Note
Do you agree that Chloe only cared about Adrien cause of his social status ? Cause that's what Astruc has said on Twitter regarding how Chloe viewed her friendship with Adrien. Do you believe this intent of their relationship was portrayed correctly in the show ?
I think that this statement accurately describes the way that Chloe was written in season one. She never read as Adrien's close friend and we got scenes like these two from Dark Cupid where she wanted his autograph to show off for some reason:
Chloé: Hi Adrien, sign here please. Adrien: (sighs) Oh, come on, you know I hate signing autographs, Chloé. Chloé: Oh, that's not what this is. This is a petition against cruelty to hamsters. Have you seen some of the ugly sweaters they are forced to wear? It's appalling. (Adrien begrudgingly signs the poster. Chloé hugs the poster and Sabrina smiles before they notice Marinette who is digging through a trash can as she pulls out a sheet of paper.)
[Scene change]
Chloé: Keep dreaming all you want girls but the boy is mine. (Sabrina nods before unrolling the poster, the girls gasping) Aurore: "To Chloé, the most awesome girl in the world and the love of my life. Signed, Adrien." (All the girls begin to cry, then Chloé looks at one girl who tries not to burst out crying) Chloé: Uh, she's not crying enough.
However, much like Alya's obsession with Ladybug's secret identity and Adrien's ability to leave his house, this part of Chloe's character disappeared after season one, making it feel like something they tried and then decided to discard. While that's not a sign of great writing quality, it's also not a neon warning sign. It's not unusual for formula shows to have these kinds of growing pains. First seasons often have random things that contradict later seasons such as everything about Nathalie's season one writing.
So while season one backs this read, I don't think it's fair to say that Chloe read this way any time after season one and season one is full of things that got discarded, so it's not grasping at straws to say that season one Chloe wasn't fully formed. This is especially true because of the way the writers reintroduced her in both Origins and season two.
Origins introduced many new elements such as Adrien's social isolation and the wish that was driving Gabriel to terrorize Paris. In other words, it's the episode that lays the groundwork for the entire show. If a thing is in Origins, then it matters because the writers only had 40 minutes to establish every important element for how they want these character to be read. This is a problem because Origins didn't make Chloe a vapid mean girl who clung to new boy Adrien. Instead, Origins had Adrien walk into school, see Chloe, and call her by name, leading her to reply with a dorky childhood nickname:
Adrien: Hey, Chloé! Chloé: Adrikins! You came!
She's also the only person who knows that Adrien will be starting school this year because, for some reason, Origins made the choice to elevate Adrien and Chloe's relationship to close childhood friends. That is NOT the kind of move you make if you want Chloe to feel like someone who only cares about Adrien for his fame. While that may potentially happen in real life, this is a story. The writers have full control over the characters' backstories. Who in their right mind picks a childhood friends backstory to complicate things if they don't want Chloe to really care about Adrien as a person?
Despair Bear only further contradicts this "Chloe doesn't care" idea by having Chloe break down over the idea of Adrien ending their friendship:
Jean: Mademoiselle does not look very happy, today. (lifts up a plate of luxury chocolates and offers them to Chloé.) (Chloé grabs the chocolates all at once and eats them, concurrently, and then weeps) Chloé: Adrien says I have to be nice to everyone or he won't be my friend anymore! How can he do this to me, Jean-Michel? Jean: Uh, my name is... hm, never mind. Ah, perhaps Mademoiselle can see comfort with Mr. Cuddly? (Chloé is delighted and grabs Mr. Cuddly, her teddy bear, and hugs it)
[Image description: Chloe crying and eating chocolates because Adrien said they can't be friends anymore]
This is not the kind of reaction you give a character who doesn't care about Adrien on a personal level. She comes across as caring about him deeply. If she didn't care, then she'd probably just brush him off and say, "Your loss." But she doesn't. She reacts with the same sort of sorrow that we see when her parents are akumatized or when her mother refuses to acknowledge her.
We also see her go out of her way to try to appease Adrien by throwing a party and forcing herself to play nice so that he stays her friend. She only stops playing nice when he promises that they'll stay friends:
Adrien: That was a great idea of inviting Marinette's dad! Chloé: I know. This way, no one can be mad at me for calling the fire department. I'm really nice now, did you notice, Adrikins? Even Ladybug said so! Didn't she, Jean-Pascal? Adrien: I'm proud of you, Chloé. I think you've proven that you're capable of making an effort to be nicer to everyone. Chloé: Aww, Adrikins! So we'll always be best friends, forever? Pinky swear? Adrien: Pinky swear! Chloé: (Exhales and saunters off) (To Kim) So, those macarons are dreadfully ugly. (Kim sighs.) (To Mylène.) Those are so greasy, you can see yourself in them. (Mylène cries and faint.) (To Marinette.) Urgh. Too disgusting for comment. (To Rose.) Those look horrible. (Rose faints.)
That is more effort than Chloe has ever put into anything on screen and that's a problem because - once again - this is not how you write a vapid mean girl who doesn't care. This is how you write someone who actually cares about Adrien. They even chose to show us young Chloe and young Adrien being cute during Chloe's "flashback" to getting her teddy bear:
[Image description: Teen Chloe surrounded by drawings of important childhood memories with her teddy bear. We see her getting the bear from a faceless figure, holding the bear as her mother walks away, sleeping with the bear, holding the bear while she cries, and excitedly showing the bear to a young Adrien]
There's also the issue that, after season one, Chloe doesn't seem to actually care that much about social clout. At that start of this post, I used a scene from Dark Cupid specifically because it feels kind of out of character for her. In the later seasons, Chloe may flaunt her social status and think that it makes her better than others, but she doesn't do things like the poster thing because that requires her to care what random people think and that's just not how she reads. Chloe reads more like someone who doesn't care what most people think because she thinks that she's better than them (or, at least, she wants to think that. Chloe has the potential to be a fun little ball of self-hatred and doubt, but either way, she is acting like she doesn't care what other people think outside of a very select group.)
I think this really shows when we compare Chloe to Lila. Lila reads like someone who cares about social clout. Someone who is desperate to be seen in a certain way. Someone who sees dating Adrien as a status symbol and nothing more. Chloe reads like someone who sees Adrien as the only person of her caliber, so of course they'd get together. That's a subtle, but very important difference. It's the difference between someone who doesn't have social clout and needs Adrien to get it and someone who already has social clout and therefore doesn't need a popular boyfriend to prop her up. She just thinks dating an unpopular boy is beneath her.
I've mentioned before that Chloe reads SUPER aroace to me and this is actually why. To me, it comes across like she does actually care deeply about Adrien, but she has no true romantic or sexual feelings for him or even any clue what those feelings actually feel like. Given the way her parents' relationship is written, I also don't see Chloe having a healthy idea of what a romantic relationship looks like. I think she sees it as a way to show off how much better you are then the nobodies of the world because love is for fairytales. Marriage is about alliances of wealth and power and Adrien is both wealthy and her childhood friend, so of course they'd get married! They already know that they can at least tolerate each other. Why look for a different match?
In summary: the writers may have wanted Chloe to be a vapid mean girl who didn't care about Adrien as a person, but they completely failed to write her that way after season one, so she comes across as genuinely caring, but unable to express those feelings in a healthy way because of her own issues and poor childhood.

It's time for a small late night rant.
My show CRASH tends to take a long time to make. I can sometimes feel really discouraged by that fact. As we approach one year, I often wish I could have had more out by now. But these things take time. If you take it one step at a time, you'll make it much farther than it feels like you're going. Walking a mile seems hard, but all it is is a bunch of small steps. If you struggle with motivation, like I do, focus on that - the steps are right in front of you. Break it down into smaller tasks that are more manageable.
Just recently, I had a realization.
CRASH Episodes 1 - 5 are 2 hour and 40 minutes long in total.
To me, that didn't seem like much until I realized that one of the shows that inspired me, Red vs. Blue...
...has a run time of 2 hours and 55 minutes for its entire first two seasons.
Now, just to be clear, I'm not saying Crash is longer than rvb seasons. Therefore, it must be good/better than rvb. I think I'll never love any show as much as I love RvB. My point is I never would have realized that I had done so much already if I didn't stop and look back. It's so easy to lose perspective if you dont stop and remind yourself. And I never would have gotten this far if I didn't look down and take it one day, one step, one problem at a time. Those steps add up... often times faster than you think.
Okay, that's enough self-indulgent rambles for one night.
I wanna say thank you to everyone who's watched until now. Episode 6 is still on the way with much more to come. Making this show is a dream come true, and I'm so blessed to be able to tell this story to all of you.

