Random Evil Dead Fun Facts!
Because I'm hyperfixated on it :P
Tumblr media
Originally, Ash was supposed to lose an eye in Army of Darkness, but this was scrapped.
Currently Evil Dead (2013) has the most fake blood used in a film, with 50,000 gallons being used. This isn't that suprising considering that during the final 10 minutes of the film, it is raining blood non-stop.
Freddy Krueger's glove is in the workshed in Evil Dead 2. This is a reference to how in A Nightmare on Elm Street, Nancy watched The Evil Dead. Ironically, that was a nod to how Wes Craven's "The Hills have Eyes" poster was in The Evil Dead. That in turn was a nod to how in The Hills have Eyes a torn Jaws poster is seen on the walls. Very confusing easter egg.
Ironically, Ash actually does say the correct words during the Necronomicon scene in Army of Darkness, but it's hard to hear due to Bruce Campbell coughing his way through it, which sounds like something Ash would do honestly.
Speaking of that scene in Army of Darkness, it is actually established that Ash isn't good at remembering phrases, shown by the scene in The Evil Dead, where Ash tries to recite a greek quote but fucks it up.
Evil Dead Rise confirms that the original trilogy takes place in the same universe as the remake and Evil Dead Rise. For one, they confirm there are three volumes of the Necronomicon, being the ones seen in Army of Darkness. The first Necronomicon, Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, was found by Prof. Knowby and read by Ash and his friends. The second book, Naturom Demonto, is the one Mia found in her family cabin and the final one, also named Naturom Demonto, is the one locked in the bank vault in Evil Dead Rise.
Each deadite in Evil Dead Rise has different eyes referencing the older ones. Ellie has unique silver eyes, Bridget and the neighbours have golden yellow eyes (like in the 2013 film) and Danny has pupilless white eyes (like in the original trilogy.)
The character names in Evil Dead (2013) start with letters that spell the word "DEMON" (David, Eric, Mia, Olivia and Natalie.)
Similarly, the building in Evil Dead Rise, the Monde, is an anagram for Demon as well.
A reocurring theme in the Evil Dead films, is a sister getting possessed and tormenting their sibling. This is shown with Cheryl and her brother Ash, Mia and her brother David, Ellie and her sister Beth and Bridget and her siblings Danny and Kassie.
All the characters in Evil Dead Rise are named after actors from the Evil Dead films, which I elaborate on here.
Originally Army of Darkness was named "Medieval Dead."
The original ending of Army of Darkness showed Ash waking up in a post-apocolyptic future, but it was changed to the more optimistic ending. Despite both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell preferring the original ending, the redone ending was used to continue the story with Ash VS Evil Dead.
The original ending was also supposed to lead into Evil Dead 4, where Ash would've fought deadites in the future with robots and other futuristic tropes, but because the ending was changed this never happened. Ironically, the same thing happened to Ash VS Evil Dead, when Season 3 ended on a cliffhanger so that the next season could be in the post-apocalyptic future, but this too was cancelled.
The German version of Army of Darkness incorporates both endings. It starts with the deleted ending, where Ash incorrectly takes 7 drops instead of 6, but as he sleeps it cuts to black and says Ash began dreaming over the centuries. Then it cuts to the regular ending where Ash is in the supermarket and is hailed as a hero before cutting back to him waking up in the post-apocalyptic future. Ironically this is my favourite ending, but it's not-canon.
Evil Dead (2013) had a bunch of different endings before settling on the, supposedly, canon one. One ending had Mia simply leave and the film ends, another had her go to leave before being jumped by a demon (like in The Evil Dead's ending), another had her collapse on the road and get rescued only to reveal she was still possessed and another had her go to leave but start floating before she exploded. The canon one is likely the theatrical ending where she simply walks away, and since we never see Mia again we have nothing to confirm or deny this.
The Abomination from Evil Dead (2013) is inspired by the poster of The Evil Dead, which depicts a woman being dragged into a grave. The Abomination even does the same pose when it rises.
Speaking of The Evil Dead posters, the promo images for The Evil Dead, showed Bruce Campbell and Bridget Hoffman being attacked by a skeleton prop, and defending themselves with a chainsaw. Despite being in all the promotional images and being on the literal cover, Bridget Hoffman was not in the film, though it's likely she is supposed to be a stand-in for Linda. She also played a cameo role as a sword fighter in Army of Darkness, and the voice of the Lori doll in Ash VS Evil Dead.
In The Evil Dead originally it was written that the characters would be smoking weed whilst listening to the tapes, perhaps as a way to explain why they would willingly play the tape, and as a way to rationalise the characters dumb decisions for the rest of the film. This however, was scrapped when the actors did smoke weed for the shot, but got too high and became uncontrollable.
