Back in 2018 I started doing fantasy character commissions, and posted this character as one of my first example pieces. I decided to redraw her to see if I'd progressed and learned anything since. And like... I think so? I've included the original to compare. What do you guys think?

The Triumphant Return of Basil MoonGrove! Whose campaign was tragically cut short due to many real life happenings with everyone playing. 

Its been years, but she’s finally back! (by way of clinging to a boulder that a Hill Giant hurled at the party)

She doesn't know what's going on! She’s missing a chunk of her memories! She’s clearly made some enemies with these Hill Giants! I’m sure its fine!

She’s an original character, though I don’t know who she is. I imagined a sentry to a mountain pass that leads to an isolated elven fort or settlement.

[after Alessa asks everyone whether or not should get her memories back]

“I don’t know what the play is here, but I trust you and I think I also trust whoever it was that you were…if that makes sense? Because even if you can’t understand it now, it’s still you and, I mean, there’s no one that I trust more.” — Atticus

In the last Heptadia session, Alessa and Atticus confronted their friend Alessandra about what was in her journal. They wanted answers about their daughter and with her being the one who altered and removed their memories, it’s only natural that she probably had them right?

Well, not only did Alessandra confirm that she knew their daughter, but she gave them both back the memory of a wedding - her wedding.

After reliving it again, not only did Alessa see both her mothers, but she also learned that Alessandra was their daughter after all. This of course led to crying and a heartfelt reunion until they learned that the individual known as “The Clock,” who almost killed Alessandra and was still hunting her, was actually her husband and Alessa’s son-in-law.

His consciousness was transferred to a clockwork body when his lycanthropy became uncontrollable, and the only solution was to kill his mortal body. Now he’s seeking revenge against the people who did it out of mercy - his wife and her adventuring party.

Determined to protect their daughter, Atticus sets off to track their son-in-law and gain some intel on his location. Before he leaves, Alessa gives him a proper kiss and made him promise her that he would stay safe. He promised and left, then Alessa proceeded to take forever to say goodbye to Alessandra after apologizing to her for not being there for her husband when they needed her.

All of this happened after she gave them both three daffodils that she druidcrafted: two large ones and one small one. It means three simple things - forgiveness, new beginnings, and rebirth.

Now my little family is separated again and I miss them…but I know they’ll be together again soon when they achieve the goals they set out to finish. Who knows? Maybe Alessa and Atticus will even renew their vows 💚🤍
