- we’ve all seen the headcanon that gomez is allergic to roses and that’s why morticia cuts their petals off?? yeah??? it extends to wednesday, she’s allergic to them too, enid brings her thorns or just simply black viola’s

-why that instead of black dahlias? they’re wednesday’s favorite in the show? trauma. thornhill gifted them to her, thornhill tried to kill her and the people she loves. she’s not open about it, she likes to seem like she’s not effected, but enid always knows.

-werewolves, canines i might add, cannot consume chocolate. this includes enid. she hates it. she absolutely hates it.

-wednesday goes back for the snood

-enid has angsty poems and short stories in her notes app, they are directed towards her mother

-the lesbian flag sweater enid owns was a gift from yoko, when enid realized her sexuality she gave the vampire girl an earful and asked “why didn’t you tell me!??”

Is Enide aceflux? From the artwork a while back (the I can’t party one) I assumed she was lesbian from the colors until you said she was bi, and since aceflux is quite similar to the lesbian flag (depending on which flag) got kinda curious if she is or not

Isn't a writer question but was curious; How does wenclair different from other ships you've enjoyed?

Is it solely due to having been a lifelong Wednesday Addams fan, or is it specifically the Netflix's Addams world that you find intriguing?

I ask mainly because I recall you once saying that your wenclair comics--specifically the Next Gen Au I believe--are written and made with a lot of intention in regards to dialog and the discussions had between characters.

Is this due to a greater insight into the characters or simply a mark of growth in writing comprehension?

I like to think I put as much thought in all ships I've been hyperfixated on tbh. Wenclair isn't even the one I've been obsessed with the longest. So far it's actually Trimberly, for which and I was hyperfixated with for like 3 years.

But yeah ok I get ur point lol The intensity this time feels different, I suppose.

I think it's a mix of both being a long time Wednesday Addams fan and how cute of a ship Wenclair is both in concept and the canon execution of their dynamics.

As some of you are aware, I've been a fan of The Addams for a while now. All incarnations of them are great in their own way, but one of the many reasons why the animated 2019 movie is my favorite is because it didn't give Wednesday a bland ass male love interest. I don't think the B/W series did it(because Wed was like six in that) but the 90's movies, musical, and netflix series for some reason found it necessary to give Wednesday male love interests so painfully boring and i hate it. This isn't even about making Wednesday attracted to boys. I personally headcanon her bi, as the ol' stereotype that all grumpy/angsty female characters must be lesbian isn't my cup of tea, and also because I like to think all Addamses just don't give a shit about gender when it comes to romance. I woulda been fine with her getting a boyfriend so long as they're not boring af and goddddd canon incarnations still haven't delivered. Joel was sweet but he was too much of a wimp, not even Gomez is that pathetic. Lucas' thing with Wednesday was just portrayed in such an icky way in the musical that I couldn't finish watching by the time their sexually charged duet came on, and don't even get me started on the boys Netflix gave her. I expected better of Gough and Millar...(unless the blandness was on purpose like it was with Lana Lang--)

Anyways, because of all said canon love interests, I've been desperate for Wednesday to have a love interest that is both not painfully het or boring for once. Crossover shipping with Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice the Musical was fun but was ultimately a very niche fandom. I could only draw and write for an audience of twenty or so people for so long. Parker from the animated movie would've been great, but the cop out with her mom dating Fester just made it too weird for me to be fully on board with the ship.

So when Enid Sinclair was introduced as a character I was absolutely ecstatic. On paper alone she already seemed great. She has a very distinct appearance (even if her "design" was inspired by Harlequin and it shows) that goes so well when she stands next to Wednesday, whether it's in the actual show, fan arts, or even in official merch. Her being Wednesday's complete opposite in so many ways makes her being paired with Wednesday so dang interesting too.

And I don't just mean aesthetic or personality wise. I'm talking about how one of Wednesday's struggle stems from having too much smothering love from her family as someone who gets overwhelmed too easily, and Enid's loneliness and insecurity coming from her own family's lack of love and attention where it matters most. Or how Wednesday's just girl who, deep inside worries about being an actual cruel monster like the very bigots she hates, while Enid is a supposed beast who resents herself for only being a scared little girl. Even the fact that Wednesday is an older sister to a soft-hearted younger brother while Enid is the youngest daughter to a bunch of rough-housing older brothers feels very on purpose.

