Coming in at number 1, getting the gold: LITERALLY ALL THE HIJABIS IN WE ARE LADY PARTS like the variation in hijabs alone is so beautiful I love it, iykyk, Stream Bashir with the Good Beard. Furthermore they seem to want to rid Blair from all the things that make her Blair (like her ruthlessness and scheming)

hi!! this is such a good question tysm and this is gonna be long so I hope u don't mind 🫶🏻 I think generally yes d*ir fans do seem to be more fans of dan than they are of blair, and I think there are a few reasons (that I've seen) for this. some of it comes from penn badgley fans as a lot of ppl who discovered him from you on netflix have then watched gg and like dan purely bc it's him. some of it also comes from this rehash of the idea that chuck's "bad" bc of the pilot and ignoring his development, and dan's "good" bc... he's not chuck lol.

ur right in that a lot of them don't want blair to be, well, herself. as I said in my other meta post there's a lot of focus on how blair's "better" when she's with dan. she doesn't scheme, she doesn't do anything, really, except from talk about movies and artists. they think that this watered down version of blair is her true self, even though if u watch the previous 4 and a half seasons it's obvious that's just not true. they want blair to be this girl who's content to spend her days visiting museums and waiting around for dan who she's clearly not. there's nothing wrong with her that dan needs to fix, and chuck didn't corrupt her. she can be interested in art and movies and still scheme and be mean. there's no mutual exclusivity to any of her personality traits, they can all co-exist and are what make her blair. like chuck said in s2 it's stupid to want her to be anything other than what she is.

also, ur so right again in that they ignore blair's mental state. she's obviously not in a good place in s5 and probably shouldn't jump into any relationship after her divorce. but dan pushes her into it. throughout the show she belittles him, insults him, makes fun of serena dating him, and generally just doesn't like him. while they're dating she still doesn't seem that keen on him. there's talk of how she's happier and smiling all the time with dan, but she's not. she effectively throws a tantrum being seen out with him and she can't celebrate his career, she instead undermines and upstages him. her behaviour doesn't seem like someone who's found her perfect match. it seems like someone who's in a confusing transitional period of her life and clings to the nearest man, like she did with carter in s2. if dan was this great perfect man he'd say he couldn't date her right away, let her sort herself out. but no, he forces her to be more than just friends bc, where she's so isolated from everyone else, if she loses him then she loses her only support system (the fact that she becomes so reliant on dan humphrey in the wake of her miscarriage is something for another post) so she kind of has to get into a relationship with him, even though she's not ready mentally.

in terms of liking blair, I think that most d*ir fans like their own version of blair, instead of the canon version. this might be connected to them often preferring dan, and then they just project traits onto blair that aren't hers. I don't know why they don't do this to serena btw, bc her relationship with dan is significantly more important, and she was far more willing to do "ordinary" things with him than blair. ultimately I think they want d*ir, and blair individually, to be something they're not and were never going to be. d*ir isn't sethmer or paceyjoey or whoever else they compare them to. blair isn't someone they can shape into fitting their ideas like dan does, she's her own distinct character and if they don't like her then they should admit it instead of mischaracterising her

hello YES! i enjoy our rich disaster gay trio sitcom (/dramedy) headcanon chats! work with for the other two so it would largely be headcanons anyway. i decided to go with jenny since the others don't have much canon to work with.