The opening shot of The Evil Dead was filmed by Sam Raimi who stood on a boat, whilst Bruce Campbell pushed him along.
One of the demon passages in The Evil Dead translates to "Sam and Rob are the hikers on the road" a reference to the fact that the two hitchhikers at the start of the film are literally Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.
During The Evil Dead, a cameraman slipped and dropped his camera onto Bruce Campbell's face, which caused several of his teeth to fall out.
Apparently during filming for Evil Dead 2, after one of the slapstick scenes Bruce Campbell heard somebody making funny noises above him and thought they were making fun of his performance, only for it to turn out that guy got electrocuted. I say apparently because even though Campbell said this himself, he could've been kidding.
Originally the idea with Evil Dead (2013) was that it would get a sequel, similar to Evil Dead 2 but with Mia, and then Ash's story would get a sequel with Army of Darkness 2, and then a third sequel would be made that would have Mia and Ash's stories merge and have the two characters meet, explaining the random after-credits scene in 2013. For some reason they never made the sequel to Evil Dead (2013) and the sequel to Army of Darkness was scrapped for Ash VS Evil Dead instead. The 2013 sequel was replaced with Evil Dead Rise, and Bruce Campbell has since retired as Ash in live-action.
In Japan, Army of Darkness is called "Captain Supermarket" probably being in reference to how Ash works in retail.
So far Evil Dead Rise is the only Evil Dead film without Ash's yellow delta, though apparently the chainsaw used by Beth is the same exact colour as the delta, being a double-reference.
Speaking of the delta, Ash's car appears in Evil Dead (2013), sitting abandoned in front of the cabin. It is most likely just an easter egg and has no lore implications.
Mia and David are half-siblings with different fathers. Originally it was intended for Mia to be Ash's daughter, but this was changed by Raimi. Ironically Ash did end up getting a daughter in the TV show.
Speaking of, Mia was supposed to appear in Ash VS Evil Dead, but it’s likely she wouldn’t have fit since her movie and experience was way darker than Ash’s, and she wouldn’t fit the tone.
The canonical reason Evil Dead (2013) is so similar to The Evil Dead is because the Necronomicon can cause history to repeat itself and likely lured the 5 friends to the cabin (which could also explain why some of the randoms are even here). This is why the 5 characters play very similar roles to the original film, Eric is Scotty, Natalie is Linda, Olivia is Shelly, and David is Ash whilst Mia is Cheryl. The reason Mia survives instead of David, and becomes more like Ash in the finale is likely that when David saved Mia, which Ash failed to do with Cheryl, the Necronomicon decided David should die and Mia should take Ash's role instead. It's also possible that David took the role of Annie in the finale, with him helping before being killed last second, but this is a bit of a stretch.
Bruce Campbell has two cameos in Evil Dead Rise. First is his voice being heard on the first tape Danny plays, where he plays a priest yelling “It’s called the Book of the Dead for a reason!” The second is simply the biting noises when Ellie bites Gabriel’s eye out, being Bruce Campbell furiously biting an apple.
Lee Cronin (Writer/Director of Evil Dead Rise) stated that Bruce Campbell’s cameo was intended to actually be Ash Williams himself. His reasoning was that Ash has found himself in the wrong time period a lot, and it would make sense for a time-displaced Ash to try and get rid of the Necronomicon in the past, before shit hits the fan.
Chet Kaminski was invited by Ash to go with them to the cabin. He chose not to come because Cheryl was also going and he didn’t want Ash to find out he was dating his sister as he feared it would end their friendship. This ultimately ended up saving his life.
In the Evil Dead films, the only characters to be possessed after they died were Scotty, Eric, David, Danny and the neighbours (Evil Dead Rise).
Shelly is never mentioned ever again after The Evil Dead. Scotty is mentioned once, in Ash VS Evil Dead.
Whilst shooting the recap scenes in Evil Dead 2, originally it was intended to have The Evil Dead be more closely followed, with Scotty, Cheryl and Shelly being there with Ash and not just Linda. Sam Raimi himself was going to play Scotty, but it was scrapped in favour of it being only Linda. It’s this recap that led to many fans and viewers being confused and assuming Evil Dead 2 was a retcon or remake when it was not. They couldn’t simply use footage from The Evil Dead due to licensing issues.

I've been a Pokémon fan since the very beginning and recently a friend asked me who my favourite character was. I couldn't answer with just one character. So instead I gave her my top 3 favourites from each generation - and then turned it into this. lol
A little bit more info under the cut if you're interested.
_______
Please do not alter, repost/reupload or redistribute my artwork anywhere! (Reblogging is perfectly fine, of course.)
