes mostly because you were to lazy to take it off but also in case of an emergency call. You could never be too careful, the only downside was people staring at you and the commotion around it. “We always end up eating soba when we’re going patrolling together.”, you commented at random, after there had been a long pause of silence where you had just been eating. “It’s my favorite...”, he shrugged and looked up at you, “... I like eating it with you.” Todoroki wasn’t much of a talker, he wasn’t a flirter either, but in some sort of way, in certain moments, his words would make your heart skip a beat. Maybe it was the fact that he usually didn’t talk much and that when he did it left a much bigger impact. Or it was the fact that he chose his words so carefully that each of them really meant something. Before you could respond to this with another one of your flirty remarks both of you got a stress call. It was an area near you, which is probably why you got it in the first place.  “Let’s go.”, Todoroki said, got up and threw some money on the table to pay for your food.
When you reached the scene it was a building on fire. You approached one of the medics helping out at the scene. “What’s going on here? What can we do?”, you asked. “There are already heroes inside, but there are still hostages being held.”, the nurse said stressfully, “Just try to get them out safely. There’s a villain in there- I don’t know what he wants-” “Alright, thank you!”, you said as the nurse ran off to help some other victims, “Let’s go!”
While Todoroki helped out in trying to put the fire out, you were helping people out of the building. “Not too many people at once!”, you told them, “Five is just enough! Don’t worry, I’ll get all of you down.” You got them down by lifting and sinking rocks, almost like an elevator, which is why they couldn’t all get down at once. With the best of your abilities you tried to focus on helping them, but you could also feel the steps of someone approaching quickly through the vibration in the ground. The only thing you could do was to hope that it was just another hero, or a hostage further in the building that had managed to escape on their own. “Y/H/N, the villain is approaching your area!”, you heard through your earpiece. “Got it!”, you answered. Shit... As you helped the next five people on the hovering rock you put up a stone wall against the door. “The door is barricaded, but I’ll need back-up. I won’t be able to hold it that long.”, you said to your mic. With one hand holding up your barrier and the other one slowly sinking down the five people, your energy was about to reduce faster than normal. Still, there were only three people left after this one so you told yourself to suck it up and finish the job. “Back up is on the way, but please keep the door barricaded!”, the sound from the earpiece startled you a bit, but you kept your balance. “Thank you.”, you answered shortly to keep as much energy as possible. You heard the door open and a familiar man’s voice groan, probably a reaction to your barrier. With a sigh you told everyone to keep quiet, hoping you wouldn’t get caught or that he wouldn’t bother. “Heroes these days... they’re so incapable.”, when you heard the voice say that your entire body froze. It was the man from before. You looked down the building to see that the people down there had gotten off. With as much power you could muster you brought the rock back up. When you turned to tell everyone to get on you were met with the villain smashing through your barrier. You dropped the rock to the ground and hurried to the three people left, creating a new wall around them. It was a wall that you didn’t have to hold up yourself, though you knew it would soon turn into gravel so you had to work quickly. You tried capturing the villains legs by incasing them with stone, but he just broke himself free. Every single attack you tried to stop him with failed, and you were slowly getting more and more tired. All the while you were trying to protect the innocent citizen from this delusional man he was mocking you. “What kind of training are they even putting you through nowadays? It doesn’t seem like it’s working.”, he laughed. You heard the agonizing sound of the wall around the people you were trying to protect crumble to the ground. You fell to your knees out of exhaustion and pure disappointment over the fact that you were uncapable of doing this by yourself, even if you were a rescue worker and not a hero. Out of the corner of your eye you saw a tiny figure. Your head snapped over there, only to see a child who had been in hiding until now. You hadn’t even noticed the fact that there weren’t only three people left. Because of the movement of your head, the villain followed your eyes. In a moment of pure panic you did the only thing you could think of; use the last of your energy to build two stone barriers, one around the child and the other around the other three people. “You’re just gonna leave yourself open for me like this? You do realize that I’ll just kill them after I take you out, right?”, the villain laughed, “You really are useless, aren’t you?” He raised his hand towards you, and as you were expecting the blow something cold appeared right in front of your face. A wall of ice had stopped the villain from giving you one last blow. “You’re alright, Y/N...”, you heard Todoroki whisper, “... come with me, the civillians are gonna be okay. We brought back up, it’s just a matter of time-” You blacked out.
When your eyes fluttered open again you were met with a bright light. It smelled like carbolic acid and a distracting hint of flowers. A slight beeping was heard every second or so. Once you got your vision back and looked around the room you understood that you were in a hospital. The slight smell of flowers came from the boquet on the nightstand next to you, and of course the beeping was from a heart monitor. A nurse came into the room with a relieved look on her face. “Oh, you’re awake!”, she smiled kindly. “Where am I?”, you muttered out. As you tried to rub the sleep out of your eyes you realized you were hooked up to a drip. “You used too much energy and blacked out. Don’t worry, it’s only been a few hours... and you should be ready to head out if you just rest for a bit longer.”, the nurse explained, “You’re recovering quickly, but I recommend you take a few days off work.” As the nurse left the room you thought about what had happened. You weren’t strong enough to take down the villain, and in return those innocent people probably got traumatized. With a deep sigh you put your head in your hands. If it wasn’t for the the fact that Todoroki was with you, you would’ve probably been dead.
When you got back from the hospital you didn’t take those days off that the nurse recommended. Instead you went to work and did paper work. You would’ve gone out on patrol but that was too far according to the agency. On top of that, you had been avoiding Todoroki like the plague. Whenever you looked at him you just felt helpless, and you didn’t want to show your face to him after what had happened. You didn’t want to face him because you thought you were too weak for him.
Sometimes, even though you weren’t allowed to patrol, you’d just take a look at your hero costume. You missed getting to go out, but you had to fully get better before you got to do so.  One time when you were in the changing room for your break, looking at your hero costume, someone opened and closed the door quickly behind them. “You’re back?”, a familiar voice asked. When you looked back to the voice’s owner your face blossomed with different colors of red. Todoroki walked closer to you. “I got back four days ago.”, you muttered out and closed the locker door, ready to walk out of there. “You didn’t think of stopping by my desk? Maybe say ‘hi’?”, Todoroki wasn’t usually this forward, “I was worried about you, you know.” “You shouldn’t have been.”, you sighed, “It’s not like I’m that important to the agency.” When he tried to take a few steps closer you backed up, but was met with the cold material of your locker behind you. “Y/N, what are you talking about?”, the way he said your name so softly made your heart flutter, but you couldn’t give in. “I’m just saying that I’m not as powerful as the rest of you, so I’m not important to-” Todoroki’s hands slammed down on the locker behind you, his hands were right by your head. “Did you ever think that I’d be worried about you for selfish reasons? Or do you think I’m some sort of machine?”, he walked just a bit closer to you and let his forearms lean against the metal behind you, “You don’t think I take what you say to me to heart?” You had never been this close to him before, he could probably hear your heart beating out of your chest. You really didn’t know what happened, you just froze. To think that today would finally lead up to this moment, a day that seemed so normal as if it was any other day. “I talk like that to everybody, Todoroki, I-” “Look me in the eye and tell me it’s the same.”, he said with a low tone. You finally met his gaze, his piercing eyes were almost unbearable but you kept yourself steady. “I can’t...”, you admitted. “So why can’t you believe me when I say that I was worried? I don’t care if you don’t think you’re strong enough to matter. To me you matter, and what you did during that mission was nothing but strong.”, he had calmed down a bit and now talked in a softer voice, “I’d really like for you to see that too.” “Todoroki...” “Please call me Shoto.”, he said. “Shoto...”, you tried the name out, “... Shoto, you matter to me too and hearing that from you means a lot... but could you maybe back up a bit?” At this point you could feel Shoto’s breath against your lips and your face had become increasingly more hot every second. “Right! Sorry...”, Shoto backed away from you, and you’d be lying if you said that you didn’t miss his warmth. “... so you’re saying you... knew that I like you?”, you muttered and he nodded, “And you like me back?” Shoto nodded again, and that tiny motion made your heart burst with fireworks and butterflies and your head was buzzing as if you had just gotten drunk for the first time. “No more mindless flirting?”, he held out his hand to you. “No more mindless flirting.”, you took his hand gently. As soon as you did so he started walking out the door, dragging you with him.  “Wait, where are we going?”, you blurted out. “I’m taking you out for a coffee, so that we can finally have a date.” “You don’t think that could wait?” “No.”