“Cease and desist, bitch!”
News flash friends: job hunting is still terrible. Like, four months in and it’s still the worst. I finished two interview loops recently and I’m waiting to hear back and I have two others I’m trying to get through and it’s all hurry up and wait.
But then Netflix told me that GIRLS5EVA was coming to the platform, complete with a new season, and I got soooo excited.
I’m sure no one has heard of this show, it was born on Peacock and it’s a Tina Fey joint but there’s definitely a super specific audience for it which is, basically, me.
Were you born in the 80’s/early 90’s? Did you love all the random girl groups/boybands? Are you now barreling toward 40 and it’s just really depressing and terrible? Then Girls5eva is also for you.
Wherein, four millennial women decide to reunite their early 2000’s girl group after their one-hit wonder is sampled on a new hip hop track.
It’s hilarious. And really specific. And starring SARA BAREILLES who in real life is an incredible musician. Y’all remember “Gravity”? No? Even though it was featured in a Community episode where Annie cuts to a montage because she’s trying to convince everyone that she and Jeff have had a ‘will-they-won’t-they’ thing going on all year? “Gravity” is the theme of that montage!
While you’re checking out Girls5eva, also listen to Sara Bareilles. The girl is a true fucking talent.
ALSO, Busy Philipps. I LOVE Busy Philipps. And have loved her since Dawson’s freakin’ Creek and then AGAIN in Cougartown.
(Side rant - Cougartown really is a wonderful show. Terrible name, but honestly incredibly funny and there are a ton of good running jokes and it’s just fun as hell. Courteney Cox got shagged on that one, it really is a gem.)
Anyway. There are 3 seasons and it follows the ladies valiantly trying to make a comeback while dealing with being normal people again after their brief shot at fame in the early 2000’s. Which, I think we all remember fondly but was actually a pretty gross time and the show makes sure you remember that - it was not great for women by any means and it’s still not great now but Girls5eva make it work. And it’s endearing.
And y’all, some of the songs are a fuckin’ bop. BPE? Aka “Big Pussy Energy” (the club remix) is the anthem we all need right now. “Kick down the doors no locks / I don't need a key / Eyes down here, yeah, I'm the centerpiece / Animal queendom feline synergy / Kickin’ down the doors, big pussy energy!” That shit gets you in the right frame of mind. I need more semi-cheesy female anthems in my life and I’m pretty sure you do too.
Honestly, the show is really just about the fact that life doesn’t have to end after your 20’s, you can keep going after your dreams even if they’re ridiculous. And you can balance your regular shit while you do it. And you don’t need a man to define who you are. And you can leave toxic relationships if you need to. And you can grow as a person. And you can still be a crazy bitch sometimes and your friends will support you.
There’s a lot going on, and it’s all wonderful. Honestly, we need more shows about olderish female friends, with a touch of insanity. I don’t want regular female friends, I want batshit female friends doing ridiculous things.
Also, lastly, Wickie Roy is a fucking icon. In a weird way because she’s struggling to live in a normal world and she refuses to compromise and she’s an absolute nutbag but in the best way possible.
Basically, Girls5eva is making me feel better about my life. If they can get back into pop music, I can get myself another boring job and BPE is gonna help me get it done.
“Momentum yeah / um it’s our moment / we’re contenders…”

The Chay Rewatch Ep 5
As part of my KP Rewatch, I’m going to be commenting on each episode and analyzing the different Chay scenes. He’s my favorite character, and I thought I’d put down my thoughts (as well as timestamps for his scenes) as a fun way to express that.
Ep 1 & 2, Ep 3, Ep 4
Ep 5 - The Music Lesson
Time 4:58-7:56 - The Bread Sticks
Yes this isn’t a Chay scene, but at this point I’m analyzing Kim and Chay scenes.
Kim’s Outfit: A classic Kim look with the leather jacket – black this time at least- and the white pants. Someone please take those white pants away from him.
Not Kim taking two seconds to confirm he’s alone in the office before practically jumping to searching for clues. He'd love escape rooms so much.
IDK if this ever gets confirmed, but those handprints belong to baby Porsche and baby Porchay right? The red paint is so ominous.
Korn, I think, definitely likes Kim the most out of his three sons. He doesn't trust him, but he sees how Kim attempts to play the game his own way. Kim, unlike Kinn and Khun, is suspicious of everything, an amazing fighter, and establishing himself on his own. Kim makes an amazing chess piece. If Korn could control him, he’d be set.
Kim, your interrogation is not subtle at all, and Korn knows it. But, he allows it because Kim expressing interest in the family makes it easier for him to draw his youngest back into the fold. But, that doesn’t mean he trusts his son.
“I’m more interested in what you’re thinking.” – cue the dramatic music. This honestly makes me question why Kim is investigating his father. The show never really gives us a motive for that, nothing to clearly explain what starts this obsession. Kim is obviously paranoid and suspicious of everything, but he got out of the family compound, and he’s living on his own. Usually that would mean you want nothing to do with the family, but Kim actively searches out what his father has done.
Time: 11:54 – 13:53 – Talking & not talking at the carp pond
The quick look at Kim that Khun does just before he walks on screen after quietly waiting for him is so meaningful. Khun is never quiet. But, he knows that Kim never comes home and treats him like a wild animal letting his youngest brother come to him. Once he’s acknowledged that’s when Khun gets loud.
Kim, your ass ain’t subtle. His casual walk by the carp pond that isn’t near the front entrance or garage. You wanted to check in on your brother just as much as your brother wants to check in on you. The lack of communication in this household
How in the hell did Kim get Chay’s phone number? And why is Chay just answering random numbers late at night?
Chay probably thought his wildest dream had come true :(
Time: 30:40 – 38:28 - Chay didn’t even get to eat the snacks
Porchay is so cute with his guitar next to his idol
Chay’s outfit: so begins the plaid shirt era. The blue looks good on him and it matches the subtle blue flowers on Kim’s jacket. He looks so soft.
Kim’s outfit: the blood-red velvet bomber jacket is such a good look on him! This is a Wik outfit through and through. Kim knows Chay is obsessed with Wik, so Wik is what Kim is going to give him. Why did this style only appear in one episode! Why is almost every other jacket a leather jacket! I need to know what his shirt says desperately. I need to analyze it.
Chay wandering around the studio very carefully not touching anything while being excluded from the conversation, little brother core
Kim preparing snacks, sorry sir but do you want Chay to fall in love with you right now? Giving someone food is an act of love (to me at least), and as a hungry teenager definitely to Porchay as well.
Not Chay immediately clocking that Wik taking him to a secluded, personal recording studio is a bit above and beyond
THE LITTLE HEAD TILT CHAY DOES WHEN KIM SAYS HIS NAME IS KIM
Sorry I’m calm now.
I LIED! THE WAY HE TILTS HIS HEAD TO READ WIK/KIM AND THEN KIM MIRRORS HIM!
“Any side would do. I like them all.” – You can actually see this hit Kim in real time.
Chay responding that it seems fun when questioned why he wants to study music. Yes, baby boy enjoy what you want to do in life. No joke Kim is not used to this level of blatant honesty. Chay has nothing to hide and why should he? He likes music and it's fun. That’s it.
“Let’s do it on your brother.” – Kim you are not slick. This is embarrassing!
CHAY’S HEAD TILT WHEN HE’S QUESTIONING HOW KIM KNOWS ABOUT PORSCHE! I AM UNWELL
Anyways, no Chay please don’t accept that awful explanation. I know Kim didn’t call you out for the all sides comment, but please! Stranger Danger! You can see Chay’s brain working through the excuses of Okay he let me be weird I have to let him be weird now because maybe he did see it, maybe this isn’t so weird. Kim, you are so lucky Chay likes you enough to be colorblind.
“I still feel like I can’t be like him.” – that’s a little heartbreaking considering Chay desperately wants to take some of the burden off of Porsche. Porsche who to Chay is the rock his whole life is built on.
I’m sorry Chay just giving Kim his phone. Are you not scared he’ll see your Wik stan account or your AO3 Chay?
The photos they chose for Chay’s catalogue are so cute. Why did I just now only notice that Porsche’s red shirt has a ton of cats on it? How much do you wanna bet that was a gift from Chay?
The texts to Porsche break my heart. Chay obviously knows his brother won’t respond, but he still needs the catharsis of talking to him because that was their dynamic before. They were always open and always there for each other
Chay has so much self-confidence and power. He wrote something in minutes and sees that his idol is trying to ditch him, but he still goes hold on mister please listen to what I wrote. That’s what being raised by bad bitch, don’t think about consequences, love is not a weakness Porsche Kittisawat is like.
You can see Kim realize that this kid is good and start screaming in his head before he joins in. Kim loves music, and even though every bit of him is screaming get this kid out he’s not useful, he can’t help but break open just a little bit
Their duet with their song! Kim you are never getting over Chay
Time: 39:52 – 40:34 – Bro shenanigans
Chay practicing so hard on his guitar! He really does love music and genuinely finds it fun!
The way he freezes when he see Porsche and then just runs to him! He missed his brother so much. He’s definitely been so lonely without Porsche, but he doesn’t show it to his brother.
The brother bonding montage. You can tell these two characters only ever had each other.
Chay’s Outfit: Chay is wearing a Tanjiro from Demon Slayer shirt (I would recognize that haori print anywhere), which holy shit costuming y’all are so wild for this one. Tanjiro sacrificing everything after his family died and Nezuko his sole surviving sibling becoming a demon. The green shorts paired with it are cute.
The focus on Chay monologuing and Porsche listening intently.
Chay going off on a school trip after being forced to by Porsche is so telling. Porsche doesn’t see his worth in other people’s lives. Chay desperately misses his brother, but allows Porsche to persuade him because it makes Porsche happy to see Chay live a good life, one that Porsche never got a chance to have.
Overall Chay Rating (Chrating): I’m going to give this episode an A.
I love the different sides we get to see of Chay here with both Kim and Porsche. He’s such a bright person. He’s not as naïve as some people think. He definitely saw Kim’s weird thing about Porsche, but he doesn’t see the worst in people and moves past it. He’s so happy seeing Porsche even though Porsche essentially abandoning him had to hurt. He chooses to be happy that his brother is home.

