Do you live with a disability? Or are you close to someone who does? . After all the research I did for KNIFE, I thought I knew a fair bit about mobility and accessibility issues. But when my father needed to use a walker and then a wheelchair, I learned so much more about the challenges that wheelchair and other mobility device users face on a regular basis. Sometimes I felt angry for my Dad’s sake, seeing how little thought is often given to the needs of people who can’t slip easily through narrow doorways or climb stairs. . Anyway, July is Disability Awareness Month, and I’ve got a post up at Go Teen Writers today about including disabled characters in our storytelling. So here’s a stack of books from my own library that feature protagonists with various kinds of disabilities. They’re all good, and many of them are personal favourites of mine. But we need a lot more! . . . #disabilityawareness #disabilityinclusion #disabilitypridemonth #disabledlivesmatter #loismcmasterbujold #thewarriorsapprentice #anneursu #therealboy #meganwhalenturner #thequeenofattolia #queensthief #francescoxstork #marcelointherealworld #elizabethewein #elizabethwein #thelionhunter #leighbardugo #sixofcrows #yalovin #yareads #ireadya #bookstagram #bookish #bookstack #bluebooks #bluebookstack #blueandcream https://www.instagram.com/p/CCwrpJjAV1X/?igshid=lv0jygyc7nzo

‘“Kiss me, Hardy!’ Weren’t those Nelson’s last words at the Battle of Trafalgar? Don’t cry. We’re still alive and we make a sensational team.’ - Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. . . . . This is a book I’ve read in halves but goodness it’s one I’ve enjoyed. I find sometimes you get those books that you don’t mind reading over long periods of time, because they sort of fit a feeling of certain times of the year (for me war times stories often fit October/November months), and the story just sticks with you throughout the year and when you pick it up again, you’re back in there with the characters and on with the story you go. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this thrilling, meaningful and important book about friendship, the sacrifices that were made during the war and the importance of remembering the people who have given us the lives we lead today. Part based on real life eventualities of the war alongside a fictional yet believable storyline, I really have loved reading this book told from the perspective of two brave and brilliant women. I’ve not read a wartime spy novel quite like it. I can’t wait to read more from this author. 📚 . . . . #CodeNameVerity #ElizabethWein #Fiction #WorldWar2 #Bookstagram #WinterRead #AutumnRead #LeastWeForget https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Y_vSug91q/?igshid=1c9nyb30v5dov

I went to #mckaysnashville this morning with a #list of 41 books I wanted. I walked out with 8. I found about 8 others there, but I could buy them brand new for as much or less. There’s more classics in this #bookhaul than I expected; however, I am excited to begin collecting for my #2020bookproject #agathachristie #jenniferashley #elizabethwein #louisamayalcott #alexandrabracken #charlottebronte #emilybronte #bookstagram #bookworm #reviews #writersofinstagram #writer (at McKay's) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1jfRw_n-c7/?igshid=15fbhxs26hjxm

Another favourite! As a former history major I am a sucker for any World War II book and Code Name Verity is hands down one of the best I have ever read. I am always looking for more stories of women's experiences during significant points in history so give me your recommendations in the comments! #codenameverity #elizabethwein #yareads #youngadult #historicalfiction #feministfiction #bookstagram #bookworm #booklover #bookobsessed #bibliophile #readinginraincouver https://www.instagram.com/p/Btz751WH8yN/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=14qkqay4997c0

A stunning story of pearls, love and murder... out today in the UK!
The Pearl Thief is the brand new book from Elizabeth Wein, the internationally acclaimed author of Code Name Verity. A wonderful mystery novel set in Scotland in the glamorous 1930s, The Pearl Thief has all the suspense of an Agatha Christie and the intrigue of Downton Abbey.

♥️✌🏻#Book #books #livro #livros #instabooks #instalivros #lovebooks #amolivros #amoler #euamoler #mysecretbooks #bookstagram #booklover #bookblogger #bookaholic #CodinomeVerity #CodinameVerity #ElizabethWein #EditoraID

It's not often that I recommend books but these two take the cake at the moment these books are about friendship and bravery and knowing oneself. Code name Verity is honestly one of the most beautiful books I've read in a really long time as well as Rose Under Fire. The thing about Code name Verity is that it has such poignant friendships between Verity and Maddie. As well as in Rose Under Fire with Rose and Roza, Karolina, Lisette, Anna all these amazing beautiful women that come alive on the page. #book #worldwar2 #historicalfiction #elizabethwein #codenameverity #roseunderfire #bookrecommendations
