Social media marketing.
Online entertainment has assumed control of the web all through late years. While it has given individuals a method for staying related with loved ones, it has besides offered business visionaries the chance to figure out in a decided manner and focus on their particular strength. To take advantage of your internet based entertainment propelling exercises, making note of the three C’s of virtual redirection: content, neighborhood, exchange is huge. Checkout Best Digital Marketing Company in Delhi.
Content The main C to execute in your virtual redirection displaying attempts is content. The money in online entertainment is worth, and that worth is made by conveying and sharing immense substance . There are heaps of ways to deal with making content: You can frame blog sections or high level books, produce sound social events or web records, or suggestion online courses or brief records, to give a couple of models.
It is a close to 100% exercise in futility to utilize online entertainment to direct people to your affiliation’s site page tolerating you have the same old thing to offer when they appear. Making new satisfied dependably will make individuals need to a steadily expanding degree.
Adding to a blog can be a marvelous strategy for keeping a standard development of new satisfied. On the off chance that you’re essentially beginning, coming up next are several strong signs regarding delivering off a blog .
Set up an article plan for your blog to assist with dealing with your timetable. Start making a couple out of posts consistently something like three months before your blog goes live. This will accomplish a record of blog content you can use to start off a bang. Transport off your blog with something like 10 articles as of late posted as opposed to one irredeemable post. This will provide your perusers with an illustration of your blog’s flavor and what’s really going on with it. Furthermore investigate Instagram Growth Hacks.
Neighborhood The going with C of electronic entertainment is neighborhood. Electronic entertainment basically thrives due to individuals included. One colossal advantage of partaking in virtual redirection is the critical chance to organize yourself as key astonishing force to be reckoned with, and a marvelous strategy for doing that is by drawing in your gathering and building an area.
Set to the side the showing mentality, and be genuine with individuals. Your adherents and fans ought to be aware and draw in with who is behind the substance you share in web-based entertainment. You can’t tolerate being one of those individuals on Twitter or Facebook who is diligently shooting out relationship with your blog without offering any human correspondence. It’s basic to rather make a two-way talk with your partners and fans and engage social encounters.
For instance, I use Twitter to meet financial specialists bit by bit. I have a tweetchat every Wednesday from 8 to 9 PM ET considered #Smallbizchat, during which I give a visitor pro and my gathering comes to learn and collaborate with one another. It works since I’m offering basic substance as well as conversation and obligation.
To win in electronic entertainment, you truly need to get out there and assembling an affiliation. The more very much arranged and sharp you are, the better your opportunities to make solid areas for a redirection brand will be. Electronic redirection is an incredible system for building relationship on and isolated. The most ideal kind of stooping on the web is where others share your substance. Thusly, I utilize a 4:1 degree of sharing others’ substance over my own.
Somewhere around a couple of contemplations for building neighborhood others include:
Posting on parties, remarking on web journals, or communicating with extra open doors across your virtual entertainment impression. Cooperate with reaches you have on LinkedIn on other relaxed networks like Facebook and Twitter, as well. Visitor adding to a blog for different destinations or offering open doorways for others to visitor blog for you. The world is yours to take part with and assemble neighborhood.
Trade The last C of the inquiry is trade, which is clearly trickier than you could typically think. Essentially, individuals work with individuals they like, know, and trust. Eye to eye, it takes three coordinated efforts before you can have a satisfactory effect that will permit you to cultivate a game plan. On the web, it takes seven joint endeavors to make a relationship that will accomplish business.
Clearly, a decisive objective of virtual redirection raising is to make web traffic, qualified drives , and deals. Notwithstanding, what makes virtual entertainment so enamoring is the way things are obliging and “social.” At last furthermore checkout How to increase LinkedIn followers.

New Music | Sirintip
After three years of climate research and patient self-discovery, Bangkok-born singer, producer and multi-modal artist Sirintip issues her sophomore release, carbon. Weary from headlines that preach and scold, the internationally acclaimed composer of Thai Swedish descent sought a new method of engagement. carbon, to be released on October 14, 2022 via Ropeadope, presents thirteen tracks of original music as an invitational gesture, an appeal for a new kind of conversation around climate action.
carbon by Sirintip
“I didn’t want the project to be preaching, ‘You’re not good enough,’” says the Manhattan based artist. “That’s what the news does. So I thought, ‘What if I don’t put the message in the lyrics? What if I compose it into the music? Then maybe people — including me — might become more curious to learn new ways for us to interact with our planet.’”
carbon would emerge as ambitious and interdisciplinary, bonding visual art and moving image, as well as audio-visual installation. For the music video release of “plastic bird,” Sirintip received funding from New York Foundation for the Arts, in addition to project support she’s received from Swedish Arts Council, STIM, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Borrowing from the tradition of hip hop, the record features a number of found instruments, including plastic water jugs transformed into percussion, processed recordings from backyard wildlife, even sand. “I’ve always been interested in nature and science,” says the 2015 Monk Competition finalist, who ultimately chose to pursue music over neurosurgery. “I think I’ve been working on this project subconsciously for a very long time.”
Communicating urgent messaging in so subtle a way would require musical contributions from empathetic, visionary artists. Sirintip, who has toured with Snarky Puppy and performed with Benny Andersson of ABBA, assembled a band of fresh voices, including Michael League on bass; Chris McQueen (“aqi,” “hydrogen,” “i cannot escape,” “red eyes,” “unspoken gold”) and engineer and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Nic Hard (“hydrogen”) on guitar; Nolan Byrd on drums, plastic trash and programming; Daniel Migdal on violin and viola (“hostage); Alex Hahn on flute (“plastic bird”); Owen Broder on baritone saxophone (“unspoken gold”); and pianist Kengchakaj Kengkarnka who helped integrate elements of Sirintip’s Thai heritage into the music. “During the pandemic, he figured out how to incorporate traditional 14-tone Thai tuning into the Moog synthesizer,” she says.
The artists spent nine days at Manifold Recording Studios in North Carolina, taking full advantage of its carbon neutral solar-powered atmosphere and location. “I like when I can live in a studio,” says Sirintip. “At Manifold, we lived in a guest house and worked from 9 or 10am until 2 or 3 in the morning.” During that time, they repurposed a parmesan container as a kick drum and shaker, collected handfuls of sand from a neighboring construction site and fitted the studio’s backyard with recording devices to capture crickets at twilight. “You can turn anything into music. It doesn’t need to be a musical instrument for you to be able to make music with it.”
Music heavily informed by research often features a mathematical expression as a vessel for artists to develop patterned ideas and improvise. But carbon presents a suite of music through which science elevates Sirintip’s lyrical musicianship. Her compositions breathe. With purpose, they intensify. Her ability to communicate through shifting mood chambers and crystalline soundscapes transports listeners to points of sensory and emotion, at once vast and intimate.
Two of carbon’s data-driven songs, “1.5” and “aqi,” integrate statistics into blossoming, melodious gestures. Inspired by information from sonic data app Twotone, “1.5” expresses the planet’s steady ongoing rise in temperature, pulling NASA data from 1880 through 2012. “It felt too obvious to me to portray the temperature steadily increasing the way it looks on the diagram," says Sirintip. Instead of composing within the linear increase, she identified different years that felt significant to her, exploring what each “sounded like,” and anchored her composition around those selections. “aqi” engages an entirely different system for sonifying data: “I decided to look at the data from another perspective: the worse the air pollution, the more dissonant the interval; the better, the more harmonious.” The song feature’s Kengkarnka’s Thai scale-tuned Moog, as well as samples of traditional หมอลำ (Mor lam) singing. Ending in a cloud of “reverb fog,” the music pays tribute to many Thai women whom Sirintip considers circumscribed and desiring to break free from the norms society imposes on them. “It’s like they’re living their lives in the smog that hovers over the city,” she says. “They’re only able to see what those in power allow them to see; when you can’t see what else is out there, how can you break free from where you are?”