Woo, finished streaming Life is Strange 1 for a friend ahead of schedule, giving us some breathing room for True Colors before Double Exposure comes out, and boy that an interesting experience. In a good way, of course.
When the game originally released back in 2015, I was a moody 22-year-old being rapidly aged by working in retail. My choices were made with little to no hesitation and even less deliberation. My mind was made up, my perspective unchanged by any new or altered context given with the release of each episode. The decisions I made were the only ones I could've made.
Similarly, when I played with my mom a few years later, there was little to no hesitation. She was in her late 40s, her sense of self solidly in place; her beliefs could not be shaken by a game foe young adults. Her performance was different enough for me to be surprised, but her unwavering faith in her choices made it clear where I had gotten my own stubbornness from. While interesting from a personal perspective, it was, ultimately, not noteworthy.
Then we reach my buddy, a guy from the opposite side of the planet. He ended up making more or less the same choices I did, yes, but the how is what made it so intriguing -- where I chose on pure instinct, he refused to make even the smallest decision without weighing the pros and cons first. Hell, he spent a solid ten minutes on the euthanasia bit in episode 4, if not longer, due to the gutwrenching reality of assisted dying and the ethical dilemma of asking a friend or relative to execute such wishes -- and then he fucking begged me to rewind it! Because it was an awful situation to be put in! Where my mom and I had chosen swiftly and carried on, he grappled with the morality of time travel and the horrible consequences it has on everyone involved! It was like this for nearly every important choice, an incredible experience of putting more thought into the story than Dontnod ever dreamed of.
Which is why the ending was so funny. After everything, when the time came, bae vs bay, this guy knew off the bat what he was going to choose. He still deliberated, as we discussed the nature of Max's powers and the effect it had on reality, but his choice was already made. The game had established quite thoroughly that the timelines persisted regardless of Max -- that our decision was not of altering time, but of which timeline Max would exist in (though Dontnod obviously didn't take this into account; those dumb motherfuckers thought they were writing an oh-so-clever trolley problem). With that in mind, his opinion was that the only correct choice was bae. To choose bay would be to run away from reality; to kill Chloe was to pretend to be making a personal sacrifice while consciously abandoning everything and everyone Max had hurt to get to that point. To pretend that this was a trolley problem would be cowardice, and after all of this, why would Max be a coward?
All in all, very nice to see a fresh perspective on LiS1, really looking forward to seeing how/if Double Exposure will cause further fragmentation between player experiences and if Deck Nine will understand how fucked it is to make us do multi-timeline drifting. I will be mad if they refuse to address the ethics of timeline hopping, but True Colors made a big deal about how it's bad to decide what's right for other people, so I think we can trust them on that front.
#life is strange#life is strange before the storm#life is strange double exposure#max caulfield#chloe price#life is strange spoilers#video games sure are fun huh

I Watched Every GMMTV BL Series part 3/?
2016/2017 2018
2020
2019 feels like a turning point. Like, this was the year they decided to try making good series. I know I didn't have great things to say about the older series, but I generally go into a series wanting to like it and I tend to be pretty forgiving.
FYI, I know some of these names have multiple spellings. I'm just using whatever spelling was used in the subtitles on YouTube.
He’s Coming to Me - 2019
After dying on his twenty-second birthday, Med (Singto Prachaya) remains as a ghost in the cemetery. He relives his death every night in his dreams, but can’t recall any of his life. After many years with no human visitors, Med is visited by a boy named Thun who can seemingly see and hear him. Years later, Thun returns as a university student (Ohm Pawat), and proposes that Med live with him so they can solve the mystery of Med’s untimely death.
This drama was so close to being perfect. Ohm gave a great performance. Singto was so much better in this than in SOTUS. It had a healthy balance of drama and comedy, without the drama ever feeling forced. I just felt a little let down by the ending. Spoilers ahead.
So, I was fully prepared for a sad ending. And as much as I love a happy ending, this was a rare case where I felt like a sad ending would have been better. Giving this impossible romance a miracle happy ending felt like a copout. It felt like fanservice. Like they set out to tell a new and interesting story, but didn’t have the guts to disappoint anyone with a sad ending. And then I'm the one left to grapple with the logistics of dating a ghost. But my biggest problem with the ending was that they fucking solved the mystery behind Med’s death and then just forgave his murderer who has been living free of consequences for twenty years and absolutely no one has a problem with it.
Not even trying not to look like a lunatic.
Theory of Love - 2019
Third (Gun Atthaphan) and Khai (Off Jumpol) are third year film majors in university and best friends. Third has harbored secret feelings for Khai for three years, but Khai is a serial dater and (supposedly) straight. Khai constantly takes advantage of Third’s loyalty, unaware of his true feelings. After repeatedly having his feelings hurt by Khai, Third decides to get over him once and for all. But when Third tries to take a step back, suddenly Khai is ready to take a step forward.
I think…I liked this series? I mean, like, I was ready to throw hands every 40 seconds, but that means I was invested, right? I liked Third, but he’s such a pushover I wanted to strangle him. Gun is an excellent actor, but just because he can cry on command doesn’t mean I want to see him do it for twelve episodes straight. Khai is an asshole, not just as a love interest, but as a friend. I don’t think I’ve ever actively rooted against a male lead so hard. The side pairings are kind of forgettable.
Anyways, Third mentions the movie Flipped several times, and despite having seen the movie and loving the book as a kid, it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that this series is just doing Flipped. I have to say, I’m a sucker for the unrequited love switcheroo premise. Which is probably why I like Theory of Love maybe more than it deserves. But I'm not as bad as Third, whose favorite movie is Flipped.
Me trying to get through all these shows.
Dark Blue Kiss - 2019
A sequel to Kiss Me Again (2018), following Pete (Tay Tawan) and Kao (New Thitipoom). After three years together, their relationship is still a secret from almost everyone, including Kao’s mother. This causes insecurity in Pete, especially after Kao starts to tutor his mom’s boss’s son, Non (AJ Chayapol). Torn between helping his mom and placating his boyfriend, Kao decides to continue tutoring Non in secret.
It’s hard to explain, but the way this drama tiptoed over that line into overdramatic hit an angsty sweet-spot for me in a way these dramas rarely do. I’m gonna mark this one down as a guilty pleasure, because despite Pete being an absolute red flag, I loved this series. It was hard to watch Kao dig himself into a hole, but it’s easy to see why he did, because Pete is completely unreasonable from the start. And why, because he felt threatened by some baby-faced high school kid? AJ looks like a toddler in this series. A seven foot toddler who I want to punch in the mouth, but a toddler nonetheless.
Minor spoiler here, Non’s ending felt unresolved. As much as I hated that little punk, seeing him being dragged off by his abusive, homophobic dad was not in any way satisfying.
I am happy to report that you do not need to watch Kiss Me Again to follow this series. It was good to see the whole group of college friends return, since they were one of the few parts of that series I enjoyed. The side pair is also two returning characters from Kiss Me Again. If you tend to like side pairs, you’ll probably like them, but I’m generally indifferent to side pairs, so they were fine.
*dramatic violin*
Soulmate - The One. Like he was created for me, specifically. Sugar Daddy - He may not have it all, but he knows how to spoil me. Friend With Benefits - Despite my better judgment, I went and caught feelings. Second Lead - All my friends love him, but I don’t feel the spark. Overeager Pursuer - Tries to be cute but just gets on my nerves. Vindictive Ex - It’s like he’s punishing me for knowing I could do better. Love Rival - Literally what did I do to deserve this? -

