Feast of Renenutet
Em Hotep! Today is the feast of Renenutet! A harvest festival where we celebrate the Goddess Renenutet, Goddess of the harvest, and the birth of Nepri, the grain God.
There is not a lot of information on how this celebration was practiced in antiquity, but luckily we know what and who it was celebrating.
Personally, I use this festival to celebrate early spring and the planting season. My family grows crops which we will be planting soon so I ask for blessings for a good Harvest this year. As well, it is a time to venerate your ancestors and deceased loved ones, and ask Renenutet, Beautiful of Appearances, to protect them and keep them in her care.
Here is how I celebrate:
I usually first take a shower or bath for ritual purity, and then I do the usual like light incense, candles and play music.
I then pray asking for a good harvest and a blessed spring, then I give the offerings.
The feast
I usually give an offering of these things on a tray:
Bread
Milk
Water
Apples
Lettuce
Cheese
Crackers
Honey
Kiwi
Oranges
Happy Feast of Renenutet, may the coming of the new season treat you wonderfully, and may your harvest be bountiful and prosperous!

Em hotep. What's wrong with Sharon LaBorde? I've been researching and interacting with Kemetic communities lately, and even the most hardcore followers will recommend her channel and books. Your FAQ was the first time I ever saw someone disagree so I wanted to hear why. Thank you for your time.
the main reasons i don't tend to recommend sharon :
she spreads misinformation about KO. if you're going to criticize the organization, you should be doing it with actual factual data, not falsified drama that has been stirring around the internet since 2006. when i created a KO q&a post on her forum, she tried to shut it down because it made her uncomfortable lol. it was left up only because people pushed back against it. that's how deep her need to have KO always be in the wrong runs, imo. and so much of her content (at least back then) was rife with these subtle jabs at KO and its fkn tiresome esp when its not based on actual facts.
she's okay with racism. when i modded for her back in the 2013 era, there was suddenly a spike of discussion regarding police brutality and racism (due to mike brown being murdered), and she was so fast to back up the racists and play down some of her own lowkey racism. this is ultimately what got me removed from being a mod. she didn't even have the nerve to tell me, i just signed in and saw i no longer had mod privileges. a little cherry on top.
i don't find her first book (never bothered to read the second book) to be particularly impactful or useful. its filled with anti-KO sentiment just lurking under the surface. i didn't like that she labeled a consecration rite as "opening the mouth" (if you search her old forum, you might find us discussing that back in the day). i didn't like the lack of good citation in her book. in general, i was just not impressed. you can find all the relevant information on free from better (imo) writers, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
all of this combined doesn't make me want to recommend her to anyone. you can probably check the laborde tag to find older variations of me answering this question, which may have more details, but idr and i'm too lazy to check

Welcome! Em hotep!
I’m Toby (he/they) and this is the blog where I plan to post about my spirituality and Kemetic journey. I started exploring Kemeticism during the summer of 2022.
My intent with my spiritual journey is to facilitate understanding and acceptance of my human experience. It’s important to me that my spiritual practice feels purposeful and is personally meaningful. As such, I am using Kemeticism as a framework; adopting practices and beliefs that I see truth in, and giving them meaning by adapting them to suit my life.
I understand deities/netjeru as personifications of different truths, ideas, or themes. The primary netjeru I am working with:
Djehuty (Thoth)
Nebt-het (Nephthys)
Netjeru I am interested in connecting more with:
Wesir (Osiris)
Heru-wer (Horus)
Het-heru (Hathor)
Ma’at
Please follow along if you’d like! I would love to connect with other Kemetics!

The Amduat: 12 Hours of the Night
(Note: this video does a great job explaining the twelve nights in detail, and is probably one of the best resources for mythology itself!)
Em Hotep! Welcome into 2023! To start us off, this is a post that's been in my drafts for a year (since January 26, 2022!) so I figured I would start off the year with this post I promised to make a year ago!
So let’s start out: what exactly is the Amduat? Translated as “that which is in the underworld”, this is an important funerary text that details Lord Ra’s journey through the underworld during the night, before he eventually rises again as the new sun. This journey through the Amduat is the same journey that all deceased take before arriving at the Weighing of the Heart ceremony where they will either be welcomed into Aaru, or have their souls devoured by Ammit.
According to the Amduat, there are twelve kingdoms of the underworld, each one corresponds to an hour of night. Each hour represents different allies and enemies that Lord Ra (and the deceased who follow) must encounter.
The Amduat also names a lot of the inhabitants of the Duat, the realm of the dead that Lord Wesir rules over. The Duat and Aaru are two completely different places. I'll go more in-depth regarding that once I write up a post regarding the afterlife itself. But as a quick note: The Duat is what one must travel through to reach Aaru, which is the afterlife.
I won't go through each of the nights in detail, as the video I linked above does a pretty good job of that already, but I will explain some things that the video does.
It's a very common part of Kemetism to say that Lord Ra flies in the sky on a solar barque as he passes through the sky as the sun. This solar barque is called the Mandjet during the day, and the Mesektet during the night, when he travels through the twelve kingdoms of the night. But Lord Ra isn't just sailing through the sky, Egyptian mythology tells us that he's sailing on a river that passes through the sky and the underworld. Some of my own personal UPG is the band of the Milky Way galaxy we're able to see on very clear nights here on earth is actually the river that Lord Ra travels on. Again, this just my own personal belief.
At the edges of the sky are two large mountains: Manu and Bakhu. The river Lord Ra sails on passes through both of these mountains: Manu when he travels to the underworld, and Bakhu when he emerges into the new morning sky.
Lord Ra actually dies once he passes through Manu, and the Mesektet is overtaken by twelve Netjeru to watch over and protect him as he travels through the night. At the middle of night, Lord Khepri returns to Lord Ra, as he will eventually bring him back to life. Lord Khepri is actually the ba of Lord Ra (see: "The Concepcion of the Soul").
It's near the end of his journey where Lord Ra is reborn as Lord Khepri, and it isn't until he emerges from the underworld and into the morning sky that he once again becomes Lord Ra.

