Limiting the choice to the shows and movies I have seen/know of. I'm not asking who the first actor you have seem playing Arthur was, rather the one you instinctively think about when someone mentions him or the one closest to your heart.

"The Man in the Iron Mask" (1998) - Randall Wallace

Films I've watched in 2022 (78/210)
I love this film. The costumes, the actors, the score, the buckling of swash, it all just makes for a properly good movie.
The rock solid foundation of this film is the casting of the Musketeers; they are on an absolute equal footing when it comes to gravitas and character. A feeling that any of them set up against the other would be a fair fight, one which outcome you couldn't predict in advance.
You simply can't go wrong with the casting of John Malkovich (Athos), Gérard Depardieu (Porthos), Jeremy Irons (Aramis) and Gabriel Byrne (D'Artagnan); they each bring so much to their roles, and, unlike in a lot of Musketeer films, they all feel equally important, like good friends with a symbiotic relationship; four essential quarters of a whole, rather than what it so often is: two or three really good ones and one or two who are very forgettable. (The 1993 version came close, but falls a bit flat with Chris O'Donnell's D'Artagnan.)
The less said about DiCaprio, the better...
And the final battle... Nope, I don't think I'll ever be over that.

Things I like about the Children of Dune miniseries
The direction is VASTLY improved. Brian Tyler’s score is epic and Inama Nushif is fantastic.
James McAvoy is an absolutely perfect Leto II.
Alice Krige IS Jessica capturing the coldness, flaws but also loving mother and woman Jessica is supposed to be.
Susan Sarandon is a fucking delight as Wensicia, I could listen to her politically scheming all day.
I’m not super impressed which Jonathan Brüün’s acting but love the re-write they gave Farad’n’s character. His character is one of my biggest issues with the book personally.
Daniela Amavia is also excellent as Alia, capturing the tragedy, vulnerability and paranoia of the character and her death scene is one of my favorite especially given how it parallels her introduction in the original miniseries.
I don’t want to chainsaw Edward Atterton in half as Duncan???? Unlike his book counterpart.

"The Hunchback" (1997) - Peter Medak

Films I've watched in 2022 (183/210)
The main trio (Patinkin as Quasimodo, Harris as Dom Frollo, Hayek as Esmeralda) is very good, and Jim Dale as Clopin has a good balance in his "dual" role of the fool later revealed to be the King of Truands.
Mandy Patinkin plays Quasimodo with great warmth, humor and vulnerabilty, and his prosthetics are very good. Salma Hayek is vibrant, sensual, empathetic and strong as Esmeralda. Richard Harris's Frollo is a man whose whole world has been shaken to its very core by the feelings Esmeralda stirs in him; his subsequent actions (violent but not in a sexual way) are absolutely not defensible, but you can understand why he does the things he does, and nearly pity him. Nearly. I do also like the fact that he seems to have genuinely cared for Quasimodo, to have taken him in from a genuine wish to protect him.
Full film: (The picture quality isn't too good in this video, but if you can get past that I definitely recommend checking it out.)