Twenty-five things I noted about CR2E140 “Long May He Reign” :
oh buckle up kids it's going to be a long bumpy ride, but this episode deserves it
Marisha is wearing an ExU t-shirt and that makes me so happy
Yeah, ain't that the mood :
I love the transformation of Lucien the Neo-Somnovem abilities, instead of guilt, now Yasha is mind-transported into her worst nightmare : Zuala shouting "why did you leave me ??"
"Minus eyes" "Minus eyes", I love that it's becoming the phrase to shout.
CALEB IMAGINED THE GLAIVE THAT KILLED LUCIEN AND IT CAME TO LIFE. Ooooooh boy Liam is such a good player, he understood the possibility of what Matt was saying about the aether potential !
Veth screming with joy and lust when Fjord cast Marine Layer, what an episode, guys (he did warn her to "keep [her] clothes on")
Jester, using the power of imagination : "The giant pillar in front of [Lucien] turning into a giant dick covered in eggs, scrambled eggs. And I'm going to use it as a giant bludgeoning device to fall forward and smack him in the face !" Bonus Travis reaction : "That's my child's mother." Bonus Liam reaction : "I mean, in character to the end." Bonus Taliesin reaction : "This is how my parents said I'd die."
OOOOoooh interesting, the attacks on each of the eyes are useful to get rid of the eyes and : a) get rid of nasty effects (that 40+ points of necrotic damage every time Fastidan strikes is no joke !!) b) hurt Lucien in the process
you can also heal with the power of the mind !
Laura tried and tried, but alas, the dice gods were not with her. That's too bad, I would have wanted to see a Divine Intervention of the Traveler SO BAD
Travis utterly failing to sound persuasive towards Lucien with his story of the fruit basket in Zadash makes me laugh so much. Matt : "I'm on the cusp of giving you disadvantage for that one." Travis : "I'm on the cusp of agreeing !"
Ashley blowing her nose in the Socks Machina because she's crying after Jester got killed and she doesn't have any tissues around is the saddest thing I've seen on 3 campaigns of Critical Role (yet).
They were all so stressed !!! I'm appreciating Travis saying "Calm down, let's slow a few seconds" and prompting Sam to fill up the silence even more. CEO BRAIN !!
After Caduceus tried to Revivify Jester, but Matt left it in suspense, before revealing it worked... the instant relief and simultaneous freak-out of the cast, tag yourself, I'm Liam :
TWO NATURAL TWENTYS MARISHA RAY IS A GODDESS
"can we animate that ?" Travis got hit by the Appollo ball, and also no ! because he's got to know by now that everything the cast ever says will come true, right ?
Caleb got the same treatment Jester did by Lucien : unconscious, and then with one attack left he finished him on the spot.
Jester, basically : "I'm a cleric, but..." and she didn't wait for an answer before getting the HDYWTDT on Lucien !
You know it's a good D&D game when there's only silence, hysterics bouts of laughter, and then more silence, mouths open because everything that just happened was incredible.
my thoughts from this point on were... not very coherent : "Oh my god, they're doing it. They're trying to resurrect Molly (When I began this campaign, I knew that Taliesin's first character died and somehow… came back ?? The details were not was I was searching for, since I hate getting spoiled on a good story.) oH MY GOD A NATURAL ONE NOOOOOOOW ???? WHAT IS HAPPENING ? IS IT ALL A DREAM ?? ARE THEY ALL DEAD SINCE THE BEGINNING ??"
"It's just not fair" broke me
Beau : "We may be heroes that no one knows about. But we know."
the end... like, what the fuck. CADUCEUS ROLLED ANOTHER DIVINE INTERVENTION and THEY HAVE DONE IT THEY BROUGHT HIM BACK my heart was beating a hundred times a minute
"Someone call Burch, she's off the hook" I'M SCREAMING
And the Mighty were Nein
#my thoughts#critical role#cr campaign 2#CR2E140#it's... my longest post on Campaign 2 but ! this episode deserved it

Ooh yay! Thanks for the ask! I think I copied these all over correctly. I was bored so I went in-depth 😂 Here we go:
1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?
I've been sitting here for like 5 minutes trying to figure out which I prefer 😂. I find myself coming up with multi-chapter ideas more often I think, really grand plots that I definitely don't have time to devote attention to. I also run into the problem of not knowing how to fill in between the parts that I do I have ideas for, so true multi-chapter fics are a rarity. I've had a few times where a one-shot turned into a multi chap, and THOSE tend to work better and are way more cohesive. One of my favorites is one I wrote for Star Wars (wrong blog, oops 😅) but both chapters were a lot stronger than my usual stuff, and it performed way better on AO3 which was really gratifying.
I've always wanted to write a true masterpiece where readers are anxiously awaiting the next chapter, like so many I've read, but I don't know if I've ever gotten there yet. Maybe a few when I used to write NCIS stuff on fanfiction.net.
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
Songs, a lot of times. They hit me in the feels. Sometimes a line in a fic I'm reading will spark an idea, something I haven't thought about, a new interpretation of an existing scene from the source material. Gifsets, Tumblr meta analysis, movies I'm watching. So many places. I feel like half of them come to me when I'm at work, which is very inconvenient. The aforementioned Star Wars two-shot was half written on the bus ride home from work in the notes app on my phone. I've written several in the aftermath of particularly good or bad episodes/movies. Fix-it fanfic is always great, I feel like I need to write more of it.
13. What’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?
I haven't done this for very long, but lately in my adulthood (as opposed to my teenage fics *shudders*) I've actually been pretty good about writing out an outline and going back to edit later. I used to just spew everything in a word doc and barely go through it before posting, but now I reread it to death, mostly to make sure it flows well. My outlines are, shall we say, extensive. The Star Wars fic I'm working on now had 20 chapters outlined and it totaled over 20,000 words. I've basically storyboarded the whole thing and then I go through and convert that to actual scenes. Important dialogue moments I want to hit are included, cause I know I'll forget them if I don't write them as they come to me. It helps me to be able to see the big picture, so that I don't give up on the project halfway through. But for spur of the moment fics or most one-shots, I still mostly write as I go. Occasionally if I have a thought that I want to make sure to include in a later scene, I'll just tack it on at the bottom of the doc and delete it once I get to that point and I put it in writing.
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them.
They're scattered all over the place so that's a good question that God probably only knows the answer to. Some are barely even ideas but take up a line or two in my notes app on my phone. Some probably live only in my brain, forgotten until something triggers me to remember that I was thinking of writing it 😅.
I'd love to do something with @irish-trish 's prompt to fill in the scene from NCIS "She mentioned you at the funeral, I could see what she felt." It sounds right up my alley, but there's a Star Wars fic week coming up in September that I want to actually do on time this year, so I can't allow myself to shift focus to NCIS quite yet 😭
Other than that, I want to write a second chapter to my X-Files fic "Field of Dreams" where Mulder gets to play catch with his son. I really loved writing that fic.
22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
Nothing spicy. I don't think I'd ever write in first person unless it was in the form of a letter. Other than that, I think I'd do pretty much whatever. It's just a matter of what I have the skills for I think 😂
Not a fan of AUs, except canon divergence, obviously. To me, the way the characters meet is so integral to who they are that it can't be changed much or it just doesn't feel like them. I've read maybe one fic that changed how characters met (Mulder and Scully) but that was the result of time travel and all sorts of things that warmed me up to the idea, plus the characters as we know them were still there. Alternate universe in the truest sense. I got distracted, what were we talking about?
25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?
The two fics I think of as my comfort fics, ones I found really peaceful and natural to write, would have been nice to see get more attention. I've been writing on and off for like a decade now (😳) and I've only ever really had one fic truly pop off in terms of kudos and comments. Which are literally my life blood 😂. But a lot of my older stuff I look back on and I'm like, yeah, that wasn't that great.
My Star Wars (Obi-Wan and Satine) one shot "this could be such a dream" I found really emotional and relaxing to write. I was kind of surprised it didn't go very far, but it was part of a weekly challenge thing so I suppose it makes sense in a way.
To get back to the TV shows I write for, though (since that's the focus or THIS blog), I really really loved my X-Files fic "Field of Dreams", in large part because I love that movie which inspired it, and I love a domestic, peaceful and content-if-not-happy happily ever after for Mulder and Scully. The movie itself makes me cry and feel so many feels, and I thought the connection to Fox Mulder was a really good one.
40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
I would welcome anythinggggg, that is my dream!! I haven't really written anything I'm super proud of yet in the NCIS fandom that I feel would warrant art, but maybe someday! I'm working on a Star Wars "Sound of Music" type looooong fic rn and boy, the amount of work I've put in, I would die if someone were engaged enough to be inspired by it.
54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Honestly, I get so excited to post it. I hope people will enjoy what I've written. I've read so much great fanfic, that I just want to contribute my 2 cents to the fandoms. Getting comments (as rare as it often is) literally makes my day and makes it all worthwhile to me. Any form of engagement, interaction here on Tumblr, that's what I strive for. But I also write for me. Exploring ideas I've never seen done before, filling in gaps in the fandom, I love it. Those comfort fics I was talking about, I love to just go back and read. It doesn't really matter, in the end, if they touched other people like they do me. I like them and that's what matters. The fics I'm not so proud of? I've been transferring them over from Tumblr and fanfiction.net anyway because some of them have received really lovely comments and people might enjoy them despite how I feel.
56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
I hope I'm improving on descriptive language. I want to bring out emotions in my writing, and I think there's been definite improvement since I started. I'm also thankful that I have a grasp on grammar and spelling and all the typical writing conventions. That can be a turn off to a lot of readers if it's a complete mess, so luckily I was always a pretty harsh editor throughout my schooling 😅

