So initially, while reading this, frankly I thought Eoleo’s words only had to do with the Royal Family being related to ancient witches who practiced medicine, therefore not being allowed to learn about magic, since we know by now that laws state that magic and medicine can’t be used together. 

Like every of these rigid laws, I figured witches were adamant about keeping the two separated to avoid another possible era of war. You know, like we’ve been told constantly since the beginning of the series. Yet there is way too much emphasis on the fact that “people” and “witches” are considered two separate entities. 

Then, rereading ch57, I noticed that...

Estheath reveals something rather curious, which is that the ones who enforce the laws about magic aren’t necessarily the ones who thought them up. 

So could it be that those rigid laws with no place for exception are not up to the current witches’ community at all?

Could it be that it’s something passed down since the era of war (as spells? or curses?) and witches have to respect them with no exception (which is why the Knights Moralis are so harsh), otherwise the magic community will risk something terrible? More than war befalling the world again, something like... the disappearance of magic altogether? 

Could there be somewhere a relation to the fairytale from ch47?

We’ve been told when encountering the King and the 5 monarchs that Witches aren’t subjects of the King, but have to help a lot with everything except for man-made disasters. So if magic were to disappear from the world, because witches don’t respect these “laws”, wouldn’t it simply lead to a great era of misery for the Zoza peninsula? 

I honestly can’t be sure but the dreadful fact that the Brim Hats very much want to meet with the King makes me think that there will be a bigger disaster than medicine meets magic if they’re allowed to success...

I also can’t help but remember that Qifrey exiled himself from his peers and officially we... don’t really know why? 

It would be easy to think that this has to do with his quest of revenge against the Brim Hats but... maybe there is more to it than that? 

TL;DR maybe the Brim Hats don’t just want to erase the clear distinction that exists in-universe between “people” and “witches” (through Coco’s circumstances, meeting the King, etc). Maybe their goal lies way beyond that and erasing that distinction is just one step towards it.

A lot of mysterious aspects to this arc and the fact that Sensei takes her time addressing this from different points of view makes me rather worried for what she has planned next... ^^" can’t wait

“I thought you just wanted to see the decoration out on the street,” your fiancé groaned, though his eyes softened when he heard your laughter.

“Well, Satoru-kun did invite us, so it´s only polite to bring a gift. And besides, don´t think I didn´t notice you sneaking in presents for the students earlier.”

Nanami clicked his tongue and looked away, but you could see a light blush covering his cheeks.

“My cheeks are red because of the cold, (Y/N),” he warned when he noticed the amused glint in your eyes.

“Sure they are.”

He huffed.

You smiled at him. Half his face was hidden beneath a thick woollen scarf, ears dusted in red by the cold peeking out the deep blue of the fabric.

“I think he mentioned last time that he wanted to visit that place,” Nanami grumbled, effectively pulling you out of your musings to follow his finger pointing at a small café offering foreign sweets.

“Oh, this looks very comfortable,” you said, peering in through the windows. “Should we make a reservation for three? Satoru-kun has a week off soon, right? When was that again? Well, I´m sure he´ll enjoy visiting the café with you.”

Your fiancé sighed, but you could see a soft glimmer in his eyes as he took your hand and led you to the door.

“Yeah, I´m sure he´ll like that.”

He had brought you to a place from which you could see the city from above. You felt like you were looking at a field of stars – the faraway chimes of bells from the town festival in time with their glow. Snow had started to fall mere hours ago, and so there was a veil of white covering the land surrounding you two. 

“Here.”

You turned around, smiling at the sound of his soft voice, and took the warm cup he was offering you from his hands.

“Thank you, my love,” you whispered, before blowing into the cup to cool the drink down a little bit.

“Of course,” he murmured as he sat down beside you, careful not to bump into you. You giggled softly.

“Why are you so careful?”

His eyes widened and he blushed.

“I don´t want to disturb you.”

“You could never disturb me,” you laughed, pulling him closer to you. A gasp escaped his lips, but he settled down, holding you gently against his body.

Your eyes caught sight of his left hand and you picked it up. Gently, you started to play with his fingers, fascinated with the way the silver band looked against his pale skin. After a while he hummed, taking your hand and raising it to his lips. He pressed a delicate kiss to where silver met your skin.

“Thank you, for being here with me, (Y/N),” he whispered.

You only smiled and nuzzled deeper into his embrace.

Ok, little thing that made me crack up during my reread. This panel appears at the end of chapter 47 as the Knights come to escort the three Sages. Right afterwards (chapter 48), Lagler introduces himself to Estheath as the new Sage of Friendship.

Except Engendill is right there. Like, right there, behind Lagler. And later in the chapter he’s clearly dumbfounded about being detained, and Beldaruit points out they had to lock him up in the castle where no magic can be cast. So either it’s a continuity error (which seems unlikely), or the scene goes:

Lagler : Hi, new Sage of Friendship here, I hope we’ll be besties <3

Engendill : new wHAT *immediately gets decked by Vinanna*
