Woo hoo, a menage! Having met our hounds in the previous book in the series, they did not disappoint in their pursuit of their woman. Lots of mystery, interesting main and side characters, steamy times, and action and fights, really, what more could we ask for 😊

Snowflake Book Review’s
Title: Princess of Hell #2 Snowballs in Hell
Author: Eeve Langlais
Pages: 230
Snowflake Rating:❄❄❄❄(4/5)
Synopsis:Hi, I’m Muriel, misbegotten daughter of Satan, and once again, my life is in turmoil. The cowled one who tortured me left a curse on my mind, one that makes me afraid. Completely unacceptable, but in order to remove it, I have to do something even worse—betray my beloved by bringing another man into our bed. As if having to participate in a threesome isn’t traumatizing enough, Hell has frozen over, and as much as I think Hades looks pretty in a blanket of white, the repercussions are severe. It’s a good thing this princess of Hell has two lovers determined to charge my magic in pleasurable ways. I'll admit it's not easy having nympho magic, but I’m prepared to suck it up—and swallow—for the sake of saving the world.

S03.52: Assassins and Hitmen in Romance Interstitial
Surprising absolutely no one, we love an assassin here at Fated Mates! We basically love any character who has been through the wringer and also can kill a man fourteen different ways before dinner. Even better if it’s a heroine, and she’s been hired to kill the hero (or vice versa). Anyway, we’re talking about why these books (and so! many! movies!) scratch that particular itch for us.
Spoiler: It’s beautiful people blowing things up, obvi.

Victorian Vampire AU
●She knew she should be horrified. He had killed someone for just touching her. But, and she might burn in hell for thinking this, she thought it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her. In a perverted way, she also found it romantic. She finally had someone who wanted to protect her. My very own vampire in dark armor.● — Eve Langlais, Crazy (Crazy Ella in Love, #1)
— Almost nothing can stop a vampire when he is in search of his bride. And nothing can stop him when he finds a perfect one. —

I’m so determined to read some of the books I already own before buying my next new book series (mostly because there are so many I want to buy lmao!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are just some of what I want to read over the next month … and this is the shortened list lmao !!!
Dragon Heat - Charlene Hartnady knows how to write very hot & sweet romance that makes me want to read EVERYTHING by her ❤️
Hollen The Soulless has been in my library for so long. It’s not usually my thing but I’m determined to give this a try !!
Crown Of One Hundred Kings - this I think will be a very interesting fantasy read. I don’t know a lot about this book but I’m excited to try this.
Star Mother - this was in my TBR for a little while but I really, really liked the blurb so went and bought it immediately lol !!!
Mist Rising - this is by Eve Langlais who is an author I have read and loved for nearly two decades. Her books aren’t super deep or complicated but she writes paranormal romance so fucking good that it’s like going home and I have no doubt I’m going to love this as much as her other stories.
Bow Before The Elf Queen- I bought this a week ago maybe? Idk I read it at the wrong time I think because it bored me a little but I wanna re-try this because I’ve heard amazing things and feel like I could love this!!
Dragon Heartstring - This seems like it could be a super interesting fantasy read and I need more of this in my life !!
Pathways - like “Dragon Heartstring” I hadn’t even heard of this but finding it on audible it looks super interesting in terms of fantasy and I could see me being obsessed with this one !!
Soulbound - So I read this book in one setting a while back but I’m tempted to re-read this for my blog and continue the series. Plus it has a beautiful setting, elves, a cute strong fmc that isn’t rude & mean lmao.
House Of Ash & Shadow - this has been on my TBR for monthsssss. A very long time before I even bought this. I haven’t even picked this up yet so I plan on picking this up soon because I can’t wait to read this one. TY KU.

