do you think Elain is the type of girl who expects her mate/husband to ask her to be his valentine everywhere? Or does she think that’s too much lol

I think Elain is very romantic (a hopeless romantic, if you will) and would absolutely love to be asked to be her mate's Valentine each year.

Of course, she's going to be kinda embarrassed about it because she wants it but doesn't want to feel like she's being too much. She'll casually mention it in passing, "I heard this female in the market talking about how her partner asks her to be his valentine every year and they've been together for 25 years! How sweet is that?"

In her mind, she's like "Oh well, I mentioned it but I won't let myself be disappointed if that doesn't happen."

But then, of course, her mate is very observant. He's a smart guy. Lucien knows exactly what Elain intended by dropping that little story and he knows she's embarrassed to say she wants that.

The first two years, they're sweet proposals. He goes all out to make it as lovely as possible, In the third year, it's still romantic but starts to get a little silly. Each year after that, Lucien keeps finding new ways to toe the line with hilarious/cringy/romantic Valentine's proposals and Elain starts looking forward to whatever ridiculous way he'll come up with.

Her mate's a little shit sometimes but he knows exactly how to make her feel loved and give her a good laugh.

I'm watching an anime (from 2003) called "Uninhabited Planet Survival" and the main character, Luna, is so Gwyn coded ITS DRIVING ME NUTS.

But then, we also have whom I like to believe is the male MC, Kaoru, and he is LITERALLY AZRIEL

BUT THEN, we also have the secondary characters that are pretty much HALF THE CHARACTERS OF ACOTAR.

I saw it for the first time when I was 12, and now rewatching it on my 20s AND I ALWAYS SHIPPED LUNA AND KAORU.

Elucien bedroom habits (as in SLEEP habits you animals)

Both Elain and Lucien read before bed

But as soon as Elain starts yawning Lucien is quick to shut his book and make himself avaliable for cuddling

Lucien is a grade A clingy sleeper

He wants skin contact in some form during the night

Elain often wakes up to find him curled around her and tucking her into his chest

He sleeps with a big smile on his face so she stays put even when she gets warm

Elain sleep mumbles

It's nonsensical and contains random words that are on her mind

Lucien easily soothes her by petting her hair

Sleeping alone is no go

If there is ever any bickering, they will still sleep side by side and hold hands at least

Nap culture is aliveee in this relationship

Especially outside on a picnic blanket or under a tree

"ELUCIEN SHIPPERS ARE SICK"

Says an Elriel. Meanwhile, Elriels:

An Elriel donated 5 dollars to name a rat Lucien and to see it getting eaten by an owl. She could donate for Gaza,poor people,abused women and children, health care ,etc,but no,she decided to spend money on a poor animal getting eaten.

They keep saying that SA victims (Gwyn) can't enjoy sex because of their trauma.

"She deserved getting graped for stealing Elain's man," a comment with more than 20 likes from an Elriel saying that about Gwyn.

('One eyed loser' - 'Ginger freak' - 'Pathetic whiny bitch' - 'Abuser' - 'A white man can't be better than a brown man') words [most of them from Nahbro on tiktok] towards Lucien. Racism,ableism, and more.

Lucien is pathetic like his mother - his mother being Lady of Autumn Court, an abused woman who did nothing wrong as far as we saw, and we know nothing about her story yet.

Gwyn / Lucien should die so Az and Elain can be together.

So these are A FEW of the most disturbing things I've seen,and there are even more. Not once have I seen this disgusting behaviour from Eluciens/Gwynriels,and it makes me sick to my stomach. SJM laughed at Elriels comments about Az not ending up with Gwyn and she was disgusted when they asked if she is an adult. You keep embarrassing yourselves online,at the end of the day it's a book series.

Nyx, the golden boy of Velaris. He loves his parents, cousins, and architecture. He loves his books and models and he loves carving little wooden animals for his loved ones. An adventurer at heart, he wants to explore the skies.

Cricket, Elain and Lucien's eldest daughter. A child of the Day Court, she'd rather be riding horses with her grandfather or playing pranks with her cousin Nyx. She's the defacto leader of the group, with all of her father's courage, her grandfather's humor, her mother's looks, and her Uncle Eris's brains.

Froggy, Elucien's second born daughter! While she's a prodigy and scholar that the Day Court is proud of, it's her mastery of the Autumn Flame that has her Uncle Eris declare her as the defacto heir to the Autumn Court. (in her Autumn Court gown) But Froggy has no time for politics! She prefers to study and play with her smokehound, Brigid. Named after the first fae in Autumn to wield fire.

and last, but certainly not least it's the little Illyrian Princess herself, Orianna! Ori loves many things, her Mama and Papa, glitter, dancing, the library, and her cat Pudding. She's the heir of the House of the Wind, the trusted assistant to the Priestesses of the Library, and the little Princess of the Night Court. She loves to play with her cousins, train to be a Valkyrie, and do her librarian duties. And she's the star of the Velaris Children's Choir that her Aunt Gwyn and Uncle Az lead. Maybe soon they'll give her a new baby cousin to play with!

I am an avid reader, but my background and my strongsuits lie in STEM. I open with this for two reasons: I know literary analysis is a whole other animal, but the philosophy I take from it general is to keep an open mind.

When it comes to theories and ships, I think the clues from the text and from SJM's more strongly suggest that Elriel is the next book. However, I also see the evidence for other potential ships such as Gwynriel and Elucien as well. I won't go into why I tend to favor Elriel. We have heard all the arguments over and over again. However, I am not putting all my emotional eggs in the Elriel basket for several reasons. First and foremost, it's just a piece of fiction. At the end of the day, there are much more important things to worry about. Secondly, I love Lucien. He is my favorite SJM male and I do see how Elucien would make a great story and a beautiful couple. Thirdly, Gwynriel appeals to my geeky side and I can see how Gwynriel would connect on a more intellectual level. Finally, I love the fact that there are so many possibilities to speculate about. On a quantum level, we have Schroedingers ships right now and SJM has written an infinite number of outcomes in the next book. At the end of the day, we might get a few things about the books correct, such as ships, but I have a feeling SJM will surprise us. (Hopefully, she will deliver on more original plot devices too.)

Overall, I enjoy the positive side of the fandom with all the theories, headcanons, fanart and fanfics. I try to be objectively critical when any side has a bad argument. I like to interact with as many different content creators as I can, because you are an interesting lot. If you would like to discuss anything with an Elrielish-quasi-multishipper no matter who you ship, I am always here. I will never attack you or allow others to disrespect you in my little blog. It is a safe space to ENJOY the fandom.

Oh, and Azris is the hottest ship despite the fact I am pretty sure it won't happen. 👀👀👀