Across the album, figurative language serves moments of tension and contemplation. Sirintip’s vocals inhabit endangered tigers, artificial birds, even Mother Earth, giving urgent voice to biodiversity. “red eyes” incorporates Thai drums into distinct patterns and a commanding groove that engages Sirintip’s dynamic expression. Hahn’s flute soars over sections of “plastic bird,” which integrates recyclables as well as rhythms from the Black Sicklebill’s mating dance into the vocal loop out front. Featuring crickets chirping outside the studio, “hostage” spotlights Sirintip’s exposed vulnerability, and serves as a solemn plea for climate action. Composed for the dire consequences of drought, “oasis” includes iterations of percussive sand, while “unspoken gold” samples frogs singing after the rain in Sirintip’s childhood backyard in Bangkok.
Because she views carbon as a call to action for herself as much as her listeners, Sirintip centers self-disclosure throughout the recording. Lyrics for “it’s alright” emerged from text messages between the artist and her best friend who passed away tragically at 28. “The song’s connection to climate change is in the plastics instrumentation,” says Sirintip, “but the message is more universal: We don’t need to be perfect.”
This messaging, in part, is what the artist-composer hopes listeners will receive from engaging with carbon. “Climate change is something that affects everyone. It shouldn’t need to be ‘activist’ work,” says Sirintip, who seeks to release the project while creating as minimal impact as possible. She recently performed a solar powered concert this summer, and is currently researching strategies for touring more sustainably: “It’s hard to be perfect. We don’t currently have the infrastructure for all of us to live like Greta. But trying is so much better than giving up. Everything counts — understanding our personal carbon footprint so we can limit them, even something as simple as deleting 10 emails and off-loading the servers from powering information that we don’t need. That’s what I’m trying to remember every day, and what I’m hoping to inspire others to consider when they hear this recording.”

hey there dudes, it’s me… ya boi. i won’t bore you with a long ass intro about me, but just know all you gotta do to befriend this fellow bean is yell into my ims that you wanna plot or legit anything else… i like yelling in all caps. anyways, my name’s amanda, i reside in the sunny gmt+1 timezone and i go by she/her. that’s abt it i guess ?? i never rly know what to say in these so i’ll just proceed to telling you about my children ethan and mallory under the cut
ps: like this and i’ll come to you for plots or yknow… just hmu !!
✎⌠sebastian stan. male. he/his⌡❝ — well, look who’s just arrived ! if it isn’t the one and only ethan bronson. though, around here they’re known as the cinephile. don’t tell ‘em i said this but the thirty five year old hollywood director and producer kinda has a reputation of being incessant and pedant. but y’know, they can be visionary and intuitive too. typical virgo. anyways, welcome home and stay safe ethan ! ❞ ↷ amanda. 19. she/her. gmt+1.
when i saw there was a vacancy for the owner of reel tide cinema i just knew i had to bring my son ethan into this group. his parents would have bought the place back in the 80s and now that his dad passed away her mom must likely put it in his name since she doesn’t feel like she’s capable of running the place all by herself.
ethan grew up in that movie theater, spending his early childhood sneaking into exhibitions of films he had no business of seeing at that age and helping his folks renovate the halls with a fresh coat of paint. nothing else has ever changed about the cinema and he likes it that way .... in all its original, outdated, moldy, classic glory.
anyways, up with two film enthusiasts as parents and just about the easiest environment to learn about movies in general it’s really no wonder that ethan always dreamt of becoming a big hollywood director. he’d pull out his camera anywhere he went, filming little scenery shots, his friends talking, stray dogs eating and anything else he found worthwhile. he was a completely geek.
he got into UCLA with a scholarship for filmmaking and screenwriting but ended up dropping out and pursuing directing on his own. his first ever film was an absolute knockout at every film festival it was showcased in and he went on to win a spirit award for best director and being nominated for as oscar. ever since then his life has been a roller coaster of awards and amazing movies he’s either directed, produced, written or a combination of the three.
hanging out with the big guns of hollywood has certainly refined his taste. he’s a lot more judgmental and short tempered than before, uninterested in ideas or conversations he doesn’t find remotely interesting. on the bright side he’s extremely creative, smart and cultured. Woke, if you will. he’s also a big perfectionist and won’t quit until something is done exactly how he wants it done.
coming back into town he feels like a stranger, like the odd man out, as if over the years he broke the tether that connected him to this place and can’t seem to find it anymore. but he needed a break and his dad just passed away so he thought it’d be nice of him to come help his mom for a while ... breathe a simpler air than the one of hollywood and la.
wanted connections: a childhood best friend that was also rly into movies, a girlfriend he left behind to go to college, a fling he would have whenever he’d come in and out of town in his early 20s, some kind of rival or enemy bc those are always fun. and MORE. ANYTHING.
pinterest board ( i just started it so not much there yet ! )
✎⌠zoey deutch. female. she/her⌡❝ — well, look who’s just arrived ! if it isn’t the one and only mallory dunn. though, around here they’re known as the instigator. don’t tell ‘em i said this but the twenty one year old bartender kinda has a reputation of being unreliable and petulant. but y’know, they can be alluring and uninhibited too. typical gemini. anyways, welcome home and stay safe mal ! ❞ ↷  amanda. 19. she/her. gmt+1.
drug use, neglect and abuse trigger warning !!!
boy oh boy, yall bettle settle in your seats bc you’re in for a RIDE
this messy binch did not have it easy for most of her upbringing. without delving too much into more triggering subjects, she was taken from her drug addict parents and put into the foster system due to neglect. she was put in a number of foster homes but the families never rly cared abt her nor the other kids ... they just wanted to make bank of the financial support given to adopting families. the last foster home was the worst of all, to the extent she had to beat up the father with a bat as to not let him do ... things he shouldn’t be doing to children.
this would explain why at age 16, when she was told a nice family from misty hollow wanted to adopt a whole ass teenager she thought it was a prank or a sick joke. she did not believe it and even after she moved in she did everything to try and show them they shouldn’t keep her. but they did. and she’s never felt more loved in her life.
thing is, ever since mallory got to town she’s done nothing short of cause utter and complete havoc. straying good angelic teens from their rightful paths, leading married individuals ( read both male and female ) into the sinful hands of adultery, trespassing into abandoned locations, getting arrested for misdemeanors.

wanted connections: a total partner in crime, someone she corrupted, relationships that ended badly ( screams, tears, cheating, toxicity !! all the angst ), fwbs, the ‘i hate you but i can’t get enough of you pls answer my call i’m so horny’, someone whose marriage/engagement/relationship she broke off bc they cheated with her ( i love my lil homewrecker ), a yin to her yang ... and literally anything else.
pinterest board.
if you made it this far you’re an absolute trouper and ily for it. if want any of those connections or any other you have in mind pls don’t hesitate to contact me !

Breonna Taylor is an “American girl, she is a sister, a daughter and a hard worker,” says Amy Sherald (@asherald), who, for over 20 years, has been putting the narratives of Black families and people to canvas. “Those are the kinds of people that I am drawn towards.”
Sherald—who painted Michelle Obama for the National Portrait Gallery in 2018—took extraordinary care in reimagining Breonna, drawing inspiration from things she learned about the 26 year old: that she had been a front-line worker in the fight against COVID-19; that her boyfriend had been about to propose marriage; that she was self-possessed, brave, loving, loved. Those heartbreaking details appear in the painting, from the gold cross on a chain necklace to the engagement ring she would never get to wear. “I made this portrait for her family,” Sherald says. “Producing this image keeps Breonna alive forever.”
Below, Sherald explains the elements of the painting—the blue hue, her subject’s strong pose—that conjure the details and stories of Breonna’s full life. Photograph by Joseph Hyde.
“OUR humanity is bound up in HERS, for we can only be human together.”[sic]~Desmond Tutu 🤍🤍🤍 @withregram • @vanityfair Presenting Breonna Taylor for Vanity Fair’s September issue, “The Great Fire.”