Gen 1:
Blue: The original rival, you loved to hate him. :D
Erika: I loved her design as a kid, even though I had no idea what a kimono was back then lol
Bill: No idea tbh lol. I like his hair and that he's a nerd, I guess? Honestly, Gen 1 did not have that many memorable and fleshed out characters, so I kinda struggled here.
Gen 2:
Lance: Honestly, he was my fave in Gen 1 already. I love his strength, his design, his virtuousness, his bravery, his code of honour, his everything. To me he's like a knight in shiny armour from old fairytales. lol I could spend a whole day describing all the things I love about him, but I don't wanna bore you.
Eusine: Probably a weird pick for many because he is kinda obnoxious in the game lol I've always had a soft spot for him though and I really wanted him to get Suicune in the end, after he'd changed.
Morty: I love his design and colours and that he's Eusine's bff and voice of reason.
Gen 3:
Steven: He is classy, wears a really awesome suit, has very cool Pokémon and is still a huge nerd. I love it!
Archie: (I see you, @chipsncookies) Big hunk with a big smile and a cool outfit. Beard. Not a bad guy, actually. Learns that he was wrong and does everything to make things right again. Frienemies with Maxie.
Maxie: Scrawny beanpole with a silly (but very cozy looking) outfit. Secretly a dork. Not a bad guy either. Learns from his mistakes and wants to make them right again. Frienemies with Archie.
Gen 4:
Riley: I was a huge fan of Sir Aaron in the movie and Riley is just as awesome. I love his hat too. His personality is also similar to Lance's, so that's a huge plus.
Cynthia: I really, really like her. She is so cool and strong and her theme is amazing. Just like Charizard she's become too popular and that gets a bit tiresome sometimes.
Looker: Okay, I admit, it took me a while to get used to Looker. But now I like his quirky, funny Inspector Gadget shenanigans. What changed my mind was the aftergame of XY. ;__;
Gen 5:
Ingo & Emmet: I couldn't do it. I couldn't choose who of them I like more. So they share the first place. They're a duo anyway. And absolutely inseparable. R-Right?
Elesa: I like her mainly because of the fanon that she's bffs with the subway twins. But she's also not the bitchy supermodel that I first thought she was. She's actually kind and supportive.
Alder: Funny grandpa with awful hair, but a big heart and a great theme song.
Gen 6:
Lysandre: His design always gave me Ganondorf-vibes. That's pretty much it. His goal is stupid.
Emma: Her storyline in the post-game was by far the best thing in XY. And her theme is so beautiful!
Sycamore: I still wish he had actually turned out to be evil. I still like him.
Gen 7:
Kukui: What is not to love about him? He's a hunk, he loves his wife, he takes in Lillie, he punches Pokémon with his bare hands.
Lillie: Sweet little girl who deserves all the love from her friends and her adoptive parents instead of all the shit her psycho bio mother put her through.
Burnet: She's sweet and smart and kind and I wish she had a much bigger role in the game. Her anime part was great though <3
Gen 8:
Piers, Sonia and Raihan: Honestly... These are pretty much the only characters that I remember lol Gen 8 was very underwhelming for me.
Gen 9:
Arven: Just a poor neglected boy who wants to save his sick dog. In contrast to his shitty parents he's got a big heart, is caring, nurturing and supportive.
Clavell: The twist about this character was that there was no twist. He is just a very kind grandpa who genuinely cares for the well-being of his students. I also LOVE his battle theme.
Hassel: This game really is full of wholesome boomers. Hassel's got a huge heart for art and his students and Pokémon. He's also not afraid of showing his emotions.

crazy about this btw
its like more than likely not done on purpose but do i care. No! the way not only the roles are swapped but the expression too the exact same regretful almost pitiful expression of “i wish i could understand or help you”
evil morty actually is my favourite character. yes out of EVERYONE!! he just scratches such a specific itch. the whole series morties are these guys that get taken advantage of time and time again by Everyone and it’s just seen as how it is by default no matter what but trhis specific one is the only morty to have ever done anything about it. it’s a completely selfish journey. he crushes other morties under his palm in his path but he doesn’t care he doesn’t let it distract him because that’s exactly what he needs to do. if he lets that make him feel bad it’d all fail. he’s like if a morty was a rick to me i guess. kind of like how doofus rick is except reverse. buhhhhwi love you. i also do think he genuinely admired and likes c-137. he sees the way he’s yelling at and berating his rick for making him upset and he thinks to himself Holy shit! I’m not the only one!!! but of course he doesn’t do anything in that specific situation bc again if he did if he did ANYTHING out of place itd fuck everything over. and then when he meets him again. the way he asks him if he wants to come with him… aaaaugghsgdvd lowkey? Lowkey wish he accepted the offer and left rick to die and rick died oops

hiii r&m anon here again!!! i noticed you mentioned liking season 7, so i was wondering if you had any favorite or least favourite episodes, plotlines, all that jazz. season 7 debrief, if you will. would love to hear your thoughts!
