When you walked into Cruella’s house, using your own key (You were meant to surprise her. It was supposed to be nice!), and heard her talking to Le Pelt on the phone in her office, you were so shocked. And so was she, when she left her office and saw you there in the hallway with a horrified look on your face.
Cruella is non-too-happy about your surprise, that is for sure. As soon as she lays eyes on you and realises what you just heard, she is so frustrated. Now you’re going to make this a thing, damnit. You’re probably going to try to leave her- all because you acted stupid and tried to surprise her. Ugh! … now darling, don’t lose your little head over this, they’re just some puppies, after all- When you immediately turn and storm back towards the front door again, chucking your key at a hallway table, Cruella wouldn’t move. She wouldn’t run after you; She’s not the type. But the frustration in her voice would build and she’d give up trying to be calm and careful with you, yelling after your retreating form. When you walked into the throne room and saw Hades holding Meg up off the ground precariously by her throat, and you heard him say something about taking over Olympus and Hercules- and Hades noticed you standing there horrified and disgusted- everything stopped.
Hades would know immediately that he fucked up. That you would have a hard time forgiving him- if you ever did at all. He would know.
Hades would be desperate. He’d be pathetic, true slimy used-cars-salesman style; Following you as you storm out of the room and down the hall to your room and begging you all the way. Offering you things which fast develop from foot rubs and chocolate coated strawberries to being Master of the Gods- Master of the World- Master of whatever you want! He tries to convince you that this is a good thing, that he’s doing it for you, so you two can be happy together.
This is all while you’re grabbing your most important things and throwing them into a sack, throwing him poisonous glares because how dare he even look at you right now that make him flinch and be quiet. If only for a second. Overall, the man cannot stop talking.
I love you, babe, you can’t- No, no, you’re not leaving. I’m not gonna just allow-
Okay okay okay, I get it! I get it, I shouldn’t threaten you right now, I get it. I’m sorry. You- you probably need some time to cool off, yeah?? Hey, that makes sense!! I would be the same, yeah?? When you walked in and heard Jafar and Iago cackling about marrying the princess and hurting the poor Sultan, and they saw you standing there, Iago immediately flew off leaving more matted feathers on Jafar’s shoulder than usual from the force he used to get away so fast.
Jafar groans, brushing the feathers off him and muttering. Meanwhile you’re horrified, disgusted, creeped out- and about a million other awful emotions all at once, but you stand your ground. You lift your chin and you focus on him. You ask, really? Is that true?? Are you- Are you going to do that??? Is that the plan!?
… an eye roll, is the response you get and that make you feel even sicker. How could you??? As Jafar starts to cross the throne room, at his leisure, towards you- you start to completely lose your composure; Panic building. The- The sultan is a good man! He’s been kind. He’s your friend! I- I- I don’t understand! Jafar, I- Please, explain!
He sighs at that idea and rolls his eyes deeply, getting closer, leading with his snake staff as he always does. I already tried that.
Wh- What?
You heard me, Y/N. Now stay still.
You don’t know what he means by that, but you don’t like it, it- he, scares you. So quickly you try to turn and leave the room, leave him, but he’s too close now and his fingers are surprisingly strong; Holding you forcefully right where you are. That staff’s pushed right in front of your face, the snake’s eyes beginning to glow and burn into yours. This won’t hurt at all, my dear…
… This isn’t the first time you’ve walked in, before.

When you walked into the library, seeing one of the new toys tied to the ‘time out’ chair that Lotso told you (No, no. Swore to you) was a joke, you were shocked. And it was dark, so Lotso didn’t see you at first.
Twitch did. But by that point you’d heard too much, eyes wide and furious. Uh… boss?
Uhuh what Twitch? I’m kinda in the middle of something here-

Wha- my- Oh, honey! At first, Lotso tries to act like you don’t even see what’s right in front of you. Like you’re blind. Like you’re stupid. Like he can wash it all away with some papa bear charm and a kind smile- but there is something darker behind it that you see, now. What are you doin’ outta bed, sweetheart?? Its so late! You’ve had a long day. I’ll be with you in just a second, I just… When he realises that your canyon-deep glare isn’t getting any lighter, he lets it go. He lets it all go; All the sweetness and the charm that you knew him for and all that is left is… something cruel. He looks at you in a full deadpan, a cruel and disappointed deadpan that makes you actually feel cold. Physically. Alright, honey, what’d you see?

So you want to ask a turtle out.

Don's an observant guy, so it's not that he's completely shocked that you like him. But to have that suspicion, quiet and dangerous in the back of his mind, confirmed? To have you ask him directly? He's mystified. It's one thing to think he might have a chance, but it's another thing altogether to have a chance handed to him on a silver platter.
So when you catch him in between tasks and offer him a box of chocolates- a brand April had brought down one time and he had mentioned really enjoying and you had somehow remembered, because apparently he wasn't the only observant one here- and smile at him, warm and fond and visibly nervous, he's left blinking at you. Then, apparently taking his pause as a lack of understanding- or just trying to fill the silence, he couldn't be sure- you speak.
"Would you be my Valentine?"
And he's gone. Don.EXE has stopped working, would you like to restart? It's like static in his mind for a beat, two, and suddenly he's nodding quickly and a smile is growing on his face and "Yeah! Yeah, of course- yes. I'd love to."
He shares the chocolate with you, and on his, like, seventh piece, he finally works up the nerve to ask you if you meant "Valentine" like romantically, and your laugh is good-natured enough that he can't even bother to be embarrassed.
"Like romantically, yeah."
"Cool, cool. I thought so, but it's not actually an exclusively romantic term and- interestingly enough there seems to be a rise in platonic usage, I was just reading an article about it the other day-"
He goes on for several minutes. You listen patiently, and right as he's about to apologize for the tangent you ask him a question and he's grinning like an idiot and launching into an answer and it's officially the best Valentine's Day ever, and he's already plotting ways to get you back for it.