from Eve Langlais' "Jane Davey's Locket"
>Sometimes, dealing with my grandmother could confuse. One minute, she made pot cookies and wore halter tops with hoop earrings. The next, she acted like G-strings were the most sinful thing ever. Which didn’t explain the drawerful she kept.<
>“You could try to be nice, you know. It’s not that hard.”
“That would involve talking to people. Not a fan of it.”
“You talk to me,” Grandma pointed out. “Because someone needs to say ‘no’ to you once in a while.”<
>“Aren’t we going to hang together?” I asked.
“I love you Janey Waney, but you need to make some friends and loosen up. Because I will be, and I can’t have you cramping my style.”<
lol, I feel very resonant with this protagonist

Book Review for When a Beta Roars
Tumblr media
Oh come on – we all knew I was reading this book after I raved about book 1 and I LOVED it! I knew I would after Hayder was introduced in When the Alpha Purrs. Paranormal romance is not my thing but Eve Langlais writing is!
Hayder and Arabelle’s chemistry is off the charts but her being allergic to him just made the whole situation hysterically funny! He was also one determined kitty! To the point that it was borderline aggressive but then when her wolf side would kick in, you realized they were made for each other! Their back and forth was insane (Hayder’s quick wit and dirty comebacks are surreal). Add in the lionesses that have her back and you couldn’t help but enjoy the book.
Like the first book, the heartbreaking undertone of Arabelle’s abusive marriage and losing her wolf shaped the story. You could feel her loss and pain and just wanted her to feel safe and find herself again. Only the second book in the series and I am hooked. I swear I giggle every time I read “Rawr!” but it is worth it!

My top reads of 2023
I honestly have reached a point where I read books from the same authours, either to get through their back lists, or keep up with their new releases. I still try out someone new, but it doesn’t happen as much as it used to. That was a factor when I went to figure out my top reads of 2023, there were several books by the same authours that I loved, so I decided I had to pick my favourite
There is quite a selection here: fantasy, MM, DD/lg, womens lit, fake dating, hockey, alien angels, and former service men. They deal with prejudice, abuse, addiction, homophobia, disabilities, and PTSD. Not all were new releases, some had been on my TBR, and made it out this year. They were the stories that stuck with me, brought me into their world and took me along with them, the ones that made me remember and think about the characters long after the I finished. It wasn’t easy wheedling this list down, I started with over 20, but I ended up with these eight because I was immediately drawn back to them time and time again. So, in no particular order, my top reads of 2023
The Rising by Kristen Ashley. I am crying just thinking about this book as I write this. This is a fantasy read, a four book story arc that ends with The Rising, the name of the series. It follows 4 couples, destined to be together, to save the world. It has a rich and full cast of characters, and even more, side characters that are just as important as our couples. I listened to it on audible, and each character has their own narrator, with one narrator for the common story threads. Alternating POV’s, flawed and broken, proud and strong, this whole cast will take you through a myriad of emotions and situations. The audiobooks are only on audible, but the ebooks are available everywhere and in Kobo Plus
The Tragedy of Felix and Jake by J Daniels. Don’t let the title turn you away, this is a heart wrenching story of two addicts, trying to keep their lives together, while falling for each other. It was smart, it was sexy, and it ran the gamut of emotions more than once. It didn’t shy away from the struggles and pain, and the joy and the fun, that life alternately gives to you, and depending on where you are, how it affects you. Ebook available in KU
Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield. Kicking myself on this one, because I had it on my TBR forever, and when I finally dove in, I completely understood what all the fuss was about that I heard for years! This is a workplace romance. This is a journey of self-acceptance for both our hero and heroine, and the DD/lg dynamic they crave. Add in their age gap, family drama, and possible conditioning elements, and there was a lot for them to unpack, know themselves, and accept their desires. I listened to this with Kobo Plus (with Australian actors narrating), and both the ebook and audio books are available everywhere and in Kobo Plus
The Sunshine Girls by Molly Fader. When Molly writes a story, I know she is taking me on a journey. This book covers the friendship between two women, who take very different paths in life, yet, stay connected throughout it all. It consumed me, my thoughts, my feelings, and all my moments while I was listening to it, and, long after I finished. Not only do we get our two friends, we get the daughters of one of them, as they try to figure out the connection and why they didn’t know about the friendship. Available everywhere in ebook and audio
Three to Get Ready by Skye Warren. This is the third book in a trilogy, and what made it stand out for me was that everything wasn’t wrapped up in a neat “life is wonderful” bow when it ended. There is an HEA, there are two people deeply in love and living life, it is just life has some adjustments and situations as a chronic disease is part of the package. Over the course of the three books, which starts with fake dating, we learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of our characters, as the maneuver in uncharted waters. Audiobook available at audible and ebook in KU
I’m Your Guy by Sarina Bowen. The irony of this book, featuring a gay hockey player, is it came out during the real-life ban of pride tape in the NHL. This book highlighted the homophobia the LGBTQ2+ players would be presented with, and the scariness, of being able to be who you are, in those conditions. Our main character has hidden who he is all his life, conditioned by his family and society, to not rock the boat. It doesn’t mean he wasn’t abused, ridiculed, or mocked, he just learned to accept it. His outside persona doesn’t match his inner turmoil, which skewers peoples perceptions. When he can’t hold back his feelings or actions, he becomes even more conflicted. Loved how it worked through it all, without fanfare or comment, just deciding to live his life. Audiobook available at audible, ebook available everywhere and in Kobo Plus
Elija by Eve Langlais. I love how Eve can take preconceived notions of religion and turn it on its’ head! Her space angels series, Elyon’s Warriors, is a serious take on that, with devoted angels to heavens cause, with a twist. Elija was the one book that I loved a little bit more than the rest, though they all were on my top list. For a bit of a paranormal/alien/angel story, with all of our angels finding love with a human woman, you need to check this series out! Ebooks and audiobooks available everywhere. Ebooks in Kobo Plus and audiobook available in Everand
Deserving Henley by Susan Stoker. The series, The Refuge, is all about having a safe place for people suffering from PTSD to go and be themselves. Deserving Henley takes one of the owners who is the most reclusive, and letting him be himself. That was what made the book for me, he didn’t need to change, he just needed to have a life that worked for him. Audiobook available at audible and ebook available everywhere and in Kobo Plus