To continue the Larry=Dennis parallels, of course at some point there were calls for them to just replace the latest bozo pol with Dennis.
Now, this isn't quite as much of a joke as it is in real life, because, you know. The engines can talk and stuff. Isabella once ran for office, Trevor has served as an alderman, etc.
Sudrians have also, of course, been seriously talking about drafting railway vehicles into their government for years. For one thing, they have great name recognition. For another thing, Skarloey, Rheneas, Duke, Edward, and Toby have all been discussed, at various points, as perfectly reasonable candidates for mayors, MPs, etc.
Now, usually this gets no further than (at most) the Thin or Fat Controller feeling the need to make a statement reminding everyone that their respective railways could not possibly spare the potential candidates in question.
Dennis, though. After a memetic press conference photobombed and then taken over by the laziest diesel ever built, the island starts clowning about just replacing Exiting Disgraced Politician with Dennis.
And FC3 is all like, "Yes, we fully support Dennis if he chooses to pursue a career in government service. 🙃 Please. Do it. He'd be great."

The Engines as Mentors
Okay but I'm eternally salty that TVS in particular—though it was RIGHT to expand the NWR fleet—failed to use the dynamic of the OG characters from the books all functioning as Mentors and Elder Statesmen to the newer and more obscure and younger engines.
It would have been THE way to effectively integrate the newbies (looking especially hard at you, HIT era). Like, some of the best use of the new characters already are when they fall into a mentee dynamic with one of the established characters. But the TVS writers really only ever let this happen with, like, Thomas? To a degree? And Edward? A bit? And then the best and most beloved BWBA episodes (BWBA!) are when Gordon and, again, Edward get more of this sort of material. And then again, in fuckin' AEG, the most popular thing so far seems to be Gordon's whole Grumpy Dad shtick.
But I think canon and fan writers should have done this with all the classic characters. After decades as The Famous Eight—erm, Ten—(but not Eleven—to me Oliver is in that category of newbie that needs looking after. which is what the rest of the Little Western spends most of his one book doing!) they are all kinda old af and well-qualified and honestly just should be mentoring the diesels and younger steam engines and whatever wide-eyed newcomers are brought to the Island Where Fever Dreams Come True and Culture Shock Is Probably One Hell of a Bitch.
LIKE. Percy. Yes, absolutely Percy! He's inconsistent about standing up for himself or making good decisions in his own working life but honestly his instincts when it comes to others have always been completely on-point. And he never has any hesitation about acting on his instincts so there is a recipe here for big-brother success. He must be so wonderful with uncertain new engines. I think he would have been much better for taking Molly under his wing than Thomas, and he must be a god among many of the newer tank engines. Like the dynamic I tried to paint in my headcanon post about Harvey—Percy gives whiplash as your mentor because he will always support you 100% but sometimes he will suddenly make the most baffling decisions and if you are not, yourself, a natural chaos gremlin, you are just along for the ride and possibly dying of secondhand embarrassment. But again, you also get over it because no one will ever show up for you more consistently than Percy the Caterpillar Engine.
The BWBA era thing where Gordon winds up mentoring Rebecca is... like, fine, I guess. I don't have any complaints about it, but—as I tried to show in my ficlet with him and Derek—I think Gordon's most typical mentorships have two unmistakable characteristics:
it is insanely arbitrary as to whether or not he decides to take you on. if you wind up in his circle of trust you probably weren't trying or even remotely expecting. it is also hard for anyone else to understand why Gordon looked at a new engine and said to himself "Yes. That one." Because the way Gordon makes emotional decisions is utterly impenetrable—this is RWS canon. Why did Gordon one day go from being Pure Unadulterated Jackass Whose Only Thought So Far In His Life Has Been "Me! Me! Meeeee!" to the engine who (evidently? without?? snark???) suggested the Fat Controller let Henry out of the tunnel to take a turn on his train? Honestly we don't know but it remains Gordon's signature style. Why did Gordon do an about-face after James took the express and graciously decide James was his new buddy? Well, to save face of course, but Gordon is also not above a good grudge so it feels like a coin toss. Why did Gordon decide to be super gracious when he rescued Percy and Thomas from their RWS scrapes? No one knows but somehow these moments are so quintessentially him (even though showing up moaning and scolding would have also been quintessentially him). And—most relevantly of all—there is what I regard as his archetypal moment with BoCo. 'My dear engine! You SAVED MY LIFE.' 'I mean, you're welcome for getting rid of them but they were never actually going to kill you.' 'YES THEY WERE. THEY HAD MURDER IN THEIR HEARTS. YOU ARE A GOD AMONG DIESELS, STANDING STRONG AGAINST THE FORCES OF DARKNESS.' '... Sure.' Gordon logic is not the same as earth logic and his reasons for rejecting or accepting others seldom make much sense.
If he does take you on, you may not even notice. Gordon is very stuffy and kind of... emotionally remote. His mentorship style consists of long rambling bouts of relating/boasting about his own experiences and/or advising you, without you able to get much of a word in edgewise—but then, he does this with everyone who is ever stuck with him—and doing extraordinarily nice things for you such as pulling strings to get you the best assignments or upgrades but he'll do it all behind your back, so it might take a while before you realize. (But you'd better, because even though he deliberately decides to do these things in secret, he will also privately feel hurt and hard-done-by if you don't figure it out and thank him. Or at least exclaim happily in his presence and sing the praises of your unknown fairy godfather.)
So yes, mentor!Gordon is a lot like friend!Gordon and worker!Gordon. He is pretty damn high-maintenance but he is also genuinely quite worth it. What his relationships lack in... comprehensibility they make up for in loyalty and generosity. ALTHOUGH. It's worth laughing because I think most of the engines he takes on are decent, polite engines who perhaps have some self-confidence issues. Basically it's like any engine he meets afterwards who is in the Edward mould he is actually magnificent to, which is hysterical considering that one of the keynotes in early canon was Gordon bullying the shit out of Edward. (I still think that wasn't malicious though, and more Gordon did not yet have the remotest understanding of Himself, Theory of Mind, or How to Be a Friend.)
If you have self-confidence issues but you do not win Gordon's capricious favor, never fear! You have James. Who is even more capricious, but that's not to say he's never been the most faaaaaabulous mentor in the world, c'est ne pas? Look. I want to see James as the catalyst for shy newcomers having a glow up. In appearance and attitude. I don't think he does he often but it has definitely happened around twice. I somehow have never actually watched "Rosie is Red" or "The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor" while paying attention but I've been assuming that's exactly how Rosie's Confident Girl Arc went down. Maybe he could be a similar idol for Neville or Flora. Another thing that has happened twice is James just flat-out corrupting a couple of the Good, Buttoned-Down Boys and Girls. I still want to see James take, like, Porter or Arthur and teach 'em anger. Introduce them to the world of (tiny) rebellions. By the time James is done with them, they are starting to Display Behaviors, and Act In Certain Ways.