Leonardo is, honestly, a little irritated. Not because you asked! No, no, he's elated- ecstatic- about that. He's so happy he doesn't know what do with it all.
But you beat him to it, and that's... it's a little frustrating. The turtle was slow, and he's not the biggest fan of the irony.
He had a plan. He had a whole plan- he finally worked up the nerve to tell you he cared for you (he wasn't willing to say the L word just yet, but he did love you, and it was getting to be too much to ignore), he'd convinced April to get him your favorite chocolate (he'd gathered intel from your "secret" stash at your place, where you kept the good stuff out of Mikey's hands. He had been very stealthy and was more than a little proud of himself and a lot in debt to April- he'd be watching her favorite awful TV shows with her for months), and he'd written you a short poem (and edited, and scrapped, and rewritten said poem) and tied it to the heart-shaped box of sweet goodness with a blue ribbon.
He'd proceeded to convince himself that was a little too much, and swapped the blue for silver.
Leo had rehearsed exactly what he'd say. He knew when he'd do it, where his brothers would be (well out of the way, with a clear unspoken threat of extra patrol and training if they went off-plan), and what he would eat for dinner beforehand so that he had the absolute smallest possible chance of his nerves hijacking his stomach.
And then you show up with forget-me-nots and gardenias tied up in blue ribbon, which. First of all, that explains why you wanted to borrow his book on flower language a few weeks back. Secondly, the message of secret love, true love, respect, and shared history, all tied up in his color? It nearly kills him.
"Leo, would you do me the honor of being my Valentine?"
"Stay right here," He says firmly, dashing off to his bed before he could process your owlish blink. He pulls the chocolate box out from underneath it and rushes back, smiling sheepishly at the way your concern immediately melts into fond amusement. "Only if you'll be mine."
"Deal," You laugh, trading him the fragrant bouquet for the heart-shaped box, and he busies himself with inspecting and smelling the flowers while you read his poem.
At the end of the day, he earns himself a hug, a kiss on the cheek, and a Valentine, so maybe you asking wasn't really the issue he thought it was.

Mikey beats you to asking.
He asks you a week ahead of time, and it's a real splashy affair- he goes all out, pestering April into helping him get all kinds of candy and a big, orange stuffed bear with a heart in its little paws and a pink basket big enough for all of it. He begs his brothers and father to give him the living room of the lair for the evening, and even agrees to do Raph's chores for a week and a half in exchange. He sets the basket up on the couch, tries out about three hundred different combinations of the million lights littering the lair to create the perfect "romantic and intimate but not too suggestive but not too dark but not too bright" ambience, and absolutely agonizes over the playlist of easy, romantic R&B.
He's the one to greet you at the metaphorical front door of the lair and guide you into the living room, and when you look at him quizzically- and hopefully, he notes with delight- he takes your hands and a deep breath.
"Angel, would you be my Valentine?"
"Dammit, Mikey..." You grumble, and if it weren't for the grin you were biting back and the way you were squeezing his hands like you never wanted to let go, he'd be pretty damn scared right about now. "I was gonna ask you. I had a whole plan."
"You can still ask me later, gorgeous," He says with a big grin of his own. "I'll totally act surprised."
"How kind."
"That's me. Now, uh, you're kinda leavin' me hangin', here."
"I'll happily be your Valentine, Mikey."

Raph was not going to ask. He did not see this coming, did not see your feelings, did not think twice about his plan to spend Valentine's Day like he always did: with extra-buttery popcorn and rom-coms.
His plan was to basically not think about how you'd probably be spending it with someone, happy and laughing and smiling.
No, you hadn't mentioned having plans. No, you'd never mentioned a significant other- or even a love interest. No, neither of those things stopped him from assuming.
So when you waltzed into his space with a knock at the entryway and a big ol' grin, he was preparing himself for a whole ooey-gooey story about whoever had swept you off your feet. Preparing himself to act like that didn't eat him alive.
And apparently the lucky bastard had gotten you flowers, which was not helping.
"Hey, Big Red," You say fondly, leaning against the wall and fiddling with a flower stem and looking like a daydream, and his heart did something funny in his chest. "You busy?"
"Why, wanna gloat about your night?" He asks, fighting to keep his tone in the realm of playful and away from anything bitter and yearning.
"Was hoping to ask you a question, actually."
He hums a question of his own, now thoroughly confused.
"Would you be my Valentine?" You ask, holding the flowers out sweetly.
He, in a brilliant moment of zero filter, says "What the fuck?" and your smile drops the smallest bit and he very seriously considers tossing himself off of the Chrysler building.
You open your mouth, and he launches himself out of bed before you can get a word out, gently pulling the flowers out of your hand.
"Why?" He asks gruffly, very clearly avoiding your gaze as he studies a delicate petal.
"...Because I... have feelings for you?" You half admit, half ask, sounding as confused as he felt and staring at him with wide eyes. "If I've read this wrong-"
"No." He forces- forces- himself to look you in the eye, which lasts all of about a second before he's counting it as a win and looking back at the flowers. "But I'm not sure it's somethin' you should read."
"I'm not sure I asked that."
And he can't argue with that, because he knows the tone in your voice, knows he'd be better off arguing with the wall. But he can question it, because.... well, for a lot of reasons.
He should ask a lot of questions. Like "why?" and "did you hit your head?" and "is this a prank or somethin'?", but all that comes out is "Me?"
It makes you smile for some reason, and you step forward a little and duck into his line of sight and meet his eyes with about three and a half times the sincerity he could handle. "Who else?" You ask simply.
He has about a dozen retorts to that, but with you holding his gaze and heart hostage, he just nods. "Okay."