How I feel about this character: my beloved <3 more seriously, she's the character in gossip girl i find most interesting so this is going to be. long. anyway. she can be flawed and self-righteous and self-destructive and petty and she can be awfully, egregiously cruel, she knows how to take someone's insecurities or mistakes and hit them where it already hurts -- and despite all that, she's so sympathetic. because she's also ambitious and creative and starts off the show so optimistic and relatively happy-go-lucky, even with her parents' separation. she's cutthroat because she HAS to be, because she would never be able to hang in the upper east side if she wasn't, and that's the path she sees towards her dreams and doesn't she deserve her dreams? she knows she can hack it if she can just GET THROUGH THE DOOR. she's funny and charming and witty and SAD, sadder than i think anyone in the show realizes until she's imploded by the end of season three. she develops this armor of black clothes and sharp eyeliner and bitchy witticisms in season two and season three even moreso and so many people see this as character derailment or think it makes her awful or irredeemable somehow but i look at her and see a girl who's been tread on too many times, with chuck and with damien and with agnes and the guys in the club and what they almost did. with her father, even, and his lack of ability or willingness to understand where she's coming from, that she's not just sad or lonely at school, she's in DANGER. (evidence: the reference to the fact that apparently everyone except two girls in her chem class apparently tried to light her hair on fire?) so she builds up walls and she isolates and she makes decisions that maybe aren't great but she doesn't have the support she needs and all of this makes me feel so soft and sad for her and protective OF her and protective, even, of her right to be flawed, of her right to make mistakes. every other character in the show has equally (or even worse) egregious flaws that get excused or hand-waved by not only the fandom, by the narrative. jenny is held to a much different standard. the narrative screws her and casts her aside (and yes, i get that taylor momsen wanted to leave, i respect it, and i even respect that it's a teen drama and her exit was always going to be a little dramatic, but they did not have to do what they did) and if they didn't think all of this was the perfect storm for me to emotionally adopt her into the list of blorbos in constant rotation in my head-oven well. they've got another thing coming. tldr; jenny is the Born To Die trope except it's more like Metaphysical Innocence Born To Be "Corrupted". it's so clear what they're doing even in the pilot. i will go to my grave defending her.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: jenny x therapy LMAO. actually answer is uhhh idk. might be easier to give a list of my DEFINITE NOTPS (easily guessable, i'd assume.) i simultaneously DO headcanon jenny as having had a crush on blair and think they have interesting dynamic (and lots of angst and turmoil and admiration/jealousy psuedo-political warfare that makes me understand why people DO ship it) while also not really wanting it be like. A Thing. (i also think their relationship was too fraught and blair in particular was too awful to jenny for them to ever have a healthy romantic relationship, so.) i have... a soft spot for nate and jenny let's say? i don't think canon was the right time for them to be together, obviously, and i can easily see how some of her feelings could come across as comphet (especially with him being so constantly unavailable). at the same time, i think they have a lot of sweet moments that are rooted in like, affection and genuinely liking who the other person is. he's very gentle with her and i think jenny could have used a lot more gentle moments in the show. at the same time, i'm not sure they're ultimately the right fit for each other, and i don't really imagine that they're "end game", so to speak, but i do like reading the occasional post-canon fic about them. so that's where i land on them, i supposed. in actuality, i think jenny probably realizes she's queer in some capacity eventually, but that's a whole other question lmao.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: jenny and eric! but also jenny and dan! but also jenny and serena!! it's hard to pick lmao. i think the show does a pretty decent job showing the complexities of the friendship between jenny and eric given eric's limited screentime lmao. i think they hit something very grounded and real with eric and jenny's back and forth, which how much they love and need each other and also can't stand each other half the time, how their introduction was a really simple moment of jenny showing him compassion and him meeting her back with that effort full-force, with how they both value each other more than is common in heterosexual romance-based western cultures but also can't or won't or don't know that they need to or how to admit that to one another. it's a very honest depiction of a friendship at this age and of this kind, at least for me.

i was about to say that my feelings about dan and jenny are simpler, but i don't know if that's true? i might be repeating myself here, but if there's one thing gossip girl does well, it's grounded and realistic dynamics. they tease each other lightly and they tease each other too harshly sometimes, they fight, and they try to understand each other but often can't, they secret-keep for each other until that's no longer viable, and they do their best to protect one another and it's all just so balanced. one scene that stands out to me is when jenny steals the dress in season one and dan goes into talk to her and it's so clear he's had to take on somewhat of a parental role with her since their mom has been gone? and i'm sure that's frustrating for both jenny and for dan. but despite taking on this role of care, he doesn't treat her condescendingly or with any ire, he tries to be understanding and careful and thoughtful where rufus couldn't be. and while i'd say the show does a disservice to their relationship as time wears on, i think when dan gets the CHANCE to be a good big brother to her, he always always is. he tries to do right by her and even in her harsher, more isolating days, she still tries to trust him and lets herself be jenny around him moreso than she knows how to do with other people.