ram anon gracing my inbox once again (always a pleasure)
huge rant below the cut (talking about rick and morty triggers the longwinded newspaper art critic in me sorry)
s7e2 and e4 were the best episodes in my opinion. absurd, darkly funny, overall just so perfect. i was especially excited about s7e2 since the rick/jerry dynamic has intrigued me since episode s3e5. i love that that episode basically just confirmed Rick and Jerry may be foils but are also perfect complements? they can only understand / appreciate each other when they are literally existing in each other's flesh? i try not to wax poetic about ram but this episode was tempting meeeee
and re: e4, i think this show's writing is at its best when the writers come up with a stupid concept and treat it seriously. i love that this episode saw the concept of 'what if corpse spaghetti' through to the end. classic dark comedy, absurd, wacky goodness. lovee it
one thing i do hate about this season (as well as seasons 5 and 6) is the number of callbacks to 'old' rick and morty. s7e3 and s7e8 were some of the worst episodes this season, mostly because they just reused old plotlines and developed them in the least interesting ways possible, imo. did the mid gag from s3e5 really need its own episode? it really did not. i think that this is one of the worst consequences of the show becoming less episodic and more serialized - the writers just endlessly milk the early seasons to recycle into plotlines, one-off gags, whatever. the self-referentiality and meta humor of newer seasons will always, always grind my gears severely.
also, s7e7 was almost unwatchable. it reminded me of s6e2 in all the worst ways - just dedicating an entire episode to a SINGLE movie reference, doubling down on the singular reference as the episode drags on. god that episode sucked. so boring, annoying, unfunny.
i have extremely mixed feelings on s7e5. On the one hand, I'm still annoyed that the backstory from s3e1 is even canon, and Rick is yet another entry in the long tradition of flawed male protagonists turned into a nihilistic depressed shitshow by the death of a wife. it's such a pat trope, imo.
HOWEVER, i really like how this episode developed Rick. I'll always be a fan of ruthlessness and revenge plotlines, so im biased. but i've come to appreciate Rick Prime as a villain, as a testament to how much Rick hates himself -- there's a version of himself out there that would torture himself across the universe by killing off his own loved ones, just to try to prove his own superiority? it's all very mindfucky but im super into it. Rick C137 killing Prime with his fists, all while Prime goads him? it was such a cool scene. i love when the show does selfcest
i also still have mixed feelings on the evil morty and his growing prominence in the series. it was nice when he was just a little treat, but it became clear in s4 the writers were aware of fan expectations for the character. i can't help but wonder if that's shaped the way they're writing him, especially giving him the centralized role in the story of possible-future-final-antagonist? that being said i've always liked evil morty, he's a fun character to watch on screen. although i'm extremely cautious of my enjoyment. he's already starting to feel like a fanfic rip-off of himself a little bit (that one line where he said 'well, they don't call me good morty' was so bizarre. evil morty was the fandom name for him, and the writers adopted it and made it a diegetic epithet for the character???????)
s7e10 was refreshing after a long season of Morty getting sidelined. I love how this one starts with a classic rick and morty set-up (what if *weird thing* in *random place*) but turns it into existential horror? really cool. i don't think it was the most subtle way to do morty character development, but it was interesting enough that i was invested. also, rick pinning morty's picture to the pinboard. so good
overall my reaction to this season is 'we're so back.' it was LEAGUES better than s5-6, which i think are like the ram dark ages. i don't think s7 was the best season yet (as some are suggesting) but I think that this season marks a positive turn for the quality of writing in the show.!!
here's my episode ranking in ( i mostly did this for fun)
E2
E5
E4
E10
E6
E1
E3
E9
E7
E8
Basically, e7 and e8 were irredeemably terrible. e9, e3, and e1 were mid/fine. e6, e10, e4, e5, and e2 were all varying degrees of peak rick and morty.
other mics. thoughts:
i felt like there was a lot of long, no dialogue, sad music montages that felt like references to the famous scene from s4e8? the one from s7e4 comes to mind immediately. but there were another few sprinkled in
s7e3 rick telling a scientologist "worship how you want" ??? he would not say that. who let that slide in the writing room?
the fight scenes and gore were all really well animated!! since s3 the animation has only gotten better and i love the gore
i actually love the new VAs. they're different from roiland, obviously, but i honestly think they're both doing a better job. the performances are more naturalistic, and less grating? i thought the change would weird me out, but it's subtle, and i like it
Rick canonically bad at eating pussy in his youth

My re-watch recommendations (responding to your earlier post):
-Season 1 Ep 10 (do I need to explain myself? First EM apperance, first interaction between Morty and EM, citadel episode etc.)
