The Church of St. George - Lalibela, Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Also known as Bete Giyorgis, is one of the most iconic structures in Lalibela, Ethiopia. Carved entirely out of solid rock in the 12th century, it is part of a complex of eleven rock-hewn churches in Lalibela, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The church is renowned for its unique cross-shaped design and is considered a masterpiece of Ethiopian architecture and religious art.

It is a significant pilgrimage site for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians and attracts visitors from around the world due to its historical and cultural importance.

Can you write an alphabet headcannon where king Baldwin VI’s wife is a “gentile” Christian from Ethiopia 🇪🇹 ❤️she’s young and beautiful but because of her culture she wears dresses that are more revealing then what they wear in Jerusalem (showing her arms and shoulders, and her dress shows more of her chest)😱 and she has a much louder, bolder, and confident, stubborn personality than Jerusalem women, and she wears Ethiopian Jewelry, like big bead necklaces, bracelet, and a headpiece sometimes. How would Baldwin react if someone was making racist comments about her? If someone said she looks like a whore? If someone mocked her or disrespected her and her culture? A/N: Hello Anon! Thank you for your request, this is such a lovely idea. I hope this is what you had in mind, I just decided to do an SFW alphabet headcanons list. I really enjoyed making this as well. As always, this is based on the film Kingdom Of Heaven, not the real historical figures.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

He is very affectionate. Despite his anxiety about you contracting his illness, he can't help but show you much affection. He loves holding your hand in public to show the world how much he adores you. In private he is never more than a few inches away from you at all times. As long as he is touching you in some way, he couldn't be happier.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

He would be a very kind friend. Always willing to offer advice and provide you with comfort when needed. Very generous too.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Although Baldwin adores cuddling you, he gets nervous about you contracting his illness. You make sure to reassure him that as long as the two of you are careful, then it will be okay. Eventually he can't help but give in. After a long and strenuous day, all he can think about is falling into your arms. His favorite way to cuddle would be laying his head against your chest as your hands stroked his hair, especially at night. The sound of your heartbeat under his ear combined with your gentle touch puts him to sleep in minutes. 

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Well, he is a king so he doesn't have to do any cooking or cleaning! But if he could have anything in the world, it would be to settle down with you and have children. He knows this is not possible due to his disease and it hurts him so much that he can not provide you with a beautiful family. Occasionally, he even has daydreams about running away with you to a far away land and living the rest of his life with nobody but you.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He would never leave you. He could never leave you. He just loves you too much for that, it would absolutely break him to not be with you.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

From the moment he met you he wanted to marry you. You were so different to the women of Jerusalem, so bold, so confident. You just stood out from every woman he had ever met, it was love at first sight. Even your clothing was perfect. It was less covering and slightly more revealing, with exposed shoulders and arms. This did not bother him at all, he was intrigued by both you and your culture. You were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, his eyes did not leave you for the entire day. He wanted to ask for your hand in marriage right there and then.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Baldwin is a very gentle soul. He tries his best to keep up a facade of strength, but in your arms he can finally allow himself to be vulnerable. Physically, he is so incredibly gentle with you. He holds you as though you are a beautiful flower with delicate petals. Each touch is so soft and loving.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Honestly I think he would only accept hugs from you. You are the only person he wants any kind of physical closeness with. He is also probably slightly touch starved from not much physical contact when he was a child after his diagnosis for fear of somebody contracting his illness. So your willingness to let him hug you is something he cherishes.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

The night of your wedding. But he loved you from the first day he met you.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Even though he knows envy is a sin, he can't help but be jealous when other men look at you. It happens quite often as most men of Jerusalem are not used to seeing a woman's arms or upper chest exposed, but as much as he hates seeing men look at you like you are an object, he could never force you to change your traditional clothing style.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