Love Senior: Final Thoughts
I've been putting off making a post about this because I don't like trashing things that are small efforts and especially not GL because we don't get enough of it to begin with. But I was enjoying Love Senior through episode 7. The leads were lovely, they had chemistry, their characters were both interesting, and one of them had casual sex with someone else before they got together and it was fine! They even talked about it! And they were thirsty! I love it when women get to have sexual desire in shows.
After episodes 8-9, the narrative took a serious turn and I broke and wrote a content warning post because of how gross the turn in the plot was. With one episode left, I watched to see whether it would undo any of the damage it had done, but instead it doubled down on awfulness.
The last episode is truly a smorgasbord of some of my least favourite tropes all rolled up into one miserable finale, and makes the show truly unwatchable even though it delivers a "happy ending". It didn't make sense, it wasn't good characterization, it served nothing but unnecessary angst, and it meant we didn't even get satisfying reconciliation or dealing with the issues laid out in 8-9. After this ending, I was extremely unconvinced these two would last, or that they should.
I know this isn't the worst there is in the world of QL. I've watched a lot of stuff. I used to just stay quiet if I didn't like something, but honestly, I want folks looking for info about this show to know what to expect, and I also want folks creating content to know that audiences expect better these days. I don't want people to think GL flops because nobody wants to watch it. We're so desperate for good, or even half-decent content (the viewing numbers for GAP should have made that obvious)! But things need to hold together at least somewhat, and this very much did not.
Most of the cast in this show is in a girl group together, so you can support them, continue past the cut if you want details on what makes this finale suck (I've kept it vague but obviously there will be spoilers), and I hope this is taken as it's intended--to help inform the watching decisions of us who love GL and want more of it, and to give information to those making it.
[I'm just going to note also that this show was by StarHunter Entertainment which is not known for its queer rep or good treatment of its people, so I don't feel like I owe this production company any loyalty].

In episode 10, the following happens:
we get told the SA that I warned about in my 8-9 post was just staged for the purposes of blackmail/breaking up the leads
[the show doesn't acknowledge that the characters were still left in a position that they could have still been sexually assaulted, and that they were put in that position by someone they trusted]
Someone gets hit by a car
One of the leads falls into a coma, and on waking, gets amnesia
Her friends and family conspire to lie to her, not just erasing her girlfriend from their picture of her life, but saying that one of her other friends who has a crush on her is her boyfriend. They all go along with this lie for months
On finding out that her girlfriend had been told that she's actually dating some other guy, her girlfriend decides to noble idiocy and disappear from her life
More time passes, and they see one another at the amnesia girl's graduation, and hug for a happy ending.
THE END.
No conversation. No reconciliation beyond acknowledgment that they still have feelings. No mention of their breakup before the coma. Nothing that convinces me this couple will actually last at all, or reason (in the form of character growth, or narrative purpose) for why they've gone through this. Nothing about the main character being lied to by all of her friends and family for months. This ending says 'everything is fine as long as the two people you want to be in a relationship are in a relationship at the end of the story', and that doesn't fly with me.

Can you talk about Thelma (2017)?
Thelma is too much for one ask, but I can try. I'm fairly confident there are some specific religious and cultural touchstones I'm not familiar enough to unpack for starters, and the movie itself is so dense with possible readings that I could approach it from at least three separate angles. It's like... where exactly do I start at this?
Just on the most surface level, we're looking at an X-Men situation with the sudden introduction a superhuman ability in someone's life is used to parallel a wide array of different experiences of systemic oppression - I think mainly patriarchal, sexual, and religious but these are all wrapped together in much the same was as they tend to be in individual lives.
What personally gets my heart aflutter over Thelma are its queer elements. Not that these can be neatly separated from the others, but the way it plays with a level of ambiguity in the attraction between the protagonist and her love interest feels especially true to the queer experience of wondering if we're experiencing kind of real mutual attraction, or if we're only seeing things in our imagination - the way queerness is treated as something taboo, even when it's socially permissible, makes finding personal connections a delicate process of hope and guessing. It transforms the relationship elements of the movie seen through that specific lens, including moments where our protagonist is struggling so hard against herself that she tries to make her own sexuality vanish.
But it doesn't operate exclusively as a queer movie, and that's part of why there's just... just so much stuff to try and work through here. I feel like a huge amount of the underlying text of the movie rests on how her capabilities horrify her parents and prompt them to find ways to suppress them, to keep her under control. Additionally, the way she works her way through the medical system as they find themselves at a loss to discern any easy answers to her symptoms. And for that matter, the notion that her supernatural abilities are themselves something wrong with her is also rife with meaning to any disenfranchised group, not just queers or women or non-xians.
I suppose it's a little weird to discuss what I think the movie is about without bringing up... what the movie is about, but there's not a large amount that happens precisely. Or more directly the plot, unadorned, is not particularly complicated. Although I expect if you're hanging around this blog, you might be really interested to learn about a movie which is all about a young woman developing supernatural powers to control reality, and eventually breaking free from her oppressive (albeit loving) xian parents.
Not to sound pretentious, if this was made in the USA, it would be quite a bit more spectacle and flash. Thelma the movie and protagonist both are quiet revolutions, tense with knowing something extraordinary is happening, but not knowing how much will survive it. Some of it put me in mind of Dario Argento, even if it's not quite as flamboyant, there's an emotional intensity and an obsessive focus to the camera work that feels familiar. The colors are not quite as bright and primary as Argento's work, but they feel dense and saturated in the same way. If a movie like X-Men captures the explosive emotions and anger of learning you're different in some way society does not accept, Thelma captures its alternate quite despair and seething rage.
But this all really just gets maybe a little under the surface. I would happily translate the family losing a son to their daughters power as metaphoric to how some families treat their trans children. The ambiguity of the ending, the significance of the birds and snakes as metaphors, the use of symbolic reflections all need greater exploration to the point where this film has a fair thesis worth of material contained within. It's a rare, special, and complicated movie which I would hope everyone takes the time to see (with the exception of people with serious medical concerns over flashing lights, it has A LOT of those). Thelma is about making the decision to burn bright while everyone around you sits with quietly folded hands.