Growing up as the daughter of Satan, yes that Satan, Muriel is a little odd. Odd in that she’s still a virgin. Odd in that she truly believes in love. And odd in that all she really wants is a normal life. To that end, she’s managed to scrimp and save to where she owns her own bar, Nexus, that is quite literally the nexus of where the supernatural like to hang out and have a drink or two. Enter Auric. He’s the kind of growly grumpy hottie to make any woman interested in men get a little hot under the collar. But in a good way. He is mysterious. Secretive. And way too interested in Muriel. But before she can figure him out everything goes to hell, quite literally. And not in a good way…
Tumblr media
I have to admit I am a sucker for a good angels and demons story. I like the dichotomy between good and evil and how they intersect. This story was fun. Muriel has a strong character voice and she’s snarky and sarcastic and reminded me in a lot of ways of Cordelia from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As the daughter of Satan, she doesn’t have quite the same social mores and hangups, which I liked. Frankly she was fun! It took me a little while to warm up to Auric. But I found myself liking him and I especially found myself liking the posse that he runs around with, particularly David and Christopher. I hope they continue to show up in future books. As for Auric himself, he’s definitely a grumpy, brooding boy and I really got Angel/Cordelia vibes from the two of them.
Tumblr media
The side characters of Bambi, one of Muriel’s sisters, and Lucifer her father are also fun. (Look, I always like a good Devil is bad but also has soft spots story... there’s a reason I like Lucifer and The Incarnations of Immortality.)
The plot is fairly thin, it’s not bad. But it’s thin and predictable. Like most procedurals, TBH. The book is also short-ish... about 150pages. So that’s why it feels like such a quick read... it is. But honestly, the book is mostly about the romance between Auric and Muriel, and frankly, that’s just fine. This is a very quick sexy read. The kind of thing that if you’re looking for fun and sensual and silly would be the perfect book. I went into this with zero expectations, and I was heartily entertained. I’m also interested in continuing with the series when it starts becoming more Reverse Harem (it isn’t yet). And for that I give this... Five stars.