-
extra:
“How did you find out that I like you? I mean I act like that around everyone.”, you asked and took another sip from your cup of coffee. “I didn’t know...”, he admitted, “I was talking to the receptionist and she kinda let it slip, actually.” “Are you serious!?”

Chapter 1
It was the last round of the sports festival, I had made it this far. Sneaking and compelling people to believe in things that weren’t there, to begin with. This was my chance to show off my quirk and let everyone know I deserved to be here. This was my chance to show the world I could be a hero. My class didn’t know my quirk and that was helpful in times of need, I must admit, I had been training and awaiting this day. The girls had gotten into those cheerleading uniforms that Momo had made, it was cute but when Present Mic announced they weren’t meant to be in them I had to stifle a laugh. The side games started and I was so glad I got in.
When drawing lots we all began to go to Midnight and I sighed out trying to calm myself as Ojiro put up his hand and said he wished to not compete, this only would happen three times in his life for this school and that’s if he made it into the third round the next year. He began to explain he didn’t remember anything and said he blamed the player he was with, the boy with purple hair and black under eyes. Toru just said he should go but he brought up this pride and then someone from 1-B did the same thing. Kirishima flushed about manliness and it was nice. Looking at the board I smiled, I earned my place here.
Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tokoyami vs Yaoyorozu Ashido vs Y/N Shinso vs Midoriya Todoroki vs Sero Uraraka vs Bakugou Iida vs Hatsume Kaminari vs Shiozaki
So I was versing Ashido first, that wouldn’t be hard. I went into a room and tried to calm myself down. I had to be ready for this, it would be a lot. I felt bad but I needed to win, this was what I was made for. I would win this. My fellow peers were doing their things while doing the other side challenges which was nice to watch when I came back from getting some food. I was worried about this but as I came to the stands to watch I smiled sitting down.
The first match was Deku and Shinso, this Shinso character seemed to be very skilled but also has scared some of his fellow peers and created that show about wanting to go be in 1-A. I had to watch everyone in case they advanced. Immediately Shinso began to talk about how stupid Ojiro was and Deku yelled but then he just stopped dead in his tracks. I turned seeing Ojiro stand and say he told Deku not to talk, Shinso’s quirk needed you to talk.
Present Mic began to yell about how Deku just stood not moving and then watching as Deku began to just walk out of bounds, what was going on. He wasn’t in control of himself, this quirk was far too powerful. But Shinos' quirk wasn’t physical so he had little to no chance in the practical exam, so this was something to remember. He deserved to be in the hero course but it was almost impossible for him to get in. But then Deku stopped walking and the wind blew across the stadium as he stopped just in time, how did he break the hold, it looked like he too was stunned. I had to pay attention to both of them now, both could make it to the next round. Deku ran as he tried to push Shinso out of the ring, Shinso punching and trying to win. I felt bad, if not responded he would lose and with one over the shoulder throw from Deku Shinso was out of bounds. I felt bad but this is how the games worked. Shinso looked mad, I would be too if I was him. People cheered and congratulated them both but as Shinso walked to the stands heroes were congratulating him and saying he could be a hero which was lovely to hear. In reality, he would make a very good hero, villains tended to be loudmouths.
Next match was Todoroki and Sero, Deku came back and joined his friends as I sat at the back of the group in silence. Present Mic introduced both of them and within seconds Sero had grabbed Todoroki with his tape and began to swing him around the boundaries but Todoroki’s foot came down to the ground and ice just erupted into the stadium, crawling around Sero and in front of the class, it was strong. Stronger than anyone here so far, that power was extraordinary. Midnight asked if Sero could move and it was obvious he couldn’t so with a simple answer Todoroki has ready won the match and it was over, Todoroki had won, with ease. This was crazy, I don’t think I could beat him if push came to shove but I would have to do it to win. Everyone in the stands was just calling out “Nice try” no one could beat him, melting the ice they walked from the boundaries.
Next was Kaminari and that plant girl, her voice soft and hair made of vines, she was going on about being a hero and I lost interest quite quickly. Present Mic apologised and I noticed Kaminari have to compose himself, it was sad to watch. Kaminari’s attack was nothing as her vines gripped him and held him in the air, she won. Impressive. That blonde began to yell at us, eyes wide and mouth open, he was quite annoying but the redhead with large fists took him away. I could hear Deku mumbling to himself as he wrote in that little book of his, I could hear him from the back of the stands.
The fourth match was Iida and Hatsume, the match was boring. She just wanted to show off her work and then gloat about it, her mic called out over the crowd, she wasn’t my favourite but then again Iida was trying his hardest. She was smart I’ll give her that but this was extremely annoying. She looked crazy. After showing them all off she simply stepped out of bounds. He seemed mad but then again she was getting what she wanted out of it. Only this time I wasn’t watching from the sidelines but the tv in the room, I was next up and this was my chance to show off my skills.
I walked out and stood still not moving and my face showed not a care in the world, I had to remain calm this was my chance. Present Mic introduced us “The silent scary one Y/LN Y/N from the hero course vs... is there some kind of purpose for those things sticking out of her head, from the same class Mina Ashido” she was stretching as I simply stood still not wanting to move, I needed to focus.
“This match is going to be a piece of cake” she smiled and pointed to my form cutely if only she knew what she was in for. I felt bad that she didn’t know my quirk and I knew hers but I had gotten in on recommendation thankfully otherwise I'd be in Shinso’s shoes. I didn’t respond to her. I knew her friends would be cheering her on but I couldn’t help but be saddened no one would be cheering for me.
Once the match began she slid along the ground by her acid, like ice skating. I stood still and I could see the confusion and peoples faces. I turned and looked to her, she was smiling and so happy to be here and in this match, she was confident. She was fast but not fast enough. Closing my eyes I opened them and she froze instantly. My quirk allowed me to create illusions that not only I could control but could do damage if I so wished, I preferred fears. Her fear was hard to determine, she had a few but creepy things seemed to fit. It went dark for her though I could still see in the real world, she fell to the floor clutching her arms in fear. The crowd went silent as she shook her head.
“Get away from me” she screamed and I made the creature try to swipe for her and tear up the ground, you could see the ground tear and then with a simple breath out she got up and began to run, this is what I wanted. She was running and fell, she was so scared. I could practically feel her heartbeat “I said get away from me” everyone had their fears, no one could beat me, I could win this all. A few more swipes and then she was out of bounds and I stopped the view. She looked around. That's all I needed to do.
“Ashido” Midnight called out and she looked around and then looked to me in fear and shook her head “Is out of bounds. Y/N will be moving to the next round” it was silent as Ashido looked out to me and shook her head. She couldn’t see or hear during an illusion or manifestation. She didn’t know what was going on. The crowd was silent as I began to walk back to the door, I came out of.
