This was actually my piece for Tennocon this year, but I wasn’t able to scan it in time and got discouraged. Well, I got over it and cleaned it up a bit, so here it is. Eidolon Natah from the New War done in glow in the dark acrylic paint, under normal light and then under a blacklight. It’s about 12x18... ish, just done on a piece of black cardboard because I’m fancy like that.

I need to give such a shout out to Warframe artists for making the entire sentient ship tileset and sentient faction a bunch of the most yonic imagery I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s literally all vaginas, period blood and uteruses. Pelvises and pelvic bones of varying kinds. Every fucking door and most of the decorations literally just look like vaginal openings. I swear to god I’m not joking, look at this shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And let’s be clear, it’s completely on purpose. The entire story of the sentients is centred around childbirth and sterility, the desire to have children and raise them, fuck even hunhow has a womb as of Jade shadows. The original eidolon wanted the unum’s light to restore its fertility. Lotus has quite possibly one of the worst cases of baby fever in the history of gaming. Literally the fucking containers on the tileset are meant to evoke the image of a pregnant sentient. The entrance to the murex is a god damn vaginal opening and it’s not even subtle. Or maybe the SPAWNING POOL OF WRITHING BLOOD THAT DEFINITELY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERIODS WINK WINK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry if the images are dogshit, I’m on my phone and can’t find/get better ones right now but seriously if you go look at the official concept art you can make an entire drinking game out of taking a shot every time you see something with vagina/uterus vibes. In fact you can actually do that with the entire art book for Warframe, it’s really funny actually, this game is the opposite of Berserk’s constant phallic imagery, this shit is yonic city fr.
Anyways, all this to say, they put a straight up vagina with a clitoris on stalker’s face and it wasn’t even subtle but most hilariously, almost definitely not intentional yet retroactively way too fitting with the rest of this game’s art aesthetic and the faction he joins.

The 1999 combat theme and its foreshadowing because the autism got to me and I spent too long trying to figure out this soundtrack
Jumping off from @brokenjardaantech's WITW music analysis post here - go check it out, it's very insightful and lays the foundations for what I'm about to talk about! And thanks to @theterribletenno for the burst of inspiration by giving me a massive oh shit realisation in the most chilling way possible LOL
Spoilers under the read-more; TL;DR at the end :'^D
To preface, the soundtrack is structured in an ABC structure with bridges between A and B, as well as another between B and C that borrows from A. The key starts in Cm, briefly modulating to Gm in section B then back to Cm during the second bridge, and settling on Em for section C. In-game for WITW you most likely will only hear up to the first bridge since the Technocyte fight only goes for around a minute long
Sections A, the bridges and partially C feature genre similarities to grunge rock with fuzzy guitar chugging, whammy bar, and palm muting, while the drums are notably sharp snares (except for the first bridge, which are clean bass kicks that gradually distort transitioning into section B's style). Musically, it sounds like a typical fighting soundtrack meant to hype you up - the melody is confident and likes to push and pull its rhythm. But in section C it notably become emptier in its layering while keeping the distorted drums, placing emphasis on the lyrics (which I'll get to below lol). Heavier syncopation and polyrhythms are also introduced.
Section B however is the main outlier. This section is where it most strongly resembles industrial rock: rhythmic synth layers begin to accompany the melody (a pedal point line that plays every semiquaver/sixteenth note), synth drums replace acoustics and the guitars drop the fuzz that is characteristic of grunge and steadily strum every quaver/eighth note. Compared to the push and pull rhythm of section A, this section is steadier, less chaotic than the other sections, it wants you to focus on this section.
Notably, the lead guitar introduces a familiar leitmotif: This is What You Are (which @brokenjardaantech goes more in depth regarding its use in WITW). Here, though, its second chord becomes flattened (Dm -> D♭m) and introduces a diminished, dissonant sound. To me this was the first hint that the song may actually be about Arthur's downfall. This is What You Are is a musical leitmotif that recurs in moments of vulnerability, especially when someone is at risk of losing their sense of self, their identity and what they are. It plays during The Second Dream when we discover the Operator, during the New War when Eidolon!Lotus just lost herself to Ballas and can't recognise the Tenno, and in WITW during the Vessel "fight" when the Tenno is forced out of their Warframe.
I was prompted to actually dig more into the lyrics because I saw @theterribletenno bring up something really interesting
Tumblr media
In this specific song, the leitmotif is diminished, it's corrupted. "Surrender to the corruption" - this is what Arthur is afraid of. I brought up earlier that section B had a genre shift. The contrast of the music is important, it's highlighting something, and together with the musicality of the leitmotif, it's making a sense of urgency and danger. The leitmotif is a warning to Arthur.
Section B sings these lyrics:
Break it, break it, Break it open!
Compared to the desperation in the other lines, these two lines are sung mockingly. The Infested are trying to break Arthur, and are succeeding. Their voice is becoming his. But there are actually two vocal lines in this section - you can also hear muted backing vocals in a much less aggressive and lethargic tone warning that "Disillusion". Arthur is trying so hard to keep his own voice and stay clear-minded but it's being drowned out and he's nearing his breaking point, and Albrecht, based on the Codex Fragments you find, is well aware of this.
In section C, while the layering is less intense it's noticeably more heavily syncopated and polyrhythmic, and introduces new (accompanying) echoing and dissonant synth layers reflecting the confusion and disorientation that Arthur begins to feel (these synth layers are actually introduced in the second bridge, but are more easily heard in section C). Section B and C also keep the synth/distorted drums that section A and both bridges lack (at most it's a reverb in those sections); the industrial sound of the song becoming associated with the increasing influence of the Infested over his humanity.
So I tried deciphering more lyrics for each section; I haven't figured all of it out and most of it could very well be wrong because of how heavily clipped the vocal line intentionally is so I don't want to make anymore assumptions than I need to, but I can understand enough of it to realise that the song is foreshadowing Arthur's corruption to the Infested. In green are the lyrics I'm confident are correct:
A:
Sting it, sting it, sting it! Sting it, sting it, sting it in the flesh!
Bridge:
I don't understand! It brings more disease!
B:
Break it, break it, Break it open! (Disillusion)
Bridge:
Sting it, sting it! Sting it in the flesh!
C:
Who's dreaming? Who's the [???] It's a vision[?]!
TL;DR: the grunge/industrial genre hybrid represents Arthur's humanity/Infested respectively, and the song becomes increasingly industrial as the song progresses, most noticeably through the increasing distortion of the drum sound. Section A sets the stage, section B serves as a warning to Arthur that he's losing his sense of identity as the Infestation drowns out his "voice" while a dissonant version of This is What You Are plays, and section C is him experiencing confusion and disorientation as the Infestation continues to corrupt him.