Defying Pack Law by Eve Langlais
Tumblr media
Series: Pack, #1 Read time: 1 Day Rating: 3.5/5
The quote: The pup’s face went slack with astonishment—only for a moment. Then male arrogance—also known as the dumbass syndrome—once again took over. —Dana
Warnings: Toxic masculinity is a real thing, noncon, dubcon.
Alright this is a strange little book. If you can get through the first chapter you can get through the book. While aspects of it are funny there are also problems with characters. Toxic masculinity is a real thing, noncon, dubcon.  And just unintentionally hilarious writing. Aspects of it feel like they were written by a man if you've ever read those social media posts.
It deals with a baseness this isn't inherent to paranormal writing that perhaps should be, werewolves have an animalistic base I feel like that needs to be respected more in the writing, yeah we are reading paranormal romance but please respect the lore. This feels like werewolves done properly. Violence and death. Their women are not weak. That said everything feels a little misbalanced, the relationships between the characters, the plot and the strength of the wolves in the men.
Dana is older than your average romance novel protagonist, she's 30 and all but a virgin. Played audience to years of domestic abuse in a menage setting where all 3 men were awful. We see Dana kill in self-preservation and vengeance. Some of her decisions were seriously questionable to my eyes, some are justified by her were nature some there wasn't even an attempt. Her status as a survivor? That could have been used better.
Her men are different. I don't know what to say about them. Nathan is her first love, he saves her from one of her greatest fears. He comes across as a bit of a creep. It's the Alpha thing.  The whole "caught you" is supposed to be endearing... it's really really not. Also dude leash your wolf, if you can't control that you don't deserve her. I really disliked him like I wanted to stop reading he was so bad, his actions were awful. John is Nathan's best friend and the pack doctor. I like him. He's calming and accepting of her past and experiences. John and his family really could have been used better. I know this is only 170p long but there was an opportunity there for a supportive matriarchal figure a sign that it can work, happiness is the norm, not the exception. Possibly would have been better than Dana and her base nature. Kody, Kody is the fun, flippant, young cutie. Kody is the youngest I suspect by a bit though age is not really discussed.  He's new to the pack, calls Dana darling all the time and is just a joy. Of all the characters to use the correct term for the relationship (polyamory) it's Kody.  It kinda feels out of character. But heh I can roll with it. He was an early fave and my RH type. That type that is specific to RH and that I can pick from the first chapter we meet them in. In all honesty, the story focuses so much on Dana and Nathan and Nathan and John's relationships feel a bit misbalanced like Kody was an addition for the sake of it not well thought out.
I really didn't hate this but I didn't love it. I there is some positive elements and it has great promise but I couldn't escape into it all I saw was what could have been improved. The type of werewolves that are being written will not be for everyone nor is this for those with a history of domestic violence. Read it at your own peril, the blurb does not do a great job of explaining the risks.

The Marked by Eve Langlais
Tumblr media
Content Warnings: Sexual scenes, violence, classism, gun violence, slavery, sexual assault, attempted rape, and loss of body autonomy. Mention of: forced pregnancies, rape, and genocide.
Tumblr media
That's my first thought upon completing this story.
Tumblr media
The beginning had me fully committed...I thought we were getting a book with divided classes that also had a rebellion intent on making the world a better place. I was excited to see the world through our main character's eyes as she realizes the injustice of the world she's grown up in and that she would join and aid the rebellion to help form a better path for all. What we end up getting is a disgusting rebellion leader who only seeks to take down the powers that be so that he can be the power. There was no altruistic motive on his part he's merely enraged that he was demoted and now seeks to be the ultimate power as is due him *hard eye roll*
This story had so much potential and it just felt wasted...by the end although we now believe our main character is with a truly good man and that he's making changes to their society to improve all lives, not just the lives of those above ground BAM the author throws us a curveball that in fact, he is one of the ultimate powers that put this entire social structure in place. In truth, he is one of the powers that caused a major wipe of most of the world's population and is himself immortal.
I really thought I was going to love this story going in and I was just left completely disapointed.