Henry, I firmly believe (sticking out my tongue at most of the TVS and magazine writing for him), is actually regarded very intimidating. Like Gordon and James are intimidating too, but they are also known jackasses and the universe is known to have slapped them around reliably when they get too far up their own tenders. Also Gordon usually puts on an air of affability—in RWS it's Henry who is the Grumpy One (and meanwhile James, though he has a foul temper, is just too ADHD to be properly intimidating). I suspect Henry's actually always had the reputation for being extremely snobbish. Which is silly because he's only mildly to moderately snobbish, but there you are. He also doesn't put himself out there socially, but of course if you put yourself out there to him he's perfectly friendly. Anyway newcomers and young engines wouldn't know this right away. I think Henry's specialty is mentees in the mold of Bear and my OC Laura and even Rebecca—extroverted, expressive engines who show him respect. In those cases you see his best side, all kindliness and unstinting support. And Henry's support is really valuable, for the usual reasons that all the OGs have a lot of pull on the railway but also because Henry is surprisingly sage and sensible. He doesn't have the reputation for it the way Edward does, due to some of his notoriously poor decision-making in his earlier years and the way he can still sometimes be a bit literal or naive. But even if he's had to learn most things the hard way, he hasn't lied to himself about it and therefore he's developed a very clear-eyed view on things. Refreshingly simple and sound. We see this already in the RWS Super Rescue—he's got Bear and Spamcan pretty well-pegged long before the story ends. He also values engine solidarity in a really consistent, utterly unpretentious way that shows you he doesn't even think about it, it's just become a part of who he is. I love it. And, of course, he's bold as brass. He once hissed steam at his boss and essentially told him to fuck off for no better reason than it was raining and he just wasn't feelin' it. He had the most horrid wreck in the series and after being rebuilt he just got right back on that horse, pulling Flying Kippers again for the next century without the slightest sign of trauma. So if you need him for something, he won't hesitate to move earth and heaven for a friend. He may be a bit of a hypochondriac and likes to predict doom and gloom but he is fundamentally pretty fearless when it comes time for action. (Cut him a break with the elephant thing—he's allowed to have tunnel-related trauma, okay?)
Of course there was one extroverted engine inclined to hero-worship that Henry rejected in canon as a mentee, and that was Philip. Which brings us to Edward, and I fully agree with the fandom consensus that he is the mentor ever, capable of and inclined to look out for, like, everyone. All I'm saying is that I think the others can also step up in this way... Anyway, Edward's specialty of course is engines who are in the mould of Thomas, engines who are excited and eager to work but who talk a lot and might have a streak of mischief and who are definitely considered Too Much by everyone else. Edward likes energetic gremlins. They've always kept him young at heart. And, more importantly, they trust him so completely. Probably because they can tell he's one of the few who genuinely doesn't mind them at what everyone else considers their Most Annoying. He never tells them to hold still or quiet down or make themselves smaller in any way, so they are incredibly receptive to whatever he does tell them.
But what if you're Too Much and you are not eager? If you are not susceptible to admiring Edward's stellar work ethic? I think this is where Thomas shines. Like I think HIT abbreviated and simplified the conflicts with Dennis and Billy too much but it was such a gold mine. Because Thomas, see. You get these little sneaky rotters who don't want to listen to anyone—and at first Thomas seems like the most out-of-touch engine on the rails. Coz Thomas is a tryhard. He also has that whole "corporate positivity" thing going on. Like, the way I resolve the way TVS massacring my boy is by supposing that, after all, Thomas might have really tried to adopt that persona, especially in the '80s when he was inducted into the National Collection and the, well, television series got underway and Thomas becomes damn near the most famous locomotive in the world, certainly he knows he is an icon for children, and he might have figured that, well, this means I have to be a Good Role Model and Teach Children Valuable Lessons. And so he really did try to do this whole pep-talk, moralizing, sugary sweet encouragement thing (and he has a Word of the Day calendar, lol).
And the Dennises and Billies of the world look at that and—understandably, I think—retch a little. But then they double down. And the thing is, when they push Thomas too far, Thomas forgets to be sweetness and light, and just becomes himself. First of all, a foul-mouthed little drill-sergeant wannabe ("Cinders and ashes!!!!" "Who's been late every afternoon this week?!" "You're too fat—you need exercise!" "IF YOU DIE? IF YOU DIE, MOTHERFUCKER? SO WHAT?! I WOULDN'T GIVE A SHIT COZ I'D BE TOO BUSY FINALLY RUNNING MY GODDAMN TRAIN TO TIME." - all direct quotes from Thomas the Tank Engine, ladies and gents) Secondly, an extremely experienced engine who really has done a bit of everything by this point (he even hitched a ride on the Wild Nor'wester that one time, lol) and who is pretty skeptical so he's hard to fool (Percy was the last engine to really ever get one over on him, during the Ghost Train incident, and that's ancient history by this point). If you try to get away with doing a shitty job he's bound to notice and he will be quite acid-tongued if you've pierced his PR Persona. Third, although he can be kinda self-involved and the last to "get" what's going on with newcomers, he is surrounded by his old friends, who are all pretty good about either clocking an engine's whole Deal, getting all the tea like the gossips they are, or both. So while he was still in his amiable-idiot stage of your acquaintance, you, poor rebellious fool, thought you had the run of things but all the while he was getting up to speed on your whole deal. Which means you won't be prepared, should you really commit to ongoing antisocial behavior, for Thomas the Beacon of Children Everywhere to abruptly cast up your entire life story to you and to read it for filth, telling you the merciless truth about yourself in a way that the other engines pieced together but with which they probably never hit you deadass between the eyes.
Of course, this doesn't mean the would-be punks and malcontents who get onto Sodor are instantly cured, lol (though it has gone down that way a few times—my alternate version of Billy's intro story would feature an end where he's just gobsmacked into submission). Sometimes it just means you are going to decide Thomas is your Hated Enemy for Life, but you know what? You will have to step up your game in order to compete with him or even to gain enough clout to try and sabotage him so you're still playing into his hand (if we accept TVS's idea that 'Devious Diesel' did become a part of the Sodor family, I think this is how he was successfully integrated. At some point Thomas unexpectedly read him the riot act and Diesel was like 'who the FUCK are you?? like i know i already had beef with all the main line engines but where the hell did YOU come from???' but then after decades of competition they are essentially frenemies). But mostly the thing is, you are shell-shocked for just long enough, and you'd probably shift to being a bigger asshole than before... but, during that period where you're still burned, you are also looking at all of Sodor and every engine on it with fresh eyes (because if Thomas the Merchandise Engine could ream you out like that, perhaps you underestimated everything about this place). And you are noticing something else. Once Thomas has scalded you with his bitchery, he's also your friend. It's almost his version of sharing his lunch with you on the playground. (Something something salt and vinegar.) For all he rode Henry so hard from some of the earliest days of canon, I bet you he also beat down any 'outsiders' who took shots at him. For all he and Percy squabble, they are the closest of friends (and they weren't! for decades! but the more they squabbled, the closer they got). Getting into a knock-down fistfight is alarmingly close to Thomas's love language, and by the time he's savaged you verbally he is also invested in you. Once he's told you what he really thinks of you, he's also going to start showing up for you genuinely.
And that's when the little shits see the final side of Thomas. The genuine good humor. Obviously it doesn't win over everyone but there is a real groundedness and humility that I am sure Thomas can show (I tried to show this in the fic I made with @shinygoku based off their artwork of Thomas and Daisy) that is hard to resist. He's also fucked up along the way in every way imaginable so even when he side-eyes you, he's not looking down at you. I can just see him showing screw-ups a lot of grace so long as they let down their guard even somewhat because he's been there. Hoo boy, has he been there. That's why kids actually love him (it's not your vocabulary lessons and beaming smile, Thom, though the effort is appreciated), and it's why young engines can wind up loving him too. He doesn't hold what you've done in the past against you; he genuinely believes in second chances (and third, and...). Plus he knows every engine needs some excitement and responsibility in their lives. He has never forgotten the insanity-inducing frustration of being tethered to Vicarstown station.
Basically, once you cut past Thomas's earnest (and bullshit) attempt to be Perfect Kids' Role Model, he's actually always been great at keeping it real. And that's where a genuine respect can often grow.