with jenny and serena -- i think i love what their dynamic could have been more than what it was? watching the pilot for the first time, i was sure there were going to be more big sisterly moments between them, but they end up going for conflict instead. which is understandable; like i said, it IS a drama. but serena tries so hard to be kind to jenny in the first season and while jenny wants to BE blair, i think serena's kindness lets her hold onto her dream a little longer, imagine that there's a world where she gets in with the in-crowd and someone like serena is there to back her up. i also think there's a really intriguing theme of jenny's arc paralleling what's serena's been through in terms of assault and sexual exploitation. the "the sixteen year old virgin" really exemplifies how serena WANTS to protect jenny from going down a path of self-destruction that could lead to her getting hurt even more. and just. that's an interesting but woefully underexplored dynamic. she also has the best approach (at first) in that episode which is to just like. talk to jenny like a peer. explain her worries over a shared pint of ice cream. it's only when she panics and starts Plotting that it becomes Too Much. anyway. there's a world in which their relationship was meatier and i want to live in it!

My unpopular opinion about this character: she deserved way better than the narrative throwing her under the bus to prioritize ch*ck.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i think i wish dan would have found out somehow about jenny getting drugged by agnes. on the one hand, nate telling him maybe would Kind of Not Be Cool, buuut it's tv the characters are allowed to be flawed and messy. plus! it makes the most sense. i feel genuinely feel that if dan found that out, she would be able to open up to him and they would figure out what was best for her (going to stay with their mom for senior year, lots and lots of therapy) sooner and without the ch*ck of it all.

basic concept is blaire's been stuck in a time loop for a long time (the ref says over three years but idk if im going to keep it as that) and clover accidentally gets stuck with him. blaire is initally pretty excited to have her around until it's obvious that their viewpoints clash majorly LMAO. blaire's been in the loop for long enough that its accepted that its never getting out and maybe if i die this time, maybe it'll be for real. meanwhile clover is desperate to get out and is trying any possibility except Dying. so uhh they end up hating each, well its more one sided bc clover thinks that blaire knows more than hes letting on and is suspicious of him and blaire just wants clover to chill tf out. i have more thought out but thats just the jist!

Terminator Salvation is my favorite of the Terminator movies (yes I'm trash and I'm proud) but I remember seeing it when I was younger and being devastated at how it ended. Here's where I fix things. Btw, Marcus is ace, and he and Blair are in a queer platonic relationship. I thought the kiss at the end was always kinda rushed and came out of nowhere. “His… heart… can’t take it,” John Connor’s had widow said. Except she wasn’t his fucking widow, yet. The man was still alive, barely. Wouldn’t be for long, though. Marcus couldn’t believe he was still breathing.

Wouldn’t be for long, though. Wouldn’t be long. The metal shard had gone all the way through him. So many other people would have already been dead from that. It was only a matter of time.

There was still something that could be done, though. There was still something they could try, even if they didn’t have the nice, shiny hospitals and shit that John Connor needed right now. If the guy needed a heart, well. There was an extra one wandering around, piloted by a robot – a ghost that should have died fifteen years ago but was still alive, even after the entire goddamn world had been blasted away.

Second chance, my ass.

“Kate.” His voice was strong, that was good. He had already died once. This should be easy. “Take mine.”

“Marcus…”

Fuck.

Blair’s hand would have been crushing his wrist, if he was flesh and blood. Instead, it only registered as pressure. How did I not notice that before? He loosened her fingers from his arm, held them tightly in his own metal ones. “Everyone deserves a second chance,” he whispered. “This is mine.”

She recoiled from him. “This isn’t… bullshit, Marcus… this isn’t… killing you isn’t—”

“It’s my choice,” Marcus said. He gritted his teeth together when his voice broke. He needed her to back him up on this, dammit, or he was going to lose his nerve.

“Don’t do this,” she said flatly – a plea.

