was writing this on a gif set comparing Yaz's conversation about the Doctor with Jack in rotd and her one with Dan eotd but. it's the parallels.
how she does the same thing each time. The person (Jack/Dan) probes gently at the obvious feelings/connection Yaz has for the Doctor; then Yaz tries to shut them down with a quick flat comment that should have them backing off. You're getting a lot from a shove, and I don't know what you mean. Defence mechanisms. But Jack and Dan don't back off; they look and speak to her gently, because both of them understand the place she's in, and when confronted with that fact-
Yaz gives this look. It's like defeat - defeated in the fact that she couldn't lie better, that they've figured her out. and she turns to them and there's just this truth off her lips. this vulnerability. she doesn't pretend. doesn't dodge. just sighs out her feelings, I just missed her and is it that obvious? the same confession, a whole weight in just four words, and she's got this same air about her. this massive thing she's always carrying under the surface, cracked and let forth. Like the cloth falling off the final act, but it's just Yaz being honest about the con she's trying to run with herself, that she doesn't have to confront her own truth. that the Doctor means more to her than she wants to obviously admit.
idk. yet again, love Mandip's acting in those scenes, bringing the same reactions to such believable life.

Just fyi you do not escape the 'never looked at a female character in my life with my brain turned on bc they're a woman' misogyny allegations just because you lack malice towards that woman you pathologically mad effort to not pay attention to 🤦
The malice, whole concerning, is not the focal point of the lack of noticing women on screen. The malice in these situations is people too thick to realise They're not noticing women's stories and getting mad at bad writing for not having women's stories bc they don't comprehend that They are the one with the problem. Not noticing women's stories and not getting mad at it is doing Exactly the same thing as the first group and just having a different secondary reaction. You're not better than group A.
If you can only notice women having emotions and personalities when they're furiously screaming and rageful and/or (exuberantly) traumatized (or crying their eyes out, but 13 doesn't even get close to that) then like sorry but You are the problem. There are many people who noticed 13's personality and quirks and neurosis and bad behaviour in season eleven, people who clocked her accurately enough to make accurate predictions of where this would go because everything you need is there on screen if you deign to look.
However, if you can't comprehend women as creatures that do more than screech and scream like your average baby then yeah I'd get why you missed it, too.
Anyway, the above is Exceptionally funny bc even most of the painfully dismissive of women crowd noticed her losing her temper in spyfall with he master, and It was so over the top of a reaction from her that I cannot comprehend Not seeing that even if you are on the misogyny koolaid 🫣
Yikes lol some people just like to show their own asses so blatantly that it's objectively funny on top of being yack worthy

I very much doubt there's much chance of this, but is there anyone out there who is a fan of both Doctor Who (and especially/possibly the Gallifrey audios) and the Nevermoor series? As I have many au thoughts but no-one to share/discuss them with.
(if you are please message me)

my (as i realise) quite unpopular opinion now that i’ve watched it is that orphan 55 is a good episode. the darkest one of thirteen’s run up until that point, proper under the lake/before the flood vibes, and jodie acting the shit out of every scene. yeah some of the side characters may be cheesy (and what the hell was up with the feuding mother and daughter?) but they were kind of charming in a way, especially the catgirl and green-haired mechanic kid with his useless dad. not quite a downer ending but so much more gritty compared to anything from s11, with actual deaths and a potential catastrophic future for humanity

I think the companion that 13 had the best dynamic with was Ryan. He was the one they made the most effort to actually open up and get close to, and Jodie and Tosin were the best at playing off each other, but we only got it in a few short bursts, a tiny handful of moments spread across two seasons. At first it did seem like Ryan was being set up as the lynchpin of this particular group. He was the POV character, Graham's grandson and Yaz's school friend. Ryan was the one connecting them all, not the Doctor. The seed of his training to be a mechanic also made it seem like he'd be something of an apprentice to 13, but that was dropped almost immediately, and accepting Graham quickly became the main focus of his arc in season 11.

You know. Yaz got way more confrontational with 13 after the jail hiatus thing, which, okay, she was angry. But she also got way more confrontational after she saw Jack and 13 squabble and argue about plans and get In each others space and in general be a bit antagonistic, and then almost immediately revert to being easygoing friends again. Something that may have been very important to see for her.
Jack may have been Yaz's angel in disguise, lbr. He let her in on a lot, and not just by filling her in, just by interacting with the doctor as he normally would.

Yeah I can't find it on my blog or in my horrible reaction images folder on my phone or through various google searches, but I thought this was such a funny sentence that I wanted to remake it, but to be clear this wasn't my original joke
