the webcomic scene growing and thriving is great and all but god damn it’s like every comic has to be like. 100% professional now, I remember when I first got into webcomics things were like allowed to be goofy for like the first 200 or so pages, nowadays it’s like… I’ll see ppl start their comic and produce massive illustrations every single panel and then they just stop because they’ve burnt themselves out trying to match art standards made by people with teams and a bunch of money

#also a lot of newer artists are discouraged from having a style of their own it makes me so fucking sad #so many stories won’t get told because we all try to be perfect from the start #the joy about making AND consuming comics is to see the growth in not only the characters #but the art and writing too <3 #im glad chevy and I are taking the time to have a really good script and outline n stuff because #trust us SYS! is NOWHERE the mess it used to be #but god most of the time I spend worrying my art isn’t good enough is time I coulda spent learning new things #boh #if this is a reminder 2 myself and others that not everything needs to be mad polished #esp with webcomics #this is a labor of love #and it’s better to do it and move on than obsess o er what could be

If you want to find the most wildly hateful internalized misogynists then look no further than the comments section on any shoujo/romance comic.

#so interesting how much some of these girls hate the fl for literally no reason than the crime of not being a blank slate to project onto #its especially obvious on webcomics with ml that are drawn excessivly attractive #like its a strange equation....#the more hot a ml is the more hated the fl is #esp annoying when like i see comments before i read that are like /UGH!!! she is so ANNOYING always whining!!/#so i expect her to be like that but then shes not #like she actually quite strong and mature and a but bratty but otherwise not whiny #and she only actually cries in one chapter and its a pretty valid reason to cry #and its like hmmmmm...... maybe we didnt read the same comic just now #personal

I love taking little vacations in fandoms. like it’s not a fandom you have the intent of really dedicating yourself to, but you take a few days and really tour what they’ve got going on. read some fics and webcomics and au tags, etc. get a ‘best of’ glance and the pure Enthusiasm they’ve got going on w like a. ‘this isn’t for me I think, but i like watching you have a good time w it’ mindset. 10/10 highly recommend, great enrichment

#it works best imo w fandoms you’re somewhat familiar with and/or more simple fandoms #esp if you focus on like. micro fandoms? little subjects focusing on a few Little Parts of canon #like those pokemon train twins!!#you don’t need to know a Lot to GET IT but now you can explore the wild things they’ve done to their cervixes #tbh if you can find like. 2-3 Unhinged ppl making full webcomics and/or ask blogs for their au then you’ve Hit The Ticket #other example would be ace attorney for me (bc there’s more a fandom focus on characters than the direct gameplay/cases)#(and Enough og the main cast is already Understood thru tumblr cultural osmosis it makes learning the rest less of a Task)#anyway!!!!! gettin real into mario and luigi at the moment

Trying to find gay content online when you're a gay dude most of what you find is just

-Blatant stereotypes all over the fucking place

-Very clearly fetish content about gay men made by and for straight women (usually also full of stereotypes)

-Consent is nowhere to be found

-About children (usually highschoolers but still very clearly underage) but still has nsfw content for some reason

-Cheating tropes all over the place

-The ones that are actually good but have been abandoned

finally done lining my comic (well ok theres 1 page left but its extremely simple its basically just some straight lines so i just havent bothered yet lol) and im v proud of myself for finally getting there but now i have to. do the color. and im gonna die lol

#97 #atm im just separating the color areas into diff layers but its v tedious and not fun of a process #im trying to get it done for all of the pages first so that the coloring process can be faster but it suuucks #im basically doing it in 10 min bursts bc its so annoying to do..#thankfully its not that long im already 11 pages in lol #i could get it done like. today but i dont wanna force myself to work on this too much so i dont get too pissed abt my own comic #++ i actually do not rly feel like doing art rn i think im gonna take a bit of a break and just hang out for a bit..#but anyway umm i actually have never done a comic this long before and idk how long its gonna take me to get the colors done?#esp since usually when i make comics its b&w or monochrome so. ??#well see... in any case this rly makes it clear to me that the webcomic im planning needs to be in b&w #otherwise i simply will not be able to put out pages at a decent rate #BUT ANYWAY it took me like months to line 26 pages so im just happy thats done!!!#again tho i was like. not excited abt lining this or enjoying it rly so thats why it took so long lol