I'm Khen* (they/he), long time Kemetic, first time posting on this New Blog! My original blog, @khenneferitw, has been flagged as explicit, and since I haven't been able to get that flag fixed, I am opening a new blog!
I'm looking to reconnect with the broader polytheist/pagan/witchcraft community. Right now at the encouragement of my gods, I am exploring druidry, so I would also love to meet some druid folks!
My primary gods are Ptah and Wepwawet, but I have a special love for Bast, Sekhmet, Hetheru, Set, Amunet, and Aset.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
*in the past I have spelled my nickname as Khenne, to make clear that I was not another member of the House of Netjer who went by Khen. As I am no longer a member of the House, I am using Khen, but either spelling is fine! I will also answer to both Khenneferitw or Khensaptah.

Hello! If you are still doing tarot, can I get one from the Sekhmet's Servant deck, please? Ty!
Em hotep, of course you can!
I had Mehit come forward for you, alongside the four of Pentacles. She appears in a full lionoid form, wearing the Atef crown.
"Be at peace, be at peace, be at peace. What brings you worry, child? What causes your stress? There is not worry to be had, for you are meant to be merry. Take your ka and feed it. Hold it close and allow it to grow without worry or fear!"
The four of Pentacles mimics this message, with more to add:
"You are still in your youth! Do not allow yourself to become overworked or overburdened. Work diligently without stress, and know your efforts are not in vain. Everything will happen as it should."

(possible TW: Natural disaster mention; Hurricane Ian.)
Em hotep~!
Long time, no see. Bear with me, it may be a long one.
The past few years have been what the kids call ✨ w i l d✨ for me. I started my Kemetic journey in 2016, and since then I have moved cross country three times. I was active on tumblr when the first one happened. However, tumblr took a huge back seat in my life as I started walking down my polytheistic path soon after.
I eventually moved to TikTok where I finally got the courage to teach about Kemeticism and make videos right before cross country move two. I had moved to Florida to help my parents run a restaurant on Sanibel Island. Those two years allowed me to flourish into my Kemetic path, teaching and making videos. It is a lot of fun for me!
It also gave me space to open an Etsy shop where I made Kemetic devotional bracelets. It was a dream of mine for the longest time, and I was super thrilled to be able to make subtle things like that for fellow Kemetics.
September 28th 2022, Hurricane Ian took the restaurant from us--and my Etsy shop as I don't have the source for a PO Box anymore. Our personal apartment was safe, but the restaurant suffered massive flooding damage and we aren't able to financially build again. So, cross country move number three took place when my husband got a job back where we were before Florida.
It's been a super wild six years.
However, I was able to find my passion teaching Kemeticism and about The Neteru though TikTok. It eventually led me to start a podcast called The Magic of Egypt that I host with my best friend. I am editing Episode Nine as I write this.
That's where this post comes in. I didn't utilize tumblr for a multitude of reasons; one of them being that it was just too much to add to TikTok, twitter, and instagram. I still won't be utilizing tumblr to be frank with y'all. I might doom scroll sometimes and post what I usually post here but that's about it.
I'll be using TikTok, going LIVE there once a month, and now my Patreon. My Patreon has a few tiers that include Neteru of the Month posts, Deity Tips, a discord server, and more exclusive content. If you're looking for a safe space for Kemetics, I'd love to see you.
I still do offer readings, too! Patreon has access to exclusive monthly Pick a Card readings and LIVES where I'll offer free Oracle card draws there. My path has definitely evolved from where it was and now I'm walking the Priestess Path with Set.
... just yanno, it came with a ton of ✨c h a o s✨, no biggie...
Anyway, thank you so much for reading this far. I wish you the best on your paths. Much love.
Y'all can find me through my other social media: https://linktr.ee/desertrosegoddess
