Summary: You’ve been traveling with Henry and Sam for over a year now. Once you meet Joel and Ellie your entire world changes.

4 months. It had been 4 months since you laughed. Not the kind of laugh just to convince Sam that everything was gonna be okay. But an actual laugh. The kind you gasp for air, your eyes shut and your stomach and face hurt after. At some point you wish to feel that again. The unexplainable happiness that stays with you forever.

You met Joel and Ellie only a day ago. Ellie was sweet, she was innocent. Ellie was the perfect friend for Sam, she made him laugh in a way you couldn’t. It made you happy, so so happy. Joel was different. He has a deep rugged voice with a Texan accent, you remember after hearing it looking over at Henry and saying “He’s strong. He can protect us. Plus, he’s pretty hot,” earning a laugh from Henry.

You’ve finally gotten away from Kathleen; well less gotten away and more she got infected. You’ve been in an abandoned Motel for only an hour when Joel sat next to you.

“So…he’s your what? Your boyfriend?” Joel asked, his voice not sounding confident at all.

“Who? Henry? No. Wait, Sam or Henry?” You ask quickly with a slight smile.

You see Joel roll his eyes and look the other way. You also hear a laugh, his laugh.

“I got you motherfucker! I made you laugh!” You hit his arm lightly laughing with him.

“Whatever,” he tells you.

“I don’t mean to get all sappy but it’s been a while since I laughed. Like actually laughed,” You admit to Joel.

“Yeah, Yeah me too.”

“There’s a uhm, amusement park not too far from here. It’s kind of a reminder to me that it’s not all that bad here,” you mention to him, smiling to yourself.

“You’re old enough to remember amusement parks?” He asks skeptically.

“Kind of, I was 6 when the outbreak happened. Mainly remember stuff like that from movies or whatever.” You look down at your feet while saying this.

Joel stays silent but his eyes keep on you.

“Hey Joel. Look I don't care if you like us or not but please promise me you’ll keep us safe? I can’t lose anyone else.”

He leans closer to you, taking your head in his hand and placing it on his shoulder.

“You don’t have to worry anymore, okay? I’m gonna protect you.”

You both pause for a minute before Joel speaks up again.

“Me and Ellie, we’re going down to Wyoming to find my brother. If you wanted to go with us, you’re uhm, more than welcome to,” he says hesitantly.

“I would like that. I’d really like that. I’ll ask them about it tomorrow,” you respond smiling wildly

“Y’know, Sam really likes you. It’s been a while since I've seen him this happy,” You tell Ellie while you get them situated for bed.

“Yeah, and Joel likes you,” She says back.

“Oh, I don’t know about that.”

“It’s true! You really don’t see the way he looks at you?” She says back, causing you to smile.

You spent the whole night snuggled up next to Joel, feeling his warm breath on your neck. He kept a steady grip on your waist almost as if he was scared you’d run while he was asleep.

You woke up to a scream. Ellie’s scream. Sun is peeking out of the window. The door beside you slams open with Sam lunging at Ellie. Ellie is trying to kick Sam off of her but it’s useless. Joel reaches for the gun but Henry is quicker. Henry points it at Joel as Ellie screams.

“Joel! Help!”

As Joel tries to reach out to Ellie Henry shoots the gun next to his foot.

You’re still in shock trying to not shake. You slowly back up onto the wall as Henry holds the gun to Joel. In an Instant Henry Moves the gun to Ellie and Sam.

BANG

The gun goes off and a splatter of blood decorates the dirty wall. Sams blood. Everyone is silent until Henry moves the gun back to Joel.

“Henry, give me the gun,” Joel commands slowly.

“What did I do?” Henry speaks up softly.

“What did I do? What did I do?,” he repeats over and over again.

He faces Sams cold, still body. The only thing moving being the pool of blood.

Your fully sat against the wall, your hand cupping your mouth holding back sobs.

You’re silent until Henry points the gun to his temple and it goes off.

BANG

For the second time in this room. For the second time in the last minute. For the second time the same gun goes off. Killing the last people you had.

A loud croaky scream, almost shriek, rips out of your mouth. You fall forward to your knees, tears now streaming down your face as you sob

NO, NO, NO. PLEASE

This can’t be happening. One minute ago both of them were alive. One minute ago you dreamt of traveling with the four of them. All of it. Gone.