“She didn’t even move” “How did the ground tear up” “Ashido looked terrified” “That was unfair” “What even happened”
I heard a few people ask and then onto the next round. I could have shown them all, what Ashido was seeing but then my next opponents would know my strategy. I didn’t want to attend the next match, I went to a back room and sat down looking at the monitor. I hoped Ashido was ok though, I didn't mean to scare, or, I did. I just needed to win, I wanted to show off.
Tokoyami and Yaoyorozu, their quirks were very impressive and it was hard to try and figure out which would win but I had an idea. I had been studying everyone through my time at UA. Yaoyorozu questions herself which is something she cannot do in a match while Tokoyami relies on Dark Shadow. Once the match began Dark Shadow was pushing her and within seconds she was out of the boundaries, she stood there for a moment as Tokoyami just walked out. That was incredible. He barely moved, barely did anything.
Then came Tetsutetsu vs Kirishima. The match was long and very boring but cute in some sorta way. They had the same quirk, they fought with a lot of passion but I left the room to wait for my next match. Walking in I wasn’t expecting to see Iida, Deku and Uraraka standing in there. I should have thought ahead. Uraraka looked scared but the other two I think are trying to comfort her in a way.
“Oh hey Y/N” Uraraka spoke and the two others turned to me with questioning looks. I stepped back as she looked me over. Why was she looking me over?
I bowed “Sorry I didn’t know this room was in use” I quickly turned and tried to leave as fast as I could. I could hear them talk but I was walking away by then. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, Ashido I didn’t doubt had told people what she saw and I didn’t want to face anyone just yet. Going back into the viewing room I was grateful no one was there.
The next match was Uraraka vs Bakugou, no wonder she was scared. I would be, I wanted to root for her but Bakugou was so strong and dedicated to being a hero I didn’t doubt he’d pull out all the stops to win. I paid close attention as I may have to go against one of them in the future.
When the match began Uraraka just sprinted straight for him with no mercy, this was insane. With one swing of his hand, she was sent barreling into the side of the boundaries, smoke weaving around them. Bakugou did another hit through the smoke but it was her jacket, behind him. His reaction time was crazy turning and simply blasting her once more. This continued, she ran at him and then he exploded. I applauded her determination and Bakugou’s power. Bakugou was far too strong to be in the first year, this continued her running then Bakugou blasting her away. She wasn’t resting and her energy would soon run out. People were complaining and Eraserhead quickly shut them up with saying Bakugou knew she deserved to be here and wanted to show his power. I had to agree but Uraraka released her quirk, rocks falling from the sky, he tore up the floor. A very smart idea, as they fell to the stadium she ran with the rest of her strength though all he did was hold his arm and let out an ear ringing explosion. I could feel my room shake with the force. How was he that strong, that is insane. As the smoke cleared he was fine, not a single injury, untouched. She stood up but her body fell to the ground making Bakugou stop. This was crazy, her body was giving up on her, exhausted. Though I couldn’t blame her, she had been exploded endlessly. She was taken out and Bakugou won the match. Round one, done.
The first match of the second round was Midoriya vs Todoroki. This was sure to be interesting. I hadn’t gone back to my class not wanting to face them until the end of the festival. I wanted to show that I could do this but the look in people's eyes when Ashido lost was heartbreaking. I had to pay close attention to them both. Within seconds Todoroki had let off an ice attack but Deku was able to counter it at the cost of his finger. Doing it again he was now four fingers down, two from his last match. This was far too intense, he was hurting himself to have a chance at winning. Deku just continued to break his fingers, his quirk was very strange indeed. Why did his quirk hurt him so much, a quirk was a part of you though he seemed to reject him. One hand down and he was caught in ice only to use his whole hand. With ease, Todoroki got up and was ready to fight again. Did Todoroki have a limit to how much he could use? His ice power seemed to be limitless. Deku then began to talk to him, there was no volume to the tv, though I did notice the shake in Todorokis' arm, he was getting cold. That was his limitation though why didn’t he use his fire quirk. Todoroki was just running at him, he was slower though, Deku was able to land a hit, that was impressive in itself. They were using everything in their power to win, to show off their power. I was leaning close to the tv to watch them, they both had so much power I didn’t know if I could win against them he was using his body no matter how much it hurt him. Deku landed another hit to Todoroki. Deku landed another punch and Todoroki seemed out of it, he looked out of this world but he still got up. The sound was off but he had said something, why was no one stopping this. Todoroki just burst into flames, his firepower in use, what had Deku said to get him so riled up. No way Deku could win this. Would I have to fight him, there was no way I could win against that. When their power collides the building shook once more and I held the TV looking around desperately trying to see who won but as the smoke cleared then Deku just fell, Todoroki won. I wouldn’t have to fight him, right? There was not a chance in the world I could win against him. I leaned back in the chair and shook my head, there was not a chance I could win. He had to be afraid of something, right? Shiozaki vs Iida was over quickly in my opinion, Iida was far to fast for her to do anything but then it was my turn once again. As I walked out the crowd went silent and I looked to Tokoyami.
“Begin” Present Mic called out and I could hear the cheering for Tokoyami but none for me, this was incredibly disappointing. I wondered if my parents were watching this, were they proud of me.
Breathing out, I could win this, with ease. Once the match started he brought out dark Shadow, a powerful quirk I have to admit but not strong enough to beat my own. The sad thing was that he feared his quirk, my illusion turned the sky into a dark abyss that only Tokoyami could see, I kept Dark Shadow out of it, in case he did indeed think he had more power than he did. Creating another view for Tokoyami was that his friends were in danger they both left fighting me to try and fight their inner selves. Dark Shadow was brought into his host quickly, the darkness was only a ruse it was easy for him to do so but with the image of Dark Shadow trying to get out I made a patch of light appear and he began to run. Once there the darkness cleared and he was out of bounds. He turned to look at me then down at himself and his eyes widened as I bowed and turned on my heel.
“Look at that, she didn’t even move” Present Mic called out and I looked to the ground as I made my way into the hall I came from. “What is her quirk” he called out and I looked up as people viewed me, looking back down I could hear him finish “I wouldn’t want to fight her”
The yelling began again, they wanted to know what I was doing. Not yet, my next match was Iida who was far too smart for his good. I walked out of the stadium and made my way back to the room I was in, the back one, the one no one went into. Then came Bakugou vs Kirishima, Kirishima had won against his opponent via an arm wrestle. I was next this was news to me but not an issue at all.
Kirishima and Bakugou’s fight was long but very interesting indeed, Bakugou continued to counter, Kirishima had a limit to his quirk. Bakugou laid hit after hit on Kirishima and then he was gone, Kirishima was knocked out and Bakugou was ready to advance. I was versing Iida and then either Bakugou or Todoroki, at that thought I shivered. I would have to give my all, both of them seemed level headed but I could create anything. I could do this. My quirk was strong and hero material I could do this.
Standing up I began to make my way to the stadium once more, walking out I breathed and came to stand opposite Iida. “Your quirk is strong” he called out, he was fast. I would have to use my quirk immediately and possibly still dodge.
“As is yours” I stated and everyone went silent as did he. I didn’t talk in class and tried not to as much as I could, he wasn’t expecting a response and neither was the crowd. I stood still once again and nodded to Iida who nodded back. Closing my eyes I breathed in.
“Begin” Midnight called out and my eyes burst open to take over Iidas view as I jumped to the side to avoid him though that was all it took for him to stop and take a step back. He didn’t quite fear what I was showing him but he cared about people far too much.