He is far too scared of you getting ill to kiss you. Especially on the lips. As much as he craves the sensation of your lips on his, he knows that it's just far too risky. He loves it when you kiss him on the forehead or the cheek of his mask though. Even though he can’t feel it, the simple gesture is enough to make him melt. Sometimes you sneak him kisses on his exposed, bandaged forehead when he is sleeping though. He would panic if he knew that you were at risk so you don't tell him.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He is great with children, especially his nephew. He wants more than anything to have children with you. The thought of raising a family with you is everything to him. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Usually, you both wake up at around the same time. Pretty early. He loves waking up to you stroking his hair or rubbing his back. You both enjoy breakfast in your chambers for quality time before going out to attend to your separate duties.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Baldwin seems more like a morning person than a night owl to be honest. Most nights, he will be the first to fall asleep, either with you reading to him or just telling him about your day. Falling asleep to the sound of your beautiful voice is one of the best parts of the day. 

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

It takes him a little bit to open up. Because of the standard for men to be very tough, he believes he needs to be strong for you. You reassure him that he can talk to you about anything and you could not possibly love him less or see him differently because of it.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Baldwin is a very patient man and you are no exception to this. It takes a lot to get him angry.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Of course he remembers everything you tell him. Every little detail about your likes, your dislikes, about your childhood, your culture. He loves listening to you talk as well, he could listen to you talk passionately about something forever.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Your wedding day. Finally being able to be alone with you was the best moment of his life. Finally being able to call you his wife was just perfect.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Baldwin is not excessively protective but he is still protective. He always insists a royal guard accompany you if you go out alone, just for your protection. He can't bear the thought of anything bad happening to you.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

The effort is everything. There is not a length this man would not go to for you. He often sends people to purchase jewelry from your home country as gifts. Flowers, jewelry, clothing. Only the finest for you.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Probably his constant fear that you will leave him for a stronger, healthier man. A man whose body does not fail him at every possible moment, a man strong enough to protect you with his own hands. He knows that your beauty makes it possible to attract any man you wish and he still finds it confusing that you chose to accept his marriage request. He will never say this out loud to you. He just thinks it and as much as he tries to hide it, you can tell when he is thinking about it. You reassure him constantly that you could never love another and he is beyond grateful for that.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He is more concerned about keeping himself covered. Especially in front of you, it took him a little while to be fully confident without his mask around you. Even with the bandages, he still feels as if you could do far better than him and always tries to look his best. You assure him that he is all you could ever want and that he is perfect just the way he is, even with his illness. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Absolutely. Whenever you are away from him, he feels like he is missing a piece of his body. You complete him in every way. The two of you are almost complete opposites personality wise and he loves it. You have such a vibrant, loud and fun personality while he is far calmer and quieter, but he adores it. His life would be so boring without you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He thinks your jewelry is beautiful. He has never seen anything quite like it. He thinks you look stunning in the large necklaces and bracelets you wear. Especially your headpieces, they are just gorgeous with the gold complementing your skin and hair perfectly.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Honestly, I don't think there is anything he could possibly not like about you. You are so perfect for him. But something he does NOT stand for is anybody making hurtful comments about you. Whether it be racially motivated, something about the way you dress or even about your bold personality, he despises it. He would happily put anybody who said something rude to you in their place, it doesn't matter who it is. He even wishes that his body was stronger so he could fight physically to defend you. 

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Personally I think Baldwin twitches like mad in his sleep (has anybody seen those TikTok’s of girls with their boyfriends saying that they just randomly jerk in their sleep? Yeah that's him). You will just both be sleeping comfortably then out of nowhere his body will just jerk. He also snores a little but you find it cute.

luffy - indigenous on both sides. so afro native samoan-brazilian. i stand by that forever. polynesian luffy real 🇼🇸🇧🇷. malagasy too. historically malagasy people are austronesian relatives as well anyway (malayo-polynesian) 🇲🇬

nami - thai-swedish. she’s ethnically fully thai, but when bellmere found her and nojiko, she took them to her hometown in sweden to be raised. im a firm believer in southeast asian nami 🇹🇭🇸🇪