He drew in a slow breath and let it out through his lips. His hands were shaking, so he squeezed hers tighter. “If he dies,” he said, “You lose this war. If you lose me…” Painfully, he released his fingers and pulled them out of her grip.

“I can’t fucking watch this,” she hissed, and stalked away. She swiped at her eyes with her sleeve as she went.

Marcus swallowed the terror that he could feel rising in his throat and turned to Kate once more. “Let’s do this,” he mumbled. “Before he… runs out of time.”

Kate’s chin wobbled, and more tears spilled down her cheeks. Star clasped Marcus’s hand in her small one. Kyle met his eyes; his mouth was too dry to speak.

It all felt so coldly familiar, as Marcus laid back on the cot next to John Connor. He didn’t fight as they slid the needle into his arm – he wouldn’t have wanted to. These past few days had all been borrowed time, and he had felt every minute of them like a throb of pain. If he could save someone this time – if his life could really mean something, not just research for some fucked-up military bullshit – this seemed like a small price.

He was so, so tired of living.

As he glanced at John, he allowed himself a moment of envy. John was going to keep living in this world, this bombed-out world, with all these people who loved and followed him. He belonged here. Marcus couldn’t justify living, if it meant taking this man away from the people he could save.

The meds were kicking in, he could tell. He was floating away from his body, far from this world and the pain he had caused it. Light poured into his eyes from above him. Kate stepped into his view just as he drifted away.

While I've seen plenty of criticisms of Outlast for ableism/stigmatizing mental illness (because your enemies are murder-happy asylum inmates), I honestly beg to differ—at least for the most part. For one thing, only a handful of inmates actually attack you. Most of the other patients there are either in shock or just trying to lay low and stay alive through all the chaos going on around them. Even the more proactive of the non-combatant characters, such as the pyro you encounter in the kitchen, are just trying to get out—and their desperation is made to be pretty relatable. Even the boss characters like Chris Walker and Eddie Gluskin were victims of the asylum. For crying out loud, the Whistleblower DLC opens with Eddie getting dragged into the morphogenic engine kicking and screaming and begging for help—it's what solidifies Waylon Park's determination to take down Murkoff. Even when you find Eddie's files later on and see that, yes, he was already a murderer before he wound up in Mount Massive, that also comes with notes about the sexual abuse he experienced as a child and his denial of it. It doesn't excuse his actions—of course it doesn't—but it shows that he didn't become the way he is from nothing. Furthermore, the entire Mount Massive arc focuses so heavily on the theme of abuse of power. The patients are enduring horrific experimentation at the hands of people like Blair and Trager, and that is what sets up the rest of the story. The people running the show are the catalysts for all hell breaking loose—not the patients, who are instead victims of a system that is exploiting them by pushing them past their mental and physical limits, and has no qualms about treating them as replaceable test subjects. They are already sick people thrust into terrifying circumstances. Some of them were already dangerous to begin with, but most of them were not. They were all in a place that was supposed to help them cope with their conditions and rehabilitate, but instead were exploited and had their issues exacerbated by being traumatized further, and that's part of what makes Outlast terrifying.  So yeah, the portrayal of mentally ill people in Outlast isn't phenomenal, sure, but it goes beyond making all the patients out to be horrible monsters. Most of them are just trying to stay out of all the awful shit going on and stay alive without completely breaking down. The games still makes you feel for those people after you see how desperate and terrified a lot of them are, due mainly because of the abuses they have suffered from the people who were supposed to help them.

I hope I’m not high on copium but that makes sense. Trailers are supposed to make you wonder, drive curiosity and only show hints of the plot.

Especially in mysteries, which Rebirth is essentially turning out to be. The devs have said more than enough times they want us to not know what’s going on. Trailers for mysteries will always set you up to believe a certain narrative is true, only for the twist to hit much harder. Would the Sixth Sense be as good if the trailer revealed the twist? Or the Blair Witch Project? No.