“Y/N” I heard over the loudspeaker “This is too show your quirk, please let the crowd see what you are doing” I sighed, I didn’t want to show anyone before the final round. I could see both Todoroki and Bakugou viewing my fight “This is your teacher” with a simple huff I let everyone see what Iida was seeing.
I was coughing as he stopped and it looked like the people in the stands cheering. I fell to the ground and when I looked up blood was falling from my lips “Y/N” he called and ran over as it looks like Midnight did too, coming to stand next to me as I continued to cough up blood.
“You see her quirk is illusions that is like a manifestation. Iida was trying to ask if I was okay and the look on the crowd was disbelief. “She can make you see what she wants, though she plays on people’s fears or worries. Iida cares about people too much”
“Take her to recovery girl, you’re the fastest. Go now” I coughed again my hands coming to hold the blood “It is ok she will be looked after” Midnight called out as Iida picked me up and began to run out of bounds once he had reached that point I fell into ash in his hands and he stopped and I let the view go back to normal. He turned and saw me.
“It was a trick, it seemed so real” he whispered and I bowed to him. I felt bad, but I was forced to show off my quirk, it was something I had to do. If Aizawa hadn’t spoken I could have won and the boys wouldn’t know my quirk.
“Y/N advances to the next round” a loud and roaring cheer erupted and I smiled lightly, I could hear my name being called and people talking only this time it wasn’t negative or confusing but positive and congratulating.
“With a quirk like that, she could be offence and defence not to mention they can cause physical attacks” “I want her at my agency” “Her quirk could be used in any hero setting” “Strong and in control of the situation, hasn’t move except that small bit with all her fights”
I walked out feeling in control and ready for the next match. Going back to my room I got ready to watch Bakugou and Todoroki. I was going to be versing one of the two and at this point, I didn’t want either. They were both so strong and had seen my quirk they could try and get out of it but I could just hide. I could do this.
I was watching them so intensely, as they walked out into the stadium, I could feel my heart pound. I was going to have to face one of these people and now they both knew my quirk. They looked so in control and ready for a fight. When the fight started I leaned forward watching as Todoroki placed his hand on the ground ice erupting at lightning speed towards Bakugou, faster than with Deku. He’s recharged. Bakugou was fast though his hands moving as though it meant nothing to him, I could hear the explosions through the stadium, they were giving their all. Ice encircled him, was this the end of the match. Did Bakugou lose that quickly? The ice was at the top of the stadium, sharp and cold. I felt a shiver run down my back at the thought of versing the ice maker. Then came the rumbling, rhythmic and strong, what was this, it had to be Bakugou. An explosion rang out the ice exploding around the stadium and Todoroki jumped back, they were so strong. Watching Bakugous' hands gently lean on the ice, steam was created, within seconds they were barreling towards each other. I leaned forward my eyes wide, I couldn’t fight them. I was scared and I was nowhere near the fight. Bakugou was too fast making a quick move and grabbed Todoroki flipping him over, ice is what caught the other. They could both do close combat and distance, offence and defence. I should be doing a Deku and writing down everything I could. Todoroki surfing ice, Bakugou made another hit but Todoroki just threw him away, why wasn’t he using his fireside? He could potentially win if he did. Little explosions burst from the palms of Bakugou only then he was running at full force, who would win this. Todoroki just stood there, Bakugou jumped using his explosions and then began to twist, creating a tornado of sorts, fire stretched along the others arm, this was going to be big. The impact was made the stadium shaking as it had so many times that day, I couldn’t look away. Just like with Deku's’ fight I looked desperately trying to see who would still be standing after that. The smoke cleared and Bakugou laid on the floor, with Todoroki now sprawled over his ice, out of bounds. Bakugou ran and yelled but there was no sound I couldn’t hear it, what was he saying? Then he collapsed Midnight’s clothing ripped and producing her quirk. Once Bakugou was awake and ready I was going to fight him. I was going to have to fight Bakugou. What could I do against him?
Leaning back I looked over when Bakugou’s face was seen on the screen next to my own, saying “Final round” I was shaking. He would awake soon and I was already shaking. My hands began to sweat, what could I do against a powerhouse like Bakugou. This was far too intense for my body and mind to take. I moved to grab the water next to me and downed it in one go, trying to calm my nerves. Standing up I began to pace. What could I do too not only wow the spectators and agencies but win? He knew how my quirk worked now, I couldn’t do a single thing. No one could hear him when in one of my illusions and it would be a lot of energy to use everyone in the crowd and keep my body from being exploded in real life if I got injured the illusion might break. A few more side games and I was being called out, Bakugou was awake and angry from what I had heard.
Walking out to the stadium, I breathed a sigh and walked up the steps to see Bakugou, small explosions coming from his palms and I stood still looking over at him “I know how your damn quirk works, you can’t fool me” he yelled and the ground went silent waiting for me to respond.
Leaning to one side I smiled an illusion come next to him “Oh really” it whispered and he growled, a hand moving up his arm the illusion exploded within a second, I smiled “I think I'll do just fine Katsuki Bakugou” his eyebrow raised in question before he yelled in anger.
“The final match Katsuki Bakugou vs Y/N Y/LN. Begin” he yelled and I smiled as he began to run full speed towards my direction. I wanted this to be a show, a show for all to see. But he was faster than I expected within seconds I created a wall around my body, a physical illusion, he was stopped for the moment. Moving away I made an illusion of myself on the ground kneeling as an explosion went off and I was laying on the ground, quickly moving to get up as the wall fell into ash.
He followed that one. It was easy to fool him, too easy. By letting the audience see what was happening, all except one. Aizawa. He could prove I wasn’t cheating once my plan was complete. Bakugou followed my running figure. I made sure to make everything look as it did, even the TV’s showed the copies. I could only control inside the stadium so the people at home would be seeing me standing, that was ok.
“You won’t get away from me” he screamed and I created a wall around fake me, just too look like I was trying to get away faster, he exploded it. Perfect smoke. The smoke clouded his vision and I made the boundaries a little bit bigger. Not enough to notice and moved me to make it look normal once more. I may as well sit down for this match. No, I had to stay focused.
“I think I'm doing pretty well” the copy called out and he growled explosions going off as I created one behind him as my fake me disappeared, an illusion inside an illusion. I kept creating them, faster and faster as he exploded them then with a final one. Boundaries were a bit bigger, each hit. The original fake me then got too close and exploded, making them physical she was thrown back harshly all illusions falling to ash. I looked to be struggling, trying to get up as the copy held their arm in pain, the arm they landed on. It looked so real, I was getting good at this.
“Your physical body can still be harmed” he smirked and I did too the real me. He hadn’t landed a single hit on my form, he was too focused on destroying my copies to worry about the size of the boundaries, he was getting closer. I was thinking too much I didn’t notice him running. So with a fast duck and punch to his ribs, the copy sent him flying.
“You make it sound like I don’t know hand to hand combat” the copy smiled and then clutched their arm again, the arm began to shake, he took notice, good. He was up within a second running once more, hand to hand continued but with one big blow to the copy, she was sent flying through the air and landed with a thud, a loud and bone-cracking thud. The crowd yelled and cheered. Stay focused, everyone would know my power. I could win this. I had to stay focused. I was so close to him going out of bounds.
The copy tried to rise and fell once, then rose body swaying in not only exhaustion but pain. This was a hard illusion to keep up, a lot of changing and moving. I had to work harder, I was losing focus and my own body swayed. Shaking my head I looked back to them, Bakugou was smirking and walking slowly to the shaking figure. Now was the time, the copy looked around and then more copies appeared and the original disappeared.