Joel shovels dirt over the two bodies as you sit next to the “graves.” Tears still run down your face as Ellie places Sams writing board on the ground.

I’M SORRY

The words etched into the plastic lay there.

“C’mon,” Joel says as he reaches a hand out to you. It takes all the strength you have at the moment to get you away from the dirt, from the bodies. Joel's hand stays on your back guiding you to catch up with Ellie. You don’t look back. You’re afraid that if you look back you won’t want to look forward ever again.

It had been four months since laughing made your chest hurt. Four months since laughing made your face hurt. It wasn’t laughing that caused you this unexplainable feeling, it was the very much explainable feeling of guilt and death. And you wish you never have to feel like this ever again.

“Ok, fine, if it’ll get you two off my back I’ll call 998.”

“It’s 988,” Sam said kindly.

“Whatever,” you sassed at him. “I’m not suidical, I don’t need some telephone shrink to tell me I am.”

“I am reasonably certain that that is not what they’re going to do. Just, tell them about the pills and what you were feeling at the time, and see what they say. See if they have ideas for next time you’re feeling that way.” You looked up into his big, puppy dog eyes, pleading with you.

“Fiiiiine. But I’m doing it alone!”

Sam and Dean exchanged a look. “Oh, for the love of God, you two and your looks! Ok, you can watch me dial, you can see them pick up, and then you are OUT!”

“Agreed,” Dean said, entering the conversation. He often seemed to make decisions for the two of them, you wondered if he knew that.

Sam handed you an old-looking phone. “It’s a burner, they can’t trace it here, and it’s not tied to any of our names. So if you do let anything slip that you didn’t want to, don’t worry about it. They won’t be knocking on the door.”

You keyed in the numbers. 9. 8. 8. You took a deep breath.

Here goes nothing.

The brothers finally let you out of their sight after that, but you noticed that one of them would come check on you hourly. “Did you guys set up a schedule or something? Is there some kind of fucking sticker chart for who goes to visit the crazy chick the most?!” you yelled at Dean. He always did make you angriest.

“You know what, I would like a sticker chart, thanks for the idea,” he said sarcastically. “Here I was slumming it just doing things out of the goodness of my own heart when I could have had stickers!”

You glared at him. He glared back.

“Well, you’re clearly fine, screaming at me is your favourite fucking hobby,” he grumped, then stormed off down the corridor.

5 minutes before the next hour, you crept to the library. The brothers were in their usual spots, reading old books and searching the web. Your cushion was against the wall, now.

“I, um, I thought I’d save you the trip,” you said nervously as you entered. “And, um, I’m sorry I yelled at you, Dean. I do appreciate you two looking out for me.”

Dean smiled at you, a genuine, warm smile. “Apology accepted, swee- uh, Y/N.”

“What, um, what are you guys doing?”

Dean pursed his lips before answering. He said in a gentle voice, “Are you sure you want to know?”

“I appreciate the concern, Dean, but I’m not made of glass.”

“We’re trying to research about Azaneth.”

“Oh. I probably should’ve guessed that. Does that mean you’re going after him?”

“If you want us to, we will.”

You shivered. Could they really kill him? What if he got them first? “What- um- what if, he, umm- what if he- whatifhe-”

Dean glanced at Sam, who stood up and approached you. He walked towards you slowly with his hands open and non-threatening. He put his hands gently on your shoulders.

“You don’t have to talk about him if you don’t want to, Y/N,” Sam said.

“It’s ok, I just- I just can’t-”

Sam rubbed his hands up and down your upper arms. “Are you worried about him getting you again?”

You bit your lip. “No… I mean, yes, of course, but umm,” you paused, and then said in a rush, “Imworriedabouthimgettingyoutwo.”

“I didn’t quite understand that, I’m sorry, Y/N,” Sam said earnestly.

“I’m worried that he’ll kill you two, and you shouldn’t risk your lives just because of me,” you mumbled, a little slower this time.

“Y/N, we care about you. We care about the other people that Azaneth is probably hurting, and even if it’s not like what he did to you, he’s a pretty big dickhead of a demon. We’re also not stupid, we don’t go into fights we don’t think we can get out of.”