Everything about Enid feels deliberate. Like she IS supposed to be paired with Wednesday, platonically or romantically. She's the best person to stand beside Wednesday as a character because they have enough differences and similarities to have interesting conflicts but also significant character growths sparked by each other. She's not bland or boring like the canon love interests because even without her attachment to Wednesday, Enid is still such a compelling character. The mere fact that she's as popular as she is despite an eight-episode series being her debut in a franchise that's been iconic to generations is already pretty amazing, and only a character as impressive deserves to smooch somebody as iconic as Wednesday Addams.

And their on screen chemistry is just *chef's kiss*

Fic idea: college au, aged up characters!!!

wednesday and enid meet at the weathervane, wednesday sat in her usual booth while enid was admiring her from afar. Enid gasses herself up to go and talk to the goth, she ends up complimenting her and attempting to strike up conversation. They have a quick convo as wednesday had made it a point to be very obvious about looking enid up and down. Almost as if to intimidate the wolf, wednesdays eyes stop at enids chest, specifically the right side. There embroidered on her sweatshirt were the initials to the college wednesday attends.

“i see you attend nevermore as well.”

“oh yeah, wait you go there too?? that’s crazy! i’ve never seen you before!!”

enid is very obviously excited that the goth attends her school.

after a quick and short convo about classes and what they major in enid eventually says her goodbyes and hopes to see her around campus.

Thankfully enid does end up seeing wednesday around campus, everyday for about a month or so enid would make it her mission to talk to wednesday atleast once a day, which lead to them becoming “swell acquaintances” according to wednesday.

later on about a month and a week after meeting enid gets invited to a party that yoko and ajax are hosting together, obviously enid ends up going and she has a great time.

enids sitting next to ajax on the couch with a drink in her one hand and a “special brownie” in the other.

about an hour or so later enid could really start to feel the effects of the brownie, so when a short goth sat down next to her on the couch she could’ve swore she had imagined her.

“wednesday?”

“sinclair.”

“what are you doing here?”

“i’m simply here out of pity. my acquaintance bianca had invited me. She guilted me by admitting that her ex was going to be attending this soirée. Apparently not everyone is all for attending a “party” alone while their brooding ex snoop around them.”

“oh, okay.”

enid, not all there. Was very tired and wasn’t able to warn wednesday when ajax offered an unknowing wednesday a “special brownie.” within 30 minutes wednesday had begun feeling the effects since her tolerance was not high. This also meant that for someone of her size and low tolerance, that much weed intake was guaranteed to make you “trip out”. 

“enid, i fear that your acquaintance  has poisoned me, i have no other choice than to skin him and force you to watch.”

enid, obviously and rightfully freaked out explained that the brownie was just weed infused. wednesday admits to enid that she’s never had weed before, enid reassures her that she’d try her best to take care of wednesday if anything were to go wrong.

hours go by with enid and wednesday talking about nothing and everything all at once, they have a really nice conversation. Enids head is tilted back and she’s looking up at the ceiling when she feels a certain head lay upon her lap.

“apologies sinclair, i seem to have lost control over my own body.”

enid disregards the way her heart felt like it was pounding outside of her chest.

an hour goes by of them talking and enid admiring wednesday who hadn’t worn a glare on her face for atleast 20 minutes which is a record for the girl.

as both of them began to doze off on the couch yoko awoke both of them and offered them to stay in her room since it was the closest and yoko wouldn’t be using it anyway since she was staying in divinas room. wednesday obviously out of her mind had absolutely no rejections to this idea and followed behind enid as enid guided her to the room.

“don’t worry, i’ll sleep on the floor. I’m not a creeper.”

“nonsense, for whatever unfathomable reason i seem to have grown a disgusting sense of trust to you.”

enid knew wednesday would never admit to that when sober, nonetheless they got in bed and obviously enid did the lesbian prevention barrier in between them so wednesday wouldn’t feel uncomfortable.

with that enid turned off the lamp that was next to them, leaned over, laid a quick and small kiss atop wednesdays forehead, said goodnight, turned over and immediately passed out. Wednesday however couldn’t sleep at all due to enids show of affection.