hellooooooo ~ this is nini again with a second character who's definitely a whole 180 approach from jino lol. took me a while to get an intro up because end of the year things kept me busy ! and i was also still trying to figure out how best to explain little miss lili here ~ but nevertheless, we're here now and down below you can get a good idea of this gal who is both bite and bark and will very much prove it !!! but i promise she can be nice even if it comes off haughty and self-serving so please like if you'd like to plot ♡

BACKGROUND
born li yifei, her name was legally changed to xu yifei when she got adopted by her grandmother / it was further changed when she gained dual citizenship through her grandmother when she moved her to los angeles -> now she goes by xu lili
her parents were a love that burned hot but burned out fast kind of relationship
also didn't help that her dad and mom were from starkly different social brackets that when her grandmother strongly opposed the marriage, her mother got disowned and left to be with her husband
but when the marriage ultimately fell apart, in a last ditch effort, they had lili
for a while it worked until the pains of motherhood, marriage and poverty got too much and when she turned 5, her parents divorced: her mother got her and her father got his freedom back — apparently that meant never seeing lili again, too
a year after her divorce, her mother met a new man (richer, older) and started a new family alongside that man’s children from a prev. marriage. by the time she was 7, lili was brought back to her grandmother’s and like her father, that would be the last she’d see of her mother
being adopted by her grandmother was a start to a new life, adapting to a new environment and learning that love wasn’t just given: it was earned
her grandmother was the owner of a real estate investment / development group; a woman of high expectations and most of all, showed love like how she did business: she expected results in return for her nurture
in the case of lili: her grandmother enrolled her into all the best programs, nurtured her love for performing, and expected the excellence that proceeded from the investment
but excellence can only go so far with natural talent, lili had the talent but in comparison to her peers, she didn’t have the it needed to take her far, something she learns when she receives no offers to continue her ballet career
( 2017 ) instead, she looks elsewhere to continue her love, to find adoration elsewhere is null when her grandmother is pressuring her for results: she auditions for a company in la and passes; suddenly she’s on a flight to korea and training to debut in a girl group of some unknown company
just when she was about to debut, her grandmother ends up sick and she went home when she was supposed to be practicing/preparing for debut
( 2020 ) she ends up getting dropped from the debut lineup upon return (and still has the audacity to be sad about it) ~

because of that she was able to come out of her shell, however, it was falsified by the desperate need of validation and her inherent ego that waged a war with her insecurities

such as when she was supposed to debut, she knew what was at stake but still left -> her grandmother didn’t even appreciate her visiting when she was sick, instead she was told to go back to korea and finish what she started

In a sense, he is strong for overcoming all the things the things that had hit him like a truck, but he sees himself as more pathetic than anything else. He also considers himself rather selfish, although anyone who knows him well enough knows that's not true despite all his flaws.

three headcanons you never told anyone.
Every once in a while Yongsun walks down usually abandoned train tracks as the sun sets. For some reason the setting reminds him of something, but he can't quite make out of what exactly. But nevertheless he remembers or not, he still finds the quiet in places like this nice.
He tries to keep his relationships with his clients purely professional, but there were a few instances where he actually dated some of them.
And here's my time to write the big plot twist where he actually's killed someone in his main verse! Jk, jk, he hasn't killed anyone in that verse... Yet, who knows what would happen in the future lol. But on a more serious note, Yongsun still dwells on the past from time to time, about whether or not he actually wants to remember parts of it one day, and whether if anything differently would have changed something (I know, very hypocritical for someone who always to not look back and to not give a single fuck in the world, but we're talking about the king of the hypocrites out of all my muses here).

He's easily one of the first and most prominent people who saw through him and instead of leaving when he started pushing him away out of fear, insecurity and overall feeling overwhelmed, Evan did not budge and brought him back to reality. And Yongsun is well aware that he's quite handful, but he set his mind on making it worth it,
Scarlet, Zander, Fenris, Wolf and Seb (@dozenrozez) (yes, I know that going over the limit of 3 people he loves, I don't care). Obviously I had to add here the megaship with them and Nini's Evan & Sunny. Let's just say that it never gets old in their house lol He's genuinely happy to be there and be a little menace.