My notes watching Wheel of Time: Season 1, episode 3
Posted on readandfindout.com on 11/19/2021
4:00 – Not sure how I feel about Nynaeve using a weapon. Not that there’s anything wrong with it per se. But it’s just her thing, that she’s not a killer, but a Healer.
7:27 – By “you won’t he meant “succeed” of course. Because Lan.
7:50 – Yes, Perrin is gone, too. Nice of you to remember.
9:30 – I kind of feel like it should be obvious to WoT Novices that the Dragon Reborn is probably not Perrin or Mat.
10:46 – Perrin was not nearly so sanguine ITB about Egwene’s channeling, and he should not have been, because that’s super dangerous as Verin points out in the next book, and Perrin’s deal is that he understands the dangers of things and grasps the importance of controlling power instead of using it. Because he’s really strong and waves heavy objects for a living and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. And also, the One Power is the reason for every single aspect of WoT that is worse than the Real World, so people are more afraid of it than anything.
I kind of feel like they don’t get this and think they are fixing Perrin here, by making him supportive.
11:15 – And Egwene wants to go back home to look for their friends, instead of heading to Tar Valon. Like or hate her, like or hate this aspect of her character, it’s a big deal for her! Hell, ITB, she was adamant about not delaying their journey to the Tower for even the slightest detour even after Elyas demonstrated how much better off they would be in his company. Perrin even went on an uncharacteristically sarcastic mini-rant about it.
12:45 – Nynaeve would never require coercion or pressure of any sort to heal someone who was sick or hurt, for any reason. That is her thing. It’s as much her thing as Egwene’s ambition or Perrin’s caution. She would never hold out Healing in order to pressure someone into doing what she wants.
14:25 – Why be coy about her tracking? ITB she offered an explanation of her skills unsolicited.
I just realized that maybe she was embarrassed ITB in Baerlon, because she actually was more subconsciously relying on the link to Egwene and did not want to admit she was actually following a feeling she could not explain. Which, in turn, might explain her reluctance to answer Lan. Except in this version, there is still no explanation of how she then found Lan and Moiraine, rather than being drawn in Egwene’s direction.
17:28 – I like the dream if it’s Baalzamon trying to make Perrin fear the wolves, otherwise, wolves in his dreams were protecting him from Baalzamon. And shouldn’t be eating his dead wife.
17:40 – I’m imagining those snarls are wolvish for “Damnit Young Bull, we’re trying to help! There’s food over…no, not that way! Crap, someone find Long Tooth to talk to these idiots.”
20:13 – I feel like maybe the show people don’t know what the point of those cage things actually is. They are intended to make people die of exposure, a long, slow suffering. Not to hoist them up as target practice. One of those cages whose occupant is riddled with arrows looks like he was mercy-killed.
20:30 – Is this Whitebridge or Baerlon? It’s got a bridge, but it’s kind of shabby and miney for the former.
21:14 - >resigned sigh< I’m half expecting Min to be winning a drinking contest in this place. TV writers being all super-original and whatnot.
21:43 – Thom?
22:00 – Okay, guitar.
22:21 – Is this good singing? I can’t tell.
23:55 – A song about how sad LTT is would not be something people in the Third Age would appreciate.
24:52 – Saw that coming a mile away. Hood dude was a clear and obvious Film Pickpocket, but if he managed to get Thom, I’d have shut the browser window. Thom picking HIS pocket was the only way to stay true to the character. Happily.
25:07 – Please don’t let “donation for the gleeman” become the new “Toss a coin for your Witcher”.
25:13 – So with that essential character service out of the way, we can go on with Thom taking advantage of two hard-up young men in over their heads, because his mercenary attributes and greed are a thing with him.
25:53 – “Aawooo! Seriously, Young Bull! You’re going in the wrong direction for hunting or water. Just hold up, Long Tooth isn’t far!”
28:09 – Careful, barmaid. In Rand’s experience, doing the dishes means sex.
Ah, good thing she’s setting him to chop wood. No innuendo or euphemisms there.
29:00 – They don’t use scatological profanity in WoT. How hard is it to stick with “bloody” and “burn me” and “blood and ashes”? What’s gained by having Mat say “shit” all the time.
29:59 – Or sexual profanity. Not least because that tends to have sexist connotations.
30:17 – There’s a reason why Rand is mentioned as taking off his coat when doing chores for his room and board. It’s confining and gets in the way, especially a long flappy one like he’s wearing. Would it be too much trouble for TV writers to ever do a little manual labor so they know these things? Anyone who’s ever split wood would feel that shot was wrong.
32:02 – What exactly are we getting out of this whole scene in the bar? Turns out this is Breen’s Spring, so it’s not like this is an important locale they need to establish.
32:28 – This is NOT Mat! Even with the dagger affecting him for much longer, even when it has him thinking Rand will abandon him if he can’t keep up, he still sticks with Rand, protects him when he’s weak and gets him food and shelter.
32:55 – I don’t think the locals know the barmaid so well because of enforced familiarity, but because she’s prone to blabbering to even a stranger she was belittling moments ago for being lazy and useless. This is Sanderson all over again. Jordan wrote a million characters. We don’t need all this screen time devoted to a useless original one who serves no purpose.
35:56 – This is, like, exactly the opposite of how the Tinkers are presented. Why would you ever trust these creepy people without an intermediary like Elyas vouching for them?
36:30 – They haven’t actually been welcomed to the Tinker camp, because the show thought it would be better to have them seem creepy and shocking, so you get zero points for sticking with the book dialogue.
36:59 – “You both look awful and this is being said by people who appear not to have washed our top-knot man-bun dreadlocks in forever.” Why is so much TV dialogue putdowns, insults or mockery, even, or especially, between friendly characters?
38:18 – It’s almost like Perrin and Egwene tucked into their food so emphatically because they really want to finish and get away from the most evil person from Downton Abbey and her husband, Taika Waititi.
38:42 – Yay. Took off his coat.
38:47 – See, this is what I mean. You can dig into the barmaid’s comments to infer that she’s impressed with Rand’s work ethic and output, but it’s all negative. First, she’s questioning why he’s working when she let Mat off an hour ago, then she’s ironically noting that he’s chopped enough wood for the next year and when he asks for confirmation that he’s done enough to earn food and shelter, her manner of agreement is as if she’s trying anything but to say, “yes, good job, thank you.”
39:28 – And she’s only being actually nice when she’s being a good LGBTQ ally. Because that’s the highest virtue. And they’re playing it for laughs, so it’s not even like this is being woke.
39:53 – WHY have Rand and Mat each exchanged more words with the bar woman than with Thom? Or maybe even each other since coming into this town? They might have spent more time with her, each, than Lan and Nynaeve have interacted.
40:02 to 40:16 – Lan sitting on his horse looking over a cliff. Why? You couldn’t have him just ride up to Nynaeve and Moiraine and say he found it?
43:06 – “Stop acting like a bloody white-veiled Aiel” doesn’t have the same ring to it. Thom knowing about Aiel honor also feels wrong.
44:20 – I like Thom kind of teaching Mat a moral lesson here and being a good example. He doesn’t get enough credit for that ITB.
45:19 – And we’re back to the barmaid. She had better be a Darkfriend at this point.
48:00 – Okay. Better, but predictable. And no, the braid doesn’t make you look like Egwene when you’re easily 50 pounds heavier than she is and the nose ring only highlights another proboscis-related difference.
48:30 – I suppose it would make sense for a gleeman to have some knowledge of Aiel customs, even if he didn’t bury the guy properly, but you’d think that with that knowledge would come questions or speculation as to what one was doing so far out of his homeland.
50:36 – Dana the Darkfriend.
52:24 – Predictable can be satisfying. There was no way this monologue was ending without Thom’s knife suddenly sticking out of her. But it’s only satisfying because she’s been so annoying and pointless and taking up too much of the episode, not because she is actually scary as a chubby woman in a bulky dress trying to hold off two fit men.
54:38 – Since when do Aes Sedai address each other as “(Name) Sedai”?
How did we get through the introduction of the Tinkers with no reference in the whole episode to the Way of the Leaf? That's like a vegan's diet - they find a way to work it into every conversation.