The problem they have is us Clotis know the plot hardcore haha. So them trying to create a mystery and make us be like “wait, are they changing it?! Now I have to play to find out!” Has instead made us like “Ew, why are you doing this? Skip.” I guess the point was the trailer wasn’t for us. They know we’ll buy because we’re the die hards. I’m guessing it was attempt to boost sales from the other side… which leaves me to wonder how they’ll tackle part 3.

Nomura is an S grade troll too and he's behind the trailers, so ofc he's gonna get back at the idiots who sent him death threats.

Seeing how Rebirth ends with Aerith's death I'd assume the trailers for part three would hint at Cloud's collapsing mental state and maybe have a few lines from Tifa after he's gone missing. If the trailers aren't dark and angsty af then I'd be surprised. They should also show some of Wutai and Cid and Vincent being playable since they'd be full party members by then. Idk what they'd do with Zack but I'd also expect to see him since he's the solution to the mystery. What I don't wanna see is Aerith monopolising things when she's dead af and not in the game except as a cameo. I'd honestly be annoyed if they pulled the same shit again instead of being properly creative with the plot hints.

I kept this ask for far too long and planned to write an Entire Scene out using the cast of Crater City, except it never came to fruition! But I can try to describe to the best of my ability what I had in mind, hehe!

For sure, Frasier would pay for everyone's tickets (except for Darcy because he's mean), and they would probably go watch the Lego Batman movie together because I said so.

Blair and Elijah would sit in the very back, top row. Blair would talk and giggle the whole time, making crude jokes or references while Elijah tries so hard not to laugh or encourage him, but he can't cant really help it. There's a 90% chance Blair winds up making coke shoot out of Elijah's nose after a batman x joker ship comment.

Darcy and Frasier would sit closer to the front/bottom row of the theater to get away from those idiots. Darcy is pissed Blair said something potentially spoiler-y before the movie started by Frasier is like, "Chill tf out, man, it's literally just a kid's movie." But Darcy wants his money's worth, goddammit.

Frasier is also busy trying to tell Blair and Elijah to stfu (via glares/hand motions) and to let them enjoy the movie and that they don't need security kicking them out of a flick again.

Meanwhile, Darcy has trouble with a teenager kicking his seat (totally not based on a true story). Frasier is like bro chill tf out, you're being louder than Blair and Elijah rn, stop fighting with a teenager. The teens just call Darcy old and that he looks like a poorly AI rendered image of Timothée Chalamet, which he takes offense to.

"Forty is not old, I'm not even close middle-aged yet!" Darcy is agitated.

"You have about 10 more years." The teen retorts.

"Oh, you wanna argue about the sudden spike in average human lifespan over the past fifty years? Because we can go there—"

"Darcy! Are you really arguing with a kid about your age in a movie theater? Stop being so immature." Frasier is so close to pulling the "idk who this man is but he's not mine" card but decides he's the only responsible adult here and can't back out.

Anyway, security has been called, and Darcy is definitely not having it. He wages a verbal battle with security, disturbing everyone else in the cinema, and embarrassing Elijah and Frasier in the process. He goes on about his hardships as mayor and having to deal with an impudent worm kicking his seat from behind (which security couldn't give 2 shits about). Darcy says something along the lines of "We paid for this movie and you'll have to fight my lawyers and I'm the mayor dammit," and so security backs off. Now everyone else in the Lego Batman movie theater is disgruntled at the disturbance. You can cut the tension with a super sharp knife.

Darcy turns to Blair and Elijah, who promptly stfu bc of his death glare. Frasier is concerned that Darcy raised more hell than it's worth all for a shitty movie, but tbh Darcy just likes to use his mayor card.

After the movie ends, they get up to leave, with all eyes on them until they make it to the parking lot. It also turns out that that thing Blair said off hand ended up being a spoiler, and Frasier almost beats the shit out of him, but this time Darcy is the one who has to hold him back. "It's ok, Frasier! We all saw it coming anyway!"