The next morning enid awoke to an empty bed and a throbbing headache. later on she attempted to reach out through bianca to wednesdays but it was no use, it seemed like wednesday was ghosting her and she hated it.

eventually she stumbles across wednesday at the weathervane and demands answers. wednesday end up lying to enid about why she hasn’t spoken to her since the night of the party.

Can men do any form of divination work in your interpretation of outcasts? There have been plenty of male psychics, but none doing Wednesday's sort of magic. Though very few men were accused during the most well-known witch trials (though there were still some), there were many men accused in other countries like Russia Many authors intentionally choose to exclude male witches from their work simply because there's plenty of male representation already, but it varies whether not that means no men at all or if simply none are presented to the audience. So I'm curious to know your view on it in the context of outcasts and the Network (I will say I'm only on chapter 21 so there may be a character I'm not aware of yet)

I just snorted; there is a character you are loosely aware of and haven’t met in-person yet as of chapter twenty-one and oh boy, can he perform psychic/magic-adjecent feats.  For the magic “rules” I have in place in CftF, anyone is capable of tapping into the energy of the universe and perform feats of divination, though obviously Psychics, particularly Seers, would be more naturally inclined to be open to these channels due to their Outcast abilities. Wednesday’s lineage on the Frump side and the whole “homespun magic” piece is intentionally matriarchal. Indeed, all the way up to the end, you will notice that only women (outside of QBB in the ether) have been seen doing divination in the story regardless of the Frump family, though. Is this a coded message that women are stronger than men in this area within the CftF world? Or does the author just think about men so infrequently that she didn’t even consider to include any males in the scenes that involved these practices, lmfao?

In general - my writings are by The Girls™ for The Girls™ All other genders and expressions of gender are welcome to read of course, but might not find themselves connecting as deeply as I specifically call to some of the female and lesbian struggle, written by a lesbian who really writes for herself, and edited only by lesbian eyes as well lol (even before Wednesday and Enid are together in chapter 13 - the subtext of her struggle prior to is related to that experience). I used to write a lot of stories that featured men more, including het ships. Now I’m like, “Why would I write something that I don’t really like?” And I don’t really like men lol. (To be fair I also do not have great men in my real life who inspire me in any capacity, I am constantly having to teach them very basic things, do their jobs for them and/or remind them that I am not just here to be used - I do know there are good men out there, T. Martel’s father being one of them a la Gomez). (I think Kate McKinnon’s team has scrubbed lot of her pre-SNL content from the internet…she used to have an interview from when she worked on LogoTV that explained this so well that I can’t find anymore.) Regardless, the entire world centers men, and my 1.4 million word story was a place where that simply would not happen. As an author I absolutely try to center women and write from a lesbian lens as often as it is appropriate and makes sense for the story. We will be seeing more Gomez and Pugs in the sequel though as the first 300k will probably be taking place prior to arriving at Nevermore for the fall semester and be far more Addams family (which includes Enid now) centric. I recently finished an extremely heartwarming father-daughter part of chapter one and it tugged on my own heartstrings, lol. I would love to play with more Gomez and Morticia pre-children visions or memories if I can find a way to meaningfully incorporate them into the story. I think that Gomez’s love for his wife is a conduit for her to tap into more powerful divination practices - she is a light seeker, and her husband is part of where she draws inspiration (even if it grosses Wednesday and I out lol). This was very briefly mentioned when Wednesday asked if she had a difficult time conceiving when she realized that it was nearly seventeen years into Gomez and Morticia's relationship before she was born. Love power is real lmfao.

Wednesday Addams arrived at school, her signature black dress and braids perfectly in place. She was greeted by her friends Enid, Yoko, Bianca, and Xavier. They were all excited to see her and asked where she had been.

"Sorry I'm late, I was doing things," Wednesday replied with a mysterious grin.

Enid, who was known for her sharp wit, quipped, "Hi, I'm 'things'.

The group erupted in laughter and cheers as they realized what Enid meant. Wednesday had finally come out as a lesbian and her friends were thrilled to support her. Yoko, who was always the most vocal, shouted "1000 points for Wenclair!" in reference to the ship name for Wednesday and Enid.

Enid was happy for her friend but also a bit reserved. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it and preferred to just enjoy the moment with her friends.