Parsha 23. Pekudei,“The Torchbearer.” From Exodus 38:21–40:38.
Peq= oversight
Ud= firebrand
Ei= the primary particle
In the previous sections of Exodus we studied how the Temple and its wares are to be made and how they complete the transition from an adolescent into an adult Israelite male.
This process, previously discussed in terms like the Seven Days and Forty Years, Climbs and Dreams are called Waves, ie, 'waves goodbye' in Pekudei.
The Materials Used
21 These are the amounts of the materials used for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the covenant law, which were recorded at Moses’ command by the Levites under the direction of Ithamar "palm tree island or oasis", son of Aaron, the priest.
22 Bezalel- under God’s protection- son of Uri- the flame- the son of Hur- liberty- of the tribe of Judah “praise”, made everything the Lord commanded Moses;
23 with him was Oholiab “The father’s tent” son of Ahisamak “Brother’s strength) of the tribe of Dan “God is my judge”—an engraver and designer, and an embroiderer in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen.)
24 The total amount of the gold from the wave offering used for all the work on the sanctuary was 29 talents and 730 shekels,[a] according to the sanctuary shekel.
The Torah Tantra in this stanza is:
"Under God's Protection, men are delivered from bondage and disorder to the fertile oasis. There liberty and unity taught within one's father's house and made into law by our brother's strength. About these things we write, and on them we spend our time."
The Waves.
Waves are grouped by metals. They are weighted and measured in various units:
Silver-silver is our humanity. Common expressions of God's Grace by mankind are said to be exchanged using silver currency. Items made of silver are considered extravagant and precious but they are never that expensive to make or obtain.
Bronze is a reflective surface associated with "bronzing" or "glowing with the light of the sun."
Units:
Shekels are usually spoken of in halves. Anything measured in half a shekel, AKA a Beka, is yours and mine to contribute.
Talents are the products of the faculties. They are the latent expressions of the soul come to life when we grow. They enter through the nose as the first breath, they exit during the simple recitation of the words of the Torah:
"The Torah uses a very unusual expression when it comes to the human soul. It says that G-d blew into Adam's nostrils a soul of life."
The Torah says, below, this expression is physical, phenomenal, and seminal as of the age of 20, also called "Gerah" or "two sets of ten":
The Torah stipulates that the minimum age at which a person had to make his half-shekel contribution was from twenty years and up.
The Torah revealed a secret here when it did not demand that males from the age of 13 and up had to make this contribution. Seeing the males are considered as adults from the age of 13, why would teenagers not have been liable for this ransom? They also participated in the Golden Calf episode!
Maturity is essential to…appreciate G‑d's message to man…
The Torah told us here that a person's personality [Nefesh] has not matured until age 20, as he had not had time to absorb and comprehend the various spiritual components that make up a true Israelite until he has reached that age. This is the mystical dimension of the verse "You are My son, I have fathered you this day" (Psalms 2:7).
The Silver Wave
25 The silver obtained from those of the community who were counted in the census was 100 talents[b] and 1,775 shekels,[c] according to the sanctuary shekel—
26 one beka per person, that is, half a shekel,[d] according to the sanctuary shekel, from everyone who had crossed over to those counted, twenty years old or more, a total of 603,550 men.
27 The 100 talents of silver were used to cast the bases for the sanctuary and for the curtain—100 bases from the 100 talents, one talent for each base.
28 They used the 1,775 shekels to make the hooks for the posts, to overlay the tops of the posts, and to make their bands.
Time= the silver wave I spoke of above.
Hooks = hooks hook the lamb and goat skin to the Primal Fire. It is the Light of Sentience which grows as time passes under proper conditions. These conditions are supposed to be guaranteed by the Synagogue.
Posts= anything having to do with posts, poles, staffs, clubs, swords, cucumbers, carrots, daikon radishes refer to the penis. Everything and everything else after that must always refer to this.
Except this one is different, it's made of silver and it's been tested by time so you know it's going to be really really good.
Once sentience hooks the boy, his skin, and his head together and a cute little rational lamb is born, then we move on to posting him.
A silver post which connects "floor to ceiling" is how we funnel the light. The Ark- Hebrew tradition- is carried by gold covered wooden posts, before one is prepared for this honor must find a way to connect the silver light to the mind using a mature outlook and an educated approach to the rest of the world.
The Silver Post and the Funnel of Light are the opposite of a dirty dick with a discharge issue.
Bands= the Tefillin. Tefillin are binding between the "signs" of the Mitvot, Mishpatim, Tzavs, Edoms, Decrees, the Days, the Branches, etc. and the faculties, the mind and the self. The Tefillin remind us God loves us. God's love. like affection from other men binds us safely and happily to this life, every minute of every day we are alive.
From Deuteronomy 6, which explains the purposes of the Silver Bands:
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
The Bronze Wave
29 The bronze from the wave offering was 70 talents and 2,400 shekels.[e]30 They used it to make the bases for the entrance to the tent of meeting, the bronze altar with its bronze grating and all its utensils,
31 the bases for the surrounding courtyard and those for its entrance and all the tent pegs for the tabernacle and those for the surrounding courtyard.
Bronze and water are mirrors, they represent the self and the Self, the sun on the surface of the water. All the utensils, the hands, the feet, the eyes, ears, nose, male organ, the mind, all of these must bear witness to their own qualities in the mirror of the altar where peace is made between all conflicting ideals.
I think Moses intended a double entendre, when he said "this is the basis for the temple tabernacle and courtyard."
Pegs are the values that cement the witness with his reflection so they are appealing to God. He like you wants to look at Himself and others and see something that doesn't make Him want to retch.
The Priestly Garments
39 From the blue, purple and scarlet yarn they made woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary. They also made sacred garments for Aaron, as the Lord commanded Moses.
Yarns are our thoughts. Some are sacred, some not so much. The Torah says if we wind our thoughts around the Decrees, the Skills, the Fruits and the Foods and become quite skilled at it, things turn out okay.
If we get caught up, back to the mud pits on one side, the afterlife on the other, no fun at all in between.
The Ephod
2 They[f] made the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen. 3 They hammered out thin sheets of gold and cut strands to be worked into the blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen—the work of skilled hands.
4 They made shoulder pieces for the ephod, which were attached to two of its corners, so it could be fastened. 5 Its skillfully woven waistband was like it—of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen, as the Lord commanded Moses.
6 They mounted the onyx stones in gold filigree settings and engraved them like a seal with the names of the sons of Israel. 7 Then they fastened them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel, as the Lord commanded Moses.
-> The Gold Thread is Sentience, the Light God shined upon the Deep to get it release its hold on creation. As the Book of John says: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. The Darkness is more than chaos or dimness, it is evil, which is real. The Light of God has been in combat with it for ages, and it is faltering.
Volcanoes are erupting all over the world in response to the Trump Border Wall and murders of the oceans, Vladimir Putin’s unchecked incendiary bombing of Ukraine. We treat the poor as badminton shuttlecocks, you handle it, no you, primitive, insentient religious cults are somehow getting plenty of time of day in America, we are very definitely caught up in a mesh and it's not made of sacred yarns.
They are shitty yarns, easy to expose and shear through. If the Gold Thread and the Blue do not meet, Darkness falls. The Blue Thread is the mind, where the sun illuminates all the phenomena an creatures that are made and die everyday
Purple Thread is always sovereignty. Sovereignty means more than we grow up and earn a few rights and privileges, much more than calling some schmuck the Crown Prince, that is ridiculous. Sovereignty is defined by the United Nations as a deep and lasting national commitment to human equity, security, and property ownership.
These things, when bound together confer what is called sovereignty, which is like a driver's license for governments that demonstrate they and their people aren't completely barking mad bug eyed and batshit crazy or do it as little as possible.
Sovereignty is what Torah is all about. It is first the sovereignty of Light of Sentience over the animal nature, it is innovation, conservation, and all things inter-nation as Onan discovered.
The Red Thread signifies steadfastness against the plagues- envy, jealousy, sloth, bloodshed, all the violations of the Commandments.
This Parsha will continue....

GAMING RECAP (APRIL 22-30)
Vampire Survivors Is Getting An Animated Series
Vampire Survivors is going Hollywood thanks to the announcement of an upcoming animated TV adaptation.
Developer poncle has confirmed that it's working with gaming consulting company Robot Teddy and media company Story Kitchen to bring the hit arcade bullet hell game to the small screen. Story Kitchen is helmed by names such as Dmitri Johnson (co-producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog films), John Wick creator/writer Derek Kolstad, and APA agent Mike Goldberg. There’s currently no other details about what the series will entail, such as the cast or a premiere date.
“The most important thing in Vampire Survivors is the story, so it's a dream come true to see what started as a little indie game I made on my weekends come to life as an animated TV show! It’s also great to be partnering up with such experienced and talented people to make the show. I do wonder if they've realised that there isn't a single vampire in Vampire Survivors, though,” says Luca Galante, founder of poncle in a press release.

UK Regulators Block Microsoft's Acquisition Of Activision Blizzard Over Cloud Gaming Concerns
The Competition and Markets Authority, a U.K. regulatory agency that serves the same function as the Federal Trade Commission in the U.S., has blocked Microsoft's pending $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard over cloud gaming concerns.
This news is somewhat shocking, as quite a few experts predicted the CMA would allow the deal to go through, and while this block presents a large barrier to Microsoft's progress forward toward this acquisition, it's not a be-all, end-all for the purchase. Microsoft says it remains dedicated to this acquisition and will appeal the CMA's ruling.
As for why the CMA is moving to prevent the acquisition, it cites concerns "the deal would alter the future of the fast-growing cloud gaming market, leading to reduced innovation and less choice for UK gamers over the years to come," in its official announcement.

"Xbox hardware revenue declined 30% and 28% in constant currency on a high prior year comparable that benefited from increased console supply," she added.

Hello. This is Iroha Okuda 🦙. Yesterday was Setsubun, right? Did you eat Ehōmaki? I ate it up all without saying a word! I heard that wishes come true...! Good! Nagi and I were talking yesterday. I asked her, "What's the direction for this year? "Ummm, south, north, south, north, south..." Where is it? She said, "Where is that? LOL. We were talking about eating it facing straight up, but when we ate it, we did eat it facing south-southeast! ✌🏻 By the way, I went to Shibuya TSUTAYA a few days ago.
On the 1st floor, there was a big panel of Nogizaka VOL.03, and on the 2nd floor, there was an exhibition of Shin Nogizaka Star Tanjō! I was so impressed!
I tried to take a picture with the panel, but this was the best I could do...
Shin Nogizaka Star Tanjō! Thank you for watching so much.
The next episode will be the last one...
40 episodes went by so fast! Those of you who have been watching the show may already know that this is the first time for me to write a song for the show.
I tried my hand at "songwriting" for the first time! It's something I've always dreamed of doing.
I was finally able to give it shape.
I may not be the best at it, but I put a lot of what I love and what I am passionate about into it! (I'll write another blog post after the broadcast.) I'm so glad I was able to make so many of my dreams come true at this event. Shin Nogizaka Star Tanjō! will be aired on NTV on Mondays from 1:29 am to 1:59 am.
I hope you will watch us till the end!
