Thoughts on Ai?

Heya, @pinkprimrose05 xD It seems that you already asked my friend, @saltiestcoconut, so there's not much I can add. (Not that I have much to add, lmao.) Here's their response in case anyone missed it!

How I feel about this character: He's pretty funny, his puns and humor made him pretty likeable if not annoying, lololololol. I think it's really cute thet Ai calls Yūsaku Yūsaku-chan. ^^

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Yūsaku because it's Jay's ship, so I support my friends. u_u I very rarely write them, but Aiballshippers are pretty nice and seem to like my fics. If you're interested, it's Over and Over Again and Another Day with You (written for an Aiball zine).

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Flame. Roboppi.

My unpopular opinion about this character: It was a downgrade for Ai to take on a life-size and more human-like humanoid form, lmao. I like him as a blob. Ignis should fit in your duel disk. xD

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: An actually filler epsiode in the whole of VRAINS, maybe the day in the life of high school boy Yūsaku through the lenses of Ai the Ignis.

My Two Cents on the “Episode Ignis” trailer. (THEORY)

Alright. Brace yourselves, this is gonna be a bumpy ride. 

Also, in case you were wondering, SPOILERS FOR THE TRAILER BELOW.

It was a theory I had supported since before we knew anything about Episode Ignis- Ignis using the Ring of Lucii. This, has now become canon in the trailer, as he uses it (according to the trailer footage) to defend Noctis. 

Pretty open and shut. Or is it?

The common theory is that Ignis uses the Ring to protect Noctis, and in exchange he is to give up his sight. 

Something about that, just didn’t really sit well with me. While it is a viable excuse, as it is most likely the sense he holds most dear (ie: He tells Noct at camp one morning that he cooks because he cherishes the looks on peoples faces when they try his cooking, and even still recalls how Noctis first looked the first dish he prepared for him, or how he wears glasses even though his vision is passable because he prefers to see the world around him in crisp detail) it seems a little light of a sentence for someone deemed not worthy of using the Ring of Lucii and receiving its light. For Nyx himself, he gave his life to use the Ring, even if he wasn’t entirely deemed worthy of using it. 

So, here is where my thoughts comes in. 

Thinking about the Ring of Lucii, what if Ignis is found worthy of the Ring? 

Research so far points to the fact that it is possible for someone of non royal blood to use the ring (Nyx, despite the unique circumstances) but what deems someone worthy of using the Ring? Ignis has spent his life in servitude to Noct, honoring an oath he made to protect him at all costs.

“I.. swore an oath to stand by Noct and keep him safe, whatever it takes! I WILL PROTECT HIM!” 

He not only serves Noct, but guides him, practically raising him when Regis was unable to. He protects Noctis and his companions at all costs and considers the best alternative to save those around him as well. He has sharp leadership skills and a hefty moral compass combined with his drive to succeed but also see those around him succeed. These qualities, plus being quite wise beyond his years make him both a natural born leader and (putting into ring terms) a natural born king. A leader the people could trust to follow. 

“Before falling into eternal slumber, the Six gave mankind a ring. The ring is said to have passed from person to person, but none were fit to inherit its power. It eventually found its way into the hands of a person deemed worthy, whom people thus saw fit to rule and he became the first king of Lucis.”

Yes, Ignis is not a king, but given his life in speculation, it is possible he would be deemed worthy to use the Ring, especially for his purpose of using it in the first place. 

Not for power. 

Not to conquer. 

To protect his closest friend, the One True King. Noctis. 

How big of a blow would that be to Ardyn, thinking Ignis is just going to destroy himself when he sees him try to wield the ring and then- whoops turns out he's worthy? How pissed would that make him? How dangerous of an opponent would that make Ignis now?

I think Ignis might actually be worthy of using the ring. 

And Ardyn is the one who destroys his sight. 

To hinder him from his full potential as an enemy? Possibly. 

Out of spite for Ignis refusing to join him and being worthy of the Ring whereas Ardyn is not? Also Possibly. 

Not only is this theory backed up by text, the visuals themselves also hint to this. 

Look at how the Ring of Lucii rendered both Nyx and Ravus when they were using it. 

Strong, bright colors emitting from within, like embers of a fire. Or in Ravus’s case- legit fire. 

And yet, what did Ignis’s eyes look like from his perspective as he started to go blind?

Hmm.. Purple and black, now where have we seen energy like this before?

Bingo. 

Anyways, this was my speculation on the trailer and the possbilities that it opens up for the gameplay. I feel like this would add an interesting twist to the already existing theory, and actually seem possible given the evidence we have so far. Take it or leave it, but that’s my two cents on the subject.

Like, it took me some thinking to realise why he wasn't in pain or anything so I'm surprised I haven't seen people bitching

out of curiosity, why does Kero crush on idia?

Ahh this is a really good and interesting question and has actually a more deep meaning than me just enjoying Idia!!

So okay, I have always enjoyed Cerberus' character and mythology and loved his myths and representation. I am huge Cerberus nerd, if you want to call it like that. So that, with me loving twst's concept and having Hercules as my most cherished Disney film, that's how Kero was born.

I just wanted a character inspired in the big and fearsome Cerberus from hercules, and well, he was gonna be in Ignihyde and he was gonna believe he was idia's best friend because, you know, you cannot separate a guy from his beloved dog. The thing is, at that time i really didnt considered Idia as a character I liked, or was interested in him, but the moment I started to play with his and Kero's relationship, and to draw them together, it was pretty obvious. The moment i realized Kero liked Idia was when I drew the Igni trio in that Star sending event art, with Kero carrying an embarrassed Idia.

It just felt natural, like Kero himself said "I like him, and you should like him too!!". When I create stuff and characters mostly, sometimes they build themselves up and I go along with it, so with all the paralelism and references from the myths, it had to be like that. Kero really made me love Idia and Ortho and Ignihyde, because he loves them, tbh. 

So if we talk inside the actual story, Kero started to crush on Idia naturaly, he starts to feel things for him because Idia brings him joy and calmness, it feels good to be near him. He finds him cute and pretty, but most importantly, Kero feels like he belongs there (I am gonna stop from saying more specific stuff about their backstories cause we still need epsiode 6!). It starts as a friendship where idia takes his time getting used to his presence and personality, but realizes Kero is the most loyal person he ever met, and maybe he doesnt understand most of the times why he choosed him as "a best friend" wich sometimes it feels a onsided feeling, but he appreciates a lot that Kero stays there, no matter what.

In Heracles' last job, after taking Cerberus to the outside world to probe he completed his last mission, Cerberus is freed finally and runs back to Hades' side because there is where he has to be, at home. I really would love to depict this as a reference sometime in the future.

Okay wait a second... I know it been a while since I’ve played Epsiode Ignis, but I don’t recall Pryna showing up and giving Ignis a vision of the future???

Cause that means there’s a canon reason for him knowing about Noctis’s sacrifice before the end.

Maybe I’m going mad.

Anyway, I’m still going with my headcanon that Ignis knew for a long time about what Noctis was going to be facing. Because it would explain a few quiet comments I hear Ignis say in-game that Gladio and Prompto kind of give him a “????” comment/look for. Cause neither of them know.
