Pokemon Card of the Day #2559: Energy Search (Fossil)

Energy Search probably looks quite familiar, even to newer players. The first appearance of the often reprinted card was in Fossil all the way back in 1999, though it rotated out for a little bit before getting reprinted in Expedition in 2002. The card was the same then as it is now, as a Trainer that let you search your deck for a basic Energy card to put into your hand. This was best used at the time in decks that used multiple types of Energy, such as Haymaker variants using a combination of Pokemon such as Mewtwo, Electabuzz, and Hitmonchan. It wasn’t so great for single-type decks back then as it didn’t really combo with anything but Item Finder and discarding 2 cards and Item Finder for a single Energy was a really steep price. While there were some formats where Energy Search was much more widely used, the start made this card limited to just a few decks in practice.

in the amelia pond au, amelia’s aunt does still send her to therapy between doctor adventures, but since amelia is now secure in the fact that he’s Definitely Real since both rory and mels have also met him and because she lost a tooth last week from tripping on the stairs of the tardis, she doesn’t bite any therapists this time around. and besides, her therapist is a very funny lady. she reminds amelia of her doctor, with how her voice will flip and jump in volume and accent and tone on a whim, with how she’ll talk to amelia like they’re conspiring together. she keeps the pictures amelia draws of the doctor and their adventures for her, even hangs one or two on the walls. she listens very intently to every detail, which no adults in amelia’s life do save the doctor himself and river song, whenever she’s around. and best of all, whenever she tells amelia’s aunt that amelia is doing just fine, don’t you worry, she’ll grow out of this, she winks at amelia so that amelia will know her therapist is only playing along to wave away her aunt’s suspicion.

it is a little odd, though, that she insists on only being called Missy. but amelia is quite used to odd by now.

i love having the shittest week ever and feeling so so tired and so gross and just basically like i'm constantly behind in Everything even though i'm studying all the time and then calling up my dad basically just looking for someone to tell me that i'm. doing well. only for him to do Concerned Disappointed Father voice like i'm worried about you...i don't think youre doing enough.....why haven't you joined any societies yet....you don't socialise enough.....etc etc AND SO ON :(