I'm cheating again, can't you tell. Rowan (@formorethananame). That's his baby in his vampire verse and he would not think twice to kill someone if they hurt him. Both of them have been through a lot and have some touchpoints that they could relate to each other. He couldn't have imagined to be able to open up to someone as much as he did to Rowan, but him coming into his life was enough proof that it wasn't impossible and that he could trust him.

Pushing so many people he cared about away. He says that it's better this way, that it is what it is. But deep down he knows that, no, it isn't 'it is what it is' at all. But his belief that he's not worthy of love (be it platonic or romantic) and that there are much better than him, people who would ruin those people's lives and make them feel miserable (a lie in reality, but a truth in his mind) so those thoughts just keep clashing together.
Often he would say he doesn't regret anything, but including point one, he also regrets biting his tongue one too many times. He come across a lot of people who he couldn't stand at all and would have loved to tell them off, but he didn't during that time to preserve himself. Why did he have to be such a coward?

It is Moriarthree week (?? I guess?) and because my inbox is so quiet lately, I have to think of ideas for my own content (how rude), and I think I can make today's prompt (????) into a meta idea.
Sibling Bonding! Let's go.
Let's go, in fact, all the way back to chapter two, when Albert takes time off work to help Louis and Albert move into their manor in Durham. Albert does not live there and I'm not sure he's ever actually even there after his little brothers are all moved in; most of the plot takes place in London, where he canonically lives, and it's mentioned he sees William (and accordingly, Louis) maybe once or twice a month (in The Final Problem). And yet, despite there not being any real plans to carry out their murder plot from Durham, or any actual intention yet of starting their plot in earnest, Albert comes and helps them move in because that's the brotherly thing to do!
I will say that later it's not totally clear when this chapter takes place. If he's just moving to Durham, it would make sense for Liam to be 17 and just having gotten his professorship. And it might make sense for Albert to help…literal children move in. But they don't actually look that young in any other respect, William actually appears in that chapter to have already had his job while living…elsewhere? (Sir, it is a multi-hour train ride from London to Durham; what is happening?). And it would require an extra time skip that's not indicated and it would fuck up the years.
So we're just going to have to assume they've actually known each other for 14 years already and the timeline is just a bit of mess yet again.
It's been 13 years since we last saw them, and things have changed. Albert has really been fully integrated into the sibling trio by then. So this chapter has to do a lot of work. Since their relationship is so critical to and such a huge emotional component of the story, it needs to be established very early. And I actually think the way it's done here is significantly more effective than massive exposition. It's just some small details, the careful interactions and inside jokes and the well-oiled reactions to each other's habits. There's not much heavy exposition. We find out more about their middling years together later, with Jack and even Milverton.
But in chapter two, we see this wealth of years between them in small details and not stories. We see Albert's overly detailed map, which William is just politely exasperated about and knew to expect. We hear Louis talk about Albert's fastidiousness as common knowledge among the brothers, a sign they've lived closely together for a long time, since Albert's bio family never seemed to pick up on it. We hear about Albert having made his excuses to the military to give his brothers a hand and see where they're going to be living. We see them comfortable, with sleeves rolled up, working together on domestic tasks before they work together on murderous tasks again. They work together even on something as simple as cleaning as an effective team.
But those little details, shown right up front, kind of establish the same thing as William liking the Fibonacci sequence and Shakespeare do. They actually show the lived in relationship instead of telling us what it is. They give us small details to find cute and which aren't overwhelming when actual plot is supposed to be happening. A lot of those details upfront grow into something else later.
And, apparently, Louis even hates grapefruit, but eats it for their plan. Cute.

ANYWAY, since the guessing game is still on, I was thinking a lot during this chapter. My guess is, either Raph has a really stupid idea that he‘s thinking through right now and that‘s why he‘s been so quiet OR smth happens to the Hueso place and he like sacrifices himself to get his family to escape like idk maybe EPF or smth knocks at the door and he holds them off
And so I was wondering if you could tell us when this stupid thing is gonna happen, I have a feeling it might be like the book 2 finale or somewhere close to that??
ALSO, I was wondering how you organise your chapters and the plot you write about. Do you have like a pinboard and put the NYC map on it and connect the dots with red yarn? (Detective style) or do you use some program or are just…weird and memorise it all?
Maybe he hasn't actually had the stupid idea yet, but he's definitely ruminating on everything that eventually compels him to make that decision.
The stupid thing will be a direct consequence of the final climax, so it'll be coming up here soon. I'm going to put up a poll probably after the next chapter.
I'm giddy that we're getting there, honestly. There's a foreshadow I put in literally in the single-digit chapters of Book 1 and when I wrote that I couldn't imagine actually getting to that point. I always feel like I'm going to die or something before I finish stuff, like, I was shocked when I finished doth.
Oh my goooood I am so terrible about plotting and outlines and stuff. I always, always feel like I'm in elementary school filling out a worksheet. I am basically this guy