“You won’t beat me” explosions so many explosions went off. I continued to make them, running at him. Flipping and disappearing before reappearing in different areas. Hit being made and then being exploded. I almost fell, this was a lot to take. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts and expanded the boundaries with each blow. Smoke clouding his vision. I look down at my real body, I was still in the boundaries, I was losing the sense of where I was. I needed him out of the boundaries. The original fake appeared on their knees and breathing heavily, then I noticed I was doing the same. This was a lot of energy to produce. Aizawa could see both the illusion and myself in reality. I stood up as did the copy though they held their arm.
“You and these damn illusions” he yelled and began to run, as did the copy trying desperately to make illusions to stop him. I was running on empty. I took the last bit of my energy to make a copy behind him that twirled in the air and sent a hard and powerful kick to his back. Sending him falling, his torso was out of bounds, the real ones. Immediately the illusion fell to ash as I swayed. Bakugou looked down as everyone was confused then saw me and it was silent. “It was all an illusion” he turned.
“Y/N made illusions inside illusions to make it seem like she was there though that whole match” Aizawa paused as did the crowd “she did not move” I could see everyone turn to my heavily breathing figure. Cheers and congratulations. “She allowed me to see but not the crowd to allow a sense of realism” another cheer but it was blurred in my ears.
“Bakugou is out of bounds. Y/N is the winner” Midnight called and I could hear the cheering murky and blur but I swayed. Bakugou turned and looked at me, he was angry but I watched his face softened as my eyes rolled back.
I could feel my body falling, I had gone far past my limit to win. I wanted to show everyone I could do this. To show even with a deceiving quirk I could still be a hero. I knew the cameras would see me just standing there so everyone would know how much effort it took to create such a show but within a second. My eyes rolled back and I fell, my body hitting the floor with a thud and I passed out. I used too much energy. Before all my senses faded I did see Bakugou running “Y/N” I heard the yell but I was gone.
I came too, I had been told I was out for about twenty minutes as my body regenerated. The award ceremony would be happening in the next ten minutes so I should get into position. I had also been told I was brought here by “My opponent with the spiking hair and angry look”, known as Bakugou. I had to thank him. I drank some water and devoured a protein bar.
I walked to the area here pillars of rock would move up to show the finalists and smiled seeing Todoroki and Bakugou there. “Hey” I called my voice small and my hand waved. Todoroki turned and smiled too, well it wasn't a smile more of a straight line, but more than a frown. I made my way up the steps and could hear Midnight calling to the crowd that the award ceremony would be complete in a matter of minutes. “Bakugou” he turned to me, face angry and arms crossed. “Thank you for a good fight and for taking me to the nurse”
“Whatever” he started and I nodded, I was trying to talk to make this a little less awkward. “I’ll just destroy you next year, I’ll get better and kill you” he yelled his head high and body tense. That was Bakugou. I could see Todorokis’ eyes roll in annoyance and I nodded.
“I look forward to facing you again” I smiled and then a copy of myself appeared behind him whispering in his ear “Bakugou” he turned and his arm went straight through the copy with an added string of curses. I couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“Y/N,” Todoroki asked and I turned nodded for him to continue “Why did you say Bakugou’s full name when fighting him,” he asked, he had noticed that. I flushed lightly and swatted my hand quickly.
“Well it’s apart of my quirk” I started and Bakugou seemed interested now, his gaze turning from the now gone copy to my eyes. “I can make anyone see an illusion but only the physical ones work when I know someone’s name” I added and they both seemed very interested now.
“You need to know someone full name for the physical attacks to work” Bakugou questioned and I also noticed Todorokis’ mouth closed as I was guessing he was going to ask the same question as to his classmate.
“No I need to know a name, whether it be the first name, last name, nickname, a name they go by, hero or villain name. When I was recommended I tried it on Aizawa not knowing his first name or last name, still don’t know his first name but my quirk worked, he doesn’t know nor do any of the teachers, I tested this myself. I just need to put a name with a face and since I go to school with you both” I created copies to stand behind them whispering in time “I know your names” they turned and Bakugous’ yell rang out as Todoroki looked at the copy.
“Now the awards” the copies fell into ash before disappearing as the pillars were hoisted into the stadium, the three of us standing in silence as if nothing had happened between the three of us just moments before. The crowd cheered and replayed the best parts of the festival. I looked up and saw all mine were just me standing there though they did add in the one where I fell as Bakugou was fighting my copies, did they have to show that. “And who better than to give the awards” Midnight shouted as All Might came into view.
Jumping down and landing in front of us I waited for my turn. “Todoroki, you battled well” he continued to go on and they had a little conversation I didn’t pry into, I just wanted this to be over, I was tired and needed rest. I had to go home after this, I could show my parents my victory, I wonder if they watched it. “Bakugou my boy, you sure went hard” they didn’t care when I got into UA so would they care about this. “Y/N” I heard my name and looked up seeing All Might. “Still off in your little world I see, you fought hard and it was smart not showing your quirk to the stadium and allowing Aizawa to see that Bakugou did leave the boundaries. Strategic, you’ll make a great hero someday” placing the medal around my neck I smiled and nodded, bringing me in for a hug I couldn’t help but hug back “Now we just need to work on your stamina” I nodded and the ceremony was over.
I looked down at my medal and smiled, I won the sports festival, this was the best day of my life. I sat and watched this for so many years and now I was the winner. We were told our parents were picking us up after the festival and I could see people waiting. I watched as my mother rolled up and got out of the car I walked over.
“Mum did you see me” I held my medal proudly in my hand while it was still around my neck. I didn’t notice people looking “Mum I won. I won the sports festival” she walked past me and signed off that she was here to pick me up, when walking back I smiled “Mum I won” I repeated with a smile showing off my medal.
With a dramatic sigh and a lift of her brows and sunglasses, she looks to me, then down at the medal  “Very nice dear, a medal. You participated, good for you” then she began to walk off. I could see the way people looked down or their parents looked to my own. This wasn’t the time or place to show my parental problems.
“Thank you Aizawa” I whispered and walked to the car, everything was silent. She thought it was a participation award after I had said I won. I had been waiting for this day since I first saw the sports festival and she didn’t even give me the decency to congratulate me. Getting in the car I closed the door and put my seatbelt on as we drove off. I didn’t miss the saddened faces of my peers. ________________________________________________________________ Chapter 2

Thanks For the Save - Kirishima x reader
Word count: 2,129
Warnings: nearly dying
A/n: I have not finished the Sports Festival arc yet, I just saw something on one episode, had the idea and thought "Hmm, it's his birthday soon!" I may go back and edit this later after watching more. I wish I could have written something that was about his birthday, but this is what I got for ya'll. Also it's also been a month since I got a tumblr account and started this blog. So it's my blog's 1 month anniversary along with Kirishima’s birthday.
~
"Sports festival?" You turned around to the girl who had mentioned it.
"The Sports Festival. Where the entire school showcases their abilities in games for everyone to see. One of the biggest events. It's also a great opportunity to be noticed by agencies," she added with a twinkle in her eye.
"I know what it is, who doesn't? But already?"
"Yep!" She bounced on her toes, causing her short brown hair to sway. Definitely one of the most peppy girls in the class.
Your breathing quickened at the news. This was it. This was your chance. You couldn’t afford to mess up. Of course. Your grades would suffer from training. But you never even wanted to end up in the business course in the first place.
"What do you mean?" You had fought the urge to stand up when you heard it.
The person in front of you stayed as calm as ever behind his wooden desk. "You failed the entrance exam. But, we believe you're better suited for the business course."
