Botan Valley National Park,Siirt, Türkiye 🇹🇷
Botan is a tributary of the Tigris River.
It also refers to a historical region covering the Şırnak region.
It covers Şırnak, Siirt, the East of Mardin and the Batman Region.
It takes its name from the Botan Principality in the past.
Socrates' student, Xenophon, talked a lot about the river in his work called Anabasis (Return of the Ten Thousand), which he wrote in 400 BC.
Most of it is within the borders of Siirt.
Presidential Decree No. 1421, Republic of Turkey No. 30859. The national park, which was declared on 15 August 2019 with its publication in the Official Gazette, has geographical and historical importance.
