People still keep posting to Ello...
I find it kind of mesmerizing that today — more than 30 days after the Following feed and the Discover feed have essentially died, over at Ello — people are still posting new content onto Ello.
And you really, really need to get out of your way to even find these new Ello posts.
———
Update: Some choice links:
ello.co/discover/trending
ello.co/discover/writing/trending
ello.co/discover/illustration/trending
ello.co/discover/minimalism/trending
———
Update: per June 21st, the Ello website has been down (HTTP error 500) for more than 48 hours...

With an intuitive and refined talent, I compose songs like this when I'm not working on construction sites, I wear a hat to avoid getting cement in my hair.
Tumblr media
But as he writes in some post, he learns to play the guitar on his own. I remember that as a young teenager, I used to listen to Bach, which is perhaps an indication of my musical refinement, since I had no formal music study. I just listened and started composing my first song.
I hope to sell the recording rights to several of my songs, and to sell them to various artists. You lazy ones. He disappeared for a while, only returning to the artistic world in 2014, when I made my debut on the website ello.co. This site I miss so much.
But now I'm investing in the battle to take my music to the world. My acceptance in the music market will only occur when I gain a little popularity and of course I will continue recording songs.
I recorded my first album, even though I was experiencing great financial difficulties, and I will continue to compose until I die.
So, I wake up thinking about my music. I spend all day thinking about my music and I go to sleep thinking about my music. And I dream about her, my music. And people think I'm crazy.
But I don't just make music. When I started building my room, I discovered new forms of reinforced concrete to lighten the walls, which were supported on few 'iron' supports, and I found, in this way, solutions that allowed a building to be erected on the ground and create "walls ". I use the block and the 8-hole brick as a basic shape, to build my room and the flat ceiling, take advantage of it, you can't see the photo but I have a small window, I introduced the prefabricated elements. This was a dream come true for me, I really wanted a comfortable cold place to work because it is very hot, and I hope to surround the space with nature.
But what am I doing in the photo? I'm stirring mortar creating a support for the trash can. The last rain washed away everything, even the blue color of the floor disappeared. So I'm going to spend more money on paint and paint it again.

Throwback from 2016 in Ello on the topic of "Burnout"
[Link to original: [+]
Me:
[WARNING: possibly controversial statement on mental health, follows.]
A major characteristic of burnout is the inability to disengage from stress, or more specifically an inability to disengage from a constant mental state of stressfulness.
And no, one can't just simply turn off PTSD like how one would turn off a faucet. One doesn't just "get over it". To suggest that it is possible to simply do so, is insulting. Hurtful, even.
[/end statement]
comment by Arxvis:
My partner has a burnout, it's almost taking me along - so heavy and difficult to heal!
comment by Dredmorbius:
I'd run across this description via HN a while back:
Burnout is caused when you repeatedly make large amounts of sacrifice and or effort into high-risk problems that fail. It's the result of a negative prediction error in the nucleus accumbens. You effectively condition your brain to associate work with failure.
Subconsciously, then eventually, consciously, you wonder if it's worth it. The best way to prevent burnout is to follow up a serious failure with doing small things that you know are going to work. As a biologist, I frequently put in 50-70 and sometimes 100 hour workweeks. The very nature of experimental science (lots of unkowns) means that failure happens. The nature of the culture means that grad students are "groomed" by sticking them on low-probability of success, high reward fishing expeditions (gotta get those nature, science papers) I used to burn out for months after accumulating many many hours of work on high-risk projects. I saw other grad students get it really bad, and burn out for years.
http://iamnotaprogrammer.com/Burnout-is-caused-by-resentment.html#comment-478842490
I'm not entirely convinced that's it either (and there is a literature on the topic), but I do think that:
Stress.
Repeated failure.
Lack of downtime.
Are all key.
I burnt out. Hard. About four years ago. Still haven't returned. At first my level of focus was light TV sitcom material -- literally anything else just shut me down. I've worked back up to where I can deal with certain types of work -- some, true to my classic work style, I can't not do. But there remain a large class of things I simply cannot do. I contemplate them and my brain completely shuts off. I cannot even talk about them.
This is phenomenally difficult to communicate to to those around me (it's remarkably difficult to talk about something if you cannot even talk about it...), and of course there are people who simply cannot comprehend the concept of mental dysfunction (frequently those who've got a measure of it themselves, I've noticed, but that's another story).
A century or so back, this was called a "nervous breakdown". I'd always thought that term was fanciful and overly poetic, much like "tidal wave" seemed terribly inaccurate. Much as I've since seen video of the ocean rising inexorably as a tide following the 2004 Boxing Day and 2011 Tohoku earthquakes, I am finding that the notion of a breakdown of nervous capacity actually does seem to fit what I've experienced.
Physiologically or neurologically, I don't know what the specific mechanism is. But I strongly suspect that long-term levels of even moderate stress have far more profound impacts on us than we suspect. With, quite probably, significant variation among individuals, and also a probable high level of self-delusion among those who are actually experiencing strong negative consequences but denying it to others and even themselves. Dunning-Kruger or some variant.

soundcloud.com/nadiegesabate.
Before coming to this site, I managed to disconcert the public with my talent and the vitality of my compositions. I was an idiot just listening to other artists' songs and sitting around doing nothing. And quickly converts me into a composer. In 2014, my page ello.co debuted. So, in 2022, I premiered on soundcload some of my operas
https://soundcloud.com/nadiegesabate.
Upon returning, he noticed that the site had many errors, but I didn't give up. The songs belonging to this second phase of my career are more transparent and popular and some of them are directly inspired by Russian popular music. And after some conflicts with the cultural authorities (facebook), I was forbidden to interpret Chopin's works, and I hope that the ban ceases to be in force.
I am a composer, I create works that someday will value me.
That's kind of childish, banning! It cannot be prohibited. I'm at home listening to symphonic music to orchestrate, I'm not stealing anything from anyone, I'm authentic. A lot of the music I used sounds from the different instruments in FL Studio, because each character is assigned an instrument and a melody of its own. I still left written many symphonies, piano concertos, guitar concertos, numerous works for piano, electronic music. I also have masterpieces the scores composed for westerns.

The Transition
It's gone... this dumb... why am I doing this?, the only freakin place on the internet that I loved so much is.. gone (ello.co) at least last time I checked it was, man I loved that place, also laziness is EVIL!, yes I'm serious laziness is evil, because falling down to the bottom is not fun!
That's why we gotta hard on our own craft! (Create, make something!) this is the digital era. ehhh I don't have that much to say, I just didn't want to spend the last part of my day consuming, and thus, that is what is, meant by the transition, you see.. in life, either you can be a consumer or contributor, a giver or a taker. I DON"T WANT TO BE A CONSUMER ANYMORE!!, I've been one for too long,
get rewarded for the good that you do for others, I think the fruits of that path, are the sweet fresh and delicious!, anyways.. that's all for now!, speaking of fruit, if you want to see some apples spinning, click the video below, - But seriously be warned they cause minor dizziness -, well at least it gets me a little dizzy.