"The b-business course?" Your eyebrows knitted together in frustration. Your heart had a temper tantrum, only restrained by your ribcage.
"Your parents recommended it and are already beginning to fill out the paperwork. What do you say? We would be happy to have you."
Your hands clenched on your knees. Of course your parents wanted you to join the business course. They thought you weren't cut out for being a hero. That didn't stop you from taking the entrance exam, but clearly that didn't work.
Your mind raced. What were you going to do? What could you do? You didn't want this and it would be torture to go to the same building as the hero cou- wait! The Sports Festival! If you were in the school you could participate in the Sports Festival and get another shot! They would see they were wrong and that you did have talent. Plus you would have extra time to train, in secret of course.
The day had come. There were crowds of people spilling into the U.A. grounds, a strange sight as a student. The place almost seemed completely transformed, now feeling like a festival ground rather than a school. You were happy that in the past the security check weren't as strict.
"You know what? Sign me up."
There was another reason it felt different. When you were there as a spectator, it all felt lighthearted, a break, and your heart raced in anticipation for the games. It was racing now too, but in a mix of adrenaline and anxiety. You weren't sure if you liked it. What was once a fun place suddenly felt nerve racking.
What if you couldn’t do it? What if you blew your chance? What if you never became a hero?
You took a deep breath. You had to do this. You shook your arms in attempt to loosen them and relax.
It was time. The obstacle course had been chosen and everyone stood at the gate. Waiting for all three lights on the red gate to turn off.
Three
You took another deep breath.
Two
What if you couldn’t do this? What if you weren't cut out for being a hero?

No, you were! After all that training and hard work. You had to. You had this.
"Start!"
Instant chaos insued. Everyone pushed and shoved to make it through the gate. One person's elbow jabbed you in the face, causing you to temporarily forget about everything aside from the pain. You held your nose and snarl.
Why was it so narrow? You'd think-
That’s when it hit you. They were already getting the weaker students out of the way. You began to use your abilities and leaped over someone when a sudden burst of cold struck your skin. It caused you to flinch, and thus make a mistake that almost cost you your momentum. You focused all your attention on getting out, and only learned someone had frozen the ground from the blinding reflection on the road ahead and resounding complaints.
It was a constant struggle to even continue moving, feeling like you were giving your all to even keep up, but you managed to keep moving forward.
When it finally seemed to be letting up, the ground began rumbling. The vibrations tickled your feet. You began to slow down, looking around frantically to figure out what was causing it. For a second you were afraid that the ground was going to open up. You looked ahead and saw what it really was. It might actually be worse.
It was the faux villains, the robots from the examine that had haunted your dreams and invaded your thoughts. Your heart rate quickened. Your lungs took in more air. No. No. No. Not again. You couldn’t fail again. You weren't going to fail again.
The other students also froze at the giant robots towering over you. Rolling closer. Well, everyone except the half and half kid. He was already past the first layer of smaller bots and facing the ones the size of buildings. He waved his hand out. Instantly, ice climbed up the robot at a tremendous rate. Glittering ice spears covered it. A rush of white mist covered the whole area.
A thought suddenly struck you. The robot was frozen. And there was a mist, meaning maybe the smaller ones wouldn't be able to detect you. You could easily just run through. Before the chance left or the mist cleared, you began running.
The cold air enveloped you and nipped at your skin. It stung your lungs as you kept breathing it in. You didn't know if you ever ran that fast before. Through the mist, you spotted something solid coming towards you. Then a red light above it. You slid and dodged the robots arm just in time. Now to run right past or through the frozen robot.
You heard some kids yelling behind you.
"I wouldn't do it if I were you," you subconsciously heard. It was the boy who had frozen it. He was a lot farther ahead of you now.
Now you were paying attention.
"I froze them when they were unbalanced," he finished calling out.
Your heart dropped into your stomach. A look up confirmed the robot beginning to tip over in your direction. It was too late to turn back and you froze.
The very same robots present during your failure were tumbling on top of you to end your life. It felt like a nightmare you would've had. You hoped it was a nightmare otherwise your life might be cut short.
If you were in a movie, everyone would have screamed at you to run and called you stupid. You were screaming at yourself and calling yourself stupid. But your legs stayed motionless. It was happening to fast and slow at the same time. The green metal quickly approached you, but you still couldn-
"LOOK OUT!"
Suddenly you were tossed aside.
Something touched you, you flew through the air, then you tumbled onto the ground.
A crash resounded and you instinctively curled up on yourself and covered your head. You held your breath when a cloud of dirt washed over you. Once your heart slowed down a fraction and you could think again, it suddenly occurred to you that someone had thrown you and saved you. It nearly gave you a heart attack, between the panic of suddenly being in the air and the shock of falling coursing through you. But otherwise, you would be dead.
Wait.
Your eyes widened. "Oh no." That person was with you, where the you would have gotten crushed. They would be under the robot.
You got up and stumbled to the wreckage. Were they alive? Could you dig them out? Was it too late? This was all your fault, if you hadn't been in the way...
However, before you could even think of a way you could use your quirk to get him or her out, there was a crashing sound. You looked up to the source, just in time to see someone break out the top.
"Like I'd die!" A boy with spiky red hair yelled as be broke free. It may have been your imagination, but his skin appeared rock-like.
You breathed a sigh of relief when you saw him. You suddenly remembered a flash of red in your vision just before you were thrown, and his voice matched the warning you received just before.
He looked at the path ahead angrily. His mouth was moving, but you couldn’t hear what he was saying. You strained to hear what he was saying and managed to catch the end.
"She could have been killed if I weren't there!"
At that moment he looked to you. You suddenly felt put on the spot and tensed up. What should you do? Wave? Smile? Would that be weird? Your heart speed up as you panicked. His gaze softened when he looked at you. What was he thinking? Oh, you should probably thank him. Should you do that now? Would it be a good time or would that be weird?
Before you could decided. There was another crashing sound and a metal person popped out. This distracted him again and they both started running on top of the wreckage.
Oh, that's right! The race! You needed to get going. You couldn’t afford to lose! You couldn’t let almost dying be for nothing.
You seemingly scrambled to start running and felt like an out of control rock rolling down a hill.
You bit your lip as you looked in his direction. You would have to thank him later.
You spotted him later. You were walking around and your eyes scanned the people around you, but one caught your eye. You did a doubletake. Red spiky hair. It was him.
"Hey!" You called out before even thinking about it.
He turned to look at you and you suddenly felt put on the spot again. You stopped a few feet in front of him. ... What were you going to say again? Argh! Oh, right!
"I- uh, thank you," you blurted out before you could mess up. "Thank you for saving me, y'know, when the robot kinda fell." Curse your awkwardness of speaking to strangers your age!
His inquisitive expression changed to one of joy with a large toothy grin, showcasing his sharp teeth. "No problem. It was the manly thing to do. I'm really happy you're alright."
"Yeah, me too. Thank you." You already said that. "So, um..." Say something! What were you doing? "You're in the hero course?"
"Yup!"
"Awesome. That must be cool."
"It sure is. What course are you in?"
"Business course."
"Oh! Lots of smart business stuff I wouldn't understand?"
"Probably not. Though some of it is just logic. Though... I didn't want... to be there," you slowly admitted.
"Really?" He tilted his head. "Then why are you taking it?"
"Oh, my parents wanted me to do it. Thought I'd be more successful as that than a hero." You said it like it was all a joke. Like everything was fine. Maybe it was the fact that no one else asked about it, but you dropped the act and stared down. "I only agreed because I knew if I was technically in U.A., then I could participate in the Sports Festival. I could get another chance to be noticed and put into the hero course. I trained really hard for it too."