“I guess…”

Dean stood up and came into your field of view again, no longer blocked by his brother, but he didn’t come too close. “Why shouldn’t we risk our lives for you?” he said quietly. “Why should we risk them for everyone else and not you?”

“I’m not worth it,” you muttered.

“The person who convinced you of that did you and everyone a massive disservice,” Dean replied, piercingly quiet. Like a teacher who could control a room with a whisper rather than a shout. It struck to your core, bringing up many, bewildering and painful emotions.

You fled to your room.

The brothers still took turns checking on you, but no one brought up Azaneth again. You all ate dinner on the cushions in the kitchen again, with the brothers carrying on a conversation and you not contributing. Still, it was nice to be included.

The next morning, Sam was putting away the clean dishes when you came into the kitchen.

“Guess I should learn where these go,” you joked weakly.

Sam chuckled, offering you a plate. “Goes in the bottom cupboard over there. Try not to drop it,” he teased.

“I didn’t actually think I’d drop them,” you said a little awkwardly. “But it was a possibility, so it wasn’t a lie. I just didn’t really want to do it that day.”

“It may surprise you to know this, but I was far more excited that you challenged me than if you’d helped me put away some dishes,” he said sincerely.

You nodded, then focused on the plate in your hand.

“Had you felt like there were things you didn’t want to do on other days?” he asked, then hastily added, “Sorry to pry, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”

You tipped your head slightly to the side as you thought. “In some ways, no. Not wanting to do something, and therefore not doing it, was a fairly foreign concept to me. There were things I was afraid of and dreaded, but I knew they’d happen anyway. Having something that I just didn’t want to do was... different.”

He nodded, having been focused on your face the whole time you were speaking.

“I- I don’t even quite know why I didn’t want to put the dishes away. I just suddenly realised in that moment that you asked me that I just, didn’t really feel like it. I didn’t feel like much that day.”

Sam looked like he wanted to say something, but stopped himself. Apparently, the boys were doing a lot of that around you recently.

“Whatever it is you’re thinking, you may as well say it,” you said to him.

“It’s just, I had a theory about what was going on for you that day. It took me a while to work it out but when I saw you in the evening it clicked. But I don’t want to mansplain you to you; I might be wrong.”

“Go ahead, I don’t know what I’m thinking half the time anyway.”

“You missed Dean,” he said quietly.

Oh.

Somehow, you hadn’t thought of that.

Was it true?

It felt a little bit true.

But that was ridiculous! If you missed him it was only because you missed the certainty of knowing what your master wanted, of the collar telling you what you had to do.

Hiiiii I accidentally messed up the numbering of the past few posts since like... The 4th, I'm glad it wasn't longer than that but I finally had time to sit down today and draft and queue more posts and actually add things to the sheets I made (yes I have a Google sheets file with so much info about each post and the dates and numbers and stuff- anyway) and I noticed, huh that's weird, why aren't we near 1000 yet..... Oh no

So uh yeah somehow on the 4th I posted 998 instead of 988, I guess I can see how that would happen, but then the next one was 899? Then 900, then somehow 801, and then I've been counting from there.... Whoops ... This is what happens when I've been working 2 jobs and also opened a show at the beginning of February so I haven't actually had time to sit down on my laptop and queue stuff, I've just been doing it on my phone in passing moments of free time... Whoopsie 💀🧍

Anyway it's fixed now! Today isn't 807, it's 997, which means day 1000 is soon! I should've known something wasn't right when Tumblr told me I hit 1000 posts on this blog a few days ago .... H m

Anyway, things should be back to normal now! ...and hopefully with a little more variety in episodes I post, I've just only had what I had drafted already to work with and not been able to pull things from my laptop, but now there's a few more options! Which, speaking of....

I've been meaning to make a post like this for a little while but haven't gotten around to it - what episodes do you want to see screenshots from?? I've been posting screenshots I like, or I think people will like, but I wanna know - what would you like to see? ...to anyone that may read this anyway. Feel free to write in the notes, or send me an ask, or do whatever feels comfortable for you! Or you can submit screenshots and I'll queue them up if they haven't been posted yet - I've had people send me some before, and apologies for not responding to your asks, but I do definitely see them!!! And I appreciate them so much!!

tl;dr, I goofed on the last 10 days of posts, but I fixed them now, and now I'm going to sit down and queue more for at least a little bit so more screenshots can actually get posted on time instead of when I realize before going to bed 😔 and I'd love to hear from you all on what you'd like to see on this account! One Piece - Episode 998 - "Aniki"

It's time for my 2000th post celebration!