Five months have passed since police killed Breonna Taylor in her own home, a violent crime that our September issue guest editor Ta-Nehisi Coates ascribes to a belief in Black people as a disaster, as calamity. “I don’t know how else to comprehend the jackboots bashing in Breonna Taylor’s door and spraying her home with bullets, except the belief that they were fighting some Great Fire—demonic, unnatural, inhuman.”
Coates chose the "The Great Fire" as the theme for the issue, which assembles activists, artists, and writers to offer a portrait of hope in a world where the possibility of a legitimate anti-racist majority is emerging for the first time in American history. “Something is happening,” writes @tanehisipcoates, “and I think to understand it, we must better understand the nature of this Great Fire.”
For his cover story, Coates tells Breonna’s story through the words of her mother. Also in the issue: an oral history of the historic days after George Floyd's death; a portfolio of creatives and visionaries who capture the spirit—and urgency—of the moment; director @ava DuVernay's conversation with revolutionary Angela Davis; and much more. Read “The Great Fire” at the link in bio now. Painting by Amy Sherald (@asherald).

An Interview with Daniel Raim, director of IMAGE MAKERS by Raquel Stecher
Tumblr media
IMAGE MAKERS: THE ADVENTURES OF AMERICA’S PIONEER CINEMATOGRAPHERS (2019) is a new original TCM documentary that celebrates the early visionaries who shaped and molded an art form into what it is today. The film focuses on seven early cinematographers who developed their craft through invention, practice and collaboration. These include Billy Bitzer (Intolerance [1916’], Way Down East [1920]), Charles Rosher (Sunrise [1927], The Yearling [1946]), Rollie Totheroh (City Lights [1931], The Gold Rush [1925]), William H. Daniels (Flesh and the Devil [1926], Anna Christie [1930]), Karl Struss (Sunrise [1927], Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde [31]), Gregg Toland (Citizen Kane [41], The Grapes of Wrath [40]) and James Wong Howe (The Thin Man [34], Hud [1963]). I had the pleasure of chatting with director Daniel Raim, who has directed the critically acclaimed Harold and Lillian: A Hollywood Love Story (2015) and Something’s Gonna Live (2010), about his new documentary.
Raquel Stecher: Congratulations on IMAGE MAKERS. Can you tell me a little bit about how this project started?
Daniel Raim: I had met up with James Harmon Brown, who's the grandson of Harry Stradling, Sr., ASC (Pygmalion [1938], My Fair Lady [1964]) and James Harmon Brown's close friend Curtis Clark, ASC. They had explained to me that 2019 will be the 100th anniversary of the ASC (The American Society of Cinematographers), and they'd love to produce a documentary honoring the generation of cinematographers, the early cinematographers like Jim's grandfather. I was immediately engaged by this subject matter and knowing that there was a documentary made in '92 called Visions of Light, I wanted to do something very different from that and start from the very beginning and kind of make a documentary that, like most of my other films, sort of puts the audience in the shoes of these pioneer master craftsmen and craftswomen.
I said, "Let's find out what archival materials we have access to." Because I want to bring them to life in their own words. That's the most important thing for me.
It was a process of discovery, but the criteria was it's vital that we have access to their own words.
Tumblr media
Stecher: How did you select the seven cinematographers to be profiled in the movie?
Raim: Out of the seven that we picked, we had access to archival materials. Billy Bitzer wrote an autobiography. Gregg Toland was never interviewed on tape because he died at the age of 44—he was quite young—from heart disease, but he left behind a substantial amount of archival print interviews. In the early stages, I learned that his daughter, Lothian Toland, is still alive and well. And I said, "Lothian, I'd love to interview you about your dad… we'll come out to Palm Springs and interview you." She said, "No, no. I'll drive out to the ASC clubhouse because I want to be next to my dad's camera.” … I really want the audience to feel Gregg Toland through the presence of his camera sitting next to his daughter.
David Totheroh, the grandson of Rollie Totheroh, also came to the ASC clubhouse. This was in the very beginning of the documentary making. I had no idea that this guy's a walking encyclopedia of his grandfather… Rollie Totheroh was one of those fascinating stories about a third baseman baseball player, who out of nowhere is thrust into the middle of some of the most important moments in cinema history… and would become Charlie Chaplin's closest collaborator.
The ASC had this incredible archive of audio recordings done by Kemp Niver, ASC. Dating back to the '70s. Our archival producer, Martha Winterhalter, was the publisher of American Cinematographer magazine for 30 years. During that time, she had digitized these recordings.
Tumblr media
Stecher: What do you think are some misconceptions about the cinematographer's contribution to the filmmaking process and the director's contribution?
Raim: To a large degree, there's very little study on the contribution of the early pioneer cinematographers until recently. We need to understand the directors and who they are, the artistic vision of the director. What we learn in IMAGE MAKERS is the pioneering cinematographers invented the language that became film grammar. That was an essential question I had when I first started working on this, where does the grammar of cinema come from? I certainly agree that a general audience is aware there's a continuity. IMAGE MAKERS offers sort of a look at the puzzle…
You learn that Billy Bitzer taught D.W. Griffith about the components of storytelling. There's action and comedy, and here are the genres. Here's how we show it visually. Bitzer kind of invented the medium with Griffith. We don't know anything about Bitzer or what he did. Then Griffith came into his own and was clearly a master visual artist in his own right.
Charles Rosher, who [was] Mary Pickford's cameraman, is invited to UFA to show how he lights Pickford. Two years later, he comes back to Hollywood with Murnau and they do Sunrise (1927) together. Sunrise is one of those films I saw at film school that just blew my mind.
Then [there’s] James Wong Howe… a Chinese-American cameraman. Now suddenly you realize that this guy has an amazing sense of humor and artistry and an enormous respect from directors like Martin Ritt and impacts the ending of what John Bailey in our film calls the most important climax to any film… Hud (1963).
Tumblr media
Stecher: IMAGE MAKERS includes illustrations by Patrick Mate, which help visualize some of the behind-the-scenes actions. Can you tell me about how you worked with Mate and why it was important to incorporate these illustrations in your film?
Raim: I'm having lunch with Patrick Mate and [writer] Michael Sragow. Mike tells us the story of Karl Brown remembering Fireworks Wilson... he was the head of pyrotechnics on Intolerance (1916). He had a stump for an arm and helped Billy Bitzer light the gigantic Babylon set with magnesium flare torches. There [are] no photographs of Fireworks Wilson. I thought there's nobody better on planet Earth to draw and depict Fireworks Wilson than Patrick Mate, to bring to life this kind of extraordinary character who basically helped Billy Bitzer light the Intolerance night scene with those magnesium flare torches.
Patrick has this uncanny ability to inject drama and humor and personality into a historical depiction of an event and bring it to life on multiple levels. And certainly, that began in our collaboration with Harold and Lillian. In this case, we decided to go for a period look that is born out of the cartoon magazine illustrations of the time and looking at the cartoon of the Pathe Brothers from 1910... I thought it was important to use art. The criteria is I would only use an original artwork by Patrick if there were no historical photographs.
Tumblr media
Stecher: Can you tell me about working with Kevin Brownlow and Leonard Maltin, two celebrated film historians featured in the documentary, as well as actor Michael McKean who narrated?
Raim: Working with Michael McKean with the narration [was] really great... first of all he's a TCM fan... He is one of the great American actors who brought into his narration knowledge and love of film history. He's so dynamic at drama and comedy. And he did all the voices as well as the narration of the different interviews. He did the voice of Billy Bitzer and William Daniels. And then there's Kevin Brownlow... [with] his wealth of knowledge about silent film. I didn't want to interview Kevin Brownlow just as a talking head.
I wanted to interview Kevin Brownlow as someone who can share with us their passion and their insight. I'm interested in Kevin Brownlow as a character, not as an interview subject. I hope the film gives Kevin Brownlow the breathing space to really... connect with him as a character, and so I really try to make him comfortable to really be who he is and not edit around him but let him breathe, let the film really see him and spend time with him and not make it into sound bites. But, boy, can he talk about William Daniels.