Just as the group was celebrating, Tyler, a notorious flirt, appeared out of nowhere and tried to flirt with Wednesday.

Enid immediately got annoyed and kicked him off, not wanting anyone to ruin the special moment for her and her friends.

The group continued to celebrate and support Wednesday as she embraced her true self. They knew that no matter what, they would always have each other's backs. And as for Tyler, well, he knew better than to mess with the Addams clan.

Wednesday's POV:

Wednesday was not one to show her emotions easily. However, she couldn't help but feel touched by Enid's actions. She appreciated the fact that her lover was willing to stand up for her and protect her from unwanted advances. She also felt a sense of pride knowing that her friends were so supportive of her and enid's sexuality.

As Enid kicked Tyler off, the group erupted in cheers and applause. They were all proud of Enid for standing up for Wednesday and showing Tyler that he was not welcome. Wednesday smiled and gave Enid a small nod of appreciation.

Enid was not one to seek attention or praise. She simply did what she felt was right in the moment, and was happy to see her girlfriend happy. She gave a small shrug and a smile, acknowledging the cheers but not making a big deal out of it.

The group continued to celebrate and support Wednesday and Enid. They knew that they had each other's backs and that was all that mattered. Wednesday felt grateful to have such amazing friends and was excited to see what the future held for her and Enid.

You do not need to reply/post this, but I am a fandom vet coming to tell you, that even if you are “extremely delulu” as your title says, you really should respect fandom tags for the sake of others. This is not a hate message, this is simply me wanting to point out what’s going on as someone who has spent over twenty years in fandoms. Your poly/threesome/triangle/whatever the youths are calling the type of relationship that you are tagging with ‘Wenclair’ is not the same same ship and needs its own tags. Tagging the characters, and series is fine, people looking for more than Wednesday/Enid together can find it through those tags, but your Yoko/Wednesday/Enid ship is a separate relationship and should not be tagged with the Wenclair ship. The vast majority of people who check that tag are looking for content for that ship, not a threesome that happens to include 2/3 of those characters. Another blogger made a recent post referencing this (you probably can't see as they've likely blocked you), and well over one hundred people are ick-ed out, and blocking you because of it. You’re going to end up missing out on fandom content because you won’t be able to see it due to the amount of people blocking you for inappropriately using the tag. There is probably some generational divide over “little” content being fetish or not - but it should be tagged appropriately, with the right ship, regardless of whether or not it is fetish. Using a popular tag to gain a following, particularly when you aren’t putting the potentially fetish-leaning content behind a cut, is going to have people hating on you, and already is.  I have been in and out of fandoms  for a long time - take it from an old bat in her mid 30s who has seen a lot of fandom BS in her day and a lot of drama, it is making other people uncomfortable, and you can either learn and grow from this message, or block me and have more people associating you with ‘ick.’ I don’t think it’s your intention to make people uncomfortable, and I am glad you are having fun developing something you enjoy. That’s great - that’s what fandom can be used for, when done appropriately. I still have it in my mind that Wednesday is (ace)arospec and not really sure how attraction works (because she never felt it), so when Tyler became someone, in some emotional way, "important" to her and him said she gave "signals" (which she obviously didn't), and because of everyone else acting like they were a couple, I imagine she just thought "Maybe this is how someone weird like me falls in love, maybe I should try this" when in reality she didn't really like him (And I still think she doesn't like Xavier very much, but for the same reason, she thinks she does)

And that seriously makes me believe that she has a queerplatonic attraction to Enid, and that she probably just treats it like "Well, that's how friends feel about each other"

Ahhhh, thank you so much for asking about them, Alvita!! I am also gonna tag @luucypevensie and @dancingsunflowers-ocs since they’re my other Wednesday girlies. <3

We’ll do some facts about Esther first, since she’s my properly-introduced baby:

Given that I don’t think I’ve properly explained Esther’s outcast type to anyone besides Grace, I’ll explain it now: she’s a nephilim! Her mother, the woman who acted as a surrogate for her fathers when they were having her, was herself the daughter of an angel and a human, and because of this Esther is able to tap into a few different angel powers (if not all of the ones available to a nephilim, because Esther is a quarter angel rather than half).