His gaze softened as he stared at you, absorbing every word.
"I... really thought the Sports Festival would be my second chance," you continued.
He stayed silent for a second. Then he put his hand on your shoulder. It caught your attention and you looked up at him. "Maybe you could train with me sometime," he suggested.
"Really!?" You took a step back. "You'd be okay with that? I don't wanna bother you." You brought your arm close to your chest. Why would someone in 1A want to be around someone like you?
"It wouldn't be a problem at all. I love to meet new people, especially if they have the same passions as me." He used his thumb to point to himself with the other hand on his hip. "So are you in?"
A smile grew, illuminating your face. Your whole body seemed to lighten from an invisible load. "Yes! I would love that! Thank you."
"No problem. By the way, I'm Kirishima. Kirishima Eijirou," he introduced himself as you walked off together.
You did the same and soon began falling into a conversation that felt so natural. The exchange was easy, seamless, and you laughed. The first real laugh you had in a long time.

Fighting and Flirting (Bakugo x Reader
Chapter 14: The Final Four
[Summary: You made it to the final four of the sports festival, but know it was time for the fight you had been preparing for throughout the entire day. How would you handle a one on one fight against Bakugo?]
Masterlist
Midoriya gets out of surgery and returns to the stands right after your match with Mina. You and Iida update him on what he missed while the match between Bakugo and Kirishima goes on. You’re relieved to see that’s he’s alright, but the look on his face tells you that something else is going on. Sadly, neither you nor Iida could really focus on that.
You had beat Mina pretty easily. She hadn’t quite seen what your illusions could do before, so it wasn’t very hard to confuse her. And then all you had to do was avoid the acid. She put up a decent fight, but you were trained for this already. Mina wasn’t.
Iida had beat Ibara in seconds. All he really had to do was push her out of bounds. You guessed she was really too surprised to fight back. Especially after her fight with Kaminari, who had yet to look you in the eye after you had ranted at him for the way he was talking about Uraraka.
After Bakugo won his fight against Kirishima the Final Four had been decided. Iida would fight Shoto and you would fight Bakugo. Something about it felt like this was the fight that the tournament had been building up to for you. You knew that everyone was more focused on the final fight, but you were really just here to measure yourself against Bakugo. You were confident that if it came down to you versus Shoto in the finals, you’d win. Especially since you were pretty sure he was back to just using ice. And you versus Iida would be pretty easy to think of a strategy for too. It was Bakugo that was your real challenge.
If you were to sit and think about it, you’d probably wonder what your real reason for being so focused on Bakugo was, but you didn’t have the time to focus on that. You had a fight to prepare for. And You figured you should probably pay a bit of attention to the fight that was happening first. Especially since Iida and Shoto were both your friends. You supposed they’d both appreciate you actually paying attention to their fight.
- - - - -
The fight started before you knew it. Bakugo was still sitting next to you, which surprised you since Midoriya had taken the seat on the other side of you. Both of them were incredibly tense, though you were sure that was for a variety of reasons. You were pretty tense, too, though you were more worried about Shoto. He was having a rough day, and you knew that you couldn’t really help him. At least, not while Endeavor was still around.
The fight was pretty fast-paced. It started with another ice blast from Shoto. You were sure that was going to start being a bit of a signature of his to most of the people watching. Iida dodged pretty well, though, and went at Shoto with an attack of his own.
You noticed that he activated his “Recipro Burst” like he did during the cavalry battle. That meant that after it wore off, he’d be frozen. That meant that no matter who was going to win, the fight was bound to end pretty quickly.
Shoto dodged the first kick, but the second one got him pretty hard. Midoriya cringed when he hit the ground, but you knew he’d taken worse. You had too. But when Iida starts dragging Shoto towards the edge of the ring, you wonder if it was really going to end that quickly.
However, before you knew it, Iida slowed down. Something on the engines in his legs sparkled a little, and it didn’t take you long to figure out that Shoto had frozen parts of his engines. Apparently, Iida figured it out too, but just a bit too late, as Shoto froze him completely.
The fight ended there, and Shoto was declared the winner. They talked for a little, though both of them looked pretty solemn. No one else really seemed to notice, but you were pretty sure that both of them had something on their minds.
“C’mon, Lightshow,” Bakugo cuts into your thoughts, “We should head down for our fight.”
You nod and the two of you stand, walking down to the waiting rooms together in silence.
- - - - -
You didn’t have enough time to really even process the fight between your friends before it was time for you to head out to face Bakugo. You wanted to prove yourself, but somehow throughout the day, you had become less aggressive about it. You still wanted to beat him, but you couldn’t say you hated him. Or even really disliked him. Maybe it was because throughout the games today you had begun to understand him a bit more.
He respected you and Uraraka enough to fight you without going easy on you just because you were girls. He helped you up to the stands after you had blinded yourself. He wanted to win, but he wasn’t as much of an asshole as he made himself seem like.
As you stood across from him, watching his stance to see if you can read his strategy, you know he’s not going to go easy on you. His stance was a bit more defense than you expected from him. You guessed he hadn’t seen you fighting style enough to know what to think, and you were sure he knew you were too clever to just let him rush in. That meant that he was going to let you move first so that he could counter.
The match was signaled to start and you moved, throwing a sonic boom at him to buy yourself a bit of time. He falls to the ground, giving enough time to set up your illusion. It’s a lot more complicated than anything you had used in a fight before, but you had practiced it enough in the weeks leading up to the festival that you hoped you’d be able to make it work.
You used your regular invisibility illusion first, in case the other illusions didn’t work. You quickly moved your own steps and moved away from your spot, quickly replacing yourself with a new illusion of yourself as a decoy. You weren’t sure how long it’d last, but you hoped it would save you long enough to get a few hits in. You made sure to make it look like your illusion was about to attack just before Bakugo got back up.
Bakugo stands, quickly moving to attack you, mistaking the illusions for the actual you as you had hoped. You make your illusion move and dodge as you try to find an opportunity to get a hit in. You finally get your chance as Bakugo queues up to try and hit your illusion again, which, up until that point had been dodging his hits flawlessly. Of course, that’s pretty easy for an illusion of light. His stance seems a bit off. You can’t tell if he’s getting sloppy because he’s getting frustrated, or if he’s losing focus, but it doesn’t really matter. You take a spot behind him without him knowing and sweep out his legs from under him.
You drop all of your illusions. Your ears were ringing from the sonic boom earlier and your vision was starting to get a bit blurry. You manage to pin him down, despite your lack of senses, and you make a point to make sure his palms are pressed against the ground, so all of his explosions would be aimed away from you.
“Impressive illusion there, light show,” He mutters, fighting against your grip, though you’re barely able to hold on. You’re not sure how much he means it, but you do know that he sounds pretty frustrated with his current situation.
“Aw, thanks, Bakugo,” You wink at him, as you attempt to shift your position, hoping to be able to drag him outside the boundary if you can get him into the right position. You’re a bit surprised as his face flushes red a little.
However, he takes your shift as a chance to break free, throwing you off of him, and standing back up. You quickly stand back up and get back into a fighting stance. You both take a second to catch your breath and attempt to think up a new game plan. The ring had already been torn up by Bakugo’s earlier attacks against your illusion.
Bakugo moves first this time, launching himself directly at you. His hands are ablaze with explosions, and as he moves towards you, you have to admit that they’re kind of pretty. When they aren’t being used against you, of course. You jump out of the way, scraping up your arm on the torn-up concrete as you land.