Tumblr media
Then of course, Leonard Maltin's interesting because when he was 24 he came out to Hollywood for the first time to write a book that was published called The Art of the Cinematographer. I loved how just eloquent Leonard was bringing to life the contributions of Billy Bitzer, specifically, and Charles Rosher and spoke eloquently to the transition from silent to sound. He brought his own personality into it. I love the moment where he says, "And then comes sound, and all of that beauty and all of the luster of those late silent films vanishes as if a meat cleaver has been whacked down mercilessly on an art form." For me, that's just so much the essence of what I also want to communicate in IMAGE MAKERS: the passion that people like Kevin Brownlow and Leonard Maltin have for silent filmmaking.
Stecher: What do you hope viewers take away from Image Makers?
Raim: I hope is that when audiences continue to watch classic Hollywood movies on TCM, in this case, that they'll be looking at the scenes with new eyes and going, "who is the cinematographer and what is the continuity of style? And how did he light this scene?" Then getting a sense of the kind of incredible contribution of the motion picture cinematographer, as well as sort of an appreciation of the art and the technology that enabled them to do what they did.

ennegrams of eye
I enter for insight and grace of truth
----
Not so easy to come to the paper today. Though it was much easier to meet the body today. And both last night.
Was watching a video yesterday on Ennegram and Non Duality
https://youtu.be/ajoce4FqH2s , i sense this realm of AND. The realm of AND is both the realms of confusion and clarity. When the binaries of right and wong dissolves. To keep holding on to the  steady gaze of the observer as colours flood in , is keeping the nose above the water and the vantage at the brink, to be able to see both the worlds.
How does one not give into confusion?
How does one keep finding clarity?
One does by maintaining one's intention for it, i suppose.
AND in Theatre
Our Theatre put out this animation Pyade- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJkuoLIqszo&t=25s. Of pawns having a conversation. About wanting a shot at the King. A chaaver. To take the place of the king. ANd it is a perspective i have instinctively subscribed to. But today, maybe another vantage opens up. I also see the evolution of systems to maximise chances of collective survival. “The king” then is the epitome of the evolution of the culture - of body, mind,  and essence; hence is guarded. Is trusted to choose for the collective as the wisest/strongest visionary among them.
As i understand the logic of the system now, i also simultaneously see the pawn. Wanting a shot at the throne.Maybe for pure ideas of power. Or believes that the person occupying the throne of the leader is not the fittest/epitome that the culture has produced; and for the onward progress of the collective, must be replaced by someone else who is the wisest/strongest visionary.
How does one decide who the strongest/wisest to administer the flow of energy of power?-- is the realm of politics.
Now when i watch the animation - i only hope the pawn has worked and developed his body/mind/essence to replace the king. A case of envy or retribution, or simple craving for power - doesn't entitle one to lead. It takes a vastness of essence.
Obviously, i am not alluding to the recent crop of leaders or corrupt kings and queens as the benchmark and reference. Maybe I speak more of the principle of the apex.
A Raja/Rani must be from the realms of AND. Not either or.
And if one can dream much further than that, everyone who is part of the culture is far well-developed in body/mind/essence that anyone can be “King”. Can take turn, by the week , by the day, by the year, by the moment, and perform the duties and experience the king-ness. Then the title is no matter, just the function of the moment.
In theatre, does it translate to a space where it is not that there is no protagonist, if i stretch it,  then no one identifies as actor or director- for it matters not who is playing the role - because everyone is equally able to don any of the roles?
Wishful thinking? Where then lies the blindspot?
___
A friend shared Matham vitta pennu https://youtu.be/DROFI65Y-ag
Such a reminder of the time spent in kerala. And more importantly the innocence and freedom of the spirit that seeks its true free Self, unafraid.
__
And thats what leads to the Ennegram and Non Duality subject.
Every religion is an experience and insight, that is trying pass through time  - as the route back to the source. Within every religion is a collection of multiple of these routes and processes, “kriyas” as the sufi called them while being interviewed by Kabir Project. And every religion is as relevant time the times the intelligence of its practitioners. If the religion is seen as the anchor - then the practitioner is looking at the finger not the moon.  For the gaze to leave the finger and trace its path to the moon, is to reach the source through the realm of the unknown. Not easily done. Fear and confusion is part of the experience. But the eyes is at somepoint does leave the finger, and make that journey to the moon alone, sooner or later. Those still looking at the fingertips wont get it. Till they too take off from the fingertips.
How am i saying it? I dont know. Its not purely intellectual. Its not purely experiential either.
From No to Yes to AND
From Yes to No to AND
From Yes to AND
From No to AND
Are all valid. For its a circle. ANd not a line.
Tumblr media
(screenshotfrom the same talk)
Structures of all kinds are about the finger tip. Governments, Religions, they serve their purpose only so far as pointing. And if corrupt are capable of pointing the opposite way too.
In the realm of AND, they all are included, but they are not it.
The truth we seek is a freedom.
The truth i seek is totally absolutely free, and cannot be contained by any fingertips. That i sense, and i am certain of.
Maybe it can flow as stream through the centre of palms joined.
Maybe it can rest in the quietness of an open palm.
My fingers are learning to point less.
Pointless.
Brings us to the gaze. The eye. The point. The centre.
From the book on Embryonic Breathing in QiGong by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming...
“Your Shen resides in the Upper Dan Tian (i.e. brain} When you concentrate on The Third Eye, the Shen can be fìrmed. Firm here means to keep and to protect.
When someone's mind is scattered and confused, his Shen wanders. This is called "Shen Bu Shou She" ( 神 不 守 舍 ~ which means "the spirit is not kept at its residence." According to Qigong t h e o町 "though your Xin (Emotional M i n d , 心 ) is able to raise up your spirit, this mind can also make your Shen confused, so that it leaves its residence. You must constantly engage your Yi (Wisdom Mind) to restrain and con-trol your Shen at its residence.”
“To nourish the body by using medicine is not as good as by eating food; eating food is not as good as being nourished by Qi.”
“Physically, beneath the skin is the skull, and underneath it is the frontal sinus. Both the skull and the skin can block much of the energy which is emitted from or received by the brain.”
Tumblr media
The eye, the inner eye at the back of the eyes, are on slippery slope. Forever enticed to one one side on the other at all time.  The associations pointed out in that image is true even when ones eyes are closed. For eg, that time when im just waking up and i can notice which direction the thoughts appear from, it all streams in from one side or the other.

From respected leaders like NCAI Chair, Brian Cladoosby, to just about every Native high school or collegiate valedictorian giving a graduation speech, someone you encounter today will likely invoke this ubiquitous phrase.
Just who are the Seven Generations and how do we show proper respect for them? And what does this concept have to do with our modern nations, particularly, for the seventy Native governments that have cut individuals or entire families from their citizenship rolls? After more than twenty years of following this trend, it is clear that much can be learned from nations that respect their ancestors, themselves, and those to come. Such nations exemplify the true meaning of the Seven Generations by maintaining their integrity as peoples.
Vine Deloria, Jr. spoke of the Seven Generations in very practical terms. In his cantankerous way, he would express extreme annoyance at the romanticism of the concept as it was popularly used. Because, as explained to him, the generations we are sworn to protect and revere are the seven we are most immediately connected to.
Think about it for a moment. It is possible that many of us have known or will know our great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even if we aren’t fortunate enough to have been in the physical presence of those who came before us, we usually have stories, songs, and photos that have been shared so that we feel a connection. We also want to make sure our kids and grandkids are healthy, safe and aware of where they come from. So, counting our own generation—ourselves, siblings, and cousins—we are accountable to those seven generations, not some imagined futuristic peoples two hundred years down the road.