I recently brought another Lotus skin, the Eidolon Skin. I had no idea she had a unique detail in her voice being corrupted! She has this extra static sound compared to Natah skin I normally use.

Hey can we talk about the fact that during the new war, natah/lotus/margulis is an eidolon and yet she still takes the drifter's gun and the drifter takes it away from her??? Like she sensed that her friend was home and wanted to play with them by stealing their stuff even when she was slowly dying

— Farewell, oh Narmer…
Tumblr media
So, I’d say it’s a may-I-present-to-you-my-post-narmer-au-ballas artwork
When The Man in The Wall appeared in front of the three figures on the platform of the mothership neither Lotus nor Tenno would be bothered by a sudden disappearance of the unconsciously lying body of The Golden Lord of Lies. That’s it. He was no more. Or wasn’t he?
Technically, The Golden Lord was truly no more. However, there was another one. Not “the” Ballas this world has known, but “a” Ballas.
Finding himself in the debris of the Plains of Eidolon after encountering the Void anomaly the Orokin manages to finally take off the veil. He was able to do it not due to his own power of will or some sort of other mind-strengthening things but because the veil simply didn’t show him anything. Just pure black darkness.
One can be influenced by the Narmer Veil as soon as it gets access to their memories, but what’s the sense of it when there are no particular memories in a head? Just some blurry images of the past of long-long times ago and some basic stuff as, for example, that fish cannot live without water or that The Man in The Wall is now well aware of his existence and the fact that he KNOWS the knife is held in the right hand and the fork goes to the left one.
This AU takes place not much later after the new war ending, when the threat of Narmer has already been suppressed but it is still possible to witness all the terrible aftermaths of this war and at the same time right after the Tenno’s mission with The Cavia on Deimos.
For them it was still such a strange thing to realize that Lotus didn’t remember even a tiny detail about the mysterious “Wally”. It could at least help them in some way.
Seeking for alternative ways of dealing with the eldritch abomination they soon find themselves on The Earth’s orbit looking at the blue-blue planet through the round porthole of their Orbiter. It was time to get down and look for some handy resources on the familiar plains and so Tenno decided not to waste their time and visit The Earth for another time.
That’s it. The Plains of Eidolon, a perfect place to find some abandoned and partially destroyed fragments of alien technologies which they liked a lot. The New War left its print on the Cetus’ surroundings as for now they were full of wrecked ships, weapons and war machines.
The only thing in that landscape was out. Something house-like on the top of another half-blown hill. Tenno, guided by curiosity, then comes closer, interested in what could be hidden behind the improvised fabric-made doors.
Their gun ready but there’s no one inside. Just some… more improvised interior furniture… pots, rare plants, looking poorly watered and half-dead because of the owner’s lack of knowledge in such an area as gardening. Oh, and yes, a pile of various technological pieces, gadgets and guns, taken straight away from the plains
And a Narmer Veil. The disgusting, bucket-like headpiece lying in the corner near something that could be a bed.
— Who of sound mind would even like to keep this thing like that…
Whispered Tenno, already planning to leave the house they were not invited in
— But of course exceptions exist anywhere! Even when it comes to keeping this funky thing undamaged. I heard locals hate these ones horrendously.
How reckless of Tenno it was not paying attention to the things happening around… panicking, they raised a gun with their trembling arms. Trembling from pure, firing fury.
— And you say i am difficult to get rid off-
They hiss in anger but only meet a shocked gaze of the pair of different-looking eyes. An illusion, another anomaly, could be… but the sensors show no alarm…
— I’m sorry, do we know each other?
Another strange question from a person, who, as Tenno thought, could answer any question existing with ease. How could that even be…?
— I think… just mixed up with a wrong person, i guess.
— Well then, let us get acquainted. Name’s Ballas.
He stretches out his ridiculously long arm, patiently waiting for a handshake as if nothing happened. Or maybe for him, the present him, nothing has happened indeed.
— Tenno.
Quickly answers the operator right before running out on the fresh air. They definitely need a few hours of free time to think and some cool wind to calm their aroused mind. All of these and not a handshake from a man who nearly destroyed everything they have ever loved for one more time. Even if he is not who he used to be. The handshake… yes, it will definitely wait. As well as that tall perplexed silhouette, whose strangely-looking sentient-like legs were still seen through the half-opened veil-door, tapping out some uncomplicated thuds as the un(known) man was still greatly confused about what had just happened