-Season 3 Ep 7 (another EM character study and citadel episode)
-Season 3 Ep 8 (basically an anthology of Morty moments and interactions with his family)
-Season 4 Ep 2 (the dating app episode, might be a good plot device to use in future writing and another appearance of Morty's unhinged side + deteriorating relationship with Jerry)
-Season 5 Ep 8 (Rick's character study)
-Season 5 Ep 10 (Another EM episode)
-Season 6 Ep 10 (Lots of Smith family interactions, Rick being at his lowest, and a sprinkle of Star Wars inspired satire)
-S7 Ep 4 ("The Spaghetti Episode", I don't think this episode has much character-related stuff in it, I just like it.)
-S7 Ep 5 ("The Evil Morty Episode", my personal favourite R&M episode of all time)
-S7 Ep 6 ("Another Morty moments anthology)
-S7 Ep 10 ("The Morty Episode", the fear hole needs no introduction.)
Alright hopefully that helped narrow it down, a completely unbiased list of not at all my favourite R&M episodes.
As for my actual ask...
Why is Morty your favourite character?
Tysm for the recommendations! I’ll definitely be making a few analysis posts abt some of these later
As for why Morty is my favorite, I think it’s because there’s so much that can be done with him in the show! He’s the kid that’s innocent at first but is dragged on these mentally damaging adventures that slowly makes him see the world as a shitty place, but he still is a nice person and tries to help other ppl when he can. But I honestly claimed him as my favorite even before I actually watched the show, i don’t rlly know why tho lol it’s something that I tend to do before I get even get into a show (like Nikolai and Dazai in bsd)
Plus there’s so much that can be done with him whenever I write abt him too which is always gonna make me love a character cuz it makes my job easier lol
Honestly I don’t have a real answer to this that I’m absolutely sure of, I just rlly like his character

Rick Prime's Leitmotif
[This post is copy/pasted from the Rick C-137 & Prime Masterpost I reblogged. I'm reposting my thoughts for organisational purposes.]
Imma bout to be destroyed by a literally 823 year old song.
Prime's Leitmotif (Music)
A favourite of mine to talk about: Leitmotifs.
A leitmotif is a piece of reoccurring music that is associated with a particular person, idea, or situation.
Because of how animated tv series are produced, giving each episode a new and unique soundtrack is hard because of the limitations of time and resources. So series will often reuse music and start to create patterns and associations (both on purpose and sometimes by accident) that the audience will start to pick up on. These patterns and associations become leitmotifs.
You can even use leitmotifs to do things like create foreshadowing, remind the audience about a previous idea, and to give a previous scene a new emotional perspective that changes its context. There's a great video on how motifs are used in the musical Hamilton by music theorist Make Stuff that includes examples you can listen to.
Rick and Morty uses various leitmotifs throughout the series.
Tumblr media
For example:
For the first episode Evil Morty is introduced in (season 1 episode 10), the ending song that plays is "For the Damaged Coda." It's a very recognisable song in the show because of its unusual use of the piano and vocals. It stands out. (YouTube clip)
It's never reused again... until The Ricklantis Mixup episode that reveals Evil Morty has taken over the Citadel (season 3 episode 7). This establishes the song as "Evil Morty's theme." (YT clip, at 1:25)
Then it is used a third time (this time it's remixed as an epic orchestral version with strings) when Evil Morty escapes the Central Finite Curve (season 5's season finale). (YT clip)
So, does Prime have a leitmotif? And if so, what does it say about him?
For the first question: The short answer is yes. It plays during the scene where Prime shoots Jerry. Right when he fires:
youtube
This theme also plays:
During the beginning of the scene (more subtly).
When C-137 and Morty are in Prime's lair (remixed to sound more like an action sequence) in season 6 episode 1. (YouTube clip)
During the end of the season 6 season finale (during C-137's rant about hunting Prime down).
On the second question, the longer answer is:
Tumblr media
Dies Irae.
As in
THIS mf:
Tumblr media
So, this was something I didn't realise myself, but 4shame pointed out in this video (at the 15:04 mark) that Prime's theme uses a variation of Dies Irae (the go-to music to introduce a villain or kill off a character). Thank you to @fanbun for introducing me to this video in a post.
youtube
You have likely heard this motif, even if you didn't realise it. Dies Irae is used in the darker moments of The Lion King, Home Alone, The Shining, Jurassic Park, Frozen 2, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Good Place, and Star Wars, just to name a few examples. (YouTube compilations: 1 , 2 , 3 )
Dies Irae was originally a 13th century (circa 1200) Gregorian chant created by Catholic monks. For more information on its history (and more examples of its use in media with on-screen note visuals), here is a video about it by Vox I watched 3 years ago:
youtube
For the purposes of this discussion, I'll sum up the Dies Irae ("Day of Wrath") motif as a set of 4 deep notes that are about the Catholic church's belief in a day of judgement (where God judges the living and the dead and decides whether they go to heaven or hell).