Deloria’s articulation of the Seven Generations makes so much more sense on a human scale and does away with the destructive myth of mystical, all seeing Natives. In truth, our peoples were visionary but not in a passive, new-age way. We actively tended our families and our clan-ties by holding the lives, memories, and hopes of all Seven Generations close. Each generation was responsible to teach, learn, and protect the three generations that had come before it, its own, and the next three. In this way, we maintained our communities for millennia.
Consider what happens when we think of the Seven Generations as only flowing from each of us as individuals, as seems to be the dominant interpretation today. Then we live in a world where we owe nothing to our predecessors, where we have only a tangential connection to our present-day relations, and where we have but a vague notion of the “future generations.”
We all know the dangers in this kind of thinking. When tribal leaders focus only on themselves and what it takes for them as individuals to succeed, then we have the basis for the surge of disenrollments we witness every day, where both the living and the dead are cast out and hope for the future is deeply compromised.
These disenrollments occur for a number of reasons. Some, such as fraudulent enrollment, dual membership, or failure to maintain contact with the home community are arguably legitimate; others, however, are fundamentally tainted and bear the mark of rank injustice—political power plays, economic greed, and pseudo-scientific arguments about insufficient blood quantum, among others.
And while the number of unjustified disenrollments continues to plague Indian Country, a small but determined and diverse chorus of individuals, organizations, and even a few Native nations (Spokane most recently), are raising substantive challenges to the egregious practice of dismembering otherwise legitimate citizens. It raises hope for those that have already been terminated and gives succor to those who face imminent dismemberment.
We have to keep in mind that nearly 500 of the currently recognized Native nations are not engaged in these acts of suicidal sovereignty. It behooves us, then, to ascertain what it is within those communities that has precluded them from cannibalizing their own kin. All nations have struggled mightily with the core question of who is entitled to clanship, citizenship, or membership. We are left with the legacy created by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and other federal agencies and departments as they imposed regulations and policies designed to reduce the number of Native citizens deemed “eligible” for federal or even treaty-based benefits.
Yet, despite the five centuries of colonial intrusions and the subsequent devastation that ensued, the large majority of Native nations seldom acted, prior to the modern era, to forcibly terminate otherwise bonafide relatives. Even now the dismemberment process is being engaged in by less than 12% of Native governments. Seventh Generation thinking appears relevant in precluding the vast majority of Indigenous peoples from disenfranchising their fellow citizens when they are otherwise lawfully enrolled.
Deron Marquez, former chair of the San Manuel Band of Serrano Indians in Southern California, points to the small population size of his community (a little over 200 members) as a key to their community health and membership stability. He believes that this simple fact is conducive to political and social cohesion as citizens are keenly familiar with one another and behave with a measure of respect based on a sense of kinship.
He also emphasizes the importance of San Manuel’s governing structure: a general council arrangement, whereby the membership adopts ordinances and sets policy for the Nation. This means that the people control the tribe’s officers so that no one person or small group can claim substantive authority. The entire community gathers monthly to discuss and guide the community’s affairs, providing every member an opportunity to raise questions, express concerns, or discuss grievances in a way that forestalls lingering resentments and retaliation. San Manuel citizens continuously respect and tend their familial bonds with one another.
For 38 years, W. Ron Allen, has served as the Chair and CEO of the Jamestown Band of S’Klallam, a small Washington state people. He exemplifies the role that dedicated and long-serving tribal leaders can play in facilitating a stronger dose of community cohesion and respect for the sovereignty of the people. Such leaders, by the dint of their character and length of time in office, provide stability and a frame of reference for community members and outside agents alike
Allen emphasizes that his small nation (around 600) also has in place a clearly articulated legal and political infrastructure. Their accompanying governing documents, including a constitution, provide due process safeguards for everyone and guide both policy makers and the people. The Jamestown Band of S’Klallam thus remembers their origins and pass the knowledge forward.
Finally, Ron Haven, a respected tribal attorney for the Dine Nation, our largest Native nation—nearly 300,000 strong—suggests that shared cultural values provide a principled foundation that, while not preventing conflict, seems to enable the Dine, an ever increasingly diverse people, to get along without resorting to the termination of political rights of fellow citizens.
Our conversation reminded me of an excellent book by Raymond Austin (Dine), a former Navajo Supreme Court justice, who analyzed how the Dine courts have sought to apply traditional values, especially theses—k’e (kinship through positive values), hozho (harmony, balance, and peace), and k’ei (the Dine clan system)—to deal with contemporary legal, political, and cultural conflicts.
Austin emphasized that Dine philosophy views the three central values as interrelated, and one of the goals of his book was to encourage other Native peoples to employ “their own cultural norms, values, and traditional institutions” to address current challenges. These values are a guide to tending the Seven Generations.
These are just three examples from three very different Native nations that highlight a few variables—demographics, committed and qualified leadership, community established legal and political institutions and procedures, and philosophical principles—that appear, at least for these nations to produce a degree of social cohesion that helps maintain membership stability.
Of course, we can easily find contrary example of small tribal nations that are disenrolling; nations with long-tenured leaders who wield virtually autocratic powers, including the power to terminate their fellow citizens; and nations where those who call themselves “traditional” sometimes exercise a harsh, almost fundamentalist, cultural code that can sometimes lead to the dismemberment of those viewed as too progressive or lacking sufficient blood quantum.

Reshaping the Future
Growing up in the digital age, it is expected of us to see, deal with and embrace technological changes and advances.
Tumblr media
Well, we are just people living our lives taking part and fitting in, in the varying society. Gone is the old era and a new one has come so quickly, continually changing every aspect of our lives leaving everyone no choice but to keep up no matter what needs to be left behind. But other young people like me doesn't need that much effort to move forward alongside with this technological advancements. And thinking that today, where it is at, will continue to be at for a long time to come. Children like us will continue to be born and the world must cater all the needs of its people so preparing for the young people of today's future is a top priority. Thus, taking our education to a whole new level.
Looking back at the history of education, it’s obvious that it had undergone multiple changes.
Tumblr media
From device-free classrooms, books and chalk to technology-based teaching and learning. Through the congested ideas of our philosophers in education, it had already come to that point of realization that learners play an equal significant role inside the classroom just as teachers do. That is why I support the line in the article which says,
“Society will be de-schooled to give way to a diverse learning eco-system driven by learners and their interests and no longer will schools dominate decisions about what and how to learn.”
It has made the curriculum learner-centered and aimed to create creative thinkers. This is what makes education pay more attention to the needs of the students through looking deeper at their nature and understanding their ways of learning. And now, seeing that children and teenagers are digital, education needs to take action on how to cater these kinds of students in the present and preparing them in the field years from now. We cannot teach them in the same manner our parents were taught during the early years, we need to embrace technology to make learning more engaging.
As said by Edutopia, integrating technology with face-to-face teacher time generally produces better academic outcomes than employing either technique alone. It also results in faster understanding, more learning of diverse materials that actually interests the students, more specialisation, and better recall.
And another thought from Heidi-Hayes Jacobs, teachers need to integrate technology seamlessly into the curriculum instead of viewing it as an add-on, an afterthought, or an event.
Tumblr media
Looking closely on integrating technology in teaching and learning, we can see that it points out to the new buzzword in the field of education today—Education 4.0.
Education 4.0 puts premium on mobile learning, individualized learning playlist, flexible and customized curriculum and hands-on and practical application of knowledge. It essentially uses technology-based tools and resources to drive education in non-traditional ways.
Tumblr media
Meaning, students aren’t stuck to pen, paper and chalk only instead technology is used in the classroom to help them search and learn dynamic materials.
Tumblr media
It looks so simple since we are in the 21st Century but the challenge here is that even though teachers wanted to integrate technology in teaching, are all resources available? Or if the resources are enough, are our teachers capable of teaching with these technologies?
Here in the Philippines, I think it is a real struggle for us to achieve the goals of Education 4.0. It is either we don’t have enough resources or we cannot reach those remote places. Because education also aims for “No child left behind”. Other things to be addressed are the roles the business sector, community and the parents play. The school itself can’t get all the work done.