except there is no paper because I haven't written anything down I'm just sleep deprived and rambling and smoking copious amounts of weed. (I have never smoked weed)
I know generally how the plots go, and as chapters draw closer I start thinking more specifically about where parts should go and where they would fit best. The whole war kick-off thing, that originally was going to happen after the third reverse-kidnapping, (the mall with the mercenaries one) but Gale and Mikey were still having their library trips, and that just seemed like an...awkward thing to have hanging over them. And it just didn't have to be. I could have cut that arc short, delayed the third reverse-kidnapping until after after the library meetings were discovered, or I could push off the war. And the war didn't need to happen then-if anything, it complicated the other plot points that needed to happen. And I think it worked out for the better this way.
I'm not totally satisfied with this method though. When I was writing Book 1, I had probably about half the fic written before I started posting-it was all in one document, Donnie's scenes were all together and Leo's scenes were in some incomprehensible order and often unfinished because I wasn't expecting to post anything and would just stop when I felt like it, when I finally committed to putting it to order I think I had like eight documents open at one point and three different highlighter colors to denote what I'd done in the master document, it was an ORDEAL-but it meant that I could group scenes together based on what was most effective, move things around very easily. The fact that Leo and Donnie's chapters were pointedly not happening at the same time helped a lot too. In Book 2, I end up writing with two, maybe three chapters planned ahead in my brain, and I feel like that forces me to sometimes rely on short-term climaxes that add to the word count but don't really do much for the story overall, or put off certain things that I don't particularly feel like writing at the time or don't know would work there. Book 2 would probably be significantly shorter if I'd plotted it out the way I did Book 1.
...What were we talking about? Oh! I do actually have a map of NYC open pretty much constantly in my fic window, it probably shows when they were driving around last chapter that I was literally going along the border with my pointer finger. But I'm terrible and I don't write any of this shit down. I usually remember, but there have been occasions where I've completely forgotten what I was going to do, and I think it was chapter 32 where I had pretty much finished the rest of the chapter and then realized I'd forgotten the final Leo scene-which was a pretty major scene. So I guess...yeah, weird and memorize sounds correct, but I don't actually do it that well.

from the first episode of the show it's obvious that they are showing that Daniel is suspicious, you know with his first sort of lack of reaction to his father's death, to little things he says like "my mum" then "our mum", the banged up car, not finding out who the company's are and then needing money (and his bloody coat, maybe he's hiding something in there) ofc the show is throwing us of, when I first watched the episode I wasn't paying attention to the other characters because I was just thinking what is Daniel up to (and why is rob James collier so good looking) but I've been thinking about who the murderer could've been, it could've been the wife, the best friend, or any of the siblings or ex boyfriends, or it could be a situation where they all helped to kill the dad, and they all had their own motives. But I completely agree with you on your other post, all of them or some of them have drinking problems. Part of me feels like the murder wasn't a 1 man job tho.

Alright guys, just for the sake of saving myself some time and people's dashes from being flooded I'mma answer all of these at once and under a read-more, hopefully that's cool. Plus, I'd probably answer them all fairly similarly and a read-more may be for the best in case anyone out there doesn't want any spoilers/speculation.
I've definitely seen a few people now speculating that there could be more than one person responsible for their father's death. And it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. I lean away from it being all three siblings (but still could be two of them or a nonsibling involved) for a few reasons though.
First, I really don't think Daniel did it. Like one of you said, I believe we're supposed to the suspicious of him but based on a few things I just don't think it was him. I felt like his reaction to finding his father's body was more of an "oh shit, who is going to bail me out now" mixed with a bit of shock, most likely. RJC said in an interview that Daniel is quite selfish, has used his father his entire life, and has taken from the family pot on the regular. Someone else hypothesized on Discord that the accounts their father has been sending money to could very well be Daniel's and I think it's a great catch and probably likely based on RJC's quote and the fact that Daniel was quick to take those papers and offer to figure it out...while never actually doing so. If his father has been bailing him out on the regular, I don't see someone jumping to murder for more money, especially since getting an inheritance can take a long time to be sorted. Daniel really has no motive, his father was worth more to him alive than dead, and even if he'd learned of the will change, I'd definitely hold off on killing him if I needed the money asap (which Daniel clearly does).
Could it still be him? Sure. But I really hope it isn't because that just seems too easy and also nonsensical at the same time to me. I think most of his behavior can be blamed on how he's scrambling now without his financial safety net.
Which leaves Chloe and Sian for the siblings and Chloe is still sus af to me. Why was she cleaning? I feel like these small details are usually added in for very specific reasons, they're supposed to be anyway, so I wonder if 'ol girl needs to remove some evidence. 👀 And if by some chance I'm right, then I really, really don't think Daniel is in on it because he was the one to ask her why she was doing it. Plus, like I said earlier, she's just too quiet but her eyes are so knowing. Mind you, they're all supposed to have secrets according to the official plot so perhaps I'm reading too much into this girl's poor face. 😂
I still don't know what to make of Sian. She seems more detached than the others but that's just how some people grieve. Could also be a red flag. Maybe the ladies teamed up and took out dear Dad for some reason. 😅
I do really like the idea that there are clues hidden in the home videos and that sinister things were accidentally captured. The creeper in the caravan I'm still clueless on, none of the characters introduced so far seem the sort to hide out in creepy caravans, except perhaps the father's ex-best-friend. I do wonder if the caravan scenes could perhaps be on a different timeline that we need to catch up to though and in that case it could be one of the siblings or well...anyone, still.
I'm reminding myself of the fact that this is a mini series, so it's all got to be summed up in only three more episodes which seems like a lofty goal to me. But I will say the pacing on this show has been amazingly executed so far, it definitely feels like there's zero filler (although I wouldn't object to Daniel related filler) which is also why I think every tiny detail is placed there for a very specific reason. Their time is so very limited, I don't see anyone wasting time on throw away scenes or even lines. As mentioned above, even the music choice seems exceptionally intentional, more so than most shows, so I'm just going to continue to assume everything is being said or done for a reason until I'm proven wrong. 😂
Maybe we're all wrong and the dad killed himself because he was tired of these damn kids. 🤪