You continue on the defensive for a while, scratching up your hands and knees as you continue to land roughly on the concrete. Eventually, you finally gt a chance to make another move. Bakugo lunges at you directly, letting you flash a bright light in his eyes. He reels back a little in surprise and you pull him to the other side of you, his back facing the boundary of the fight zone. And before he can regain his footing, you plant a sidekick directly in the center of his chest, launching him back.
He almost stumbles out of bounds, only to catch himself just in time. You curse under your breath. You had really been banking on that move. Your vision was even more blurry and you had barely started to recover from the sonic boom. You could barely see at his point and your hearing wasn’t very good either.
He regains his footing, or you assume he does from the vague outline of his figure, and he rushes towards you again. You can see his explosions clearly, and launch yourself as far away as you can, landing on a bit of rubble, your hand landing directly on a sharp bit of concrete. You yelp as it cuts into your hand. The blur of red that enters your vision tells you that you’re bleeding.
Bakugo faces you again, getting ready for another attack. You know that you’re reaching your limit, so you really only have one shot left. You wait until he’s close enough to make your move.
One last flash of bright light effectively blinds you, and you grab for Bakugo’s arm to try and pull him. You’re close enough to the boundary that you think that if all of this works how you want it to, you’ll be able to throw him out of the ring. The muscle in his forearm seems tenser than it did just moments earlier in the fight. You wonder for a second if his quirk is reaching it’s limit soon too. He had used a few relatively big explosions earlier in the fight, so you supposed it wasn’t impossible.
You try to pull him, only for him to free his arm halfway through the movement. You’re already far enough into it that he can use your own motion against you. You feel your footing give out, and you cringe. You have no idea where the ground is, so you’re sure you’re going to hit it a lot harder than you’d like. You put your arms in front of your face in an attempt to protect it, but you still feel your nose crack when you hit the ground. You feel warm blood run down your face, and you start to taste metal.
You can hear Midnight say something to through the ringing in your ears, but you can only guess that she’s ending the match. She’s really too far away for you to know for sure.
“The match is over, Glowstick,” You hear Bakugo say next to you. He must be crouching right next to you as you pull yourself up, trying to wipe the blood away from your nose, but really on wiping the blood from your hand across your face too.
“I know,” You sigh, “Congrats.”
There’s a pause and you start to wonder why the teachers are letting you stay there for so long, but you really don’t have the energy to argue. Your muscles are screaming at you for all of the dodging, and your hand and nose are still bleeding.
“Can you see?”
His voice is softer than you’re used to. You know that no one else can hear it, but you’re sure that your class has noticed the interaction. You wonder what they have to say about it.
“No.”
“Can I help you up?”
He asks without hesitation, and you honestly find it kind of sweet that he asks before he touches you. You almost have to laugh at the change in personality, though. It’s such a sudden shift between the fight and now that you have to find it a little entertaining. Not that you blame him.
“Yeah,” You say, unable to hide the smile on your face, “Can you walk me to Recovery Girl’s office?”
“Of course, Dumbass,” You can almost hear him rolling his eyes as he gently pulls you to a standing position, “You think I’m just going to let you stumble there yourself? You’d probably break something on the way.”
“I’m pretty sure my nose is already broken, so I don’t know how much more damage I could do.”
“Whatever,” He grumbles. The two of you continue to talk as he walks you to the temporary nurse’s office. It’s a kind of banter that you had started to get used to, though something in it shifted a little. You just couldn’t figure out what.
- - - - -
FROM HIS PERSPECTIVE
The pang in his chest he was feeling looking at her blood-smeared face and hopelessly searching eyes wasn’t something Bakugo was used to. He wasn’t used to feeling guilty for losing fights. Or maybe it wasn’t entirely guilt? Maybe he just felt bad that she was hurt? But why?
This girl was confusing. He got to see her quirk up close like he wanted, but somehow he still wasn’t satisfied. Why was his brain still so focused on her? Why did he still want to be close to her? It didn’t have to do with her quirk anymore. He knew that. He’d gotten as close to her quirk as anyone. So why was his brain still asking questions about her?
What did she do outside of school? Why did she want to be a hero? Why did she keep talking to him, even when he was a dick? The questions started multiplying as he helped her to the office. Maybe it was just because the fight was so interesting. Or maybe it was because they were so close to each other right now. Did she get this close to people a lot? Did she stand this close to Icyhot when they were alone? What did they do together? Were they dating?
Why did that question make him want to punch someone so badly? Why did he care if Half-and-Half got to hold her hand on the way home from school? It really didn’t have anything to do with him if Todoroki knew what she smelled like when she wasn’t covered in sweat and blood. They’d be a decent couple, and it wasn’t like he had a say in the matter. They knew each other pretty well. They got along. Were they dating?
Why was he so upset at the thought? Who was he even mad at? Did it matter?
- - - - -
“What’s the deal with Icyhot, anyway?” He asked you as you sat in the nurse’s office. They gave him a bit of time between fights so he could recover. He was sitting with you as you waited for your vision to return. At least until it was time for the championship fight to start. You had a feeling you’d have to miss out on it.
“You mean why is he in such a bad mood?” You asked, “Or why is he only using his ice powers?”
“Either? The ice one I guess. Does he just think Deku is the only one deserving of him going full out?”
“No, that’s not it,” You start, a little surprised at the annoyance in Bakugo’s voice, “It’s a lot more personal than that. He’s not planning on using his fire at all. I don’t know what Kidoriya said to get him to change his mind, but I doubt it’ll happen again.”
“Deku does have a habit of meddling where he shouldn’t.”
“Yeah…” You sigh, “But don’t take it personally if he doesn’t use his fire on you. It’s not that he thinks you’re weak. It’s just that he’s stubborn as hell.”
He huffed a little and then went quiet. You wished you could see his face. Obviously he was thinking about something, but you can’t read how he’s feeling if you can’t see his face. You wondered if anyone else ever took the time to read his face. Or if they just assumed he was always angry. To be honest, he and Shoto were probably on about the same level of hiding emotions. You knew where Shoto got his skill from, but you couldn’t help but wonder with Bakugo. Was his home life as bad as Shoto? Did anyone know? Was there something else going on?
“Hey,” You said. You weren’t really sure if you were addressing him correctly or not. It’s hard to talk to people when you can’t see them.
“Hm?” He hummed. He still sounded like he was thinking. You wondered if he was in a bad mood or if he just had something on his mind.
“Thank you.”
You heard him suck in a breath. He sounded surprised a little. You didn’t think things really surprised him. You thought he’d have dealt with everything by now, growing up with Midoriya. “For what?”
“Not going easy on me,” You sighed, “You heard how Kaminari talked about Uraraka. Guys tend to go easy on girls because they think they’re too breakable to fight. Even Shoto used to go easy on me when we were kids. It’s hard to get any better at fighting when no one really tries to push you.”
“You guys fought as kids?” You weren’t really sure what to call his tone of voice. You hadn’t really heard it before. It seemed like a mix of confusion, anger, and something else you couldn’t name.
“Yeah,” You chuckled a little, “It was the only way I could convince his dad to let us hang out.”
You were sure he was going to say something, but you couldn’t tell what. And he got called away before he could. It was time for him to get ready for his fight with Shoto. You’d have to miss it, but you hoped one of your classmates would tell you what happened after. You really wondered who would win. Shoto was talented, but he was letting himself get held back by his relationship with his dad. On the other hand, Bakugo was incredibly strong, but he tended to get frustrated easily.
You had to be honest. You kind of hoped Bakugo would win. He wanted it more, and he wasn’t about to let something else get in his way. Shoto needed to learn how to do that. Maybe losing to Bakugo would help him realize that.