It needs help from the outside and setting clear expectations on the roles of each sector will contribute to the desired outcome. Business sectors can provide more quality educational materials and can lend experts that are actually exposed to the field to train students.
And on the roles of the parents at home, they should know that their children need constant support and control from them when using gadgets. The challenge is how to balance their use of technology for entertainment and for education.
It is still a struggle but I see we can do it. I can notice that the training of the teachers is one of the biggest step we are taking right now. Some teachers of today experienced the traditional way of teaching and learning and here they are, teaching the new generation. But what is good is that they are trying to cope by making an effort to grow in their profession with technology. And now in every classroom, we are taking little steps into reaching the goals of Education 4.0.
In shaping the 21st Century, we have to consider many things—the objectives of education, the curriculum, how assessment strategies work, the kind of technology infrastructure involved, and how leadership and policy facilitate attaining education goals (Dede, Harvard University).
If we want to achieve that Education 4.0 quality education here in the Philippines, we need to be visionary. We must look forward, in the future--what will happen, what will change, what do we need to replace in the present to reshape the future. We might not be ready by now, but I'm sure soon, we will.
We just need to put into mission our visions of the future education system and we will achieve it, step by step.
"Technology can become the “wings” that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before—if we will allow it." - Jenny Arledge

In the Paynes, Harry finds the big family he's always longed for...and a love he never saw coming.
Can't Help Falling || Anonymous || open ending - 15k The one where Harry's a workaholic, until best mates Liam and Niall drag him away for a holiday to Ibiza.
24K Magic || Justalittlelouislove || famous/not famous - drug use - 32k A fic based on 24k Magic by Bruno Mars, in which Harry's a mess and famous, Louis is a mess and not, Liam and Zayn are probably hiding something, and Niall is a horrible flatmate.
For You I'd Bleed Myself Dry || amomentoflove || vampires - past abuse - slow burn - angst - depression - anxiety - 50k Harry is cold. His bones ache. Every movement draws a whimper from his cracked lips. The stone underneath him is practically like ice. He’s numb, but can clearly feel the sharp pains on his neck every timeHe visits him. Below the icy cold, the achy bones, and the pain on his neck, Harry Styles is pissed. There’s a fire burning in his mind and the anger for the man who keeps him imprisoned is the fuel. He despises him, the man who feeds from him and is a daily reminder that Harry’s suffering won’t end. The man who keeps Harry so weak that he can barely move most days. Harry’s waiting for the day when his owner will go too far and finally kill him. Death must be better than this cold hell he is in. It won’t happen, though. He has a way of keeping Harry’s heart beating. So for now, all Harry can do is wait for death to come. He’s been waiting for years.
Consequences || allwaswell16 || amnesia - exes to lovers - getting back together - injury recovery - angst - 74k Two years ago Harry let his powerful family come between him and the love of his life, something he deeply regrets. Louis has tried to move on from their devastating break up. Sometimes, he even thinks he has. It only takes one moment to freeze them back in time.
The Fire and the Fate || dimpled_halo || A Star Is Born AU - depression - alcohol abuse/alcoholism - addiction - drug abuse - famous/not famous - angst - hurt/comfort - break up - post-break up - getting back together - 56k An A Star is born au with a happy ending. Harry is a troubled musician about to reach the end of his rope when he finds Louis singing in a club one night. He’s instantly mesmerised by the man with blue eyes and breathtaking voice.
And That's The Tea || 2tiedships2 || a/b/o - soulmates - strangers to lovers - friends to lovers - 27k The one where Louis loses his soulmate before even getting the chance to meet them, and he is in no way prepared for the kind of distraction his new friend Harry proves to be.
I Must Confess (I Still Believe) || objectlesson || High School - Catholic School - Girl Direction - coming of age - self-discovery - self-doubt - self-acceptance - angst - pining - slow burn - internalized homophobia - 44k Harry is the new girl at an all girl Catholic Girl's School, and Louis is the unattainable, dashing senior who changes her forever.
Like A Siren In The Night || whoknows || a/b/o - light dom/sub - 24k “There is an infestation in my home,” Louis hisses, righting himself quickly and pushing his way past Harry, heading directly for the kitchen. He’s rather haphazardly dressed himself, a coat thrown on over a loose flannel shirt and black pants, slippers on his feet. Harry resists the urge to sigh, closing the door and trailing behind him slowly. “What kind of infestation?” For all he knows, Louis is going to claim that there’s a ghost infestation. Harry has no idea what the end game is here – all he knows is that Louis has found at least three complaints a week to bring up since he’s been living on Harry’s property, and he’s been living here for six months. It’s way too many fucking complaints, is what Harry is saying. Especially when most of them are ridiculous to start with.
Let Me (Be Your Girl) || dimpled_halo || Girl Direction - cheating - pwp - 6k Louis hires Harry to help her find out things about her husband. What she doesn't expect is to discover some things about herself in the process.
Come together || bottomlinsons || college/university - One Night Stands - miscommunication - angst - pining - 11k Harry and Louis slept together three weeks ago, and haven't talked. Their coming group project is gonna change that.
Tonight's not over (come over and stay) || louistomlinsons || famous/not famous - fluff - 17k Harry is a famous singer and louis is a student who just wants to write his novel
Born Ready For You || taggiecb || Sequel to That's What I'm Here For - children - adoption - family drama - 2k Harry and Louis' life gets turned upside down once again with an unexpected visitor.
Getting high in mine || bottomlinsons || meet-cute - drug use - 4k Getting home from a festival is miserable by any method, but a three-hour train ride is truly the bottom of the barrel. This time, though, with the help of the cute guy sitting on the floor, it might not be so bad.
The Daddiest Place on Earth || lovelarry10 || Social Media - Disney World & Disneyland - strangers to lovers - 23k Louis. Harry. Instagram. A whole lot of confusion and a whole lot of laughs...
I Won't Give Up So Come And Get Me || runaway_train || strangers to lovers - Blind Date - 15k The one where Louis meets Harry and it all just seems too good to be true...
Picking Up The Pieces || Halos_Boat || strangers to friends to lovers - angst - slow burn - emotional hurt/comfort - 72k Harry just signed his second set of divorce papers. He felt like his life was over, like he had nothing left. Then he meets Louis.
Ready, baby? || jaerie || pain kink - rope bondage - earrings - 1k Harry gets an earring. Louis is the one to do it. Or a pain kink drabble.
Impress Me || lightswoodmagic (sarah_writes) || Chefs - homelessness - fluff - 5k Harry's a new chef who can't cook to save himself, but when he meets Louis, he learns more than he thought possible
Drunk in Love (last thing I remember) || MrsStylinson || fluff - pining - banter - 22k The one where Louis wakes up, naked, in a stranger's bed and has no idea how he got there. Maybe it's foul play. Maybe it's just the kindness of a handsome stranger amused by his drunken antics.
Take The Bitter With The Sweet || rainbowslovehl (Larrymateforlife) || Coffe Shops - fluff - pining - 7k Liam recruits Louis to spy on the 'rival cafe', which Louis is less than enthusiastic about but it does lead him Harry, the pretty barista who works there.
Harry Poppins || jacaranda_bloom || strangers to lovers - kid fic - hurt/comfort - past character death - fluff - 32k When Louis’ best friends pass away he finds himself with an instant family. Maddie and Thomas are wonderful children but take an immediate dislike to every nanny that sets foot inside their house. After nanny number six is summarily dismissed Louis is at his wit’s end, that is until an unusual man arrives on their doorstep. Harry Styles is like nothing any of them have ever encountered before, and perhaps, exactly what they’ve been looking for all along.
You Bring Me Home || reminiscingintherain || Saving Mr Banks AU - fluff - 22k The one where Louis wants to turn Harry's book into a film, and Harry's very picky about what happens.