Absolutely, thanks for asking! I'm honestly not going to be as eloquent as I used to be on the subject, because I haven't spent as much time recently dwelling on it (and I've been drinking the wine I opened for this pot roast-) but the gist of it would be:
Not even talking about themes, but just plots, Bilbo staying in Erebor leads to the rise of Sauron, I'm not joking. Frodo's parents die, he stays in Brandy Hall, and- then what? Does Bilbo ever give the ring up? If he does, it's not to Frodo. And being surrounded by wealth and power is for sure something that would help the Ring, not Bilbo.
"Well, but, what if, well, Bilbo could still adopt him, and he's a prince in Erebor, and-" Yeah, I can make things up, too, until it's a completely different story with different meanings, but what is the point? 1. Why would Bilbo do that, when he's then been living in the Lonely Mountain for decades, why would he even think of his old life, and 2. We're missing the themes, which matter.
Tolkien continuously values simple, quiet lives of simple, quiet people in his stories. It's not that he doesn't think noble kings are cool, it's that they aren't the point. There's a reason Aragorn isn't the major hero of Lord of the Rings, and heck, even a reason people argue who's the bigger hero, Sam or Frodo (which also kind of misses the point, but whatever-). Even surrounded by the splendors of Erebor, what Bilbo misses most is home and hearth. Of course he loves his friends - he still goes home.
The folly of starting a war - a horrible thing Tolkien makes clear in EVERY story should only be started at direst need - over riches of all things is pretty clearly laid out. Thranduil says (not a direct quote, but very close) "Long will I tarry, ere I start this war for gold." (Another thing the movies totally screwed up, fanon Thranduil sucks, book Elvenking is the fucking shit). The reason Thorin starts this war is the sickness of the gold. So to then....live. And just.....keep hanging around with the gold, like. Hey man, I know you're short cause you're a dwarf, but the point just sailed over your head by a mile.
"Well, but he's learned his lesson, and this, and that, and-" It misses the point. The Hobbit films tried WAY too hard (which is squarely Warner Bros fault), but Gandalf's monologue in the first film that it is the smallest people and their quiet lives that truly matter, that was still on the money (if mildly overdone). There's a reason Bilbo goes back and doesn't stay, an important one. There's a reason Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam set out to save the Shire in particular. It matters more than all the kings and gold of all of Middle-Earth.
And that reason is a beautiful one.

There is so much to unpack in here. First of all, imagine having a picture of your delighted boss as his contact pic on your phone. We all know they're friends, but Aaron is still their boss, the leader of the team. Unironically having such a picture on your phone & always being happy to see him speaks volumes. Having such close relationships at work is goals.
Second of all, the entire team recognizing that they are Emily's family. All of them (and David gesturing at himself at "She run to protect us", accepting his role in Emily's life without a blink of an eye. Yes, he's been working with Emily for years, but he joined the team after she was already there, and he still adopted her as a part of his own). However, Spencer (that barely has any close relationships (aside from Derek) and has troubles talking openly about his feelings) recognizing it makes it so much more special. Him straight up going, "This doesn't make any sense. We're her family. We can help." All of that after he opened up to her about his headaches. That kid really does trust her & recognizes her as a part of his people.
Third of all, they keep teaching me that if something wasn't said out loud, it doesn't mean it passed unnoticed. The way Rossi verbally explains about Emily's distancing, her secrets, just not being her usual self reminds me, once again, how good of a profiler he (and the team) is. That's why he went, "You know, you haven't been on vacation for a while. Think about it." He didn't want to invade her personal space and problems (because, if she was ready to talk about it, she would), but he did want to help. Most of the team going silent with her because that's how it works. Hotch asking her only once, "Are you okay?" after she was late for, like, third time in a week & leaving her alone after she dismissed him. It's how he treated Spencer after Hankel, too. It's how he recognizes his team's problems, but mostly chooses to stay out of their way because he believes in them and their ability to talk if they ever need to. That also makes me think of that time when Strauss wanted to fire Aaron, and Aaron went with a full speech on how actually good he understands every single one of them and how hard this job is, and how they all cope in a different manner.
It's only Derek that couldn't keep quiet during that month (and Spencer, at the very end) because he is that kind of person. Because if no one is going to try to do something about that, he will.
This plot-line with Emily & how her team reacts to her behavior is everything.

I usually don't mind spoilers, but I absolutely can agree that going in blindly has its perks with this show (and I don't want to know anything past where I am now). The way I cheered and sobbed like a fool after seeing her coming back. Aaron's little smile. Spencer starting smiling, too. Talking ahead, I couldn't believe she was talking, moving, and actually working with the team. I missed her so much. Seaver's lack of expression is understandable, but she couldn't replace neither JJ and/or Emily even if she wanted to. She can't possibly understand how much they mean to the team (and, frankly, the show and the fans). I am so excited and can't wait for the end of s6 when they both come back. <3

The way Derek was throwing a tantrum & David didn't take the bait even once. He was just a tired experienced old man that was so Done with this kid. I appreciate that about him. I appreciate him accepting people for who they are (and I'm mostly talking about Emily, 'cause he recognized that if she did something, it was for a reason, and a valuable one at that) & working with that.

I though you were a better profiler." & him, finally, being impressed. Aaron rightfully earned his place in BAU and his role as a leader of the team.