Dies Irae was used specifically for funerals and has an association with death, facing a grim reckoning, and an overall sense of dread.
It's also worth noting that historically, some more stuff happened to this song prior to it being used in film:
French composer Louis-Hector Berlioz took Dies Irae and removed the words (the version we recognise, since the vocals are rarely used in film--The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the only example I recognise that included the monk chanting). This resulted in the movement (a self-contained part of a musical composition) "Dream of the Witches' Sabbath" located in "Symphonie Fantastique" (1830 symphony), which is about a man whose past lover comes back to torment him.
The music is associated with obsessive love.
4shame's video points out that Prime's theme ALSO uses a variation of the Rick and Morty opening theme song (aka C-137's theme), removing only one note and slowing it down to make it sound more sinister. You can actually hear this best/clearest when Prime's leitmotif is played during C-137's rant in the season 6 finale, near the end, because the scene has to transition to the ending credits music (C-137's theme), which is cut off in this clip, but you can still hear the beginning of it:
youtube
The Rick and Morty opening theme is blended into Prime's theme.
So in conclusion, Prime's theme is an evil-ifed version of C-137's theme, making the two characters very very linked. More linked than any other alternate version of Rick. Using a very specific set of notes that represents death, obsessive love, and facing a day of judgement. Something C-137 will have to reckon with when he reunites with Prime.

hi rick and morty fans here. whats your favourite episode type like 84729200 words about it GO
hi anon my favorite episodes are the evil morty ones but im only gonna briefly touch on them in this random ramble
i think rick and morty does a really fucking good job of capturing the liikeeeee .... i just wanna call it the emotional landscape of white american suburbia, the hell that is childhood in the nuclear family, and just emotional abuse in general. now obvious disclaimer: if you like any show set with a family in the suburbs enough you can make this argument. and you know what thats so fair i wont even argue against anyone who wants to say that to me. BUT i think the evil morty adds like just enough to analyze that take rnm from something im projecting my own political views onto to a show thats actualyl bringing something to the table
people on this webbed site absolutely despise that rick and morty wants to be an episodic show with mostly self contained episodes. its honestly like... a little funny to me because this facet is so central to the shows core message. just like watching people cleverly but desperately poke at moments of character growth that are forgotten about literally a scene later. so why dont we stop fighting the writing direction and like work with this idea a little. i put forward this: theyre trapped.
many seem to feel that rick crashing into prime's family's house was the mark of a new beginning for rick. i think he traded the absolute freedom (as hegel would put it) of space for another realm where he can honestly do whatever the fuck he wants with little pushback with the added bonus of having a patriarchal chokehold over most of the family. theyre not going to leave him like other ppl in his life did. and he sure as hell isnt going to let them die again.
ugh this is sorta vague but i kinda dont feel like typing more. idk. please send questions for me to elaborate on specific points

The Fanfics For Each Of My Selfships (and whether I've written them yet)
Jester No, I haven't written it! But it would be a series of oneshots starting with my s/i leaving home, then travelling through the country, then meeting the Mighty Nein, and I'd skip through canon events from there <3
Tate Yes, I've written the first 15k words but haven't actually gotten to Tate yet :P It's a complete rewrite, starting with my s/i moving into the house and slowly meeting the neighbors, the residents, and figuring out the secrets
Himiko Yes, I wrote the first couple of chapters as a reader-insert fic before I officially made it a self-insert! It was a fic where each chapter was going to be the reader getting with another member of the League of Villains, and it would go through each one with a smut scene to explore their character and relationship.
Tomura I've written the first chapter twice but I don't know where I keep saving it. But yes, I want to write a reader-insert fic where they meet when Tomura is de-aged and the reader takes care of him and then he disappears and then the whole slow developments happen from there
Vox and Valentino Nope, but I think it would be fun! A reader-insert fic that doesn't really do any character development, but is just basically an opportunity to request your favourite Hazbin character getting dommed? That sounds like a good time.
Evil Slasher Orphanage No, I don't think I'd write a fanfiction in that universe, but maybe it would be fun! I'll have to think more about it. I feel like I care too much about them and I'd want it to be a 100k monstrosity and I'd never have the energy to make it happen.
(secondaries under the cut)
Alex No, I haven't written a fic for us. Throwing myself that heavily into Nadsat might strike me dead.
The Joker Yes, I wrote a fanfiction with my self-insert back when the selfship first happened! A lot of my lore is pulled directly from that fic.