Big, Bright World || || pining - jealousy - slow burn - cheating - miscommunication - 35k It really was just a little crush in the beginning, nothing to be worried about. Louis had never really liked anyone he'd worked with in the past, but he was sure he could control himself. Little did he know that over time his 'little crush' would develop into a blazing inferno of Hell-fire proportions. Every day, Louis' feelings became more intense, more immediate, each little smile and gesture and silly flirtation mounting up into something palpable, with a life of its own. Louis felt it every moment they were together. The only problem? Harry was engaged to someone else and had been from the moment Louis started working at Visionary.
Barren Souls || Snowy38 || Dystopian - mpreg - angst - emotional hurt/comfort - 37k It's 2907 and things are different. Organic men and women are no longer fertile and only genetically modified humans are permitted to procreate. The sexes have equalled, men are able to give birth in these dire times and roles have been created to both sire children ('Stud') and carry them ('Provider'). Public displays of affection are a criminal offence and the procreators cannot get emotionally attached without severe consequences. Harry has hit 19, the legal age to bear children. He's looking forward to producing babies for his host family and he's just had his placement confirmed. All that's left now is to meet the Stud who'll impregnate him. It might tug at his heartstrings thinking about the beautiful babies he'll be carrying who he'll have to let go but he's trained for this. He's spent his whole life preparing. Being a Provider is a special job and Harry's one of the chosen.
In a sky full of stars, be my Northern lights || Anonymous || strangers to lovers - fluff - travel - 13k It's one of those nights there's nothing on the telly that Louis absently scrolls through Tinder. After swiping left on a bunch of profiles he comes face to face with a picture that stops him in his tracks. The picture is..almost sweet. It’s a boy with brown curly hair, wearing a very low cut yellow blouse, paired with a black jacket. He’s got a smile on his face and his tongue sticking out, but it’s not in any way lewd or suggestive. He just looks like he’s having a good time, and something about the innocence of it has him swiping right rather than left. He’s barely checked the other pictures on the boy's profile before Tinder confirms that he’s got a match. The shots are so different from the pictures Louis is used to on Tinder - half naked boys who are smoldering at the camera - that he can’t help but smile. It quickly turns into a frown when he opens up the message he’s just received. Harry: Hello! Harry: Thank you for swiping right Harry: I have a proposition for you

73. DREAMS come true
Tumblr media
3... 2... 1... Blast Off! And the drawing’s Done. I’m most of all happy with how fast I doodled it out using Microsoft’s free ‘Notebook’ drawing/writing software on my Tablet, and that’s truly down to the app’s accessibility. Could I have used more powerful sketching software? Yes. Would it have resulted in a better drawing? Probably. But trying to juggle layers in Sketchbook or fight with the insufferable clunkiness of Photoshop is just something I don’t enjoy facing, and so I’ll stick to my quick simple doodles. And I’m happy with that.
Because making it all result oriented can sometimes destroy the enjoyment of the process, (not that I’m saying a result isn’t important, rather the journey is equally crucial) and I openly admit that I sketch away on Notebook because I enjoy it for many of the same reasons I adore writing: It’s the fastest way to get my ideas down.
Throughout my entire childhood, my imagination was fast and fickle, Ideas rushing in faster than I could output them, which resulted in a short attention span on any projects that took longer than, well, a sit-down. And so when a tool pops up that allows me to get ideas down faster, which potentially cuts out that “Photoshop” middleman, it ALWAYS draws my attention, especially if it yields the same high-end results.
But, as a filmmaker who wants to dabble in music, Game design and anything and everything, these tools seldom pop up. Sure, everything’s most certainly become more user-friendly, especially with such game engines like ‘Unity’ and ‘Unreal 4′ now becoming freely accessible, cutting out a lot of Dev. time/hurdles. But these advancements have never articulated in the form of tools that make animating, game design, music and everything in-between feel as intuitive as the sketch I did above on my Tablet or the essay I’m plonking out on my keyboard as we speak (or read).
Until recently, most notably announcements of an upcoming Tool made at the last Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
But let us jump back a moment for there’s an origin to this great new tool; an earlier iteration that’s celebrating it’s Ten-year anniversary right now, a birthday I’m personally celebrating with the way it changed games/creativity forever. I know that sounds hyperbole, but trust me when I say this comes from the most Sincere place in my heart, a heart that yearned throughout my entire childhood as I stuck together simple stick men levels in Alien Hominid (Ps2, 2004) or laid out cookie cutter racetracks in RC Revenge Pro (Ps2, 2000) for the game I speak of next brought that childlike wonder back into my heart. I’m speaking of the warm, fuzzy, ambitious and very successful:
Tumblr media
Released Ten years ago by Media Molecule (also known as Mm), a small team compiled of such visionaries like Alex Evans and Mark Healy which was founded in 2006*, their first outing on Ps3 from a distance looks like a simple fabric styled platformer. But sown (excuse the pun) deep into the fabric (sorry) of its very roots were creative ideas that grew larger than life.
* 2006 also being the year they released ‘Rag Doll Kung Fu’ which was the first third-party game to be distributed on Steam. Their progressive thinking was there from the start.
The articulation of these ideologies can be best expressed through Mark Healy’s early foray into game development when he programmed titles for the Commodore 64 (Console, 1982, also known as C64). The C64 was the Guinness Record champion for most units sold at 10-17 million units, a record laid to rest with future consoles such as PS2 hitting over 155 Million. Yet, in recent interviews, Mark has spoken of those open source tools that allowed him to create with relative ease, and how as future consoles rolled out into people's homes which ended up selling more and more with each passing generation, that accessibility to create was lost. I mention the word ‘accessibility’ like a broken record because that’s the very word Media Molecule seem to have as their unofficial modus operandi. It’s their very soul!
And it was this very soul that was poured into their 2008 juggernaut, Little Big Planet (Also known as LBP), which was teased far earlier than it’s release (to my impatient frustration); I saw the announcement perhaps a year before, the game post-phoned, but I had a taste of the potential and it was the only thing my heart called out for every day leading up to its release*. Finally, a game that gave me the tools to make my very own games.
* This part was actually true. Extreme? Sure, but I was stuck on an Farm growing up so it was the light in my tunnel.
The Puzzle Platformer’s official slogan was “Play, Create, Share”, basically boiling down to a Gaming Youtube with the tools ready built in. Here’s a cute 10-year-old trailer that best expressed this warm fun collaborative charm and it’s progressive stance on creativity (as well as one of the funkiest Game soundtracks from recent memory). You could make levels with ease, publish, get “views” (in this case, plays) and “likes” (expressed through Hearts) and then surf Mm’s servers to play other's creations. The first worry expressed by Critic’s was that no one would want to make levels, but Youtube as a creative platform was already the monolith of proof that this was not the case; people wanted creative output, and once the game was released with Metacritic scores averaging around 95% the Game sold well and the coMmunity was born.
The creative tools were easy to grasp but hard to master, the layers of ways to utilise them for more complicated contraptions and professionally polished levels took time to learn; fumbling around to mediocre results might draw you to the conclusion that quality couldn’t be obtained, but Mm cleverly put those anxieties to rest by including a campaign that was built exclusively with those very same tools. You had no excuse apart from “lack of practice”, and this pushed the coMmunity to make all kinds of contraptions from Mm’s physics-based engine, including someone building a fully functioning Calculator (the Creator even allowing you to fly around Jet-pack style to see how complicated the mechanisms were; turns out, very).
LBP 2 built on that success, implementing a new refined tool called ‘Logic’ (among other improvements) which was an array of different microchips with simple functions that could be wired together to essentially ‘code’ objects to do your bidding. It was deceptively simple and never bogged down the ease that was at the heart of LBP’s Creative tool-set. The step up between games showed up past ‘peak’ coMmunity created inventions (namely the previously mentioned calculator) as bare-bones in what you could achieve with this new instalment.