The teens who bullied Darcy come out of the theater to mock him again, but Fraiser flips them off, then security is called once again. And now all 4 of our characters are stuck at the police station with Darcy trying to bail them out, all the while Frasier glares at all three of them with disappointment. Blair is like, "This is definitely going on my 'pissed authority off' bingo board." Elijah rolls his eyes. At least they weren't in any mortal danger, he reasons.

kb and jack were talking on their stream yesterday that this year's hallowstream feels truly unhinged in a fun and unique way (jack saying they try to make art that matches what they're doing in their life and how this stream has really felt like moving cross-country and kb saying "it really feels like you guys moved with us") and it really has felt extra wild and silly and "less professional" than their others but its also been SO fun for them to start the stream with kb secretly turning on the stream and telling us all to be quiet so we can hear jack playing piano, or showing us the whole hot-water-crust pie they baked fresh out of the oven and cutting into it on stream with the camera fully focused on it (except when jack swung the camera back to themself to do a blair witch monologue) or jack catching a fruit fly that survived falling into their wine and asking chat if they wanted to see it or excitedly playing hot cross buns on the trombone they got from the thrift store for $70... idk how to describe it without sounding hopelessly parasocial but this year's hallowstream has felt a lot more like going over to your friends house to sit on the couch and watch them play a scary video game and its been sooooooo fun and nice

Hii for your Chair question: what do you think their pre-series relationship was like? Any headcanons for the NJBC as childhood friends? Imo there's so much untapped potential in their early dynamic, it's hard not to wonder if there was always a little spark they always suppressed because Blair was always in love with Nate and Chuck would never do anything to betray his best friend. I'll always hate that we only got one (Chuck-less) NJBC flashback scene! 😭

hi!! ohh this is such a fun question tysm 🫶🏻🫶🏻 I definitely think there was something between them pre-series as in 1x03 they've obviously schemed together a lot (and blair doesn't want nate to know which is so interesting and I think speaks to the fact that no-one understands the real blair except chuck as clearly nate wouldn't get her scheming) and their cute moments in the limo in the pilot. I think that neither of them would've ever admitted it bc as u said she was nate's perfect gf and he was nate's best friend, and tbh I think they were probably a little oblivious to the depth of their feelings. I know some ppl think chuck loved blair before the pilot but imo he just saw her as a friend and scheming partner. I do think they did things together that they couldn't do with anyone else, and have their own little jokes and references and things like that, while nate and serena had no idea what they were talking about 😭😭 also chuck definitely talked about his sex life openly with blair while she pretended to be disgusted but she was secretly fascinated (and maybe a little curious about him 😏) and she definitely complained about nate to him. I have this idea that in the not quite a year serena was gone blair and chuck spent a lot more one-on-one time together that helped strengthen their friendship, and chuck listened to her rant about everything without judgement

in terms of the njbc in their childhood I headcanon that they went to the same kindergarten/elementary school (blair and serena met as babies as did chuck and nate, and the 4 of them actually met as like 2 year olds) and chair were a little chaotic duo. like if some girl stole blair's crayons she and chuck would plan something to take her down, meanwhile serena's like I can eat candy!!!! and nate's trying to tie his own shoes. I think they'd all go the cinema and theatre together and watch the most random things bc they could and they'd take turns choosing (bc of this chuck and nate have seen legally blonde and clueless and blair and serena have seen every mission impossible film and the matrix)

also idk if this counts but I think blair would've had a "coming out" party with nate like she did in s5, except it made more sense bc she was 12, but didn't tell nate so he just turns up at her penthouse with chuck and they're like whaaat and then they basically have a tea party with blair, serena and blair's minions. chuck thinks it's hilarious.

