Liminal attempt toward understanding Magic: The Gathering's different magic types and their associated biomes. Basically I just want to understand why these 5 and what makes them distinct from each other, using the lens of real world energy types.

White -- Plains -- Sun -- Radiation. Magic comes from the true source and center of life. The sun is unreachable, yet it engenders and defines us. It gives us a small taste of raw, pure creation.

Red -- Mountain -- Fire -- Thermal. Energy emerges from the mantle and cores of the planet itself, convexing alongside the heat that travels out to surface.

Blue -- Island -- Water -- Mechanical. Magic is in the cycling movements of waves, and in the energy traveling through a solvent/medium. Also from the planet, not the heart but the lungs.

Green -- Forest -- Life -- Chemical and Kinetic. Energy collection, storage, organization, the creation of potential by staving off entropy. Magic, though everywhere, is released in the gradients, in movement.

Black -- Swamp -- Death -- Heat. A magic not so far from Life. It is the final exhale, the gentle upgiving of energy as a body gives over to inevitable entropy. Chilling magic. Tired magic.

Idk how well these match up with any established canon, but I'm satisfied with this set of magic-energy types :) Will use this to inform how I engage with MTG lore in the future.

Real shit I’m doing EE too. RLC circuits lowk made me lose my mind (I haven’t taken anything EE related yet other than 1 programming course since I’m a freshman. I’m learning different types of mf circuits in PHYSICS man). I was like HUH when I learned how LC circuits were used in making tube lights. one part of the process was “okay a bunch of electrons gets pushed through a cloud of mercury gas inside the tube which lights up the thing.” And I was like. Bro that shit is magic. (Ik chemistry and electricity can be intertwined at times I just know Jack shit about chem lmfao).

Also saw a funny video of electro boom messing with a fluorescence light tube. He was like “Hmmm connecting two wires to both ends like a normal person doesn’t light it up but holding it next to a Tesla coil does!” Holding the tube like how a confused wizard holds a wand wondering why his spells aren’t working. (Hint it’s lighting up bc electromagnetic induction WOAAHH)
