I’ve…actually been thinking about checking out some poetry meets. There’s a pretty big art scene in Theed.

I’ve thought about it for a long time, actually. Ever since I moved here. I’ve just never actually gone for it because, well, I didn’t have any time in college. But, also because, uh…I’m…kinda…shy.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, you’re sooo shocked! Ben? Ben Solo? Why, my online presence just exudes utter coolness and debonair charm!! I’ve been to countless college parties and I was the life of every single one of ‘em! (Fact check: I was eating bugs, saving my drunk friends when they said stupid crap to women, and making up imaginary girlfriends so I wouldn’t get hit on)

I’m such an awkward dude in real life. Sooo awkward. Like, sure, I’m better now than when I was a teenager—but buddy you have NO idea how low of a bar that is. Don’t ever meet me. You’d freaking hate me. And then I’d cry, and then that would be a whole thing…

But…I guess…I’m afraid. Afraid that other people are better writers than me. Afraid that other people are cooler than me. Afraid that other people are more popular than me and more likable and more interesting and more—more EVERYTHING than me—and yeah, I know, that’s not the point, but…still…

And…getting up in front of people and reading my stuff? Sounds scary. I’m fine posting my stuff online. And I’m fine reading my stuff aloud when I’m alone. I’m even fine recording my stuff and posting it online and then pretending like I didn’t. But…but…performing my work…in person…in front of an audience…even a small one……..ahhhhhhhhhh (that is the sound of me screaming softly into the void…)
