Some time ago i almost bought an overpriced, second hand harmony: set in album with all Jiung inclusions (cause i really love his photocards in that album) but i didn’t.

And now i bought a brand new album at a cheaper price and it has two Jiung cards!!!

“You did so well”

It’s the way whumper says it—the way they speak to whumpee. It’s their voice—half the time angry, biting, and degrading, only to mutate into something sickeningly sweet in the aftermath of the pain, when whumper leans in close with sticky murmurs of affection—of mocking praise.

A toxic, slimy liquid that drips from whumper’s lips and oozes thick and heavy down whumpee’s ears and neck and shoulders.

It makes whumpee’s skin crawl. 

Or at least, it did.

At first. 

But there comes a point, during the more creative of whumper’s tortures, where the pain becomes too much, where the excruciating burn of the knife or the sear of the brand is blacking out whumpee’s brain and shoving their head deep underwater, shrinking their existence down through a tiny pinhole, only to be materialized again on the other side, dazed beyond belief, panting and shaking and still bound in whumper’s arms. 

It’s those precious few moments of reprieve in the aftermath, where the warmth of whumper’s shoulder against their cheek is enough for whumpee to sink into it— For their teeth to unclench, for their shoulders to slump against whumper’s torso, for their shaking knees to crumple into whumper’s lap.

For each part of them to give up—to give in— until they’re spilling hot tears into the fabric between shaking, heaving breaths, staining whumper’s shirt with the small beads of blood that still weep from their bitten lip.

Whumper only holds whumpee’s head tightly against their shoulder and let’s them ride out the sobs.

‘ again ? ’ you might be asking , to which I will reply ‘ yep ’

summary: the group realizes that Tang knows the Keres, and deems him finally useful. Tang tries to convince himself of being worth anything (he’s failing).

warnings: low self-esteem, I was in the mood to describe some wounds graphically, picking at skin, being chained

Tang sat on the floor, staring down at his hands, picking at the scabs that had begun to form on the wounds circling his wrists.

He was tired. Really, really tired.

A shadow darkened his vision. Tang looked up, forgetting for a second that he didn’t need to be scared. It was Wukong.

“Uh, hey, Tang-man,” the Great Sage said, awkwardly rubbing his neck and sitting down next to Tang. “We were wondering if you could tell us anything about the Keres?”

Tang was having trouble looking at Wukong. It wasn’t an issue of admiration this time. He was scared of everyone in the T.E.A. now.

He wouldn’t say ‘scared’, but he was on edge. He felt less nervous around the Keres. Then again, the Keres had only hurt him physically.

“I don’t- I’m not sure,” Tang admitted, staring at his hands. “They mostly just kept me in the throne room. I know that they, uh, they can’t kill anyone.”

He nodded to reassure himself.

“Just wait for death. Around battlegrounds and stuff like that. I’m not sure of their powers. They can take powers, though. Drain them.”

Tang’s hands were shaking again. Without his powers, he was essentially useless.

Well, he still had his powers. Not a lot, though. They’d drained almost everything, it would take a while to get it back.

Wukong nodded, leaning down, trying to meet Tang’s gaze, but the latter’s gaze was fixed on the floor again. He’d memorized it by now. The patters and the cracks. He could probably draw it.

Tang didn’t draw anymore.

Wukong stood up and walked back to his seat, looking dissatisfied with the information he’d received.

Oh, no. Oh, no no no no no. How could he disappoint his idol. Ex-idol? He didn’t know what he felt about anyone anymore.

Tang looked down at his hands and saw blood. He’d managed to pick off one of his scabs, and it was a big one.

He’d almost rather having the chains again; at least they were cold. Soothing, when it didn’t hurt worse than death, and when he wasn’t being forced to the ground.

Tang sighed and tugged his sleeve up over his wrist.

“Hey, Tang, do you wanna come sit with me and Mei?” MK called, drawing Tang’s attention and gaze. Mei didn’t seem as mad as before.

Tang hesitated, hands still shaking slightly. Slowly, he nodded and stood up.

“I’m sorry,” he said, almost immediately after sitting down. He felt like he couldn’t apologize enough.

“Tang, it’s alright,” Mei said, a small smile on her lips. “I would do anything to protect you guys.”

Tang looked at Mei and forced a small smile. It wasn’t as hard as it was last time; to look at her or to smile.

“Thanks,” he said softly. “It’s… not alright, though.”

Mei glanced at MK. She didn’t seem to have a response to that.

“Well, we were making some drawings,” MK said, smiling. “Wanna draw with us?”

Tang looked over at Pigsy for a second. He hadn’t said anything yet.

“Uh, sure,” Tang finally answered, taking the paper and pencil from MK. He was trying not to be rough. He’d never been rough before, but… you never know.

Drawing hurt his wrists, but he tried anyway. He didn’t want to disappoint anyone.

The T.E.A. was silent as the three of them worked. The line work was shaky, but when Tang showed the drawing to Mei and MK, they seemed to enjoy it.

Smiling wasn’t hard, this time.