It has been a lot of fun getting to this point! Thanks to those who have stuck around over the years and to newer followers as well.

Rather than making this purely focused on One Piece, I thought it may be fun to look back at the beginning of this blog, and give a bit of spotlight to the transitions it has been though up to this point.

I began this blog back in April of 2020, mainly out of an interest in keeping up with artists who were creating AU fan comics of Steven Universe, a show I began while it was in the middle of airing its fourth season, and caught up to soon after. Three fan comics I especially enjoyed reading were a White Diamond Steven AU by Chekhov, a comic where Steven has a sister(Twiniverse,) and a special shoutout to makingfriendos/court and snidy for being a great source of joy and whimsy with their SU art back then, being the creators of one of the first fan comics I really delved into.

The comic they worked on, Steven Universe B-Sides, focused on the trio of Lapis, Peridot, and Bismuth being Steven's guardians and is a joy to read. Captured the essence and humor of season one very well.

In fact, one of their drawings is the origin of the original name of this blog "showergelfan." Sourcing to a lovely doodle they drew of Peridot not understanding human cuisine and thinking that a shower gel recipe was acceptable for human consumption.

Moving forward a bit to September of 2020, Steven Universe had finished airing a few months ago and I shifted into mainly focusing on Amphibia and Owl House around the time, both shows having very active fan bases during their runs(shoutout to the-lone-witch-and-secret-room for being a cool and friendly presence within the Owl House fandom during the show's air.) Amphibia especially resonated with me for its humor, characters, and fun to explore world. Frogs being one of my favorite animals gave it a boost too.

A few other cartoons found their way into the mix as well, namely Hilda and Infinity Train. Both also good shows which I still recommend. I didn't explore fan works for these shows as much I did with Steven Universe, though enjoyed them all none the less.

Then finally, around August/September of 2021, I began the most recent and current focus towards One Piece from then on, with the name switch to fallensnowfan and greater attention to Kiku and friends happening in July of 2022. Being in part due to discovering the blog of cool friend basedkikuenjoyer around that time. Hi!

Going to conclude this celebration post with a small section dedicated to the much anticipated episode 1084, directed by Kenichi Takeshita, and the episodes he has worked on previously:

Tomorrow's episode, 1084 will be about an "untold story from before the Straw Hats' departure," and I am very excited to watch!

It is kind of amazing that The Clone Wars, a show for children, has an episode card literally dealing with the concept of attachment and yet grown adults on this platform and others still think attachment means love and the Jedi are evil and wrong for forbidding it.

Not sure if anyone has talked about this yet but the scene where Obi-Wan rescues Leia in the dark interrogation room and how his lightsaber is the brightest thing... This mirrors perfectly his explanation to her of what the Force is in episode three.

The Dark Side is consistently represented by black and red. We use red lighting in photography and also in star gazing because as the lowest colour on the spectrum of light it doesn't affect the darkness too much (which means we can develop pictures/it doesn't disrupt our night vision). So it makes sense that red is so heavily associated because it doesn't disrupt the darkness. But blue is on the near opposite end of the spectrum. When it turns on, Obi-Wan's lightsaber is so bright in that shot amongst the red and black, and when he turns it off he's invisible again.

But the point is that when it turns on, he is the brightest thing in the room and the brightest object in the Force that Leia can sense.

Obi-Wan is the light turning back on, that makes you feel safe from the dark.

A young wanderer traveling the world after a government takeover forced him to leave the Miasui Icedom. The experience has given him an aura of apathy. While working as a mercenary, he meets Lydie and travels with her as her bodyguard, later joining Ana-Maria’s party. Even with his off-putting personality, his innate good nature has not changed, and despite his complaining, he tends to put great effort into helping others.

Some people prefer order of release because that’s how the story was originally told. Some people prefer order of record because Lydie’s ep. 1 takes place the earliest in the chronology, so it might make more sense to watch hers before anyone else’s. Order of release can give you some insight on how certain plot details were revealed while order of record is for those who want their story to feel less episodic. I think either order is fine.