Toshinori Yagi I haven't written our fanfiction, and I don't have any plans to: but I wouldn't be opposed to it! It would make a weird reader-insert fic because my Quirk is so specific, but at the same time, I don't know if I'd want to write it as a selfship fic. You know?
Zero Rick Nah, I don't have much interest in writing for the Rick and Morty multiverse. It's such a distinctly video format, with all the rambling and vocal quirks: I don't often enjoy reading fics about the characters, and I can't imagine I'd enjoy writing them.
Valerie Frizzle We're such a domestic selfship I have no idea what I would actually write about! Maybe a oneshot about us getting together?
Oops I ran out of energy but I'll say that I've written the first 7k of my Monokuma selfship fic, and the first chapter or two of my Dirk selfship! And the first 4 chapters of my Jonah Magnus selfship fic, which is probably one of the ones I'm proudest of.
I think that writing my Cecil selfship would be fun, but I don't think I'm interested in the rest of them.

Do I Follow Them? Chloé and I go waaaay back! Damn, how long has it been now? 3 years? Longer? Many seasons in any case x'D We've written a lot together, in several fandoms and verses and every single one has been a delight.
Why Did I Follow Them? If I'm not mistaken, she approached me from Fish blog for...uh, I can't even remember which muse of mine we used first and foremost. I don't think it was Will nor Abigail because I added them later 🤔 Well, in any case, I was presented with this amazingly solid character, written by someone who is so very talented in both writing and arting. I would have been a fool to turn her down! Fish is lovable in all her iterations, even the ones where she's anything but a good person, and she's incredibly versatile, which makes writing with her with basically all the possible characters really easy! Imagine my delight when I found out about the multimuse 😎
Do We Role Play? Do most human beings perceive the sky as blue? xD Duh. I don't dare to count how many threads we have (and yes, Chloé, I know that they aren0t many for your standards, but I travel at a whole different wavelength xD). We use basically all my main muses with plenty of theirs! We've built and discussed a lot of dynamics and each of them has a special place in my heart 🖤
Do I Want To Role Play With Them: Abso-fucking-lutely YEAH! Chloé is one of my mains and a dear friend by now, so I hope that we'll write together for as long as possible. Plus, there are a few interactions we are planning that I'm very eager to explore, so I'm looking forward to when my slow ass will find the time to get them started!
An AU Idea For Our Muses: Oh damn, we're already doing a couple of AUs and I'm kind of drawing a blank on more ideas. Off the top of my head? An AU where my Smith trio has supernatural adventures instead of sci-fi adventures (very much Ghostbuster like, as a vibe, but not limited to ghost) and they have to deal with Salomé in her demon verse or with Vampire Fish?
A Song For Our Muses: "Ticking Bombs" by Eyes Set to Kill for Rick & Fish, "Bring me to Life" by Evanescence for Summer & Salomé :3
Do I Ship Our Muses? YES, and that goes for all our ships, and we have a lot xD On this blog we have Salomé & Summer's high school romance, Bill & Salomé's arranged marriage, Rick & Fish's ex-spouse / current fuck buddies, Morty & Teen FIsh's embarrassing crushes on each other. And then there's a lot of platonic relationships (Bill & Noah, Evil Morty & AISHA, Morty & Fish, Summer & Fish, Mabel & Eve). And there's definitely more to come (special mention for Ivy & Harley 😎). But in any case, Y E S.
What I Think About The Mun: What good things can I not say about Chloé? I've praised her and her skills plenty of times. She's an amazing write, a wonderful mutual, a super talented artist and a great friend. I'm so, so, so glad to have crossed paths with her. Her friendship means a lot to me and she's been there for me when I needed it. Not to mention that they are one of my favourite writing partners, and I love every interaction we have, no matter how small!!🖤🖤
Overall Opinion: I could say a lot, but I'll sum it up like this: if you're not writing with Chloé, you're missing out one of the best RP partners you'll ever find on this hellsit.

all of ‘em for the rnm ask meme 🤭❤️
Yessss!!! Link to the original in case anyone else wants to reblog/play.
Who is your favourite Rick and Morty Character? This is like asking my favorite It's Always Sunny character... because I love them all for their terribleness. Probably Rick, though Rick wouldn't be nearly as compelling without Morty. Favorite side character would be Squanchyyyyy or Mr. Nimbus.
Which Beth is the clone: Domestic Beth or Space Beth? As a mom, I want to say Domestic Beth is the real one because a parent wouldn't leave their kids... except this is Beth Smith we're talking about, so I think Domestic Beth is the clone. I think our "scared little overachiever" pursued freedom when she knew her family had a fallback.
Do you think that Rick-C137 and Rick Prime were previously romantically involved? "Infinite shit happens." Yes, absolutely.
What do you think would be a good name for Birdperson and Tammy's daughter? Phoenixperson II aka PP aka Peepa (terrible The Office reference).