I poured hours into these games, playing every LBP sequel; the future iterations were handled well by Sumo Digital (LBP 3) and Tarsier Studios, Double Eleven and XDev (LBP Vita). Mm also produced the Bafta-winning Vita/Ps4 Tearaway which I’m part way through now, enjoying endlessly in an attempt to fill the void till their next highly anticipated game.
For once again they’ve teased a pipeline title which the public await with bated breath; their next instalment in their Creative franchise (and the very reason I’m writing this article) doesn’t just build on their previous efforts of community-based tools but fully realises them. They finally made what I and many others have always wanted, a Gaming engine with the ease of drawing; a level creator that’s as simple as me typing on this keyboard; the true Youtube of gaming:
Tumblr media
I love the LBP franchise a whole lot (still play it now), but whatever I built always felt a construct of ‘LBP’; the most approachable expressive tools I’ve ever used still restricted by the 2.5D realm of Sackboy’s recognisably cloth based world, and while you could creatively open up the borders to reveal new perspectives and ways to make games there was always the nagging feeling that you weren’t truly making YOUR game, you were making a game for Mm. This wasn’t their fault, and it’s not like you could point at any other accessible tool to exemplify these faults, because Mm was leading the charge, and still are. But this upcoming release of their new title aptly named Dreams (Beta 2018, full release TBA) shows with ease that Mm doesn’t just continue to lead this push forward, but are doing so with such an extent as to potentially shake up the gaming industry; for you truly are now making YOUR game.
Strong words are easily backed up with results I’ll show further down, but the final hurdle on their next instalment’s success isn’t just the quality or function of the final output (which Mm shows with confidence on their near-weekly streams and collaborations with other gaming developers via Twitch/Youtube) but with how the market will react to it, or if they even will react at all considering a relatively quiet reception in the wake of AAA games like Red Dead 2 and other heavyweights.
But before we discuss that further, speaking of a game like this with mere words doesn’t really do Dreams justice. I’ve watched nearly every video they’ve released across this last year so here are, in my opinion, the videos that best exemplify what their upcoming game/tool has to offer:
Trailer (TGA 2017 Trailer), which is the shortest of the bunch, quickly highlighting the general feel and look of Dreams.
Game Informer’s playthrough of campaign levels, which is fantastically demoed by Veteran Mm founder and C64 programmer Mark Healey.
A run through of fun bite-sized levels made by their team, showing off the astounding variety and how each level flows into the next like a Youtube playlist.
And should you choose to watch only one of these videos, choose this next one; Game Informer’s Rapid-Fire Q sesh (with other Mm Founder Alex Evans), which isn’t just informative but should also be commended as creative and engaging journalism at it’s finest, running at the speed of a scripted TomSka Sketch* (It should be noted that Game Informer has been hitting it out of the park over the last month with their fun and insightful cover of Dreams).
* ’TomSka’: a popular Youtuber, famous for the ASDF Cartoon sketches and his fast and frentic comedic sketches. He’s done much, and with such a consistently recognisable style and tone across all projects it could be argued he’s an auteur, which excites me greatly that Youtube can own such a phrase and that ‘auteur’ could also translate to the users on Dreams (the platform I indulgently want to be referenced coining the term ‘Youtube of Gaming’. I’ll stop saying it when everyone else starts.)
TL;DR to sum up those clips: Dream’s works. Not just in regards to it building on LBP in every conceivable way (especially in being fully 3 dimensional) but also being easier to use, with motion controls utilised to essentially free-mould the level around you, and the jump between creative and playing being even more seamless; I was previously going to link three individual videos, title-ing them ‘PLAY’, ‘CREATE’ and ‘SHARE’ respectively, knowing there are such videos that focus on each aspect out there (shown at this year’s E3), but the Videos linked above demonstrate far clearer how the boundaries between those three different worlds are getting harder and harder to define; less “Play, create, share” and more “placrehare”... which isn’t as catchy but you get the idea.
Tumblr media
Above: Picture of the Mm Team taken by Game Informer during their visit.
Everything about this game covers all aspects of game creation, even in terms of building a CV the defines your best skills (Animator, Modeler, Musician etc.) and then allowing you to allocate different roles to different creators (if you so wish). Objects/characters/music/levels etc. can be shared and remixed, creating a library of never-ending stock objects which either help fill in your weaknesses or set up a foundation to build on. Everything is built around a coMmunity which is so heartwarming considering an industry which, much like the film industry, is very clicky and “who you know”.
To prove how Mm appose this, and help highlight their deep-set sincerity, online creators from some of the finest levels on LBP were later hired by Mm to work in their company on future projects based on how well they grasped the tools. Mm recognised them for their talents and allowed these artists to flourish, artists who may have never broken into their dream profession without that much-needed step up.
This harks back to that phrase I’m trying to coin: “A Youtube of Gaming”. Film-making has gotten far more approachable over the last 10 years with equipment becoming progressively more affordable and every PC/MAC coming pre-loaded with editing software. The ability to share with ease online has helped many Video creators land roles in the industry or even create their own*.
* Youtube channels FreddieW (now named Rocketjump) and Corridor Digital (founded by Niko and Sam) springing to mind; their effects driven action/comedic shorts is what made many even consider film-making as an option (they even put out free tutorials/BTS) and their channels frequently collaborate with each other, other channels and even known names (Smosh, Key and Peele, and Jimmy Kimmel to name a few).
And so this is what makes Dreams so special; a chance to lower down the industries’ impenetrable defences and highlight player’s hidden talents with a tool that’s grown beyond ‘making levels for Mm’s games’ and matured (while retaining its essential charm) into a fully fledged game engine*.
* Many of you might think I’m counting eggs before they’ve hatched; understandable, but even if the game came out as a mere shadow of it’s intentions (which at this lately developed stage I doubt considering their showcases), the idea is already there. With VR and motion controls improving across all platforms there will doubtlessly be an imitator who can pick up where they left, improving from their failures. Failures I believe unlikely due to Mm’s track record of achievement and future support (they’re very involved with their CoMmunity, hence why I’ve placed a Mm in every use of the word CoMmunity (not my idea btw, Mm do this themselves)).
But more importantly than this future engine’s apparent depth is it’s accessibility, which cleans the slate of any straight up coding (LBP’s ’Logic’ is still there in spirit), rubs away clunky creation and puts all the tools under one roof with a platform to share and collaborate on. An infinite world of infinite creations that you can join your friends to play, Sofa sharing or online, streaming through playlists or creating, new content or remixed, in infinite combinations with infinite flexibility with an accessibility that has been unheard of until this game/engine.
Tumblr media
Above: Front Cover Mm did for Game Informer’s November issue, which was created entirely within Dreams.
Which brings me to why I’m writing this article. I’m not writing extensively of the tools you can use, I’m linking other journalists’ work and mostly speaking of Mm’s past and what their new game could mean; so what’s the function of this? Well, as mentioned earlier, their success on something so CoMmunity led will be based on how the CoMmunity utilise it, which first and foremost means they need a CoMmunity to start with. And as also mentioned earlier, I think the reception for this game is relatively quiet compared to larger AAA games; this feels wrong to me in so many ways, as Dreams with the right support could literally shake up the gaming industry and influx a new wave of creative talent, showcasing an entourage of new ideas; a French New Wave of Games but, well, British (at least in origin). And I want this to be heard. I’m writing this article because I want to support them, in an attempt to build awareness. Because I want them to succeed. For their success will change so much in so many innovative ways.
When I saw all this beautiful creative potential oozing from their E3 trailers earlier this year something inside me changed. It wasn’t a new feeling, not at all, rather a familiar one; one I missed. It was that childlike wonder I had so long ago; that awe and glee when I watched the announcement trailer for LBP; the many days I sat scribbling and doodling on the floor as a child in those long stretched out Summer holidays; those 3 hour long GCSE English Language exams where I would write out whatever story popped into my head (honestly, only exam I ever enjoyed). Those are some of the happiest days of my life: pure unchained creativity with seamless tools.
Finally, those days are returning. Finally, I can be a child once more. And hopefully, so can you <3