These powers include being able to manipulate and generate light, being able to calm other people’s mental distress simply by projecting calming energy at them, being able to release powerful blasts of light that can cause physical destruction (which is what lead to the collapsed bell tower that got her transferred from her old school to Nevermore), and being able to wield a glowing angel sword by summoning it from the astral realm which is able to destroy demonic creatures (not that Esther has met any of those yet).

Esther’s family is actually pretty rich, with both of her fathers being lawyers and partners in their respective firms (which are actually rival firms, a fact that Esther and her younger brother Maddox find hilarious). Esther doesn’t like showing off or flaunting her family’s money, but she also doesn’t let it stop her from wearing nice clothes and buying her friends expensive gifts on their birthdays or other special occasions.

The St. Claire family also has a golden retriever, which Esther’s fathers rescued as a puppy when Esther was seven and Maddox was three. Esther was allowed to name her and chose the name Reno, after the main character in the musical Anything Goes, because her obsession with classic musicals had started even at that young age. Reno is an absolute sweetheart who always misses Esther whenever she’s away at school, and the entire family absolutely adores her.

Esther has never officially come out as a lesbian to her dads and Maddox - they’ve all pretty much known since Esther was pretty young, and when Esther finally comes home on a school break holding Wednesday and Enid’s hands, everyone just kind of shrugs and welcomes the two girls into their home.

Next, let’s talk about my beloved bitchy lesbian fairy Padma:

Every fairy has an affinity for one of the five forms of elemental magic: fire, water, earth, air, and metal. Padma’s affinity is for fire, because of course it is.

Padma is a twin! Her brother Akshat has an affinity for earth, doesn’t attend Nevermore - he is instead homeschooled as the majority of fairy kids are - and is pretty much the exact opposite of Padma in every way. He’s very quiet and passive, and doesn’t have even a hint of her quick temper.

Like Esther, Padma is also a rich girl (I mean, her family has been around for centuries since fairies live a really long time plus they can literally enchant people), but she is a lot less afraid to show it off. She’s always wearing the latest fashions and has her nails and makeup freshly done, and whenever she gets a coffee from the shop in Jericho she always leaves a twenty dollar tip or something even more because she just has no idea of how much thinks cost.

A really big part of the reason Padma is so determined to compete academically with Bianca for so long is because, deep down, she’s really afraid of people seeing her as just a stupid, pretty rich girl, when she’s actually wickedly smart and cunning. She’d rather rip out her own teeth than admit this, though, or at least it takes her a long time after they even start dating for her to admit it to Bianca.

Sometimes when Eugene’s not around and she’s stressed, Padma will go to the spot where he keeps his bees and just chill with them to calm herself down. Fairies, being forest creatures by nature, have an innate connection with all plants and insects, even if they don’t have an earth magic affinity, and Eugene’s bees really like Padma and will often bump against her face to say hello to her.

Now let us talk about Gus, my beloved stoner werewolf:

Despite werewolves very rarely maintaining canine characteristics when they’re in human form, Gus very much does - he always gets incredibly excited when someone he likes returns after being gone, even if they were only gone for a few minutes, and if you scratch a certain spot behind his ear he will just melt into a happy puddle.

Gus is also insanely clingy and affectionate when he’s high, and it doesn’t even really matter who it is he’s clinging to; if you’re close by and not already hugging or cuddling someone, you can expect a lap full of Gus, burrowing his head into your shoulder and giving you a bunch of compliments in a hazy voice.

Gus has had a bi flag hung up above his bed in his Nevermore dorm since he first arrived at the school. His first roommate, a haughty psychic who came from a super rich family, made a douchey comment about it, and it didn’t even take a whole week for Gus to report the incident to Weems and get his roommate expelled (Nevermore, thankfully, has a very strict no-discrimination policy). He doesn’t really care if people insult him, but he was not about to let the guy think that kind of behavior was okay and risk him repeating it with someone else.

As kind of a surprise given his general sunny disposition, Gus actually really likes true crime podcasts. On most given nights when there’s not some kind of get-together he needs to provide weed for, you can find him sitting on the window seat in his dorm room, smoking a joint with the window open and with his phone playing a podcast beside him.

