1d20 Minor Enemies for BREAK!!

I wanted to put a convenient list of level 0-1 enemies based on the advice listed in BREAK!!, which favors using a smaller adversaries section alongside guidance on customization and reskinning for different purposes. At first glance this can make it look like it's difficult to fill out an encounter table without relying on much more dangerous creatures, but I disagree. These are the ones I found, and I only cheated on 1 entry really; all of the rest of these are available with almost no premeditated tinkering required for the BREAK!! GM.

Realm Encounter Table: The Haunted Shores

Introduction

These encounters happen for every hex of movement made within the Immortal Realms overworld travel map, for every hovel explored, or whenever you as Game Master wish to push the game along. In the simplest form, have a player roll 1d100 and reference the table for the results. If you want to give the party more (or less) favorable results, ask for two rolls and select the best (or worst) of the resulting encounters. For any encounter rolls that occur at night, all results encountering a creature instead results in encountering 2d6+6 Zombies.

If there are other creatures encountered as a result, you can either follow the suggested disposition in the table, decide what disposition the creatures have towards the party, or let the players roll for it. You can use a group roll average of 1d6 and reference the Situation & Disposition table below.

Group Roll Average of 1d6 | Situation & Disposition

1 | Odds Against The Party –   Creatures react negatively, and the situation is stacked against the party. Caught in an ambush, ensnared in their own lies, or victims of misfortune, there is no opportunity for players to gain an upper hand in this encounter and may possibly be surprised if fighting begins.

2-3 | Unfavorable Situation – Creatures react negatively, and the party may make one attempt at preparing for the encounter with disadvantage on any rolls as a   result.

4-5 | Favorable Situation – Creatures react neutrally or if they are hostile they have not yet noticed the party, perhaps they are occupied or uninterested. The party may make one attempt at preparing for the encounter.

6 | Odds Against The Opponents – Creatures react favorably or if they are hostile   they have not yet noticed the party. The party may make one attempt at preparing for the encounter with advantage on any rolls as a result. If initiative is rolled, the party may choose to use the advantage on initiative instead.

now that I'm rereading, I think we give sqq too much credit for his poker face. some things overpower his poker face, usually because he went on a mental tangent and started thinking about dick jokes. first example is when he starts thinking about how without a cure played out in pidw and he completely zones out and his "facial expression kept changing erratically" and he doesn't notice that the others are trying to get his attention. then again when little palace mistress is ranting about his supposed crimes and he starts thinking about pidw harem drama and gets the urge to laugh at both her (for being cringe) and airplane (for being a virgin), and she gets pissed off because he's grinning at her. later when he's talking to six balls, he starts thinking about dick jokes as binghe's name and he laughs so hard he falls over and he has to slap himself to get his shit together. I think we need to take advantage of the fact that the number one way to get sqq to break character is to get him to laugh at sex jokes

1d12 ways to complicate an encounter

A magic or mundane artifact generates an effect harmful to the PCs, but it is guarded by the monster's minions.

The encounter's setting starts to collapse during the battle, and all the combatants will need to escape.

A boss monster has a 'second form' that activates mid-way through the battle.

Traps are placed throughout the battlefield, and characters must be wary of them.

The PCs must complete a ritual while fending off attacks from the enemy.

The encounter area is a series of cliffs or platforms, forcing characters to jump around and risk falling, possibly into a pit, water, or lava.

There is a monster that uses the blink spell or tunneling to avoid attacks between its turns.

A minor enemy has the ability to summon or call for reinforcements every round.

There are three sides, not two, battling in this encounter.

A disastrous environmental effect, such as an avalanche, wildfire, or earthquake, occurs in the area, dealing damage and forcing the combatants apart.

An anti-magic pulse affects some areas of the battlefield periodically, suppressing spells and magical items when it is active.

The enemies are shockingly weak and easily defeated, but the PCs' goal isn't here -- the treasure chest is a mimic, or their princess is in another castle.

One of my TTRPG groups just played a one-shot of a game called Kosmosaurs, wherein you play as dinosaur space rangers cruising the galaxy and defending against evil. It's goofy and cheesy as hell, and our group FULLY embraced the Saturday-morning-80s/90s-cartooniness of it all (our ship came equipped with a canteen that served Lunchables and Little Hug Fruit Barrels, a Wreckreation Hall, 90s rock music that played whenever we took off, a Legally Distinct Alpha 5, and "hella cup holders"). I rolled up an energetic little Microraptor Pilot named Nib who has a fascination with collecting old technology (hence the aviator hat despite this being a space adventure), which came in handy when, during the climactic battle against a blaster-proof enemy, they found a convenient revolver and added a bonus to the attack because they are proficient in "old technology". xD Anyway, highly recommend Kosmosaurs for a lighthearted one-shot!

I’ve spent the better part of (I think over) 2 years listening and I’m still in awe, to this day, at the sheer skill all 4 of the cast members possess in their acting and storytelling. rare dark cave encounters

im not very good at creating personalities for my pokémon, but here's the sketches of personality i have thus far:

gylfie is rather asocial with the rest of the crew. she doesn't antagonize anybody, but she strongly enforces her boundaries when she feels they're violated, often because someone intruded on her personal bubble or stole from her food dish. she wants to make friends, but the only two pokemon she even vaguely gets along with are charmont the cyndaquil and reginald the dunsparce.

reginald is the dad friend. he gets along with just about everybody and everybody likes him in return. being the bulkiest pokémon in the sub-level-20 crew, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure they don't faint in battle. if any squabbles break out, he's the one to break it up and console the most aggrieved party. everyone likes sitting near him while he sunbathes, but he makes sure to get one-on-one time with gylfie, who can be rather jealous of her dad friend.