I’m still kinda confined to bed so I’m gonna talk about some mobies I watched recently!!

dashcam: so the way this was described by reviewers that i follow was like “protagonist is awful, horror is great,” and yeah that about sums it up! but like I said in my post that kinda makes the horror work for me bc im like yes please bad things should happen to bad people. I would say im sure she’s very lovely in real life but like i think the point is that she is not. I would watch it again.

disenchanted: this movie was uhhh kinda bad!! bad writing, especially the song lyrics, I actually could do an autopsy of this bc I turned into That Bitch tm while watching it like 🤓 um actually these are plot holes but idk it didn’t, hmm how to put this, respect its audience I guess? I have large reserves of WSOD but there was no internal consistency to what we were working with. that aside it LOOKED gorgeous, the FITS in this my god, everybody was stunning at all times

falling for christmas aka the lindsay lohan christmas movie: like, I think most people going into this film know what they’re about to get and as long as you stand by those expectations you won’t be disappointed. except why was santa there, why was he real, and why was he so creepy, what was that all about, somebody needed to tell whoever thought that was a good idea that they were wrong about that and probably a lot of other things in life I have to believe!!!!! we stan tad tho. what a weird little twink.

the last broadcast: this was a movie Ryan hollinger was covering and it’s free on tubi so I was like all right heck yeah I’ll go watch that then come back and it’s a pretty wild ride! It’s a found footage that predates Blair witch by a couple years and I don’t think it’s as good as Blair witch but it’s not what you expect. like I very much appreciate what they were going for here and I think I’m gonna watch it again soon. kinda camp but with found footage production idk if that makes sense.

the McPherson tape/ufo abduction (the 1989 one): another found footage that Ryan covered that is free on pluto! pluto the app not pluto the dwarf planet you don’t have to go that far. the tension in this movie feels real!! this is real stressed family gathering energy. also I just like found footage i am an easy sell.

pearl: this movie is very different to x!! but I liked it a lot it is very very good. not super scary, the tension in that scene near the end is killer tho. more of a character study than a standard slasher like x was. also very stylized in a cool way like it really evokes of all things wizard of oz which is deliberate to my knowledge. just a good movie and mia goth is so incredibly talented. looking forward to maxine!!!

spy x family: not a movie but i did binge it over a couple days and i have no regrets. do people have good fic to hand, im going to go looking, I need for them to KISS ALRSADY GOD

cabinet of curiosities: not a movie either but do yourself a favor and just watch it. i know I like anthologies more than the average person but this is guillermo del toro-curated! and he introduces every episode and director so you get to see him! eight episodes. go do it.

I also did a rewatch of the happy death days with Phil those are such a delight im glad I could share them 🤗 and a rewatch of till death bc it slaps.

2024 Horror Challenge: [22/?]

Plot: A normal Friday service at a fast food restaurant becomes interrupted by a police officer who claims an employee stole from a customer, but something more sinister is going on.

Starring: Ann Dowd, Dreama Walker, Pat Healy & Bill Camp

Now, it is slightly pushing it by including this movie under the label of horror since this actually leans way more into a crime thriller but the truly horrific thing about it is that this is something that really happened. And they barely changed a thing except for certain details like names and places, probably for legal reasons. I watched the Netflix docuseries when it came out so I already knew about it but that didn't make the watch any easier. If anything, I was amazed that they didn't try to water it down since you know, Hollywood likes to do that. What's interesting is that I've always wanted to watch this movie in the past simply because of that poster, without actually reading the plot summary and knowing what it was about. It's eye-grabbing enough. I just never got around to it, possibly because I could sense it was disturbing, but one of my fave YouTubers always mentions this movie so I finally checked it out. Now, as an actual movie, watchers are going to be annoyed at every single one of these characters. It's a story very hard to believe because you'd like to hope that people aren't this gullible and frankly, dumb. And yet, it happened. Props to Ann Dowd and Dreama Walker carrying this thing. Ann is pretty much a character actor that you can count on to always give a good performance and it's hard not to hate her character tbh. Dreama Walker I know best from her stint on Gossip Girl as Blair's minion Hazel and honestly, I think she deserves more credit for her work here. She did not have an easy task and I truly felt for her. People think her character didn't protest enough throughout and I'm like, ??? What do you mean? She did and everyone else was against her because of a stranger on a phone claiming to be a police officer. It's easy to say she should have quit on the spot but um, money? Idk. That wasn't the part that made me question it. All I know is this was an intense watch. Some lagging perhaps and as I said, as a movie, it's hard to accept what's happening but I do think it was good and I'm glad I finally watched. Definitely need to be in the right headspace for this tho.