How many seasons do you think Rick and Morty will eventually have? No clue but I'm here for alllll of them.
Rick C-137: smash or pass? Smash.
Who is your favourite Rick and Morty villain? Evil Morty. I love that manipulative little asshole who found a way out.
Your favourite Rick and Morty episode? How do you pick just one ;_; For Rick's character development, I'd say Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort. Seeing Rick deal with his feelings for others always hits me hard because he spends so much time denying those feelings. For fun, I'd go with Mort Dinner Rick Andre because I love Mr. Nimbus and I also love seeing Jessica become more than just Morty's obsession.
Your least favourite Rick and Morty episode? One Crew over the Crewcoo's Morty (the popular choice seems to be Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty but I love the slut dragons--currently fostering four cats for a friend while said friend is moving, the youngest is female and going through her first heat, and I will randomly mimic the wizard when she's yowling: "You slut! Shame on you! Shame, you slut! You slutty, slutty slut!" I am giving her lots of lovings and she has a heating pad, though, so she's okay).
Who is your least favourite Rick and Morty character? Beth and Jerry without character development (pre-separation).
What is, in your opinion, the worst thing that Rick C-137 has ever done? Real answer: use his grandson the way he does (codependent, grooming, the list goes on and on). Fan answer: torn between taking Morty's memories and the "save a point in time device" from Vat of Acid.
Do you think that Rick and Morty will be affected substantially by having to change the voice actor for Rick and Morty and a bunch of other characters? Affected, yes. Substantially... I don't know but I'll give anything a shot, especially since Adult Swim did the right thing dropping JR. The cool thing about the show is that there are infinite (heh) ways they can address this, if they choose to address it at all, so I'm excited to see what happens next.
What's a good Rick and Morty blog? All the Rick and Morty peeps I follow are awesome! I hesitate to recommend anyone I don't interact with because DNIs pop up all the time based on stuff I saved in my drafts and later go to queue and have to delete because they have some hateful anti/TERF rhetoric going on, so check out my reblogs and likes to find my favorites. :D
Who is the Rick and Morty character that you relate to the most? This ties back in with IASIP. I don't really relate to any of them, I just enjoy them and their fucked up relationships and situations.
The funniest Rick and Morty bit/scene, in your opinion? This is the one that hooked me on the show, the moment I knew I was a goner for these assholes: Butter robot: What is my purpose? Rick: Pass the butter. (Butter robot passes butter) Rick: Thank you. […] Butter robot: What is my purpose? Rick: You pass butter. Butter robot: [looks at its hands] Oh my god. Rick: Yeah, welcome to the club, pal.
Best Rick and Morty season? My favorite so far has been season 6 (they did such a good job with character development, including Rick backsliding into his obsession with Prime--just chef's kiss).
Worst Rick and Morty season? I've enjoyed all of them so far for different reasons. Much like some of my other favorites (The Office, IASIP), I would say push through season 1 if you're unsure and wait until you get through season 2 before you make a decision about the show.
Would you stop watching the show if Justin Roiland returned? I don't know. Depends on whether a public statement was involved and how much responsibility he took for his actions (versus playing it off). I can't listen to Marilyn Manson anymore (because Brian Warner is an abusive POS) and that band was formative during my middle + high school years (almost as important to me as NIN and I would mourn that loss if Trent Reznor turned out to be trash). Roiland coming back might ruin the show for me.
Your favourite Rick and Morty quote? Hard to pick but right now it would be: "Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's gonna die. Come watch TV." This gets me right in the feels because it's true. Life is short, probably meaningless, so might as well enjoy while we're here and have a chance... because this all ends.
If you had to be one member of the Smith family in the next season, who would you want to be? Ooo, I'd want to be Space Beth.

I like to be called: Rin
First language: English!

One thing you should know about me: I'm a very chill, random person, i don't take myself seriously at all and honestly, people shouldn't take me seriously either. I'm literally a gremlin who stays up for too long in the dark hours of the night xD oh and sometimes i'm chaotic and evil >:D and I will throw angst at you any chance i get
Thing you should know about rping with my character(s): My muses have the "unreliable narrator" syndrome, so anything that they might say that's the opposite or different from what i have on the about / what happened in canon, it's because they just refuse to admit what really happened. (Rick with his origin story & Morty with just a bit of everything). Also, Rick & Morty both have reputations so don't let their one side of them fool you into thinking otherwise~
I okay with nsfw? yes | no | some nsfw { i'm real selective about it tho }
My favourite/most common thing to rp is: angst | fluff | smut | crack | action | plots | AUs | violence | darker themes | other
This RP blog: does contain ooc posts | doesn’t contain ooc posts | occasionally contains ooc { i literally talk too much for my own good }