I wonder why people do not really like introvert characters. And it made be surprised when that anon said El is boring too? She is an action heroine who gets consistent storylines each season. Not every character can be like Mike Dustin or Steve. This sort of bias against introvert characters exist for Jonathan and Will too and I just feel like people want to see all cardboard cut out characters everytime atp, if a character is snarky and sarcastic and cracks jokes or is funny like Steve and laidback then it is good. Otherwise it is bad.
Everyone has their preferences. I got into Stranger Things because it reminded me a bit of older movies where we were allowed to sit in a character's mind longer and figure out who they really are. Introverted characters are a great vessel for this because they're already inwardly focused people observing the world around them.
But be it in on the tv screen or in real life, many many people are just not interested in a wallflower character or sitting in a character's mind space for too long.
They want to see something happening. They want action. They want comedy. They want people talking without the awkward quiet silences. It all comes down to preference.
This is why I believe despite how amazing season 1 and 2 are, and how poorly I think season 3 was written........ season 3 is arguably the most liked season of Stranger Things among the general audience (I say this, but my whole family dislikes season 3. lol and we're a mixture of extroverted and introverted people so I dunno)
Extroverted characters are great for pushing the plot forward or making the hard decisions that an introverted character might not doing willingly. They're also great for lighting a fire under the introvert's ass to get them moving on whatever important thing they need to do.
To me, having both of these types of characters is what makes a show good to watch. I just don't know how anyone can see El or Will boring for this reason. It's like... they don't have to be your favorite obviously. Maybe you don't even have to like them. But boring? To me they're just so fascinating, especially because of how the people around them interact with and support them.
I dunno how to put it into words, but yeah. I hope season 5 slows down and gives us more introspection on all the characters. I don't really care how "boring" that will be for some people. There is a lot of mysteries and plots to wrap up and you can't resolve that with nail bats or fireworks every time.

I'm doing the latest 10 fics I've posted to Ao3, oldest first, and I'll include links because... every excuse to self-promote? Everything here is Star Wars, most of it Bad Batch (from before s3, save the last two), and most of that is more or less Crosshair-centric.

So... Patterns? I was gonna say something about fairly long sentences, but then half of them turned out to be pretty short, actually 😅
I guess I try to set the scene: Who's there, what are they doing, what's the Problem (if the characters know, yet) etc. Try to make clear what canon scene we've jumped into, when relevant (I.e. in Labor of love, which picks up towards the end of Kamino Lost, when Hunter has just said something like 'you gave us a chance Crosshair; this is yours' and Omega has said 'they're still your brothers, Crosshair. You're my brother too.', which is what Wrecker's thoughts are referring to.)
I also tend to start right in the middle of Something, especially in the more action-filled ones. This is both because I then avoid losing people to "boring" exposition or world-building or descriptions right out of the gate, and also because beginnings are Hard, so the way I typically start writing a fic (or anything, really) is to start with whatever scene I've got in mind that sparked the idea for the rest of the fic, regardless of when it actually takes place, and then build the rest around it. Or by writing notes/something like an outline if I don't have a specific scene in mind but more just a sort of general feeling or plot or theme or something I want to write about, and then expand those into text-text. This approach means I often end up explaining the things that need explaining throughout the fic, so there's no need to put it all at the beginning. And also - it's fanfic. By far most of my readers will already be familiar with the characters and general setting; I just need to make clear where and how we might deviate from that.

4. Did you know your s/o long before you two became a couple, or was the relationship established relatively quickly after you both met?
"Hate that word...'Quickly' I mean. Cause time gets all crazy sorts of messed up when you're dead. But I guess that's besides the point. I knew Reagan for a while. It was a good few months before we even became friends. And another year or so till they finally decided to admit they were so madly in love with me that they absolutely couldn't live without me. Guess it took me around the same to realize I don't mind being around them either. Don't think we ever did the dramatic 'Oh, I love you! I love you too! Mwah, mwah, don't ever leave me, oh!' thing. But y'know, we established some ground rules about him and me and what we were, so...I guess there's that in terms of making it official."
11. What do you want out of the future with your s/o? Do you want marriage, a family, a houseful of dogs? Or do you not think that far ahead and prefer to focus entirely on the here and now? Do you know if they have any thoughts like this?
"Houseful of -- ! Euck, no. I will take a very empty home though. With lots of humans in and out to scare the crap out of. Maybe even a ticket to the land of the living. But, y'know not in a...I mean, like not in a weird sappy way. I just think that maybe marriage would be beneficial to both of us. Like for tax shit, or whatever they'd get out of it. Half the time I don't even know what the hell we're doing, so I try not to think that far ahead. I don't... actually know about what they think, either. Not like I'm afraid to ask, or anything...I just...I don't know. I mean, why would I care..." his voice trails off nervously.
15. Have any of your habits rubbed off on your s/o? For example, have they adopted some of your speech patterns into their daily conversations, or perhaps you have a habit of moving your hands a certain way that they unknowingly have started to mimic? Anything like that. Have they influenced you in a similar fashion?
"Hah! I can one up a stupid speech pattern. Let me tell you, when I met this guy, they were like a fuckin' walking zombie. Had the quiet, glazed-over eyed stare and everything. Now? They're the life of the party! And I don't just mean because they're usually the only alive one. They've got jokes and everything now. I mean, most of them are mine that they stole, but that's besides the point. They don't seem like they hate being every place you take them anymore. Kind of proud of them for it. I try not to think too hard about it, because I'd like to think I just have that party-going effect on people. Opposite side of the spectrum, I guess they calm me down a little. I can appreciate a quiet moment once in a very, very long while. Usually because they yell at me to shut up while they're working, and so I gotta invent a new way to mess with them. It's like a smorgasbord of creativity between them working and me plotting, then. It's a beautiful thing, really."