Gus’s first kiss was actually with Yoko; it was at a little party thrown for Ajax’s birthday freshman year, after Yoko’s spin landed on Gus during a game of Spin the Bottle. Speaking of Yoko, let’s finish these facts off with her new girlfriend, Holly:

I’m still not going to reveal exactly what Holly is just yet (you know, Alvita, of course, but I’d like to keep it a bit of a secret still), but I can tell you with absolute certainty that she hates it about herself. Despite attending a school full of what most people would consider “monsters,” Holly sees herself as an actual monster, and would give almost anything not to be the way she is.

What she is has also caused a lot of problems between her and her family, and as such, she’s one of only a handful of students who stay at Nevermore year-round, not going home for the holidays or summer break, which only serves to add to the layers of mystery and fear that most Nevermore students have around her.

Holly very nearly gives Xavier a heart attack the first time she speaks to him, after Wednesday defeats the Hyde and she decides to start trying to make friends - which, consequently, is the first time she’s really spoken to another person since coming to Nevermore. He nearly winds up falling off a balcony, she scares him so much, which Holly feels really bad about, but he’s also quick to reassure her about it and strike up a genuine conversation with her.

During the time when she kept to herself and didn’t speak, Holly would usually keep herself busy with embroidering various things, which she learned from her grandmother. She’s incredibly good at it, and even gifts Yoko a handkerchief embroidered with a quote from Dracula for their first anniversary.

Holly’s favorite holiday was always Halloween when she was a kid (coming from a family and a very long line of outcasts, it was kind of inevitable), but due to some very significant reasons from her past she can hardly stand it anymore. She now throws all of the energy she used to put towards Halloween into celebrating Christmas, and though of course everyone around her notices how much she avoids Halloween, they’ve learned by now not to question it.

In regards to Enid, there's mention in she show of her parents sending her to 'werewolf conversion therapy' as her character can't turn into a wolf ('wolf out'). She ends up with a boy at the end and many people call out queerbaiting for both Wednesday and Enid as they're lesbian, or at least sapphic, coded

+ a similar message from possibly another anon :

"Ooh re: Wednesday. I def saw Wednesday as gay (what was that attempt at a het subplot??) but I saw Enid as bi, but heavily women leaving? So, I watched the whole season and I'm going to agree with anon number 2. I wouldn't accuse the show of gaybaiting simply because though Enid is 100% coded as sapphic that does not mean there is heavy romantic/sexual tension between Enid and Wednesday. If baiting there is it's not the show but maybe in the promotion, which I never care to check. Don't get me wrong I sense something between these two, we get to see a friendship that is getting stronger and stronger, it might be a budding love but we need time to see it develop if that's the road the writers will take. Right now Enid is a golden-retriever type of friend to Wednesday and I love their introvert/extrovert dynamic, indeed they just work.

Enid is coded as bisexual. From her pink and blue strands of hair to the "wolfing out" metaphor. She was excited about spending time with that boy Ajax, about possibly dating him, happy when kissing him (though nervous, but that's normal), so I don't see why there's people who think she might be a lesbian. If they want to headcanon her this way, okay, but ultimately this character isn't written as such. Lesbians simply aren't excited about dating a dude and aren't either being super mad when said dude doesn't show up at their date, at the very best one would go on a straight date to force herself and if the dude didn't show up we would be relieved about it.

Wednesday is different. We don't really see her emotions so we don't know much about her feelings for Tyler, the dude was really pursuing her and had his ways to make her feel bad for rejecting him. We don't know if her heart was in that kiss, if she tried to fit in or if she was really in her element with him. Regardless, it didn't felt right as a viewer. In my head I was like "Wednesday would never" and "this is so out of character", whereas when she hugged back Enid the emotion and the authenticity was there.

nobody, especially myself, decided that jenna and emma should get together (jenna ortega is not a lesbian, neither of the girls have claimed to be a part of the LGBT community) jenna and emma are real human people with their own lives and we as fans don’t have and should not have any say about what they do with their lives or relationships

what we as a fandom do like is the ship between their fictional characters, wednesday and enid, that still does not mean that we are “demanding” it, we are simply saying that we enjoy the relationship and hope that it might turn romantic in the later seasons of the tv show. nearly every fandom has ships, including straight ones, i for example also ship gomez and morticia, pip and ravi from the agggtm series, dick and barbara from batman, and many many others.