which archon shard do you think would make the best improvised weapon
like imagine if your warframe had to pull the archon shard out of its chest to use as a sword like weapon, itd be kinda fucked up and could be a cool concept to use across a bunch of characters archon boreal is already a bird character with a shard lodged through his chest, itd just be a step further for him to combine it with korumm imagine a warframe fighting another warframe in the void using archon shards pulled from their chests as they try to destroy the others source of power
imagine if there was a version of lotus out there from another timeline (eternalism) with an archon shard permanently through her chest who was like a fucked up eidolon version of lotus that everyone in universe saw as like less important than the main version of lotus
what if there was a plot point about fusing archon shards to form an alternate flashing amber/emerald archon shard that could be used to beat wally archon shards could be used to resurrect more like dead sentients, pazuul is already this, they used it to bring him back after erra died and combined him with the ram head of pazuul archons could even lose their shards and it could be like a way to show them as new/progressed versions of the characters, or even better they could do like a father-son relationship thing where hunhow and a version of erra/pazuul fight together against a bigger threat! archon shards have so much narrative potential guys ^_^ theyre so cool. i just had these ideas out of nowhere but theyre probably pretty cool itd be great to see some of then done in the narrative!

For Juno: the second dream & the sacrifice, and for Narin: once awake & erra
[warframe oc asks]
Juno
The Second Dream: How did they react to awakening from the Second Dream? Did they remember that they were themselves, or did they think that they were their warframe?
They were very alarmed and distressed to wake up to say the least. They absolutely thought they were their warframe (specifically Nezha (prime) bc my hc is that the operators have Their Frame (at least until they get Umbra) since the warframes were individuals it seems weird to me if multiple tenno are collecting them like pokemon (the blueprints and foundry pieces are not canon to me sjk;lgn i like it more if they're unique to each tenno even if that's not the case)) and hardly remember anything from before. So it was extremely disorienting to suddenly be seeing what they thought was Their Body from the outside. For a while, even after the war within, they were very like... dissociated from their own body and didn't like exiting the warframe at all because it just felt Wrong. They're settled in themself now and are outside of their frame quite a bit.
The Sacrifice: What does family mean to your character? Do they have a family- biological or otherwise?
Family to Juno means those who take care of each other and are there for each other. They have no biological family, their parents were killed on the Zariman (not by them, they didn't participate in that) and they had no siblings. They'd consider Ordis family. Lotus was there but she's on. extremely thin ice with them right now. All their various pets are family. Nezha is family. Teshin is family, honestly.
Narin
Once Awake: What are your character's thoughts on the Infestation? Have they ever seen it in-person before?
He has seen it, because Juno has a helminth charger that they bring around sometimes. He's interested in it in the same way that I'm interested in parasites and such. Like a morbid fascination but he'd prefer if it stayed over there away from him thank you very much. Except Juno's charger. Barkspawn gets tummy rubs. I don't think Juno's told him the warframes are technically infected
Erra: Have they ever seen a Sentient before? How did they react?
He's seen an eidolon, which I think are sentients iirc. Didn't get close, obviously, but you know he's a kid so there's definitely been at least once that he snuck out at night and watched one from a distance. I think he finds them kind of sad, just by the noises they make.