Since you joined Rick's group, before Alexandria, you've really grown attached to the teenagers in the group. At first it was just Beth and Carl, which later became Noah, Enid and later Henry. Of course, you were their age, no family, like most, and a lot of emotional need. Over time, after the deaths of Beth, Carl and Noah, you no longer cared about the lack you felt, but what others might have.

You were almost maternal, even a few years above most young people, because your heart wanted to make those young people feel that they had something worthwhile. Maybe that's why Lydia liked you so much. You couldn't tell. Maybe it was because you defended her from Henry's stupid friends, or because you let her cry in your arms in the cell where Daryl locked her, or because you took the slap in the face from Alpha. She followed you like a master, as if she were your puppy. She would do anything to stay close, pushing away everyone who wanted to talk to her. One day you guided her on how she should be social. She simply replied: "I don't like them, they don't understand me like you do". You left this pass, after all, she were just a girl with no social skills.

Lydia started living with you in Alexandria since the houses in Hiltop weren't safe, you let her wear your clothes and you served as a shoulder for the girl to cry about her mother almost every night. It was always late, she would crawl into your bed, waking you up with a soft, tearful voice asking if she could sleep in your room. You would accept, making her lay on your lap and cry as if tomorrow didn't exist.

She clung to you, as if that meant she was saved from all her sins.

However, that changed one day. Instead of the girl crying for her mother, she cried for something she didn't even understand.

“Ly” you called her by her affectionate nickname, as she climbed into your lap.

"What happend?"

"I don't know if I can talk" she said in the most guilty and tearful voice in the world.

"Do you think it's normal to not like boys?" The question scared you a little. You thought she liked Henry, but apparently she doesn't even like boys?!

It's okay with that" Lydia doesn't respond at first, she just clings tighter to his embrace like a child. Deep down, she was like a child, inexperienced, experiencing all her feelings and desires at the same time.

"But they told me it was wrong" she almost whispers, while her head is buried in your neck.

"Who?"

"Mr. Larry" the famous teacher from Alexandria.

"What did he say to you?"

"I can not say"

"Of course you can. Why couldn't you? Did he tell you not to tell me?" If that were the case, you would smash his face in.

"No. You'll find out"

"Find out? Find out what?" She lifts her face from your neck, tears coming from her eyes. She's almost breaking down from having to tell you this. She doesn't want you to say the same thing as Mr.Larry.

"Mr. Larry said we were supposed to read a book about something but I didn't like either of them. So I found a romance book between...between...two girls and when I went to tell him, he told me I couldn't read this and that it would make me...a lesbian" You didn’t know what to feel. Anger? Sadness? Discomfort? After all, Mr. Larry had known you since you were a child and he knew you were sapphic. Did people really still think that way?

"Oh Ly, don't mind him. He's an old, frustrated man who has irrational prejudices."

"That's not the problem. It's just....I think he's right" she says, this time actually crying in his arms.

"He's not"

"But I became a lesbian" she says almost exasperated, hiding her face in her hands.

"Angel, you haven't become anything. If you like girls, that's who you are. You just discovered yourself. No matter how many straight or lesbian books you read, it doesn't change your sexuality. You just...discovered" you he says, caressing his tear-stained face.

“I like girls,” she says in a barely audible whisper, more to herself than to you.

"If it makes you feel better, I like them too" Lydia's face lit up, as if she had just received the best Christmas present of her life.

"Serious?"

"Yes, really"

"It means you can date a woman"

"Yes, angel, that means that" She stops crying for a few seconds, looking deep into your eyes as if she wants to say something.

"I think I can date a woman too"

"Yes you can"

"That means I can date you, doesn't it?" She asks a little anxiously. You freeze slightly wondering if that was really what was going to happen. You loved that girl, it wasn't a secret to anyone, you just didn't imagine that she could love you too.

"Yes, if you liked me"

"I like you" That's enough to shut you up. You take a moment to think: "Am I going too far?", "Am I taking advantage of her?", "Did she say that with that intention?" This made you silent, just looking at Lydia. Lydia starts to panic, thinking she messed up, she alludes to get off your lap as she apologizes several times, however, you pull her waist against you and hold her face with both hands.

"I like you too Lydia"

With that, you wipe the few tears on the girl's face, while holding her waist and face as if her kiss was the only thing that mattered.

And it really was.
